Video summary
Grandma's Attic Antiques has established itself as a unique destination in downtown Bemidji, housing over forty-eight vendors under one roof since its inception in 1999. Originally occupying only the central section of the building, the shop expanded to include the front area three years ago, creating a space rich with history that spans more than two decades. The interior is designed so that every corner tells a different story, offering a vast array of items ranging from furniture and vintage decor to records, toys, glassware, and one-of-a-kind collectibles. This diverse inventory ensures that shoppers can find something unique in every aisle, making the store a comprehensive hub for antique enthusiasts and casual browsers alike.
The enduring success and evolution of the business are largely driven by the dedicated people behind the booths, who come from varied backgrounds but share a deep passion for history and discovery. Many of these vendors are local professionals or retired teachers who enjoy collaborating with one another to find pieces they believe others will want to take home. This community spirit creates an atmosphere where everyone enjoys the process of hunting for cool things, pricing them, and selling them together. The constant influx of new items from different sellers ensures that no two visits are ever exactly the same, providing a fresh experience each time a customer walks through the door.
For visitors, particularly those who may be visiting an antique store for the first time, the shop offers an addictive treasure hunt that encourages exploration in small steps before fully immersing oneself in the variety of finds. The appeal lies in the endless possibility of discovery, where shoppers can spend hours looking and still feel as though there is more to uncover. This sense of adventure keeps people returning repeatedly, as the dynamic nature of the inventory means that new treasures are constantly moving through the booths. Whether looking for a specific item or simply browsing, the experience changes every time, making Grandma's Attic Antiques a highly recommended spot for anyone seeking cool treasures in Bemidji.

Grandma's Attic Antiques has become a
distinctive shop in downtown Bemidji,
bringing together a wide variety of
vendors and unique finds under one roof.
Reporter Ryan Fleming takes us inside
for this week's in business.
>> Inside Grandma's Attic Antiques, every
corner tells a different story. And
after more than two decades in the
business, there's a lot of history
packed under one roof.
>> It began in 1999.
Um
We you started out in the central part
of the building here. 3 years ago we
expanded up to the front.
Um there's about 48 vendors.
>> Part of what keeps this business
evolving is the people behind the
booths. Vendors come from different
backgrounds, but they share an interest
in history and in finding pieces they
think someone else will want to take
home.
>> It's different people, professionals
from in the town, a lot of retired
teachers,
um a lot of really good people. We all
enjoy each other. We all enjoy history.
Um we all enjoy going out and finding
cool things and bringing them in and
pricing them and selling them.
>> From furniture and vintage decor to
records, toys, glassware, and
one-of-a-kind collectibles, there's a
little bit of everything packed inside.
And for sellers, part of the fun is
finding the right piece for the right
person.
>> Definitely seeing people get what
they're looking for and then um being
able to to find things that we're
interested in for our booth as well. But
just the variety, seeing what's out
there, you can never know it all.
>> At Grandma's Attic Antiques, every booth
brings something different and every
aisle offers a new find. A big part of
the appeal is that the experience
changes every time you walk through the
door. With so many booths and new finds
coming in, shoppers can spend plenty of
time looking and still feel like there's
more to discover.
>> If if you have not taken a moment to
come into this place, I highly recommend
it because there are so many cool
treasures and um you have to kind of
take it in in little bits at first when
you first come to an antique store if
you've never been. Um but after that, I
think you'll see how quickly it's very
addicting and it's very It's like the
treasure hunt that you're always looking
for.
>> That sense of discovery is what keeps
people coming back because with new
items constantly moving through the
booths, no two trips through Grandma's
Attic and Antiques are ever quite the
same.
