Video summary

The video features a detailed exploration of the newly released "Ruins of Lorderon" dungeon within the World of Warcraft: Classic Plus beta, marking a significant return to the game's roots with fresh content. The host, leveling a Horde Paladin, leads a diverse group of players including a Warlock, Priest, Feral Druid, and Rogue through this repurposed area originally introduced in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. The dungeon is set within the ruins of the once-mighty capital city, now overrun by the Scourge and inhabited by the Forsaken, offering a nostalgic yet revitalized experience that blends classic design principles with modern enhancements like improved lighting, fog effects, and atmospheric audio to create an immersive environment that feels both authentic and exciting. Throughout the run, the group encounters various bosses and mechanics that test their coordination, such as kiting strategies against segmented spiders and dealing with stationary gargoyle enemies that require careful positioning. The loot table proves generous for early-game players, dropping items like "Bone Rust Leggings" and powerful shields that significantly boost stats, though some gear is immediately replaced by better drops, highlighting the dynamic nature of beta testing. A notable quest objective involves defeating a specific boss known as "Wrath Male," which rewards players with a massive axe capable of dealing double the damage of their current weapon, showcasing the potential for high-impact gameplay even at low levels. The dungeon also features creative reuse of existing assets, such as repurposing the Shadowlands launch quest structure, while introducing new cinematic moments and environmental storytelling that deepen the lore of Lorderon's fall. Despite minor nitpicks regarding inconsistent model scaling between classic and retail graphics options, the overall reception is overwhelmingly positive, with the host praising Blizzard for listening to community feedback and refining the experience. The video concludes with reflections on the importance of maintaining immersion through consistent art styles while acknowledging that players should have the option to choose between classic or enhanced visuals. Beyond the gameplay, the streamer also announces the revival of their long-running podcast, ClassicCast, bringing in new co-hosts to continue discussions about the game's legacy and future development, signaling a renewed commitment to supporting the Classic WoW community with dedicated content creation and honest critique.

Oh, kill wrath male in the ruins of Lorderon for Deathguard Kristoff Imbril. Movement speed increased by 2% in Silverpine Forest and Hillside Foothills. Wait, dude. This isn't a dude. This axe is insane. It's double the damage of my current weapon. Double the DPS. What? Okay, we got to run on today. Let's get a group together for this, man. All right, guys. Here's what we're going to do today. Uh there's a lot of new exciting content in Classic Plus in Wild forever and we're going to do our first new dungeon. We did Ragefire last night. We did Rage Firefire with Summit and uh Jake and Bake last night. Rage fire is the same. There's some new items and stuff like that, but it's time for the ruins of Lord Ron. Okay, I'm I'm leveling a Horde Paladin. I'm going to level a bunch of stuff in the beta. Uh just trying to work on feedback and learning like kind of the the pain points, you know, what's good, what's bad about all the different classes if I can. I would like to play all the classes. get him to level 20 in the beta at least and uh and keep going from there. But it's time for the ruins of Lordon. But first, all right, gentlemen. WoW is back, baby. And we're back in the armory. Okay. WoW is back. And we're back in the freaking armory. That's right. The same armory that you saw here almost 10 years ago back when we were streaming private servers on YouTube. Back in the days of Raid 3 on Allesium. Back when we were Sanctum Raid three. We broke off, made our own guild before Classic WoW was announced. But it's okay. The armory still stands tall. The armory is still strong, as you can see. But you know what's not? Lordon. Ladies and gentlemen, Lordon has fallen. Yes, Lordon has fallen. And all that remains are the ruins and the unders city which has been inhabited by the Forsaken. And this podium for coach Espant. All right. So, here's what we're going to do. It's one of the new dungeons of WoW Forever of Classic Plus. We're going to go in there. I got a group together. We got a mix of a bunch of different classes. We got Warlock, we got priest, we have rat paladin, we have tank feral druid, and we have a rogue. Okay, that's our fiveman. We're going to go in there today. We're going to check it out. We're going to see what it's about. I can't wait. And there's a big big axe. You guys saw the big axe. We're going to get ourselves a big axe from that quest. Wait, do do we have a I hope we have a quest for this thing. I hope somebody has it. Maybe they can share. We'll find out. All right, I hope gear drops make that act useless. Okay, let's go ahead and share share these quests real quick. One second. >> Excuse me, High Lord. Thought Munch Jingles from Scarlet Crusade Times. What you say about the rumors of you visiting the brothel used code name ass Blaster? >> That's That's not okay. That never happened. I have two quests. Somebody said there's like six quests. I only have two of them. There's one quest we need to be 164. Oh, wow. It's back, baby. Let me buff up and we will be good to go. Okay, Zebeck is the tank priest. Johnny Roland's here. You guys get might too just because I'm ready. Elixir of minor force. >> Try me two hypers. >> Ooh, nice. We got some potions to use. Five spell damage. minor force. >> I need >> level 15 elites. Okay, so I'm level 15 going into this. Apparently, there's some quests that you need to be level 16 for. Uh I don't know exactly how many quests you need here. But if there's at least one that you have to be level 16 for, then it might be best to first run this at like 16 so you don't have to run it again. But if there's good gear that drops from here, which there probably is, it's probably fine to run it again. Also, take note of how much XP I have before we turn in any quests from this dungeon. Oh, this is a big pull. Nothing to worry about. Nothing to worry about. Never run. Any any running that we do is only kiting. We kite. We don't run. We kite. Okay, that's fine. Kiting is fine. No running here. I'm going to eat some food. This is a 5% more XP buff food. Wither fang the boss. Miss segmented spider. Wait, strength agility staff. That's a nice staff. It's good for dread, isn't it? That's good for dread, too. Grab zebec. Something for a tank here. Is this new dungeon? Yeah. So, this is this is ruins of Lordon. Yeah. I mean, dude, look at how look at how this hits, man. Like, this hits super good so far, I think. Like, you're actually outside of of Unders City. Wait, hold on. Is this Wait a second. I'm Is this the place from like the Shadowlands launch? I think I think they repurposed the Shadowlands launch quest. Yeah, look at that. or BFA. It was BFA. Yeah. Yeah. BFA. Interesting. That's good that didn't go to waste. That's cool. They found a good use for it. Yeah, they found a really good use for it. What? Two Spellbinder pans already? Yeah, dude. It hits, man. They did a great job with this. They really did. Intact limbs. We're looting a bunch of intact limbs for this quest. Lights of Justice. So, this is the quest that you get increase healing by 48 and 7,000 XP. I know I had a little bit of rested at the beginning here, but I don't think the XP nerf for dungeons is so bad. It's not the first time Blizzard No, no, it's not. It's not. But I I like how they how they repurposed it cuz this is a cool area. Like the idea of like you're actually like on the surface of the unders city and you're killing all these mobs and stuff. It's like, hey, this is Lorderon. This is what used to be the capital city. I I actually love this and especially with the setting of the game being uh wait a second. Ghost these guys are neutral. I wonder if I can Hold on. Hold on. Slash dance. Oh no, it doesn't work. I want to see if it was like uh if it was like Strathmore where if you dance with the citizens, you know. Yeah, dude. The even like the roleplay it's like, hey, the setting is this is this is Warcraft year 1 or this is like one year after Warcraft 3, Frozen Throne instead of four years after. Very good. Which way? Uh, I would just keep going. Let me just keep going in the circle. Oh my gosh, this looks so good. I think what they're doing is really cool. I think the concepts are cool. I think the places that we are cool. And none of this stuff is like super creative. Truthfully, I think everybody can admit that with like a degree of like intellectual honesty, right? Like these are all things that were already in the game or places that were already talked about. So, it's not about like coming up with new things, and that's not the important thing. People don't necessarily need you to come up with things that are brand new that you've never heard of. What I think people want to see, and the thing that's exciting about all this, and sure, maybe there's some of that like sprinkled in, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying completely, it's the implementation of the places that we already know or the things that we think about. And to be fair, Ruins of Lorderon is kind of something that is is a little bit more creative. other places like Hyel being in the game or you know Grim Batl being in the game. These kinds of things are less creative but more so just all about that implementation and hopefully they do it in a way that's like super cool, engaging, fun, interesting, all the above. And so far, I mean, I'm level 15 on this character. So far, I think they've done a pretty good job. I mean, just look at look at the environments, dude. Lordon has been overrun by the scourge. All these undead are here. You have the Forsaken, okay? And the Forsaken are back and they they want their home back. So, you're leveling up in this area and then you're introduced to a dungeon in the in the capital city. It's super cool. The hell is that blue thing? Oh, yeah. That's the skyorn bear. Yeah, the lighting and stuff is my my favorite change, too, because I've said this for a long time. The important thing, like there's like the authentic vanilla authentic vanilla experience and then the feeling of authenticity. Uh, and again, this isn't necessarily going to be like vanilla wow redone. Okay, it's classic plus, but they still so they still want it like based in what classic provided and and how the game was designed. The design principles of classic wow, that's key. But exactly what this does, it's not about it looking how it used to. Sure, you have the same textures, the same models, the same all this kind of same stuff, right? Oh, I pulled a sorry. You have all this kind of same stuff, but I think if they didn't do something, it might have been a disappointment to some people to spruce things up, even though they're using all this these old models and textures. So they keep the same art style. They keep the same look. But now with the different lighting effects, the fog and the fog and the fog with all the different lighting effects and fog and stuff, you have now set the environment up in such a way that hey, this isn't how it used to look, but this is how I used to imagine that it looked. This is how things used to look in my head. Whenever I think back, this is where I was. Even if it wasn't real at that time, well, now it is. And I think I think that's the important thing. It feels like what I'm saying when my when my kids self saw it. Yeah, exactly. Like I can't wait to level through Duskwood. Are they going to make any change to 100 pets and pet balancing? I think anything and everything is on the table as far as tuning and balancing goes. Bork. Okay, here's a boss. Bork. Anti-agic shield. Oh no. Okay. Is it gone? All right. Good. It's gone. I'm missing a bunch. He's level 19. Yeah, 15 is probably just a hair too low for this, but we have a level 20 in here. Bone rust leggings. Woo. That sucks cuz I just got these big leggings and they immediately got replaced. Six agility, seven strength, three spirit. Look at that. See, these are DPS legs. The other ones are tangle legs. Nice. Level 16. I'll use them soon. I wonder how many bosses there actually are here. Is there dungeon maps? There's not. You know what's funny? I've always said I don't mind if there was dungeon maps in classic WoW. Like if they had dungeon maps, I'd be kind of like whatever. But I'm kind of glad there's not a dungeon map now for this dungeon I've never done, oddly enough. Okay, so we've killed two bosses so far. We got some big legs. Uh I won't level here in the dungeon, so I won't put them on for a minute. But the quest that we have, so we have two quests. There's going to be more. One is this one for 7,000 XP, and we get a big healing base. The other one is Wrath Male. We got to kill Wrath Mail and then you get this big axe. But to put that into perspective, 7,000 XP is like half of level 15. Oh, there's Wrath Male. So there's Okay, so there's the guy for the quest. Uh, okay. Here it is. Wrath mail. Let's go ahead and pull him. He's not going to like pull all these ads, is he? Okay, cool. What is this? He has like a pulsing fire thing. All right, pull him out of there. Can he be stunned? He resisted stun. I don't know if he can or can't be, but he definitely resisted it. Even in death. Nice. Nice. >> Paladin shield. Okay. Mirror of wrath male. Strength, stamina, intellect. Okay. Level 19 shield. Scam game. Drew. Okay. Look at that new shield. Dude, I got two pieces of gear. Is that GG's? No, I think uh I think there's more. There's got to be more. Somebody said there's four to five bosses. There's actually six. There's a secret boss. Really? Maybe. Maybe we can click something somewhere to open a door. H. Okay, keep searching. See if there's anything in the environment you can interact with Market Street. Dude, this is crazy. Like when you actually like look at this and it's like, oh, this is supposed to be Lorderon. Like imagine this place with the architecture of like a Stormwind, you know? Like, can you imagine if this was like what Stormwind, you know, like Stormwind's art and stuff like that? Crazy, man. A world a world where you take back Lordon would be insane. Oh my gosh, this is so cool, dude. Dude, this looks so cool over here. Oh, you guys found something. Oh, they found something. They found something. They found something. Look at this. Oh, up the tower. Oh, we can Oh, dude. We can freaking ride the freaking wall. This is sick. Oh, there's a bad guy. Dude, be so funny if this guy had a punt and he knocked one of us off. Gargoyles. What if he walked up to these guys? Oh, frick. Guys, help. I literally was about to say, what if you walk up to these guys and they and they become active. He just bubbled. It's the Wait, does it do that in Shadow Fang Keep? I don't remember it ever doing that in Shadow Vankeep. I don't remember that. I thought, but they were targetable and they weren't targetable. I Dude, I can't remember. Stone slumber 30 damage healed every 3 seconds. Immun physical when able that. Wait, can you hit him with magic? You can still hit him with magic. Dude, I actually don't remember that from Shadowy Keep at all. I haven't ran it in so long. I mean, there's got to be another boss, right? What is this? This This guy did something. Like his eyes are now red and it like the ground shook. And look at this lantern. Something is going on. I want to know what triggered that here. Let's just keep clearing and see what happens. Oh. Oh. Oh. Look, look, look. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. What is that? The abandoned. Oh, look at that. Wait, that was sick. That's why his eyes were red. Dude, that's sick. Okay, the abandoned. Dude, that is Is that a new character model? a new a new boss model or something. I've never seen that. It looks so good. Yeah, the animation was wild. I thought it looked like a like a like a scorpion thing was crawling there and I was like, "Wait a second, that's not what that is." It looks a little bit uh still classic a little bit. I mean, I think I think this is like a little bit Look at that. Like, look at those arms and stuff. I feel like the mechanic and how everything happened was very classic, but I I do think the the textures are not super great. More dude, this is the god seed. All freaking male paladin DPS gear, dude. Three pieces of paladin gear, dude. The god seed activated. Grip of Fear, level 17. I can't even use it. Cool. I mean, that was four bosses, right? Was that four bosses? There's got to be more than four. Look how much damage I did. Wait, what is a What is Touch of Death? Too soon. Touch of death is life. No, that's Touch of the Grave. Touch of death. There was a GM that was uh that killed a boss in Mythic Plus, like it was a plus 22 key in retail, and a a GM was inside of a dungeon with some players and for with like a streamer and offream killed the boss for them to make sure that they timed the dungeon with like 15 seconds left or something. Yeah, I think the guy lost his job. Yeah, they got it got they could see it on the on the logs that got uploaded, which is crazy. It's crazy that they that they did this and then they uploaded the logs. Apparently, they were selling boosts to people and then the person that was getting boosted was logging it and then autouploaded the log and then people saw it and they were like, "Wait, what is this?" Yeah, he had only been with Blizzard for a few months. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know the full details, but isn't that crazy? Oh, they brought a pug tank and they didn't know the tank was logging. That's what happened. Regardless, let's go here. You see you see all these things over here? Bunch of red. Bunch of people still alive. Well, people undead. Dude, the ruins of Lorderon is way bigger than I would have thought. Very cool. Did they add anything to stockades and Stormwind? I don't know. We'll see. This game just eats ours. Dude, some games just delete hours, and this is one of them, man. Wait, the Baron. Oh, is that another boss? I think it's another boss. I'm going to set a marker on him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's good. the Baron. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe it's cuz I'm like a human player, but I have this like weird like I have an attachment to Lordon. >> Where's me for >> Oh, frick. He's here. I'm like, "Yeah, dude. Lord Ron is sick." The Baron patchwork. Oh, dude. He just punted him. >> Give me >> leftover Oh, what is this loot, man? This gear should be for me. What the heck? leftover abomination skin. Ew, look at that. Wait, is this a new This looks new, dude. This looks like This looks like pieces of like uh like threads of muscle. Cool. Grats, Johnny. What What about here? cinema. Dude, I think I think the last names are they're getting unhinged. I don't know what Blu is going to do about that. Okay, I guess we must be done. All right. Well, good job everybody. This was a pretty smart way to reuse some stuff and take advantage of the retail bones. Oh yeah, 100%. Yeah, I mean definitely I would say that uh quick kind of rundown of my thoughts of the runes of Orderon. Wonderful cinema, the the aesthetic, the fog, the lighting, everything. Everything looks good. It was such a creative way for them to reuse the BFA intro area. So in in Battle for Azeroth, they like you go through and you're like fighting Lordon and Lordon gets taken over and there's like it's like a whole thing, right? They reuse the bones of that to make this. No pun intended. They reuse the bones of that to make this. So very very cool. Very very cool way of reusing it and being creative, but also like it still has that sort of classic feel. Spoilers. Okay, my bad chat. Sorry. Sorry for spoiling BFA. Um yeah, dude. It still has that classic feel. I love the way that you get the bosses. There was the one boss, the abandoned. That one boss, the abandoned, I think was using like a retail model outright that was downscaled. I mean, if I'm on classic graphics, and and I feel pretty strongly about this. I think if you choose the classic graphics option, then there should be classic models for everything. I think if you choose a retail graphics options, there should be retail graphics for everything. I think I think that needs to be there, you know? I think those things need to be split up and and they both need to be supported. They both need to be provided. So, if you're reusing like a a retail model, which to be fair, it looks pretty cool. If you just look at the style and how it's designed and and what details there are, it does look a little bit downscaled, I guess. But they just basically downscaled the textures with a high level of detail, and it it really doesn't look very classic, right? Is it the end of the world? No. But I do think it's something for like the sake of immersion that they that they try and provide both those things, like both those options for the people playing the game the way that they want to play the game. But with that being said, it wasn't it wasn't really like that bad. I just think that that's an important thing to provide. If you say that you're going to provide something, then you should provide it in that way. Like there was the crest of Lorderon, which is like it was super high- res. It just doesn't really fit the rest of the dungeon. Doesn't really fit the rest of the environment. Overall, for what it is, these are like pretty nitpicky type of things that I just would like to see them kind of dial in and and fix up. I We're in a beta, right? So, I hope that that just be like an easy fix that they can just do. Uh, outside of that, man, I think Ruins of Lorderon was wonderful. Super super good early level dungeon. It was fun. The environment is cool, the aesthetic, everything, right? But also like the encounters were pretty fun. I mean, it wasn't too hard. Obviously, there was like some minor mechanics like the uh like the gargoyles doing the physical shield, but yeah, I mean, outside of like some really nitpicky things, >> I think Runes of Lorderon was fantastic, man. Very impressive so far. Oh my gosh, just look at this environment, dude. Just look at this. Just look at this, man. Blizzard has actually listened, man. And I've gotten to know some of the people on the on the classic team over the last few months, over the last actually over over the last few years at this point. A lot of care has gone into it. Look at the reflection of the moon. These guys are classic Andes, man. Like, haven't talked to Nora, Agrand, all these guys, man. Tim, everybody. I mean, I'm going to start naming names and you're going to name 100 people. But they're all like these guys are actual classic Andes. I'm always going to be a little bit, hey, let's let's be honest with our critique. You know, some things good, some things bad, this, that, whatever. But right now, it's looking like it's looking like wow is back, baby. It's looking like WoW is back, baby. Uh let me know what you guys think in the comments. Uh like the video, subscribe, leave a comment, whatever. Check out all the different stuff we're doing. By the way, if you're an old frog, if you've been watching since years and years and years ago whenever we were like pushing for classic wow, legacy servers, all this stuff. I used to host a podcast called ClassicCast. Classiccast has returned. We've brought back the classic cast and I've got uh two new co-hosts. If you're like in the WoW scene, WoW content creation scene, you're probably already familiar with them. That's Guzu and Ampy are joining us, you know, big- time classic WoW players with a really really good perspective on the game. Uh they they've played the game at a high level for a long time and I'm super excited to to start this thing with them. We already have our first episode, but we have a new YouTube channel. So, make sure to go subscribe to that YouTube channel, ClassicCast. I think it's ClassicCast podcast technically. You know, I'm looking for an editor and and some other stuff. I don't know exactly how we want to handle that channel, but it's going to be done on a different like we're going to take it up a notch from how we used to do it in the past. Uh so I'll probably start putting it on other platforms and instead of it being just posted on my YouTube channel, we're going to post it on a separate channel this time around and uh and yeah, it's going to be good. So, hope you guys enjoy. Thank you guys for being so supportive over all the years and and pushing for classic wow and all these things and just in gaming, IRL, whatever it is that we do. I I I have an unbelievable level of support, man. uh unbelievable level of support that you guys have given me throughout many many years. I'm one of the guys who very fortunately has been able to do World of Warcraft, Classic W, all this stuff and be able to move on to other different avenues of content creation. But at the end of the day, my heart's always going to be here. It is. I'm always going to love this game. And uh whenever I have an opportunity to come back and really do something that I really enjoy and and send it the way that I want to send it, we're going to get to do that. So anyways, long outro. Thank you guys for watching the YouTube video. I'll see you guys next time.
