Video summary

The video features a creator attempting to jump rope on a paddle board in the middle of the Indian Ocean off the coast of Indonesia, continuing a tradition he started years ago while surfing in Hawaii. Although the activity is primarily intended as a fun gimmick for social media rather than a serious weight loss program, it serves as proof that one can exercise almost anywhere in the world. The creator emphasizes his philosophy that fitness does not need to be viewed as a rigid task full of discipline; instead, he encourages viewers to find joy in movement and burn calories through unconventional methods like this unique ocean workout. The footage captures both the excitement and the significant challenges of performing jump rope on an unstable platform far from shore. The creator admits that being deep in the water without crashing waves was terrifying, constantly worrying about what lay beneath him while trying to maintain his balance. He notes that using a drone provided cool aerial shots but also highlights practical difficulties such as splashing water making it hard to swing the rope and finding a stable spot on the board due to its size. Consequently, he could only perform basic bounces and side swipes before falling off or messing up, managing roughly six rotations without dropping in. Despite the physical struggle of lugging the heavy paddle board over sharp coral reefs while wearing protective booties, the creator concludes that the entire experience was one of the best workouts of his trip. He argues that even though there is no direct fitness benefit to jumping rope on a moving board compared to doing it at home, the act of transporting and setting up the equipment burned enough calories to contribute to a calorie deficit. Ultimately, he hopes this video inspires others to try exercising in crazy places they have never considered before, reminding everyone that getting fit can be an enjoyable adventure rather than just another chore on their daily list.

Today, I'm talking about how I jump rope on a paddle board in the ocean. So, this this video obviously has nothing to do with weight loss. As you guys know on this channel, or if you're new, um my thing with jump rope is it's a great way to get fit anywhere in the world. So, sometimes I like to make gimmicky videos like this where I just jump rope in areas where you wouldn't normally work out or jump rope, but it's just fun. Um I also thought, I mean obviously it's a cool social media shot. Um and this is not the first time that I've jump rope in on a paddle board in the ocean. The first time was in Hawaii a bunch of years ago, and uh I did it then. And so, I thought why don't we try to do it again, but this time instead of just having a GoPro, uh we had a drone. So, yeah, jump rope in the Indian Ocean. I was in Indonesia recently for a surf trip, and one of the guides who was there was like, "Hey man, we should film some jump rope stuff." And I was like, "Well, there is a big paddle board, and I've jump rope on it before." And he had a drone. Uh so, this is the footage that you're seeing is just me having a little bit of fun and taking the paddle board out at night uh to do this. Now, I will say, as someone who surfs and has seen sharks in the water before and been surfing with sharks, there's nothing more terrifying than being further out in the ocean when it's deep and there's no waves crashing and you're on a paddle board, and all I can think about is like, "Dude, what what is underneath this water right now?" So, as you notice by some of the footage maybe, uh I'll try to put some footage in of me kind of struggling to get back on. But, every time I would fall on the board, I would I would get back on try to get back on the board so quick cuz all I could hear in my brain was the Jaws music. Da da da Da da da every time I would fall in. Um but yeah, it was fun, and I you know, it was a beautiful sunset. We actually timed it perfectly, so the sun was like right in front, and I was kind of silhouetted. I could have used a bigger paddle board in in scenario because I felt like I was kind of sinking and I couldn't quite find the right middle zone to do some proper jump rope. So, as you notice by the footage, I'm pretty much only doing regular bounce and side swipe, you know, to the right and to the left because that's pretty much all I could do. Even when I was on the board, I was like, if something comes and bumps me, like I'm, you know, I'm this is going to suck. So again, I hope you enjoyed this drone footage and it's just proof that you can jump rope almost anywhere in the world and get fit and have fun. So, this really is just kind of taking it to the max. And there's no real benefit to doing this. Obviously, it's just for like to get a a cool shot and put it on social media because trying to do an actual workout, actually the biggest part of the workout was lugging the paddle board, cuz it was kind of a heavy paddle board. It was lugging the paddle board over the reef into the ocean to actually set it up and do this. Um, which was also a yeah, it was a task in itself because the reef is super sharp, so I had to wear my my booties, my rubber booties to to get it out past the reef to where I could get on it and start jumping. It was fun, good times. And just a reminder that you can do the thing anywhere. So, what I'd like you guys to do is actually comment below and let me know a crazy place that you've jumped rope before or a more unconventional place. I've actually seen a few other people jump rope on a paddle board, but it's one of those things you think is going to be a lot easier than it is until you're out there. And there was also water splashing up onto the board, which was making it really diff- difficult for me to actually get the rope around. So, I think the max number of rotations I was able to do without falling or without messing up was about six. But yeah, guys, that's, you know, at the end of the day, I try not to take this fitness thing too seriously. Obviously, I'm regimented in, you know, if you want to have a low body fat percentage and build muscle, you have to do cardio resistance training and pay attention to how much food you're eating and the quality of that food. But also, there's many different ways to move your body and burn calories and honestly, this was one of the best workouts of the entire trip. Just logging this paddle board out there, jumping rope for a little bit, trying to get some shots and then coming back in. So, my thing with fitness is I'm not someone who wants to see fitness as this serious thing that I have to do and exercise as this like task that's like full of discipline and I have to get it done. Like even just doing something as silly as this was really fun and actually burned some calories, which contributes to a calorie deficit, which helps you lose body fat, dude. So, yeah, jump rope on a paddle board, second time. I feel like I need to get a third time in, you know, third time's a charm. So, comment below and let me know where you think I should what ocean I should jump in. I've jumped on a paddle board in the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii and now the Indian Ocean in Indonesia. So, I don't know, maybe the Atlantic next. Anyway, comment, let me know. And if you need a the jump rope that I used for this, obviously, it's the Crossrope. I talk about it all the time. crossrope.com/jrd. So, just click the link, crossrope.com/jrd. Check it out, dude. And continue doing the thing.
