I Entered a 1000+ Man Fighting Game Tournament....

I entered a 1,000-plus man tournament for Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, and after winning the creator launch tournament and hours upon hours of practice, I came in 129th place. I mean, that's pretty good when you consider the amount I I mean, I made it out of pool. Today, I want to play the exact team I used throughout my tournament run and take them into online ranked matches to show off and talk about what I liked and didn't like about the team. And of course, hopefully use them to win some ranked matches. I mean, we might have lost the tournament, but we can still win here. So, here is the team. We started with Loki, we had Carnage up second, Hulk down in the DP slot, and Magic Magic was always just there as an assist. I never once used Magic even in a actual tournament. I just could not bring myself to use Magic. But that's something I did a lot during the tournament. I would just simply uh do the medium thing, tag into Carnage. My Loki was not really clean, not tournament ready, I would say, at all. Ooh, but I mean, he still got a lot of the play time just because I did simple move. I did not mean to do that. I was thinking of Fighters. I I just panicked into the super dash. With no super dash That also happened. I also played Fighters at the tournament. I got like 30th in Fighters. I Day one, if I didn't practice, it would have been bad. Uh we want to talk about tournaments as well. Spider-Man is the real tournament killer, man. This character killed me more than once. He is an absolute menace. And Loki, I left the tournament thinking I was a hater of Spider-Man. Like I I I I actually just did not have a good time against Spider-Man. The easy high-lows, especially in the tournament scenario, were devastating. Uh it's a great time to be playing Spider-Man. I wonder if they're going to nerf him. Like it's so early on in Tokon's lifespan, but after CEO, I I really was just like, "Hmm, they might need to touch this character up a little bit." Nothing to tag out to. We're just We're not getting many hits. We just got to sit We got to buckle down. Just play play the game. Okay, here's where we could get high-low. All right, that wasn't even That wasn't anything crazy. I just crouched before the final hit. Maybe we'll live if he drops it. He might. Oh, we have a chance. I crouched again. That was Oh, what a way to lose to Spider-Man. He didn't even have to bust out any of the tricks. We'll go back in on the Loki. We'll just try it. You got a block. This is a combo I use in the tournament a little bit. Uh uh You just got to love Carnage, man. I probably should have done a super, but we'll take this, too. Uh uh Let me tag straight into Hulk. Oh, no. That was the armor. I mean, if you Okay, we should not have gamma charged. The A light clap is the better move to use there. That's That's another thing I didn't do very well in tournament is after a block string with Hulk, I would just panic. I'm like, "Bro, how did you block Hulk? Are you serious?" Like And then I would just sit there and die. Didn't really play too much of Hulk, honestly. I kind of I've changed my team up since the tournament because I want to play more Hulk. I just think he's so good and fun. Uh so, I've got him back up on point now. Maybe I'll do a video of that team, too. Ooh. Ooh. Oh, that that dropped. That dropped. Holy [ __ ] We're panicking, though. What a DP assist, but it's not good enough. And we'll still FIND A WAY TO PICK UP THE KILL. Ring around the rosy. Didn't know where to block. We'll take it 1-1. Now, with the Hulk the the the meta thing with Hulk, if you want to do If you want to play Hulk and you want to be a little tricky, you got to do light rock assist. But, obviously, you would want to switch after light rock. So, I didn't did it in the wrong order. I'll give you a better example. Uh basically, the light rock is just such a great pressure tool to switch around, which we've showed off in some videos before, but I mean, I was using it a ton. Whenever I was out in Hulk or at least I think I was. Maybe maybe something I started doing after. Oh, what? I will just super. I'm just doing absolutely nothing with Hulk right now. I've actually practiced more of Hulk since the tournament. I can do like re-jumps now and everything. Um but it doesn't really matter if you What am I doing? We are in gamma mode though. All of our wasteful Like hold on cuz now we Where's the armor on the punch? Oh, if the armor got there in time, we would have lived. I mean, we might still live if he doesn't super, but there's so much time in this combo. A drop would be lovely. Not Not always going to get what you want. Do I want to play it safe as Hulk now? Let's get out. Could Could he see a side on switch here? Spider-Man, man, it's classic. Lot of time with that magic encounter as well. Can't afford to lose this this game. This game would end the whole whole round. We can't afford to lose this. Really, you can't mash there. I also I also have noticed that not I mean, not that this is a really a terrible thing, but Tekken is a very anti-mash game. Like if they have an assist called, normally normally something is just going to beat you out, you know? Oh, no tag. He didn't want me to tag. Something is going to beat you out. An assist call is always going to beat you out. Okay, we'll take a little wall break here. Oh, wow. All right, there's light rock switch. Light rock switch in a grab. You got to respect that. Go Oh, no grab again. Nice. Does a grab late. I think he was just afraid. Hawks going to break us out. Oh, magic assist couldn't get there in time. Okay, he he got my limb. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER. You can take a limb, but you're not going to get the whole thing. Beautiful. We've got the game in a good situation now. Ah, we lost the air scramble. Losing the air-to-air gets us into the corner. Magic just gets to cook now. So much time in the combo plus a wall slam. Oh, no, man. That was a That was a reset? And then again, I mashed. I I just ma- If If you're going to mash, you really need to pick your spot carefully. Are we dead? Like no way I get reset death. Nice, we'll take a counter. Lovely. Okay, can I can I do any tags? I really would have liked to tag. Oh, wow. Oh, no. Oh, that combo is insane. The fireball combo didn't need to happen, man. Oh, the fireball combo's insane. Okay, we lost game one, but it was so close. Like we we can get that back. Wow, didn't do a medium there and my opponent actually finds time to hit. Hits some buttons, get us gets us back into the corner. A lot of my games in tournament, I'm not going to lie. If one thing I was happy with in tournament as I do feel like not that I didn't deserve to lose my matches. I don't want this to be misunderstood. But the matches I lost weren't matches I could never win, if you know what I'm talking about. Like it wasn't like damn, that guy was just better than me. Like cuz I definitely would have gotten that, right? Like I I was not going in thinking I was win Spider-Man overhead. You can't talk and play Spider-Man, bro. Like You got to be eyes on the You got to be both hands 10 and two on the wheel to block against this Spider-Man, man. Like you just do not know. You don't know. You don't know. If he has assist gauge, I guess I should always stand up. Oof. You'll notice I'm not really using a lot of Loki's like fake outs and and mix opportunity. I really wasn't doing that in the tournament either. My Loki was so crusty, it was it was bad. He's just got good buttons though. So you you can get pretty far with Loki. Combos were crusty, too. Honestly, like my Loki was not a not something to be proud of. Oh, shut up with these grabs, man. Oh, Hulk, why? Oh, and then then magic range. Classic. That is just that is a bonafide classic magic move. Maybe eventually we'll get a drop here. Drop style. Do we want to mash? I keep doing that. Uh usually it works. Usually the fight they're not they're just want to continue pressure off fire ball, but Ah, wow. Isn't even worse Isn't even worse game. Blade blade back assist is crazy, man. At anytime I get hit by anything. No, that's actually genuinely crazy. Like you got to know that. Run up grab. No, I I didn't even mash that time. Crossover, that's so risky. We just keep running into the knife. This was a terri- Wait, we're not dead. Every We ran into everything. That was the quickest 3-0. Oh, we just got to wash that one off the pallet. Yeah, I So, this is kind of why I've moved off Loki. Not because he's not good, but just there's something about the way I play that I just Well, what am I being something about the way I play? It's just like I haven't been I'm not using his great best tools. Hulk is way way You know, there's no I'm trying to find a elegant way to talk myself out of it. I'm too dumb for Loki. I really am. Loki like not that you can't play him and not, you know, have the simple stuff. Like I have simple stuff, but there's just so much left on the table that I would love to maximize that it bothers me when I don't. Nice 2H. I It was fake. I I was just getting some fake offense out there. It was early enough in the set I thought he would let it fly. But no, he's locked in on Iron Man right now. Re-jumps everything. What's the pressure looking like? Let's just play honest token defense. Aw, I could have done so much more. Uh we'll just take the wall splat. Carnage very good in wall splat scenarios. So, we just Oh, wow. No way. No way. No way. I was going to be so mad. Hulk assist. Oh. Aw, we just still wall breaks. I was really hoping. It's fine. He crunches that? We did not jump. I'm going to be honest, we did not jump. I just held back up. Why did it give me jump? Aw, that was a set you hate to lose. He's moving pretty well on Iron Man though. He's getting a little hype. He's getting a little exciting. We don't want the wall tap there. We'll take it. I can't believe it. I always drop that combo. I need to find a different ender. Like I always I always charge medium max of a couple frames too long. Ooh, web bomb in the combo. That had to be fake. There's no way like Like I just got I was just caught like admiring the web bomb. There was nothing mixy about that, right? Or or am I wrong? There he is. Every time. It's actually an addiction to charging these moves too long. Oh, no. Okay, we'll actually take the fall there. Is he using Carnage back assist? That didn't kill him. We're fine. That's fine. We'll kill with that. I I did I charged it too too little, but it would kill. It would kill. I like that Carnage is just up top. Love that. No, no, no, no, no. Oh, and of course of course. Beautiful tag off that. Nice. Beautiful. See, but like that mid-screen combos with Loki no assist is like what do I even do? That That's That's where it's the That's where it's the dirtiest. That's where I start losing games at a high level when you need to maximize off every combo. It's like Oh, that was the That was pretty good grab by him, but I I was thinking the same thing. See, it's like, "Bro, how do I mess that up?" How do I mess that up? My answer I came to was I'm bad at Loki. Now, could I get better at the game and learn Loki? Yeah, I could, but you know, I just I got to accept when I when I got to accept. Holy, that could have been bad. Bro, can you put down my hold? Now, one thing that is really good about Loki, again these buttons are insane dog. Like let me let me find out that every character I play can get this look at that jumping medium. Oh nice. So that's just a delay by the way. In this game if you delay your oh wow buttons during a 2H, you can just drag them from corner to corner basically. It's really good. I I've started to do it by just habit. Like I've trained it so much at this point like I just delay it. It looks stupid but it's pretty good. Oh no. I'd say it's more important for characters like Hulk but Oh god. Oh not the Hulkbuster bro, the big suit. I wouldn't say that man. Like we didn't need all the and and you're going all the way 150? We still love those though. We can still win. Let's go. Let's go. Wow, level 100. The hard part is we just can't get caught by anything. And we don't. He's got to be mad. I actually hate my Are we going to win a single game today? I mean, this is pretty accurate to how I win the tournament, bro. Oh, we're deranking up. I can I can say no words. We should have had that game. We just fumbled the last 30 seconds in a row. But that is also accurate to the tournament experience. Oh my god. It's it's low-key, bro. I got I got The thing is I've already removed him from my team at this point, but it's not Again, he's not bad. He's really good. He's great. You want him on your team. Just not me, man. Last tournament story I really have I my final game 1-1 final round, I lost because I got my entire team hit in a happy birthday. It was embarrassing, bro. We'll take a wall splat again. Why not? Keep the pressure alive. Uh there's there's issues with pressure. Good. I mean, that was pretty good. It was standard, but with multiple wall breaks, we got the full team. I mean, I'll take that every day, man. Oh, yeah. I mean, I don't care. Does it look like I care? I got Hulk out. Oh, magic. Thank you. What's the mix? What's the mix? Spider-Man makes probably. What? I don't have enough time to get some buttons off? Insane. Insane. We're just we're holding out hope. Nice. Back it up. BP assist cuz I was terrified. Oh, we have nothing. All right, we'll just take a wall splat there just to calm down a little bit. Not super optimal here, but we'll have to take it. Nice. It wasn't even the right move. I should have gone medium. All right, but why not play it safe? Overhead rock. That's why not play it safe. That's why not play it safe cuz we've lost every game we've played today. We got to win one. And now you guys can see why. Let me hit some goddamn re-jumps. That is not how you hit the re-jumps, by the way. That was the ballsy-est grab I've ever seen in my time in the game. Oh, he almost just out he almost did it again. This guy said, "Yo, if I'm not winning rounds, I got to get crazy." Oh, yeah, we're taking a wall splat there. Um Ah, [ __ ] I wanted some armor. I wanted a little bit of armor. Got risky with it. I knew the second he tagged in Spider-Man, I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO CLICK BUTTONS. GIVE HIM A BOMB. COME ON. NOW, watch this mix. There was no mix. I was just going to step on the ground. That was the mix. If you couldn't expect that, bro, then you were losing a whole 10 out of 10 times. Can we just bring it home? I would love to just bring it home. God Loki. It's like actually insane that I do this to myself. Nice combo. I mean, that just looked cool. I'm much more confident mid-screen Carnage, though. Overhead, he didn't do anything with it.
