Video summary
WordPress Studio emerges as an accessible, open-source solution designed to simplify local WordPress development for beginners, plugin creators, theme developers, and anyone else working on site-specific tasks. Unlike previous methods that relied on complex setups involving Docker or other tools which often posed significant configuration challenges, this software offers a streamlined experience available free of charge across Windows, Linux, Mac, and various other operating systems. The installation process is remarkably straightforward; users simply download the application from developerdoors.com and double-click to install it, with the entire setup typically taking only four to five minutes depending on the computer's speed. This ease of use removes many barriers for those new to WordPress development who need a reliable local environment without the steep learning curve associated with traditional virtualization tools.
Upon launching the application, users are presented with three primary options tailored to different needs: building a brand-new site from scratch, connecting an existing WordPress.com account for editing and publishing, or importing backups of current websites into the local environment. For this tutorial, the focus is on creating a new development instance by selecting "Build a New Site," which leads users through a selection process involving themes like Multisite, WooCommerce, or specific developer editions. While there are slight variations in pre-installed plugins depending on the chosen edition—such as Query Monitor for developers—the core functionality remains consistent across all options. Users can customize settings such as the PHP and WordPress versions if desired, though default configurations often suffice for learning purposes, while also having the flexibility to change the installation directory or modify administrative credentials like usernames and passwords before proceeding with the setup.
Once the site is installed within one to two minutes, users gain immediate access to a fully functional local environment complete with demo themes and plugins ready for experimentation. The interface provides convenient shortcuts to view both the front-end of the website in a browser and the back-end admin dashboard directly from the application sidebar, eliminating the need to manually navigate through URLs or wait excessively long times after restarting services. A key advantage highlighted is the ability to access the file explorer within the studio, allowing developers to edit core WordPress code, themes, or plugins with instant reflection of changes on their local site without needing to upload files repeatedly to a remote host. This capability makes testing plugin functionality and theme modifications significantly faster and more efficient compared to hosting-based workflows, effectively serving as an ideal sandbox for learning WordPress mechanics or developing custom solutions entirely offline.

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is well.
I am Rashedu Islam Chowdhury.
Many people know me as Rick. This is the
short form of my name. The topic we will
look at today is WordPress Studio.
WordPress Studio is a fun open source
software that allows us to
install WordPress locally on our computers.
Before this, there were many solutions that we had been using for a long time,
such as Jam or
Docker, but those of us who have already used such
software know that
installing WordPress there or
configuring it after installation is a bit troublesome and a bit
difficult, which is mostly because it may
seem a bit difficult for beginners. So
a very nice solution for this that WordPress is bringing
is WordPress Studio. So,
using WordPress Studio, if you are a
plugin developer or theme developer,
or any other type of WordPress
development task, you can complete it here.
Those who are new to
learning WordPress can practice
here and
you can use it for any kind of local development.
It is completely
free and very easy to use.
You can set it up in just a few minutes.
So let's see how we can
download it. So to download it,
you also have to
come to the WordPress Studio website, the link of which is
developerdoors.com. When
you come to this URL,
after scrolling a little, you will see
that Try
WordPress Studio. After clicking here, you will also be taken to the WordPress Studio
download page.
You can download it from here
and you can download it for Windows, Linux, Mac, or
any OS.
So everyone can use it.
After clicking here, you will download the
application that is available
here. If you double-click here, it will be downloaded.
I hope you
know how to
install a software on the Windows operating system
and there are no other steps to install it, so
I did not show it.
Installing it is very easy, just double-click it, there is no more
work to do. Then
here you can use your software
and it takes a little time to install. In
my case, it takes
about four to five minutes.
I am not showing the installation anymore.
However, this
time may take more or less for other computers.
So let's go straight to how to
use it or what
options it has.
So when we open WordPress Studio,
we will see that
we are given three options at the beginning. One
is Build a New Site. Where
we can do our work with a completely fresh WordPress installation. Another one
is Create a Site. So this is for those who are
already using WordPress.com, it's pretty much the same,
and here you can connect your WordPress.com
site here and
you can edit it here or
publish it from here. So the
second option is very useful for those who use press.com, and the third
option is if you have a
backup of your existing website,
you can import it here.
Which is very easy to do. You
just specify your backup folder here and
it will be automatically
configured and installed.
If you have previously
backed up a website in
WordPress Studio. So
today we will see how we can easily install a
new WordPress site for our
development purposes or learning.
So
for that, we will first click on the Build a
New Website option. In the first
option. Then you can see that
we are being given many options here.
So these options are usually the
theme of the theme we are being asked to choose. So let's
not go here.
So here you will see that here again
we are being given four options. One
is MT Site, one is WordPress.com,
the other is WordPress Developer,
and the third option is
WooCommerce.
Now many people may wonder
what the difference is between these three? The difference here is small,
they are saying what is the
difference here, but as far as I can
see, there are actually no
changes here, only some things are happening, the pre-
installed plugin is happening here, that's the
only difference,
as I show you, if you
you can see that after clicking on the live preview,
we can see that the playground is loading in front of us.
A demo installation is being prepared for us. Okay.
So what we did was we were clicking on
your WordPress
Developer
Edition. So as far as we
can see here, there are only some preloaded
plugins like Theme Check Plugin Check,
yes, these plugins are required for developers who are theme developers
or plugin developers,
such as
Query Monitor, these things are
required for them, so
I can't really differentiate here because I
just feel that apart from some pre-installed
plugins, there is no
change here, everything is the same, so what I always do for this is that I
install MT Site, so when I
click on this option MT Site, then
after clicking on Continue here,
I am being told to give a name to the website,
now you can understand this name
for yourself, which is convenient or the
name you
want to use on your website, you can use it as your demo website or test
website.
So in this case, I'm using
my
test like this. Then if we go to the advanced view
you can see here we will be given more
options from
where we are going to be
able to change the PHP version WordPress version so
in this case I am not changing anything
here the admin username and the
password is given you
can see a preset password is
given here so the preset password I am going to be
since this is
for a tutorial I am recording so
I am not changing it
but you will change it because this
password is actually very difficult to remember
so I am not changing the password and
here the username we can see
admin is already given here
since this is a local
installation so in
that case admin is not a problem
but you should always keep in mind when
you
install any live WordPress
for any project you should never
use the username admin because this will result in
a lot of websites being
hacked
so you should
never use the admin username if possible
you should change it
then I will be the one thing we need to keep in
mind that The question is
where will the WordPress you are going to install go and be installed, as
you can see in my case, here it is,
mine is being installed on the C drive, in
your case it will be the same, but it will be
installed inside the folder where your WordPress Studio is on the C drive, so if you
want, you can change the location from here. So
I'm
not changing. You can change it if you want.
Then everything is fine with me. So in
that case, I clicked on the odd site.
Now this will take about one to two minutes.
Because it will
download the WordPress code, install it, and configure
everything with your environment.
So all of this may
take about one to two minutes.
So let's wait until it's complete.
And while you're here,
you'll see that there's a sidebar option here.
From here, you can install as many WordPress
sites as you want, or if you
want to install more WordPress sites, you will
get the option from here after toggling this sitebar.
And as you can see,
I also have WordPress here. The org is
logged in. You
can also log in from here if you want.
You will get more options here by logging in from here. For example,
you can do another MCP from here.
Then in the skills section, you
can see that there are
some more
plugins that you can install from here if you want.
Okay, our WordPress site installation is
complete. You could see.
Okay, now that the WordPress site installation is
complete, let's
see how our WordPress site looks.
So if we
go from here to the side preview, you
can see here that we
have a demo theme that is usually
installed automatically when we install WordPress. The theme
name is 5050 when possible.
So that theme has been installed. So
if I want to view this in my browser,
I'll get two options.
That means I can open this site directly and
see its front end. Or
if I want to eat it on the back end,
I can do that too. There
are two options here. WP Admin and
WP is
your open
local site. I'm clicking directly on the WP admin.
I
will go directly to the admin dashboard. It's taking a while.
It usually
takes a while to open. In the beginning, the
first minute or two when you turn the site
on and off will take a while to load.
This will load properly later. For example, if you
see, if I click now, it will
open very quickly. You could see.
So when you restart the site
or turn it on when your site is off,
it will take a while to load.
So if I click here, you
can see that the front end is loading the
home page. So when I come to my admin
dashboard,
you
can see one thing here that my WordPress
site has been
installed and from here I
can install all the themes and plugins if I want, I
can check what the meaning of any theme is,
what options are available in any plugin, I can check everything from here.
So, for those who
want to learn what WordPress is but do
n't have hosting right now, they can
learn it with WordPress Studio.
Developers can
learn
how to develop a plugin based on your
data. So since it's
running on your computer, you
can edit it very easily. Because in the case of hosting, it is
not that easy to check a plugin by repeatedly uploading it to the hosting.
For this, everyone uses your hall jam or dot dot
acar. So
with WordPress Studio,
you can install a
WordPress website on your
computer much more easily than with Jam or Aker, and it's
very easy. So here I'll
show you a few more options. In the overview, we are
here, directly from here,
when I click on the file explorer, I can
go to the directory of this WordPress installation. Here
you can see the entire WordPress
code, so
we can change anything from this WordPress code and it will
directly affect your WordPress. So
for those who are developing plugins, this is a very
easy and useful
process. Because you could access it very easily
locally.
So I hope you like the video.
Thank you very much everyone.
