How To Start a One-Person Business With Claude AI When You Have a Full-Time Job
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The core strategy for launching a one-person business while maintaining a full-time job is to avoid treating your side venture as a second grind-based job and instead focus on building an asset that generates revenue automatically. Many people fail because they choose models like freelancing, dropshipping, or agency work that require constant personal outreach and effort; these stop moving the moment you stop working, much like running on a treadmill. In contrast, the recommended approach is to create content that acts as a flywheel, continuously attracting buyers around the clock even while you are at work or asleep. This method eliminates the need for expensive paid ads or massive prospecting efforts, allowing you to build a sustainable income stream using only your existing expertise and the "in-between hours" of your day, such as lunch breaks or commutes.
To execute this model effectively, you must first identify a specific niche where you are already an expert, rather than competing in saturated markets like general fitness or productivity. The video illustrates that even boring topics can be highly profitable if they solve specific problems for a targeted audience, citing examples of individuals who made six-figure incomes with tiny channels by selling high-ticket services or coaching to the right buyers. Once your niche is locked in, you should utilize AI tools to streamline production by capturing ideas during short windows of free time, drafting scripts on breaks, and batching all recording sessions into a single weekend block. This workflow ensures that content creation does not encroach on your primary job responsibilities, allowing your business to grow organically through the power of consistent, value-driven content.
The revenue potential of this approach extends far beyond simple ad views, offering multiple streams including affiliate marketing, sponsorships, and direct sales of digital products or high-ticket services. Success stories highlighted in the transcript demonstrate that significant income can be generated with relatively low view counts if the content reaches the correct audience, proving that traffic quality matters more than quantity. By treating your YouTube channel as a "mother platform" that feeds other marketing channels, you create a robust ecosystem where long-form videos drive traffic to shorter clips and direct offers, maximizing conversion rates without requiring a large team or significant capital investment. Ultimately, this strategy transforms your professional knowledge into a scalable asset, enabling you to achieve financial freedom on your own terms while keeping your day job as a safety net.

This is exactly how to start a
one-person business with Claude AI when
you have a full-time job, and I promise
there's a version in here that fits your
schedule. Now, one of the people that
you'll meet today runs his at $185,000
a month, and he started while he was
working a full-time job. And you don't
need startup capital, employees, or a
single line of code, and you can take
the first step this week on your lunch
break. And me, I went $300,000 in
student debt for a pharmacy doctorate
before I figured out that the game was
rigged. So, I built a one-person
business on the side that I wish
somebody had shown me at 25, and I did
it in the in-between hours of a
full-time pharmacy job. And that
one-person business has grown and has
now done over $10 million,
and I've done it by helping thousands of
people in my community reach their own
financial goals. And this matters for
one reason. If a burned-out pharmacist
could build this on his lunch breaks, so
can you. Now, here's where damn near
everyone screws this up. They bolt on a
second job onto their first job.
Freelancing, agency work, drop shipping,
Amazon FBA, models that only move when
you're personally grinding. But, the
smarter move is building the one asset
that pulls buyers to you around the
clock. And more on that later, but do
that and your business grows while
you're at work. And it even grows while
you're asleep. So, maybe you're the
medical worker running 12-hour shifts,
or you're the engineer with no evenings
left, or you're the parent whose free
time is a myth, or you're the owner
wearing every hat in the building.
Either way, something I talk about in
this video is going to work for your
situation. And everything I go over
today is going to be sourced on the
screen with real names and real
receipts. And the version that I would
personally start with is going to be
near the end of this video. So, if you
appreciate me making this type of
content and you want to see me make more
of it in the future, then let me know by
gently cheering that like button.
And let's jump into it right now.
So, let's start with the trap that
catches damn near everybody. Now, one of
our community members, Nathan, is a
literal chess expert, and he has a
one-person business where he literally
gets to do his passion, which is
teaching other people how to get better
at chess, and he makes a full-time
income from that. And he did it with our
model, which is possible to do when
you're still working full-time. But most
people don't do that. Most people choose
a business model that ends up being a
second job, or in some cases it ends up
being harder than their first job. And
there's absolutely no way that you can
do it while you're working a full-time
job, because it ends up being multiple
full-time jobs. And so a lot of these
include freelancing, agencies, drop
shipping, coaching with cold DMs, Amazon
FBA, etc., etc. These are all real
businesses that only move when you are
personally pushing them. And in many of
these cases, the pushing has a name, and
that is outreach. In theory, it sounds
like you wouldn't have to do that much
work, but in reality, what you're going
to be doing is spending all of your time
prospecting with DMs or follow-ups and
discovery calls. Or if you have money,
you're going to have to spend it on paid
ads, which you might as well just come
to accept that you're going to waste at
least $20,000 before you get good enough
to make a profit. And at a real company,
all of those things are not a task,
those are departments. Right? Marketing
teams are five or 10 people deep, and
I've hired them, and that is a real
payroll cost. So the plan is that you'll
do 10 people's jobs at 9:00 p.m., and
this is all after your actual job. Come
on, that's not going to happen.
Meanwhile, look at people actually
winning the one-person game. Justin
Welsh built his one-person business past
$12 million with no employees and 90%
margins, and his entire marketing
department is content. That's it. The
content does the outreach at scale
forever. In fact, he doesn't really have
to outreach to anybody because they're
all coming to him. So think of it like a
treadmill versus a flywheel. A grind
business is like a treadmill. The second
you stop running, everything stops.
Content is a flywheel. Every push keeps
spinning while you sleep, and the pushes
stack on top of each other. And Nathan
knows this all too well because he used
to work in corporate, and it would have
been pretty much impossible for him to
start something on the side. Now, by the
way, I have a bunch of resources in the
light versions of the AI that we give to
our community members, which you can use
to do all the steps of this process that
I'm going to be talking about in this
video. And you can download those by
clicking the third link in the
description and the pin comment below.
All right, YouTube just got 10 times
easier and nobody is talking about it.
You used to need an entire film crew and
it used to be a full-time job for you to
just do any work at all on YouTube. But
now, you can get work done in as little
as 15 to 30 minutes a day and you can
actually grow a full-time YouTube
channel. That's exactly what we'll be
talking about at the live training that
we're doing this week. Exactly how to
grow your YouTube channel. So, click the
link in the description and the pin
comment below to check that out, guys. I
will be answering questions before,
during, and after the live training.
It's completely free. Plus, I'll be
giving away an AI that is designed to
help you pick your niche if you don't
have one in the first place. Or if you
already have a niche, it's going to help
you make it 10 times better. So, really
looking forward to talking with you
guys. This is stuff that we've never
talked about before. So, click that link
in the description and comment below. I
look forward to seeing you there. This
brings us to section two, which is the
traffic truth. And here's the thing that
nobody tells beginners. There's no such
thing as a business that doesn't work.
They all work, right? All the side
hustles, all the businesses, they all
work. Freelancing works, consulting
works, products work, services work.
That's why they're businesses. But every
single one of them starves without the
same one ingredient and that is traffic.
If nobody knows that you exist, nobody
can buy your stuff. It's that simple.
And traffic doesn't just solve the money
problem, it solves damn near every
problem that you could possibly have in
your business. For instance, more
traffic obviously means more money
because you're going to get more sales
from people. And more money means you
can spend money on better software, or
you can hire people to help you, or you
can hire contractors to help you. And
you can buy more of your time back,
which if you have a job, is the whole
ballgame. More traffic also means
there's more people going through your
business, which means you're going to
have feedback and you're going to know
what to improve. Whereas if you're
spending all of your time just trying to
get customers, there's not going to be
that many people going through your
business, and there's just not going to
be that much feedback for you. Now,
quick story. In 1848, a shopkeeper named
Sam Brannan hears that there's gold at
Sutter's Mill, but he doesn't grab a
shovel. First, he quietly buys up every
pick, pan, and shovel in the region.
Then he runs through the streets of San
Francisco waving a bottle of gold dust
screaming, "Gold! Gold on the American
River!" And he prints it in his own
little newspaper. Yes, he owned the
media, too. He manufactured the traffic.
And then he sold the crowd everything
that they needed. He sold all of the
picks, the pans, and the shovels that he
had already bought up. And Brannan
became California's first millionaire
without panning a single ounce. And he
didn't win because he dug harder, he won
because he owned the attention. And that
is exactly what a one-person business
with ConvertKit does. The content is
your newspaper, but your offer is the
shovels. Now, you want the modern
version? Adam, one of our community
members, is a realtor in Austin, and he
built the attention asset, and now he
has warm buyers coming to him every
single month from content that he
already made on YouTube. And he's one of
the go-to realtors in the Austin area.
And if you're planning on moving to
Austin, Texas, definitely check his
channel out. But here's how to start. If
you already have a business, don't
change what your business sells. Change
how it gets found. Write down the one
skill or subject that you could talk
about for an hour with zero notes, and
that's the seed of your traffic asset.
And I already know your next objection,
"I don't have time." Well, this is
exactly what we're going to be talking
about here in a moment. And that brings
us to section three, which is the
in-between hours. Now, let me be real
with you. The time objection is the one
that I respect the most because I lived
it. I was a pharmacist, white coat, name
tag, the whole thing. And $300,000 in
student loan debt for the privilege. And
I was standing at that counter knowing
that the math just wasn't mathing. It
would never work for me. So, I started a
one-person content business, and here's
the part that actually matters. I built
almost all of it in the in-between
hours. For instance, I wrote scripts on
my lunch break. While I would go on
walks, I voice recorded ideas while I
was driving to work and while I was
driving home. 20 minutes before the
shift, 30 minutes after dinner, while I
was waiting in line at the DMV, the
switching time between tasks, the time
that most people burn on their phone.
That's where most of the business got
built. And then I batched, right? I
would do the ideas in one sitting. Then
I would do the scripts across a week of
breaks. And then I would record
everything in one shot on the weekend,
schedule it, and then go back to work
while it publishes itself. And my
co-workers just thought that I was bad
at relaxing, but that in-between hours
one-person business has now done over
$10 million.
And in case you think I'm special, I'm
not. I ran the exact same playbook on my
50-year-old brother, a guy who is not
tech-savvy, a guy who's never made a
video in his life, and a guy who's never
made a dollar online. And I'll show you
the numbers in a minute. So, here's the
model, plainly, a video diary of what
you already know. You document what you
know for the exact person who needs it,
and the content becomes your marketing.
It sells whatever your service is, or
your product, or your expertise, or you
can just make money directly from the
content itself. And every other
one-person business asks for your hours,
this one runs on your gaps because
Claude is doing the heavy lifting inside
of them. Now, you might be thinking,
"Well, Shane, I'm exhausted after work."
And I hear you, and that's exactly why
the batching matters. You're never
relying on tonight's energy, you're
banking tiny deposits, a cumulative
ideas here, a lunch break script there,
one Saturday morning of recording that
feeds you for 2 weeks. So, this is how
to start. This week, don't create
anything, just capture. Voice memo for
every idea, story, and opinion about
your subject during your commutes. Then
take one lunch break, paste the
transcripts into Claude, and have it
turn your three strongest ideas into
simple outlines. Or, you can have it
turn it into an entire script. And
that's it. You now have more of a
content plan than 90% of people who quit
ever had. So, here's a Claude prompt.
I'm going to put it up on the screen.
You can screenshot it, put it into
Claude, and it will actually interview
you until it has enough context to give
you a really good answer for this. And
this is going to help get the creative
juices flowing. Now, by the way, you're
probably thinking, "Well, Shane, I
really love this, but I need help
picking my niche, or I need help getting
started on YouTube, right? I need to
know, step-by-step, exactly how to get
started." Well, luckily for you, I have
a live training this week where I will
show you exactly how to do that, and
exactly how I helped my brother Zach go
from zero to a full-time income in less
than 1 month. And you can check that out
by clicking the link in the description
and the pin comment below. And at this
live training, I'll also be giving away
an AI that helps you pick your niche if
you haven't picked it in the first
place, or it'll help you make your niche
10 times better if you already have one.
So, do not miss out on that. Click that
link in the description and the pin
comment below. And even if you're
watching this in the future, still click
it because it'll automatically put you
on the waitlist for whenever we do the
next live training. And I look forward
to seeing you there. I'll be answering
any questions that you have as well.
Okay, so it's time for the conversation
you knew was coming. Where does this
video diary live? YouTube. And before
you roll your eyes, here the business
case, because it's not what you think.
Nobody else pays you in five different
ways. Add revenue is just the floor. You
get that from the ads that pop up on
your channel. Last month, we made about
$33,000 from AdSense, and that was less
than 5% of the total income we made from
this channel. So, you can make a ton of
money just from AdSense alone. Zach went
from zero to $214 a day in AdSense in
less than 1 month. Nurse Jen went from
zero to $10,000 in a single month just
from AdSense alone a few months after
she started her channel. So, you can
make a full-time income just from the
AdSense alone, and the coolest thing is,
that is just the floor. The next one up
is affiliate marketing. This is where
you just talk about products and
services that you already like, and you
promote them on your channel so that
other people can use them as well. And
you can get paid to do that. Then you've
got sponsorships. And between affiliate
marketing and sponsorships, sometimes
you can make five to 10 times more than
what you're making just from AdSense
alone. Then you've got low-to-medium
ticket products. And this is usually
something that's very easy to make that
you can sell over and over again,
something like a resume template, or a
notion template, or a nursing study
guide to pass pharmacology for nurses,
or something along those lines. And you
can just make it one time and sell it
over and over again. I would also put in
this category something like a school
group where people pay a recurring
monthly membership to be a part of a
group and they get access to a course
inside of that. And then, at the very
top, you've got services and coaching
and this is honestly where the real
money is. And typically, this is going
to be high-ticket buyers. So, almost all
of the most successful businesses that I
know out there sell either a service or
coaching to high-ticket buyers. And I've
gone to a lot of different business
conferences out there and this is the
most common business that results in
very successful businesses. And the
reason for this is just because of the
numbers. If you're selling a $5,000
service or a $5,000 coaching program,
you only have to get two sales a month
to make it to $10,000 a month. That is
actually not that hard to do. It is
significantly harder to sell a thousand
people a $10 product than it is to sell
two people a $5,000 product. And if you
attend my live training, you'll see
example after example after example. And
most of the examples from those people,
they were selling high-ticket products
and services. So again, click the link
in the description and the pin comment
below to check that out. Now, nobody
decides to spend five figures with you
off of a 30-second clip or after reading
one of your tweets. They decide after
sitting with you for 15, 20, or 30
minutes. Take Josh, an IT and
cybersecurity guy. He was one of my
community members and he got to $185,000
in a single month and he did it not from
ads, but from the stack. He was selling
things at all of these different levels.
So, the content brings the buyers, but
the offers catch them. And the
short-form platforms, they're
satellites, right? Claude can chop up
your long-form video on YouTube and make
five to 10 clips that you can then
syndicate or distribute to the other
platforms in an automated fashion. And
then every clip can point back home to
one asset, which is the asset that
actually converts people, which is
long-form YouTube. And that doesn't
really take any extra time. So, you can
think of YouTube as your mother
platform. And you can do this with tools
like Claude. You can also use other
tools like Opus if you wanted to
automatically edit your videos. Now,
let's talk about the niche lock Claude
edition because this is the step that
decides everything else. And here's the
thesis that I need tattooed on your
brain, okay? This has to be seared into
your soul. Get the niche right and
mediocre content still wins. Get it
wrong and beautiful content dies in
silence. Proof? Nate, one of our
community members. He coaches pool,
billiards. That's about as unsexy as
niches get and he locked in the right
pond, fixed his packaging, and videos
started pulling 20,000 views in a matter
of days pushing the channel straight
into actually making money. Pool, guys,
right? Now, your boring day job
knowledge is somebody else's gold mine.
Pool is a really hard niche to monetize,
but teaching people how to get into
governance, risk, and compliance, like
Nicole does, is actually quite easy. And
she made it to $80,000 in a single month
doing this. And if you're thinking that
you need a lot of views to do this, you
don't. For instance, Carla, who helps
business owners hire key positions on
their team, and sometimes she hires
entire departments for them, had a tiny
YouTube channel with about 1.5k
subscribers and her videos got 100 to
200 views each and she closed a
six-figure contract from YouTube. Yes, a
$106,200 contract straight from her
YouTube channel from videos that were
getting 100 to 200 views per video. And
she did it with a boring business. So,
the mistake is fishing in the ocean like
productivity, fitness, money, or gaming
channel. You will drown next to a
million creators making the same thing.
What you want to do is start off by
fishing in a small pond where your work
experience makes you one of maybe five
credible voices in the water. And this
is where Claude earns its keep. It takes
your job history, your interest, and
what people actually pay for, and it
triangulates ponds that you've never
seen on your own. Now, I still highly
recommend that you show up to my live
training because at the live training
you will get the personalized version to
help you pick your niche. But, just to
get you started before the live
training, go ahead and screenshot this
prompt and put it into Claude. And then
here's how to start. Run the prompt
above on one lunch break or whenever you
have some free time, shortlist three
ponds, and pick the one where you have
receipts, stories, results, scars, etc.
Then lock it in and start. Sitting on
the decision for 3 months cost you more
than picking the wrong one and then just
adjusting over time. Now, let's talk
about the weekend batch sprint. So,
let's assemble the machine. 30 days
built for someone with a job. Week one,
lock the pond, attend my live training,
capture ideas on your commutes, get a
niche formulated. Week two, scripts on
lunch breaks. First video goes up, not
perfect, just up. Then week three, one
Saturday morning, you batch record three
videos and you schedule them. Week four,
three more videos and then you get your
offer ready because getting the views is
really important. You can absolutely
make a full-time income just with the
views alone, but it's much better to be
like Carla, who doesn't have to get that
many views and she's still making a
full-time income from her YouTube
channel cuz she can get a couple hundred
views and have a 1,500 subscriber
channel and still close a $100,000
contract. Right? So, this is where
having a really good offer and selling
the right thing to the right person
comes in handy. And again, that's
something we will cover on the live
training so I highly recommend you check
that out by clicking the link in the
description and the pin comment below.
Because you don't need views, you need
the right pond in front of the right
buyers. Because there's a very good
chance when you post your videos, you're
only going to get 80 views, but that is
not a reason to quit. 80 of the right
people is a full pipeline if you're
targeting the right audience. So, you
didn't fail, you either aimed wrong or
you quit early and both of those are
fixable. What's not fixable is the year
that you're about to waste by not
starting and that would be a damn shame.
Now, if you're wondering which version
that I'd personally run if I still had
my pharmacy job, it's this one. Exactly
this sprint. Voice memos Monday to
Friday while I'm commuting or while I'm
taking a walk or whatever, literally
just talking into my phone, then
dropping the voice memos into Claude and
writing scripts on lunch, right? So,
writing scripts while I'm in my lunch
break or maybe going to the bathroom,
etc., etc. Then I batch record on a
Saturday or Sunday and then I schedule
the content and forget it. And it's not
just Carla, by the way. Laura, 600
subscribers, landed her first 10 paying
buyers. Craig was stuck for years, and
he got 40,000 total views after years of
posting on YouTube. And then one of his
first videos with us got over 100,000
views. Raggie's at 1.4 million views and
closing in on 30,000 subscribers, and
she has a seven-figure business. Jud has
a 500,000 subscriber YouTube channel,
and he makes really good money. And Sean
was stuck making $30,000 a month for
years, and we helped him scale all the
way up to over $500,000 in a single
month. And I could just go on and on.
Different jobs, different niches, but
the same system. So, open your calendar
right now and place three blocks for
this week. Write 10 voice memos across
your commutes, two lunch break cloud
sessions, and one 90-minute Saturday
recording slot. Then, write one-line
version of your offer, what you'd sell
and for how much, so that something is
ready to catch buyers by day 30. So,
here's the whole plan one time. Skip the
second job trap. Own the traffic. Build
the in-between hours. Video diary on the
mother platform. Lock the pond and run
the sprint. Your job was never the
obstacle, it's the funding. Now, I know
that 99% of you will take this video and
run with it yourselves. And that's
exactly what I want you to do. Start
with the free workshop, links below. And
like I said, I know that 99% of you are
going to watch my content, get a ton of
value, download my free resources, get a
ton of value, and attend my live
training, and get a ton of value from
those, and we are never going to end up
working together, and that's completely
okay. I always want to give 10 or even
100 times more value than what I
receive, and expect nothing in return.
With that being said, there's going to
be 1% of you out there, maybe 0.1, who
want a hand-holding one-on-one
mentorship experience. Or, you want us
to literally just do the work for you.
And we can only work with a few people
at a time to do this. Right now, we're
accepting five people to work with
one-on-one. But if that sounds like you,
go ahead and click the second link in
the description and the pin comment
below in order to schedule a call to
apply to work with us. On this call,
we'll figure out where you are right
now, where you want to be, we'll make a
plan to get there, and we'll see if
you're a good fit to work together or
not. We only accept about 18% of people
who want to work with us, so only apply
if you're very serious about growing and
making money on YouTube. The types of
people we typically work with are
professionals with at least 10 years of
experience or people that are
overachievers who have a lot of value to
give and they can educate people and
help people in the world or business
owners that want to get more views, get
more leads, get more sales, and generate
more revenue because of their YouTube
channel as well as building their brand.
Or YouTubers who are getting a lot of
views, but they want help with
monetization. Or YouTubers that are
crushing it, but they want to crush even
harder. Or people that have large
followings on other social media
platforms or they have a big audience
because of a book they wrote and they
want to bring that audience over to
YouTube. Basically, people who are
experts and they want to bring their
audience to YouTube because they know
that it's the best one. So again, if
that sounds like you, go ahead and book
a call by clicking the link in the
description in the pin comment below.
But we can only work with about five
people right now, so only do it if
you're very serious about growing and
making money on YouTube. And with that
being said, check out this video right
here to see exactly how we help Nurse
Jen go from a stressful nursing job to
being able to travel the entire country
in her camper van and make $10,000 a
month just from AdSense alone, living
her dream life, and she did it all with
the same exact one-person business that
I talked about in this video, and you
can check that out by clicking right
here.
