home vlog: putting some boundaries in place, scrolling ban update & craft with me!
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video begins with a cozy Tuesday morning update where the creator shares her progress on setting healthy digital boundaries. She explains that she recently used a "brick" device to lock herself out of social media apps for over twelve hours, successfully resisting the urge to scroll short-form content while still enjoying long-form videos like YouTube. Inspired by a conversation in therapy about establishing limits, she aims to replace mindless scrolling with creative hobbies and mindful check-ins regarding her physical needs. This shift has already helped her feel ahead on work tasks, allowing her to dedicate her days off to meaningful activities rather than feeling constantly tethered to her phone out of fear of missing out.
To combat what she calls "brain rot," the creator spends the day engaging in various crafting projects starting with air-dried clay fridge magnets. Although she admits her initial attempts at shaping strawberries and buttons are a bit wonky, she embraces the imperfections as part of a relaxing process. She then moves on to using her Cricut machine to add black iron-on stars to a sweatshirt, noting that limited space in her home is the only real barrier to doing more projects. After cutting out the shapes, she uses an easy press to apply them to her garment, appreciating how the simple addition of stars gives the shirt a homemade yet polished look without being too busy.
The afternoon continues with the creation of an autumn-themed star garland and catching up on her junk journaling. She selects earthy tones like maroon and brown for the garland, which she strings together and hangs in her living room to add a pop of color that can remain year-round. Simultaneously, she works through pages dedicated to July and August, incorporating photos from recent trips to Disneyland and coffee dates alongside stickers and receipts. She acknowledges that junk journaling is time-intensive but finds satisfaction in organizing her memories, even if the process isn't always perfect or efficient.
The day concludes with a final crafting session where she paints the dried clay magnets using acrylic markers, accepting that some designs look more like abstract shapes than their intended objects. After hanging the finished garland and displaying the painted magnets on her fridge, she enjoys leftovers from lunch, including a large sweet potato. Reflecting on the long day of creativity, she expresses gratitude to her viewers for joining her in this nervous system reset and promises to continue balancing regular vlogs with these cozy, boundary-focused activities in future videos.

This isn't serious. [music]
This is just like,
how do we feel about that? Too late.
Smarty doing it. I'm not going to tell
you how long that took.
Closer. This one isn't my best work.
Okay, look how cute [music]
my little cuties. I'm getting to the
stage
where I don't [music] care anymore. Good
morning everybody. Welcome back to
another vlog. It is a Tuesday morning
and it is so cloudy, so cozy. It is in
fact going to be sunny and hot today,
but we're going to enjoy this cloudy
morning while we have it. I made myself
a hot coffee this morning because it's
like cool and cozy and I love it. I've
been just picking up around the house. I
got to do some like chores and random
things today. And as a little update, if
you guys watched my last vlog, you know
that I have started using my brick
again, my like brick device, which is
basically a device that locks you out of
your social media apps until you
physically get up and like tap your
phone on the device to unlock it. And
yesterday I decided to like unbrick my
phone and it had been 1 day, 0 hours,
and 28 minutes, which is I mean
truthfully the longest I've gone. I
mean, maybe if I've been like sick or
something or I don't know, like
traveling, but other than that, like I I
genuinely don't think there's been a day
where I haven't been on a social media
app like ever. So, that's amazing. And
yeah, I've been locked out of my phone
again for another 12 hours and 31
minutes. So, like when I've been waking
up in the morning, I've been either
scrolling on Pinterest, doing work
things, even like watching YouTube. Like
I don't consider YouTube to be like
social media social media. Like I can
watch long form videos and feel
absolutely fine. It's like the short
form content that really kind of gets to
me. And just the act of like doing this.
I always have a really long watch later
list on YouTube. Like that's just kind
of I'm I'm like perpetually on YouTube.
That is my TV honestly. And yeah,
yesterday after I ended the last vlog, I
ended up having like the entire
afternoon to edit that vlog to catch up
on work things. It's like I've just been
getting so much more done basically is
what I'm trying to say. So, I feel
really good about that. I feel a little
bit ahead on work. And what I thought I
would do is a little bit of crafting.
It's feeling like a cozy hobbies kind of
day. And again, I want to implement more
things on my days off where I am not on
my phone, you know. And I was talking
about in therapy even yesterday because
yeah, it's like a very real thing that
we all deal with. And my therapist was
talking about having some healthy
boundaries in place when it comes to
using my phone, like maybe having
certain times of the day that you don't
use your phone, having certain areas of
your house that you don't bring your
phone into. Um, making sure that you are
really checking in with yourself when
you're scrolling on your phone, like
checking to see if you need to go to the
bathroom, if you need nutrition, if you
need hydration, you know, all these
different kinds of things. and trying to
put some some boundaries in place
because yeah, I cannot have free reign.
I think that's just the way my ADHD
brain works. I think that's just also
the way we've been trained over the
years to be with our phones is just like
so I say this as my phone is right next
to me. Like I'm still working on that
part of it. But even like in the last
couple of days, I've been afraid if I'm
like missing something like I'm like
what if I'm missing some important world
event and I haven't shared it or
whatever, but it's like I can just like
read the newspaper or check the news.
Like I don't know. It is crazy how
reliant we are on technology and I am
doing my best to fix that. So we are
going to do something else instead of
brain rot today. We are going to be
creative. We are going to do some
hobbies. We are going to make some
crafts. I would love to finish some of
the projects that I've been meaning to
finish for a while. You know, just
little things like that here and there
that I would like to do. I want to catch
up on my junk journal. You know, we're
just going to have a cozy day together.
So, first thing on the list is because
certain things take time to like dry or
whatever. I'm going to start with I
think making some of these really cute
clay fridge magnets. So, like I'm just
using air dried clay, but you can use
whatever. and just hopefully making them
into cute little shapes and designs and
then like painting them into something
cute. Gluing a little magnet on the back
of it and sticking it on the fridge more
just for decoration, but I mean it's
useful as well. And that just sounds
like something that I would really
really enjoy. So, I think we're going to
[clears throat] start there. All right.
Welcome to my little cozy corner. My
cozy crafting corner. Got my clay here.
It's just like modeling clay. I'm going
to grab a chunk. I just realized that my
hands are going to get dirty.
It's fine. All right. I tried a couple
things and it was not going very well.
So, I think what I'm going to do instead
is do some fruit cuz I feel like that's
my wheelhouse. That's where I'm
comfortable. It's also really easy to
like mold, you know? I think I'm
starting with a strawberry.
There we go. It'll do. And then I'll
make like a little stem for the top. I
mean, is it my best work? No. Is it kind
of wonky and cute? Yes. So, we will set
that aside and let that dry for later.
And then I think I might do something a
little more simple that I can paint over
later. So, like a little oval.
There we go. I might make like a little
plate. That's really cute. I also think
a button or a couple of buttons would be
adorable. So like flatten it,
smooth it, and then just add little
dents for the button holes.
Little button. I see a little piece of
toast with a stick of butter on top. And
that looks so cute. So I'll try that.
Again, we're just having fun with it.
This isn't serious. This is for
relaxation.
This sponge has like a tiny bit of water
on it. It kind of just helps like smooth
it out a bit. I might also oops, sorry,
dip my fingers in the water, too, just
to get it to do what I want. I don't
know if this [clears throat] is the
right method, but this is the method I'm
using.
[laughter]
I mean, sure, why not? So, let's let
those dry. I think I'm good there, and
we will move on to our next craft. All
right, we've moved over to a different
space. I need more room for this, like
more surface. And next, I am going to do
a Cricut project. I am so in love with
my Cricut. Um, and I've had it for I've
had this one. It's the Joy Extra for
like almost a year now, and I've been
[clears throat] loving doing little
projects on it, but I always put it off.
And if you guys watched the last time we
did like a crafting night together, one
night I had like a solo night in, and I
started this, and I made this crew neck
sweatshirt and it says lucky girl. But I
want to add some stars to it. I want to
add like black and possibly leopard
stars. I'm going to start with black and
see how I feel, but possibly leopard as
well cuz I think that'd be really cute.
So, I just want to add some extra
pizzazz to it. So, I think I must have
already started this and then just never
finished it. So, I actually already have
the project like pulled up and ready to
go. So, all I have to do is make it
reorganized so things are easier. So,
this mat has like a little sticky thing
on it. I'm using this black ironon. I
think this one might be a puff, like a
puffy one. I'm not sure, though. It
sucks because the ironon paper doesn't
match the size of the mat, so you kind
of have to cut it. But, I mean, not a
big deal. Then I load the mat.
Then it just like aligns the mat for
you. And then we go. I need to use this
more. Really the only thing that like
prevents me is just not having like the
big setup for it. We have a pretty small
space in this house and so it's like
hard to have like a designated area so
everything always gets put away. So
really that's the only thing that
prevents me from doing it more is like
putting it away and having to get it
back out kind of thing. But it really
doesn't take long. A big project for
Drew and I like probably after the
holidays or maybe leading up to it. I'm
not sure. Maybe we'll do it for Vlogmas
or something. Is I don't even know if
I'm doing Vlogmas honestly. We'll talk
about that later. But is cleaning out
our garage. Like we need to like
organize things better. We need to get
some storage shelves. Like we need to do
a big garage organization thing. You go
queen.
Now we will take this away. And then I
need to cut out all of my little stars.
I'm going to start with like a couple
big ones, couple mediums, couple smalls,
and then we'll go from there cuz like I
don't I just kind of did a lot. I don't
really know know if I'm going to need
that many. Then my favorite part is you
take this little weeding tool. It's like
a little hook almost and you get rid of
everything outside of the shape that
you're actually using. So you just like
stick your little thing in there, pull
it off, and then the backing that's left
is sticky. So, like you do like this
basically. Okay. Well, sometimes it
comes off in one piece, sometimes it
doesn't. But then you're left with your
little shape that you printed and then
when you stick it down on your garment,
the sticky part helps it not move when
you do the ironon. It's so nice. I'm
going to do that for all six of my
little stars. [music]
Something I could probably work on in
the future is like lining these up
better when I'm creating my projects so
that I'm not wasting a lot of the
material. Like I'm wasting quite a bit
in the space that I have to cut around
it and stuff. So that can be something
to try and like look up and perfect in
the future. I'm feeling good about this.
I can't remember if I've said this or
not, but I think I'm just going to stop
at black. I don't think I'm going to do
leopard cuz I've already done leopard
stars on another hoodie that I have. And
I think I'm just going to do black for
this one. Just a little black, white,
and red moment.
There we go. Put our little tools away.
And then we're going to get out our It's
called an easy press. It's basically
just a big old iron. And it's so nice
because you can cover such a massive
surface all at one time instead of using
an iron and having to go over it a bunch
of different times. It's pretty great.
All right. Now, I'm going to put I'm
preheating my um Easy Press thing, my
iron based on the heat guide. Crricut
has like a heat guide. This isn't
sponsored, by the way. They have
sponsored me in the past, but genuinely,
I'm just using this. I have bought
materials with my own money since then.
Like, I love them. But they have like a
heat guide thing um on their website and
you can just look up like the type of
material you're using um like the type
of ironon material and then it'll tell
you what temperature and for how long to
iron it on for. So I'm going to do my
star configuration here.
Yeah, that's cute. How do we feel about
that? Two legs. I'm already doing it.
So, now we just take our iron. I'm going
put this down on the ground. You press
it. And you don't even have to do
anything because you just hit the button
and the timer goes for you. And it said
firm pressure.
And it says to peel off while it's still
warm.
Oo,
[music]
this is cute.
There we have it. It's so so cute. I
want to even add more, I think, in the
future. But I'm good with that for right
now. Let me know if you think I should
add some like leopard stars in here, but
I just think it's really cute like this.
Like I like the simplicity of it, but it
just adds a little something extra and
it looks homemade, but not like too
homemade, you know? I really like it.
All right. Now, I came up here because I
just really want to sit in my comfy
chair. Now, we're going to do a star
garland. I actually meant to do this
when I was in Arizona and then I
realized that I had left this paper
here. So, I want to do something like
this where it's like just a very simple,
very cute way to bring in some color.
I'm going to use I just hit myself in
the face with that. Some like fun colors
that I think will go well with our
living room, but also like maybe a
couple pops of color. Like I don't want
it to be rainbow by any means, but I
think adding a few different shades in
there might be nice. Definitely some
browns and like darker colors, but also
like a yellow. And then we'll just kind
of go from there. I want it to be like
autuminal, but also something that can
stay year round. Oh, I'm liking this
color. It's like a maroon. Okay, I think
that's pretty much it. We'll start
there. And basically what I think I'm
going to do is just make one star kind
of guide with one outline if you will
and then just trace that. And then I'm
just going to add them to a string. I
haven't decided yet if I'm going to do
like a hole punch through each of the
stars and then put it through a string.
I brought a huge ball of string back
with me from Arizona that I I think I
thrifted or maybe I could do like a hot
glue situation or something, but I feel
like the hole punch would probably be
the easiest. So, I am not very good at
drawing stars. Let me just let me just
take a look here. I'm not going to tell
you how long that took. It's fine. We
got there at [laughter] the end.
[music]
Look how cute. All right. Now that I've
got all my stars, I'm going to arrange
them, I guess, in the order that I want
them to go in. And then we'll just hole
punch them and string them.
[music]
I need to be triple checking these cuz
some of these are doubles. [music]
Okay, things are starting to fall apart.
But look how cute. Once I get it hung
up, it'll be much better. But at least
everything's strung on there and then I
can just like separate them. So, let's
go hang it on. I think maybe the mantle
downstairs. All right, I'm going to tape
it up. I'm just using tape. Could
probably use hooks or whatever you feel
like using. All right, now I'm just
going to spread these out as like evenly
as possible. I might have to go in with
like a little piece of tape or something
and like tape each one down. But like,
can you see how cute that is? That
little pop of color is everything. So,
yeah. I think I'm I think I might just
like take a tiny little piece of tape or
glue or something. Maybe hot glue and
just sort of like set it so that it's
front facing. All right. Just use some
tape on the back of all of them. Looks
so much better. Also, there usually is a
plant right here, but it wasn't doing
very well in that spot. So, it's
actually outside at the moment, but just
picture a gorgeous plant right there
next to it. Also, please ignore these
cords. These are going to be gone soon.
So, also pretend like those aren't
there. All right, just kidding. Also,
ignore, sorry, the sound of the air
fryer is going in the background because
I'm making a sweet potato for lunch, but
I just said something to Drew. I was
like, "Can we move the cords?" And he
was like, "Oh, yeah. I'll do it right
now."
See, that's what I'm talking about.
Perfect. Clean. I mean, there's that
thing. Luckily, the previous tenants
left that cuz we do use it. But yeah,
we're going to Maybe I'll even just put
a temporary plant here just so we can
see. Okay, now we're talking. I brought
in our fus from outside just to give a
an idea. And I'm definitely envisioning
like a small thin Christmas tree here
for Christmas time. But wow, look at
that. I'm so pleased.
>> [music]
>> All right, we are going to catch up on
my junk journal. The last thing I did
was the Hillary Duff concert page. This
was in July. This was at the beginning
of July. We're midepptember at this
point. So, uh, we need to really ramp
things up. So, I think what I'm going to
do is do like a July page, just like
anything that I have from July and then
anything that I have from August. We'll
see how that goes. TVD on that. I really
do still struggle with like when I'm
making something. I don't know, having
it be the most perfect or the most
thorough or the most efficient or
whatever. And it's like, girl, it does
not have to be that serious. So, this is
my little pouch that I keep with all my
junk. Got a Disneyland pass or parking
receipt. These are all August, so we'll
start an August pile. Got a coffee shop
thing. Oh, I think that's when Drew and
I went to Strawberry Wild Strawberry
Cafe. This is again from August. I went
on a coffee date with Emma and Alexa.
We've got photos from I think these are
all July. And I'm really not going to go
too crazy with the backgrounds either. I
think I'm just going to pick one solid
background for each. I think this is
really cute. this like kind of faded
green and pink polka dot.
Fold that a bit. I just realized that I
put away the scissors when I finished
making the garland. So, let me get
those.
This bag is everything. It's being my
girl. It's just got everything I need.
So, sorry for the sound of the air
fryer. Just pretend you're here with me.
You know, you're part of the experience.
There we go. Now we just assemble. So,
we're going to do this photo booth
picture of me and my friend Emma. That
was really cute. We got our doughnut
order from I think it was called Olly
Bali Donuts. We have just some pictures
with like our friends from when we went
back to Arizona. I think I showed all of
this stuff last time, but I didn't end
up actually like using it. So,
we're going to just start going.
Let me get my life stickers ready to go
as well. I have a picture of one of our
nieces and Drew asleep on the couch.
It's so cute. I'll put that somewhere.
I love this picture of me and Drew at
Disneyland. I just think it's so cute.
Got to add that obviously. Listen. This
one isn't my best work. Okay. But it'll
do. I mean, it's not perfect, but it's
something. And now I'm going to do this
spread, which is going to be I guess
August. We'll do two pages for August.
And I think I might do just polaroids
for August and then some of the junk.
But that's it. Like I'm going to keep it
really simple and that way I just feel
nice and caught up and satisfied. I
think for one of my pages I'm literally
just going to start putting down these
stickers cuz I really need to get rid of
them. And um just sounds nice. So I
think I'm just going to make an entire
collage of stickers.
[music]
>> [music]
>> Then I'm just going to fill in all of
the gaps.
Look how cool that page looks. Just like
a collage page. I don't know. I'm
skipping ahead. I'm going to print eight
[music] of these Polaroids. I'm going to
do another collage on the other side.
And I'm going to have it say a U G U S
T. And then all the August. And that's
going to be that. Perfect. Beautiful.
[music]
Uhoh, I'm out of glue stick.
See, like this is why I need to do junk
journaling more because it's been like
an hour of footage of this. Like I have
just been going and trying to get all of
this done. It's been like an hour. It's
just very time inensive and sometimes I
like a quicker hobby that I can just
sort of do my thing and not spend a ton
of time on it. So maybe need to start
doing this more regularly
so that it's not so,
you know,
[music]
Okay, I think that's it for me. There we
have it. I did August 2026.
And that is
my final junk journaling for the day.
[music]
Having leftovers for lunch. The world's
largest sweet potato. Like I don't even
think I can fully display how big the
sweet potato is. We have some leftover
chicken and some steamed broccoli. Okay,
we're back in the cozy corner. This is
our final thing of the day because our
little magnets, well soon to be are dry.
So I'm going to try and figure out like
if I can use these acrylic paint
markers. So I feel like that's a lot
easier than like getting out the paint
and doing all of that. So, like I'm
thinking where should I start? Start
with the strawberry. I don't know how
easy this is going to be with a marker.
But my plan is to like paint all of
these and then just go over the top with
some clear Mod Podge. I think that'll do
her. Feel like for some things this
marker might be faster, but for this I
feel like it might be slower. You can't
even see what I'm doing. I also made
myself Well, I had this with my lunch,
but I added a true lemon packet to my
Diet Coke.
Oo, she's tiny.
All right. Well, you know, um, it's not
like the best thing I've ever done. I
was like, at first it kind of looks like
a strawberry. My holes are too big, so
now it just looks like a apple with
wormholes. We're going to keep moving.
Next, I'm going to try my
Should I do my plate?
Maybe. Maybe I'll do the butter toast.
We're going to do our butter yellow.
[music]
Kind of jumping all over the place, but
you know, that's no worries. Here's our
little piece of butter toast. I'm
getting to the stage
where I don't care anymore, but I am
almost done.
All right, here's the three that
survived. the butter toast, the plate.
That doesn't really look like a plate,
but that's okay. And the watermelon.
And they're going on the fridge. Here
they are. My little cuties.
Love. All right, everybody. That is
going to do it for me today. I have My
cup runth over with crafting time. Let
me tell you. I've been crafting quite
literally all day. It's 3:00 p.m. Um,
but I've enjoyed it. So, yeah. I hope
you did, too. and maybe you feel a
little bit of a nervous system reset as
well. Thank you guys so much for being
here. Thanks for spending time with me.
Thank you also for being down when I'm
just in the mood to like do things like
this and then also do regular vlogs and
you know everything in between. I really
really appreciate it. Love you guys so
much and I will see you very soon in the
next vlog. Bye.
[music]
