Man, what the f? It's a little bit nerve-wracking, eh? [music] Good morning world. Welcome back to the channel. We are in a place called Java and we spent last night here in this cute home stay. We had some food yesterday here and Ollie doesn't feel very good. So, let me check out how he feels now. Good morning, my little love. People who watch this channel, they know that my stomach is very strong. Anyway, so I will let Ollie rest a little bit more and I will have a little walk around here in this amazing village with the Roving Naga. He can show me around a little bit. They're using a lot of firewood to cook and to >> Yeah. I mean they're burning every morning that they're making a fire. Right. They have the pigs there. Then they have the firewood there. They have some uh chicken roaming around and then the traditional housing. Yeah. With the horns on the top. >> Yeah. The horns are there because they have given fish to the whole village. After that they can put that horns up in the proudly put the horns in the house >> to let people know that yes the owner of this house has given fish to the whole village. >> That's nice. >> It's cool. Right. Meat is a luxury thing uh in our society. We don't have cash and stuff back then. >> Yeah. >> Meat and rice beer. What's this stuff? You know they will they will make a lot of rice beer. They will cut a lot of they will slaughter a lot of animals and they will just marry you know feast and after that they can put these things up. >> Amazing. Yeah. I think I was laying in bed for like 36 hours in between toilet breaks of course and I was just munching on some digestive biscuits, some banana and Lavi the wonderful was bringing me tea and eventually everything cleared up and yeah, I feel pretty good. Plus guys, look at that over there. What is that? Blue skies. It's kind of a good thing that we delayed our ride yesterday. And we can see Kappamo Zu Peak up there is completely clear as well. So, we should get some really nice views when we get up there. Come on, let's hit the road before the weather changes. But yeah, this village is a muddy place. I just cleaned Roving's goggles. He said he can see something again. Good morning, world. Welcome back to the channel. It's ride number 31 on our motorcycle adventure exploring the northeast of India. And Ollie didn't feel very well yesterday. So, I had the chance yesterday to walk around with Roving and our lovely host. It was super super interesting. Oh, wait a second. We have to go up here. Oh my god, I'm so happy that it's not raining today, man. >> Yeah, definitely. >> And yesterday, we had the chance as well to talk to one of the village eldest. So, there were like three girls and they were so nice. One of them were 100 years old. The other one was 95. They were just sitting around chatting and we joined them. I actually asked them if they went up to the peak here and they said they never went up to the peak. >> Yeah, this village is really, really special. It's a very special village. >> It really felt like we were going back in time like a 100red years. >> Yes. And all the firewood outside their houses. I mean, it's insane. They really showed me yesterday that they actually don't need anything um coming in from the outside. They had their own animals. They have their own uh vegetables. They have their firewood. They can make their own clothes. They have everything they need to be self sustainable. >> But we didn't come all this way to see Java. We came here for this mountain ahead, Kappa Peak. >> This peak is about 2,600 m high. And yesterday it was completely in the clouds and completely raining. So, it's so nice that it's nice and dry. And we have even some blue skies up there. I think we're going to have an epic view up there. >> Yeah, Capamoto is one of the major peaks of Nagaland. It's actually a table mountain, so it's quite flat on the top, but it's I think it's the tallest tabletop mountain in Nagaland. But yeah, the road up to it is pretty gnarly. We could have never made it up here if it was raining. No chance. >> Yesterday, no chance. Absolutely no chance. Oh my god. We have to still go all the way up there. We actually wanted to get to the peak on the first day we arrived here, but the road was completely muddy and it got too dark, so we had to give up. And then yesterday, we couldn't go as well cuz I was befriending the local toilet. So today, finally, the third day, we are going to make it to the top, guys. We are going to get to the top of Kappa Peak and finally complete our mission. That was quite tricky. Oh my god, look at this. Wow. >> Wow. That's stunning up here. Oh my god. >> Nice. We can see Jafame down there. It's not a dirt road here at the top either. They've put these two concrete tracks. >> I really have to practice to ride on them, you know, because I can't go right or left. Like I have to really concentrate that I'm not riding off them. [laughter] >> Yeah. I mean, this is obviously made for a car. On a bike, this is actually pretty tough because you really have to stay on the one little bit of concrete. Bloody hell, >> man. What the f? It's a little bit nerve-wracking, eh? >> And they haven't built any barriers here either. Yeah. Keep the momentum. Keep the momentum. Honestly, this road is not easy. This road is not easy. We made it nearly to the top, guys. We made it nearly to the top. 750 m more. We're nearly there. Oh my god. Woohoo. Woo! I think that's the top. What? Nearly fell over. Woo! That was really close. Oh. Oh, I think I'm here. The majestic Capamotu. Yes, you can do it. It's good. Really good. >> Yay. >> We made it to the top. >> Right. Good job, sweetheart. And look, there is a view. >> Yes. >> There's roving over there. Hello. I think over there we'll get a really good view. >> Roving just said that the top is actually over there. So, I think we have to walk a little bit. >> [sighs] >> We have nearly done it. It was a crazy ride, but we are nearly there. And I can't say it often enough that the weather today is so good. Oh, wow. Look at this. Look at this. It's so stunning up here. So stunning. Here we go. Check that out. We can see Javame down there. But that was a pretty crazy ride up. Like it it started so flat and then suddenly it was like >> up up up. It's crazy. Look down there. You can see camping places where you can like hire a tent on the edge of this hill. That looks a little bit dodgy though. Yeah, I would be really scared because I have to go to the toilet at least three, four times in the night, you know. I imagine you crawl out here and then you miss the path or something and you're down there. You just roll down. So, when did you come here the last time? >> Uh, last year. >> Last year. >> Yeah. >> But you told me the road is really good. >> Uh, it's pretty good. [laughter] >> It was like the craziest road ever. >> But that's why you got to experience the bad road and the good road as well. >> I totally agree. >> Yeah. You guys riding in the Himalayan, you know, if you don't do that off-roading, then it would have been a shame. >> Yeah, right. >> That's true. Yeah. Nagaland has been a test for the Himalayan. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Yes. Don't get me wrong, guys. I do enjoy it. But at the same time, I'm just thinking that I'm going to die every second, you know, [laughter] >> honestly. But I'm getting better. I'm getting better. I didn't drop my bike since we're together and we had the craziest roads. >> Like like Ollie said, she's a natural. >> She's a natural. You're a natural. Actually, we all did really well. I'm really surprised that no one fell over on that last bit because even for me that was really crazy. Like my bike was going all over the place. I'm actually really surprised that we got up here to be honest. >> Yeah, me too. It was a good one. >> It was a good one. >> Yeah, we did it. We did it. >> Full throttle, guys. Full throttle. >> We did it. [laughter] >> Going back. It's going to be another challenge. All right, guys. We have reached the bikes and our mission is not done for today because we have a long road ahead. Let me show you [music] where we're heading today. So, we are here at Kapamodu Peak and today we [music] will be riding back through Nagaland's capital city, Kohima, before heading on to the city of Dimapur on the border of Asam. Yes, we've enjoyed this [music] place. We've enjoyed the views. But now the real journey starts and that means first getting down from this mountain. Roving tells us that actually just over here this is Manipur. So the border of Manipur is basically where we are right now. Oh. Oh look at this bit. Whoa. Rocky. [screaming] I had to go really really fast there. >> But yeah, we do have to be really careful on the way down because you remember what happened in Sikkim. Okay, wait a second. 3 2 1 go. Oh no. Karma Lavy just fell over over there as well. Nobody fell on the way up and then as soon as we all turned around, everyone fell on the way down. So, it really shows you that it's much easier to fall on the way down than on the way up. Anyway, just stay on the inside here because this is the bit where we've got some pretty sheer cliffs. Crazy views though. Amazing. >> Crazy views, man. >> I'm so glad that we could actually make it up to the top. It would have been such a shame to come, you know, 5 hours here and then not be able to get to the top. >> Oh, yeah. 100%. >> Our final mission in Nagaland. Capamodouzu Peak completed. >> I'm just going in the inside here. >> Yeah, stay on the inside now. Definitely stay on the inside and just stay in first gear with your clutch out and uh just let yourself kind of roll down really. >> Yeah. >> And we still have such a long way to go today as well. We're going to try and make it at least try to get to Dimapur, which is the city on the border of Asam. So, stay on the outside nice and wide. >> Yeah. >> Keep the momentum. Don't stall. Keep the clutch in. >> Yeah, I keep the clutch in. Actually, now I got a good technique. When I'm going around the corner, I keep the clutch in. I use my brakes and I release the brakes to go around. And then as soon as I'm around, I will start using my uh throttle to get momentum again, you know. >> Yeah, it's all about that balance between the back brake, the front brake, and the throttle all in one. You can't have too much or too little of each. Otherwise, that's when you fall. Too much front brake, you fall. Too much back brake, you start sliding. Too much throttle, you go off the cliff. >> What are they doing here with these trees? >> Oh, this tree. So, this is how they preserve the tree. They'll just cut it like this and it will grow right back again. >> So they're using these for firewood. >> Yeah. And they're preserving them as well. >> So they cut the tree without killing it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Check this out, guys. So we can see here that they've got a really big old stump which they don't kill. And then what they're doing is they're allowing all of the shoots to come off from the big old stump. And then they're just harvesting the shoots whilst keeping the main tree still alive. for so many decades. >> Yeah. >> So basically they can keep one forest of trees alive >> for for decades and decades. >> Yeah. It will go right back again and they can use it again and again. >> That is so clever. >> Yeah. They just they're just not cutting down the whole tree. All those forest, all those trees, they'll preserve it that way. >> Right. And that's how they can keep their firewood like sustainable. You can see the guys over here. They are currently working on some areas. >> They're planting >> They're planting some new trees. >> Yeah. Some not not trees. They're planting vegetables. >> Yeah. >> Oh, so they plant vegetables like in between. >> Yeah. >> God, these guys are like the definition of sustainable here, aren't they? >> They use this land for many for many purposes. They get the fire from here. They get the vegetables, the food from here. >> That's incredible. >> Yeah. Awesome. Wow. I I love it. I love it. >> Yeah. Look, all of this firewood just growing up there. This whole forest here is the sustainable wood they're growing, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All of this. >> Yeah. Because guys, I was really wondering yesterday when I was walking through the village, where do they get all the firewood from? They had so much firewood. Everybody had so much firewood. All I could see was firewood. >> It's their main source of cooking. It's their main source of heating. I mean, we talked to people and they said even in the summer when you don't need the fire, they will make a small fire just for their soul. >> It's just nice, isn't it? It's just nice to have a fire going in the corner, a kettle boiling on the fire. Oh. All right, that's it. We're out. Goodbye, Shaf. [music] I'm very happy. >> I'm very happy. I'm so glad we decided to come to Capamo in the end. Not just for the peak itself, which was awesome, but even just for the way to get there. I mean, look at this road that we're on now. Heading through this massive area [music] of wilderness through these beautiful hills. I mean, okay, the road definitely is a bit potholey. Is that a word? Okay, the road definitely has quite a lot of potholes, but still very beautiful around. And that's one of the awesome things about motorcycle travel in general. It's not just about each destination that you go to, but [music] you get to experience every single road along the way. And every road is so unique and different. That's pretty much the main reason that we travel by motorcycle. Not just for the places we visit, but [music] every single little winding road along the way. And especially here in India that every single road is so different, every landscape is so unique. Northeast India is so diverse and so beautiful. [music] All right, guys. We are no longer [music] in the countryside. We have made it back to the big city, Kohima. >> Oh, yes. Our mountain adventure is over. >> Yes, we have conquered the mountain Kapamu and returned back to Kohima for I think the third time now. We're coming into the city. >> Yes. And to be honest, I was really afraid of the way back because in my memories it was very muddy, very slippery, very steep, very rocky, very like everything, you know. But hey, I didn't drop my bike. Somebody else did. >> A poor roving. >> And unfortunately, this is as well our last ride with the roving Naga here in Kohima. Our ways will split. We are heading to the border and he is heading home or I don't know where he's heading but >> but not to Dimmapur that's for sure. >> Not to Dimmapore. Yeah. >> Wait, let me get out the way of this truck. Oh my god. >> Yeah, he nearly crushed me. It's just madness here in the city. Thank you so much for everything. So, I really hope that we can beat the estimation today. It's actually just 70 kilometers, but you know, these roads, they can be very slow. Very slow. And also, I'm riding very slow. So, let's see. Hey, let's make it to Divor. >> Wow. Check this out, guys. This is the first two-lane highway we've seen here in Nagaland. And this is a pretty new road as well. Look at this. This is the first time I've been in sixth gear since we arrived in Nagaland. So hopefully the road is going to stay like this and we can have a nice end to our ride today. [music] >> [music] [music] >> It's now 5:00 and we have made it to the outskirts of Dimapur and we're just on the main road coming into the city. Oh, this guy just cut me up. Oh, it's the police. That's all right. I'm going to cut them up. This road's called the AH1 and it's still a double lane road actually, but it's just a double lane road with a lot more traffic on it. >> Dimapur is the biggest city in Nagaland. But I'm a little bit concerned as well because Google map says it will take us 37 minutes for 9.7 kilometers. I mean, there's still some traffic up ahead. >> Oh, there's a car coming on the inside. Just be careful. >> Oh no, >> one of those drivers. >> Okay, he's impatient >> with no number plates. >> Yeah. Oh man, he's just about to pass the police officers. >> Oh no, >> no number plates. Driving like an idiot. One of his brake lights doesn't work. >> Come on, police. Stop him. >> And the mountains are fading into the distance behind us. Dapur is like a proper city. This is a massive city. So, our hotel is supposed to be somewhere up here on the left. >> Ah, here. This one.
