Courthouse, civic students from
Pikeville Independent attended a special
called meeting to get a first-hand look
at how local government works.
>> We are here from Mr. Compton's civics
class
and in class the past couple weeks we've
been learning about the fiscal court and
a couple of us guys decided to come out
and see what it's really all about.
>> Recently we've been learning about the
structure of the government, the three
branches, and
and now we're learning about the local
government.
>> Just because the fiscal court is coming
to an fiscal year is coming to an end
and how important the fiscal court is
for the county.
>> Even though this was just a standard
meeting, they enjoyed being there in
person.
>> It was pretty neat to see seeing Mr. Ray
Jones speak to everybody. It was really
nice to hear.
>> I think it's just a very cool we got to
experience it in person. We've been
watching it on the on the board in
class, but
seeing it in person live, that's a cool
experience.

why it's important to be involved.

government, then you you have a say in
what's going on and all the big choices
