HAS THIS BEEN THE RAVENS BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYMAKER ALL OFFSEASON?! | JA'KOBI LANE UPDATE!

Jacobe Lane, can you chill out for like just two seconds? Please give us somewhat of a break. Every single day in training camp, we got to hear Jacobe Lane, he made another play. Jacobe Lane, he made another big catch. Jacobe Lane, he made another touchdown. LIKE, CHILL OUT, MAN. THANK GOODNESS THAT Ravens ain't got practice today. or we would have still been hearing more about Jacobe Lane mossing somebody, catching over somebody, extending his arms and making yet another play with Lamar Jackson. My goodness. Because all this does is add even more to the hype, to the excitement that we all got for Jacobe L. We cannot wait to see number six out there on that field for the Baltimore Ravens. But can you chill out for just two seconds, please? It's like, man, I'm over here eating breakfast. I Jacobe Lane, he mossed Nate Wiggins. I'm like, oh, okay, good. Jacobe over here HAVING LUNCH. THEN JACOBE LANE, he beat Marlon Humphrey on the depot. It's like, oh my goodness, man. RELAX. THEN I'M HAVING DINNER. JACOBE LANE, he beat TJ Tampa. I'm like, WHO IS HE NOT BEAT? And that's the worst part about it. It's not like he's only going against backup quarterbacks, second and third string DBs. No, he's been doing it against the starters, too. And what stood out to me was somebody pointed out to me, and I didn't even realize it. They were like, "Hold up. Is Jacobe Lane actually maybe the number two receiver?" I said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. Ease yourself there." And they said because all these catches that he's been making, he's been getting them from Lamar Jackson. And I said, "Oh, you we could be on to something with that." Because we hear about TZ Walker, for example, him making plays, but when you hear about TZ Walker making a play, it's from Tyler Huntley. But with Jacobe Lane, like nine times out of ten, they say all the passes are coming from Lamar Jackson. So, he could really be getting some significant playing time this season. And another thing to add to all of that, this man was and is and forever will be Jesse Mentor's very first pick at wide receiver. This is the very first receiver that this new head coach took a shot on. So, he is going to want to make sure this thing works. He is going to do everything in his power and Declan Doyles, of course, too, to make sure that Jacobe Lane does his thing. But guess what? It didn't stop there. Well, you know what? I'll let him tell you. That's where I got my Instagram name from, Kang Gar Mike. So, uh, that that dude is the the goat in my eyes. And I think, uh, being able to be compared by him is is is a nothing but a blessing, but at the same time, I haven't done half the the stuff he's done in the NFL. So, just trying to realize that and do it in my own way and just grow every day. >> So, being compared to Michael Thomas and you know, like Michael Thomas, that man caught everything thrown his way. I mean, he had like 350 targets every season, but he caught everything thrown his way. So, if Jacobe Lane is being compared to, man, don't don't y'all get I can't even say don't y'all get us started cuz y'all done already got us started because Jacobe Lane won't stop. But he got the endorsement from Michael Thomas where he said you on your way. I promise you one day at a time is evident. And shout out to Michael Thomas for acknowledging Jacobe Lane because this actually was not the first time that Michael Thomas gave Jacobe Lane his flowers because him and a couple of other pretty good NFL receivers. They spoke about Jacobe Lane. Michael Thomas said this days before that he said if bros say you can't guard him, you can't guard him. Do your research. It's a mentality. And that's so much of football. That's 80% of football. It's 80% mental and the other 20% that's the physical part. But it has to be up here before you even step on. It has to be up here cuz if it's not then you're done. But also it didn't stop there because there's Bryant. I would say he was pretty good when he played right. It wasn't the best for the Ravens. But we'll scratch that out. But when he was with the Cowboys, oh yeah, there's Bryant. He was like that. He said the following about Jacobe Lane. If I tell you a player is legit, he's legit. And yes, I truly believe I scout players better than a lot of people. First round talent. And you know, like Dez Bryant said this about a weekend change ago, but he's been on the Jacobe Lane train from jump. Literally from jump. He's been talking about Jacobe Lane. He's been tweeting about Jacobe Lane for months now. So, this is nothing new from him. And then one more receiver who we're pretty familiar with, I'd say, especially as Ravens fans from his time with the Bengals, and that's Oo Senko. And he just let it be known that he got eyes on Jacobe Lane, as we all do. So to be getting these endorsements from not just fans, not just former NFL, but former NFL players that were really, really like that, that says a whole lot in my eyes about Jacobe Lane. But back to that comparison with Michael Thomas, let's hear what Declan Doyle had to say in regards to it. He's a very different player than um like the the guy that I was around that his hands remind me of is is like Mike Thomas. Mike Thomas had these strong hands where he could pull it down and away and you threw in the vicinity and you felt like he was going to go get it. Um there there's a lot of that feeling. He's a very friendly guy to throw to and that's exactly what it sounds like has been happening. Declan Doyle said what Mike Thomas if you just threw in the vicinity of him then it felt like he was going to come down with it. And from everything we keep hearing continuously every single day of training camp when it comes to Jacobe Lane, it sounds like that's happening. But probably what was my favorite report, my favorite update on Jacobe Lane? It came from Karita Parks last week where she said the following. She said, "Lamar is clearly starting to trust Jacobe Lane because he's getting a lot of burn and camp." And her statement was so simple, but it was so powerful at the same time because the word that I took from it was trust. Jacobe Lane is a rookie. This is his first year in the league. Lamar Jackson is going into year nine. And with Lamar Jackson, we keep hearing all these reports about how he's taking yet another step as a leader. Really talking to his players, speaking with Jacobe. Like there was a report yesterday that Jacobe Lane, he made yet another play. Yeah. What's new? But then Lamar Jackson sat down and took a knee with him and was really talking to him about it. And they were talking for a while. He said the same thing was happening with Rashad Baitman. Uh that Lamar he's chewing guys out for false thoughts like all like he's taking yet another step as a leader and and that's such a beautiful thing to see and to hear about. But if he's having trust with Jacobe Lane, then that bodess well for us as Ravens fans. That bodess well for the team and the personnel, the coaching staff because that presents yet another opportunity for this Ravens offense, but yet another problem for NFL defenses. If they can get this thing right, and if they can get off to such a great start, a hot start, and get Jacobe Lane going early like we talked about, it is here. It's here. That'll bode so well for his mental. And then if it's bolding well for his mental, then it'll translate to on the field to where we can watch him and Lamar Jackson make play after play after play. BUT IT IS NICE TO GET JUST A LITTLE BREAK from Jacobe Lane just beating somebody else in practice. But how are y'all feeling about Jacobe Lane? Do you think he's going to live up TO ALL THIS HYPE THAT HE CUZ THIS is this the most hype that a Ravens rookie receiver done got in a long time? I I really think so. I I really do believe so. Because even when when Zay Flowers came out in 2023, everybody was like excited for him. But the the hype like this, no, it it wasn't like this. When Hollywood, we drafted him in 2019. Oh, we was excited for the speed, but all this hype that like in all these endorsements from all these players and stuff, it wasn't like this. EVEN WITH OUR GUY RASHAD PAYMAN, you know, that was our guy. But even it just it was not like this. And for Rashad Baitman, we know that that route running was smooth. It was crispy. I know I had a lot of hype on my end, but again, as far as from around the NFL world, we as Ravens fans, I don't think we done seen nothing like this before when it comes to a wide receiver. But do y'all think he's going to live up to it or do y'all think we're going to BE DISAPPOINTED? LET ME KNOW. [screaming] LET US know in the comments section. I love you. I really think we got a lot of gems out of this year's draft. Zion is a beast and Jacobe looks like he could be something special. Coincidence? He brought up Jacobe. Yeah, no coincidence. because again that's all we've been hearing about everything. Anyway, he said when I watch him I see pieces of guys like Michael Thomas and Randy Moss and I'm excited to see what he develops into this offense. That boy say Michael but then he took it to the person who I think was the best receiver to ever do it. Randy Moss. That's who I think was the best. I know Jerry Rice, he got the numbers, but this is just my opinion. It's always been my opinion. Randy Moss the best. I know we got Calvin Johnson like that's if somebody going to say Calvin Johnson I I ain't going to argue with you. But Randy Moss that was my guy because he no matter what was going on. No, you could just throw it up. Randy Moss. Okay. And that's where the term mossing people came from. Came from Randy Moss. Came from him. Like so. And then what ended up happening? Santana Moss was nice. I like Santana Moss a lot. But anybody else who had the last name Moss, it's like, woo, you got some high expectations. High expectations. This annoys Moss came out, too. Uh, but anyway, let's get back to it because we could talk about Randy Moss forever. All it says, and we already know what Z Flowers can do. We sure do. And now we going to get to see him even more. Got to get healthy. But that's why, hey, bubble wrap the rest or let him chill. But he he going to be straight. Said, plus I believe I still believe we got to steal with his contract locked in for a while. That's true. He said, now we just need to make sure Lamar's locked in, too. Yeah, got to get that contract. But we'll see when it see when we see. He said, "When you look at this offense, our receiving weapons could be crazy. Zay Flowers, Jacobe Lane, TZ Walker, Rashad Baitman, and Mr. Waffle House, Elijah Serat as a receiver with Mark Andrews, Hner, and Quaver at tight end. I still wish we could have found a way to add Stefon Diggs, but I think we going to be all right." He said, "That brings to somebody else uh I'd love to hear your thoughts on Keenan Allen." Oh. Uh-oh. It's receiver talk. Veteran receiver talk. It's a touchy subject for Ravens Fair, especially right now. Let's see what he had to say. He said even at this stage of his career, that man can still get open. In 2025, he put up 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games. And for his career, he's sitting at 1,55 receptions, one 12,051 receiving yards, and 70 touchdowns. That's a lot of production and experience. It is. He's just one phone call away. He said, "I know he's not the youngest supposed receiver he once was, but I think his route running his hands and ability to work underneath and veteran presence could be a valuable for Lamar in this young receiver room. Imagine needing a first down on third and seven and having Keenan Allen work in the middle with Zay and Jacobe creating problems elsewhere. How would you feel about the Ravens adding Keenan Allen, do you think he would be a good veteran piece for this offense or would you rather roll with the young guys we already have?" [snorts] There goes that tricky question again. Oh, it's tough. It's tough cuz the injury to Z Flower just gave us a reminder that [snorts] all right even though um I think it was was it the playoffs with Bait cuz Bait there has been time it's been very few times cuz Z ain't been out very much but where Bait has had to step up um and when his numbers been called more then he's he's stepped up to the number to to the plate I mean um but yeah I [sighs] It's it's tricky because again we we keep hearing about Jacobe Lane every single day. Every single day. We obviously want that to translate to preseason and then regular season and playoffs and Super Bowl and all that. Um then we got Zay Flowers. We already know about Zay. We know about Bait. TZ Walker. He could be coming up too. And even with Bait, like we we hope that he has a bounceback year. Um, a Keenan Allen. I think Keenan Allen the people who he could potentially impact the most uh would be Elijah Serat. Uh, but everybody under him too. Like Elijah Serat uh maybe a little bit of Jacobe Lane maybe, but it seemed like Jacobe Lane like really his spot is looking like his spot. Um, [snorts] but he could impact Elijah Serat, uh, Chris Moore, um, Lejante Wester. Um, so those three. um then you got a lot of receivers. So that's like who's going to make the roster. That would be um that would be like a a log jam at receiver and it ain't going to be all them guys catching passes all the time and anything like that. Um but it's like if you have a Z Flowers and a Rashad Baitman and it's looking like Jacobe Lane gonna be getting a lot of playing time. That's what it sound that's what it seems like. >> [snorts] >> Um, I wouldn't mind. I I honestly wouldn't mind just to have him there. Uh, just to know that he's there if we need him. Um, but it's tricky. So maybe I don't if if he makes it through the preseason. What I would do I would actually uh but they would had to cut somebody though cuz what I was going to say is if they brought him on now like if they signed him now um and then just had him around for training camp and stuff and then if he got cut then they signed him to the practice squad. So just to have him around he'd be familiar and whatnot with the team and whatnot. But then the Colts will probably end up signing him though. they'll probably end up signing him, be like, "Oh, yeah. We're gonna sign him because we want to see intel on the Ravens for week one because it's a new offense. So, we want to get as much information on that new offense as we can." So, that they'll probably end up signing him and then releasing him after the game. Uh, but so something like that. So, right now, man, this this this Jac the the Jacobe Lane hype is what's messing with me the most, man. It's what's messing with me the most because I'm like, look, Zay, we good with Zay. say that's our guy with bait. We hoping again with this new offense that they can really get the most out of bait and with Jacobe Lane like oh that guy he gonna be something. So it's like those are top three receivers. So when it comes to the top three like those are the guys who going to be out there the then Lamar already got a connection with TZ Walker too. So that's your top four. So after that it's like the the the next guys are not going to be out on the field like that. So it's like if you add a veteran receiver it'd be nice to have it's always nice to have. So again, and somebody who's been against NFL quarterbacks and whatnot, be NFL corner, but at the same time with an Elijah Serat, how is he going to learn how to beat NFL corners if he ain't never going against NFL corners? So, and I know they got practice and whatnot. I know they got the the the joint practices coming up, too. Ooh, that's that's going to tell us a lot about Jacobe Lane, too, because we got the preseason game coming up on Saturday, but we also got the joint practices coming up. Cuz it's one thing to go against your boys and do it. Go against your own teammates, but then going against somebody else who trying to feed their family too. Somebody else who trying to get their roster spot too. Oo [laughter] boy. Hey. So yeah, that's that's where it's tricky for me with Kenan Allen. That's where it's very very tricky. Um, so if if they added him, I wouldn't be mad, but like how much would he really be used? That would be my bigger question. Uh, he said, "As always, thank you for everything you do for the flock. I've been rocking with the channel for a while now and appreciate all the Ravens content." And he said, "Flock Nation." Hey, appreciate you, Nick. And what a great perfect way to get us started. Praying for a great defense. Next question came from my guy Bobby. We flipping it to the other side of the ball. He said, "Last weekend, I was watching a lot of last season Ravens games, and our pass rush was so hard to watch." Oh, Bobby, you ain't lying. It was It It would be hard to watch in a replay. I told y'all this before, I used to always, and it was more so before we started covering the Ravens on YouTube, but I used to always watch like highlights of previous Ravens season. I used to always watch it, always. But I stopped doing that. Um, but certainly like from last year, especially watching that defense. Oof. I might if I saw that I might throw away my phone. If I was watch I might throw the phone in the trash cuz that's not what last year's defense was. I can't call them trash, but it was rough. They were rough, [sighs] man. It was tough, man. Anyway, he said we were getting little to no pressure at the QB. There was even a time where the snap started. Two seconds later, I dropped my phone, went to grab it, looked up, and we still wasn't near wasn't near the quarterback. I hope this defense can get turned around, and we can get back to that scary defense the NFL once feared. Oh, Bobby, we all hope that that ends up happening, too. And I I think we will. Um, just based off of the scheme alone, but even with the players that we add, especially somebody like a Trey Hendrickson. Next question came from my guy Cameron. He said, "Yo, Wing Graven, been a minute, brother. How you been?" Hey, we've been busy, man. But we've been all right. I I appreciate you. Hope you've been doing even better, my friend. Appreciate you coming through. He said, "But my question for you is, do you think Jacobe?" See, I don't be reading these ahead of time, man. I don't. But that's all we hear every single day. Jacobe Lane this, Jacobe Lane that. That's it. He said, "My question for you is, do you think Jacobe Lane is on our starting lineup as a wide receiver three surpassing TZ Walker?" Yes, I do. I I do. He said, "And also, do you think Lamar will get paid even after the Z Flowers extension?" And I saw that we w Yeah. Yeah. He Yeah. Like, oh, for sure. Whether it's from the Ravens or from somebody else, Lamar will get paid. He said, "I saw that we uh he walked off with a quad injury, so it's kind of scary. I'm not going to get in a full panic, but it's definitely one of my concerns. Hope you and the family are doing aok." Okay. Hey, I appreciate you, my friend. Much love to you. Thank you, man. Now, this next question, I did see the topic in the email screen. I said, "You know what? Let's end it off with this. This came from my guy Noah said Jacobe Lane's development. He said, "What's up, Raven? Hope you're doing well. Five more weeks until football." We so close, man. It's crazy that we this close. Like we about to get we about to see the Ravens for the first time on this coming Saturday and then we're going to be like a month away from their first regular season. We were right literally right there. Right there. It's so crazy that we made it through this whole offseason, man. this this offseason it didn't fly by but it went at a moderate pace it did anyway he said so I really want Jacob Lane to succeed and be our next homegrown star wide receiver like Z Flowers but I don't see him being crazy good his first season obviously he needs to develop and ease into his role so do you think the Ravens are going are doing a good job of setting him up for development by not signing another wide receiver veteran that's such a great question and that's I think that's a lot of everything that we just talked about uh like two questions ago wow that's a great question But yes, because with them not signing a veteran wide receiver, then they're like, "Hey, Jacobe, go get it. Go make it happen. Go get your opportunity. Go do your thing." And that's exactly what he's been doing. That's a great question, man. He said on one hand, he will definitely get into the rotation this year and have a chance to prove himself. On the other hand, he doesn't have a great wide receiver to learn from besides Z Flowers, who had Odell Beckham Jr. and DeHop to help him. I'd say Zay was already established before DeAndre Hopkins, though. I get what you're saying, but Zay Zay was already doing his thing before DeAndre Hopkins even stepped foot with the Ravens. Um, now, [clears throat] uh, now Zay can help teach Jacobe Lane some stuff, too. They're completely different receivers, though. But Zade done made it. He first round draft pick. So, I think he's pretty good to be to become a first- round draft pick in the first place than to get picked and to now be on his second contract and be uh close to the top of the market. Yeah, I'd say he could definitely teach Jacobe Lane some things for sure. Again, different type of receiver, different type of game that they got, but they could help each other out either some some way somehow. So, um we don't have the veteran presence like that. Rashad Baitman too. They could help him out too. Like these guys uh they could teach you some things on what to do. They could also teach you some things on what not to do. So it they they could definitely help him out. I see what you're saying. But yeah, I I think it's a mix of Z Flowers and Rashad Baitman just taking Jacobe Lane under their wing. Um, but also, yeah, not signing a veteran receiver because that obviously gives Jacobe Lane even more opportunity to play, even more opportunity to get out there and and do his thing. That's such a great question, though, man. Uh, and he said, uh, do you think we can make do with our wide receiver room this year to reach the Super Bowl? I think they can. I think they can, in my opinion, because we've already seen some receiver rooms. Um, we've seen some receiver rooms to where, well, a lot of receiver rooms to where it's like, oh, do we got the best receivers in the AFC North? No. I mean, you going against Jamar Chasing T. That's pretty tough. Um, do we got the best receivers in the AFC as a whole? No. But, um, but Lamar has done his thing. Now, that's why I I still say and still to this day I to get Lamar a receiver like who's like like that and hopefully Jacobe Lane is but um that's why I was never opposed to still obtaining a receiver who was really like that for Lamar because we've seen what he's done with receivers who are maybe not like that. Not the elite of the elite. We've seen him with some some good rece but with the elite of the elite we haven't seen him with that yet. Um, so I expect Z Flowers to take another jump this year and continue just being really, really, really good to great actually. Um, but that's why I was never opposed to it because so many people say, "Oh yeah, yeah, Lamar Lamar get it done with anybody at receiver." Yeah. But what So if you've seen him get it done with anybody at receiver, why not give him the best? Why not go out and make something like really really good happen for Lamar at receiver? So it could be like if you seen him get it done with I don't want to say anybody receive cuz he's still NFL players but if you go out and get in the best imagine what he could do with that. So that's always been my argument. It's still going to be it's never going to stop being my argument whenever people say that cuz I think that's just so backwards thinking in my opinion. Oh yeah, Lamar, he's he can do it with anybody. He can, but that's that's what I say. So why not? Why not? But anyway, anyway, it's a lot of conversation with that, but yeah, I I do think they can get it done. I I think the bigger um issue over the past couple of years has been the defense. The defense uh letting them down and then then just players just failing in clutch moments, too. Um so it's been a big thing with the mentality uh with the scheme. Um, but now again, new era and hopefully new ways. [music] The flock flies to the [singing] wise. It's a wonderful thing. Look what vision and commitment [music] is. Discipline brings.
