Guest House 031 Massive Progress Update

Oh my god. It's It's >> [laughter] >> It's the sun. The sun is back. What are you doing, you silly rabbit? You want to go get some treats? Let's go get some treats. Aw, well, I had a couple hours of sun before this rain started again. Still bright out. And uh right now I'm working on this here poop container. You know, the septic thing for the house. For the For the poop goes in. So, it's been raining a lot the last week. I mean, it rained pretty much constantly the last week. Uh actually, it's rained a lot in the last year. Some El Niño situation or whatever. I don't know. Anyway, sun came out this morning. I got a bit of work done on that water tank there. And I'm working on some other stuff. But, let me let me just show you the things I've kind of gotten finished since my last camera broke and before I got this one. So, my house has a door. The rest of the house looks basically the same on the outside. But, uh yeah, this is just a sheet of metal cuz I don't know. I don't know. I wanted that to be the door. And I made a nice, you know, my nice door jam here. That's also aluminum aluminum. So, this is aluminum aluminum, too. Stainless. What are these things called? Hinges? Riveted in. So, you know, nothing will rust in here. Everything's stainless steel or aluminum aluminum. Anyway, on the inside here, ooh, let's switch to wide area lens. Hold on. Hold Wait, can I switch wide area lens while I'm recording? Whoa. Okay. So, in here, I've obviously got some wood. Uh this is floorboards for the second floor. And uh it It hard to get it in here between the constant raining >> [snorts] >> and now I'm trying to dry it out and then lighting little fires on there and stuff now and then. You know, leaving the windows open. Anyway, I've also got stairs. They're pretty steep stairs. Like submarine stairs. Maybe not quite as steep as submarine stairs, but I've also got the whole second floor joisted. Let's go up for a second. Oh, isn't that nice? Oh, yeah. Oh, look at that. So good. And I have not spackled up here yet, but I have you know, I have spackled up to there. So once I get this floor in, you know, I'll lay some lay some tarps on it and then spackle all that. Hopefully, I don't know. I might get impatient and just like No, I have to spackle it. I have to spackle it before before we all move in and everything. Um yeah, I got my scaffolding out of the way. Now the Oh, yeah, I got I got everything spackled down here. I think I didn't show that before. I didn't have that in my last video, did I? Yeah, the whole first floor is spackled. Look at that. Ooh, and look at this doorway to get into the bathroom. Oh, looking so nice. Good stuff. And in here Here's the Here's the water tank. So in case anyone missed it, this is the water tank. I'm currently draining it cuz it's, you know, filled up and overflowing constantly with all this rain. But the water tank it, you know, slowly leaks. Just just water soaking through the concrete. Like not even to where you can feel it wet or anything, but I mean, you can tell it's moist here compared to there. Like here it's dry and here it's wet. So it just like slowly seeps out and goes on the floor. So I have some some waterproof stuff. Uh so I'm draining tank right now with a siphon. Yeah, just a tube going in there, coming into the floor drain. Yep, still going. Now, that'll drain it down to the ground level, but I'm going to have to drain it like the extra meter all the way down cuz I want to waterproof the whole thing. I'll have to figure that out later though. Uh, tub's looking great. The tub keeps getting filled up by the overflow every time it rains, but it's just going out the drain. And then over here, I've got the turlet, otherwise known as the turdlet. Um, it's just I just I I didn't buy one. I was like, "What what kind of toilet would be the most amazing toilet in the universe?" And I thought, "Oh, it's got to have like little steps here, and you got to be able to get up on here." Cuz like dude, to be honest, I do not want to sit on a toilet. I've not I've not enjoyed sitting on a toilet for quite some time. I want to do the squat poop, man, like our caveman ancestors did. Like humans evolved to squat poop and not to sit on a thing. So, just biologically speaking, it's better to squat than it is to to sit. You can look up all kinds of studies and videos on that if you want, but I'm not going to go into it. But in addition, like if you put your feet up here and you squat, then you don't have to like put your bum where someone else's bum has been. And this is just a basically a Oh, yeah. No one's used it yet. I can touch it. >> [laughter] >> But this is just a stainless steel sheet like formed into a cone. Yeah, it's pretty easy to make. And then, you know, squish so it's not circular. And then the tube is just a PVC tube that goes down, comes back up, and then goes down and out. And that will connect to that water tank that not the water tank, the poop tank that's outside. I'll show you that in a minute. But, I mean that's that's basically what a toilet is. It's just a bowl in the top and then a tube that goes joo joo joo joo. Oh, and to flush this one, you you manually pour water in. Although, I think I'm going to do some other fanciness up here where there's like a thing you fill up up here and then it slowly like runs water down so that you know, you don't get like >> [sighs] >> like elves drawing with brown crayons in your toilet all the time and stuff. Anyway, we'll get into that later or maybe we won't. >> [laughter] >> Anyway, uh that the drain for that is right here. Nice huge drain. Big 3-in pipe. And that is going to go into this doopy tank which is It'll basically hold the poop long enough for it to decompose. You know, standard septic system thing. And then instead of going into a septic field, it's going to drain into this like plantain swamp. There's like a big hole down there. And I've been throwing compost stuff and whatever in there for ages. And that's just stuff just feeds the the plantain trees. Yeah, got plantains right there. And they weren't doing great cuz it was all overgrown, but now they should start coming back. And if I get all that, you know, fertilizer after it's decomposed in, you know, the poop tank, the fertilizer will go down there and that will feed the the banana trees like crazy. And I'll probably have tons of them going in. Um this is the drain for the sink and for the floor and for the bathtub, which isn't going to have poop in it or anything. It's mostly just water, so I'm thinking I might just leave it like that. Um and it can just water the grass or whatever cuz there's there's basically nothing in it. I mean, you know, bits of dirt and whatever when you wash your hands, but it is Yeah, it does it doesn't need to go through the septic system, so I decided to do them separately. The you know, the toilet one needs some serious stuff and the the sink Yeah, it doesn't need anything special. Hey little kid, what else have we done in the last month since my camera died? We got the joists up. >> Yeah, we got the joists up. Did the bathroom. >> The bathroom is pretty good, yeah. Yeah, I already showed that. And we got some nice stairs there. >> Yeah. There's no latch on the door, but honestly, we could move in without a latch on the door. I'll I'll put it in whenever. Right now, I just lock it with a stick on the other side. It is fine. Um but yeah, we got to paint in here cuz we want to want it to look all pretty and nice, but other than that, there's there's really not that much to do other than, you know, >> Make a mess. >> boards dried enough that I can take them over to the lumber mill. Here, we can zoom in. Yeah, take them over to the lumber mill. I don't know if I'm going to need to cut them with the saw. I might trim the sides, but the planer that is going to have a lot of work cuz, you know, these are not not even thicknesses at all. It's just chainsaw cut.
