Church, what do you think led to your success at the plate today? >> Um Yeah, uh just focus on uh having a plan. Uh going in there with an approach and then um just trying to get something hard in the zone, put a good swing on it, not trying to do too much. Just kind of same plan as always. >> What do you think of that first inning in general, the way you guys were patient at the plate and really selective? >> Yeah, it was great. Um from the start, like it was just good at bats all around. Uh we went in there and you know, it was obviously a good pitcher on the mound, veteran guy with experience, and and we made him work and um yeah, it was big to to get on the board there early. >> Were you sitting breaking ball on the home run? >> I wasn't. Just saw pop. Even if I was, I don't know if I would tell you, but no, I wasn't. >> What did you think of Gerrit tonight? >> Uh it's great. Uh it's kind of he's Scarecrow for a reason, like it's always fun to watch. Uh he just commands his zone and and controls his zone, so um yeah, it's it's always fun to play behind him. >> How have you been feeling at the plate with that game within the game and the back and forth with the pitchers? >> Um it's what I love. Uh like it's that's you know, the those little things in baseball that that you know, sometimes you don't uh can go unnoticed, but yeah, like the game within the game and um the game planning, the preparation, the you know, those little game within the game type of things. >> Uh Gerrit won a Cy Young in 2023 when you graduated from high school. What's it like for you to to play behind him? >> It's awesome. Uh yeah, I've watched him dominate on the mound for, you know, as as long as I can remember, so um yeah, it's it's it's really cool being on the same field as him.
