Video summary

The Sunday morning 40-meter post-news net hosted by Troy G7LHK at the Lemur Hotel in Deal brought together listeners across the United Kingdom and beyond to share reports on signal quality, weather conditions, and personal updates. Participants described a mixed but generally favorable atmosphere, with many reporting excellent propagation despite varying local climates; Adrian from Nottingham noted sunshine after an overcast start, while Barry in London enjoyed clear skies following his morning coffee. In contrast, Jeff in Hernay faced gloomy, wet conditions at 7°C, highlighting the difficulties of digital voice operations on a noisy band compared to quieter frequencies like 80 or 60 meters. Similarly, Moira from Northern Ireland dealt with heavy rain and flooding risks just hours before, having drained her water valves to prevent frozen pipes, though she managed to receive signals ranging from five-nine plus some spatter under blue skies at six degrees Celsius. Technical discussions throughout the broadcast covered amplifier management, antenna setups, and interference mitigation strategies employed by various operators. Several stations ran full kilowatt power on solid-state amplifiers that required cooling breaks or backing off due to heat limitations during continuous transmission, while others utilized notch filters to manage continental spatter effectively. Simon from Bristol operated under one kilowatt after losing his preferred SP220 amplifier capable of high-power continuous operation, and David in Wales successfully managed background interference using similar filtering techniques. Antenna enthusiasts shared their configurations, with Makita discussing the use of a UK Antennas NFD-7 setup, while Simon from Yorkshire mentioned upcoming repairs for an FC991A antenna that had lost vinyls on VHS tape recordings. The host also acknowledged feedback regarding spreadsheet scrolling issues affecting listener list orders and confirmed that transmission quality remained robust despite occasional atmospheric fading or QRM attributed to continental stations rather than equipment failure. The program featured several personal milestones and community updates, including John from Mansfield celebrating his 85th birthday with plans for an eye injection to aid in reading the news script amidst blocked drains caused by recent heavy rain. Troy shared family history regarding Aston Villa football club during a conversation about local team support before Ollie briefly joined to offer birthday wishes before departing due to arriving grandchildren. The net also included heartfelt updates on Bob, who was recovering from double pneumonia after a month-long hospital stay and unable to call in as hoped; the host expressed regret over not being able to visit him personally but sent best wishes for his upcoming match against Leeds. Additionally, Eric from Doncaster reflected on changes in G2 procedures since his presidency around 2002 that reduced his current involvement, while Gunther reminded listeners of proper etiquette by asking others to listen before transmitting despite experiencing significant interference himself. As the broadcast concluded, Troy thanked shortwave listeners and RF guards for their participation, noting that some regional news items were omitted due to coverage limitations in specific areas. He confirmed that this session marked the first time he recorded the post-news net from Royal Leamington Spa without including the preceding pre-net segment, setting a precedent for future recordings with Becky's assistance. Looking ahead, Adrian of Chesterfield prepared to join a trial broadcast on two meters at 145.525 MHz around noon, cautioning about potential continental interference that might affect his ability to notch out noise before reading times. Meanwhile, Kevin had already departed the frequency, leaving Simon and Mike Nex active for another hour or so before they too planned to switch bands, ensuring a smooth transition as listeners tuned in to hear future segments of this evolving community network.

[music] GBRS has now closed down and this is G 7 L Lemur Hotel Kilo. So a very good morning everybody. I hope you heard the broadcast. Okay, and we didn't get any interference or anything. So we will go to the top of the list this morning. Uh, and that would be Adrian in Nottingham. And that's Gold Zero, Tango, Golf Delta. Good morning, Adrian. >> Oh, good, uh, good morning, Troy. Didn't expect to be at the top of the list. Thought I was at number 10, but never mind. Um, thank you for reading the news. Um, very good signal. Uh, we, uh, we heard full copy all the way through and, um, little bit of QSC, but nothing uh, nothing problematic. Uh when we spoke to Simon earlier this morning, we had um very overcast sky to chill and drizzle. It it was a very miserable morning, but we now have some sunshine, so I'm sure that's that's come over from the west. Anyway, take 73 and we'll catch you further down from Golf Zero can go golf delta. My bad, Adrian. I do apologize. It's my fault the spreadsheet was further down the uh the page than I thought it should be. Yeah. Uh I saw number one and it's number 10. So you've jumped the queue but never mind. But yeah, very good morning to you Adrian and uh in the Nottingham area, you should be able to hear the broadcast on uh on 145525. So if you are around uh or listening if you're out and about uh do send me a uh a signal report so that we can feed that back to headquarters. But uh very good morning to a to you a tango golf delta. We will go to the top of this now. So apologies everybody. It's it's my fault not everyone else. Oh, excuse me. Right. Uh we will go to number one now. Golf 6 Juliet Mike X-ray. Good morning Barry in London there. Good morning Julia Xray returning. Yeah fine Troy 5. Good signal after coffee as usual and good wind for everybody else and on the vacancy and uh yeah good signal all the way around. Um weather here is uh is the sun and coming out I will try and listen out for you on um on 2 m back to you. >> Yeah no problem at all there though Barry. Well good to hear you this morning and uh you good standing field this morning. So, thank you for calling in and uh we will catch you next week. Um John should be reading next week. I don't know where he was this morning. Uh maybe he's got other things on. Uh he didn't say that he wouldn't be around today, but uh uh he's uh I know he's got his son to cope with as well. So maybe he's uh he's doing other things this morning. that he will be reading next week and then the following two weeks it will be in herself because John's away on the 7th. Uh, so you got a week's grace and then uh uh it's back to my daughter turns there Barry uh Juliet sorry golf six Juliet Mike X-ray from Gold 7 Rema Hotel Ka all the way Barry 73 for now 73 catch further down my friend right let's get Paul in good morning again Paul how you doing Mike 7 delta Julia Just before you come on though, would you call any David. >> Yeah, no problem at all there, Paul. Well, you're doing fine. No problem now. Anyway, um let's just look at my ALC meter. That's down a little bit, actually. 1 2 3 4 5. There we go. That's uh that's a little bit louder. Uh and we are uh we are running the kill lot now. So uh yeah you're you're still five and nine with me Paul. No problem whatsoever mate but um any improvement a good time isn't it? All the best my friend we'll catch you next Sunday. Mike 7 Fox Delta Julia from G 7. All the best. >> Yeah. By the way I'm running barefoot here. >> Okay. 73. Uh, right. Mike 5 Golf Tango Alpha Jeff in Hernay, land of the icons. >> G7 LHK and five GTA returning. Yeah, you was a solid 20 over radio 5 all the way through that. Didn't get any interruptions at all. Hope you're doing okay. The weather down here is pretty gloomy and wet at the moment, but um hopefully it will bright out a bit this afternoon. Over. >> Yeah, well, it's not too bad up here at the moment, Jeff. To be fair, it's 7°. It is sunny out there, but it is still a little bit misty for my liking. So, I will be putting my coat on if I have to go out later, which I'm looking at the bubble, which is almost empty. So, I have to go and get some more of that. Uh, I forgot to pick some up from the supermarket yesterday pop up there before they shut at 4 and uh chop myself up for the rest of the evening. All the best, Jeff. We'll catch you next Sunday, my friend. and 59 push down into field five golf from golf 7 hotel for the final. Yeah, I've been looking at um the free DV as well. I heard you speaking about it a couple of weeks ago. So I've got it installed. I just need to get it out. I'm quite interested in that Sierra performs on 40, but we'll have a chat about that another time, mate. Anyway, take care. 73. >> Yeah, no problem. I think 40 might be a a band that I Well, I was interested in doing the broadcast on 40, but I think I'm going to have to look elsewhere because 40 is just um very very noisy in the afternoon. Um it would have to be sort of a midday uh stroke early afternoon broadcast. I don't think uh free TV or digital voice uh will actually work too well on the 40 m band which is why I think um uh the majority of the guys that are using 3D uh have opted to to go to either 80 or um the 60 m band uh you know which is a lot quieter obviously but the the the downfall for me would be the fact that it's only four license holders on the 60 m band that could call him you know so I am reducing the footall there but yeah we'll have a chat about that further down there Joe all the very best to you my friend Mike 5 Golf Tang from Golf 7 being the hotel 73 for now 73 okay we go to Ian in Durham Mike sorry golf 7 Italy Golf November good morning Ian Golf 7 Italy Golf November thanks very much Troy yeah getting you really very Well actually 9 and and 9 + 10 5 and 9 + 10. Uh so it's quite good. I agree with you completely about the uh uh the amount of u uh uh interference there is. Uh and also you were fading quite a bit there as well which is probably not down to you at all but down to the the conditions at the time. Back to you for the moment. No problem at all there. Yeah, I can hear the I can hear the Continentals coming in uh which is uh you know normal for this time of the year on the 14 bands and I I am aware that there are contests going on but fortunately the RF gods have played ball with us this morning and they've left us till so far. All the very best my friend. Thank you for calling in this week and I hope to catch you next Sunday when John Golf 6 alpha sier kilo is reading 73 from G 7 hotel kilo. >> Thanks very much for me 73 and all the very best let's go to in Northern Ireland. A very good morning Moira Mike 7 Romeo Papa go ahead Moira golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo. Good morning, Troy. Um, think I've just got my brain in order with my uh speaking voice, but anyway, um, your signal report this morning is 5 and 9 speaking five. Um, bit of spatter from nearby stations and QSB, we bit of QRM, but thank you for the news. Everything was copied with absolutely no problem at all. And I have to say despite the forecast of rain, it's blue sky at the moment, but only feeling about 6°, but feeling much much cooler than that. Back to you. >> Yeah. And there. Well, we've got similar sort of weather. Um I think we are expecting some further rain uh down the down the line in the next sale. So, it did absolutely hammer it there last night and the night before. Uh well the early hours of um yesterday morning it was absolutely pounding down on the window. It actually woke me up uh which is unusual. I mean when I'm asleep I'm asleep. Uh you'd have to have a bomb going off to wake me up. Uh but the rain did wake me up yesterday morning. Uh but it did rain fairly heavily last night. We formed a puddle outside in the back area where I go out and have a cigarette. Um, so I have to watch where I'm threading cuz I shoot down the right in the puddle if I'm not careful. But yeah, about 7°. It is sunny here at the Late, but great to hear you again. You're five and nine into Senfield. >> Sorry for 5 and N. Yes, here all night. I've got three water valves, so I've actually had to um open them up and pop the hose and push them down to the drain. Otherwise, I'm going to have when it gets icy, I'm going to have a very solid block of ice. But yes, it was very noisy, but thank you for the news and good morning and best wishes to everybody on frequency 73. >> 73, you take care and we'll catch you next Sunday for the pre-news mat with John there. All the very best to you. Right, let's go to Canovvin in Wales. David might whiskey 8 x-ray Juliet Quebec. Good morning, David. Come on in. Thank you. Good morning, Charlie. All the way through towards the Spanish station in the middle, but didn't back to you. >> Yeah, I can hear the Continentals in the background there. uh David to be fair. I have tried and notched them out which sort of works. So uh they are encroaching on us a little bit but we'll persevere. I'm running uh well I am running the full kilowatt now. I don't during the broadcast I keep that down to about 700 just for the simple reason it's solid state amp and when you're transmitting for a long period of time it does get very warm. It's not as forgiving as a valve amp is uh but uh now that we're not talking constantly or we can run the power up a little bit more but great to catch you David you're fine 758 with Q and thanks very much 73 >> 73 David right let's go to the other side of the UK Belden in Yorkshire a very good morning to my friend Simon Mike Yankee Ko Sierra coming in on Troyman. >> Yeah, good morning Troy. Golf 7 Lemur Hotel Kilo. Thank you very much for the news and good morning everybody on the side. Nice signal today, Troy. 59 + 10. Solid copy. Nothing missed. No big problems whatsoever. Europe's not quite causing any mayhem this side yet. It tends to be a bit later. I think we're kind of a bit slower on the ban picking up further north you get. So, you're still cracking over. Hope you're well and very nice news broadcast. Thanks very much indeed. As usual, M0 YKF. >> M0 YKF. The pleasure's mine, Simon. Uh my best regards to you and the the girls there. I hope they're doing okay. And uh I I have watched a couple of your YouTube videos recently uh when you've been uh doing some more satellite work. So fair fair play to you, mate. Um, I have got a couple of YouTube videos out there, but not as uh not as um good as yours, mate. Nowhere near. I I don't Well, I do have uh satellite for sure. Uh or did have, I should say, uh the satellite antennas in the shed um out the way. And the FC991A is no good at the moment because the vinyls are gone on VHS. I've got nothing that uh will actually track the satellite using the software. Uh the FDM 100 won't do it. Uh but we'll get it sorted in the new year. All the very best for you, mate. I'm sure we'll catch you up before Christmas. If we don't have a splendid Christmas, my friends, and my best regard to the girls there Mike Yankee Kier from Gold 7 Lima Hotel K7 LH KM0 Y. Thanks very much for the kind words, Troy, and thanks for watching some of the stuff I do as well. I do see some of your old as well. It's all good stuff and uh that's what makes it interesting and glad to hear uh that you like the satellites and sorry to hear about the uh final blow on the 991 and uh hopefully you'll get back on the birds real soon. It'd be good to have a chat, would you? Quite a few people seem to be making a move towards it lately. So, it's getting pretty popular and obviously anybody who's on there is always uh well chased after new call signs. So, great stuff. Thanks a lot. Catch you later. Merry Christmas in advance. I'm sure we'll catch some big Christmas holidays. I'm looking forward to them already. 73 from Bale and M0 YKF. Yeah. All the very best, Simon. Yeah, you'll catch me tweeting on the birds or with the birds sometime in the new year, mate. And we'll we'll catch you on the on the satellite, Simon. All the very best, my friend. 73 for now. Right, let's go to Shane in Borough in Northamptonshire. Uh, we've got it spelled correctly now. I I got it down as I last week or the week before, but we now know it's Earthwing. So, very good morning Shane Echo with Trimo. Good morning to you. >> Yeah, good morning Troy and excuse me. Yeah, good morning to you, Troy. Yeah. Um, I just thought the last few months you maybe been pronouncing it wrong. I didn't realize it was actually written down wrong. Hey, guys. Anyway, you're a crashing signal. 59 plus constant throughout the broadcast. No QRM, not a word lost. So, thanks very much for reading the news, Troy. Um, sun's breaking out here and the XYL's uh getting on to me to go and get dressed and uh and carry on with a domestic task I'm meant to be doing. So, I'm not going to hold it much longer now. We've spoken. So, I wish you all the best. I won't be around next week. I'm in Yankee Oscar land next week is Yankee Oscar 2 Echo Whiskey Lima. So, listen out for me. You never know. at 10:00 a.m. on um uh Sunday. I do sometimes hear gun oddly enough during the news break off and a few times I have heard gun quite clearly when I've been in Yankee Oscar. So that's quite interesting. Okay, have a good week from G7WL. >> G7WL. Well, you never know Shane. Um uh to be uh to be fair uh John is racing next week and he runs a kilowatt. Uh he's got he's got the facility to run a lot more than that but obviously we can't for services. Uh but uh yeah there's no reason why you wouldn't hear John. I mean he's got a cracking signal as did Jeff JQ up in the ories there. Um and Jeff if you are listening this morning a very good morning to you. Well, it's probably too early actually. I think they're about 5 hours behind us. He's probably not up yet. Uh like my son, he's in the States at this point in time. But you never know, Shane, you you might hear either myself or Simon or John next week Shane if you're out and about. All the very best. Have a good journey. Golf 7 Echo Whiskey LE Hotel. Have a good day. Have a good week. G7WL 73. Everyone else. >> Yeah. Cheers, Shane. Right in Northern Ireland. Peter 2 Hotel Echo Z. Good morning Peter. >> Yeah, 280 return. Yeah, good morning Troy. all heard 510 over the DB the whole way through bit of KRM but it uh it didn't hinder you in any way. Um just good morning to everybody on frequency you can hear me and other shortwave listeners and we'll be listening for you on Tuesday morning if you're so from this side hotel echo 7. Yeah, cheers there, Peter. Well, I can't promise. I can't promise. I I I do try and get on, but as Eric and John uh are well aware, it's uh it's unlikely for me I'm not alive at that time in the morning, especially if I don't go to bed till 4:00 in the morning. But we'll certainly uh we'll certainly give it a go, but I can't promise there. All the very best, my friend. Have a great Sunday afternoon and we'll catch you uh all being well next Sunday for the pre-news met when John reads next Sunday to India 0 hotel echo zulu a very good morning to you please 7:30 for now please try okay um before we go on to no uh we've done a lot n here a bit too whiskey I should have called you in earlier, mate. Uh, go ahead. >> Uh, G7 and HK. Yep. Mike 9 Sierra Victor returning. Yeah, no problem at all. It's um nice to hear the other the other chaps anyway. And uh big high on the uh calling Adrian number 10 on the list thinking it was number one. I've done it several times. I've uh looked at the spreadsheet and it's been scrolled down a bit and I've wondered what's going on and then realized I got to I got to scroll back up to the top of the list to see the whole thing clearly. Um that's all just part of the fun on a first thing on a Sunday morning. But um just uh as far as your transmission, yeah, no problems uh whatsoever. There's a station a couple of KCS down which um I'm just playing around with the notch actually just um um trying to notch that one out, but um but no problems at all. And um yeah, brilliant. And thanks for reading the news there. I'm going to sit quietly on the side uh doing what I do. Just listening by and uh um yeah, that's it. That's it from me. So uh to everybody uh on frequency uh 73 to you guys, I I am listening by and I might um I might do a short um uh secure after um Troy's uh finished up there. And um and to all the shortwave listeners 73 and uh yeah back over to you Troy G7 LHK from M9 SVW. No problem there Simon. Well thank you this morning as always for doing the pre news net for me. Uh it's always uh good to have a helping hand and with the other lads that helped out where conditions were a little bit roy. Uh but thanks for everything you did this morning, Simon. And uh we'll get that uh spreadsheet sorted. I don't know what went on earlier on, but uh it's it's something simple uh but we've got it and I can make amends on that later on. All the best, my friend. We'll catch you uh um maybe this evening if you're on the Discord channel. All simil chair Victor Whiskey from Golf 7 Lena Hotel. >> Yeah. 73 tro catch you later. >> 73 buddy. Right. Um I suspect put my teeth in. I suspect that Golf Zero Romeo Delta November might be by the name of Gordon uh here who is in deal. So Ger Romeo Delta November if you'd like to come in and correct me if I'm wrong with the name of it. I wonder if he's there. Golf Zero Romeo Delta November. >> Not there. >> Not there. Okay, thanks guys. Right, let's go to Simon in Bminster Gate. Lemur Oscar Julia George Lemur Oscar Julia. Go ahead, Simon. >> Yes, good morning Troy. G7 LHK from George A Lemur Oscar Japan. Yes, good morning Troy. all received well. Uh bit of good bit of spatter from the continental stations on the side. Didn't really affect you. You are 5 and 9 + 10. But all the weaker signals a bit more. Um I'm running here under a kilowatt at the moment. I've changed the way I do it. I've set the amplifier at max power and th it right back. So this amplifier is actually capable of doing over 2.5 kow. I never never never go up there. Um anyway, fine business. No problem. And thank you very much for reading the news. This is George Morosa Julia. Bye. >> Yeah, many thanks there, Simon. Yeah, well I haven't quite got the power that you've got, but mine will do 1.2K. Uh it is actually peing just over the K the KW mark, but I know with the the loss on the feeder, uh we will be under the uh uh the 1K mark at the antenna there. But obviously we've got the gain on the antenna. So we probably are putting out I'm guess some think in the region of about 3 kilow something like that. Uh but uh it h it does me and u uh I wish I never got rid of that kit SP220. Uh that would have done 2 kW all day long. But there we go. If another one comes up uh anytime and I've got the songs, I would snap the roll off for it. I should not have let that one go, unfortunately. But uh that's uh that's the way things go, isn't it? Sometimes finer. All the very best to you, my friend. Have a great Sunday afternoon and we'll catch you next Sunday morning hopefully for the free news next week. George A. Lemur Oscar Juliet from Golf 7 Lemur Hotel. >> Yes, no problem. Troy, I'm running here balanced feeder, so I've got very little loss. So, I have to make sure that I keep my uh my my ampire below the the legal limit of 1 kow, which I'm just about managing to do. Um yes, that heat kept um linear was a lovely thing and I never had one, but I do remember them very well. Anyway, thank you very much for reading the news and you've got a beautiful signal as always. This is George Lever. Oscar Julia clear. >> Yeah, many thanks. Son, thanks for the uh the comments. Yeah, I do wish I hadn't got rid of the uh the SP220. It was a pleasure um an amplifier and it would have uh would have sat there quite happily ticking along uh warming my shut up. I probably wouldn't have had to have the central heating on in here. I all the best, Simon. We'll catch you next time round. Right, let us go over to Mansfield. Good friend John G7KW. There you go. Hey, John. >> Yeah, good morning again, Troy. And see, I was uh I I finished uh Oh, sorry. I didn't break in while you were working the uh uh the Yanks. Uh but uh I did call when you'd finished William, but obviously you change frequency. But uh I did hear a Uh I think they were local to me or Sheffield area kept here in Sheffield in in the Philippines where were coming through and I did manage to get them to come back with me call sign uh but you know to repeat ask me to repeat it then they did gone but uh I've got no additional additional help and Uh, as things are now, I've noticed this last two weeks, Troy, as the side has been going uh um you know, it's been been getting dimmer and and darker. But uh I have an injection tomorrow, so we'll see if that'll pick it up. And if it doesn't, Ollie's got some in information for me for uh uh for the for the for the people watch and see. And uh yeah, it's come good actually. Uh uh Troy, uh I'm 85 today. And uh yeah, uh it's my birthday. I can't say the bloody birthday present has been good for me, but uh uh the sun's shining at the moment. We did have a a very heavy rain. Uh probably around about 9:00 and it really bucketed down and in fact my drains is all blocked up. Uh it's not uh not managed to clear it as yet. But uh thanks for reading news, Troy. And and I'm I'm waffling. And thank you. Thank you for putting up with me, Troy. Over. >> Oh, you're not waffling, John. Uh no, no problem at all, my friend. Well, very many happy returns of the day to you, John. And uh hope that the uh the injection tomorrow uh will improve your eyesight condition there, my friend. We'll uh we'll look out for you next week and you must give us an update, John. But have a good day and uh have a drink or two. I'll certainly have one for you later on. John Gold 7 kilo whiskey alpha from Gold 7 kilo at lema hotel kilo. All the best my friend. You take care John. >> Yeah, you've not mentioned having a cigarette drinking a cigarette. Have you baked up? >> Oh no, I am backed up John. But you can't you can't drink and smoke in a pub. Well, you can drink but not smoke. So, I should be heading down to my local for an hour. Uh the uh the villa are playing at 2:00. I've just realized that. Yeah, I should. Oh, darn it. It might be a bit busy down there today. I've forgotten that. Um yeah. Um if if I can make it before 2:00, all the best. Better. Uh but if I if I get there later than two, I think I'm going to struggle to get in. It's going to be rummed, I think. But uh you have a great afternoon John. We'll catch you next week. Gold 7 kilo whiskey alpha from golf 7 mean hotel kilo up the villa. >> Okay. >> Happy birthday John. >> Well Forest beat Liverpool yesterday. So that's that's they picking up again just for change of managers. I think it's three managers who left it up to now Troy this year. >> Oh by me. Yeah. Well, I I don't really follow football to be honest, John, but um uh as uh one of my relatives who sadly is uh passed away now, uh he used to play for the uh for the Villa back in the 50s and uh he was a a midfielder, I think. Uh but uh yeah, so ever since then, I've really supported them. Um I don't go to the match. Uh, I think I took my young son when he was about six. He's now 26. 20 odd years ago. Have a great birthday to my friend and we'll catch you next week. Right, let's go to Ollie. And I'm sure Ollie would like to pass his best wishes to you. M O L Y. Go ahead, Ollie. >> My zero Oscar. Yeah, happy birthday, John. And uh we'll let her come banging on that door at Ramoth sometime and catch up with you. Sure, John. >> Uh Ollie was calling you. John, are you still there? >> Yes, I I've just left. My grandchildren or my great grandchildren have just have just come. So 73 years old. Have a good day. Happy birthday. Thanks very much. You got to say on Tuesday disappointment to those on the side who tried to come in on your frequency. If they didn't, you got through it all. So, uh, thanks a lot for that. And, uh, you go and say hello to your ty bear a bit earlier than 4:00 in the morning. Then you'll come and see us on a Tuesday. yourself. Say hello to a teddy bear a little earlier. That's good thought. I think I'm a little bit old for a teddy bear now, to be honest. Oh dear. I I do have a quick uh quick little uh uh uh chuckle to tell you about. Uh my uh my daughter who lives in uh Burnt 7 8 mile away from me uh she sent me a video of my granddaughter yesterday and uh they're trying her out on solids now. She's just over 5 months old. Uh where where my two when uh when they were young uh my daughter and my son, we brought them up on father's rusk and milk and whatever uh you know sort of soft softish foods. Uh the trade for that has disappeared it seems. Um, she has a book which suggests, now get this guys, it suggests that they try the little ones on bitter foods before. So, the likes of broccoli. Well, it's quite um obvious that my granddaughter doesn't like broccoli. She tried it yesterday afternoon with us and the look on her face, Ollie, was absolutely incredible. I was in Texas here. She tried it and she was going, "Yeah, yeah." Uh, today she's got, uh, what's she got today? She's got avoc avocado. So, that'll be an interesting one if she sends me a video of that. But, uh, the lights have gone. Ollie. >> Yeah. Roger, mate. Yeah. Well, that's a that's a long time ago, mate. I mean, our young her 40s and u yeah food is different now I suppose but uh well she'll she'll sort out what she wants of course any people waiting to speak to so uh we'll catch up with you we can drag yourself out of the pit we'll catch you Tuesday and the night all our friends M0 >> okay Ollie yeah we'll catch you next Sunday if we don't catch you on the next Tuesday Morning. Uh, somebody's nicked me teddy bear, it seems. All right, mate. You take care. We'll catch you next week anyway. All right, let's go over to Gunther in Saraf in Germany. Good morning again, Gunther. Delta Juliet Xway Bravo. Go ahead, mate. >> Yes. Okay, Troy. Uh well at first I I would like to say uh uh uh to congratulate Tom to your birthday and uh wish you all the best for tomorrow for your injection. I don't think that John is still on frequency but maybe he got it and uh so concerning the the broadcast uh well 59 10 all the time but I uh well I had uh really a problem with the uh with the Q. So well uh uh 1k down uh there was an Italian station working 2k down there was a German sten and uh and well it wasn't it wasn't really a pleasure it was very difficult so I could hear everyone uh of the uh of the nu of the audience but well very very difficult uh this morning and uh uh well when I started at the amateur radio in 1955 I I it was a rule uh to listen before transmission but that's obviously not the case anymore. So and uh well I got your message will give you an answer later. So it uh well it was a bit difficult, a bit tricky this morning I tried and uh but it's not your fault. Okay then. So um um uh good morning and 73 to everyone and see you next uh time again. So G7 LHK DJ to X-ray bravo 73 and the best wishes to all of you. >> Yeah 73 go and thank you for the feedback on that. Uh I think uh Becky, Mike of Delta, India Delta, she normally records the broadcast for me. Uh so I'll uh I'll pick that up later on when she sends it through Dropbox and I'll have a listen back to see what uh what sort of interference we've got there. Obviously when I'm transmitting I can't hear it. So uh but uh uh my uh my apologies and yes, you are right there, G. Uh you should always listen before you call out. uh turning manners at the end of the day, isn't it? But some of the people unfortunately seem to have lost that ability. Gunter, all the very best, my friend. We'll catch you next Sunday. Uh Delta Juliet 2 X-ray Bar 73 Gunther. All the best to you and Elizabeth. 73 for now. >> Okay. 73. And uh thank you again for reading the news. So uh well, so see you next time again. That's DJ to X-ray. Bye to you all. >> Yeah. Bye. Go. Yeah, I've got it all to do again in another hour. I'm a glutton for punishment, it seems. It's only a trial anyway this uh this weekend and see how we get on and uh if it does work out then I should start it up in the new year probably uh have a break before the Christmas period and then we'll start with in the new year. All the best my friend and uh with that we will go to young Eric G3 KPU. Good morning Eric in Doncaster. Yes, from T3 KBU. Yes, good morning everyone who's still listening and uh I'm okay. Had some rain this morning, but it's fine now. Oh, excuse me. And uh copying everybody, copied all the news and uh got you come to your five and nine as usual. No problems at all. It's my love still in uh I've been to Northern Ireland with Marian uh a long time ago uh to the turn of the century I think and uh about 2002 and I was president of G2 at that time but they altered the procedure now so uh I don't uh I don't get involved and We're copying everybody. All right. Uh, somebody had a birthday. You're doing very well. Keep going. You catch your meal. But, uh, I honestly then, uh, we well, whatever I said. So, everything copied. I don't think there's anything else. Um, now I'll put it back to you there from G3 KPU. Go ahead. You're five and nine. >> Thank you very much, Eric. You're also 5 and N with a little bit of QSB, but uh all copied all the way through there, my friend. >> Well, thank you for calling in this morning, Eric, as always. It's just a pleasure to speak to you and uh I'm sure we'll uh we'll catch you next Sunday morning when John reads the news at 10. So uh 7:30 for now. Have a good afternoon. Right, let me go to um the Canterbury Tale area. Peter Mike Zero Whiskey Papa Juliet. Good morning Peter. Mike Zero Whiskey Papa Julia here the Canterbury Char walking today because it's although it's wet this morning it's been remarkably mild. We had two frost days and that's about it. So it's been I think a very very mild uh November Troy 5 9 + 20 uh right the way through no problem at all. The continental seem to have disappeared uh momentarily anyway and so that's very fine indeed. In fact, propagation seems to be very good on 40 at the moment. I've heard everybody in nearly all the stations have been 59 and many many plus more than that. I know John, but uh yeah, great to hear that you're 85 today, John. And the injection goes well. But uh we're here about that. No doubt you call. And of course, we had the guy just uh on the pre-inet talking about floods in Wales. I don't know who he was. to be quite carous. So there you go. Anyway, lovely to hear you try. I don't know how you manage all this on about 4 hours sleep and then go on and do what the FM experimental broadcast, but you must have lots of energy and go and watch Bill as well and have a pint of beer. So long continue or less from Mike Zero Whiskey Papa Juliet. Mike Z whiskey Papa Juliet golf 7 lemur hotel kilo. Yeah, no, no problem at all there, Peter. Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment, I think. Uh okay. Uh not only have I got to read the national news, which uh I must say is a little bit shorter of late, it was shorter last week as well. Um but uh I think the um the editorial team or the news team that put the uh the news broadcast together for us uh they've uh they've taken on board the fact that it was getting too long. Uh but having said that uh when I do the broadcast at 12 I should be reading the national news and the regional news for the Midlands area which is quite a long one as well. So uh that's going to take me a good 45 minutes. I timed it this morning on the clock is about 19 minutes in length. Uh and it's normally about 24. So it just shows you that they have cut that uh that down somewhat that um uh it's long enough but thanks for calling in this morning Peter you five and eight with a little bit of QS Baker unfortunately but copied all the way through my friend Mike Whiskey proper Julia from Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kira >> 73 is many thanks to Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo >> cheers Peter all the very best to you right let's go to Steven in Harford Makita Mike Nike Sierra Bravo. Go ahead, Makita. Good morning. >> Golf Lima Hotel and a little bit of it. No problem. So, no worries there. around today 71 for a 80 80 m inf it's about 40 it's about 40 m long but 40 m long there Mike >> I think you passed it back to me you were you were fine about 20 seconds ago and then you faded out with a lot of cure fa uh but uh copied most of that. Uh a quick question for you then Matita. If you've got a an NFD 71 ft obviously do the 80 m band. Um what is the uh the baron or the un that you're using a 49 to1 over? Yes, it's 49 to1. It's a UK antennas. The antenna the antenna is about 130 13 I think it is. Um it's a UK antennas one and it works really well. I need to get some more height there. Try um got a little bit of an injury so I couldn't bring the mask out, but I went up for the ladder and got it high as I could on the m the the one and threw it up in the tree. But at some point in time, I do need to get up higher and everything. So, all good. But uh uh for for reception and and also getting out of need to get it a bit higher there, Joy, back to you. >> Yeah, no problem there, Makita. Well, you've got the same uh same manufacturer as my uh Delta is for the 40 m band that's made by UK antennas and it works very very well. Uh I was using it on a one one uh balance but I've swapped that now to a 4 to one which originally came with the uh uh the antenna. Uh we were trying it out on a one to one but I've gone back to the port to one and it seems to be working okay. Uh the uh the one uh will uh will work on the uh or will it? No, it won't. It won't work on the dual beam test. Um it will have to be a 4 to1 balance. So I end up swapping those over. But UK is very well made. Um my uh my delta was a little bit higher. It's it's not at the height it should be. Uh but we can sort that out after the uh the winter period. So we'll uh we'll we'll persevere as it is at the moment. Mita, all the very best to you my friend. Have a great Sunday afternoon and we'll hopefully catch you next Sunday for the prenews next round. >> Mike Nike Mike Sierra Bravo from G7 Lemur Hotel 73 for now. >> Many thanks. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. >> 73. Right, let's go to Kings in North Golf 7. Golf Romeo David. Crossing over here crossing signal. >> Yeah. Golf United. Golf Romeo uh some golf sudden Lina Hotel Ko I got most of that David uh we are unfortunately suffing a little bit of Continentals coming in now and uh I'm not managing to knock all of them out managed a couple but uh uh it makes your audio a little bit muffled then as well. Uh but uh yeah uh all noted. Yeah, it's always 10:00 on a Sunday morning for myself and John and uh we here every every Sunday morning. But great to catch you this morning. Anyway, David, have a good weekend. left. We'll catch you Sunday night. She's coming all the way in the game. Not too bad. But anyway, he's going 85. Oh my gosh. But anyway, we hope for the best. Anyway, his grandchildren have arrived. Anyway, new guys in the middle of a birthday party and there's a large number of candles being born. So, um take care. I have this text. I went to the gentleman called the bike. I brought on this shape with all these candles on it and uh so we're just one step away from needing a fire extinguisher. Troy, ever since they broke one candle, we can multiply. But anyway, um we're still obviously uh unwell. Anyway, it goes and anyway, thanks again for reading the news 100%. Just checking for uh and uh great uh great voice um news political was always good to do everybody go straight echo India seven golf right echo India seven golf got the majority that there Charlie we've got continentals but I cannot knock out unfortunately that uh you know sort of causing an issue then but got the majority of that uh so thank you as always for touring in this morning And uh hopefully we'll catch you next Sunday. Charlie India 7 golf. Oh, excuse me. Uh Tom Gold 7 Hotel. Uh all the very best to you Charlie 7 please for now. >> All right guys, thanks very much. Take care. >> Yeah, cheers Charlie. All the very best. You came right up then. All right, let's try in Scotland. Mike Mike 9. Uh Yankee November. your head. News and Yeah, many thanks, Mike. Uh well about five and seven with a lot of uh uh interference from the Continental Station. Unfortunately, it was difficult to make out uh everything he said, but um I got the majority of it like Charlie in Donovan Island. Uh but uh yeah, uh it's that time of year, at that time of the day. Uh it seems to be getting uh oh, excuse me, earlier and earlier uh as the weeks progress there. Um last week was brilliant. It really was uh all the way through and I could hear everybody uh that called in, but I'm suffering this morning with uh a lot of the stations coming in now, unfortunately, at night, but got the majority of it, my friend. Thank you for watching again this week and uh hope we can catch you next Sunday when John's reading there. Mike Mike 9 Yankee Tango November from Gold 7 Lima Hotel Ko. All the very best, Mike. 73 for now. 73 Mike. Right, let's try Kelvin in Bstable. Mike one Charlie Vilo. Good morning, Kelvin. Mike one, Charlie Vilo. No, I think he may have gone or if he is there, I do apologize. I can't hear him. Uh, right, let's try Matt in Sheffield. Mike Kilo November Whiskey. >> Mike Kilo November Whiskey. Yeah, got you loud and clear, Troy. There is somebody just side of me. But, uh, we've got you there. And, uh, yeah, very good signal indeed. Thanks for reading the news as well. >> No problem at all, Matt. Thank you for calling in this morning. I'm glad you heard it all the way through there. So, that's uh that's good news. Uh I will get a recording of it later on from one of our club members uh who always records it for me on the Sunday morning. Uh whether it's myself or John Mo's reading, we always get the uh the recording there. Uh so I shall listen back to that and see what um uh if any QRM or DQRM was involved. Thank you for calling in this morning, Matt. We'll catch you hopefully next Sunday. Mike 0 Kilo November whiskey from Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo. Have a great afternoon my friend. We'll catch you next week. 73 for now. >> Yeah. Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo 73 Troy from Mike Zi. Have a good weekend. Bye. Cheers. 73. Right. Let's go to Durham and Mike Golf 7 Mike Bravo Hotel. Good morning Mike. Uh, go seven Mike Hotel. >> No, I think he did say he might not be around, but I did say we'd call him. So, uh, Mike, if you're not there, we did call you, but you you're not around. Right, let's go to uh another one in Durham. Uh, that's Dave 2, Papa Unifor. Go ahead. to echo zero proper uniform lemur. >> No. Okay. In number 26 on the whisper is David in Bogner regu Oscar n all the way through considerable but they come out and Um um and uh as I've only got a um something called um what's it called? Pocket knife um from pocket knife. 2024. Um, it's certainly pocket knife. They called it a knife. Um, and it's certainly working fairly well. So, anyway, Golf three. Mike Oscar from Golf 7 Vimma Hotel Ko. David. Uh yeah, no problem there, David. I I was struggling towards the end, but then you you came up in the noise, uh or out of the noise, I should say. So, uh I got the majority of it. Uh the band is going very very wide now, and it's it's not helping with the uh the contest going on. Um, we've been fortunate so far this morning, but I think the uh the band is going to change quite dramatically soon. So, but thanks for calling in this morning, David. Hopefully, the conditions will be improved next week. Uh, fingers, legs, and toes and whatever cross. We'll catch you next time. Golf three Mike Subaru Oscar from Golf 7 Lima Hotel K. All the best, my friend. I think he's finished there. Let's try Bob in Kifford Golf 7 Echo Hotel Romeo broken old bottle. Good morning Bob. >> Good morning Troy. G7 LHK here is G7 Ehr returning five and 9 plus 15 through the news. No problem. Currently running a bit of monkey chat each side of 127. But uh yeah, thanks for the excellent smooth delivery of the news, Troy. Uh lovely. Never missed a heartbeat, so to speak. >> You're a glutton for punishment, aren't you? Dear me. Uh anyway, it come that could be an age thing threatening Troy. I've forgotten about such things now. I can't be doing with it. Lucky headache. It's over. >> Well, I've got ear rake at the moment. That's not from you guys. It's the Continentals coming in. But fortunately, I don't have to wear a headset when I'm uh I'm going to be doing the news on the 2 m in a while. Uh I I haven't got the studio mic up and running yet, so I'm having to rely on the fish mic, which I think for 45 minutes is going to give me a little bit of cramp in my hand. But we'll uh we'll get that sorted and uh next next time around if this is a successful uh trial run we'll uh we'll have a studio m up and running for it. So I'll just put my foot on the pedal like I'm doing now and uh we can uh we can have both hands free there. Uh as always, Bob, it's a pleasure to see speak to you, my friend. And uh we'll catch you in the week, I'm sure. Uh if not we'll catch you next to you around G7 Echo Hotel Romeo Bob in Cor East 73 an hour my friends from G7 Lima Hotel C. >> Yes sir. Many thanks for that Troy. Oh oh oh in passing. I've been trying to contact our common good friend uh to his KKKA. I know he's incapacitated, but I can't get any information of his current status. Could you help on that front? No. >> I wish I could actually, Bob. Um, the the person probably to speak to uh I would guess would be either uh Ollie uh M O L Y or maybe um um uh John Pin Mansfield KWA whose birthday it is I think uh today. Um so one of those two would know more. I know he's had uh about his pneumonia, I believe. Um he was I think hoping to come on and call in this morning from what um uh what the lads were saying, but I think he's still under the weather, Bob. So, uh it's obviously not the case at this point, but um I'm sure one of the lads will update you on that, Bob. Go ahead, other >> Yeah, many thanks for that. Yeah. Well, he's only down the road, but I'm not awfully mobile. Otherwise, I'd pay the man a visit. I know where he lives. Um on the on the top there, and the weather's not been very good anyway. Oh, that's I'm sorry to hear that it's I had a spell, didn't I, for a month in hospital with double pneumonia fluury from July, would you believe? But we're coming through that now. Uh still a little bit bruised by the exercise, but nevertheless it is as it is. Anyway, always a pleasure to hear you young man. Uh your do tones, beautiful signals, lovely balanced audio and I'll wish you best 73 and you take care of yourself and enjoy. Well, have a point on me and I'll put the check in the post for Roger. Oh, you don't need to send a check. No, I I'm fine with that. Thanks, Obama. Just wish us luck for the Villa match against I think we're playing leads today, so uh let's see how we get on with that. But we'll we'll catch you later on. Uh I've got another hour and a half, maybe two hours before I can take the old dicky bow off. We all we'll catch you next Sunday. All being well. Golf 7 Echo Hotel Romeo from Golf 7 Hotel Kilo. Uh 73 for now. B3 for now. Always a pleasure. G7 ehr now QRT. >> 73. Bob. Right. Let's go to Chesterfield in Disher. We've got two two on the list now to go and then I'm going to take a little break for a little while uh and get myself sorted for the 2 m broadcast. Uh, Golf 7 Victor Kilo Papa Adrian in Chesterfield. Go ahead, Adrian. >> Good morning, Troy. Yes, I'll catch you on the 2 meter net. No doubt you're only 39 miles away, so you're within my sphere of uh pick up on two. Uh, all received, all noted. Uh, 59 foot plus, but there was a little bit. Uh, but, uh, no, uh, pops, bangs, whistles, trunks, or anything else. Over. Yeah, no problem there. Well, a little bit of QS Baker at the moment, Adrian, but you're making the trip to me on 40 m at I'm pretty certain you'll hear me on the 2 m frequency as well, which is 145525 and I should be broadcasting from 12:00. I'll have to go on there uh just prior to that just to make sure that frequency isn't in use. uh if it is and they've got a net running then I I won't uh I won't proceed with the uh the trial uh it wouldn't be fair for me to try and interrupt that. Uh but if the frequency is clear when I get on about 10 to 12 something like that we'll uh we'll be completely clear for a good 45 minutes or so while I read the the broadcast on on 525 there. Thanks for calling in on 40 this morning. Hope to catch you on 2 m later on. Uh if you do hear me uh either drop me an email if you can't call in uh or um uh message me or whatever and give me a signal report so I can send that back to the headquarters and just feedback for the service that we're doing today hotel. It's clear as a minute, Troy. Over. >> Ah, super. Right. That's brilliant. Uh, agent. We'll uh we'll we'll uh we'll try that in about 20 minutes or so. All the best, my friend. We'll probably catch you in a little while. Right. The last one on the list is Kevin in all the shop. Gold 7 o. Go ahead, Kevin. tonight. >> No, I think he's gone as well. Right, that's the end of my list. Um, I'm going to disappear for a little while. Have a few few minutes break before I'll go on to two leaders. But I know Simon and Mike Nex still on frequency. So, Simon, if you want to take the frequency, it's yours, my friends. And if you want to call in. Yeah, roger on that, Troy. Uh, I might just leave it this morning and uh because the Continentals are making quite a bit of noise this way and I've been playing around with the notch uh all through the post news net and uh I've not managed to be very successful in notching all the noise out. So, I might just leave them to it this morning. But I'll certainly uh take a peek by on the 2meter um broadcast and I might even uh get on there a wee bit early and uh just call secure until you're ready to come on and uh hopefully keep the frequency clear for you. So, but uh all fine. Managed to hear everybody on the post newset. A little bit of uh you the QRM and the QSB uh a little bit there, but uh but yeah, all all uh received and understood. So, uh, yeah. Um, I will say 73 to you now and let you get a break and, um, catch you a little bit later. Um, back over to, uh, G7 LHK from M9 SBW. >> M9 S3W. G7 LHK. Yeah, no problem. Uh, once again, thanks for all your help this morning. And, uh, yeah, we'll we'll catch you on the 2 m band in about uh, oh, half an hour or just under. Uh, I'll do the uh the national news as always and then I'll read the uh the regional news for the Midlands area. I have taken a few out uh because they'll probably not be heard in where I am. Um I probably wouldn't reach their sort of area. So I've taken those out and I know Eddie and uh Reg do the same. you know, if they think they're not in the broadcast area for them, uh, then they'll they'll delete them from the list. So, okay, matey, thanks for your help again and we'll we'll catch a little while. Mike 9 Sierra Victor Whiskey from Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo. Cheers, Simon. All the best, mate. We'll catch you in a little bit. >> Golf 7 Lima Hotel Kilo. Mike 9 Sierra Victor Whiskey. Yeah, all the best, mate. And uh, I'll speak to you a bit later on. And I just want to thank the RF guards for being quite kind to us today. and uh say 73 to everyone who's listening on the side and all the shortwave listeners. Um bye-bye now. >> Simon and likewise from Golf 7 Lima Hotel Ko. Thank you to everybody that's called in this morning and for all the short wave Christmas. Uh we will uh we will put my teeth down. We will catch you next Sunday. I do have to go. I've got to get ready for the 12:00 broadcast. So this is Golf 7 Lima Hotel QLC alley frequency 73 >> 73 from Mike 5 India Charlie Bravo so echo India 73 have a nice morning and we might hear you on the 2 m >> right okay Peter yeah I thought somebody had called in but I wasn't quite certain because we've got a lot of continental stations at this point in time Peter but thank you for calling in mate I do have to choose unfortunately don't want to be rude Uh but I'm going to take a 10 minute flight and have a quick figure that go through the loop. Make sure I'm comfortable. Um I'll be on the 2 m band in about half an hour. 73 on golf 7 hotel kilo down to everybody that's called in short wave. Uh G7HK is now 73. Bye-bye for now. >> Bye-bye. >> So there we go. So that's the uh the first broadcast of the post newset. Now I uh I'm involved in the pre-newset which all those people on the um sheet there on the spreadsheet that Troy G7 LHK was calling back in uh I help uh get the people on the sheet in the first place. But um [clears throat] yeah, um I didn't record uh the pre-newset. I just thought I'd go for the post news net and uh put this up for you guys and you know if uh you find it interesting uh give us a comment in the in the bottom and um I'll uh well I'm going to continue putting them anyway because I know that's going to be some people out there find it quite interesting so they can hear how they sound coming into this uh station in Royal Lemington Spa. 73s everybody. Goodbye to everybody else and uh I'll catch you in the next one. Bye-bye.
