Welcome to Fun Mandering with Andreas, where learning mandering is fun. I'm Andreas G. Today, I'll be teaching you how to ask for directions at the airport. You'll be learning some useful vocabulary and phrases that will add you when traveling in Taiwan, specifically at Talian International Airport. Let's start with a simple download that can be used when asking for the restaurant at the airport. I'll be joined by my co-host Haley later. Listen carefully. This dialogue teaches how to ask for directions and follow them in Mandaring. Now, let's break down the vocabulary. >> Restaurant, bathroom. The word she means to wash and show means hands. Combined with jen meaning room, this word paints a clear image of a place dedicated to cleanness, a room where hands and worries are washed away. So directly translates to hand washing room and is commonly used in Taiwan to refer to the restroom. It's important to know this word when asking for bathroom in public places like airports, restaurants or shopping malls. It is also using formal settings. Other terms for restaurant which is slightly more casual. Excuse me if I may ask. This is a polite phrase used to get someone's attention when you need to ask a question. especially for directions or information. It combines the word which means please with means to ask. It sets a polite tone for your question. Example, excuse me, where's the subway station? Where is this phrase is used when asking about the location of something means at or located and means where. You can use this phrase to inquire about a place, object or person. For example, where is the restaurant? over there used to indicate a place that is farther away from the speaker. Na means that and refers to location. This phrase is often used when pointing or describing where something is. For example, the station is over there. Go straighten means toward the front or forward and means work or go. This phrase is frequently used to guide someone to go forward without turning. It helps when following directions in the building, airport or streets. Example, go straight for 200 meters. Go straight means straight and means walk. This phrase is similar to but it can imply walking for longer distance or duration. For example, Keep walking until you reach the intersection. Turn left. Means left and means turn. This phrase is useful when giving directions to indicate a late turn. for example means turn left at the next intersection turn right means right and means turn. This is used when you need to instruct someone to make a right turn. For example, the bank is on the right. Turn right. Then afterwards is used to connect two actions in the sequence. It means then or afterwards and helps structure directions or instructions. It's often placed between two actions to indicate the next step. For example, go straight then turn right. The bank. This is the word for bank. A place where you can manage financial transactions. You might see this word on signs in public places, especially in business districts or near ATMs. For example, will meet at the bank. A A is next to B indicates location and means beside or next to. This phrase is used to describe the relative location of two things. For example, the restaurant is next to the bank. Finally, thank you. A simple and polite way to express gratitude in mandering. It's essential to use this when someone helps you with directions or provide assistance. For example, thank you for your help. More vocabulary. Bus stop. Another important word at the airport is bus stop. When you are catching a ride into the city, baggage clan. After your flight, you'll head to the baggage clan area to pick up your luggage. Currency exchange. This is where you exchange foreign currency for local currency at the airport or in a bank. Tawian or Tawian International Airport is Taiwan's busiest airport and one of the major gateways to Asia. It's located about 40 kilometers west of Taipei and handles millions of international passengers every year. The airport is known for its modern facilities like shopping centers, restaurants, and lounges. But there are also some hidden gems that make this airport special. >> Hidden gems? That sounds interesting. What are some of these lesserknown facilities? >> One of the biggest hidden perks of Talian International Airport is the availability of free launches. These launches offer a relaxing environment with free Wi-Fi, comfortable savings, charging stations, and even complimentary snacks and beverage. You don't have to fly business class to use these lounges. Any travelers can access them for free. That's a great benefit, right? Especially for those with long layovers. >> Exactly. But that's not all. The airport also offers free shower facilities. Perfect for freshening up after a long flight. And for those who want to stay active, there's even a fitness center available for passengers who want to get a workout in before their next flight. >> Wow, that's really impressive. And what about the terminals? Can you give us an overview? >> Sure. The airport currently has two operational terminals with a third terminal under construction. Terminal one. This is the older of the two, but has been renovated with new modern amenities. It's home to many international airlines and features free lounges, restaurants, and shopping areas. Terminal 2. This is the larger terminal and handles the majority of international flights. It's designed for comfort with spacious seating areas, shops, and dining options. Both terminal off also offer free Wi-Fi and plenty of charging points. >> Terminal 3 under construction. Once completed, Terminal 3 will increase the airport's capacity significantly, focusing on eco-friendly design and innovative technology to streamline passenger experience. >> That sounds very modern. How about transportation to and from the airport? Transportation is super convenient. The Tawan Metro connects the airport directly to Taipei main station in just 35 minutes. It's fast, clean, and perfect for anyone heading into the city. >> In addition to the metro, there are also buses running to various parts of Taipei and other cities in Taiwan and taxes are readily available 247. And what about passenger capacity? >> Tawian International Airport has a massive capacity. It handles over 48 million passengers in 2019 before the pandemic and is continuously expanding to accommodate more. With a new terminal 3, the Elpo will be able to handle even more traffic in the coming years. It sounds like Tawa International Airport really stands out in terms of both comfort and convenience.
