Video summary

The high school football rivalry between Shabbona North and South was defined by North's dominant performance in rainy conditions, resulting in a decisive 38-12 victory that improved their season record to 2-1 while leaving South at 0-3. The game began with North establishing early control through their triple-option offense, led by quarterback Ryland Burr and running back Blaine Hein, who consistently gained ground despite the wet ball making play difficult for both sides. Although South managed to narrow the deficit with a long touchdown pass from Austin Decker to Nicholas Hildebrand in the first half, they struggled significantly with discipline issues, committing numerous false starts and holding calls that disrupted their drives and prevented them from mounting a serious comeback. Throughout the contest, North's offensive efficiency contrasted sharply with South's struggles against pressure and infractions, as evidenced by key plays from players like Jeremiah Stewart for North and Eli Velum for South who contributed significantly to the rushing attack. The broadcast highlighted several dramatic moments, including a late touchdown by North with only 23 seconds remaining in the second half that sealed their lead after an extra point review adjusted the final score margin. Defensive pressure from North's front seven, featuring players like Tanner Teagel and Trevor's son, forced multiple incomplete passes on South's side, while North's receivers such as Jeremiah Appleton and Parker Ninman capitalized on opportunities to extend their lead further into the fourth quarter. Beyond the on-field action, the segment provided insight into the broader context of high school football, discussing the substantial financial burdens placed on families with equipment costs like helmets reaching $3,200 and the coaching challenges involved in managing player safety and roster depth. The broadcast interspersed play-by-play commentary with advertisements for charitable organizations such as Shriner's Children's and Children International, alongside recovery stories that underscored the community impact of the sport. As the game concluded with one minute left on the clock, hosts Mike Martin and Wade Rickmire signed off by announcing upcoming matchups, including South's game against Manitowoc on September 17th and Green Bay East's visit to Shabbona North the following Friday, setting the stage for continued regional competition.

We're at South High School where tonight the Red Wings host cross town rival Shboan North. Hello everybody alongside Wade Rickmemire. I'm Mike Martin. We'll be bringing you tonight's uh rivalry game between Shbboan North and Shboen South. Also the first conference game of the year. Uh Wade, what do you know about South and North? give us a little preview what's happening tonight. >> Well, Marty, this is my first North South game in quite a while. And by the way, thanks for asking me. Um, I I just don't know a whole lot. I I know that North's got a couple of real good athletes that they like to run kind of an option, a triple option, and uh you know, if you can do that successfully and stop the run, you're probably going to have a lot of success. We had a chance to talk to Chris Hine, the athletic director, about the South High football team, and he said they got a couple of good edge rushers that could cause problems for uh uh Ryland Burr, who's the quarterback. >> Yeah, you know, Ryland's uh they got him listed at 6'5, 195. Not your typical option quarterback, but I think he's a highly skilled athlete. And uh you you just you just never know. You just never know what kind of defense they're going to play. If they're going to play a fiveman front, fourman front a against a fiveman front, things can be a little bit different. >> One of the things that uh South has had trouble with in the past at least is stopping the run. Uh North does like to run the ball, especially with the uh uh off direction kind of runs, you know, the triple option kind of thing. What kind of problems does that pose for a defense? Well, I I think once you run the triple option and you run it correctly, then all of a sudden by the second quarter, you run a lot of misdirection plays and those are usually your big game breakers. Um it's when when I was coaching years ago, if if you were a team that ran that kind of offense, usually by the second or third quarter, you're running a lot of misdirection and it's very confusing for the defense. One of the things knowing having coached football is you kind of look at your defensive ends and see how they react when you're running a play away from them and if they crash down that's when you come with the reverse. >> Exactly Marty. Uh you know a lot of times you overcommit and when you do that somebody who's watching can say let's let's do this. We run a counter play some kind of reverse and all of a sudden you're off to the races. >> Now both teams had all conference players last year. Both teams only had one returning this year. Uh, one of them was Jackson Kenudson who plays both offense and defense. He made honorable mention as a defensive player. The player for South was Jovon Adamovich. Made it as a running back. He's not suited up tonight. Uh, so North has a bit of an advantage in that regard. >> Yeah, probably. You know, I I'm looking at experience and and I've always said you win with seniors and uh you know, I looked at the roster and North only has eight seniors, but if they're eight good seniors, that could be 16 positions. >> Yeah, exactly. Well, with that, we're going to step out and we come back, we'll have the opening kickoff for tonight's football game. >> Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. At this time, >> it's peaceful here. Quiet, but it wasn't always. Here you can walk in step with history. The land remembers, and so does the American Battlefield Trust, dedicated to preserving America's hallowed battlegrounds. Now, on our nation's 250th birthday, there's never been a better time to safeguard what matters for tomorrow. Join the trust. Protect the future. Learn more at battlefields.org. Have you ever helped a fellow veteran? >> Of course. >> Yes. >> Have you ever asked for help yourself? >> It's always tough, right? >> I always feel like I can solve my own problems, but eventually, you know, you just can't deal with it on your own. >> And you start to question maybe people would be better off without you realize that you're not alone. Once you take that first step, there's so much support. >> Serious man, >> I actually drive better when I'm on it. If anything, I'm more careful. >> It just helps me focus. ever contest sportsmanship as a golden expectation for all attendance at today's game. Remember to sport a winning attitude by ensuring >> they take good care of me. >> When I come here, >> I feel like I belong. >> Shriner's Children's provides specialized care to kids who need it most. This place is amazing and I can't believe how much it's helped me through my hard times. >> What I love about Shriner's Children's is the mission. There's nowhere else in the world that I could provide the care that we provide. >> Go online to loves Shriners.org. Thank you >> for the playing of the national anthem by the South Pep Band. Heat. Let the Heat. Heat. Oh yeah. North comes into tonight's game with a 1-1 record. They were 5-4 last year. Uh last week they defeated Green Bay East 14-6. South comes in 0 and2. They were 1 and8 last year. Uh 1-6 in conference play. Uh they lost to Appleton West last week by a score of 44 to8 and uh they got a tough one next week. Wade. >> Yeah. >> South has to go to Green Bay Notre Dame who's uh one of the top teams in the state. Uh North next week will play Green Bay East at home and uh that'll be another TV game for us. It >> it looks like East might be a little bit better than they had been in the past and Green Bay Notre Dame uh that's just an outstanding program. It's like they never rebuild, they just reload. >> Well, you know, one of their alumni will be playing in Lambeau Field >> this Sunday. >> Who is that? >> I believe his name is Flanigan. >> Oh, yeah. The big lineman. >> And uh No, he's a freshman, I believe. There >> he's a freshman. I I'm not sure he's going to be playing or not, but he is a freshman. and his his uh family, I think, both played at Notre Dame. His dad's name is Jim. I think his uncle's name was Brian. And I think the grandpa actually played for the Packers. >> Quite a history there. And I know they have uh you know, one of the best players in running backs in the country probably in Kingston, Allen, >> right? I think in uh first week he had more yards in the game than I had in my career at North High. >> Well, I think I think in the first two games he's got 12 touchdowns. Does that sound right? >> That sounds about right. >> I mean, that's only six a game. >> Right. >> Now, they either get six a game because they're that good or because they're running up scores. I I don't know. >> One of the deep return men for North is Fabian Brz. He's number one. Uh can't catch the number of the deep man all the way back. That might be uh Stewart, AJ Stewart. >> I I think it is. >> And uh getting ready to kick off for North for South, pardon me, is uh number it's at 82 I believe it is. Liam C. >> Liam C. Yeah. See uh falls down on the kick, but the BRZ has it. Takes it right up the middle. Bounces it offside. He's got an opening. He slipped by a couple of tacklers, but finally was brought down at about the 48 yd line. Making that stop for South was number 33. >> Nice nice return. If that slip on the kickoff is any indication, I think we had 3.5 inches of rain here. >> Yeah, that was Liam, pardon me, Saul Lerman. >> Good tackle by him. Saved the touchdown possibly. >> Mhm. >> At the controls for North is Ryland Burr. >> Looks like a double slot. In motion is uh Stewart and uh Burr hung on to it and he gets sacked for a loss. >> Looks like a little mis miscommunication there. Marty >> Darien King on the uh stop >> loss of two on the play makes it second and 12 >> on the season. >> Burr is 22 for 41 passing. And a fake handoff. He keeps it. Now he pitches it out to the uh second option or third option. And that was uh on the carry was Ethan Freeart. >> That that looked like a true triple option. Marty fake the dive, fake the off tackle, pitch to the outside. >> And uh Bird did an excellent job of reading the defense that time. >> Did he did a good job of reading the defensive end? They can't make out his number, but 90 something. 92. >> Yeah, Carter Culp. He played a lot last year. He's a good player. >> Oh, they weren't set. >> And right up the middle and getting the first down was I believe that was Stewart >> getting taken down at the 40, but there is a flag. >> Not set. >> Yeah, it seemed to go awfully fast. >> And there's the call. A lot of offensive coordinators are anticipating fourth and short. What do you do? >> Go for it. >> You bet. Different mindset than it used to be. It's a third down and about eight. >> Burr on the uh nice pass. >> Nice. Good catch and getting the first down for Shboan North was uh number 34. That's uh Blake Blaine Hein. >> Bla Hein. Nice throw. Nice catch. Nice nice well-designed play. W on the fake handoff. It's a keeper. He's through the line. He's going to have a first down inside the 20. >> I think we have a hole, Marty. >> It is a hold on Shboan North. Their second penalty. >> They were able to overcome the first one. We'll have to see they can do that again. >> It's going to be second in plenty or first and plenty, I'm sorry. >> Ball is spotted at the 40 yd line. >> These uh penalties in uh high school are a little different than in the pros. They mark it at the spot of the foul instead of the uh >> right >> yard line that they started at. >> Yeah, it's a spot foul instead of the line of scrimmage. First down and about 15. >> Nice. >> Another pitch out. This one to uh Stewart >> and he's gone. >> Touchdown. 40 yd touchdown run. >> Well, well designed >> AJ Stewart. >> Maybe the best thing for North is to get a penalty. Are these guys going for two? >> Uh, >> nope. No, no. >> They're missing a guy. Marty. >> Yeah, imagine that in high school. >> Brody Conrad is uh getting set to uh attempt the extra point. Usually the guy that would be short would be the guy that scored the touchdown cuz he's off to the sideline celebrating. >> Look at that kick. >> Whoa. >> He's He's good from 40. >> A boomer. >> And with uh 957 left in the first quarter, it's Shboan North 7. South nothing. >> Well done. >> All right. I'm in the house. >> Okay. What do you see? >> Nothing yet. Hold on. I think I just heard something. I'm heading upstairs. >> Okay, I'm almost there. >> I'm in the bedroom. >> Okay. >> Oh It's not here. >> What? >> The gun's not here. >> What? What do you mean? Where is it? >> Hey, Cam. Cameron, are you in there? Open the door. Cam, come on. Cameron. Cameron. There's >> Charlie. I think there's four boys and a girl. >> Yeah. >> Back here at South High North taking it uh 52 yardds and about five four plays. Two of those actually would have been six plays, two of them were penalties, but four offensive plays >> took him to score. And the big play was the 40 yd run by AJ Stewart. Back deep to return the kick is Eli Velum and uh Jack Pson. Uh maybe that isn't Pzen. Maybe that's number 82, Liam Lee. >> Oh, North offside on the kickoff. There you >> come on. >> Rudy Conrad is uh not only doing the extra points, but he also is kicking off. Not a good start for North in terms of uh penalties. >> It's their third one already. Well, just kick it out of the end zone and there's no problem. >> Conrad, a pretty big guy, 6 foot 160. He uh really boomed that extra point, Wade. >> He did. Yeah. >> Let's go, boys. I >> think North had a pretty good kicker a couple years ago. A kid by the name of Fox was looking at possibly being able to kick in college. Ball picked up at the 18 yd line and uh getting it out to about the 33. >> Fell Bloom on the return. >> Austin Decker is the quarterback for Shboen South. We haven't we didn't mention his name in the opening. He's a seven for 21 passing. Does have a touchdown. >> We'd like to give you some sizes and weights on these South players, but all we got are positions in the year they are in school. >> They're spreading the field though. Four wide receivers. Quick out. Good catch made >> by Nicholas Hildebrand before he's brought down. >> Five guys attacking the ball carrier. >> Loses a yard on the play. >> Sam Olsen on the stop. Olsson played a lot of football last year. Mixed between uh quarterback and did play some defense. >> Well, he's a good basketball player, too, isn't he? >> Yes, pretty good basketball player. Second and 11 for the Red Wings again. They spread the field. >> Fake handoff. Decker keeps it, bounces off of one tackler, rips through another tackle, and gets it all the way out to the 44 yd line. >> Nice run. Nice fake >> and the running back carried the fake out which was real nice. >> 14 yd pickup for uh Decker and a first down. Looked like motion in the line but no call. Run it up the middle. Velum again on the carry. >> Bart on the tackle. >> 68's a good looking player. >> 6'2 230. When when Wade talks about a player and he starts giving you the size of the player, you know it's a north player because we don't have that information on south. >> We don't have the south. >> Another handoff right up the middle. >> Good job by South to not jump offside. One of the linebackers looked like they were blitzing, but uh So, as the play caller, are you anticipating >> third and fourth down here? >> Uh, down by seven. >> I think if they if it'd be fourth down and about four like this, I think they'd be punting. If they can get it within a yard or two, I think they'll go for it. >> We'll see. >> Here we got trips off to the right. The man on the line of scrimmage is uh Parker Ninaman. >> There you go. >> Now we're back. Nineman was the intended receiver. The pass was tipped by the defense and uh goes incomplete. And it is fourth and four. And uh South is lining up to uh punt. >> This is probably a good move. >> Get him back to the 20. Make a long field for him. >> Yeah, they still have too many guys in the back field that the guy on the far side needs to get up on the line of scrimmage. This is going to be a penalty. >> Yes, it is. >> And it's going to be illegal procedure. The rule is you can only have four people in the back field. And with that uh wide receiver off to the left being a step off the line of scrimmage, that gave you five in the back field. And uh >> it's pretty easy to spot that, Mark. >> Yeah. Right. Back deep to receive the uh punt is uh AJ Stewart. >> You got a good shot on that shot being given to you by uh >> Greg Zablaki. >> Well, >> all right. The uh punter for South was uh barely touched and uh did a great job of falling down, Wade, but uh the official wasn't having any of it. No penalty on the play. >> That's good officiating. >> North is going to have it. >> See if See if North goes to the wide side this time. >> This drive is going to start on the 37 yd line. They're going to mark it. He uh >> there you go. >> Waiting for the sticks to move and they did. >> Wide receivers left and right. We got the three uh backs with the quarterback in the back field. And then we've got offside on South >> defensive player in the line >> lined up offside. That's an automatic penalty. First down. >> Let's go. >> Stewart in motion. Fake handoff. Pitch back to Stewart. He's got it. >> Well run. Well run. >> And they ran it to the short side. Maybe they're setting something up. Wade, >> you mean like a misdirection? >> Exactly. >> Some kind of counterplay. >> Very possible. >> You got a timeout on by South. >> Timeout South. North's going to keep on doing what they're doing. >> I'm looking across the way, Marty, and I see a nice contingent of North fans. Pretty good turnout for the North South game uh by both sides. Uh didn't look like we were going to have a game this morning. >> Oh my. >> It was uh really raining, >> especially around 6:00. Oh my goodness. >> I know. By our house, we had uh almost 4 and 1/2 in. >> Yeah. >> And I know a couple of the buddies we were at breakfast with this morning were, you know, over three. Four, four and a half. >> Oh, yeah. But believe me, it was needed. >> Exactly. >> Everything was brown. And >> one of the uh fellas that comes to breakfast with us as a starter at Whistling Straits, he did not have to go in right away. >> Right. >> Uh they had over 2 and 12 in out there. >> And it was still raining, by the way. >> All right. North lining up. They're at the south 47 yd line. First and 10. They lead at seven to nothing. Handoff right up the middle. Fullback blasting through. Picks up about eight, >> maybe nine. Simple, >> simple play. Outstanding line play. >> Looks like the guard and the tackle were crosslocking on that. Lane Heinen number 34 on the carry. >> Second down for uh the Raiders. >> One of the interior players for uh South is uh number 44, Hayden Malik. >> Look at this. >> Another blast up the middle. Although I'm not sure that uh >> I I I thought the fullback had the ball. >> So did I. That was Stewart on the carry. >> See, I look at this third and short, Marty, as a throwing down >> cuz you're going to go for it on fourth down, right? >> You bet. You bet. You You can afford to waste one here. >> That was Stewart on the carry. Burr walking towards the uh north sideline gets the play. >> Well, I I I'm looking at height at at 23. He looks nervous like he's getting the ball. >> Fake handoff. Burr trying to take it inside. He lunges forward and has the first down. >> Looks like he's got the first down. Marty, >> it's nice to be a tall player. >> What? What a nice opportunity to throw the ball. >> First down. >> So far in the ball game, North has run the the ball seven times and passed once. >> One pass was a 16yd completion. The wide receiver at the bottom of your monitor is Mike >> Kakuat. Got to love that first name, Michael. >> Hand off inside. >> Seven yds a pop. >> Pretty hard to stop that. He lined on the carry again. >> Apple. >> One of the players down there with him blocking was Cody Turner. Number 51. >> Number 54 just came in the game. He's playing DTackle right where they run the ball. So, let's see if that has an impact. >> Yeah, he's a big guy. Gavin Vu. >> Gavin is a senior. Played last year. >> They got to get some push in the middle. They're not getting that at all. >> Oh, what's this? Delay. Delay of game. Oh my. >> Delay of game. >> When you see that back judge start using his hands, >> you know it's not on the defense, >> right? And you know, he's giving you a fair warning like there's five seconds before you have to snap it. >> So far on the season, uh has three catches for 30 yards. >> A pitch back to Stewart. He's got an opening. Oh, >> and a nice tackle made at the very end, saving a touchdown. >> That tackle was made by number 33. >> Saw a leader. >> Nice tackle. That that definitely saves seven. >> Boy, Burr runs that option so well. >> But he, you know, he's just not your typical option type quarterback. You know, usually it's a smaller guy. >> Fast, right? >> Speedy, quick. Exactly. >> Not not 65 200 >> inside handoff right up the middle. >> Oh my >> Hean drags him down to the five yd line. >> Great run by that young man. >> This this North team is fun to watch. >> 12 yd gain. North having it their way and they're keeping it on the ground where they've been extremely successful. Also spread the field. >> I'm looking at that goal line defense with only four guys on the on the line. He's in >> and uh on a keeper >> taking it in for a three-yd touchdown. Five yd touchdown. You got it marked up there. Ryland Burr. >> South South had a fourman front there. >> Kind of wondering why just four. >> Yeah, you're right. >> Now, this is uh who's the kicker, Marty? Is it Conrad? >> Conrad Brody, I believe it is. >> Brody Conrad. >> Oh, he's got a big leg. >> Yeah. Had it all the way across the track. >> Yeah. Well, when you're a kicker, you hope to get a lot of opportunities, >> and it looks like he's going to have quite a few tonight. >> Extra points and kickoffs. >> That's right. >> All right, we'll be back in a minute. >> Every smile is beautiful, even when it needs a little extra help to let it shine. Yeah, >> Decker's a starter, but remember mentioned about him playing a freshman, >> right? >> It's 14 to nothing. It's been all Shboan North way and uh >> Oh my, >> you know, it's too bad. Well, we got the names. We should give the names of these offensive linemen for uh North. >> Yeah. >> Well, let's wait until they get the ball back. >> Don't forget. >> Oh, I won't. They might get it back real soon. >> Nice high kick down to the 8 yd line. That's That's a nice kickoff. >> Pretty good coverage by North. >> And they tackle the return man at the uh 20 20 yd line. >> Hit about an 11 yd return. >> I see number 54 for South going out. He's playing both ways. Going back out is Austin Decker at quarterback. >> I think uh number 72 is playing both ways. That would be Xander Utman >> Junior. So we got big number 54 is out there. That's Gavin Vu. We saw him come in on defense. >> Right. >> Norris stacking up the middle. Three defensive linemen. >> I see that. And the Decker on the keeper >> picks up a couple. >> Play 31. >> 31. >> Second down for South. >> They had a pretty good push that time. >> Mhm. Yeah, they did. >> Oh my. >> Oh, right at the line of scrimmage >> making the stop for Shabboan North was number 58. Gary Babcock. >> I'm looking on the right right side. Number one's got single coverage. That's uh Ninaman. He's got single coverage out here. Quick slant or something. I think that's a possibility. >> Third down and about six. Two wide receivers off to the left for the Red Wings. Roll out by Decker. He's got his man. Good pass, >> Ninaman. >> Ninaman on the pass and catch for uh Nineman. That's his third reception of the year. >> Nicely run. >> Yeah, it's always kind of hard rolling left and throwing left, but that looked pretty good. >> Ball is out to the uh 38 yd line. >> It's about a 15 yd play. South may have to open it up a little bit. Marty, >> they haven't been able to run the ball much. >> And they got single coverage on Ninaman again. >> Pulls in in the back field. He's the upback looking to block. I think >> does throw a block, but uh that's going to be a loss for the uh south ball carrier. And >> that's probably going to be the end of the first quarter. That was uh >> Nvia Shrew Shrewsbury. >> Nothing doing for him. He actually lost yardage. Lost one. And uh clock rolling down. 10 seconds remaining in the quarter. >> Don't even run a play. It's like a free timeout. >> Yep. And uh that's going to do it. We're at the end of the first quarter with William North leading 14 to nothing. Let's go. >> Tonight's 50. >> And as flood waters continue to rise, thousands are left destitute. >> We already see major fire spread. >> Hundreds of homes have been destroyed by the wildfires which continue to blaze. >> The storm barreled ashore overnight, packing 130 mph winds. >> Utter devastation. They host Green Bay East. That'll be a 7:00 Friday game. We look forward to bringing that to you. Uh, By my information, Chris Wright should be back for that game. >> All right. >> Carry by uh Decker. >> Remember many, many years ago, Marty, when Green Bay East was a powerhouse. >> Oo. Who was the one wide receiver they had played in the Big 10? I think >> Pat Harrington. >> Pat Harrington. And I remember going over to North to watch him play and Ron Neman put a defensive back right up on the line of scrimmage >> and they blocked him every play. They wouldn't, you know, just let him give him a free release down the field. >> Yeah, that they also had a kid that played in the Big 10. His name was Randy Rose. >> Okay, that name doesn't ring a bell for me. >> That would have been in 70 and 71. >> Parker Ninan is a wide You can't see him. He's right underneath the South Banner at the bottom of your screen. He's the wide out on the left side. >> Oh, what's this? Just a delay of game. >> Delay a game again. This time it's on South >> of a break. >> Yeah, you got to have better than that. >> So far in the ball game, we've got three penalties on South and four on North. Uh not a good start in that regard. >> Another one. And we get timeout by South. They didn't like something obviously and are going to call a timeout. >> We uh did a basketball game a number of years ago and uh or maybe it was a football game >> and we got a program and at the bottom it had all the championships. This is a Green Bay West team >> strung out from like the 1940s up into the 60s, you know, all these conference championships and uh >> a powerhouse. Exactly. And uh you know, it's amazing how things change over time because it's not quite like that anymore. >> Well, Marty, the the mayor of Green Bay at that point was a guy named Henry Atkinson. >> Okay. >> And he had a brother that had a pipeline to the University of Nebraska. >> Seriously. >> Taggy. There's still a taggy that played at Nebraska a couple years ago as some kind of distant relative to Jerry. Dennis Goodsman, Dave Anderson, Jerry Taggy, and there was a kid that I played against, his name was Teeman, >> and they all had a they all had a connection to to go to Nebraska. >> And I mean, it just wasn't they weren't just there. I mean, they were there as players. They were they were good players. >> Decker dropping straight back, looking down deep. He's got a man open and a catch is made. >> What a catch and going for the touchdown. >> Oh, he's short. Five yd line. What a throw. What a nice throw. >> Nicholas Hildebrand on the catch. >> What a throw by Austin Decker. >> Well done. >> 61 yd play. >> Well done. going to be uh first and goal at the four yd line. >> North defense got beat on that play and it was a great throw right where it needed to be. >> Now punch it in. Punch it in. >> Shrewberry in the back field. >> Off tackle. Off tackle. Here it comes. Come on. >> Quarterback sneak. He's in. He's in. Touchdown. >> Good push up front. They grabbed the running back Shrewsbury and threw him back, but it was Decker that had the ball and he scored. >> Seemed like there was a fake and Decker followed the guy into the hole. >> All righty. South on the board. >> All right. Oh, we got the swinging gate here. I don't know why. >> Unless they're going for two here. >> Bad snap. And uh >> Oh jeez. >> Extra point is no good. >> Oh my. >> Well, they're on the board. Well, you know, like you do that and you're looking for something and if it's not there, then you just have them shift over and kick the extra point. >> You got to have execution on that. >> And they didn't have it. >> It's good to see South score, though. >> Yes. And it was a wonderful play. Boy, Scott, if you can cue that up, it'd be really nice to be able to see that play once more. South on the uh long pass and uh the score. Decker showed uh pizzazz on that drive. >> Probably threw the ball 35 yds in the air. 40. There it was. All right. >> Oh, right up the middle. >> Gone. >> Oh, >> and not able to keep his feet was uh Stewart. And another good tackle by Saul Leman. And I think some of that plays into his football. >> What's what's really impressive with with him running the triple option is the fact that he can go both ways either hand and you don't really you don't really know the difference. I played on the varsity three years and I wore the same pads every year >> and they were big. And look at this. >> Well, they weren't they weren't they were they had different sizes for the linemen in the backs. The backs were a little bit smaller, but I would say they were like this now. And and now we have a delay a game on South. Oh my. >> Uh this is not a good start for the Southside. >> When when you see old clips of NFL teams, you can tell the date just by looking at the pads. >> Yeah. Right. Decker uh rolling >> and uh can't get by the initial contact >> and uh picks up maybe a yard or two. Not much. >> I was just downstairs talking to his uncle. >> Now their roots uh happen to be insurg. >> Oh, okay. And >> he metriculated to the southside obviously. >> Well, this will be the third third generation now. >> All right. Second and about 13. >> Oh, he wasn't set. Jeez. >> And taken down in the back field. That stop was made by uh Gary Babcock. >> You hold him here, you'll get the ball at the 50, maybe even better. Yeah. >> It's going to be third down and 13. Ball spotted at about the sixyd line. It's uh South is uh had a good starting position, but it started on the return and then two more penalties after that. That's been a very bad start. >> It's hard to come back. >> Run the ball and get out of here. >> Bel gets by a couple of tacklers. Gets the ball away and uh see if they're going to give him the catch. Ball caught was made at the 16. I think he might have the first down. >> No, it's going to be fourth and six. Marty, >> fourth and six. Okay. >> Good job by Decker. at >> about the 50. >> But he is an elusive kid. He really is. >> I I thought that was going to be a safety. >> Catch is made at the 45. >> Nice decision by number 11 calling for that fair catch. Yeah, it was Jack Nudson, the uh honorable mentioned player. We've only seen him on defense tonight. Called his name a couple times. He's a good player. >> He's a junior, so that means he was all conference as a sophomore. >> That's correct. >> Same with that uh Adamovich kid who's not suited up tonight. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> That that's a that's a good Shabboan name, Adamich. >> You probably knew one. Well, Victor, Victor was a really all he was an allconerence player here at South. >> Uh we see him at least once or twice a year. He lives up in Apple. >> Retired teacher. >> Mhm. >> Inside hand off to Hine. And that time, uh making a good stop was Pzen, >> number six. >> That's that's the kid that I that I said was uh going to have a big night. He just looks like a player. I wish they had his size. >> Yeah, he's not a real big guy when you look at him compared to his teammates, but uh great play there. That's what they were lacking in the first half, >> right? >> Stopping the run. >> So, get these linemen to occupy linemen and have linebackers make the plays. That's what you want to get. >> Second down and eight. >> Fake fake handoff. And then uh >> getting dropped for a loss. Making the stop was Culp and Darien King. >> Nowhere to go to the short side. >> Third down. >> Going to be third and nine. >> So I'm noticing that North they they must have signs >> that that they call the plays from the sideline. There were a couple times I saw Ryland run over to the sideline, but uh you're maybe most of the time they do it the way you're mentioning. >> Bird dropping back, going deep. Catch is uh not made right through the hands of the receiver, Nehemiah Stewart. >> Good looking throw. Just just couldn't come up with the catch. >> He could pass defense, too. Stewart had a man right on him. >> Ninman. >> Ninman. Ninman is a good athlete. >> He's having a good night tonight offensively and defensively. >> And uh we talked about earlier, how many times did North punt in the first half? None. Looks like they're going to line up to punt here. >> You never know, Marty. >> It's at the what 44 yd line. >> A punt is not a guarantee. >> I think this might be uh >> this would be the safe play to punt it. >> Yeah. Oh, that way. I'm trying to think of who that punter was. >> Uh-oh. >> Ball is over his head. >> Run with it. Run with it. >> Oh my. >> Kick on the run is not going to go very far. And it's uh going to not be a very good play for North, but South is going to have great field position after this exchange. >> As soon as that punter becomes a runner, >> the kicker penalty is gone. Now it's out. >> Good to know that in >> case some of the North fans were complaining about the hit. >> Okay, it's going to be first down at the North 43 yd line for the Red Wings. They're in great field position. >> This is an opportunity right here. Four down territory. Move the ball. Positive yardage on every play. Wide out by us is going to be Parker Ninaman >> Decker on the handoff but hit in the back field was the running back Bel Bloom gets dropped at about the 45 >> Bel. Oh the tackler that I didn't see. >> Nice thick looked like 54 to me. >> Jaden Leon 6' 205. Yeah, was a great penetration. And uh you know, we had talked I talked about Velum. He never goes down on the first hit. That time he did. >> Second down and 12. >> Ninaman again, the wide out just a few yards from the sideline. >> Right up the middle and getting knocked down. Good job by the interior defense. Getting off the bottom of the pile for North was Sir Daren Robinson. Robinson 6 feet 200 lb. He's a senior. It's going to be uh >> third and 11. >> See what South has up their sleeve for this play. >> Now they have Ninaman lined up >> as a wide receiver instead of a back. >> The last play he was lined up in the back field although he was spread out. Now he's on the line. So that that tells me he's getting the ball. >> I believe the penalty is on South. They have 12 men on the field. >> Keep your eye on number one here. >> Moving Shrewberry to the left side of the quarterback. Good blocking by him. North has penetration and they get Decker at them about the 50 yd line. It's going to be a loss of a yard. >> Pun it. >> Get him back in the hole. >> That's too bad. That was a promising start. >> Hey, great field position. >> Y >> making a stop for North was Janikowski. We called his name. I I remember in the first half. >> Well, he starts on offense, too. He's Janowski. Oh, >> nice punt. Nice punt. That's going to go in the end zone. >> Get it. >> Oh, >> they get down. >> They're calling it a touchback. Oh my. >> In the end zone. >> That's a tough break for South. Great break for North. >> That That could have been at the one yard by >> No. And there's that guy again. We've called his name several times. Saul Leman. >> Good job by him. Yeah. >> Saul's dad, Jason, is a administrator downtown with the school district. >> I think he used to be at James Madison, right? >> Uh I know he >> was a he's a principal there. >> He was at Cooper for a while. I remember uh evaluating his teaching. I was his mentor teacher if you can believe that. >> And uh even even with that, he still turned out to be a great asset to the school district. >> Yes. >> There it is. >> Inside handoff. Oh. horse collar. >> Yeah. Well, he's barreling down the field. They just can't stop him. They've had that problem in the first half. Blaine Heinen. >> Watch this. >> See, here here's what I don't understand, Marty. So many times you have a good play >> and you don't want to run it again. >> Run it until they stop it. >> We have the Wide out to this side is Michael Kaquat. >> He had a catch in the first half. >> Hey, Kand Burr on the keeper. He's got some room to roam. He breaks through a couple of tacklers and he's getting forced out of bounds right at the 40 yd line. What a play. >> Got a key block by that wide receiver. I can't remember. I can't see his number. >> Number five, I think that was >> Ryder Miller. >> Ryder Miller. You think his dad's a golfer? >> Spelled the wrong way. >> That was about a 25 yd gain. >> Yep. Now we got a timeout south. Well, if you analyze the North offense, you know, they've been giving it to Heinen so much up the middle and all of a sudden you do a fake and it's so all of a sudden it's wide open on the outside 6' 180. >> He's only a sophomore. >> Yeah, pretty amazing. Now, over the first two games, uh, talking to a couple of people in the know, uh, Jack Nudson was the fullback for the first couple of games. And if you look at the stats for North, he actually led the team in carries. >> Okay. >> Uh, but they moved him off of that position strictly on defense tonight. And, uh, made a good decision with this Heinen kid. >> It's nice that you can do that. >> Yeah. Really, it's >> nice that you have depth that you can rotate back >> coming into tonight's game. Uh Nudson had 26 carries for 124 yards. Nine and seven carries for 23 yards. And uh so far I've got him for 12 carries for over 50 yards. >> Another play up the middle. Takes it down to the 35. >> Nice quick hitter. >> It's always best to have as few players as possible going both ways. >> Oh, isn't that the truth? I mean, if you could have 22 starters, wouldn't that be nice? >> But it doesn't work there. >> Well, you might have some unhappy parents. >> Play it right there. >> Kids not playing enough. >> No, but I mean, if you have 22 starters, >> Well, I I know exactly what you're saying. You're right. And that's how you'd like it to be. >> Well, it' be great. >> Fake handoff. Burr uh hit at the line of scrimmage, but able to lunge forward for two. >> Good defense by South. Usually usually at this the division one level it's it's you know it's almost common to have one or two kids go both ways but then the rest will play either O or D. >> Yeah. And and even some of your one-way players will still come in on the other side of the ball to help out. where where I was in a lot of the small schools, it's it's common to have two-way players. And and sometimes these kids never leave the field, especially if the game's close. >> We're in the third quarter. Clock is running. We're just under four minutes left. It's been a pretty quick quarter so far. A >> lot of run. >> Third down and about four yardds to go. >> Four down territory. Marty >> Stewart in motion. There's a little this direction >> and uh slipping through a couple of tacklers making a good run down to about the 16 yd line. >> What's this? We got a hole. >> We got a hole. >> Run was by Freework, but I don't think it's going to count. >> It's going to be uh ball's going to be back at the 45 yd line. >> Oh boy. >> Well done play though. >> Good execution. Good timing on that play too. you know, faking it off to the right side, coming back. >> A lot of times the second half you get a lot of misdirection. >> Yeah, it's on the charger. Charging. take handoff. Pass over the middle is caught by Stewart. He breaks one tackle. He's down inside the 5 yd line. >> What a nice pass. Nice catch. >> His first grab. 40 yd completion. >> The ball in his hands. Nice catch. >> Yeah, that battery on the DJI receiver. That thing will last a week. When the game's over, Marty, I'll bet you between these two teams, we'll have six 650 yards. >> It's going to be a lot. That's for sure. >> It's very entertaining. >> First and goal. >> There it is. Misdirection. >> Misdirection. Now he goes in. And no penalties. >> Oh, maybe there is a penalty. >> Freeward on the carry. >> They got illegal shift. >> Oh my goodness. Come on. >> Well, it's still a goal to go. >> Am I right? Yeah. >> Yeah. Yes. It'd be uh from about the eight or nine yd line. Both teams having trouble tonight with penalties. >> North with nine or 10. South has nine. Another one. >> Legal procedure. >> Uh, this is not good. I mean, >> at some point you think, don't they have to let some of that go? I mean, how how egregious is it? >> Well, of course, the players should know better, too. I guess >> if you and I can't see it, then it's not real obvious, but apparently we're not wearing the white hat. He did it again. >> Burr uh on the keeper. It's not going anywhere. >> Somebody's giving them the Bronx cheer. A play was run without a penalty. >> Who's the kid that caught that pass that you almost scored? Who was that? >> Uh Nehemiah Stewart. 63 200. Boy, I' I'd look for him again right now. >> There he is. >> Fake looking down the middle. >> Led him just a little too far. He couldn't quite catch up to it. And >> all of a sudden, we're sitting at third down and the ball is spotted on the 12 yd line. >> North did have it first and goal on about the four. They they do have a field goal kicker. >> That'll help. Burr looking over the middle. He's got a man. Can he get in? >> Nope. >> Pulled back. He had a one of his teammates grabbing his jersey and trying to pull him forward. >> No, that that would be a penalty. The pass completion went to uh >> Kaquades for Mike. That was his uh second catch of the game. Make it his first catch of the game. player down. I think it was a cramp. >> Well, it is fourth. >> Do you you kick a field goal almost like a guaranteed three >> or do you go for six? And they're at the what? The two yard line. >> I'm sorry. It's only third down. >> Third down. >> Only third down. >> They haven't updated the uh scoreboard yet. The ball looks like it's at about the seven. >> So many penalties. Hard to keep track of the downs. >> That is man over the middle. They're saying incomplete pass. Oh, look. Look, look at the official over there. He said no touchdown. >> They're going to have to talk this over. >> Now they're going to confer. They're going to say incomplete pass. >> Oh, and fortunate for North, but they had their chances. They blew it >> with the penalties. >> Kick the field goal. Give Give your kicker a shot here. Come on. >> There you go. >> They are going to make the uh change and go for uh the field goal. It's a good kicker. >> The shot. >> Brody Conrad coming out. >> It's pretty much a chip shot for him. >> You would think >> Burr on the hold. >> Good snap and set. >> Oh, he shanked it. I think >> kick is good. >> Field goal for North. >> Boy, that was a line shot, wasn't it? >> Kick is good. with 36 left in the third quarter. >> Nice to see field goals in high school once in a while. >> Yeah, that's something you don't see very often. That's for sure. >> Oh, you don't you don't see it often at all. Just like you don't see many touchbacks are sponsors. >> Yeah, you just Orthodontis County. I remember we did a playoff game. This is pretty long ago. South had a really nice team. >> Was that against Nina? >> I believe it was Nina here. And Dave Feifer, the head coach at the time, was masterful at that last drive and working the clock, getting it down. They were inside the 10 yardd line. I believe >> the kid missed the field. >> Kid missed the field. Went right underneath it. It was between the crossbarss but underneath. >> I I remember. And uh it was really an unfortunate loss uh for South. A great job of coaching by Dave and great playing by his team. >> Was it like 9 to7? >> I believe it was a little higher scoring than that, but I don't know for sure. But it was a great game to call. >> Unfortunate ending, however. >> And that that was a playoff game, right? >> Yes, it was. >> Yeah. >> Line drive kick. >> Hard to handle. picked up at the five trying to weave his way through as the return man that was uh brought back by Parker Miniman. >> We've called his name quite a few times tonight. >> Yes. Come on, boy. Go >> hand off inside of trying to pick up yardage was the running back. >> Cruzberry. Got it up to about the uh 24. >> Nice tackle by Darien Robinson. He put his shoulder in there. Nice nice form tackle. >> Second down and six. Decker on the keeper right up the middle >> trying to push the pile. He's got the first down. >> First down. >> Give it out to the 31. Good job by Austin. >> He's played a nice game. >> Decker with 46 yds rushing on 10 carries. His first carry was his longest. He had a 14 y. >> Decker keeps it. Bouncing out >> but can't get it offside. Pretty good outside. >> Positive yards. Positive yards. >> Jack Kudson in there on the stop. >> Pick up of about three that time. South looking to get something going here in a second here. They're not they're not going to get this off >> just in time. >> Deep throw. Ball slipped out of the hand out of uh Decker and it goes incomplete. >> You know, Marty, you hit it right on the head. The ball slipped out of his hand. There's no wind. There's a heavy duty. >> I bet that ball is slippery. >> Exactly. >> It's hard to throw unless you have big hands, especially when it's wet. >> All right, South. Come on. Let's get something going here. You must be doing jumper route. >> Yeah, it can get shaky up here, that's for sure. >> The leading ball carrier in the game tonight is uh Shboen Norse Blaine Hein. He has uh 86 yards and 10 carries. >> Hard yards, too. >> Yes. Uh his long run was a 25 y. He also has a 10, pardon me, a 12 and a 11 yd run. >> It's been a load. Yes, he has. >> Leading rusher for South is uh the quarterback >> Austin Decker. He's got 49 yardds in 11 carries. >> Oh no. What's this? We got a timeout. Morris. >> Oh, >> at the end of a quarter. You think you'd have it pretty much together, right? You want to call a timeout now. >> Maybe he's got the wrong personnel on the field. I don't know. But it it does not make a whole lot of sense. All right, let's give you a little update on uh our schedule >> TV8. Our next game is next Friday >> when Green Bay East comes to Shabboan North. >> Our next South game is the Thursday after that when Manito comes to down on the 17th. That's a Thursday. It was about a sevenyd pickup. >> I think it was 20. >> Number 20 with a seveny. >> Shrewberry. >> Yep. We'll give it to him. >> So fourth down and they're going for it. You almost have to. >> Oh, and then I got a bad snap. Nope. >> And wide right. >> Long enough. >> Yeah, quite a kick. >> Nice kick. >> We have 916 remaining in the ball game. It's uh North on top 31-2. Hey, that's a weapon. You know, if you can keep the game close and get into a position like that, he can clearly kick it far enough. >> They'll probably have games down the line that'll be close. You'll have to have some kind of a kicking machine. >> He He looks pretty good to me. >> Junior, that ball over there. >> Fumble. Another bad snap. >> Ball's wet. >> Come on, man. I think all these guys are one-hand snappers. I don't suspect they're going to change that too much. Um the problem with uh North, they've had they had a great opportunity at one possession down at the North end zone. >> Yeah. >> 5 yd line, first and goal, >> and they ran their last play from what the 12 or the 17 >> because of penalties. >> Just run the ball off tackle. Hopefully he'll be okay. >> By the way, uh you've been uh touting Ryland Burr. That was a good throw right there. >> Yeah. >> Well, you know, there's like like you said earlier, Marty, there's uh there's a lot of good athletes on both sides of the ball. Both both teams have some real nice athletes. >> Timeout on the field as you can see. North on top. They've led the entire ball game. Mix be disappoint. >> South was in pretty good shape going into the end of the first half, but then uh North was able to put a score on the board right with seconds remaining. >> Y >> and uh that changed the complexion of the game somewhat. >> Oh yeah. What a run by Stewart. 18 yder >> bounced off three guys on the way to the end >> that would uh officially make it a blowout now. >> Yeah, I guess. >> I thought I thought a blowout had to be 35 points. Well, I don't mean it in regards to running clock kind of situation. I'm just saying. >> Yeah. >> Look at his kicker. I like how he kicks. >> Have you seen a straighton kicker in the last 10 years, Marty? >> Not in a level that counts. >> 10 years ago, that's all you would see. >> And guys would wear a square toe, >> right? Dempsey >> comes to mind. >> But you know that soccer soccer style kick is much more effective. Much uh longer. >> Much longer. And you can get it higher too I think. >> Yeah. Right. Scooping that ball off the grass. We have uh 258 left. Shboan North is way up 38-2. South gave it a good goal but uh just didn't have enough. Well, you know, if if they stay healthy, I I think they can win some games this year. >> We saw that Decker can throw the ball pretty good and he's got some good receivers and Ninaman, of course, is one of them that stands out along with Nicholas Hildebrand. And uh they have some running backs that uh Eli Velum was pretty elusive most of the game. Speaking of Eli, he's back to return. >> He's a He's a sophomore, too. >> Yeah, >> nice kickoff. Look at he's down to the 8 yd line is going to get stopped right about the 20. Getting off the bottom of the pile for uh the Golden Raiders is James Kryzen. And there goes number 54. They've run the ball a lot. Claybourne fires a shot right into the midsection of Ninaman and he dropped it. >> Good looking throw. Just couldn't hang on. >> Nineman wants that one back. >> Yeah, I bet he does. >> Got trips to the left. Three wide receivers. The inside receiver >> is uh Ethan Blanchett. He has not caught a pass tonight, but he's going to get one a chance right there. Makes a good catch. Runs it up the field and he's uh knocked down at about the uh 25. >> And he's get he's getting up slow, Marty, but he's he's getting up. >> He took a shot, that's for sure. >> Good job, Nick. >> That's why you wear all those pads, right? So you can take a shot. Then the shot to the head. Still not enough padding. >> Well, I I actually talked to somebody two weeks ago about the cost of helmets. >> What are they like 3400 a piece now? >> Uh 3 320 >> and and that's for a good ryel. >> Yeah. >> It's not a cheap sport, that's for sure. Time out south. >> You know, there are other helmets. >> There are other brands and they're lesser lesser priced. But >> how do you explain to a parent his kid gets a concussion? Yeah. Your your kid was wearing the crummy helmet. That's that doesn't work. >> So when you were uh purchasing equipment out at Valders when you're coaching, did you buy, >> let's just say, all your helmets from the same company? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So in that instance, that shouldn't come into play. We we had uh many years ago we had 92 kids out for football and we were short on helmets, you know, because you have to size them. You just can't throw >> helmet. Yeah, exactly. >> And I went to the superintendent and I said, "Hey, I need about 15 helmets." Oh, you know, I gave you all this grief. Finally, I said, "Hey, you you can talk to the parent when the kid gets a concussion." >> You didn't have leather at that time, did you? >> No. No. This Oh, look at this. Clayton gets sacked. >> Is that the practice? >> Yes. And then a penalty at the end. I don't get what probably celebrating. It's going to be unsportsmanlike conduct. >> Yeah, you're right. >> No, it's I I I find it I find it very hard to understand how these small school districts can afford football. It's become so expensive. >> Yeah, there's going to be unsportsmanlike on Louis Vang number 10. Little too much celebrating. And I think right after he did it, he realized shouldn't do that. >> But he's a he's a big a big freshman. >> Yes, he is. >> Quick grab. Couldn't get it. Good adjustment made out there on the wide side and a great catch made by Jeremiah Appleton. His first catch of the ball game and boy, he made a good adjustment on that throw. Sure did. Sure did. >> We got a face mask. It's going to be added on to the >> It's going to be added on to the play. So, you're going to be first and goal, I think, down here. about a 40 yd catch. >> Yeah, it's nice. Good. Good to see that. >> Appleton number eight making the catch. >> So, they had a face mask penalty added on to the play. So, wow. Looks like it's at about the seven maybe. >> Clayton jumping around there trying to avoid tacklers and uh maybe picked up a yard. >> Good uh good job by him. >> A freshman. That's uh that's not real common at the >> No, definitely not. South has had some big plays tonight. They had that 60 y and now this uh 40 y. >> So I I I think there's potential. >> Yes. >> You know there there is some potential here. >> Good pressure. Pass is incomplete. not caught. >> Clayton with a good job. He was under pressure and was able to get it out to his receiver just a little bit short. But uh a great effort by him. One minute remaining in the ball game. So second down and five. Ball spotted on the sixyd line. Willie Bloom Willis number 77 is at uh >> left guard. >> Watch Ninaman flip to the right >> and be able to get the ball away was Claybornne, but he was under pressure >> right from the start. They're >> going to throw a flag on that. I guess not. >> It's a great effort by uh Cade. >> Very good effort. And on the pressure that time was Tanner Teagel. >> That'd be Trevor's boy. >> Yep. Trevor uh guidance council over at North High. >> Yeah, I think I think his boy is a sophomore. >> I can check that out. Yes, he is. They got him listed as quarterback and linebacker. >> Yeah. >> Well, you you have to play multiple positions in high school. >> I got my eye on number 54 right now. I I think he's played a heck of a game. >> Good crossing pattern. The catch is made. >> And can he get in? >> They're calling him down short. I can't believe it. Oh my. >> Good catch. Good effort by Hildebrand. >> And and that was fourth down. >> That's too bad. >> Take a knee, Norris. Hild Debran has four catches tonight for uh 77 yardds. He had that uh 61 y. >> Yeah, it's a good night. >> Yeah, very good. >> And uh >> well, Marty, before the game end >> Claybourne, I was going to say, was you're three for seven passing, which isn't too bad considering. But uh go ahead. Uh well, before the game ends, I'd just like to say thanks for letting me do this and uh thanks for helping out. >> Yeah, I I I really enjoyed it. >> Yeah, thank you. I appreciate that. >> You you get a whole new perspective when you're in the press box than when you're down on the field. >> Oh, I know. When you spent how many years coaching high school football? >> Yeah, pretty many. >> That could be the last play if the uh officials do it right. >> Yeah, let's see when they blow it in. >> Yep. I think they're going to blow it in right right now. So, the game's over. >> Clock is running. There's 20 seconds left. >> They're not going to run. >> Neither team looks like they're very excited to run another play. It's been a entertaining game. We've saw seen a lot of good That's mine. >> Seen a lot of good athletes out there. And uh Wade, your expertise was awesome. I know when we talked on the phone about coming over, he said, "Geez, I haven't coached football in so long. I don't think I know anything anymore. You know a whole lot. >> Well, you know, when you do it for 36 years, you just kind of kind of keep it. >> Yeah, I hear you. I hear you. >> All right. >> All righty. With that, Shabboan North a winner 38-12. They go 1 and0 in conference. South 0 and1 and North is now 2-1 on the year. South 0 and3. Thanks a lot, Wade. Take care. And uh with that uh we mentioned this several times. I want to mention one more time. Our next game will be next Friday when Green Bay East comes to town to play Shabboan North. We look forward to uh >> bringing you that game for the crew and my partner Wade Rickmire. I'm Mike Martin saying thanks for watching everybody and we'll see you down the road.
