Video summary
The video documents a much-anticipated return to skating at Fallbrook skatepark after a hiatus of about three weeks, marking the creator's first proper session since focusing on mini ramps previously. Upon arriving, he is joined by his friend Spencer, and they take a moment to enjoy some high-quality coffee before diving into the action. A significant highlight of this session is the introduction of a new pair of S shoes provided by Spencer, which feature a unique blend of athletic durability and skateability. These shoes incorporate Kevlar woven fabric for exceptional toughness while remaining lightweight, offering a canvas-like feel that the creator finds comfortable and forgiving for walking around or chilling, yet robust enough to withstand the rigors of skating.
Once on the board, the creator decides to focus on a specific ledge feature he has been hesitant to use due to his legs feeling "non-skaty" after the break. He attempts several frontside 50-50 grinds and works on executing front tail slides, initially struggling with confidence and form as he tries to adjust his weight distribution. Early attempts result in some humorous bails, including a fall where he gets tossed around like a frisbee and smacks his cheek on the bank, but he persists through trial and error. He discovers that keeping his knees bent and using the inside of his foot to press against the side of the ledge helps him lock into the grind more securely, turning what was once a scary obstacle into a manageable trick as he gains rhythm and confidence.
Throughout the session, the creator reflects on the nature of skateboarding skills, noting how quickly they can deteriorate without regular practice, describing it as a perishable ability that fades rapidly if not actively maintained. He shares personal anecdotes about learning tricks in his youth, including painful head injuries from early attempts at front tails, and discusses the mental challenge of overcoming fear and hesitation when returning to skating after a long absence. Despite some frustration with leaving tricks incomplete or feeling uncoordinated initially, he views the session as a valuable progression opportunity that reinforces the importance of staying active on the board, even if just rolling around casually, to keep skills sharp.
The video concludes with the creator heading home, visibly tired but satisfied with the experience despite his eyes being irritated by the bright Southern California sun. He wraps up by promoting a sale on hats at his website, offering free stickers with every order while trying to clear inventory before an upcoming summer drop. He expresses genuine excitement about his new S shoes and invites viewers to see an unboxing video in the future, encouraging new subscribers to follow his journey on social media. Overall, the session serves as both a technical workout and a nostalgic reminder of the dedication required to maintain skateboarding proficiency, blending humor, personal growth, and community engagement into a relatable narrative for fellow skaters.

So, I just pulled up to Fallbrook right
now. It's been a minute. Spencers just
pulled up next to me here.
On the show I brought my shaped board
and I brought my normal board, too. So,
it's been like at least a month since
I've had a proper skate session that
wasn't like a mini ramp sesh. So, yeah,
pretty keen for this. I got my coffee.
If anyone
is into coffee, you need to try this
spot in Fallbrook. I think it's called
Fallbrook Coffee Company, but really
really good coffee. So, my boy Spencer
here was kind enough to hook me up with
some S's, the Emergence. They're pretty
weird. It's a very unique S shoe.
>> Yeah, these are my first This will be my
first pair of S's, so
wow, look at that.
Dude, thank you.
>> These are like These are like sick, just
aesthetically sick for like chilling and
like just walking around and stuff.
>> It's trainer outdoory outdoors meets,
you know, athletic but then skateable
cuz it still has the same like ins- or
like out- outsole as TJ Rogers shoe. Oh,
it does, doesn't it?
>> Yeah, you can definitely tell it's
actually really comfortable.
>> Yeah.
>> And then this is kind of nice just cuz
it is kind of nice and loose and just
forgiving.
I mean, it's it's a really cool shoe.
Just even look at the toe cap, though.
>> Yeah. Even imagine trying to like blow
through that in skating. That'll last
forever. I feel like S are like techy
now. So much technology going on with S.
>> I do like that. Yeah, they have brought
a lot of like tech to some like even
this is a for example. Old shoe, new
tech with the Yeah.
Is that Kevlar?
>> Yeah. So, you could shoot this. Yeah.
Yeah, it'd be good.
>> You got bulletproof shoes, dude.
>> like [laughter] the
Pro Club of Damn, yeah, literally Pro
Club. It's crazy though, too, cuz it's
actually pretty lightweight. Yeah,
that's actually insane. Cuz it's
Kevlar's like woven fabric that's like
really strong.
>> Exactly. So, like even I was saying it's
almost like a really gnarly super duty
canvas. Yeah. Yeah, it feels canvasy.
And I do like how canvas does skate cuz
I was a big canvas slip-on person back
in the day.
So, I feel like I'm curious to see how
this is going to skate.
It looks tough, though. Yeah, I didn't
notice till you took it off, but
>> It looks super tough. It's like subtle,
but tough. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
>> Man, I'm hyped. Honestly, thank you so
much.
>> Yeah, of course. I can't wait to see you
like just kick it skating them. See what
you do.
>> Yeah, yeah. Shout out to what's her name
again? S? Fred. Fred. Shout out to Fred.
We're going to play with this feature
today. I haven't really gotten much on
this ever since coming to this park, but
since my legs are a bit non-skaty right
now, I thought it would be a good idea
to take advantage of the bump onto the
ledge, so I'm just going to get some
like frontside 50-50s and feel it out,
maybe get a front tail, and then a a
crooked grind coming this way on it.
See how we go. I don't know why that
ledge over there that we skate all the
time. Like it's a good ledge, don't get
me wrong, but like
I'm always battling it because I don't
skate for a while, then I come and skate
on the session, try to jump on that
ledge, and it's like
it's not like super tall, but it's like
a little tall.
It is. It's definitely not small. Yeah,
but maybe I'm being a baby about it.
>> No, you're not.
>> And I have long legs, but what I was
what I was noticing was like I would
like bend my knees, pop, but then I like
straighten my legs out in the air out of
fear. It's like you got to keep your
knees bent and like ready to pop.
I don't feel like all my I wasn't locked
in all the way. No, really. Is this
still really buttery? He waxed it nice
earlier.
Yeah.
You can definitely feel when you're in
that pocket on your truck.
That's what makes it sketchy like
locking in not all the way cuz then you
get this going.
Like you want to be here.
I want to get a few more of these, and
then I'll try to get a front tail, but
I'm going to do the front tail like
get in, get out quick, and then see if I
can just slowly make my way to the bank
and see what happens.
I mean, ideally I'd like to go off the
end, but that's like big boy business,
you know? I mean, you're a big boy. I
think you can handle it.
>> dude.
But I'm I'm a little scared inside. It's
got a little bit of tail like confidence
dog, you chilling.
And I just but I did one earlier just
like mocking around.
And the tail went to fakie, and then I
couldn't get my feet off the board. I
got stuck, and it's like it like threw
me around like a frisbee and like I
smacked my ass cheek on the bank.
Little bruisal. Oh.
Be a mix thing we coming through. All
right.
Some 50s and we'll throw some tails on.
I was actually you can see the marks
actually on your shirt. Yeah, see? He's
not lying.
>> No. He he said That's the that's the
side of the ledge there. I did like a
frisbee on the ground.
>> It was pretty crazy. I know, but he was
as soon as Sean falls he was I wish we
had that on film.
Cuz [laughter] it was a good it was a
good bail. It was a good slam. It was a
good slam.
If I go to do a switch back nose slide,
I'm in that all the way. But for some
reason coming up and over onto the tail,
it puts me in this weird space where I'm
like not sure where to put my weight.
So, we got to figure it out. I feel like
the using the bank to it kind of helps
you like level up and adjust to it.
>> Yeah, 100%.
Oh.
How I learned this trick? I was like
12, 13. Uh-huh. And I had a wooden
pallet in the back of my house. And the
driveway was a little slanted. I waxed
the guts out of the side of this wooden
pallet. It was all gnarly, had all
splinters and [ __ ] And I that's how I
learned to front tail cuz of Reynolds. I
seen Reynolds doing mad front tails.
Back when like black skinny jeans, like
super tight and I remember I remember
coming up this way and like smacking my
head so hard on the ground as a child it
like hurt. Like I thought I was going to
die, dude.
Dude, that's not chill. I was so young
and like like my mom was in the house so
like nobody would have found me.
>> [laughter]
>> Cuz you want a little heel on it. You
want a little heel, but not a ton. I see
fools and they're like back here and it
looks so comfy when they just sit in it
and they're just here. It's a drag heel.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can do that
though, too. You got to go fast, you
know. Okay. So, it's like that's the
thing with the heel drag or not, you
know what I mean? If you're going to
start dragging, you're going to do a
little faster. So, I got to stay in I'm
trying to do
>> pressure on the toes, so you kind of
like push through the slide.
You know, lean [laughter] forward.
THAT WAS NO CONTROL. BUT, STILL YOU WENT
pretty far. Yeah, but I fell out like a
little
>> but still but still I'm just saying Like
a little boy, I fell out. Yeah, all
right. So, I'm telling I'm I'm telling
Sean right now to use like the inside of
your foot right here and just push
against the side of your shoe cuz you
want to lock all the way into that
ledge, kind of like an nose slide. Cuz
when I I always hate when I front tail
and my board is like this. So gross. A
little droopy.
>> Trying to be on it. Yeah. Like a jam
that thing up in there. Yeah, so
Oh my god. Ooh. Front lip and then put
your tail in, but then when I got my
tail in, my shoulders are already too
turned.
>> Turned. Yeah. Yeah, hold that core when
you're in there. I think that is No,
really though. Yeah. Core strength.
And then stay
stay loose. Squatty party, brother.
>> Because it's like a low ledge, you you
don't think you need to bend your legs
that much, but
>> I think that's yeah, very deceiving. You
still need to
>> 100% yeah.
>> Almost more cuz it's lower. Yeah.
Literally.
That was solid.
Yeah, that's all right. It's distance
wise, it's not Dan always says slide
till you stop.
And I get that.
And me getting in and out quickly, I'm
like not allowing my legs really stay
seated on the ledge.
>> cuz you could definitely cuz you're
going pretty quick into it. I
I think you could slide away further,
too.
Oh, you know cuz that was almost the
whole thing. I held it. I went to pop
out, but
I don't know what I was doing wrong.
Like I was falling I kind of I kind of
get like I was like I think your wheel
honestly you were leaning forward and
your wheel got caught. I think that's
what happened. I think that's what
happened.
Ooh.
I felt like on that one
I held it super close to the ledge, but
I still have it have it to hear it.
Yeah, you did Yeah, that was chill. I
honestly thought you were going to go
like the whole thing. Me, too. I think I
hopped out once I felt my weight come
out of the sweet spot. The little
jerkiness. Getting some beef jerky.
But see you slid to like you stopped.
Yeah, I slid to like I stopped then I
hopped out. That was a good you know
like how That's actually a good habit to
like practice on the slide to you stop.
But I felt like my
my arms and my shoulders ultimately gave
way to me getting out.
Yeah, but it's good practice I reckon
like Dan was saying like just to even
practice the body sitting in there Yeah,
yeah, yeah. Getting comfy with it.
Oh.
>> dragged and it stopped me.
>> I heard a little squeaker.
It's like getting away from me.
It's looking more confident though.
Come on, son of a gun.
knocks You can't tell I cased, but I
cased. I know.
Did I come in?
>> so chill though. Yeah, I think
what's really helping me is like
thinking of it up and over and place it
in like a front lip cuz I always think
of front tails like get in as quick as
you possible, but it's It's a delayed
turn up, kind of.
I'm not checking out.
Tail slide big spin? It's not good.
I'm not in it.
That sucks about having
ADHD. It's like
once you get once the dopamine runs out
on something,
you're just like forcing yourself to do
it. Yeah. Last good session I had was on
the shaped board on the mini lake a
month ago, you know?
Granted, we didn't I didn't skate much
in Georgia at all, so just coming back.
I'm going to
play it safe and take what I can get
because If anything, it was a good
progression session cuz like I feel like
your tail slide, I feel like even
learning and kind of pushing the you
know, your foot into the ledge more.
Like you look so much more confident
doing them than when you did earlier, so
Yeah, and what Spencer said about like
pushing the side of your foot into the
ledge. No one's ever told me that about
a front tail before. Which is weird cuz
on a nose slide, that's what I'm
actively pressing for. It's feeling my
foot up against the side of my shoe cuz
I know the press the pressure's all the
way in, but it makes so much sense with
the front tail as well.
But
Hey, you learn. You live and you learn.
You do. But it doesn't it suck when you
like leave a session, you don't get
much?
>> I know. I know. I know you can't
>> to take it, dude.
>> Yeah, you have to accept it sometimes.
It'd be like that. And like you can't
get I used to get super bummed out and
just like put all myself worth into my
my skating ability, but skating is like
a perishable skill. If you don't keep at
it, it goes away. And quick. Very
quickly.
>> It's kind of crazy. Yeah, it happens
very quickly.
>> I don't know if it's like when you're
older, it goes away faster or something.
I don't know. I think it's just yeah,
just
being actively on your board all the
time.
But Even just pushing around skating to
like
>> Yeah. wherever makes such a big
difference throughout the week.
>> I don't do that. Like I literally skate
at the park or at the spot. I don't
skate to like I'm going to go just roll
on my board. Yeah. You do like you know,
exactly. Just to like the candy store.
>> basically, dude. That's what I am, a
poser.
Cuz yeah, even just skating to the local
Sevi or something is like good
sometimes. Exactly, dude. Just keeps you
on your board. Oh, well.
Hey.
Thank you for being here.
>> Progression session, at least. Hey.
You know.
I can't be too bummed. It's It's nice
outside. I'm outside skating with my
friends, you know. Hey, hey. It's your
first day back since My first day back
skating properly since It's been 3 weeks
or something since we skated last. So,
that's kind of a long time, dude.
>> [music]
>> So, I'm back home off the session right
now. My eyes actually like hurting heaps
because it's so bright out there in the
summertime or coming towards summer in

glassy and red, but it's just super
bright out here. If you guys didn't
