I think there was loads of changes and Coleman was playing left back and stuff like that. >> I don't know. It felt at the time like last this time last season like everything weren't really up to gear like we had a bit more of a slower start going into the season. you see like leads and stuff and >> maybe that like passed over into >> then we beat Wolves before this you know everyone was bullied after that weren't they but >> yeah but I don't I don't know hopefully I mean I think it will be different but >> yeah I think the situ maybe the situation bit the group are a bit more together now and obviously because it is smaller numbers there isn't as much room to sort of switch the team around like we did last year so hopefully you know it's very much a similar team that we saw on the weekend that we'll see against IP switch and you know they just get it done ultimately done. I mean, this is an important trophy for Everton. We've never won it. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> You know, we've Wolves have won it. Actually, Andy Gray Andy Gray short the winner. Um, we've never won it. We've we've had two defeats in finals. We've had a number of semifinals and never been able to do it. But Evertonians will look at this and go, it's what is it? It five games you have to win or something. Six games you have to win and you're in Europe. Now I know in general this trophy's been dominated by the rich teams again in recent times. >> Yeah. >> But we did see and again rich but you know we did see Newcastle who beat Liverpool in the final and stuff end their trophy drought with it. But I think for Everton and for Evertonians, it's we need to have a right good go at it because, you know, you can be in Europe by the end of February, early March. I haven't looked when the final is. Never need to know normally when the final is, but you know what I mean. >> But obviously it's one game at a time. If Everton can get past Wolves tomorrow and then get another home draw before you know it, you know, you're in a quarterfinal and anything can sort of happen then. So it is a game Everton do have to take seriously. But for you, is this a trophy Everton should be going all out to win? >> Yeah, I think I I say that out to every trophy. You know, I've not seen everyone trophy. But I think ultimately we're as you said, you know, it's five or six games and it's oneoff games against, >> you know, like potentially the big six is what you sort of the worry would be. But I think on Everton's day, and I think we shown this last season, >> these like bigger teams, you look at like Arsenal, like City and stuff, >> I think although we didn't beat them last season, we made them uncomfortable at times. You know, City, we went >> should have beat >> we should have we should have beat them. Arsenal at home, you know, they we should have had a penalty and they got like a a dodgy penalty to beat us and even away from home, we lo and it was 2-0, but it didn't really tell the full picture of the game. You know, Everton had really good chances and they had like a lucky one at the end. So I think on Everton's day they can with with this team now and having you like Jack Gish and like Juice B and stuff who can you know just pull out them moments out of nowhere. Everton can take a game to anyone. So them these one-off games I'm not really worried about. I think even this season we shown it with like Man United you scoring the last the last kick of the game basically. You know Spurs you know we haven't got a good record there but still getting a nil nil and even with Bournemouth. >> So I think you know this Everton team has got a bit of a never like die attitude haven't he? And this this cup's like a perfect opportunity. And you know, if David Moyes like last season where our squad sort of derailed a bit towards the end of the season because you know fatigue or whatever, David Moyes thinks he has got a small squad this is a perfect chance to get Europe without you know having to worry about you know the whole of the season like sort of organizing people's time. So I think it's a great opportunity and Ev should be going all out for it. >> Yeah, I think I agree. You'd always look at it and you'd always think, well, we got one of the rich six away. >> Yeah. >> And obviously one of those rich six are going out cuz Liverpool are playing Tottenham at time recording. They haven't played. So, one of them will be out the way. Them kind of things. You think it'll be really difficult, but you don't know how it all works out. >> We could have a really lucky covering. You know, we could get past Wolves and there's still a couple of lower league teams and you could get one of them again at home and you're in then all of a sudden you're thinking we're in a quarters here and get a home draw in the quarters and you know things go your way. So >> doesn't always play out like that. Of course, Everton tend to end up with one of the bigger teams, you know, in this cup. But listen, there's no excuse tomorrow night and Everton have got to go out give Wol. Wolves are doing really well in the Championship. Obviously won again at the weekend. Ral Gimenez with a late winner, you know, and he's done well against Everton over the years, and we've got to give Wolves the respect they deserve. But their for them, their main goal will obviously be getting promoted back to the Premier League, and that's certainly where all their efforts will be. And from our perspective, this should be a chance to get a home win build up for Saturday. Obviously, Everton have got two big home games this week, this being the first of the two. I think Everton will go in expecting the team to perform tomorrow and it's a good opportunity for the manager to to maybe make a couple of change. I mean, how many changes are you expecting? Cuz we were at Preston in the last round and he he went quite strong the manager, didn't he? And obviously with Jordan Pigford in goal are you expecting Pigford to be in goal again tomorrow or do you think he'll play Mark Travis? >> I think I think he should play Pikford. I don't think it's like a game where don't know like I think Mark Travis last year people were very critical of anyway but I think the trophy as we were just speaking about it's so important that Evan do get like that next bit you know give themselves a really good chance to win I think you've got to put your strongest at least your strongest goalie but also a fairly decent lineup because as you said Wolves the majority of this team were playing Premier League last season they had a good start to the season and stuff so for me other players like that I always want to see is players like Jake O'Brien You know, I think Tyler Diblin maybe, but I can understand why he wouldn't just at the minute. But besides that, I think I keep it fairly the same as what it was against Spurs. >> Interesting. Interesting. Cuz I when I look at it, I think he will make changes. I think the the goalie, you're right. Yeah. I'd leave Jordan in. >> I think he'll change both center backs. I think he'll be keen on O'Brien for game time because I think he'll be conscious of maybe giving Bran another little bit of a although Jared said at the weekend he expects to be involved but that might be on the bench this time he wasn't even in the squad at Preston was he? >> So I can see him maybe playing O'Brien and Keane to get the minutes in their legs. Obviously can't make any changes at left back because we haven't got another one. I think Maitlin Niles will play again at right back because I think he'll want to get minutes into his legs. retired, didn't he, at Tottenham at the weekend? >> Then you go into midfield and he can make a change there cuz obviously Hayden Hackne should play >> and obviously he's got Charlie Alcaras so he could drop drop but take Jbury Hall out you know and have Alcaras there. So he you know I could see a midfield where he's got Ghana Aiden Hackne and Alcarz and Armstrong and and J Baller on the bench. Does he want to play Jack Eish for an hour to get minutes into his legs or is he just keeping him for the weekend? >> That's an interesting one. >> Tyler Dibling would have to play, I would suggest. Yeah, >> cuz you got to give him if he's not going to get any minutes in this one or he's getting 30 minutes as a sub. Is it better not to give him a start? So maybe he'll he'll have a toss up between though that since the last Carabell Cup game, Tas. >> Yeah, of course. I think that's sort of >> but at some stage the manager's got to give him minutes and that's I I agree with what [clears throat] you're saying but I think when you're looking at it you'd be backing them would you not against the championship side you know can he do it >> and that then the question becomes is it ti or is it Jack Elish >> that's the question isn't it and then up front I think he might he he should go with Barry because he should be trying to create goals for Barry and chances but he might start Brennan Johnson have a look how he looks through the middle to give Barry a little bit of a break and sort to bring him on. So, there's a couple of decisions there. You don't want to make too many changes obviously, which is why I think I'd leave the goalie in, but I can see probably four changes to the team that drew at Tottenham at the weekend. >> I I as you said, yeah, I think Dibland's a weird one at the minute just purely the fact of I thought he he looked decent in preseason, but he had moments obviously where you could see, you know, maybe a lack of confidence or whatever. And then against Preston, don't really think he tore it up like maybe was expecting to. >> So I think maybe maybe I you're right in saying that he probably should start because if he doesn't start this game then when does he ever get minutes forever because they're not going to face necessarily a weaker team. >> I think Gish will probably will start. Do you think >> just because um cuz David Moyes it was I thought he was going to start the last game after what David Moyes said this press conference saying you know he's better with like a ball at his feet and you know he's came back way fit already and stuff >> and obviously he played a little bit for City too before he came to Everton. >> So I can see them two. I don't think Alcaz will start. I just I don't know. I think it's a weird one with Alcaraz because unlike Diblin I feel like he has sort of been ripped off entirely. He like >> he's had a few minutes though. He come on against United didn't he and he come on >> but he's coming on for like the last few minutes. >> He's not getting like long like when Moyes first came in and he had that like little run where he got like the goal at Newcastle and stuff. >> He looked like he's going to kick on and then >> I don't know you go back to like last season we played City and like them little moments where >> he's not doing like the right passing decision making let him down and then City obviously score from it. So I don't know if he's sort of lost trust with Moyes. It's probably similar to what Diblin has, but I just I don't know. I think with the midfield options because I don't know would roll be in contention as well to come back. >> No idea. If you add >> very cautious Moyes, wasn't he? >> Yeah, cuz if you add into it, he might maybe rolls into place to play in his own position after you know his stint at right back. So I think it is interesting um what he is going to do with it all >> and like the fullbacks is really the only option. The place doesn't have options. >> Yeah. No, it is. And what about Braden Graeme? Because he will he'll be on the bench. I'd like to see him get some minutes. I think I'd like to see him get his his his full day well his Eden debut. >> No, we play preseason, but I think there's an opportunity there for the manager to to maybe give him some minutes either >> through the middle near the end. >> Yeah. >> Or off one of the sides. >> Yeah. Yeah. I think >> 10 15 minutes maybe. >> You look at the Sunderland game, don't you? Last season and it was the FA Cup, wasn't it? you seen like um was it Eli Campbell and like Reese Walsh and stuff come on and make their Ever and like senior debuts and >> I don't know if you're looking at >> I think it depends how the game goes are looking comfortable and there's 20 minutes to go then I think he will throw him on >> but it's just whether Evan sort of to get the job from the first part of it could be comfortable with 20 minutes left we don't know dude >> we don't know let's have a look obviously at um the team from the weekend that Everton went with you're looking there, you know, Kisha show Brian and Hackne got on the pitch, but if you're looking at that, you know, it's good that Jake come on, but he came on at right back. Now, the manager might be tempted to play him at right back again. >> Yeah. >> But I think Jake O'Brien has made it quite clear and the manager's referenced this that he's a center back and will want minutes at center back. So, I think he's definitely will play at center back tomorrow. Michael Keane. Who knows? >> Who knows? But the I imagine that's why the manager will want minutes in the legs. So, it is going to be it's going to be an interesting one what he does. I mean, tomorrow night represents the opportunity for the manager to sort of play a a spell of the game with Brennan Johnson as a striker. >> Yeah. >> Doesn't it? >> So, I think I'd see I don't know which way is the best way to do it. whether to play Tiero and try to to get him a couple of goals or get him a goal, you know, create chances and then take him off after an hour and put Brennan on >> or to start with Brennan to have a look what the shape looks like when he's the main man. >> Mhm. >> The manager might, you know, I don't I don't know because Brennan Johnson started the last two Premier League games as well. So, >> both of them have done the same kind of thing. So I just wonder if Tiero did the full game, didn't he, at the weekend where Brennan was was brought off with what 15 minutes to go or something. So it'll be interesting cuz he has sort of said Johnson's going to be the the backup striker. So that that's one where I look at and think there's a there's a choice to make there which way you do it. >> But I expect at some to see Ben and Johnson through the middle. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> You know what I mean? Whether that's finishing the game. >> I think he ended the Preston game up front, didn't he? >> Yeah. Yeah. But then we had everyone up front as the winger. >> As was further up to George. >> Exactly. Exactly. Let's have a look at the Wol team that won at Sheffield United the weekend. Here we go. Um, you know, late winner like I said from Ral Gimenez who come on as a sub. So, you know, their bench there and Trippia come on as well for the last 20. Jordan James on the pitch as well. Gomez. So, you know, you're looking at the team and seeing people like Chhat Tuman who who was is really quick, you know. Um, so again, having a look at it and think that they should win the game, you know, championship side, albeit doing really well. >> Yeah. >> But they have got threats themselves, Wolves. And you picked out B Lopez as a as their main threat. You can see there from I mean, look at his heat map. He's everywhere. But, you know, eight appearances, eight starts there, four goals from an XC, 2.11. He's registered two assists. He's created two chances so far. And currently has an average rating of 8.03, which is very good indeed. So, he's obviously one of the players that Evan are going to have to look out for. I mean they beat you know they've had the two wins already in this cup with Paul Failen and they beat Sunderland sorry Sheffield United Sheffield Wednesday we'll get there in a minute Sheffield Wednesday in the last round they did make changes for those games. >> Yeah >> but F Lopez obviously there looking at him is someone we're going to have to keep an eye out for. >> Yeah. So obviously we're looking into him a bit and you know he went on loan to Selto after signing from there for the second half of the season. you know, played I think it was 17 games and a few in the Europa League as well and then came back and then you throw him into this Wolves team where there is already loads of like Premier League experience and you know players who play in the Premier League last season and then names like you know him and Tripard and stuff and >> you know massive careers in the Premier League. So, it's like combining all them, I don't think it's going to be like an easy game for Everton. Like you look at the Preston game and obviously their championship as well, but I think it'll be two completely different games for Everton. >> We'll have to have a bit more about them than they would. And >> I think Everton have more than enough obviously, but I think it will they will give a challenge to Everton as well. >> Yeah. No, I think you're right. I think it'll be much suffered than Preston. >> Everton boss that from the very first whistle and you know could have scored nine or 10 in the end, won 4-0. So, it'll be it will be a tough game. These will these will make changes, I imagine, because the manager will want to keep everybody fit for their their push for promotion. Yeah, obviously. But, it's, like I said before, it's a great opportunity for Everton. They'll expect to win it and they've got to go out and do it expecting it doesn't mean anything. You've got to go out and earn your right to win and give Wolves the respect they deserve. They'll have probably 3,000 fans in the away end back in their team. So, it's an opportunity. Just one final thing, we might see an ex ever goalkeeper in goal for Wolves. Jiao Virginia who was joined Wolves. He was on the bench at the weekend. We might see him in goal instead of Jose S. So an opportunity to welcome Yao Jao back. >> He played he played quite a few carab games for him, didn't he? >> He played in the quarters against City, didn't he? Remember United or City? Was it the FA Cup quarters, wasn't it? Against City when and played really well. So he did play a few carabal cup games for Evans. Yeah, >> this is his tournament. >> So, this is his this is his thing. >> See the whole difference stadium as well. >> There you go. Great opportunity. So, yeah, it'll be I think it'll be a tough game for Everton, but one that we we will all expect Everton to win and build that momentum >> for Saturday because two own wins this week going into an international break, I think, would really make a lot of people feel happier about what has been a little bit of a rocky time over the last couple of weeks since the transfer window ended. Albe it that hasn't really played out on the pitch >> unbeaten before the international break. Anyone would talk that >> that would be incredible if they can go and do it. So they've got they put themselves in a position to do it but obviously like I said got to respect Wolves and make sure we get the job done. It'll be won't be easy but let's see.
