Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the match preview. Everton versus Twitch Town 3:00 at Hill Dickinson Stadium and James. A game that again I keep saying it's not a mustwin, but it feels like a game Everton >> should win, maybe need to win. >> What do you think? >> Yeah, I think it's one of them. You look at sort of the results that we've had for like the whole season now and you know got if we win this one it really like makes it all look like really good now doesn't I think if you lose it then you sort of you're looking at the league and it's like one win in five and stuff and people start moaning that but you get this it's unbeaten we're still in the cups and everyone's like happy about it and obviously playing a promoted team expect to control but I think I switch came in and they've started like life in the Premier League really well you know they're on the same amount of points so I think It's easy to have a lot up, but I do do think it'll be a tough game still. >> Yeah, it will. And and again, it's not sort of disrespectful to say to we expect to win, but I don't expect Eden to win a lot of home games, you know what I mean? So, Ipsswitch will know that they have spent well, spent a hell of a lot of money. They have sort of bought to give them a good chance and like you say, they've got half points so far. So, they've done really well and won last week at Cers Park, you know, late with Zane Fleming scoring the winner. So they have scored goals, but they've also conceded goals, you know, and and that looks like to be >> the weak points of the team so far as defensively they haven't been great, but you know, a promoted team at home, you you have to sort of fancy us, but we have to be on it otherwise they you know, we could be really surprised here. Yeah, I think as well just for the mentality of like the whole squad, I think, you know, going into it, everyone was a bit down and like the numbers and like the trans didn't come off and stuff. I think if you went into this international break where you've got three weeks basically and you know, Evan unbeaten and you sort of seeing glimpses from players who maybe we didn't rely on as much last season already, you know, you like Ty George, Tino Barry sort of turned it around and players like that. But I think it's massive for sort of the atmosphere around the club and also like everyone's mentality within it. I think once we come back, if we were to win, I think everyone's a lot more positive then and you sort of kick on a bit. But I think if you lose then, you know, we've seen it loads in here. If you lose before an international break, people are just talking about that loss for that whole international break rather than everything they've done before it. So yeah, I think I think as you said, you should expect really to beat a promoted team and I think everyone will beat them. But yeah, I think I think it's massive we do beat them for just sort of the rest of the season when we come back. It will be tight. This is not going to be sorry doesn't look like >> it's going to be one of them games where you you turn up and beat them three or 4. And I think if people are expecting that at the stadium, they might be a little bit >> frustrated cuz I have done all right so far. And and >> you know, we're going to have to be careful of that. But again, we we shouldn't be fearing a promoter team. We have to be the the team that is on the front foot, I think, tomorrow. And you know, we're hoping that the likes of Jack Reish are on it. Tyreek George continued his really good start to the season and we need you know we said Ti Barry's turned it round might be a little bit of a stretch he's definitely a lot better than last season but I do feel like this is a game where if he gets opportunities he got to take them because Bournemouth away I think he's been much better he's worked harder and he's looked more dangerous but Bournemouth away even though keepers made two really good saves >> in it he still should have really scored certainly one of them the chances and then the other night against Wolves he's got a free header that he heads powerfully enough and he's maybe a little bit unlucky but if he heads it down he scores for me so they're presentable opportunities and we need to earn no taking them if them he's going to get those opportunities he's got to take them for us and that'll >> that'll give people who've got no confidence in him a bit of confidence it'll give him massive confidence >> but also that's what you need your striker putting the ball in the back of the net >> yeah I think sort of what I mean is that like last season confidence on him was very low. You know Beth swapping all the time he wasn't really good for either of them. >> I think he came back this season and whether I think he had shoulder injuries and he sorted back you can see he looks a bit stronger. He looks a bit more confident on the ball and sort of less erratic than what he has done before. >> You know I think wise four goals one assist so far. I know it's all competitions and against Preston but still you've got to score them haven't you? >> And so >> yeah I think I think you're right. I think a lot of what Everton have been doing, a lot of the players that we have something that we've sort of questioned them on is that no one really goes for the goal themselves. Everyone a lot of the time passes in, waits for someone else to shoot and you know it's a bit of a trap and continuously like fall in. And so if Barry's the one who has to s be the one to finish it, then hopefully he does. And you've seen now David Moyes has sort of shown that Brennan Johnson's going to be his competition. And as much as you know he didn't >> do like ridiculously well against Wolves, I think he done a few nice runs where >> he shown something different to Barry and gave a different option that probably wasn't there at the start of the season and so that's a bit more competition on Barry's back now that he has to >> prove himself and you know he can't go like the Bournemouth game and miss three massive chances and >> you know the header for the Wolves game is like he's got to start putting them in and so hopefully with that little bit of added pressure it sort of takes him to that next level again. Well, we need it. You know, you you always need your striker scoring goals too bad at themselves. Obviously, they've got Anderson is it who's come >> and Fleming >> Fleming who who was, you know, the goals last week as well. We shot, you know, two headers. One from Lee Davis who I think is excellent for it up and down at left hand side and obviously Fleming was in the right place at the right time to turn the the ball into the back of the net with them. So that they're the chances that got to be taken and and you know it shows you if you've got someone in the right place you can do that you end up getting points. So that's what that's certainly what we're looking for and I think it's a it's a big game but it's a game Everton can win. But if we're looking at Ipsswitch obviously last week they were at Crystal Palace they won 3-2. So let's have a look at that team there. Even [clears throat] the subs there, you know, they've got Jaden Filig come on, there's Zion Fleming, Luis, and Uara all on there. And then you look at the way sort of the way they've set up so far under Gary O'Neal, you know, and they've got NCO, who is an excellent footballer, you know, I really like NCO. Um, he scored an absolute worldy last time Park, didn't he? A hell of a goal. They got Fatawu who I would have liked Edton to go after who's got pace to burn. So they they are a threat you know we're going to have to be we're going to have to really defend well. Everton >> have defended all right so far albe it last time at Hill Dickinson against United we give we did give a couple of poor goals away but on the main I think we've defended quite well and looking at Ipsswitch's firepower and attacking play there we're going to have to defend well. Yeah, I think Maitlin Naz has sort of changed how Evan defensively look because I think he is just more of an out and out right back and you know you seen in Wolves I thought he played really well as well like linking up with the wing and you know >> not just defensively but attacking wise and opens up the Ev a bit more and then you know Branwait I think I think Tarowski had a bit of a rocky start I think like the Palace game especially you know that first half it was a bit ropey but I think as the seasons came on he started to get a bit more in the rhythm of it and Brand obviously got an England call up and he sort has shown it and also Michelenko I think's been sort of someone you know Everton have had a lot of fans had an issue with but I think as a whole he's had quite a decent season so far I think >> you know what was the last game where Spurs man of the match and then you look at was it Bournemouth where he had the two blocks were like massive only really United he was he he didn't have a good game against Manchester United but Bournemouth I gave him man of the match I think Spurs >> he had a a rough opening 20 minutes but he did get he did get better and better as that went on. So, no, I think you're right. I think he's come back and he's he's he's trying to get forward. I think we need a little bit more quality from him when he's in and around the box, but he is trying to get forward, but he's going to have to be, you know, Fatu will stretch him. There's no doubt about it. So, he's going to have to be sort of on his metal there marking him and, you know, he is someone who does like to push and run and he's quick. So, but he generally when he's got a winger to mark like that. >> Yeah. >> More often than not, he has a solid game. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's where he suddenly is out. I think the first 20 minutes with the Tottenham game, I think everyone was a bit ropey, but then >> you seen Cinho after just couldn't get near him. No, he couldn't get, >> you know, we we spoke about it loads before about like his defensive qualities with like Sal and Sack and stuff like the ones that people always like referred to, >> but I think there are the games where he's probably at the most up for and where he doesn't really have as much, you know, attack and pressure on him >> is where he's at. That's his best when he can sit back and he can sort of take it. And I think having players like Girish where he has that link up like whether it's to Jubio or Hackne or Garner, you know, it means won't have to get up as much and so it opens up that >> like then to sort of link up instead. So >> is going to be a tough one, but I think I think he's shown that he can deal with these types of wingers. >> I do feel like he is going to have to get on the overlap against these though because it that will expose them. If you want to make flatter, we run that way. former players don't generally like to run the other way as we've se I mean that was what made we'll come on to him in a minute what made Tyler Dling tackle the other night so >> you know so appreciated by everybody the fact that he did sh back as a winger as a forward play you don't want to be going the other way >> they're running off you sort of like oh someone else will do it but that's when gers just got to get and slip them in and that's when I'm looking for a bit of quality like the other night I think Jack played him in and he got in right round the back just after halfime made a brilliant run took the ball didn't look and just clipped it in and the keep it and it's like if you'd have looked up you'd have seen there was no one by you. You could have carried on and then maybe cut it back with a little tapping and that that's where too often a thing with Miko is he gets in at the right area. He makes the right run and gets in the right area. His deliver is woeful at times and he could have so many more assists and people would appreciate him a lot more if he just looked up and played the right pass. He sort of gets there and goes >> just get rid of it. You know what I mean? put it in there instead of like a little bit of thought. But he has I think he definitely has improved. I just talked about NC so there let's have a look at his numbers. Um four appearances this season all start. He's got two assists. His passing 86.5%. He's created five chances. He's made 27 line breaking passes, 26 defensive contributions, and he has an average rating of 7.22. He had an assist in the first game which was absolutely fantastic. Rode a couple of tackles and squared it and lads knocked it in but he has been like I said he's he was someone we've seen the World Cup who was really good as well. So you've have done brilliant having him back there again and you look at him and think he's definitely one we've got to look out for. He had a I think again the Sunderland game he went on a lovely little run and Ben's one just wide near the end. So he's alive. Why and ever going to have to look out for him cuz he's a real danger man. >> Yeah, I think you know we were talking about him off camera saying about it was surprising that he's 22 cuz I feel like he's [clears throat] been around for ages >> forever >> and you know my last game at good game and obviously he scored that screamer sort of >> ele I mean it was a worldy wasn't it? >> So it shows sort of what he's capable of and obviously you're 22 and you've already played that many seasons in the Premier League. the reason why and think Everton will you know I don't know I think you look >> the slight of Anderson said Anderson isn't it just I was checking what I was check I was thinking Anderson doesn't sound like Emerson yeah >> yeah I think you look at like I know the players that ever have struggled with and I think maybe someone who's a bit more direct and down the middle especially you know a lot of times ever blocking a lot of the shots and they're the ones that have got a few times I went in I think he's going to be sort of that that danger that ever sort of have to look out for and be worried about and that's I picked him out. But >> yeah, he's just on his day like he's you can see why like Brighton and stuff wanted him and why he's went on to play for all these clubs and he's still only 22. >> Yeah, he's he's a really good player. Let's have a look at the Editton side that through at Tottenham last week. Um, as you can see, I mean, David Moyes doesn't have loads and loads of options, but obviously hoping and he did say in a press conference he expects Harris Armstrong to be okay. I think he just got a a bang in training the other day. expects him to uh to be available there. And then obviously on the bench last week he brought on Jack Reish, Jake O'Brien and Hayden Hackne. But we saw Edton in midweek and Tyler Dibling started the game on the right. >> Yeah, >> Jack Reish on the left for his first start in eight months. But I mean, what are you looking tomorrow? Obviously James Sarowski and and Jared Brandweight will be back in at the heart of the defense for Michael Keane and Jake O'Brien. what are we thinking on the the wide areas. What do you think the manager will go for? Because he had Brennan Johnson on the right last week, >> but it didn't really work and I think we saw Brennan introduced as a striker you've already touched on the other night and he he looked a little bit sharper and making clever runs. So, how do you sort of see what David Moyes will line up like tomorrow? Uh I mean I'd imagine obviously George comes back and cuz he has been sort of the spark and you seen when he came on against Wolves first took took that defender out >> and so I bring him on but I think I'd also be starting Gish and I think >> them two as like a partnership like a winger partnership works a lot better than like Gish and a Diblin just probably the fact they're very similar yeah >> types of players and slowing the game down and stuff and I think George is a bit more direct bit more pace about them bit more going at the defenders >> and I think right now they're our best two wingers and you seen it with like United Gish was causing them issues and then George obviously scored as well and so with them and I think with Diblin I think he I think he played well against Wolves and I think >> now he's shown the manager that like he can cause a bit of unrest. I think something that's been missing from his game and something that we haven't really seen and we felt like that he wouldn't really change a game but I think a few times with Wolves he was you know he was getting to the line and crossing it in and a few he probably should have had a few assists from it and so it's definitely put something in Mo's mind. I think the only issue with Diblin that I had with him cuz I do think he's he's a really good player is that >> it's not consistent. >> No. >> So like there's there's a lot of occasions where like you get it and it's just a pass back and he doesn't really move. whereas you can see he's got like that in him where he can just beat his man and get a ball in and obviously got the assist in the end. But >> I think for him now it's sort of building on it. I think if I'm David Moyes you give him an opportunity in this game off the bench just to sort of build on you know I'm getting out of the match getting assist and getting chances and see if you can >> sort of continue it and keep working hard. Well, I'm with you. I' I know a lot of people will be calling for Tyler Dibling to start tomorrow, but I'd have Jack Gish on the left and Tyreek on the right >> with the intention that Jack does 65 minutes and then it is Tyler Dibling to come on, let him build. He done he done good the other night. Let him build on that now with some Premier League and you know >> maybe when they do that they switch George to the left again and put Dibbling or or even you know imagine playing a left footer on the left hand side. >> Yeah. put Dibling there. But that I think builds on it then rather than him not being any kind of option. He should be an option and and hopefully the confidence will be there. I think >> the the risk of putting Tyler in from the start is it doesn't quite go to plan and then the manager hooks him and then you're almost back to square one where I think coming on as a sub >> with sort of 25 minutes to go. Uh maybe half an hour if Jack isn't doing it. Jack cuz Jack Greas didn't have a good game the other night against Wolves. He, you know, he was okay in bits, but it wasn't his level. But it was his first start for 8 months. So, I think coming on as a sub >> and all of a sudden the manager trusting you to come on as a sub is a big step up than what Tyler's had. >> Come on as the game slowing down a bit and you can you can impact it a bit. I think that builds your confidence more. Then you're on the you're on the end the pitch when it finishes. >> Yeah. >> Do you know what I mean? And you can maybe carry the teams a bit or whatever. and then he go into that international break and he's going away with the 21s. Whereas if he was to start and just say it's gone the way a couple of his other first team appearances have gone where he he hasn't been in the game and the managers hooked them at half time because the temptation excuse me to drag him off when you've got Jack sat there it would be too much for I think. Yeah, >> he'd have to be really good >> and then you go sound, you can't take him off yet. But even then, I think the manager be looking when can I get Gish on you know what I mean? Whereas I think for Tyler the best way for him to build I think is to come on as a sub because then he would complete the game and then he goes into goes away with England then he comes back and he's like I've played the last two now. Yeah. >> Now all of a sudden if he does okay for England, then he's thinking, you know, I'm getting I'm getting closer to starting here. >> Mhm. >> And the manager's got something to think about. >> Now I I think that's probably for me that would be the way I'd do it. And then obviously the same like we said the other night, Brennan Johnson becomes Tiero Barry. So you say to Tiero, I need a big 70 off you. You need to stretch these. You need to knock them about. You need to make sure if you get a chance, it's in the net. and you make him condense his work to 65 70 minutes and then Brennan Johnson comes on as a striker for 20 because it'll be 95 minutes won't it? So you're getting 25 minutes then as a sub. >> Yeah. >> Up front and then Brennan's got to make and then if Brennan Johnson starts getting the odd goal coming off the bench as a as a striker. >> You then start going actually Tiero out. Let's try Brennan up front and make refresh TO and make Brennan the main man. Can he do it from the start? If we're playing things in behind, can we slide balls through to him? >> Yeah, >> that's how you test the squad. You don't test the squad doing what the manager did last year. >> No, >> which is Dibling, you're not an option. Betto, you're on after 70 for Barry, but we still just keep banging it long and then Barry, you're on for 70 after Betto and we just keep B. That isn't really how you develop the players or the squad. So, yeah, you're right. Maybe maybe that's what the manager does here and goes with Gish and George, but Tyler is definitely an option off the bench and Brennan is as a striker. >> Yeah, I think I think you saw it very briefly when Bren Johnson didn't run on the pitch was just that that one chance that he made with Ben Johnson. I think that was like >> the perfect sort of idea of what could future in is that >> just lift it >> make it Yeah. Ben Johnson making them run using his pace like Tyler did when you passing to find them >> and I think that's sort of >> know what in the last 20 minutes what you want to be seeing more of especially of the sort of long ball sort of way that we have we normally play as been working it's something different isn't it a different option >> but that's what you see from other teams when they bring the subs on they they alter it slightly and all of a sudden you got a different problem to deal with whereas I think too often last season we just had the same problem so it was either give it to Gish in the first half the season and then Jay in the second out the season was give it to him Jay and if that didn't work and we were banging along then you just had to hope >> Jbury all come up with something didn't we so >> no I think listen I think that could stretch it which I'd understand some people will be saying no play Tyler I get it but I I think to build on what we've got I don't want that getting undone and I think it'd be too easy to undo that if it didn't and again I'm I'm talking glass here I because he could start and be brilliant but what if he starts and it doesn't quite click then it is easy for the manager to go hook it off. >> And then all of a sudden you're like, >> I'm off. He drag me off again. >> You know, he's never going to trust me. Whereas I think if you sub and all of a sudden you're getting the game and you're coming on as a sub, you start feeling the manager's trust. Yeah. >> And then you start thinking I can affect this game. >> So that's certainly what I'd do. But it's going to be a difficult game. Um just very quickly midfield because obviously Harrison Armstrong, what do we do? He's had a bang. he's not trained for a couple of days. Would you put him if he's available? Is he on the bench for you because of the injury or is he straight back in and Hackne's on the bench? >> I really, we spoke about this one in the last but I really like Hackne. I think I thought against Wolves he played well as well and he does change the game in sort of like an attacking sense as well. I think it's the extent of Armstrong's injury because I think Armstrong's had a good season as well. I don't think he necessarily deserves >> to be out of the first team. So I think it's sort of judged on the extent, but if if he's fine and back 100% I'd start Armstrong again. I don't think it's worth changing. >> And then one more come to me just then cuz I have to ask you. Obviously Ti Alkalas came on and got the winning goal the other night. >> Yeah. >> Do you think he he deserves to be given a little bit more trust as well? Maybe >> cuz I can understand why the manager leaves Jbury all on >> cuz I really like K. I think he's brilliant. I just don't think he's he's quite click this season so far. But I think he will and you can almost understand you have managers have those players where you go I know he's not playing really well but if we get him once sh he's capable of scoring but then Alcaraz is has got a goal in him as well. So >> do you think there's maybe >> a sort of a world where you start going if Kanan's not really being doing it with 15 left to take him off and put Alcadas there or is that would that be gone then two open what you Yeah, I think I think Alcas is weird in it because we had this sort of the same conversations last season after the Palace game where him and Betto came on and like changed the game. >> It was the year before, but yeah. >> Yeah, it was last year. >> Oh, sorry. Last sorry, I was thinking because they changed the game at Palace the year before when we won two when we scored. Yeah, they come on >> and it's like he comes on and causes chaos and links up well with the striker, but then >> he'd get games after that and it just be dead quiet again or he'd make city like the City one's the big one where he made a few mistakes and I think ultimately the end he was the one who costed the bad for the game. >> It's it's the weird thing of that. It's like you know we speak about Dibland changes in change games where there's no evidence but like Al has the evidence but he also has the evidence of harming us too. It's like it's a weird one with him and I think he is a good player. I think Moy spoke about in the press conference today saying um >> you know, yeah, I've played striker before and you know, he's thought about him playing striker too with Ben Johnson playing as well. >> And I think I don't know games where you want to just throw everything on and just go for that. I think he's perfect for them games. But >> it's it if if it's a game where it's a bit of a I don't know, the confidence with him is a bit weird at the minute, but I do think he is a good player. >> Um >> yeah, I think JB all I don't think he's had as great this season. and he's not matched anywhere near what he was like last season >> and so maybe for him I don't know to have a bit of pressure on him try and get back to that level playing Alcarz or bringing him on for the last 20 minutes might sort of get him up a bit more for it so it's definitely worth considering >> at least there's some options even though we do only have a small squad but at least there is some options so there you go let us know what you think in the comments section below Everton versus Ipsswitchtown 3:00 at Hill Dickinson big game big game for both teams but obviously we're Evan perspective we're expecting and open for a home win.
