Video summary
The video presents a preview of the upcoming Premier League match between Everton and Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium, focusing on the selection of the starting eleven for the season opener. The host acknowledges the excitement surrounding new signings but immediately highlights a significant gap in the squad: the absence of a right-back. With the transfer window still open, there is hope that David Moyes will secure more reinforcements before it closes, which would prevent the team from repeating the same lineup week after week and keep the competition fresh. In the meantime, the host opts for Jordan Pickford in goal, noting his consistent form since pre-season, while Mason Holgate is selected to start at right-back as a capable replacement who offers good energy and touch, despite the short-term nature of Jonjoe Kenny's previous experiment in that position.
In defense, James Tarkowski, newly named club captain, and Jarrad Branthwaite are expected to partner up, though the host suggests that Jake O'Brien could challenge for a starting spot as the season progresses. The manager might manage Branthwaite's minutes carefully due to injury history from the previous year, potentially creating opportunities for O'Brien to shine. In midfield, the team faces injuries, forcing the inclusion of younger players like Hayden Hackney and Harrison Armstrong who will need to adapt quickly to the physical demands of the Premier League under the guidance of Keenan Pinnock Hall. The host expresses confidence in these young talents but emphasizes that they must prove their consistency and leadership qualities to earn regular starts over more experienced returning players like James Garner and Nordgard.
The attacking lineup features a mix of established and emerging talent, with Illiman Ndiaye chosen for the right wing after his recent return from injury, while Tyrique George is selected over Tyler Dibling and Brennan Johnson for the left side to provide balance and creativity. The host notes that these wingers will battle for playing time and must demonstrate their ability to create chances for the striker. Tiago Bali is named as the center forward ahead of Beto, having impressed during pre-season with his goal-scoring potential. The host stresses that Bali's first year has been a learning curve, and he must now translate his skills into goals immediately to establish himself as a top player. Throughout the discussion, the host encourages viewers to engage with the Fanalytics app to vote on alternative starting options and build their own teams, promising to share post-match ratings and reviews after the game concludes.

Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the return
of the starting 11 show Everton vs.
Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson
Stadium. A nice
3:00 kickoff on a Saturday afternoon to
start the season. It's what we all would
have wanted.
There are some new signings to talk
about obviously for the team.
And they're getting though. That's the
That's the thing. We haven't got a right
back yet, so we can't
we can't sit put that right back into
the team yet, but we've got a couple of
weeks till the window shuts.
And uh
if you listen to Angus Kinnear, you
listen to David Moyes, it does sound
like
they are hopeful of getting more
signings in. So hopefully, you know,
over the course of the season, whilst
we're doing this show,
things do start changing
and it doesn't get boring and we're not
picking the same players week in and
week out.
Because
that is very very boring doing that week
in and week out and you'd have more
choice and that's the most important
thing is you have the choice.
So uh let's get into it. In goal,
obviously Jordan Pickford was someone
I'll choose. Same goalie every year, but
that's okay. Jordan Pickford number one
and uh
obviously had the pre-season game
at the weekend
and he's uh he's straight back in to the
team for the game against Crystal
Palace. At right back,
obviously Jonjoe Kenny was there all
last season. We don't have a new right
back as yet.
And uh for me it's Mason Holgate. Mason
Holgate will start as right back for
this game and listen,
I think if Everton fail to get a right
back, then Mason Holgate would not not
be a terrible replacement. I do not want
to see Jonjoe Kenny there at all this
season.
I think that experiment was very
short-term and went on a lot longer than
it should have. I think Mason Holgate is
a good footballer with a good with good
energy, Um
good touch, a bit of pace, and I think
to play right back, that's what you
need.
Um
Yeah, and he's a talented footballer, so
I think he can play there. I think he
can play there. You you know, we'll have
it's always a test when you come up
against tricky wingers
rather than just flat-out pace. You
know, if someone's got a trick, it's
it can test players who who are not used
to it, but
I think for me, you know, he starts at
right back. And left back for Vitaliy
Mykolenko,
but for me, this this is going to be one
this season that
could could change up. Adama Traoré has
got
a lot of game time in preseason.
And I think he just excites people when
he comes on the pitch. And I think he
might be one this season that we see
getting more game time
as the season goes along. He's got to
win the trust of David Moyes. He's got
to do his part, to be fair.
He's got to come on the pitch, and he's
got to demonstrate
good positional sense.
And when he does go forward, he has the
balance.
Don't get me wrong, I don't
you know,
David Moyes will ask maybe for too much
at times. Um
and will ask him, you know, maybe to
do more defending than he's he's
game
wants.
But everything he he shows a little bit
of,
you know, common sense,
and does the stuff at the other end of
the pitch, the exciting stuff which I
think we're seeing that he's capable of.
Vitaliy Mykolenko
is
he's a steady player.
Um
but I do think I do think this is a
chance for Adama to come in
during the season and take that place
off him.
Two center backs, James Tarkowski
obviously just been named as Everton's
club captain.
And Jarrad Branthwaite.
Um
I do think Taki deserves to start the
season.
But again, this is one where I look at
and think
there's an opportunity for Jake O'Brien
to get in the side. Now, you've you know
what you want to do. You want to play
forever and week in and week out.
Taki, I think, is still
just a little bit above him, certainly
in the trust department.
Jake has to come in and do the job when
he's asked. And if he does come in, he's
got to make it his own.
Um and I do think that could be one
during the season that could change
hands.
Jaden Branthwaite, obviously
we know what the injury situation was
last season.
And I think maybe for Jake as well,
there's an opportunity there there just
because I think they'll manage Jaden and
if there's times in the season
where they believe it
this might be the game for you.
They'll they might step him down and
give Jake O'Brien the opportunity. So,
I do think Jake will get chances to
play.
Um I think Jake will play, you know,
Preston next week.
It's up to him to show in those games.
He's got to be on it for those games.
So, I think that's another position. I'd
like another center back at the at the
club, if I'm honest, another younger
left-sided center back to come in.
But we'll have to wait and see on that
one. Moving into midfield ahead of them
there's obviously injuries in midfield
for this game. So, we're going to have
to we're going to probably have to rely
on some
younger legs and some people who may not
100% be ready, but they're going to have
to be ready for this game.
So, Hayden Hackney
comes in for this game. You know, he's
been in preseason. He's he's done well.
He sat in front of the back four. I
think he's a good passer. It'll be
interesting to see how he deals with the
pace of the Premier League where you've
got you get it and you've got to get
your head up and know what you're going
to do straight away.
By judging by what David Moyes is
saying, he's um
he may feel like it's too early for him.
I don't think he's got any other choice.
So, it's going to be interesting. It's
going to be a bit of baptism of fire for
him coming straight into the Premier
League.
And with him, Harrison Armstrong. Now,
it might be a case of
these two play together because just
because
it helps them out rather than
Hackney sitting deeper on his own.
But, I think, you know, I think Harrison
has shown as well in pre-season that
he's ready to step in as well. Mightn't
be for every game, obviously,
but I think he's he's he can play at the
level. It's just playing consistently at
the level at the level.
So,
I I have no fear of those two at all.
I'm not worried about those two.
Because they've got to play games and
they've got to get used to playing in
the Premier League.
And ahead of them, Keenan Joswiak Hall,
who obviously
had a season out at Everton and has
become one of one of Everton's main men.
Um
he has to be a leader in there as well
now for those two players.
Uh we've still got obviously James
Garner and Nordgard to come back into
the side and, you know, there's a bit of
experience in there,
a lot more experience. But, for Joswiak
Hall, he's got to
he's got to show leadership qualities
for those two as well and
um [snorts]
help them out during the game.
Uh the wingers, on the right-hand side,
I'll have I've gone for
Illiman Ndiaye. They obviously come back
in the last couple of weeks.
You know, there's been a lot of talk
during the summer about his future and I
still think there might be a lot of talk
after this game about his future.
But, it's up to him to just get out
there and show how good a player he is
for Everton and
um and do his job and
it's as simple as that. It really is.
On the other side,
it's been it's an interesting one this
cuz obviously
it's been um
an interesting summer to treat George as
coming in and signed Pembele for Everton
and in the and in the last few games
Tyler Dibling has has has impressed.
And and Brennan Johnson as well who's
come into the club and obviously he's
only had
uh, one appearance off the bench so far.
I've gone for Tyrique George
to start. I think that gives us a lot of
balance.
Tyler Dibling obviously started last
week with Injured and on the side. I
think that that that works as well and
Brennan Johnson can come in as well. So,
I think finally we've got
a bit more attacking talent in the side
you can come off the bench, start games
um, and
help Everton go out there and create
more chances.
Uh, over on the Fanilytics app we have
put a poll up or I've put a poll up uh,
asking you who should be
the other winger with the obviously if
Injured starts. So,
uh, the two choices are George or
Dibling. So, get over to the Fanilytics
app the link is in the description if
you have not signed up for Fanilytics
yet. This is a fantastic time to join up
and uh, tell us in the poll. You can
also build your own starting 11 in
the the app and after the game as well
you I'll you can put your player ratings
in and I'll be putting my player ratings
in as well. Get over there it's a
it's social media for football fans
without all the other stuff that you
don't want to see. So, head over there
and join today. As I said the link is in
the description.
So, I've gone for Tyrique George as I
said. I think he's had he's had a good
pre-season
and it's up to him cuz they'll be
they're all three of them probably at
the moment will be battling it out.
Injured the beauty is Injured can swap
sides. So, you've got three players
probably battling it out for one
position at the moment to start the
games but obviously
because those players can come off the
bench as well. I think
all of them have to impress, but what
all of them have to do is create chances
for the center forward. And the center
forward for me is Tiago Bali. I think
he's had a really good preseason. I
think he's shown that he is
ahead
of Beto.
Um
and again, it's up to him to show it in
the Premier League. It's up to him to go
out there and get goals and show that
he, you know, his first year was a
learning experience means for not not
just on the pitch,
but off the pitch. And you know, if he
wants to become a top player, that's the
start on day one. So,
that's my starting 11. Let me know your
thoughts in the comments with you agree,
where you disagree. Don't forget, head
over to for finalysis and get involved
get involved with the poll, build your
own starting 11 over there as well. And
after the game, I'll be doing my
my player ratings as well on the app.
Yeah, and you can tune in. The link is
in the description for that. Make sure
you check out the match review with Buzz
and myself and we'll have all the
reaction after the game. Thanks for
watching. See you later.
