Everton CEO Lifts Lid On Toffees Right Back Search... | Everton News Daily
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Everton CEO Angus Kean has addressed the intense fan frustration regarding the club's failure to sign a right-back this transfer window, confirming that filling the position remains a top priority. He explained that while there is significant interest and pressure from high-profile figures, including the Prime Minister, the process requires patience as clubs wait for the best available options and financial terms to align. Kean emphasized that they are not in a bad position but must avoid compromising on quality, noting that the majority of transfer deals typically finalize in the last few weeks of the window when players decide where to go.
The search involves several potential targets, with Daniel Muñoz of Crystal Palace emerging as a strong candidate who could leave for around 20 to 25 million pounds. Another former Arsenal player, Bukayo Saka (referred to as Brookke Norton Coffee in the transcript), has also been linked to the club again after Everton watched him on multiple occasions. Kean stated that while they have a number of targets under discussion and all would improve the squad, the ultimate goal is to secure the right person who wants to join Everton now without rushing the decision or settling for less than ideal.
Beyond the defensive search, the video touched upon other transfer news, including striker Liam Delap returning to the conversation as Chelsea's asking price remains high despite his contract situation and links with Nottingham Forest. Additionally, Kean highlighted upcoming community initiatives, specifically a charity match at Goodison Park featuring an Everton XI against a World All-Star team during the international break in late September. This event aims to raise funds for Shelter and Everton in the Community, promising an entertaining fixture with appearances from legends like Leighton Baines and Yaya Touré.
In conclusion, the CEO reassured supporters that work is actively underway to sort out the right-back situation as soon as possible, hoping to avoid letting it drag until the very end of the window. The club's approach balances the need for immediate improvement with the strategic reality of the transfer market, ensuring they find a player who fits both the tactical requirements and the financial constraints. Fans are encouraged to engage with the full interview on YouTube to see more details about the targets and to support the upcoming charity event, which offers a unique chance to watch former stars play together for a good cause.

Everton CEO Angus Canir has told to TV
or explained to T toffee TV the reason
why Everton have not yet signed a right
back. I spoke to Angus Cana today at
Hill Dickinson Stadium. This is what the
CEO had to say. Why haven't we signed a
right back?
>> It's the burning It's the burning
question. There's obviously been a lot
of interest this window. So at the
moment with a couple of weeks to go
>> it is I'm sure you're well aware that
it's the burning thing on everyone. You
know the prime minister even referenced
it the other week. So you know where are
we up to in that?
>> The first thing is it's it's a it's a
priority. It's a priority position. It
is as we talked about there were some
misses in the transfer window last. I
think we achieved a lot based on how
much we had to do.
>> We didn't get the right back over the
line. It was it was made public that we
that we tried and it is it was one of
the top priorities this window to to to
fix and I'm confident we will fix it. So
so I think I think we're I don't think
we're in a bad position. I understand
the fans frustration that these things
don't happen quickly but
>> the key is that we get the right person
in in the door and that we don't
compromise on on that. And I think the
way that the transfer window is working
is we have to find players who who want
to want to come to Everton and want to
come now. And also we have to we have to
make we have to try and uh navigate our
way through situations where we might
have a player who wants to join us. Uh
we want to sign them but there needs to
be um uh related moves in the window
whether that's
>> their team need to get somebody in,
somebody else needs to sell somebody.
Yeah. And if you look at the the volume
of deals that are done in the transfer
window, I think 70% are done in the last
last two to three weeks. And there's a
reason for that. It's because everybody
is waiting for their the best option for
the most money for the highest level
club. And we had to make a decision
about do we try and get somebody in
early and they can enjoy the full
preseason or do we wait for the right
person? At the moment, we're waiting for
the right for the right player.
>> We've got a number of of targets that
we're we're talking to. They will all
make us better. Okay.
>> Um and uh I think
>> some more than others.
>> Some more than others.
>> There you go. There you go. Watch this
space. Listen, it's Evertonian's number
one be bug bear I think at the bareb
bear I think at the moment that that
spot hasn't been finished being sort of
sorted out. But if that ends up with
Everton getting the number one number
two choice then fair enough. But it is
it is definitely a contentious thing
with with trophies around the world
including the prime minister isn't it?
Um so hopefully listen the the sort of
the proof of the pudding will be in
eaten won't it once the transfer window
shuts let's hope ever and have a good
right back and we can sort of understand
the journey but right now right now it's
um it's it's definitely a bone of
contention with most of us and there is
work to do. David Moy spoke about it
yesterday wants more players in and
that's obviously uh what Angus Caner
need to to get on top of as well and if
you want to watch the rest of that
interview it is available now on YouTube
so check it out. Daniel Munos remains of
interest to Everton that is the the
story today. Um the Crystal Palace right
wing back because that's what he is for
them could leave the club this window
ever now very interested in him
reportedly Evan and Spurs he fees around
20 to 25 million pound for the 30 year
old I think a lot of Evertonians would
be happy with him I think he is a he's
an up and down right back there's no
mistake about that he's a you know he
gets stuck and he's quite a character as
well and he definitely improve ever
there's no sort of no doubt about that
whether they do that one whether He's
I'm quite sure there's quite a few on
the list, but um he would be one I think
a lot of Evertonians would take to. So,
we'll wait and see if they move on that
one. And another right back has been
linked again today. That is Brookke
Norton Coffee, the general right back,
former Arsenal player. He's back on the
list apparently. That's what the reports
are saying today. Everton have watched
the 22-year-old on a number of
occasions. Um
listen again just going back to the
interview and if you go and watch it and
even in that piece there he says that
they've got a few options who they're
speaking to and it'll it'll be a case of
you know which one best fits Everton is
one of those non Coffee I don't know I
just know that Evan have watched them on
a few occasions but
um I think it's him we'll all be happy
when one does come in there like I've
just said there is business to do
elsewhere as well it's not just there
but that is the burning
sort of the one that's sort of hurt in
everyone at everyone's head at the
moment, isn't it? That we have to get
that one sorted. The sooner the better.
Looks like it's going to be Merlin and
Roll at the weekend against Crystal
Palace. This one might go right down to
the end of the window, but hopefully it
doesn't. Hopefully, we get this sorted
ASAP.
Liam Dap is back in the news today. the
Chelsea striker Everton apparently the
front runners for the forward but
certainly not at the price Chelsea are
quoting this comes off the back of Betto
being linked away from Everton as well
and a lot of the reports saying that the
lap will be the replacement for Betto
who knows you know Betto's been linked
with a move to Nottingham Forest being
linked with a move back to Serat as well
he's got a year left on his contract but
Evan do have an option to extend that as
well um the lap I'm sure there'll be
other strikers is Everton to look at
because they're going to try and sort to
get that balance right. He's had a poor
season leading dab last season and I
know that a lot of Evertonians don't
want him but Everton like they do with a
lot of a lot of the sort of the transfer
targets looking at the data if they feel
he'll do a job for us then that'll be
who it is but there are other strikers
out there as well. I'm sure Evan are
looking at, you know, two or three and
seeing whether they can get them in um
if Betto does move on, but I mean
there's no guarantee Betto will leave,
but the lap is back in the news today
with that one. Everton's under 21 side
are in action tonight. They face
Stockport County at Edley Park in the
EFL trophy if you want to catch that
one. Sky Sports are showing it. Braden
Graham is in the Everton lineup for that
one. So with uh get over and check out
Braden. There is other players involved
in that. They've also been involved in
Everton's uh squad been training with
the fair team including William Tamman
who spent some time out on loan last
season as well. And finally Everton have
announced today that there is going to
be a match for hope which will take
place at Hill Dickinson Stadium. It's
going to feature a Mercury side 11
combined 11 some other you know
celebrities from other other uh areas as
well people like Tony Belle you'll be
involved Molly man and others they're
they're facing a world allstar 11 as
well Kafu Yari Litman and people like I
know Yari Lman's playing on the mercy
side team isn't he but Kafu and Clarence
Sad off and things like that um will be
involved in that one there's lots more
to be confirmed as well it's going to be
raising money for shelter and Everton in
the community. The game is going to take
place during the international break,
September the 26th. It's a Saturday,
like I said, taking place at Hill
Dickinson. Stadium tickets go on sale
tomorrow raising money for an excellent
cause as well. And who knows, I might be
playing. You never know if they're
asking anyone. Might ask James. Who
knows? But there you go. The tickets are
available if you want to get behind that
as well. Um, it's an interesting one. I
think Edton need to do a little bit more
of this kind of stuff and I can see them
sort of getting involved in this and
other other clubs have done it. I know
Liverpool do it as well and there may be
sort of plans to move towards that kind
of thing and Mercy side
allstar game or something like that. Who
knows? But I know that a lot of
Evertonians myself included really
enjoyed watching Leighton Baines who is
playing in this game by the way.
Watching Leighton Baines and Jag Yelka
and other other players. Cubu is also in
this. I keep remembering the names who
were in it last season when we played
Roma. It was great to see those players
on the pitch again. So, um maybe there's
going to be an appetite for that. I
think there is. And it's a great
opportunity to get down to the stadium
and watch all the expros and others
playing as well. So, if you can support
that, please do. That is it. One more
thing to say, go and check out the Angus
Cany video. Make sure you leave your
comments underneath. It's important. A
lot of eyes get on it, a lot of
feedback, and it helps the channel.
Obviously the football club monitor it
and see you know the feedback that we
get and see the eyes on it and it it
gives us an opportunity to get in the
room with these people and ask them the
questions that you the audience want
answered and whether you like the
answers or not all Zach I can do as an
interviewer is ask those questions. But
go and check out the video. Make sure
you leave a comment underneath it.
Thanks for watching. See you later.
