can only get better. [music] >> Welcome to Toffee Toffee TV is my three talking points. Everton two, Manchester United to a Hill Dickinson this afternoon. The toffy's coming from behind twice to grab a valuable point with two absolutely fantastic goals. One from Tyreek George and one from Angley Maitelland Niles on his debut. Uh, someone sent me a stat before Dave Witch sent me a stat before the Maitland Niles scored more for Everton in 20 minutes than Tony Hibbit in about 338 games or something. So, a little fun fact there. But what a way for both players to score their first Everton goal. And um to come back twice from behind against United is is a big thing mentally. I think it, you know, trying to build this week was a real tough one and trying to keep things going and stay together and give the team belief. You know, United finished, I think, third last season, didn't they? Had a brilliant run under Carrick have spent big money again this summer, you know, and we've we've done the opposite really. and for us to battle and scrap and deserve everything we got today. You know, you could have a look at the stats and argue ever maybe deserve more, but a draw in the end just keep it keep it ticking over. Add another point onto the total. Um, I think the manager, I haven't heard what he's had to say after the game other than a quote, one quote, but I think for us, we've dug in and, you know, the players got the reward in the end and the fans who stayed got the reward in the end with a with a moment, a true moment of Hill Dickinson. Big game, last kick of the game, worldy of a goal, not a goal on scramble. And then the and it's just a slight pity. It isn't the winner of course, but it was a it was a fantastic sight from Angley, Maitlin Niles to give Everton a welldeserved point. So, you know, you've got to look at that as a big big positive after the week that was. So, let's begin with the week that was. Let's begin with the shambles that was the end of the transfer window, you know, and clearly things are out there now. I hinted at it earlier in the week when the blame game was going around that things weren't maybe just one person's fault and it's obviously come out now about the fleans sort of wanting out or wanting to sell part of it and everything else but I think you know the way it ended didn't cover anyone in any glory not the CEO not the recruitment team or the committee or whatever um maybe not David Moyes although he has got stronger definitely in the last few days and certainly the owners just to me have been really really poor like really poor. I've let everyone down, let the fans down and um with with you know a lack of ambition and a lack of ambition that I I've questioned many times really there like I keep saying undoubtedly they've made the club stronger. They've organized things. They they've got us out of a risk that we were in. Um but we want more. Well, I do. I can only speak for me. I want more. I want owners that care. I want owners that one Everton to win. I want only that one Everton to win the Premier League and the Champions League and and a plot in a path to try to do that. Might never happen, but I want us to at least be trying to get on that path, you know, that path. And I don't believe these are the owners to do that or, you know, have got that interest level of interest. Roma maybe they have certainly not at Everton. They haven't demonstrated that level um to me. So, with that being said, the window shut. didn't have follow and Balagan of course that that fell through at the last minute and it's left Edton short I think when everybody's fit and we still got Christian Norard to come back we've got a good set of players there but we're still short we we can't deny it you know we've got one left back and he didn't have a very good game today you know we've got one right back roll is trying to learn the role and and we're still seeing some naivity from um getting attracted to the ball and and leaving big gaps which you can't do but for me with a winger shot I wanted Hoya who went off to leads but there was others you know I said if we sold I it had to be someone like Asan Jao he got another couple for Ko the other night but we didn't replace I so we've got to be ready to go on January the 1st and I know people will be saying it back to me when I say this and the the right cuz history tells you the Everton don't do that. Will Everton have to do that? Everton have to have these deals organized in December. If that means paying a little bit more, do it. They're going to have to, you know, we our job as Edonians now will be stick with the team till January. The manager will have to, you know, corral all the players to stick together till January. Try and hang on in there and then we have to give him extra resources in January. But there might be extra resources to be got now. There is players in that free transfer market. It's not ideal. They're free for a reason and I understand that point as well, but there might be one or two that we could grab there who really help us. One thing I'm open for at the moment of recording this video, Rich Allison's move to Trainsburg hasn't been completed and there was some stories this morning that it might fall through which would leave him in a perilous position. really Spurs don't want him and there was some suggestions that he may well end up or Spurs may well end up canceling his contract, terminating his contract. Um, you know, get on the blow to him, say, "Mate, get Spurs to terminate your contract and come to us on a free and uh, you know, we'll give you a signing on fee and everything." Maybe that's one way around it. Maybe that's one way that ends up at Everton. Um it'd be weird if something like that happened though, wouldn't it? But but definitely for me got to explore the the free market. Is it is it Karen Benzema? Can you get him in? Probably not. But he would really help. He would really help. Then Barry, wouldn't he have an experienced striker like that? But there are one or two who I look at and think, you know what, he could help the squad. Um but we do have to be ready to go in January. We do. We're going to have to do something Everton don't normally do and have players announced on the 1st or the 2nd of January and get them in and that's going to be on the free to provide the money. It's going to be on Angus Cana if he's still here to get them deals done. No excuses. The recruitment team no excuses absolutely committee whatever you want to call it that there can't be any excuses. They have to be done those deals. So, that's where we're up to with that. Second thing I want to talk about is obviously the the young players that we do have in the squad. I think they're a real source of um positivity for the football club. I think we're seeing, you know, we've seen the importance of Harrison Armstrong to the fans. We saw that at Bournemouth last week. The reception he got today when they read his name out was incredible. But there's a real I think there's a real uh positive vibe around him and there should be and Hayden Hackne. Now I know Hayden Hackne is 24 but he's young in Premier League sort of Premier League games isn't he and I think we've seen I've seen enough in Crystal Palace game the Bournemouth game when he come on last week and today that he's going to be a good player for Everton. I think there should be there's lot there should be lots of positivity around particularly those two players in midfield. Okay, you can throw James Garner in who's a similar age, but I'm just talking about those two because like you said, Hackne's young to the Premier League and Armstrong is a young player and he looks like he's got everything to me. Harrison Armstrong apart from the shooting, he's got to work on that. But I think he just breezes through games. I think I'd like to see him pass it forward a little bit, you know. I think just sometimes he's a little bit safe and I'd like him to see him take I'd like to see him take a few more chances. I think Hackne does that. I think Hayden Hackne does play forward a lot. I think when he come on we saw that he's getting on the front foot. He's driving Everton forward. He's playing maybe a riskier pass into players, but that is how you that's how you thrive, isn't it? That's exactly how you thrive. And I think you've got those two players. You look at it and think it's bright. It's it it could be really bright. Um got obviously tidy only 20 on they've got Diblingu. Okay, he's not getting on at the minute, but you'd like to think he'll get an opportunity and you'd like to think he'd take it. I imagine Tyler Dibling will play against Wolves at home in the Carabau Cup, but he has got to be prepared and ready to go when he gets his opportunity. So there are players like that. We've obviously got players like Japan who is only 24 as well. So I think there's a lot of cause to be to be optimistic that we need more. Of course Barry himself is only 23 24 and obviously young in Premier League experience as well. So there's the making of a good side there and I think if we're going to be we can't be too down. Yeah, I'm frustrated. I'm still disappointed if I'm being honest and I needed that. and needed Maitlin Niles goal there to to keep to think, okay, we can do this and we go again, you know, sticking together and and we'll get behind them and and we can get good results this season. We definitely can. Like I said before, it shouldn't have to be like that. Of course, we we thought we were past this, but those young players seeing the way the team's developing gives me a real sort of bit of optimism for what we can do. Yes, we need to add to it. We need to add to it soon. But seeing Braden Graeme on the bench today, I think was really good as well. I think that's a big moment as well for him being in and around it for a Premier League game at home. And hopefully it won't be too long before Braden's given the opportunity as well. So, there are those reasons to be excited um and positive as we move forward. And then finally, a thing that will [sighs] will sort of we'll live or die by will be the goals that um that we score this season. We've got, you know, we scored what five goals in the three games. Tiero Barry is the only forward player who scored a goal so far. Kenan Dbury all you know midfield and we need that. Excellent. Um T sorry Tobo Barry till today. Tyreek's obviously scored today and that's what we need. We need goals from Tyreek. So, you know, we need we're going to need and if we think maybe of of a four then if we're going to say Juice Brio's playing at that tip, then we need him and Barry George. So, we're going to need Jack Reish and we're going to need Brennan Johnson to weigh in with goals and we're going to need Tyler Dibling. Whenever he gets the moment, we need something from him. You know, I think Tyreek look really dangerous this season. He had a couple of really good moves in the first half. Just the left foot has got to be better when he's he's going on the outside. I actually think he'll be more effective on the right. I think he can he he's skillful enough to come inside [clears throat] and he's got that right, you know, that's where he scored his goal from driving it into the roof of the net. But I also think he can go on the outside and whip crosses in. I think the problem is coming the other way. If you force back onto your right foot all the time, you're trying to bend balls into the box. It's a different type of crossing action on the left. Yes, he can get on the outside, but his crossing with his left foot hasn't been strong of late being low. So, I think you know him, he may actually be better being on the other side being on the right hand side. But, we do need goals. Brennan Johnson's had a shot today. Had a couple of shots, one in the first half and one in the second half that deflected and just looped up over Lemons but just landed on his net. Um, we're going to need Brennan to get his finishing boots on in the Premier League. already scored for Everton at Preston of course in the Carabal Cup, but that's they're going to be key for us and that's why again uh I touched on it in point one. We we're going to probably have to look at the free market. We have to I think it's really shortsighted if you think we we couldn't be made a bit stronger by getting a couple of reinforcements in. Um this is where I'm hoping Rich Allison does have his contract canled and we can get him cuz I think he does add quality and goals to that. But um that's what you're looking for whenever you know Jack Reish got two last season. We're going to need Jack to get six or seven this season. We really are. Some of that will come from just having more shots, you know. So when you look like that, goals are going to be key. And this is why a lot of people thought we needed another strike. Well, knew that we needed another strike. We had Betto last season. I thought we needed two. You know, Troy Parrot scored the other night. the winner against Real Madrid 17 million. He was he was worth taking a gamble on which we didn't do. So they're the moments that are going to define games and those lads in those front four positions if you include Keenan's usually all maybe it's Charlie Alcarez at times whoever um they're going to need to weigh in with goals cuz they're going to be the difference makers and you need a lot of difference makers in the Premier League and Everton need theirs to step up. So like I said there is some there is some room for for sort of positivity. I think the younger players in the the squad and particularly Hackne and Armson very very good in our midfield. Uh we still got Norard not younger of course but we still got no guard to go in there as well and obviously Evan are going to well for me they have to look at the free market but let's see let's see what it brings.
