Video summary
The video presents a scathing critique of Everton's 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town, with the narrator describing it as one of the worst performances they have ever witnessed despite the win. The speaker argues that manager Sean Dyche set a negative tone from the start by making questionable team selection choices, specifically criticizing the decision to start Jack Grealish while leaving consistent attacker George Keane on the bench. The commentator feels that Grealish was not fit enough to play and that starting him alongside Brennan Johnson was a mental mistake that hindered the team's overall effectiveness throughout the match.
A significant portion of the analysis focuses on Everton's inability to break down Ipswich Town's organized defensive press, which the narrator praises as brilliant. The speaker explains that George Keane's absence forced other midfielders like Joice All to play out of position, leading to a lack of cohesion where the team could not string passes together or bypass the opposition's high line. Consequently, Everton resorted to playing long balls, losing possession frequently, and failing to create clear-cut chances until they finally scored from a set-piece that looked perfectly legitimate but was controversially disallowed due to an offside call involving Brennan Johnson at the very last moment.
The match narrative further highlights the frustration of relying on luck rather than dominance, particularly after Ipswich Town reduced to ten men following a player receiving a second yellow card for what the narrator believes should have been a red card incident. Although Everton managed to survive the final twenty-five minutes with their opponents down to ten men and defended well against late counter-attacks, the speaker emphasizes that they were hanging on rather than controlling the game. The victory is ultimately characterized as a hard-fought but woeful result where the team struggled to put Ipswich Town to bed comfortably, leaving the narrator feeling that this was one of the most difficult wins in their life.
In conclusion, while the three points are acknowledged as the only thing that matters, the narrator expresses deep disappointment with the quality of the performance and the tactical decisions made by the coaching staff. The speaker suggests that Dyche prioritized experience over youth in a way that backfired, noting that even when substitutions like Dibble were made, they could not fully rectify the midfield issues or change the dynamic of the game effectively. The video ends with a call for fans to share their thoughts on the match and directs viewers to check out player ratings, reinforcing the sentiment that while the result was positive, the process was far from ideal.

Welcome to Toffee TV. It's the incident
Southand reaction. [music]
I'm competing here with Delton John, but
you know what? I just want to get off.
That was one of the worst games of
football I have ever had to sit through.
That was a [music] win. It was
absolutely just horrific performance. I
don't think I f found myself [music]
shouting it as much as I did today for
the wrong reasons. [music]
Like I it was terrible. Like proper
proper terrible. And I don't know
whether I'm being a don't know whether
I'm being a Grinch or something, [music]
but that was awful.
And I think Moyes set the tone with his
team selection. I think he got his team
selection wrong. [music] Jack Gish
should not have started this game in my
opinion. He is nowhere near fit enough
and not starting George.
Honestly, George has been our most
consistent player, a most consider
[music] consistent attacking player this
season.
And to leave him on the bench and start
Gish
[music] and start Brenon Johnson as
well, I just found absolutely mental if
I'm honest. [music]
I know I'm moaning a lot and we won, but
I can't sugar coat it. That was that was
absolutely woeful. I said woeful a lot
and now I have um [music]
obviously listen we started [music] the
game all right and we took the lead
through we should have been through
through Benn and Johnson. That should
have been the sign of the game really.
[music]
And then we we got scored through
what is a clever goal actually. Shot by
[music] Taki I think it was. And um
[music] in here. Turn up Bar's direct
redirected with his chest. I checked the
lines and straight away the lines just
said it was on side. So I thought it was
on size even though you know Man City
and them [music]
and we took the lead and we should have
just settled down but we didn't. And
Ipsswitch fair play to IPS. I thought it
were brilliant today. Brilliant. They're
433.
Their press [music]
was absolutely fantastic
in Cisco. Brilliant player. Remind me so
much [music] of Enai but can play
centrally and no one knew what to do. No
one knew how to pick him up. [music]
And really they should have been level
before Halime with Davis.
Davis should have scored. Brenon Johnson
[music]
made me m just left them. But the fact
that we couldn't string three passes
together in the midfield was was
abysmal.
Ghana
Armstrong [music]
Juice All hasn't had a decent game all
season [music]
and actually Juice All was one of the
main problems because
he he was playing so advanced and
[music] was playing around Greish that
it was that he wasn't playing the
midfield properly. Sometimes he was
playing in a 442 and it left us with two
against their press and we couldn't
break their press and we kept on trying
to play it around the back line looking
for holes because we couldn't break
their press. So So we end up going long
and then we'd lose the ball when we went
long and it came back and they were just
so much better in possession than we
were. Quite frankly it was it was to get
to half time and it'd be 1 nil. Um I
thought right we'll make changes not
changes so we'll make changes to the way
we play but we didn't they had a chance
early on I think again could have made
it 1-1 and it it never changed and then
we got we scored obviously from a set
piece which looked like a perfectly good
goal and to be honest it is a perfectly
good goal in good they're 2-0 I'm
thinking we've rode our look here we've
absolutely rolled our look here and just
as just as they showed on the board you
could see I seen on the board and saw
Brendan Johnson in an offside position.
Brennan Johnson and I thought they going
to look at this and like literally at
the last minute they went and looked at
it and just knew and listen in the rules
of I don't even know the rules of the
game whether he's offside of him
perfectly honest. I don't think he was.
It's a it's a woeful decision by the
referee to disallow it. He's standing in
front of the goalkeeper. No goalie. Two
goalies aren't saving that header. Two
goalies aren't saving it. It was woeful.
um is this allowed? And then we've we've
we've got lucky. One of their players
decides to throw himself on the ground,
gets a second yellow when it's a red
card, and that we've got very very lucky
off that decision.
But the like I can't even stress how bad
we were. Like the substitutions like
Jack Gish could not run and for some
reason he stayed on 15 minutes longer
than he should have. like he couldn't
run like he was walking up the pitch
like for me he shouldn't have started
he's nowhere near fit and Moyes in
classic Moy style or experience over
youth
now I get it if he'd started Jack Gerish
and played George but to play to leave
George on the bench I can't wrap me head
around that decision he didn't play on
Wednesday night so he play brings Dibble
on and while Diblon was on the pitch he
played really well to be honest he
created had a great got created another
two or three chances. Hits the side net
himself. Um he should have scored from a
header. Um I forgot Barry should have
scored ahead in the first half by the
way. Terrible to put it wide in my
opinion
and Ipsswitch were just like we'll go
for this. They brought a couple of big
lads on the front started knocking it
long and it and it panicked us and he
should we bring O'Brien on. They're down
to 10 men and he brings the we sub on
and right at the end there they've had a
couple of chances where we've got very a
couple of chances
where if the ball bounces the other way
I think there's a great slide and tackle
at the end. I don't know who it was to
be honest
but the slide and sackle stopped all
three of them getting through honestly
that has got to go down as
one of the worst wins I've ever seen.
one of the worst wins I've ever seen in
my life. Um, and I'm not I'm not going
to sugarcoat it. It's as simple as that.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it because it
can't be sugar coat it. We were playing
we were playing one of the worst not one
of the worst teams. Sorry, that's that's
an overstainment. I switch good today.
We were playing a promoted team who
have got like good players and I've got
a good system and fair play to them. But
they went down to 10 minute and we're
down to 10 minutes for like 25 minutes
and we couldn't put them to bed and and
we were struggling at the end like we
were hanging on at the end like seven
minutes and he's played eight and people
are whistling and Moyes is just standing
there like honestly react to the game.
We're one n up.
Honestly, I I I thought that was abs and
and you know what? I didn't think last
week was good and I know a lot of people
made up with a point. By the way, really
have shown today that last week wasn't a
good point to Tottenham. So, they've got
three weeks now. No jollies, no no
listen, no going on holiday. Zachish,
you stay and you have a preseason cuz
you're nowhere near the limit, the
level. And fair enough, but Moyes
got it completely wrong today. He
started with the with the teams the team
that he started with and the subs were
just poor. It should have been Gish off
and Brennan Johnson off at the same
time. Brenon Johnson's missed another
one in the second half just before he's
gone off as well. Should have been a
pair of them off. Got some pace on and
changed the way we playing. Honestly,
I'm glad I'm glad there's no footy for
three weeks in some ways. But listen,
we've got the three points and that's
all that matters. But my god, did we
make hard work. If you think I'm a ma,
fair enough. I'm not asked. I expect
good performances at times, just
sometimes I expect us to put a good
performance in and win games
comfortably. And we were, for me, we
were horrific today. So, um, there you
go. Let me know your thoughts in the
comments. Thanks for watching. Make sure
you check out the player ratings and
I'll see you all later.
