EU Designates ChatGPT, Reddit, Roblox Very Large Online Platforms For Greater DSA Scrutiny -DTH

Chat GPT, Reddit, and Roblox will face tougher European Union rules after crossing 45 million monthly users in the block. Chat GPT was designated a very large online search engine. Reddit and Roblox were designated very large online platforms under the DSA, or Digital Services Act. That brings extra risk assessments, transparency requirements, and content moderation obligations with fines that can reach up to 6% of global revenue. Open Claw 2.0 is out, and the open-source AI agent platform is trying to make setup a little less painful. The new version can detect existing Chat GPT or Claude subscriptions, API keys, and local models. And its rebuilt browser app adds shared cloud sessions, plus a companion thread, so you can ask questions without interrupting an agent's work. This is the project's biggest release so far, with more than 16,000 pull requests behind it. Adobe is giving more than 27 million eligible Saudi citizens and residents 12 months of free access to Adobe Firefly Standard and Adobe Express Premium features. The deal with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Humain, that's h u m a i n, is valued at more than $4 billion and includes a jointly developed image model tuned to Saudi culture and Arabic language prompts. Another example of governments treating AI tools as national infrastructure, not just software subscriptions. Instagram says AI-generated influencer accounts need to clearly label themselves as AI generated profiles or get demoted in recommendations. The rule is aimed at accounts pretending to be a human or real, not just every person who uses an AI tool to make content. So, Meta appears to be drawing a line around AI slop, but still allowing plenty of AI content on its platforms. Nvidia is investing at 3.5 billion dollars in Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek. The companies say they'll work together on AI infrastructure and platforms for AI-powered vehicles, which gives Nvidia another way to push its accelerated computing into new markets. MediaTek already plays a major role in phones, cars, and connected devices. So, this is a supply chain and ecosystem move as much as an investment. Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey warned G20 finance officials that advanced frontier AI models could become a serious risk to global financial stability. His concern is that increasingly autonomous models can accelerate cyberattacks against the financial system, where one major disruption could spread quickly across connected markets and institutions. Bailey is calling for international coordination and stronger recovery planning before this becomes a crisis response problem. LG Energy Solution signed a 10-year deal to buy battery-grade lithium carbonate from Smackover Lithium's Southwest Arkansas project. The agreement covers 8,000 metric tons a year once commercial production starts, giving LG a US-based supply source for batteries used in energy storage systems and electric vehicles. Smackover Lithium is a partnership between Standard Lithium and Equinor and the project uses direct lithium extraction. Finally today, Apple Maps is still showing Lake Ontario as Lake Ontario even after Google Maps changed the name to Lake America for US users following a US president executive order. Google says it follows names from the US geographic names information system. Canadian users still see Lake Ontario and international users are seeing both names.
