Video summary
The video opens with the exciting return of the English Premier League after a month-long break following the World Cup, setting the stage for Arsenal to kick off their campaign against Coventry this Friday. The host introduces his co-hosts, Osano and Mika Geik, who discuss the recent weekend's events, including Manchester City's surprising 3-0 defeat to Arsenal under new manager Enzo Maresca and Rodri's confirmed transfer to Barcelona. While Osano expresses disappointment over City's loss, Mika celebrates Arsenal's victory, noting that Arteta is establishing his authority by aiming for historic success in both the league and Champions League. The conversation also touches on local Kenyan football, highlighting financial support given to teams like Shabana and the growing soccer scene in Muranga, before shifting focus to the recent AFCON tournament where Cameroon defeated Malawi 3-0 in the final.
The discussion regarding the AFCON final delves into the tactical differences between the two sides, with analysts attributing Cameroon's victory to their experienced defense and clinical finishing, which contrasted sharply with Malawi's shaky backline. Despite Malawi having a strong attacking duo known as the Chawinga sisters, the team struggled against a formidable and determined Cameroon squad that had recovered from previous disappointments. The hosts reflect on Kenya's early exit from the tournament, identifying issues such as lack of pre-tournament friendly matches and financial disputes over player allowances as key lessons for future competitions. Furthermore, they touch upon the third-place playoff between Morocco and Algeria, noting that while these European-linked teams dominated, it was a relief for African football to see Cameroon win the title after three consecutive finals appearances without success.
Attention then turns to the upcoming Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season, where new promoted teams like Migori Youth, Three K FC, and Mombasa United are expected to make significant impacts against established giants like Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, and Tusker. The hosts analyze the structure of the new league, predicting a tough battle for survival while acknowledging that the title race will likely remain dominated by Gor Mahia due to their superior resources and squad depth. They also discuss the Super Cup match between Tusker and Gor Mahia, viewing it as a crucial curtain-raiser before the international club competitions begin. Additionally, the segment covers the FESCA games in Tanzania, where Kenyan youth teams faced older Ugandan opponents, sparking debates about age category fairness and the need to nurture local talent through scholarships and competitive exposure.
Finally, the video provides an in-depth analysis of Manchester City's transition under Enzo Maresca following Pep Guardiola's departure, with concerns raised about the lack of leadership and defensive stability in the squad. The hosts argue that while Maresca showed promise in the Community Shield, City faces a difficult season without key leaders like Rodri or Bernardo Silva and may need to invest heavily in midfield reinforcements to compete for trophies. Conversely, Arsenal is praised for their cohesive unit under Arteta, who aims to secure back-to-back titles. The episode concludes with viewer predictions on league winners, social media shout-outs to dedicated fans, and a reminder to tune in next week for updates on the ongoing matches involving Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United as the new season gets underway.

with a Malawi facing Cameroon in the
final and you know how it should
transpire but you're again going to get
to to to more even more details. But
right now we're just going to switch
gears really quickly and look at the
league. Remember the league is back
finally uh from after after a month or
so after a month or so break. We went to
the World Cup now we are back. The
league is back this again. Arsenal is
going to start the campaign against
Coventry this Friday so we want to see
how the teams are prepared, how the
teams have signed and who they want even
to sign. Talking about Manchester City,
really much the city needs to sign a lot
of players after all they just left the
players. But for now let me introduce
myself. My good name is James John. On
all social media you can find me at
James John. And talking about social
media, make sure you rush to our social
media page at Y 254 channel. [music] You
put up a post to quiz uh who are you
predicting who is going to win the
league. So make sure you share your
comments then I'll be reading some of
the few comments that you might have
shared. But for now let me introduce the
people I have with in the building. If
you want to talk about Manchester City,
of course you must meet Osano. Osano
really disappointed from the weekend I
believe
uh after the campaign Enzo Maresca
showed you then of course we have Mika
Geik wearing very patriotic about the
team. Wearing the Arsenal jersey kama
kawaida. Very um I think very happy
after the win that he got
during the weekend against Manchester
City. But Osano, maybe tell us a little
something. How have you been? How was
the weekend? Also what do you expect
this new season?
>> Yes, my weekend first of all tukianza
iko poa sana. You remember we lost
3-0 to Arsenal.
The first game for Enzo Maresca. I had a
lot of expectations even though I I had
some feeling that maybe we might lose
that much but a 3-0 for me it was
ilikuwa mingi sana. And then you know
a few hours later
that Rodri transfer to Barcelona was
confirmed.
Blow after blow so I think it was a
heavy weekend for us as Manchester City
fans. [laughter]
And now the week but the week has
started so well. I think it's been a
fantastic and now this weekend football
is back, club football is back.
No more boring weekends and we are ready
for the season although
I still have some doubts in my team but
again let us wait and see.
>> Arsenal on a good day how is Arsenal so
far? Do you think you're preparing well
enough or do you do you think you can go
even back to back this time round?
>> Actually if if you look at Arteta now he
just wants to stamp his authority as a
coach.
That's why the signings he's doing, what
he's trying to implement, he just wants
to to be among the best coaches around.
And for him to do that you must win
every competition be the league, be
Champions League
at least for a number of times so that
you get into the history books.
So when you are here last time I told
you that you are going to beat Man City
not a minimum of two goals
and
to my words Arsenal made it three.
>> It's like Manchester City forfeited the
match and
>> So
it has been a a good weekend and there
are a lot of interesting stuff happening
in football around the world and even
within the country. You remember
something also to note I saw our
president
gave Shabana 10 million so that they can
be able to sort out logistics and things
around there.
And also if you look at Muranga Youth
you can see the
the patrons and everyone involved is
really trying to push the team so it
means that the soccer is growing
in this country and also in the entire
world and that's something that we
should be proud of.
>> Of course you're going to get
more details on that. But now let's
start with AFCON. Of course we had a bad
campaign you can say zero wins in the
the group stage games that we played,
but after that of course the tournament
still continued after Ivory Coast exited
the stage. Now, Malawi faced Cameroon in
the final and Cameroon managed to thrash
Malawi three goals to zero. Amazing
performance from
Cameroon that is. But what do you say?
What do you say? What did not work for
Cameroon for Malawi that is cuz they
have had a fairly good campaign all the
way to the final. The Chawinga sisters
being the main star, Temwa being the the
top scorer of the tournament, but what
can you say did not work for Malawi
maybe?
>> Yes, I think I think
Malawi as I said they had a very good
campaign throughout the group
[clears throat] stages to the knockout
rounds. And speaking about the final, I
think they came in and faced a very good
formidable team. You see Cameroon after
back to back disappointments, I think in
the last two edition of this
competition, this time round they went
into the final very determined, focused
and they did what what they did. Three
nil for sure is not something that we
can say that when Kenya maybe, that one
we saw the kind of goal they scored. So
I think Malawi really came into this
match and they
a very good team, Cameroon to be honest
cuz you can
and
I'm very proud of them cuz you can
after being in the in
>> Yeah, the three times been in the final
for three times.
>> Three times and then losing
[clears throat]
and
this time round they are now the African
champions when it comes to the women's
football. So I think that is what I can
say about the match.
>> Now Nick, maybe getting to you maybe
talk about the performance from the
defense in Malawi side. The goalkeeper I
think made a fairly bad mistakes coming
out really chasing the attackers
conceding a silly goal, but what can you
say fairly that because they have a good
attacking the two sisters up front, but
the defense I think is where they
failed.
>> Yeah, I I I think
Cameroon was just a good team and uh
sometimes in
>> Mhm.
>> also luck can follow you.
>> Mhm.
>> Because uh you remember Cameroon did not
qualify directly for AFCON.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh when the teams were added, it is when
Cameroon came in.
>> Mhm.
>> And they came in with that extension and
they went and
>> won it.
>> Mhm.
>> So [snorts]
uh
I I I had a lot of expectation with uh
Malawi based on how they were playing
their their soccer even before. And I
was really supporting them. I was
hopeful for their attack.
>> Mhm.
>> But uh one thing that stands in
uh in uh in uh football that uh if you
want to win uh
uh a trophy
the defense will win for you a trophy.
>> Mhm.
>> The striking will get for you
>> the goals.
>> the goals and win for you matches.
>> Mhm.
>> So uh the goalkeeper for Cameroon from
the penalties, she did uh against um
against [clears throat] Morocco.
>> Mhm.
>> Can tell you that there was a lot of
confidence from the back. So they were
now able to build. If you look at the
way Cameroon displayed the balls, you
could see they could
spread the balls uh through the wings,
bring them, and you can see the headers.
>> Mhm.
>> So Cameroon was uh they dominated the
match and also maybe also experience I
can also speak about experience.
Remember Malawi was sitting the final
for the very first time.
>> Yeah.
>> So there also you need a team that has
ever been there. So I think that's what
also carried Cameroon
uh forward because like somehow Malawi
became a bit shaky. So that's why they
made the the slightest mistakes.
>> Mhm.
>> And in football any mistake a defender
makes
>> Mhm.
>> just consider it a goal. And that's what
happened because uh
they were clinical headers.
But I think
they were two
>> Uh-huh.
>> two clinical headers. But uh at the same
time
>> Uh-huh.
>> I think uh the defenders were not that
experienced to to deal with the with the
with such
such crosses. Yeah.
>> Good thing you have mentioned defense
wins you trophies. Actually, that's what
happened. But now talking about the
whole tournament, of course Kenya been
exiting early early early out of the
tournament. But what can you say maybe
you have learned from this tournament?
Maybe what can we do better? Maybe
coming to the next the next WAFCON.
Maybe even about
the upcoming under 17 World Cup. What
can we teach them even get a little
glimpse from this tournament and say we
need to do
we need to improve in this certain area
so that [clears throat] we can even
reach the to the to the to the knockout
stage.
>> Yes, I think I think the last time I was
here I think we spoke about this and I
said that
what really costed us I think we had a
lot of things that really costed
[clears throat] us. We can go
we went into the tournament after the
postponement and we could not have any
friendly any major friendly with it
could be within we are playing within
ourselves. I think that one also
also off field. We can go I think
what another lesson that
the federation
before [clears throat] we go into any
major tournament you should first of all
make sure that you have sorted out if
come and the allowances even the
salaries of the players before they went
in there for some of them.
What we can do in the Mali and maybe I
would have sorted out
my mind distorted. So I think
we had a lot of factors and also
the team the selection also the coach
the players
maybe next time we should improve on
that one and I think we are good to go.
>> I think there are certain areas that we
need to improve but now talking about
coming back to the WAFCON Nick maybe
talk about the the third place Algeria
versus Morocco. I think you are the very
first person who didn't want any of
those teams to [clears throat] be reach
the final. But what can you say about
the third place playoff between the two
teams?
>> Yeah, I I think the the they had nothing
much to to play for because uh
actually,
you know, Morocco I usually call them in
my in my social media pages as
deputy Europeans.
>> [laughter]
>> Mhm.
>> So, both both male and female soccer
team
>> they believe that they should not be
competing with with the within Africa.
But, it's good that even the next World
Cup they will co-host with Spain.
>> Mhm.
>> They're fellow
>> Portugal as well.
>> Yeah, they're fellow Europeans.
>> Mhm.
>> So, that's why I really didn't want
Morocco to to win this and uh
and even if you look at the way they
played
>> Mhm.
>> [clears throat]
>> uh they were playing and they were
hosting this tournament so that they can
win it.
>> Mhm.
>> But, it is good it has gone with the
Cameroon. But, generally to to the World
Cup
women World Cup, we are taking
>> strong teams.
>> yeah.
>> strong teams that uh will showcase what
they are able to do. So, Algeria,
Morocco, they are just the same. They
were they they have quality teams that
have invested both countries have
invested in soccer.
>> Mhm.
>> And uh
generally, they're good. But, we have
other competing teams like Malawi now is
in
>> Mhm.
>> uh Cameroon and also we can't
outright
Nigeria. Nigeria women also played a
good soccer.
>> Mhm.
>> So, that's where we are. So, even as a
country being that we were in WAFCON, we
believe that we we we we can hit those
spaces.
>> Mhm.
>> But,
we we we have just slight issues here
and there because we have two young
female coaches
who have taken
the female football to the to the next
level. And also, we are at a point where
we don't know whether to bring in more
uh some more experienced coaches.
>> Mhm.
>> So, that's where we are, but we believe
federation and the country might they
will have a sitting and they will
explain why we really need to compete. I
like what happened with Chan. Chan, you
could see the president was really in it
that you people don't disappoint us.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh the the FKF was in, the technical
team was in, and
even us as citizens,
>> Mhm.
>> we were going to the field just
>> Do you think the the reason that was
there was that much type of support is
because you were seeing it happen in the
in our country?
>> One One One we were host,
>> Mhm.
>> and two,
>> Mhm.
>> I think
the FKF, even if you look at the
election and the the as a country,
>> Mhm.
>> we just want to see how can football be
a source of income generating to the
young people and every person involved,
like all stakeholders.
>> Mhm.
>> So, it is a a good direction you are
taking. And for men, men we are
somewhere. It is It is accept that for
for ladies when they they went to State
House, you could see they were just
being more of entertainment
>> Mhm.
>> compared to when men went there, where
you could see there were serious
discussion about soccer. There There
were things like, "If you do this, I'll
do this."
>> Mhm.
>> So, like even the team came out that
guys, "It is not just about visiting,
but we need to also give back to this
country so that we uplift the country."
So, if female can take that direction,
>> Mhm.
>> I believe we'll be somewhere, even
with the under-17.
>> Yeah, amazing. Of course, under-17 high
in for that World Cup some more, USA,
and also is it China in the same group?
But let's talk about Beldine Odemba for
a second, maybe maybe about the job that
of course been the the head coach of the
Harambee Starlets after disappointing
campaign. I think people wanted Beldine
out. But for you, what
what do you what do you you say about
Beldine? Is she someone to to keep the
job or we need someone new for the for
that specific role?
>> I think I think for me
Beldine on Djemba is okay.
The only problem that we had during this
WAFCON tournament, I think
the technical bench failed him so much
for me.
>> Say for so more so the the the set piece
coach.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So so so I think
I think to give her the coach because
the coach is not she's not the one who
when you are in the field. The coach has
to make sure they make all the right
squad, the right people in the squad.
And then I can say during the matches I
may give out the best lineup. So I think
there is more. There is more than just
to give
take all our blames to the coach.
>> And I love the way that the the captain
that is Malali Madam said after after
the critics online I can say don't blame
the coach. Blame the players. But now
now switch away from WAFCON of course
congratulations to Morocco to Cameroon
that is they won it after their three
consecutive finals without winning it.
Finally they have won it. Malawi they
really tried. And for the Temwa
congratulations for winning the golden
boot. Now let's back get back to Kenya.
Of course you sent our children to
Tanzania play in the FESCA games. But
what is what is really [laughter]
happening?
I think people are saying those are you
are playing against giants really not
not really the same people of our age.
>> You know
you know there is
a game I was following uh
this one for it was Uganda versus St.
Mary's Yala. And there is a good player
there called Anko.
He plays number 10.
So you could look at you could look at
our our favorite Anko
>> [laughter]
>> versus the Uganda guys.
So
it it
it was just a mismatch.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh actually, I I'm really thinking how
did Belden You know Belden went with
highway and what that
>> Mhm.
>> what that East African
>> Mhm.
>> with a highway. So, I don't know how she
did it.
>> Mhm.
>> And uh you know, somebody was commenting
somewhere that the last time we really
competed
in East African games immediately after
after
after national games.
>> Mhm.
>> I think the team's reinforced by
>> [laughter]
>> by picking some
some young guys who plays in the league.
>> Mhm.
>> At that point, we need people like maybe
Akin Awangaya.
>> You have to bring them back to that
level.
>> back.
>> [laughter]
>> Because because you see somebody who
plays for schools in Uganda.
>> Mhm.
Uh
>> The person is way way much old. If you
look at even their ladies, passes our
ladies.
That That thing is terrible. I think if
if they mean that it should be under 18.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh it should be that under 18 year of
quality.
>> Mhm.
>> That one is unfair.
>> There's something wrong with their
certificates, really.
>> No, you know you know you know Uganda
goes up to form six.
>> Mhm.
>> So, you find that somebody who has done
form four in Kenya
>> Mhm.
>> if he goes to Uganda
>> Yeah, first year.
>> I go
>> [laughter]
>> I go form five so
So
So, when I come now to when I come form
two up at Kenya
But uh our our uh the boys tried.
>> Yeah, they did really.
>> Uh at least they pulling those those
drawers. It was not an easy thing to
[laughter] do.
>> Mhm.
>> [clears throat]
>> Yeah, so but uh
generally, but but what what what what I
love about um even the current team,
there there a number of uh boys who have
who will get a number of scholarship
because we really have a good um
How do you call it? A A
A good talent.
>> Talent, yeah.
>> That that can be sold out there. So,
we'll meet at later stage even as a
country. Say you want me to pick up.
But you got to put on a camera in case
our video is not working for my job.
>> Now talking about related to all that
cuz we are we are we are looking at
young talents. You are awesome. Maybe
we have seen the under 20s in the world
rugby doing amazing also. So, what can
you say about the future of Kenya
sports? Do you think it's really in safe
hands? With the exposing
let's say our young young boys and also
girls going out there the under 17. We
have talked talked about they are taking
the the children from grade nine, grade
10s and so. So, they are exposing these
young kids these young talents actually
to to even the this type of a
competitiveness. What can you say? It's
a good way to nurture the talents.
>> Yes, yes. And before I
I get there I think I'd like to add
to the first competition that happened.
Yeah, I think what really caught my
attention to me I think
Ofield. I had
immediately
this guys only took a pool. I think only
I don't know
what time for how many hours.
>> It's only given something that happened
>> [laughter]
>> Yes, yes, yes. So, and
it's really a disappointing cuz I don't
know every time in every major
competition as a country whenever you're
going even outside you sometimes back
issue. Yes, yes, issue. You know about
to me and we figure cool to make what
key to hold of the hotel. I don't know
if you figure they have not even paid
the bills and everything. So, I think
that one there I think we should also
work on that. Cuz I don't know what kind
of gear this is some of the things I
don't know if I know
This are young kids I don't know what I
grow.
Someone maybe
not that passion and you say maybe the
country in future. But I don't know what
you call my easy and I call
disappointed. I don't know what
motivation I don't know what you call
me. So, I I that one also we should work
on that. And uh now to come here to this
other side, I think uh it's a it's a
good gesture as a country.
We've got to work hard to keep up the
that when it comes out to football.
In every day because of the Kenyan
athletics to go with you. But I think
we're going to go to the other side and
uh
to not bother to go to the other side
but I it's a good gesture. We can go to
the other side
to get a good score uh we don't have to
go to the other side. I can go to the
other side to go to the and I get that
courage and everything I can go to the
other side to go to the senior team. I
can go to the other side to go to the
senior team ready ready to compete as a
nation. In big stages.
Yes.
>> Of
away from the KKL first games that took
place. Of course we had the the Green
Cup that is trophy the Green Cup trophy.
We had
the Gor Mahia your very own Nick your
very own Gor Mahia against the the
upcoming we call it youth. They managed
to beat you 2-0. You were 2-0 down. Then
Paul Odhiambo the new signing managed to
get the first equalizing then uh we had
Ben Nazir getting the second goal to
take you to the penalties where you won
on penalties. But judging from what you
played in the Kagame Cup Kagame that is
the Kagame Kagame Cup then what you
played against that final against
Migori. Migori Youth was really was it a
really a headache or you did not really
been you are not really in that game.
>> Uh
there are two teams there are three
teams that that have been promoted from
NSL.
That's Migori Youth.
>> Yeah we have uh
>> 3K FC
>> and also Mombasa.
>> and also Mombasa United.
I've I've followed the three teams.
Uh you see Mombasa United is still um
looking for players looking for coach
uh looking for technical bench.
Migori Youth is settled.
>> Mombasa, they they do have Peter Okidi.
>> Yes, they well, took Peter Okidi, but
you can see they are still trying to
settle.
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, they struggle
even the the last bit of the the NSL.
>> Migori Youth is settled.
Three K FC settled because they also did
a friendly against FC and they drew.
So, if you look at those two teams, they
have joined the KPL with one mission. We
are not going back.
So,
they they they want to fix themselves.
They're like the way Sunderland uh
got promoted last season. And they were
like, "Guys,
we are not going to struggle. We have to
remain here." So, if you see Three K FC
drawing with FC Leopard, Migori Youth
drawing with Gor Mahia.
And these are the big teams that uh
you expect to be competing for the
title. So,
uh it can tell you the preparation these
teams have. So, you Migori Youth is not
an easy team as many people may may
think. They are going to upset a number
of teams once the league began.
And I don't know the role of George Ruto
in that team.
But, I always see him closer to the
patron, Mark Nyamita.
>> [snorts and laughter]
>> So,
so,
so, I think
there is something those people are
doing behind the scene
that
uh even the signings they do, you may
they are not shouting, but they are
quality players that can push a team
forward.
So,
uh they they gave us a run for for for
our money because like you can't say
that that match that we fielded a team B
or a weaker team. We started with the
our strongest team and they were able to
push us to that end to a point that we
had to
to do a comeback.
So, they will compete and
Gor Mahia will compete and as I said
last time that KPL is not going to be
that easy. I have a match Gor is
properly prepared.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh,
AFC Leopards is properly prepared. Uh,
Tusker is properly prepared. Nairobi
United is properly prepared.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh, but the same time if you see teams
like Migori Youth are also there to
to just show these big boys what they
are able to do. And also you you know
Gor is like the
is like the Bayern Munich of KPL.
They can buy any player they want. So, I
think coaches also take advantage of
such. So, they tell their players that
if you play better against them
they are likely to come for you. So, the
only thing that you need to do is to
push yourself. And that's that's what
most players are doing against
against Gor Mahia, against AFC Leopards,
and against Tusker.
>> Mhm.
>> Yeah.
>> Now, maybe coming to your side or maybe
talk about these three teams. Of course,
we have Mombasa United after struggling
to finish up in the number three
position in NSL. Then we have three KFC.
Three KFC, remember in the maybe in the
half beat of the NSL, they were they
were in the number six number seven
position, but they managed to kick all
the way to number two. Then we had
Migori Youth, the current NSL champions.
Now, coming to the new league. Maybe
talk about now the structure of the
league. What do you expect from the
league? And also what do you expect from
your very own FC Leopards?
>> Yeah, it's going to be a tough season.
>> Mhm.
>> Cuz you can tell I think I said we've
seen uh these two teams. We've seen
Migori play against Gor Mahia, K3
against AFC. And we've seen
what they've showed us. They are really
ready. You know, our KPL is the same as
the EPL. You know, surviving
[clears throat]
in there is going to be easy and every
team knows that. Wakikujia pale, this is
a big stage. And uh you need to add up
your squad, your strength, and
everything. And make sure if you want to
really survive, Yeah, they come in next
season Hopefully, ready to go. So, I
think it's going to be a very
competitive season.
Gor Mahia is there. We are ready to go.
AFC also took a bullet. And this season,
I really hope
>> [laughter]
>> You think he's coming home?
>> It's going down to the wire.
>> But I wish you good luck. What I do
believe is last season you had the
better chance.
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
>> But I think this maybe Nick can step in.
Maybe this season you're going to play
in the CAF Champions League. Do you
think you can maybe have a tough journey
in the the EPL because the KPL that is
because of balancing between the two
tournaments?
>> I just said that
that trophy they should just
>> 23rd time now.
>> They they should just give Gor to stay
with it for the 23rd time because uh
You know the striking, the midfield, and
everything we have. And and and also
what what the coach is is pushing.
It's just a different level. I think you
you remember Siraj
Siraj has has run away to Tusker. And I
Gor Mahia was saying that I just told
him that
here we have to compete. But if he has
competition, so he just came to me with
the vice captain that he he wants to
leave. And I asked him why. But you
compete, you get your chance. He doesn't
[clears throat] want to compete. So,
that one can tell you the level of um of
competition that is in that team. So,
with that level of competition,
uh the teams that wants to to snatch
that trophy away from Gor
it is not a matter of gambling.
>> They need to put their money.
>> They really have to be consistent from
the word go. We are about to start KPL.
And I'm telling you from the day one
>> Of course, you're going to to open
against Murang'a Seals. And you have a
tough match.
>> From day one, teams are fighting to do
unbeaten. Gor will be fighting to do
unbeaten. [laughter]
So,
so any team that is coming to snatch
even a point from Gor.
That coach has to do a lot of homework
and the team has to push themselves
beyond their limits.
>> Now, talking country, maybe last season
you were promised the cup, did not
deliver, but you did showed what you can
do. Now, did not finish well, but now
maybe talking about this season. What's
what's what has changed for FC Leopards?
>> I think I think first of all, I like to
counter what Nico said.
When it comes at the cup Champions
League, we've not been having a very
good run.
So, I think that one even though
we know now what they did there during
the Kagame Super Super Cup. I think it
it it will need to go, you know,
we saw
the the the kind of preparation
the teams like
Pyramids
the kind of trainings they were doing. I
think it's going to be
a little bit tough, you know, balancing
the the two. But again, as we know what
they can do. This is the Bayern Munich
of Kenya. And to come here now to the
FC, I think last season we had a very
good run for me. Even though we didn't
I took a manager to get a that title.
But I had a very good run in the longest
time. Who managed a number two
And now this season I think we still
have the squad is there. And
we can give a good fight. I think around
here is going down to the wire.
>> [laughter]
>> Maybe we can make it unique just very
quickly. Maybe talk about now apart from
the new the new the new teams in the
that we have. Maybe talk about
the potential teams that we saw last
season.
So, a little bit Nairobi United doing
showing the glimpse that they can do it
they can do it well. Pamzo with APS
Bomet showed he can do it are well as as
well. What do you expect from maybe
these two teams?
>> Uh the the the teams that I expect to to
to at least
push Gor a little bit is FC Leopards
because I've I've tried to see what the
Ambani brothers are doing.
And also
Nairobi United. Nairobi United have
really invested in that team.
Uh then also
Tusker.
We cannot
underrate Tusker.
Uh
Kenya Police
>> Shabana? Shabana is really convincing
me.
>> Kenya Police is among Shabana and I.
Shabana is where
is where players are going back to
revive their career.
>> [laughter]
>> I think there is also a player who from
Tusker from
Ingavi went went back there to revive
his career. There is also this
>> from Nairobi United
>> former Nairobi United. They are going
back there to revive their career. So,
you know, for a player to revive their
career,
it might take time.
So
So, those are the teams that I can say
they they are there to to to
to push for the for the title.
But there are teams that has come in to
survive.
>> Mhm.
>> Mhm. There are teams that
their strategy like I think even AP is
Bombers Bomet.
Their strategy is to survive in the
league and
they are also going to
to to to be in the mix.
The the heated battle is not about the
title in KPL because title is for Gor
Mahia to lose and Charles Okoth.
The heated battle will be the battle for
relegation.
Yeah, the last one is who are you
predicting?
>> This Muranga Seal might go down.
Muranga [laughter] Seal
Muranga Seal might go down because you
know, they have lost some key players.
From the striker to
to some midfielders.
But I've not seen that that replacement
compared to
to to what other teams have done after
losing a losing a key players.
So, I'm 50/50 with Muranga Seals.
Shabana has to be very careful.
They should not just go for players who
want to revive their career. They should
go for players who wants to compete.
And uh
those are the two teams I'm a bit
worried about. But uh
they they they will be heated battle. In
fact, the interesting game will be the
the bottom five.
>> Now, maybe switching gears, of course,
that the league is about to start this
next week. We are going to now to kick
off the Cape Kenya Premier League. But
now, apart from that, of course, we hear
now the the Super Cup that you mentioned
that is going to be played uh that's
this weekend. We of course Tusker, after
winning the Mozzart Bet Cup, they're
going to face now the the the current
KPL champions, that is Gor Mahia. What
do you expect maybe uh Julian Metre or
even Charles Okello to come to this
match?
>> Yeah, it's it's going to be a good
curtain-raiser.
You know, uh we saw the the the the the
two teams in the Kagame Cup what they
did. Although uh Tusker
uh meaning niliona wali wali they had a
good run for me. Although uh
hawakumanage kutoka group stage. But uh
now tukikuja in this game, I think it's
going to be a tough one
for both teams. Because ukiangalia
Julian Metre also should not be
underrated. And this season, you know,
ako anaprepare. This one I think it's
going to be one of
the the preparation because ukiangalia
both teams, they they they'll be playing
out of the country in the CAF
Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions
League. So, it's going to be a good
curtain-raiser, but you know, Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia wanajua how to to win
trophies. won a lot of trophies.
They know how to win these things. So
they might go with that. They might go
with it but for me as an AFC Leopards
[laughter] fan you know where I'll be.
They'll be on the opposition side.
Maybe Nick switching gears away now from
Kenya maybe talk about the Community
Shield that we had just the other day.
Of course Arsenal facing the mighty
Manchester City. [clears throat] Are
they still the mighty Manchester City or
have things really changed?
I I I I said here last time that not
that Guardiola went for a leave.
Guardiola just ran away from the
trouble. You know it is like you can
work somewhere and you just you just see
that there is things are going to leak.
Yeah, it is like an accountant leaving a
company.
So that's what happened with the
Manchester City.
Manchester City they will they will
really struggle.
They are likely to struggle this season.
I don't know what the coach will do
because the for you to
win any competition
your backline must be organized.
Man City doesn't even if you ask Osano
here he's a
a top top notch Man Manchester City fan.
He can't name a backline that if you ask
him that give us your backline
[laughter] that you can face Real Madrid
with that you can face Barcelona with
that you can face Arsenal with today.
He he doesn't have it. Or Osano am I
lying? I know he doesn't have a solid
one. So there is no solid backline.
Then the anchor of the midfield was
Rodri and Bernardo Silva.
It is it is also scattered. So so Man
City I have a match they may rely the
only person remaining in Man City is
Haaland
because
it was just chaos. If if somebody like a
Scally can shine
>> there will be a lot of problem for them.
>> Mhm.
>> I just love what what what what what
Arteta is doing for us.
>> Mhm.
>> That
in every department like goalkeeper
doesn't want to concede. Defenders
doesn't want goalkeeper to concede. So,
midfield it is just perfect. Striking
you know you you got Rogers and we got
Ziyech. You can see what he's already
doing there.
>> Rogers already has a score, man. Come
on.
>> But
Ziyech you know the boy was killing Man
City with assists.
>> Mhm.
>> Anyway
>> [laughter]
>> Anyway, Arsenal is good and Arteta is
just ready to go for every trophy.
However much people are saying that's
just a community shield.
Gor Mahia is one of the same thing. Any
[laughter] cup in front of you
>> Just take it.
He's going for everything. We are just
praying.
>> Mhm. Maybe our season will be fair to
you.
>> We are just praying we bring in Yildiz.
>> Mhm.
>> Then he brings in Victor Osimhen.
>> He is down for the league. And also
Conceicao is coming to
>> No, Conceicao is already in.
>> Okay.
>> Yes, so
>> I can see how the way you're bragging.
Now we're coming to you maybe talk about
Manchester City. Now without Pep
Guardiola
post Pep Guardiola. Now Enzo Maresca
starting the new just really quickly
because the time is really flying.
Maybe talk about what do you expect from
Enzo Maresca. Which part do you think he
will improve on?
>> First of all, I think speaking about
the the the the the
community shield that we [clears throat]
saw last weekend. I think for the very
first time in
in my life I saw a Manchester City
>> being dominated
>> being dominated.
>> [laughter]
>> You know however much to look at the
loose game during Pep's era. I think we
we are just in the game. We we used to
dominate
>> Mhm.
>> the matches, but now this time round I
think Arteta came in
>> Mhm.
>> I can't kiss you and I tell you to go
dismantle and go separate to kill him
all but again now speaking about the
season. I think it's going to be not an
easy season for us, you know because I
you know losing a
KDB then came Bernardo Silva now Rodri
in back-to-back season I think it had
cost a lot and
now but I don't know hopes to go but now
competing to the for the title this time
round is going to be very hard because I
even so I am Maresca now I am going to
gamble with the squad but I don't see
and I am going to go to any now we had
the structure and everything.
The only thing that we need to add on I
think if we will manage to bring in body
in that midfield and also our defense.
>> body really can replace
bringing Elliot and body Elliot for 100
then body for about 80 million do you
think there is a good replacement for
all?
>> I think I will replace him.
>> to donate Rodri Fernandez.
>> [laughter]
>> For 120 or so.
>> I think to get really I think Rodri can
replace it very hard now I think you
manage to get body in that midfield and
Anderson and then to add I think
this other guy when you are playing the
right back the left back I think you can
get it for some but now this time round
for the title I think it will come soon
but again speaking about Anderson
Maresca. You know we cannot you cannot
judge
10 out of 10 manager with one match so
what they did [clears throat] in the
preseason we won against Atletico Madrid
nobody spoke about it now
and you know this is just Arsenal and
Arteta so I think about it in my opinion
so.
>> I want to say that.
>> [laughter]
>> I think just to help us a bit.
What you people lack the first thing you
don't have a leader in that squad.
>> That's true.
>> And and.
>> It's only Ruben Diaz in that.
>> It is only Ruben Diaz so Rodri was the
leader so you find that the thing that
you need to do.
Is to get somebody like De Bruyne first.
>> Okay.
>> You can bring in you know even even
Guardiola at some point when he just saw
that things were were messing up. He
brought in Gundogan.
>> Yeah, yeah, okay.
>> Once once more time. So, you need a
leader in that midfield. And you can go
back, bring De Bruyne.
>> Mhm.
>> So, that just to help to stabilize
>> and also the leadership.
>> to stabilize the team. You can't rely on
Body. You remember Manchester has a
minor.
>> Mhm.
>> Why why why minor had to play with
Casemiro?
>> Mhm.
>> He needs He needed that leadership. So,
who is going to guide Body? Elliot
>> Elliot cannot do that job.
>> cannot do that job. So, losing somebody
like also Bernardo Silva was also a
mistake. He could have worked with the
the young midfield.
>> Mhm.
>> So, they are young, confused.
Every corner. [laughter] So,
you have a lot of work to do.
>> like Chelsea all over again.
>> [laughter]
>> Anyway, we want to see what will happen
if we just really
read the comments really quickly cuz
we've got Muliza is in Lovu. Lovu in the
end of back-to-back this time. Amari,
who do you think will win the league?
So, I have a few comments here. We have
a Tira Washira
