Video summary

To celebrate the milestone of Episode 600, the host of Jurassic World: The Game sat down for a special interview with key members of the development team at Ludia, including community manager DV, designer Tibo, and product manager Matt. This significant occasion allowed fans to get direct answers from the creators behind the game after more than a decade of play. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, starting with the future content roadmap, where the team explained that while they love creating cross-type dinosaurs like the Poweraptor, the complex animation required for land and aquatic creatures limits how many can be produced at once. They also addressed fan questions regarding the return of Jurassic Park Builder, confirming that while the original game has reached its end, its legacy lives on through Easter eggs in the current title. The interview delved into the technical challenges of bringing specific dinosaurs to life, with the T-Rex and the Indoraptor cited as particularly difficult due to their size and complex animation rigs. The team also clarified why aquatic creatures do not have common or rare variants, explaining that this design choice was made to maintain game progression balance, ensuring players unlock higher-tier creatures only after mastering the basics. Furthermore, they discussed the permanent addition of the Amber Market, which serves as a time capsule allowing players to acquire older content they may have missed, and confirmed that dinosaur level caps will be expanded through new mechanics like "Heroics" rather than simply increasing numbers. Perhaps the most exciting news for the community was the official announcement that guilds are finally coming to Jurassic World: The Game. After teasing the feature throughout recent updates, the developers confirmed that this social element marks the beginning of a major new chapter for the game. They emphasized their commitment to keeping the experience fresh and enjoyable by releasing content at a healthy pace to avoid overwhelming players, while also listening to community feedback on features like adding more dinosaurs to battle rosters. The episode concluded with heartfelt thanks from both the host and the developers to the dedicated fanbase that has supported the franchise for over eleven years, promising even more big ideas and updates in the coming months.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Jurassic World the game. And today is a special occasion because it isn't just a normal episode of Jurassic World the game. No, this is episode 600. So in order to do something special, you will find a little link in the description below for some maybe some extra special resources. But Ludia themselves got in touch with me and asked if I wouldn't mind, you know, doing something special for the episode 600. How about I got to interview them, the people, the creators behind Jurassic World, the game. Lots of things have happened in the last 11 years that I've been playing this. Lots of answers of questions I want to know, like Jurassic Park builderesque questions, maybe. So, without further ado, let's uh get some questions answered, shall we? Uh should we start with introductions, then? >> Of course. Well, let me start. I mean, my name is DV. I'm the associate lead community manager for Jurassic World the game and the other Ludia games and I've been here for literally more than five five years about. >> My name is Tibo. I'm designer on the project since nine years. So, it's been a while. >> Hi everyone. I'm Matt. So, I'm a product manager at Ludia on Jurassic World the game. I've been here for about five six months now, but I worked here about 12 years ago on Jurassic Park Builder as well. >> See, that's why you're you're below the uh Jurassic Park Builder poster. I like it. >> Yeah. Yeah. Good catch. Good catch. >> No, no accidents here. >> Well, I just want to say thank you uh first and foremost for allowing me to, you know, give me this opportunity to get some questions answered by the officials behind the game that I play so much. Uh so I'd like to first start off with the first question. Will we be seeing more cross-type dinosaurs like the Poweraptor for instance? And whoever wants to answer that question. So yeah, the idea is we we really like this kind of [music] dinosaurs like a lot of potential and love we can give. Um but they also take like a bunch of time to make like because it's it's a land creature and an aquatic creature. So we make double automation everything. So we would like to make a lot of them but we can only make a few. So um I know that Matt is working on the road map for next year. So you know maybe some some next year. >> Nothing that could be said though. Not yet. Sh. [laughter] Question two then, uh, what dinosaurs were the most difficult to work on and implement into the game? >> The one that was the most difficult, uh, was definitely the Takanoba because it's big snake. There's lots of segments and animation and the animation team did such a great job on it. But also there were some that were a bit more challenging like for example the first Indoraptor because we had to make the world super hybrid system with super JNA and that or you know even the triceratops uh which we made into an Eric. So we had to make an old feature with with a new animations and abilities and everything. A bunch of them were more intense than expected. >> All of them are intense by that [laughter] if if they need a new rig. >> Yeah, new rig is definitely Yes. My third question I've got written down here is one I I' I've been looking forward to asking officially. Um, and that is, is there any future news about Jurassic Park Builder or has it reached the end of its journey as a community? It's definitely one of those that it keeps popping up. I always see it in my comments every now and again. I'd like to sort of ask you that question. >> I mean, I will gladly take that question, Bever. Uh, I mean, first of all, we just like to thank the whole community, you know, like Jurassic Park builders. Uh, even even when I first arrived at Ludia, like we we have went [music] into like Jurassic World the game. Uh, I think with that being said, I think in terms of like Jurassic World, the game the team is really focused uh onto the game right now. >> Uh, and our goal of course is to make like this game like flourish for like years and years and years to come again in terms of Jurassic the game. Uh, however, we for the big Jurassic Park builder fans, like the legacy fans, we did put some Easter eggs in Jurassic World games. So, [music] if by any mean, you know, the Jurassic Park builder fans, if you can find them, I mean, hey, you can write them in the comments. >> Uh, what are the key factors that determine whether a dinosaur or animal is added to the game? >> Yeah, I'll take this. So, I mean, first off, is it a T-Rex? That's always the first question, I think. [laughter] uh you know kid kitting aside uh is it is it cool does it uh does it bring something different to the park I think that's always important uh we also look at you know in terms of the design are we do we need uh different classes so are we do we need more amphibians do we need a flock yeah and so these these are some of the things for sure and and the big place we like to draw from is is the community so we are on Reddit we're on Discord watching your videos you know we're trying to see what the fans >> so what you're saying is if people chant the dinosaur's name enough. It might come into reality then. >> Yeah, we we hear it. >> Number five, I've got plenty. Uh, were there any mechanics or features that were close to making it into the game but didn't? This is something close to my heart. I always love seeing the inner workings of >> so many and I just been there for 9 years. There were a lot of them that were before my time. We made a bunch of different iteration of stuff, decorations, mini games. We were like, nah, they're not that good. Uh we tried also some turn in intern and they were like oh that's great we will [music] need two years to make it so uh you know we were like okay let's do something else. Yeah so many things >> basically what's good has made it into the game and what didn't just didn't make it basically. >> Yeah. Yeah. I have a pile of what could have been kind of but that maybe one day will be. Uh, and also because of course, uh, you are the company that makes the game, of course, how much input does Universal Studios have in the design of the dinosaur? >> Well, I'll I'll take that. Well, um, I would say first of all, in terms of like our collaboration with Universal, uh, we're pretty much privileged to have like this wonderful collaboration with them. In terms of like their input, I think it's important to know that like both us, Ludia, and both Universal have like the fans at heart. uh we do know that they're a dieh hard fan of like the Jurassic, you know, fans who are really really deep with like the Jurassic [music] franchise or whatn not. So for us, the most important thing for both for both Ludia and for Universal is basically to uh respect like the fans wishes and to make sure that whenever we create, we add some content in Jurassic World the game that it has that impactful like player experience. >> Uh will we ever be able to build an aquatic or a Sun's Oak Park like we were or had in that game? this question. I've seen it a lot in the community. Um, I've even had team members ask me about it here on the on at Ludia. So, it's it's definitely a top requested feature. I think the challenge is definitely there's a lot of art and animation we'd have to do to to create both [music] those parks. Um, it would be timeconuming, not impossible, but timeconuming, but it comes down to the balance of we're we're releasing new content every single month. So, we'd have to find some way of doing both of those at the same time, which right now is a bit of a not a challenge, but it's it's not our top priority, let's say. We have a lot of other stuff in the works. Big things coming and, you know, a bit of a teaser, but you might find out a bit more information at the end of this uh this Q&A. So, >> that's right. Watch the video to the end, guys. [laughter] >> Yeah. Please do. Please do. So, I mean, obviously you you've all you work in sort of different areas and you've also had different backgrounds with the game, but what is each of your favorite hybrid designs or favorite hybrids, I suppose. >> Uh, chromosis. Chrom chromosis. Yeah, chromosis. The the purple one, the purple one. [laughter] If you know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about. Basically, with all the purple glow with the with the tail and everything. There's this one. >> I have a really soft spot for feather dinosaur like Sarasinosaurus and Udon. like you don't was when I came in just you don't really release. So >> I think I just like anything with a T-Rex would be great. Yeah, I'll just stick to that. >> You just love T-Rex. [laughter] >> Well, I mean that's that's like a doubles Rex, Toronto. It's loads. There's loads of them. >> It's just the best ones. >> But one thing that I I noticed when aquatics were and were introduced to the game was that there was no common or rare classes for those species. And I was wondering if we could get any clarification as to why the choice was to not include those. >> For this one, it comes down to progression. at the end of the day is is when you start the game, you're in the Jurassic, so you get a lot of commons and rares that you can fuse together, level up your creatures, and kind of get a hang of the game. By the time you unlock aquatic and such is you're much further along, and so we put more more quality or meaning on those creatures by having higher rarities. Um, so that that's the biggest reason. It's just in terms of the progression of the game. You naturally come into higher higher level, higher tier creatures and uh you get to start from there and kind of build out stronger ones. With that in mind, >> that's that's probably what I thought was was the case cuz to at that point when you unlock the park or at least when I was playing the game to go back to commons, it would feel a bit okay, here we go again. So, I thought that was I just kind of wanted clarification on that. And speaking about, you know, the progression and and that, one of the um the additions to the game was the amber market. And I wanted to ask uh what was the inspiration behind the amber market and is it a permanent addition? I can answer pretty quickly. It's permanent for sure. That's that's a that's a staple for us. Um, you know, the amber market's an we've been out for 11 11 years. >> 11 our 12th year now. It's it's crazy. So, there's been a ton of content that's been released over the years that, you know, players have missed if they're just logging in or coming into the game for the first time. So, the amber market's one of those um those channels for players to get get that older content. [music] Um, and with with the collecting amber, you also have a bit more control and flexibility. So you can pick, you can save up and get what you want if you know you can you can have a bit more choice there. Um so yeah, it's it's permanent and I think at the end of the day it's a time capsule which I think is a pretty good way of of uh thinking of the amber market. So it's it's here to stay. >> Right. Right. I I mean I remember when I was playing it it felt like it was a tournament every week or almost a new tournament creature and then if you didn't get that tournament creature you know the cycle you might have to wait I don't know it was months at some point. So that's actually something I didn't think about was a way to allow people to not wait ages for the next one but to access it through the market there. Are there any plans to increase the dinosaurs level cap and or the players own level cap? because I noticed that hasn't changed for a while either. And with games like I think Jurassic World Alive that I've seen uh I think there is a increase in the level cap of the dinosaurs in that one. So is that come to dress world the game? >> Dinosaur levels heroics are the answer to that one. So instead of moving numbers necessarily we introduce new features or new mechanics, new moves that they could use [music] um and a bit more progression on the creature but to make it you know fun and meaningful when you get there and start to level it up. Um, so it's a new way for players to go strategize, build out their roster, do battles. Uh, so that's the big one for for dinosaur levels and stay tuned. There's more heroics coming. We're definitely still working on them. On player level, that's an interesting question. I think it's one that I have as well is uh we'd want it to be meaningful if we're going to do anything after level 99. Uh, so we don't have anything planned or built yet, but that's one I would turn back to, you know, the fans of the game. might be really curious to hear feedback like what would be something meaningful or what would you like to see after level 99. It's something that's uh I would say it's on my radar. >> When you get to level 100, you unlock the aquatic park. [laughter] >> I see a good incentive. I like >> So, as the game continues to expand, obviously with new new dinosaers and features, what's your approach to making sure everything still feels cohesive and enjoyable to like the players like new and old? >> Uh I can take this one. Uh first of all, let's take a look at like Jurassic World the game. Uh it's going to be out there for 11 12 years, guys. 11 12. >> Uh so in terms of that, like we there's a lot of content uh there's there's a lot of like dinosaur content features and whatnot. And I think one of the thing that happens uh in these tropes of game is that there may be um how can I say perhaps like um a way to like keep like the content like fresh and unique in order for us to like avoid like repetitiveness and whatnot. So our team is already is always and I think this has been like the mantra for like the last 11 years and hence why we're here and what we're planning to say for like the 10 years is that to find like unique features [music] uh for the players like to be engaged and also like the second part is in terms of releasing uh the content at a healthy pace because in a way we do not want to overload players with like different content so that at at the end of the day it becomes more of a chore or like a homework to like complete everything within a set load of time. So we just want to make sure that like players like get to enjoy the game while we release things at a very healthy pace so that they can pretty much enjoy >> how much time we have. We have only that much time in the day uh and in each update. So we're trying to improve the game uh on on what we can all the time kind of. >> Yeah. I think after 12 11 12 years there's a lot of things that created and we have to sometimes go revisit them. >> Yeah. >> And so we're always looking for those opportunities. I think the boss is a good example. >> Um the boss Yeah. Yeah, the hybrids and you know to throw back to the amber market question as well is the boss with the boss battles you're get more amber which will help you unlock more stuff through the amber market. So these are things that were worth looking at and trying to make the entire system uh you know friendly for the players and also an avenue to get the kind of content that they're looking for. when you gave me this opportunity, I thought I would turn um the the questions also to my community who some I'm sure have been here for a very long time, Jos Builder Days and all that. And if they could ask you any question, what would they like to ask you? And [laughter] I mean, I mean, that's obviously an open-ended question. Could be anything, but the one that kept on, you know, coming to the surface was, uh, are there plans to add Karodonttosaurus? I didn't even realize this was such a big thing, but apparently it is. So, I'd like them to have their question answered. >> Let me ask you, why like what is up with with I mean, the name is like something, so I'll just say call it KA, but like what's what's up with Karka? What's up with KA? Like, why is the community so like Ka this, Cara that? That's going to sound wrong. But why Karka? Why are they mentioning [laughter] Ka? What's up with Ka? Is it a meme? Is it like is this the new trend? >> I don't know. I don't know. Call. It's >> well in regards to that I will say we will bring it high up to the uh production team and we'll see what we could do about it. >> I think it's it's either hardcore fans who want to see the original roster of Jurassic Park builder completed. Uh I mean it to Brachio wasn't in the in dressing world the game for such a long time as well. No, [laughter] I was there. >> Could could you say it car because I'm I'm trying to like remember car [laughter] um let me ask you some question that we as a team like has also um picked up for you here. >> Oh, thank you. >> So, so for the greatest gaming beaver, let me ask you out of all the dinosaurs [music] and hybrids in the game, which one is your all-time favorite to use in battles and why? So that's interesting because you say to use in battle, not not designwise. So to use in battles, it has to be Indoraptor because once you get that level one, there's so many times I've used that in tournaments. It it's recharge uh price is really quick. Like it's it speeds up very quickly. It's very cheap. And then you have the you know, you can make it level 40 if you want or you could have 12 level ones, which in tournaments are really useful. So maybe it's a boring answer for my fans that oh you know but indirective for me. >> Second question. Uh so this I like this one. So a lot of your viewers watch dur watch your Jurassic World the game videos to learn strategy. So what's one tip or trick you wish you know when you first started playing? >> Ooh when I first started I thing I wish I knew I mean when I started playing it was all new so there was no obviously there was no no playbook. it would be to to to get up to certain hybrids cuz obviously hybrids need ingredients so they need other uh dinosaurs. Then obviously you want those ingredients. So you want the Indominus Rex which means that you want the T-Rex and Velociraptor. So I think working like having a goal and then working backwards like a skill tree almost to see what dinosaurs and then you know there are certain dinosaurs I think in the game that don't have hybrids. So maybe don't buy those ones with the DNA where you could save up and spend it on something to make Indominus Rex. >> Third question. Uh so Jurassic World the game has been around for a while and keeps evolving. Uh so what's the biggest change you've seen [music] in the game since you started creating content? >> Oo a big change for me I remember was the inclusion of the bosses uh of of that sort of raid style. Um, and I I remember when that first came out and then it was more than one boss and then like the Valkyrie came out and Salamander came out and that sticks in my head, especially for creating content, recording in secret as if I was going to use the footage later, I did three of two of the bosses and on the third one I I I think I did some funny thing. Oh, I've only had a time machine. I could go back and play the the boss that you can't play anymore. And I think there's one video on my channel where I I then went back and recorded as if I had gone back and uh did those bosses. So yeah, I think that one was a big one. And I think it was also the first time that I did a a skit, I think, for the bosses where I I I walked up some hill in LA, I think it was. I can't remember. >> Do you have a favorite event or theme from Jurassic World the game that you love covering or something that still stands out when you think back on >> the tournaments? I remember or at least the first the one that sticks to my memory was the Moses because I thought, "Oh yeah, you know, we'll just keep going around and I I'll just keep playing it. It'll be an hour, two hours, 3 hours, whatever, and then turn 5 hours into 6 hours [laughter] and then turn into uh two days without sleep." And I I I still remember vividly being like living with my parents at the time and just, you know, doing the battle and going through and then all of a sudden that fabled Moses spin and just just instantly getting up and going, "Right, no. just got to got to record this. I can't comment if it's happened finally. [laughter] And then from there, it just became every time a tournament came out, it would be a super long episode going all the way to the Dominator League and and then leaving it there just so people could see what kind of dinosaurs you would need or what level your dinosaurs you could get up to. >> Um, all right. If you could bring one dream feature or addition to Jurassic World the game, what would it be and why? >> You say one. It's cruel. It's cruel. One one feature. We already mentioned it earlier, um, which was the glacier and aquatic parks. A very nostalgic thing to me. Even some footage I saw not too long ago of, you know, going through and clicking the krill icon and the the the fish icon. Oh, I remember the day. So, some other people do. But, uh, you know, obviously that's its own sort of thing. A way to use more than one dinosaur in a battle. That would be quite interesting. I know that we have like a bit of a rotation. You swap in and swap out. But I I there was one thing I always made was thumbnails with multiple dinosaurs on on on one side and that always looked so cool to me. A dream maybe. Maybe maybe that's it. A dream. [laughter] >> What's one thing however you're hoping to see come to Jurassic World the game? >> I mean when it comes to the game or I I've never really known what was going to come around the corner. It was always like oh well a new tournament creature and and stuff like that. But when, for instance, the bosses were added. Had no idea that was coming. The uh the raptors as well of the uh the enclosure that was that came out of nowhere uh with with the mods. Uh so I don't know. I don't know what I would You can't ask the the the bread what he wants to be buttered. You need you need the the creative. >> That's right. I tried. Our team is there to listen to that. So with with that in mind though, what could the players we've asked, you know, what I want, what you guys liked, but what what what could the players expect from the future of Jurassic World the game uh after over a decade now, over a decade of adventures? >> I did tease it earlier. I did say we'll have an announcement. So um you know, the team's been honestly the whole team's been really hard at work for the last year, years really. [music] Um, but specifically over the last year or so on on one one foundation of a feature that's coming soon. And we thought it'd be fun for for Gaming Beaver's 600th episode to come here and announce [music] it officially here on YouTube with Gaming Beaver. Um, and you you know, you've seen some teasers. You see player profiles just came out. You might be wondering why. Well, officially I can tell you all that guilds is coming finally to Jurassic World the game. It's the start of something big. We have big big ideas in mind. It's the it's it's the beginning. So stay tuned for more information. We'll have plenty more coming out after this video on our own channels, so keep an eye out for those. Um, but yeah, just just just a little bit of information. Uh, I don't know, Game Beaver, what are your thoughts? Are you excited to start a guild? You think you'll have enough people to fill it? [laughter] >> Well, it depends how many how many slots it can have, I suppose. >> I'll never I'll never tell you. [laughter] >> I I know the I know the number, but uh >> not enough. Not big enough. I'm I'm sure players have questions. Like I said, we'll have more information coming, but uh you might have might have seen some some nods to this throughout the, you know, online and and speculation, but we can officially confirm it now. So, we're really looking forward to sharing that update with you in in the coming months. >> Oh, thank you. I can't wait. I can't wait to see what you've got in store. The fact that you say it's the start of things. >> I like I like that excitement. I like that excitement. allow me gaming beer actually to on behalf of Ludia just to congratulate you for like your 600 episode. Uh you've been rocking with us since the start. Uh and it has been always it's always forever a pleasure to like collaborate with you. But also most importantly we want to thank the community. We've been standing here for about 11 12 years and we know we wouldn't have been able to do it without without you guys and we're here to stay. >> Yes. And thank you beautiful beaver babies who have watched my videos. Let's bring the aura. Let's bring the aura. Let's bring the aura. [laughter] >> And thank you for uh for allowing me to ask the questions and um supporting uh me in the many ways that you do. And >> I mean, we could we could play the thank you game. >> We could we could be here forever. That's right. Close the video. Bye. >> And a big thank you to you guys who have been watching for 11 years now with Jurassic World the game. back when I ran home with my iPad, not knowing exactly how to even think about recording it, but did it anyway. And then I think at episode four, just being overwhelmed with the response from the community and uh how much support I got from you. I wouldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for stuff like that that you did. So, thank you so much. And here's to episode 601. I'll see you later. Oh, bye-bye. >> [music] [music]
