Hey, hey, I'll tell you a secret. I can
connect the picto blocks in four
different ways, not just one.

about the four different methods of
connecting Intellio with Pictoloss,
right? And that's why we are here. Hey.
Hey everyone. This is AI and welcome
back to Quirky Intel series. In today's
videos, we are going to explore four
different ways of connecting Intelio
with Pictoblocks step by step. Plus we
will also see if you face any connection
issues so we will solve it instantly. So
make sure you watch till the end to also
understand when to use which method.
Step one open pictoblocks. If you
haven't downloaded pictoblocks yet you
can click on this link or click on the
link given below in description. After
that choose your operating system and
click on download installer. Once
downloaded you can follow these steps to
install it. Once installed, open
pictoblocks and choose the block holding
environment. Then click on board and
select Intelio as a board and choose the
first Wi-Fi router option.
Now enter the same Wi-Fi name and
password to which your laptop is
connected currently and make sure your
Wi-Fi is running on 2.4 GHz band as
Intel supports only 2.4 GHz network.
Check if your systems Bluetooth is
turned on or not. If it is turned on,
great. Now as the next step, click on
next. Do select your Intelio serial
number which is next to the power switch
over here. Mine is AD2A.
Intell's RGB LED will turn green as you
can see on Bluetooth connecting
successfully. Now it's RGB LED will
blink yellow while connecting. Once the
connection is successful, you will see
the RGB LED glow yellow continuously.
Then click on go to editor.
Now we can click on this camera icon to
see if it's actually connected.
Yes, it is connected. See, similarly,
you can follow the same steps to connect
on Mac OS 2. Now in case if your
connection fails, if you see a red LED
over here or you see this message in
pictob blocks, now what are the
possibilities of issue which can happen?
So let's troubleshoot that one by one.
So first of all, are you using the
correct Wi-Fi network? Which means your
quirky Intel supports only 2.4 GHz
network. So check your Wi-Fi if it's
connected to 2.4 GHz network only.
Remember
working Intellio will not work on 5 GHz
network. Now if this was correct, it was
2.4 GHz. Now what could be the second
problem? Now let's check the Wi-Fi
details. Check your Wi-Fi name and the
password if it is correct or incorrect.
And make sure your device which means
your laptop and quirky Intellio are
connected on the same network which is
in my case AI Intelio.
Now the next issue could be that your
interior is not showing on the looking
for devices screen either on Bluetooth
or on USB. Now first check if your
systems Bluetooth is turned on or not.
If it is turned on, great. Now you can
click on this reset button
on your Qui Intellio and wait for 2 to 3
seconds for Intellio to reboot. You will
see the multiolor animation over here
and the blue LED lighting up. And now we
can connect it once again by clicking on
refresh.
Majorly this will solve all your issues
and you can find the name of your quirky
printed over here and similarly on
Bluetooth over here as well.
Now you can reconnect and start coding
instantly. Now let's see the second
method. Now if you don't have a Wi-Fi
router nearby, you can use your device
as a mobile hotspot. Now the initial
steps will be same. Go to the board tab
on the top menu and choose perk intell
over there. Then click connect. Now over
here we will choose the second option
which is device as mobile hotspot
option. In Mac OS it will be as internet
sharing. Make sure your device is
connected to proper internet connection
in this method. Now turn on the hotspot
on your device by clicking on this open
button and make sure your Wi-Fi band is
set to 2.4 GHz.
If not, you can change it like this from
5 GHz to 2.4 GHz. You can note down the
hotspot name and password or also you
can customize and change it.
Make sure the same details you will have
to enter in Pictoblocks over here. and
then click on next. It will go on
Bluetooth connection option or you can
also choose USB connection option too to
send the details securely to quirky
Intellio. Now make sure you choose the
correct name of your Intellio. From here
it will be connected via Bluetooth. It
will show green LED. Now you will see
yellow LED blinking while it's trying to
connect to Pictor blocks. Once connected
you will see steady yellow LED like
this.
Now once the connection is successful,
click on go to editor over here
and then we can click on camera icon to
see if it's streaming.
Yes, it is. So now we are ready to code.
Now in case of your connection fails,
you see the red LED on your Intel or you
see this screen. What are the
possibilities? Why is it showing an
error and why is it not connecting? The
first possibility could be that your
hotspot is not on 2.4 GHz network. So
you can check that. Make sure your
mobile hotspot is turned on on your
device and set the network band to 2.4
GHz like this on Windows and similarly
like this you can change it on MacOSS as
well in the internet sharing option and
make it 2.4 GHz.
Now second possibility could be that
your device is not showing over here on
the looking for devices screen.
In this case you can press the reset
button on Intel over here.
It will take 2 to 3 seconds to boot up
and you will see a multiolor animation
over here and then steady blue LED. This
means Intelio has been reset. After that
you can click on refresh and check once
again.
You can find the quirky interel's name
over here on this side which is AD2A for
me. Similarly over here we I can connect
it again.
One more reason for not showing the
device over here could be that your
systems Bluetooth is not on. So make
sure you switch on your systems
Bluetooth as well.
Remember
the hotspot must remain active during
this entire process and make sure your
device has an active internet connection
too because sometimes the reason for it
to not connect properly would be lack of
internet.
Now one more possibility could be that
you have entered the wrong hotspot name
or password. Make sure you maintain the
case if it is small case or capital case
and then similarly you type it over here
as well in pictoblocks. So make sure you
correct that. Now majority of the issues
must get solved at this stage.
Now let's see the third method now which
is Intel as a hotspot. This method is
perfect for offline learning because it
does not require internet. So in the
connect window after you choose the
board select Intel as a hotspot then
click on autogenerate to create a
hotspot name or password or also you can
create your own name and password too.
I'm going to create an autogenerate.
Now Pictoblocks will scan for nearby
Intel devices through Bluetooth or USB.
Then select your device and click on
connect.
Once you see this as green, next open
the Wi-Fi settings on your laptop
and connect to Intel hotspot name same
shown on your screen with the same
password. When it's connecting, you will
see yellow LED blinking and then steady
LED once connected. Return to Pictolocks
and then click on next, which means now
it is connected.
Once connected, you can go to editor and
over here you can switch on the camera
and see if it has started streaming or
not.
Great, it has started.
So I hope this method was clear as well.
Now let's say if you're not able to
connect for some reason, what should you
do next? So step one, first we'll find
what is the error or problem and then we
will troubleshoot it. So the first
problem could be that you haven't
connected to Intellia's hotspot
properly. Your Wi-Fi name or password
could be wrong. So what you need to do
is you need to go to your systems Wi-Fi
settings and check the hotspot name and
password if it's correct or not. If it
is not correct then correct it over here
and then try to reconnect
and then this issue must get solved.
Now second issue could be that your
Wi-Fi the hotspot of Intel is not
showing in your Wi-Fi list on your
system. So it may take some seconds you
know to show this Intel hotspot on your
settings. So patiently wait and if it's
not showing then you can reset your
Intellio by pressing over here
and then wait for few seconds for
Intellio to boot up. After the multiolor
animation when blue LED turns up then
you will try to reconnect again by
following the same steps and this time
your Intellio must get connect.
Now next issue could be that your Intel
device is not showing on looking for
devices screen. So in that case first of
all check your systems Bluetooth if it
is turned on or not. If it is turned on
then in that case you wait for a few
seconds and then try to reconnect
and if it's not showing up still then
you will reset again your Intellio
and then try to reconnect.
Majority of your issues must get solved
over here in this step. Now note it is
important to remember that in this
method of connection your computer or
your laptop will not have a internet
connection and that is completely
normal. So remember that. Now the last
method which is connecting it with IP
address. Now you will use this method
when Intelio was previously connected to
your device via Victor blocks. So you
can use this method for a faster
connection now. But how? Now to connect
interior first as a step one I'll long
press the L button
until I see yellow LED blinking.
You can see that now it will autoconnect
to previously connected devices. Now you
can see steady LED which means it is
connected. But now to connect Picto
blocks you have to choose the fourth
option in the connection window. It will
auto fetch the IP address of previously
connected device.
Then you can click on connect.
Now see it's connected. We can click on
the camera icon and see if it's actually
streaming.
Yes, it is. So now here instead of
connecting through Wi-Fi setup again we
directly connect Intel with pictoblocks
using its IP address which is much
faster. Similarly you can connect like
this in Mac OS as well. This method is
also useful when you're using upload
mode with USB.
Now in case your this method connection
fails what are the possibilities of the
errors which are happening? Let's see
that. Now step one remember that this IP
address method only works when Intel has
been already connected earlier. So if it
was connected via Wi-Fi router method or
via mobile hotspot or internet sharing
on Mac OS with these two methods you
will always long press the L button to
reconnect via that method. So I'll press
that
till the yellow blinking starts.
Now in case you were previously
connected with Intel as a hotspot
method. So in that case you will long
press the
R button.
Now once your Intellio is connected
let's say your PtoBlocks is not able to
fetch the IP address.
So in that case reset your Intel again.
Click on the reset button and try to
reconnect again. It should be able to
fetch the IP address.
For some reason, if it is not able to
fetch the IP address still, you can copy
paste and keep the IP address saved
somewhere when you were connected
previously with any of the method and
then paste it over here manually as well
and then try to reconnect again and I'm
sure it will reconnect.
Now, when you're troubleshooting
connection issues, always check this
basic things. What are the things?
Number one, use the latest version of
Pictoblocks.
Then select the camera and audio device
as Intelio always.
Then make sure your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
is always on on your device.
And then use the reset button often if
you still face issues
and wait for a few seconds after each
step before trying it again. Running
into an IP connection fail on Windows?
It is usually just your Windows firewall
blocking the UDP communication. Here is
a super quick fix. First, hit Windows
plus R.
Type WFMSC
and press enter.
Click on inbound rules on the left and
look for pictob blocks in the list. If
you see a red cross icon, your
connection is definitely blocked. Just
double click it, select allow the
connection, hit apply, and then okay.
Now, if pictoblock isn't even on that
list, no stress. Just click new rule on
the right panel.
Hit next and browse for the
pictoblocks.exe
file.
Make sure you allow the connection.
Apply it to domain private and public.
Hit next. Type in pictoblocks
and click finish.
Now you can also connect Intel via
serial port which you will be mainly
using for updating the firmware or
uploading the code. Now if you
continuously face connection issues what
you can do is try updating the firmware
once. So to update the firmware I will
connect Intelio
via USB cable.
Then I will go to connect
and go to serial port and connect Intel.
Now you can see this upload firmware
button. I will click over here and
upload the firmware.
Now all your issues will get solved
after this step.
Now very important question when to use
which method. Now remember these points.
Now you will use the method one which is
via Wi-Fi router at home or school where
you have a stable internet connection at
2.4 GHz network. Then method two which
is device as hotspot or internet sharing
in Mac OS. You will use that when your
Wi-Fi router is not available. Now
method three which is Intel as a hotspot
you will use that method majorly for
offline learning where you do not
require internet. Now you will use the
fourth method which is via IP address.
when you're reconnecting, debugging, or
you are in upload mode.
