Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is the PERFECT Switch 2 Game

Huge thanks to Bandai for sponsoring this video. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is one of the best ports I've played and I'm currently playing on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is coming from someone who completely beat the entire game on both PlayStation 5 and PC. Now, when the game was announced that it was coming to Switch 2 a while ago, I was really waiting on this because this game is massive and I wanted to really experience this game on both docked and handheld. And now that I have it on the Switch 2, let's get into it. If you're first wondering if Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is even worth picking up for the first time on Nintendo Switch, the answer is absolutely yes. This isn't an ordinary game. This is game of the year. This is a multi-generational game. Over 30 million copies sold. The game has 238 boss fights. Giant map with multiple regions, caves, dungeons, full underground cities, and much more. And the Tarnished Edition includes the base game plus the massive expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. I mean, we're talking about over 150 plus hours of content and Nintendo Switch 2 owners can finally get their hands on this game. I tried my best to get as much footage as possible in this video and I'm happy to report that the game did run smooth for me and I had zero issues while I was playing the game besides the bosses destroying me, but we'll get into that. When you start a brand new game, you get to first choose the class that you want based on your play style. On the Tarnished Edition, you get all the base game classes, but you specifically get two brand new starting classes that you could choose from. This is the Idas Knight who has these specific stats and this is the Heavy Knight who has distributions in these stats. After that, you can customize your character and you don't have to worry because there's a way to change your character later in the game. You're never locked into one appearance. And the game will begin. Also, don't worry if you lose to this boss, you can come back later on in the game and completely defeat it. Most people lose at this boss fight. After this, this is where the game actually truly begins. Now, I just really want to talk about how amazing this looks on the Nintendo Switch too. This is amazing. Wow. This game, like I mentioned before, it's absolutely massive and there are just so many regions in this game, each of them so unique. We got Limgrave, which is the opening one you saw filled with green fields, there's ruins and you got Stormveil Castle on the cliffs. Then you have Liurnia of the Lakes, which is a completely different shift and vibe from the previous one. It's pretty much this flooded lowland area and there's like shallow water that you can go across. You also have this big magical academy called Raya Lucaria in the middle and you can go inside of that entire academy and it's just massive. Then you have a place called Caelid, which is this rot-infected wasteland. The atmosphere here is extremely red, there are a ton of scary enemies, basically death all around you and it's a place you just don't want to be in too long. I suggest you don't come here early even though your character can get there. You also have the Altus Plateau, which has a ton of golden fields. This is where the Royal Capital lies and it's also another very high-level area. This is personally my favorite area of the game. And then you can also enter into that same capital city, which is its own massive area, which has a ton of secrets there too. Then you have another area called the Mountaintop of the Giants, which is a complete snowy, icy area. It's just very cold, the atmosphere there. There's just a bunch of giants laying around there, tons of enemies as well. But the one thing that you should note about this entire thing is that all these locations and environments are filmed on my Switch too. I'm playing on the Switch too and the fact that you can just pick up your Switch too and go and just enter these beautiful areas, ah, it's just amazing. Essentially, what I'm getting at is that all the atmospheres in this game are elite and you'll be fully immersed into it. Now, if If think the overall was just it when it comes to Elden Ring, nope. There is an entire underground map to explore below the surface. It is insane how big it is as well, and it looks beautiful. Again, you're just looking at my Nintendo Switch 2 gameplay. Now, also in the game, there are dungeons in Elden Ring. I like to call them legacy dungeons because they're very large and they're interconnected areas in there. And at the end of these dungeons, you're going to be facing off against iconic bosses that once you beat them, you then will progress. And what you experience when it comes to some of these bosses in the game is going to drive you absolutely insane. But once you beat them, you're going to feel like a complete accomplished gamer. I think it's one of the best parts. I know it'll probably stress you out for a little bit playing these fights, but it helps you to get better and better, and you can start reading enemies better. Really interesting skill you get. There's also a ton of overworld exploration not related to the main story at all that you can do. There are caves, there are dungeons, there are catacombs, there are secret areas and different pathways. There are just a ton of secrets to be discovered when you're playing this game. One of the best parts about exploring is when you encounter this fog wall here, and then when you walk through it, this is really where the fun begins because it's always going to be a different boss fight. And my favorite part is seeing what drops after you beat the boss fight. It could be a spirit ash, which is going to be a summon, could be a really cool weapon, a really important item. You never know what you're going to get. Also, if you're worried about the size of the map and traveling when you're playing Elden Ring, there's fast travel in the game, and at these sites of grace, you also get to level up with a bunch of runes that you get from defeating enemies and do a lot of upgrades there. There's also a mount you get in the game called Torrent that you can get right at the start of the game by going over to this site of grace. Now, Torrent is extremely useful in traversal because you can go to places you normally can't get to on foot, and it has a nice little double jump. And the best part about it on the Tarnished Edition is that you can get skins for Torrent, which I talked about, which wasn't previously in Elden Ring, but now it's in this version. So far, I found two skins in the game, which is pretty nice. But here's one that I found. So it's cool that you can do that. Now this one's pretty big, but let's talk about difficulty and the combat of the game. Now just because this game is on Nintendo Switch 2, doesn't mean there is an easy version of the game. There's actually no difficulty setting at all. This game has its own standard difficulty, but there are enough resources online with various builds and setups to make the game as easy as you want it. Heck, you can go into a boss fight with an NPC assisting you along with your own summons, but in this game those summons are known as spirit ashes. So you can have a whole group team up against a boss to defeat them faster. You can over level in certain aspects so your weapons become stronger, upgrade your weapons. There are a ton of ways to make the game easier, but it's just a matter of how you play, and it's totally up to you. And that's one of the best parts about Elden Ring is that you can play the game the way you want, and that's all that matters. And when it comes to combat, and I mentioned this earlier, but the best part is defeating a boss after struggling so much. I've probably gotten better in so many other games just because I played Elden Ring and can understand when to dodge, when to parry, when to do all these crazy moves, and make decisions based on how the boss is acting. It really just comes down to learning their phase one, and then after you master their phase one, you start to learn phase two, and then eventually you will beat the boss. It's pretty much try again until you succeed. Yes. Oh my gosh, he's finally dead. Let's talk about multiplayer for the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition. Now, because of Nintendo Switch 2's game chat feature, being able to communicate and coordinate in Elden Ring while fighting bosses is going to be a lot easier. And to explain my experience while playing this game, I had zero issues with online functionality and playing it, it felt much easier now than it did back then. Now, in Elden Ring, you have to make sure that you go into your network settings and turn on this option here for send summon sign. This is going to be really important if you are the player being summoned to your friend's world. Now, as you can see in this gameplay that I tested out with my friend, we have no issues going back and forth between my world and their world. If you're entering their world, your character is going to look more little cute colored, like little red colored, and if they come to your world, they're going to look a certain way, orangish red. You just have to make sure that you enable the exact same multiplayer password. That is very, very important. Otherwise, you won't see each other or be able to summon each other. Now, if you're trying to go to your friend's world, you're going to go to the multiplayer menu and use this item called Tarnished Furlcalling Finger, and that's basically going to line up the spot where they're going to summon you and bring you in. And if you're trying to summon them to your world, make sure you're communicating with them that they put down their sign, and then you're going to use this crafted item called a Furlcalling Finger Remedy. You'll see their sign on the ground, and you can summon them in, and you're going to have so much fun cuz we had absolutely an insane time taking down bosses together, and then you figure out that you can juggle the bosses back and forth. So, when your friend attacks them, my friend's a mage, it'll draw the enemy's attention, and then I'll go around smack the boss, and the boss turns at me, and we completely juggle up an enemy. And then once you defeat it, it is so satisfying. And the best part about this is you can do this docked or portable. That is the crazy part. I still cannot believe you can play this portable. This is nuts. One of the best parts about Elden Ring Tarnished Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2 is the fact that you have portability. Being able to pick up your Nintendo Switch from docked mode into handheld mode is probably one of the best things ever, because playing a Souls-like game isn't that simple. You can't just get up and go somewhere and come back because there's consequences to that. But luckily with the Switch 2, you can just keep grinding while playing anywhere you want after you're done taking it off dock mode. I could sit down on the floor, hang out with my dog, lay down on my couch, relax and play even though it's a very stressful game and there's a lot of big boss enemies. You can destroy dragons in handheld mode. So, there's tons that you can do and I think that is probably the best part about Elden Ring Collector's Edition on the Nintendo Switch 2. Now, let's talk about the expansion on Elden Ring, which is massive and it's 30 to 40 hours more gameplay that you can get when you're playing it. And I'm actually currently on this expansion right now as I'm making this video, having a blast by the way. And it has its own entire areas. Now, the best part about the expansion is you don't have to beat the base game in order to access this expansion. All you have to do is beat two bosses in your base game, which they're not easy, but all you have to do is just beat these two bosses. The first one is General Radahn, who is this absolutely terrifying boss who as soon as you spawn into his arena shoots you with arrows from across the entire map and just you just go down. He also has massive swords and uses gravity magic in combat, but I'll let you experience that fight for yourself if it's your first time playing. There's also another terrifying boss that you have to beat called Mog, who is basically the lord of blood. And this blood he throws at you and it explodes. I know, absolutely crazy. But once you defeat them, you can enter into the DLC and you can enjoy yourself. It's just good options to have that you can go to the DLC and then go back to the base game and finish up the main base game boss. It's nice. Honestly, even minus the fact that this is a sponsored video, I would have still made a video on this game because of how this is one of my favorite games of all time and that it's massive. And the fact that it's finally on the Nintendo Switch 2. As mentioned, I had no issues queuing up with friends online and the game runs smooth for me with zero issues. And honestly, with Elden Ring on your Nintendo Switch 2, you have the complete Elden Ring experience, which includes the base game and the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. You get new armor sets, customizable Torrent appearances, and two new starting classes. And the best part is these new features are also available on other platforms as the Tarnish Pack.
