EFAP TV: Reacting to Halo S02E06 - Onyx

we're here with the next episode of uh what could be construed as a Halo television show this is everything that you wanted and more we're finally getting it a liveaction highish budget Halo show and boy good stuff after the last episode I was riveted I'm confused we're watching Forward Unto Dawn I thought we were watching the Halo TV show this is John halo the Master Chief and boy he's going to go in no he's not he's just John Hal yes and he's out for blood but my God Spartan 3s isn't that exciting not really makes me scared yes they are going to do the Spartan 3s on the planet onx maybe you've heard about it from that Hal Time full of reach is done we only have three episodes left right yes we this is an eight episode season so we are running out of time so they're going to do Onyx and John Halo's John Wick and then we're going to get the Halo We're going to get to Halo but there needs to be need to be another big battle I think there's got to be one more big action set piece but I don't even I don't even know what that's going to look like or how it's going to play out because it is very difficult to ascertain what the [ __ ] they are doing right now just to be clear this is an adaptation live action of uh Obby and the chief well it's a very very Unfaithful adaptation I got to say God damn there's nothing clever about anything going on there hasn't been like one clever line one witty piece of dialogue dude we have to settle for [ __ ] subtext oh wow good job guys subtext yeah like there might there might be some subtext in a few scenes remember the last episode they were like that's all you got and then the big guy comes down he's like damn it I shouldn't have said anything and then John Hal's like yeah you should stop talking what riveting it it is actually pretty funny how bad it's gotten to where a scene that's okay is like an accomplishment in this show and we haven't had one of those since episode three episode 4 marked the end of anything that was slightly better than season one not just okay though but a point that matters to the story remember how much time we spent on that [ __ ] funeral damn whole episode and you know I think normal people would be like there's nothing wrong with having a whole episode for funeral was like oh oh you don't know what I mean I mean it really was like an entire episode of filler I don't know how they could have afforded it given what they have to narratively accomplish with the rest of the season that's because they are astoundingly incompetent and they've done this before I mean season 1 had a whole episode that was just about the madreal Quan subplot where you didn't see any of the story that that were continue with I guess what you could call the main plot they've done this plenty it's it's kind of crazy they seem to be struggling to fill the time which I find remarkable these books are they're really excellent sci-fi book They're military focused sci-fi books where you have a wide cast of characters with their own unique roles in the general military structure who have their own issues and responsibilities to deal with as this massive overarching threat is looming over everything in a silo show one of the things that I really really like about it and no spoilers or anything the setting is it's ubiquitous you never forget that you're in this location with these people who think a certain way because they've been brought up in this way everything in Silo that you see and the way that the characters behave the kinds of objects and materials they find valuable and precious the way they talk to each other their attitudes towards people all of it is completely un undated in its own setting the setting and the story and the way everyone behaves in the show it's all combined together brilliantly to give you this this very unmistakable and unique vibe to the whole show and it's something that Halo lacks whenever you go places no one's talking about you know the aliens trying to kill all of us everything seem so disconnected you never get a sense that there is an overarching story and there should be cuz it's Halo there's a big event going on and everyone should be concerned about it but no one really seems to everyone's just like oh we're going to go over here to the store writers aren't concerned with it then why the [ __ ] would the characters be concerned with it is over reach fell we're done we're moving on it's over finally we we we did the obligatory Halo bit now we can tell a story about a husband and a wife looking for their missing son in the Sci-Fi setting and um mild mild mild sci-fi setting and then we can have a b-plot of some super soldiers who have to fight some aliens intermittently and even that's being really kind to it and then there's a little bit of intrigue with some government organization that doesn't like them because they're big meanies but then we can get back to to the lady who has the magic visions and she has to do something regarding something and it's going to be really magical and cool please will you help him what are you prepared to do for me what is this that they're trying to do here something going on with Cortana what do you know of the demon he remembers you there's just been zero scrutiny on on kotata from the Covenant side as well to steal let's say file or a hard drive and access information in a very objective way I can understand but that is a a speaking AI you have no idea what you've done by plugging that into your [ __ ] but even even plugging in a file right at a folder and it just has let's just say porn and taxes you know just randomly like if you had that people could still [ __ ] virus up your [ __ ] are you suggesting I deploy silver Team without its leader just me so are we to conclude that she doesn't know what happened on reach that they just left and she doesn't ass so she doesn't mind it would be so funny they said reaches forid and she's like damn it okay damn oh well anyway moving on no use crying over spilled milk Paris bounce off that Hill you're going to spend your last two hours spinning into space Oh wait is she a spart what she's a Spartan 3 how quickly did that happen Spartan this has moved along very quick like in a week I love last we were talking about how they could they just normal humans who can put the armor on timeline wise they couldn't possibly get to certain places like they've jumped a significant amount of time also this looks so fake what w what the hell are you doing get back into position put it in your report dude I feel like the pre- rended cut scenes in Halo 2 looked a lot better than this the uh the red versus blue the CGI Parts looked better than this ini in phase two here comes phase two oh my God look it's it's equipment ain't that exciting they're going in there to get something in particular instead of I feel like we lack so so much information for Gathering like why this is Meaningful just imagine imagine if you didn't know anything about Halo which I mean the show in part [ __ ] is like the nature of the war like where are we at right now what's happening where are we at and what the hell is going on why is this perz lady that we've seen now in a big suit of armor that looks like a spot I assume I assume they're going to give us that in this episode but like there's so much context we're missing Beyond even her her suit her armor the this group this Mission that's all going to be given to us I assume but we're we're lost on context for everything have we seen a covenant yet is it meaningful this particular ship it's like well I guess we'll find out no sights on the gun there's no sights on the gun again how do they keep doing it oh rip finish it no pull it out pull it out we've seen we have seen that you can pull it out and save yourself we've seen it this is got to be like a training Mission stand by do what the [ __ ] was that [ __ ] show they have no problem locking onto our to attack ships but they're less effective against smaller targets well apparently they do because you were around there in a ship before you jump means that their targeting system is bad if it can't Target that's not a instance of it being good they need a scene where we see a worldwide like a Galaxy map and they give us at least a symol version of where the factions are and how we stand here's the planets that have being destroyed and here's the planets we still have left that kind of deal yeah cuz I emphasize that these are adults that are becoming Spartans these are Spartan fours these are not threes that is true infiltrate the ship deliver the spike why you just bring like a super mega high explosive why does it have to be on the bridge just like where you land the hallway where you land just put a bomb there we skipped over so much potentially meaningful stuff too right like with Key's death we had one recognition of it in the last episode but what about the UNC side of things we can get anything this Spike delivers a virus full system shut down like a bullet to the brain you don't have to put a bullet to the ship's brain just like land on the why don't you just plant a bomb on the engines and then it'll fall into the planet you just blow it up yeah you just put a bomb on it we cleared the enemy those rounds came out of nowhere the simulation is random what good is that so is war so is war hang random war is literally the of random there's a difference between random and comes out of nowhere the sheer concept of military intelligence is specifically to take the random guessing out of War because you want to know what you're planning for you have a problem with me I have a problem with soldiers that continue to repeat mistakes what was her mistake exactly she got shot by a random plasma she got killed last is it because I was in reach and you weren't one battle doesn't make you a veteran just makes you lucky please don't don't make her John Halo too and also remember most of the episode they didn't actually have her fighting she was just like standing around telling people already moving in a line to continue moving in that line I know what I signed up for wait they're they're saying that John Halo died like in the setting like that's part of the propaganda that Master Chief has died I thought I was seeing that with the posters in the background are they saying that a Spartan died they grew leaves like these in a small family I do not [ __ ] care about your godamn tea lady don't let it be invade okay so they are just publicly marketing that he's dead when they've even said in this show that the propaganda of Spartans never die well as far as I know Spartans never die why would they be trying to advertise a new Spartan program to get recruits for by throwing the Spartans never die thing out the window well and you can lie you could just pretend that GI Chief is dead they want him dead like I said John Halo saying they left them to die I think we're meant to conclude that was their objective this is yeah followup being this is the amount of effort they put into making sure that happened huh but I don't even understand like surely we are to conclude that whatever these Spartans that they're creating are going to be just can't be as good as the original Spartans a ship penetrated as is less than an article oh my oh my God is it John whoever piloted the vessel showed some familiarity with that defense network I took their suits okay they should be dead I hope that you're not blaming me if you wanted to make sure they're dead there was so many you could have put a bomb inside their suits or a poison delivery system right especially when you know that just because you abandon them doesn't mean that there's not going to be some degree of evacuation by the UNC there's so many ways to ensure their deaths but all he really did was I took their suits why why would they do this why would they even do it you think that he's alive that he's here on this planet this feels like some uh just Add Water drama you know like we got it it's our Ready Mix it's like it's a [ __ ] ready mix and it means we can have some Bor human because why doesn't he improvise a new helmet just I can't believe it the the thrust of the season right now is getting revenge for don't you think that there are more important things Mr spart man no the humans are the real villains they are treating reach as if it's just another planet just a knight on the chest board it's like I guess it sucks we lost it you know we can move on not hey the of Earth is probably pretty imminent the dust that turns into his armor he's becoming the himself within the suit he's losing his Humanity but the show is doing the opposite SE his suit three episod right that's the beauty of it it's not a contradiction it's a it's a it's specifically an inverse of what the show you're looking for profound I like how they've decided we're going to do the Iron Man [ __ ] again yeah I thought they gave up on that [ __ ] slightly different angle fire oh I guess it is a different angle yeah for simulation what are you doing so they're just simulating like shots coming from nowhere keeps on your toes You See It prepares you for Randomness you do simulations like this why did they do the simulation where RZ [ __ ] fell off the cliff why was that real to torture her yeah why weren't we here oh she does know and she's bothered by it yeah you'd think she would take extreme [ __ ] issue with it yeah she believes that her childhood friends her team is dead and why is it already being explained to her now no one escapes this kind of tragedy what's the official story for why none of them had their suits unless maybe the story is that they did none of the recruits surviv the Corvette simulation I need to know we're not sending them on a suicide mission did you ever ask for a guarantee not reassuring soldiers soldiers do expect that there is a decent chance that they will survive in their missions if they don't think that then you're going to have serious morale issues in an already morale issue starved sitting especially if you're telling a Master Chief's [ __ ] dead they're not Chief I can't make them Spartan there's something that they have to explore here which is if she believes that it's not possible to become a Spartan unless they went through the same experience she went through then how does she feel about the experience that she went through cuz she was very upset about it in season 1 I know where they took your son oh wow that looks F we got another snowy Planet as well do we need more quad seeds can we not we do she's part of the team do you know about this place onx if they knew how to fly in through the defenses but you knew that they knew to fly in through the defenses why didn't you stop them when they flew through the def you're right yeah the fact that they knew that it happened they knew exactly where they landed they landed less than 15 km from where we are now this is like a massive military base there's no way you could land anywhere close to them honestly not hard to take them out bring him a pelic with a machine gun and be like PE you're dead oh God what's going on here senses that they may under be attacked yes have a spirit Vision or something oh my God she actually is having a spirit Vision Spirit Vision has yes she is Spirit Vision Mystic that means we might have to have her yes I love scenes with Quan alone and her spirit Visions she's the protect her see she alerted her by directing because they know everything all predestination predetermined should we take bets on whether Master Chief kills these people when they're just doing their job dealing with way surely they wouldn't be that stupid no you're all banged up you don't have your armor I don't know these are evil on people maybe telling not to do it because you could hurt yourself not because of the ethics of this situation at all oh wow oh just shoot them open fire I said you could do it could do it no capture no interrogation just kill her oh [ __ ] okay wow that guy's dead they don't they don't believe they're dead when when people get punched it means that it's not de look he shot him in the knees wait what is that weapon an M it's a Glock conversion why isn't it the uh SMG from the games also why did you do all of that if you were just going to give up anyway more scenes of John Halo fighting humans than Covenant no this is clearly a plan deliberately stops his shoot him in his legs I assume there would have been a conversation between him and sain that we didn't see that's going to be the reveal but all the drones and everything that they would obviously have and the surveillance they were shoot first before why are they not shoot first there was a well there was well season one that had well well you see patrici the reason that they stopped shooting at him is because he started at them are we going to have a monitor pop out of this also if if someone shoots you in the leg twice you're not going to shoot them back you're paused yeah you can't do anything oh my god did what I think your skitso Visions are going a little farer that was so funny how are you down here wait what did you jump down the well too how did you know how to jump down the well Vision patri they might have a lot of time for this because this is some Forerunner [ __ ] with qu have an immense amount of story content and now we're going to take our time with Quan you've been here before yes I used to practically live here no they didn't train him on onyx the not the Spartan twos also make sure you hold the light in front of your eyes so you can't [ __ ] see in the dark before you John was consistent Dependable then he met you and he became unpredictable yeah but that wasn't Quan that was the Keystone you know that sorry about that don't be they're just going to do the thing character who's been in the place think the writers were like oh this will be a really fun team of Hy and Quan relite sex Elite see that he's doing it to himself is he branding himself oh my God why was too expensive to have how come we don't see the elite ass didn't we see John Halo's ass what do she up to Why does the Arbiter have command over anybody yeah he was literally like the lowest ranked Soldier I they don't even realize that the whole point of the Arbiter was failed but they probably like oh Arbiter he's like the leader guy right it's weird because the cut scenes even like the ones where they're traveling to missions make it very obvious that the Arbiter was the lowest ranking one yeah the ship master was in charge not the orbitor you are the Orbiter the will of the Propet but these are my Elites their lives matter to me yours does not yeah it it it oh God damn it do you think he knows that you're lying yeah I got it but what what what does that even mean we got to wait cuz we don't know what the [ __ ] they're up to how did she monitor the simulation he looks at that's a screen she looks at it it's got a little mini map man you got to give your excite the Scopes especially because it is a simulation they could do anything like have Scopes who are they fighting are they fighting where are the Covenant they're fighting ghosts justand it's it's just random shots that's what they said those rounds came out of no way the simulation is random apparently they can't simulate enemies how is that even going to be remotely helpful does that train you for [ __ ] you're never going to just be fighting random shots getting fired from nowhere we got assault e for let the [ __ ] be man we assault in force like bees I don't know if we should model our approach after bees but Kai said it's like bees a rifle can't shoot a bunch of bees it won't work my rifle is useless against a swarm of bees out I guess frags will work on random gunfire I don't get it don't they have like how do you shoot random gunfire I don't know I don't know what the solution is supposed to be here why aren't you clearing hallways why aren't you laying down just run to the objective you have an equal chance of making it if you just Sprint to the objective it just seems like random shooting like this isn't actually a military or anything what do we do now get the hell out of here Baron what is her deal [ __ ] Spartans is what she's that's her mindset the Covenant are IR relevant the humans have issues they got to deal with you know it's also really rich of him to say that the only time people soldiers get wounded in Wars when they just died you idiot yeah his friend just died what is this cell for what like if they find an elephant or something what is this for yeah look going to try and spin the story that he's working for the Covenant he told me he saw m which would have been recorded on his camera from what can ascertain it would seem that John 117 maintained his connection to mck see he knew he's gaslighting her so he already knew that now he's like using her admitting that to like manipulate her and it appears now that they are working together that makes sense which is why they're never seen together and don't appear to have any related motives and why he kills Covenant what was the story he fed her about what happened on re i' have no idea John escaped from reach how did that happen when everyone else he's here now see how un he is he's in the cell he's still trapped in the cell now we're to assume he escaped well yeah at this point we're going to have to wait but I I assume I don't know the door was closed and it's a like a cell door and the rest is concrete cage he's stuck in there with all of these men who are severely injured or dying or dead and if any one of them manag to actually wake up and shoot him it's over no their gun won't work or it'll take them seven years to pull their pist out or something so like he knew about what happened on sword base and just didn't give a [ __ ] we know the Covenant attacked the gr relay to cover their assault on sword base well at this point I'm wondering if he works for the [ __ ] Covenant but like all the other characters should have noticed that already the position of any object can be determined relative to three points in the night sky what are these two talking about they're finding Halo I feel it here oh yeah okay if you were to use the artifact to project yourself back to the Halo you could determine its location in the stars but by memory yeah that's [ __ ] [ __ ] I touched the artifact and nothing happens no you need the both of them together to find Halo you mock my pain you've seen the Halo before I have a record of it here that's not what it looked like when they were there in season one but yeah that's totally different there weren't nearly as many trees well there weren't mountains it was just like Fields they're like in this big green field part yes can we skip this part where I say how sorry I am about some person that I've never met from some place that I've never been this is like a substitute for having a conversation do you think that they've walked through this one little bit back and for and back and for move the camera around this is like Doom uh the Doom movie the second one that I would I was about to say the bad one but immediately this is one of those things that there wouldn't be a fight if they both actually share their information perosi Merson they're responsible for reach for vanic the covenant's responsible the Covenant didn't take our armor but theyy K youy honestly the covenant not relevant we need to sort out the human [ __ ] the Covenant didn't leave us down there to die what are you talking about I'm talking about the people who sent you down here like yes we're being attacked on a galactic scale by an alien force but I mean got to got to sort this [ __ ] out who sent you was it mck you [ __ ] explain letting you go right it's a good thing she's not wearing her helmet it would be funny if like he beats her because pun her face that's what it means to be a soldier and more than that I don't like the show's denigration of being a soldier of course these writers have like a low level of respect for military personnel fight time but if she puts on the helmet there's there's actually nothing he can do is he going to punch his way through the armor here there's no environmental death and then he throws her into a server and she goes how long have we been together Kai a long time and what's that worth now the riters thought this was such great drama didn't they they're like oh this is [ __ ] brilliant I forgot she existed no stop her now stop her now stop her now you should also be contacting people ow oh second back injury this only ends one way there's no use in fighting me is he going to fight clubber like Tyler Durer down just take the beating you don't know where I did I'm Chief's dead moving on like I said I could see the interview and be like we decided killing Chief would be an interesting route to take the [Music] show what was that scene it's catharus for all the people that saw season 1 yeah what am I you were a dumb [ __ ] a dumb [ __ ] don't pretend you had a choice the attack on reach was inevitable man the commentary on reach has been incredible throughout this whole thing Master Chief is gone but his memory his Legend will make a million more Spartans in his place wouldn't it potentially actually be devastating for morale if Chief died any Spartan being died and being publicly declared dead the point of not declaring it not the Spartan of Spartans died so anyway sign up Admiral we're receiving an encrypted transmission I'm still just thinking about the fact that she wanted to end that conflict with punching him so hard you like slabbed into a wall SPID first it's just fascinated ma'am our Communications may be compromised oh my this is this is Oni I might believe this if like a a hyper Advanced AI got in the system if they had Cortana for example like maybe if Cortana got in the system and wanted to I could probably believe she could fiddle with [ __ ] Master Chief you don't look so good neither do you honestly just left him in there she wanted to beat him to a bloody pul but didn't want to take him in and luckily they turned off the feed so none of this can be seen something terrible is about to happen would you build an AI with the capability to do this to your own systems maybe if you had to wipe every everything is part of like some sort of protocol of the Covenant invaded But I feel like that'd be really special you're the master chief not anymore notm no not at all never you never were the covenant's going to find the Halo Chief remember Halo is a thing yeah we're definitely get there by the end of the season AR we it is imperative that you get there first wait do they know what Halo does they don't and they can't all they've done is made wild speculations about what it is I'm with m shut up I'm with the one they call the Arbiter kill pic how do you know that why would you say must get renge I could have sworn he called himself Arbiter right when he killed van you need to touch the artifact I don't know it that's why you have me God everything is so all over the place God now he's having a sko skso Visions I was able to gain access to the Covenant systems I'm transmitting location data now yeah see this was all their plan but why would the Covenant have let this happen so grana's shut down everything in the room to have a conversation with her I guess so I believe this fulfills all of my mission parameters this was planned they planned Cort they planned to have her be taken and to be ejected directly and so she could steal all their information how dumb is that what if the Covenant were like nah and then stepped on her and destroyed her I feel like normal ass humans would be like that's a weird thing that they would leave behind they would leave her behind that's crazy because they don't know what the Covenant are capable of the covenant could be really good at manipulating human AI what if they're luring you into a trap what if they have better AI technology than you you need to assume the Covenant have better technology than you because they do they just literally have better technology you have no reason to believe that doesn't extend to like AI stuff how do the UN C know that this isn't compromising their systems now she's directly transmitting from a cant ship is yeah see it's done now yeah you would you would have it be part of the simulation that there would be an Evac element so that they thought that they would get evacuated because of course they would cuz they're human beings who are soldiers John said that you left him here for dead you saw what he did to those soldiers you can't trust him but I do not really I mean he killed so many people I mean you just kicked the living [ __ ] out of him yeah really weird strategic choice but I mean you're believ in a guy that just murdered a bunch of guards he said that you knew the Covenant were coming that you let the whole Planet burn the only thing John has just said is that is his word essentially he no his against but the only other evidence we have is John killing people on his own team so yeah he it looks really bad for JN of course this guy looks like an evil psychopath but at least he's up front about it which I guess makes it better sometimes events are beyond our control then in those moments it's what we can do to save what we can he seems to have a vested interest in sending extremely expensive military assets on suicide missions sent in the Black Ops to finish what you no no the Black Ops are going to fight mief he can kill them he's still wondering the yeah just be wanding around again right could unlock that for guess obviously why would you have thumb access here canana do it yeah cotana can is this happening yeah how come Oni hasn't shut everything down cuz there's a rogue AI in the system oh thank goodness she's talking to the on Commander what if they open why I don't know what is this character you're going to get that c wait so Oni now now Oni knows that cortana's the combination was one one one11 maybe that's the most believable thing in the whole show so is this I've got permission to kill you and then the arbiter's going to kill all them how it is a ship full of Elites what's their perspective yeah well I mean none of you stop this from being a thing I can't believe this [ __ ] like like now we're addressing this instead of the first scene where it was brought on board I don't know why you wouldn't leave her unsupervised with it they're like I don't trust you and then they don't act as if they don't trust her I like his little red cap it would be nice if we could kill her now for real come on yeah but there's no way they shot her and she survived she's not going to die not for a long time I'm like I said I would half expect the Arbiter to just kill all the other Elites here yeah they're baiting he's like this is exciting alongside timing how convenient it's poetry is there significance to that she's praising the one that's the big hole and he's praising the one that's the piece which goes inside the hole the two of them are the only people who can use the four artifacts and they're going to use them at the same time and in the season one it transported them to Halo or a vision of Halo where they had a chat so that's what's going to happen they touch it at the same time it'll be like oh my God John Halo and Mackey reunited how exciting can't wait for those last two episodes yeah they're going to get to Halo yeah this this really didn't and then and then what and it's like yeah that's the thing though then what if you like Halo what the [ __ ] does it mean that this show is going to go to Halo with everything that they've set up so far with all of the elements that they've established and all of the bizarre stupid decisions that they've made why would that even mean anything I kind of just want them all to die I can't believe we're this far and we have like a woefully low level of understanding of the actual War it's hour and hours and hours and hours of of of Storytelling storytelling and if you were to ask somebody particularly somebody who was oblivious to the games what the [ __ ] would they tell you about the nature of the human Covenant War why they want to go to Halo if you showed someone this show and then said all right you've seen this show now play the games they'd be like what the [ __ ] in the span of like 10 minutes you have a greater understanding of the human Covenant war and Combat Evolved you over the course of several episodes they just said reach offhandedly in Halo 1 it was just the name of a planet that they had fled from and that still does more for the World building of this series than like anything that they've done here if you just explained the ending with words what happened oh John Halo Catana communicated with him across the Stars took over the OD facility and started locking all the doors behind him meanwhile the [ __ ] Elites are all starting to kill each other for some reason some Reon is crawling over to the artifact and they got to touch it at the same time I don't even know to we begin for the coincidence it's like what if Kai had just beaten him to a point where unconscious what if she had thrown a punch that actually killed him what if one of the elites arbit straight away not Arbiter I think at this point it is safe to say that they are absolutely 100% locking into predetermined it's all part of the plan they're being guided there which doesn't even make any sense because why would the forerunners want to guide humans to Halo when Halo is very bad for them and everything that happens regardless of what choices anybody makes the choices that are made not only by John Halo and maku who have that connection but all of the people and the Covenant who have no connection like no Supernatural connection into any of this will make all of the right decisions at the right moment to enable everything to play out as it does as a writer why would that even be exciting to you everything happens because it was predetermined to happen all of the choices the characters make wouldn't have changed [ __ ] you're Miss you're missing it the predetermination doesn't take them to Halo it takes them to requium so that John Halo can meet the librarian to stop the dact from turning all the humans into prometh but again this is what I mean it's the crossed wires the mixed wires because all of what they established in season one was the conclusion that they're being guided to Halo but again why would the forerunners want to guide humans to a weapon that if they used it would kill them for a war that as far as they were concerned was settled it's so that John goes to Halo and then goes back to Earth and then finds the ark and then is left drifting in space where you can find ream imagine if they got through the portal a little bit faster huh dude [ __ ] thanks 343 it's just to get Halo in the show because it's the name of the thing and that's what people recognize and and that's all Ser would be surprised if the trailer for season 3 if they get it would have a flood Stinger at the end of it it's going to be shots of like the island from Silent cartographer room cograph and like there will be like a climbing Crescendo of music as like you hear growling noises and then you see like a flood tendril come off screen and then it cuts to Black it would be in keeping with this Show's trend of establishing all of these [ __ ] plot threads that they cannot resolve with the time that they have available to them to just throw in yet another well it's it's a Playbook thing it's like of course they're coming they're on the way and then once they've used every last thing they like why does no one like our show dude could you even imagine asking somebody who didn't know anything about the games who do you think built those artifacts what is Halo what do you think it is it would be built like by ancient Wizards or something if they were just watching the show especially with all the old lady Mystic old lady you'd think it'd be magic at this point when really the whole nature of it is that the forrun is it comes across as magical because of how like crazy the tech is but it's actually very clinical no it's all straightforward technology it's just more advanced stuff of things that humans already have that was kind of the point in Halo 1 who was like oh you're using the tier 2 Armor when you should be using tier 12 it was like oh so the molier is just like a weaker version of what the forerunners had cuz it's all they were humans if you think about this episode and the way that it played out and like the plot events it is so and then and then and then it's crazy they show up on the planet and even though on knew where they were they knew exactly where they landed they just sent some people out on foot instead of vehicles to take them out but then John Halo fights some guys then he gets captured and then he fights some guys again and then he just toters around in the Oni base and then has a fight with Kai where she just starts beating him to a pulp and then leaves him behind and then Cortana shows up to bail him out he gets up and starts walking around the facility again and then goes to the Keystone you break it down into like a point by Point play of events is know how possible how is it possible she's able to transmit her signal acoss across the she's using the artifact she's using the artifact that has a Hardline connection to the other artifact to call them he can't use the artifact it is impossible for her to use that artifact that's what I would assume not having they established that she absolutely couldn't and and it's it's like M was just saying there why would you assume it's Cortana rather than a lie what if it was the Covenant pretending that they were Cortana yeah because ohy cortana's back and she's shutting down our on systems and has total control out like the UNC stuff there's no reason to think that they're not reading our [ __ ] while conneting they haven't established anything about the World building that would suggest that the the fact in the setting that the the one thing the Covenant sucked at was artificial intelligence but they haven't established that no oh and also I mean before I even forget Miranda Keys showing up after being absent for 5 and a half episodes in like some underground 4Runner facility right next to the facility on onyx where they doing the Spartan 3 [ __ ] that they had also just started doing what the hell what is going on was there even a lying about her dad no oh no they didn't tell her about her dad did they well she she must know they will next episode I guess she would right she probably know that he's on reach and I'm sorry just like this is how you do storytelling you have her say to Miranda something to do with her dad she's hand she's handling the grief really well from knowing her dad died 3 days ago well she's busy with her own work which will be some new [ __ ] subplot that I'm guessing they're like RC it's all coming together we set it up with Quan in season 1 and now she's here meeting up with Miranda who's in front of some like little Forerunner plays they got to get moving they're running out of time they got two episodes left and we know that the finale is going to have a whole bunch of action probably yeah they really got one episode of setup left pretty much to get to Halo which they definitely will that it would be surpris me if you get the maybe the end of next episode and then last episode is being on there for a bit no we're going to get like 5 minutes of them being on Halo the covenant's probably coming to this planet right if they found out that Cortana was broadcasting the message then surely that means they know where she sent it which means we'll probably have a big battle Happening Here May it'll be like deployed in action for real for the first time or something yeah maybe that's the point of the whole training training simulation is they're tying it all together that type of ship that they're supposed to be assaulting is what the Arbiter has it's so alien the trajectory that they've taken with this show that even if they got to the events of Halo Combat Evolved it would be completely unrecognizable there's no pillar of autumn there's no Captain keys there there's nothing it would be like this completely different Squad of characters half of whom either didn't exist in the games or wasn't at Halo and Halo one the more fundamental level would be that even the characters who are present John Halo and Cortana fundamentally do not have the same relationship that they have in the games all of the law relating to the humans and the forerunners is radically different it would be meaningless it would just be look at the visuals look it's silent cartographer look they're going to land on the beach with their Pelican you remember this right this is great now let us do our own story for the next if they even have a pelic what I'm imagining is them taking that shitty little ship they have and like packing all the main characters onto that and that's what goes to Halo and then they have a big set piece where they meet 3 43 Guilty Spark and all of them are fighting together side by side including sain's wife wow that's that would be amazing the library level but it's just all the named characters on the show are now on the team yeah are somehow surviving without having molder armor which is essential to fighting the flood you cannot survive the flood without having Moler armor there's spores in the atmosphere and if you don't have a way to filter it you will turn into a blood but remember Patrician the grave mine will be like poison ivy yeah be a human woman her mck and John are going to have a threesome for sure that's I just rewatch Juan jumping down the well so funny it's just John Halo acquiring a herum that's what this show is I would ask what you guys think is going to happen in the next two episodes other than they're going to find Halo but what's the point and a spe I've pretty much given all I got I don't know they're going to kill the we all agreed villain man's going to die the leader of he probably gets left behind on like Onyx as it gets glassed as like punishment for leaving people behind on reach yeah probably I think the season is going to end with them crash landing on Halo and then just a shot where it looks up over the Halo Skyline I don't think we're getting a single beat of action on Halo proper will the Arbiter join team human no he's probably doomed cuz he's he's got to die [ __ ] yeah he's like he's like can get Redemption but [ __ ] him he's he you'll have a boss fight with Chief surely before we yeah like this istic you son of a [ __ ] yeah it's way more sympathetic I guess interesting they'll do even though we barely have anything about them but he's already far more interesting than she is by a mile it's almost like they've moved forward like the Covenant Schism early as well with none of the Dynamics with the brutes or anything that happened in saw a brute and they just shot him and they died the expans characters have to find their son like next episode too and then he has to meet he has to meet John Halo because John Halo is his hero exciting all right see you bye yeah goodbye
