EFAP Mini - Catchin' up on EFAP #374, #381, #382 - Iron Lung, Project: HM & Super Mario Galaxy
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The hosts begin their review by examining three distinct films, starting with *Iron Lung*, which they praise for its unique 2D synth-wave animation style despite acknowledging it is not flawless. They contrast this indie success with the mixed reception of adaptations based on video games, specifically criticizing the movie version of *Super Mario Galaxy* for lacking original music and mischaracterizing characters like Fox, while also noting that *Project Hail Mary* suffered from significant cuts to internal monologues and subplots in its film adaptation. The group expresses strong disappointment with recent live-action attempts at Nintendo properties, arguing that they often lack the storytelling depth and character development found in fan-made projects or coherent children's media like *The Lego Movie*.
Beyond the films, the conversation shifts to broader cultural topics including the controversial design and safety issues of the Cybertruck, as well as a discussion on the Game Grumps split where differing philosophies on content creation speed versus passion were analyzed. The hosts also touch upon insurance concepts inspired by pop culture, such as "volcano insurance" from *The Simpsons*, and reflect on the nature of absurdist humor in films like *Iron Lung* and *Smiling Friends*. They emphasize that context remains crucial for criticism even within surreal genres, a point illustrated by their reading of a scathing review for Roland Emmerich's *The Patriot* which highlighted historical inaccuracies and simplistic morality.
Further discussion covers the state of modern gaming and media, with the hosts voicing frustration over *Destiny 2*'s predatory monetization and departure of key developers, alongside concerns about how patent issues regarding game mechanics might stifle innovation. They also address the importance of creator transparency regarding sponsorships and financial relationships, criticizing platforms that claim to support free speech while enforcing hypocritical censorship rules. The segment includes a showcase of new Pokémon designs from entries #374, #381, and #382, ranging from Beldum to various Primal forms, before concluding with personal anecdotes about favorite armor choices, parrot species, and the potential negative impact of remakes on the value of classic works.

Hello and welcome to EFAP Super Chat
Catchup mini for uh for episode 374
which is Iron Lung but also Project Hail
Mary and Super Mario Galaxy that'll be
381 and 382. Look at that triple threat
movies. Don't you love them? Kind of a
funny selection too because one film we
were like this was awesome and in the
top 10 probably for sure for all three
of us. One of them was like that was a
cool attempt. Lots of neat things,
>> few problems, you know. Hey, better luck
next time. But also, thumbs up.
>> And one of them just abject slop that a
lot of people find because they don't
care about Mario as a series and think
that nobody does.
>> Well, yeah. Abomination.
>> Yeah. Can you tell I'm not a still a
little bitter about the conversations
around Super Mario Galaxy and
adaptation? One of my favorite games
just ever.
>> Yeah, that was that was great.
>> But they did. There was music in it
though from the game.
>> Yeah, for like 5 seconds and then it
went back to the boring score music.
>> You loved Fox though, didn't you?
>> Um,
no, not really. Um, I it it felt like
everybody was a little bit prepared
after some time to go like, well, hey,
look, all right, if they made a movie,
which they probably will, probably
shouldn't look exactly like this
>> or act like that. [laughter]
>> He probably shouldn't look like that or
behave like that. But otherwise, you
know, good stuff.
I mean, I like the the 2D animation,
like the the synth wave thing. That was
kind of like cool, but you know that the
movie is not going to look like that,
right? Like, that's for that was for
Twitter and they were right to do that.
That works.
I mean, it's just it was a bad movie and
it made a lot of money, but it made less
money, which is nice. That's reassuring.
That's it's all downhill on that front.
Well, you guys send us some messages.
We're going to look into them. Here
goes. Starting with Leight and Gay.
Appropriate. Uh, whenever you're reading
this, go to Letterbox and read the top
review for The Patriot. Many LOLs. By
the way, just watch 12 Angry Men. It
rocked. Well, that is a correct opinion
right there. Um,
>> have I even been to Letterboxed before?
I was about to say like, what does it
even look like?
>> I've never used it. I've never used it.
>> I've heard of it and it sounds like one
of the places I would never want to
visit.
Yeah.
>> Track films you've watched. Save those
you want to see. Tell friends what's
good. Okay.
>> I do on YouTube.
>> The Patriot. I have found it. Now, how
do I see?
>> What did it say? Look for top review.
>> Okay. So, I'm reading the one at the
top. I guess it's the one with the most
likes. So, this this this is what it
says. [ __ ] you, Roland Demerich. [ __ ]
you for your depiction of happy pseudo
slaves who want nothing more than to
work for their masters all day in the
field. [ __ ] you for simplifying a
morally complex and nuanced war between
combatants that had parents and children
and loved ones into a simplistic good
and evil wankfest. [ __ ] you for trying
to create a hero narrative out of a
repentant slaveowning mass murderer
solely because he didn't kill white
people and you knew Hollywood doesn't
care about the suffering of Native
Americans. [ __ ] you for using the
genocide of Native Americans. Not one of
which appear in this movie as a plot
device for Mel Gibson's man pain when
the figure his character was based on
couldn't have cared less about Native
Americans he slaughtered all their
families. [ __ ] you for making Heath
Ledger look like he can't act.
[laughter]
>> [ __ ] you.
>> I mean it it's not historically
accurate. That's for sure.
>> Yes. Uh [ __ ] you for casting Jason Jason
Isaacs, one of the best actors in
Hollywood to play one of the most poorly
and lazily written bad guys have ever
seen and making him look like a hack.
[ __ ] you for making the most half-ass
and artificial romance of the 2000s and
killing off the love interest because
you're incapable of creating anything
that produces genuine emotion beyond
embarrassment, anger, and shame. And
especially [ __ ] you for taking a war
crime committed against Native Americans
uh by patriots and changing it so that
the patriots were victims of the British
because you think it's edgy.
>> That's a glowing endorsement of Mr.
Emerick's filmmaking skills.
>> Gave it a half star.
So I am
>> I assume it's the lowest you can give it
like you're not allowed to give
something a zero.
>> I assume that's how it works. I think
they
>> it's not
>> had some criticisms accurate.
>> You know what's wrong with that review?
It's not very balanced. Where's the
praise? Where's the praise?
>> Well, yeah, because you're you have to
praise you have to praise something
you're obliged to.
>> Otherwise, your review can't be good. If
you if you don't have a balanced review,
you praise and what's the point? So if
you put at the end of that long screed
but the scenery was kind of nice I guess
then all of a sudden it's a valid review
is such a bizarre like I don't
understand
>> his career
>> like Independence Day fair enough very
fun movie but how does the guy who does
Moonfall Independence Day Resurgence
>> he did 2012 right like all of his films
are the same
>> and most of them are really [ __ ] I say
all of his films are the same except
that for some [ __ ] reason. Um, when
they were doing a doc like a documentary
style movie about the origins of
Stonewall, the people in charge thought,
you know who'd be the best person to
direct the thing charting the origins of
the gay rights movement? Roland
Emmerick. We'll give it to him. He can
just blow the gays up repeatedly. He
just Oh, he's so strange.
>> He did a movie about Midway, didn't he?
It was like independent film that was
very expensive but nobody watched it.
>> What I heard. Yeah.
>> Which uh I mean I I assume that he's in
he can't make movies now like any big
budget movies because he hasn't made one
that's been successful in
godamn like 2012 probably was the last
actually successful role in Emer film
right and that came out in 2009 not
2012.
>> I never saw a dependency resurgence so I
just know everyone hates it. Oh, it's a
It certainly is a film. It came on the
other day and I left it on out of morbid
curiosity.
>> Oh dear.
>> Really, really [ __ ] And they plan to do
a third one.
>> There's a review a little bit further
down that says, "I have to Braveheart
Gibson's Crusade to destroy the English
continues. Score points for accurately
depicting the effects of a cannonball."
And that's about it.
I know what they're talking about.
There's a part where a cannonball hits a
guy's head and it goes comes right off.
There you go. Um, I'd like to stop for
uh by apologizing for asking for a
Shelby Oaks and Iron Lung comparison
last EFAP, ignorant of this coming EFA.
So, instead, how about Iron Lung versus
Send Help? It's a Remy movie.
>> Yeah, I haven't seen Send Help yet. I'm
going to though.
>> I've heard I've I've heard things.
>> No, it's not it's not got a great rep. I
mean, it's kind of 50/50. I've heard
some people say it's it's awesome and
then other people but it is Remy so
there's probably something fun in it at
some point you know right right guys
yeah you go multiverse of madness there
was lots of good stuff in that
here and there is the iron in this lung
like iron iron
um some of it is is the iron you're more
familiar with biologically but it's also
regular iron too it's like it's like
yeah It's both.
Um,
hello everybody. I am Ron and this is my
lung. Can't wait for Markiplier to
reveal that he is iron and starts
lunging all over the place. I am Ron.
Get it? I'm Ron. I Ron Lung. I guess his
name could be Ron Lung.
>> Though at that point you just want to
say John Lung would be funnier, I guess.
I always find the whole John person
funnier.
So glad this was good. Please mention
the awesome match cut from Simon's
mapping to the cable during the montage.
Really cool film making stuff here.
There's the thing we concluded on this
just clearly someone gives a [ __ ] when
they were making this.
>> Mhm.
>> Which in a way is all that matters.
But I mean other stuff matters too. Uh
the truth is I am Iron Lung. Yeah, they
didn't they they cut that line. I think
that was going to that was going to be
in there but nope.
Um, oh, potential criticism of the day.
Not even criticism of the day. Potential
criticism of the day. Your standards can
be incompatible with certain genre of
genres of film such as absurdist films.
Maybe tweak it a bit. I have yet to come
across any movie that can't be looked at
the way that we I think, you know, would
would maybe help answer this question.
Uh, once upon a time, I was [ __ ] all
over the uh the throne room fight scene.
I was talking to someone who said, "If
the throne room fight scene was in
someone's dream, would you have the same
criticisms?" And I said, "No." And they
were like, "Well, is that not evidence
that your whole system collapses? All I
have to do is say it's a dream and now
you can't even criticize it." And I was
like, "One, that doesn't mean I can't
criticize it. It would just change the
format. And two, context is everything
for criticism." I don't know why that
would be a surprise. the difference
between something happening in a dream
in a film or something being a vision or
um maybe a an illusion versus what is
actually happening. You know, I don't
think we should broadly say like, oh,
all of that's the same though cuz it's a
movie. It's all made up. Like, well, no,
that's that's the context changes. And
um you can use that to your benefit or
not. And so, absurdist being like the
context, I I I feel like we can uh we
can easily sort of break it down.
doesn't mean that we won't catch
everything or
um you know all possible interpretations
of what the the creator was uh intending
but again I've seen all kinds of movies
and I haven't had trouble being able to
sort of like format that sort of thing
yet.
>> What is the most absurd movie you guys
have seen?
>> Obviously absurdist being I don't mean
to say that like they're not necessarily
the same an absurd movie and an
absurdist movie but you know what I
mean. I
>> mean it it is pretty funny because like
Smiling Friends is absurdist.
>> Yeah. And like we love smiling friends
and I don't know that anybody would
suggest that our standard for sort of
thinking about stories just completely
collapses in the face of smiling friends
>> or even like scary movie 3 for example.
There's lots of like if you tracked it
as a story it would be absurdist but it
works as a absurd comedy because it's a
different standard.
>> Aren't the Monty Python movies
absurdist?
>> I I think that would have to be
accepted. Yeah, that they are. And um
I'm pretty sure Birdman is, which I
like.
>> Yeah.
Um I mean it's it's a absurdism isn't
actually that niche as like a as sort of
a uh a genre. Well, not even a genre,
but a tone. Um but like I don't know. I
mean, if Yeah. I I just uh
the system doesn't like collapse in the
face of absurdism. if a system kind of
does, it's like, well, yeah, you just
got to you got to hammer it out and and
figure out how to make it more
compatible with more stories. But, I
mean, cause and effect is a good guide
because all stories are a recount of a
sequence of events. So, there's probably
something to be said for the sequence in
all circumstances, even in stories that
are a little bit silly.
Uh, Cybertruck is a better sub than the
SM13. No,
I mean, yeah, Cybertruck's probably a
pretty bad submarine.
>> That is funny that he said it's like,
oh, it could be a boat.
>> It's like, oh, why would you want why
would you want a ute to be a boat? Why
would that be to your benefit? And
surely the
>> Well, no. I mean, it's he he just says
things. There are a lot of people who do
this. They just say things. It's like
the idea comes to their mind and then
and then some poor [ __ ] has to try and
figure out how to make it work and they
>> someone tried to use it as a boat and
they got like halfway in and then had to
be rescued by someone using a good
oldfashioned Jeep.
>> Yeah. I mean, of course it's uh I mean
it's it's just a hilariously stupid
vehicle. It looks horrible. It doesn't
have that much like cargo space. It's
not I don't think it can actually tow
that much. Um it's it's uh there's a
whole bunch of things in it that broke
down and fell apart. Wasn't there like a
potential issue with that where like the
accelerator could get stuck because the
um the actual like
>> um
I don't know I would call it a paddle
like could like slip off potentially and
get jammed. I feel like I saw that
thing. Um, I remember there was a video
and and then in terms of the kinds of
people, there was a guy who put his
finger
>> beneath the fruit because like he he was
cuz someone was testing with a carrot
like how I could slice a carrot and then
some guy put his finger in and it
severed the tendons in his finger.
>> Um because he decided I'm going to put
my finger here while this automatic
thing closes. But there's lots of stuff
I'm pretty sure cuz I think there was um
I don't know who it was but somebody
wanted to test the bulletproof nature of
it and it it like [ __ ] the [ __ ]
something up like the window or
something or the door couldn't open um
cuz they like shot it and then it
shattered like the windcreen or
something like that.
>> Like I know that it could be um the the
effect of a better feature, but a
feature in and of itself like
bulletproof I'll be like it's not really
what I'm looking for in my car. Well,
not only is it not something that you
but like the whole thermonuclear
explosion proof glass, it's like right
so if you need to get out of the car
really quickly then like for instance if
it was an electric car that maybe caught
on fire um and you want to get out of
the car really quickly, what benefit is
it to you that the glass is
thermonuclear explosion proof, which it
obviously isn't even like it's it's one
of those things of oh doesn't this seem
like a list of cool features and then
you're like oh there's actually a reason
why Toyota builds like cars the way that
they do. It's kind of, you know, a lot
of the time, a lot of the time we've
actually figured things out. A lot of
the time the way that things are done is
just the correct way and whatever your
innovative idea is to fix it just ruins
everything.
>> Um, but hey, you know, I'm pretty sure
that um,
>> was it Simpsons that had the volcano
insurance? Was that some Family Guy?
>> I'm not sure. That doesn't actually ring
a bell as a reference, but that's um
yeah,
>> it's what a stupid [ __ ] vehicle
[laughter] Cyber Truck is. [gasps] It's
what a what a what a stupid vehicle for
like a stupid car company that is
somehow worth more than every other car
company in the world somehow.
>> Family Guy has insurance as much as Ah,
right. What was Well, you know, volcano
insurance for a car, was it? Uh, I think
for his house, but obviously it's still
me.
>> Well, yeah. I guess that's probably not
necessary in Khog, Rhode Island. Or are
there volcanoes there?
>> You know what? You never know. Anyway,
what if an alien drops a volcano on us?
Then uh Yeah.
>> Uh would would volcano insurance cover a
volcano being dropped on a house? Like
like I'm almost imagining it as a flat
bottom, you know, flat bottom and then
the volcano just gets dropped on like
with a crane.
>> Oh, you mean like cuz you are right.
insurance like the the cause of the
problem is very relevant. It can't just
be
>> it can be complicated. Yeah.
>> Do you remember when Ben said
>> alien insurance at that point?
>> What was it? Ben Shapiro I don't know
why I'm reminded of it but uh that if
your house got flooded or something
because of climate change if that was
actually going to happen then you could
just move.
Well, yeah. The
>> which the question of whom are you going
to sell your flooded house to [laughter]
go to buy that?
>> Yeah, that was going around the whole if
you just move. Just move like as though
it's the easiest thing for anybody to
do.
>> Well, if you could just sell anything to
anybody,
including something that's been ruined.
[laughter]
Like, yeah, you can just sell that. No
problem. Sell that real estate to uh
Maron. [laughter]
He can make it his house instead of an
anemone.
You've just been markup applied.
Ah, like stuckmanized but different.
Who's the most underrated Simpsons
character?
>> Underrated.
>> Uh, funnily enough, I feel like none of
the typical sort of key supporting
characters can be underrated because
pretty much every like Crusty Skinner,
>> Mo, like all of these characters are
probably sufficiently rated. um if it
was like we need to go a little bit and
then even even your more like tertiary
ones like Lionel Huts and stuff it's
like well they're not underrated they're
probably sufficiently rated
>> um
I
h I wonder if Patty and Selmer are
underrated
>> because they're like pretty reliably
funny
but I I wonder if they're uh the people
that you would as frequently think of in
terms of it's just funny because they
are in the category of the likes of you
know like Crusty and stuff in terms of
their their role in the Simpsons and I
wonder um
>> I think to an extent it just goes to
show like cuz I don't really think of
any character in Sims I'm like oh yeah
everyone hates them but they're pretty
cool.
>> I I think it's less about whether or not
they're disliked cuz I was about to say
I think Lisa's like underrated but it's
probably more apt that I think she's
overhated.
Um,
>> uh, that's got an asterisk next to it
because modern Lisa is way more [ __ ]
insufferable than classic Lisa.
>> Yeah, I guess this would apply. Yeah,
it'd be like if I said, you know, I
think Brian is over hated. I was like,
well,
>> yeah, but Brian changed at some point.
Um,
no. I It's It's really hard to pick uh
to pick characters that it feels like
anybody would point to and say they, you
know, like, "Yeah, no, I don't I'm not
interested in them." And they're
actually like really entertaining. Um,
Simpsons is incredibly well balanced
when it comes to it supporting
supporting cast of characters.
>> Like literally every character I think
of, I'm like, "Oh yeah, do people rate
them low?" It's like, "No." Like think
of like Milhouse. It's like no. Everyone
[ __ ] loves Milhouse even though he's
like a a punching bag. He's hilarious.
>> Well, even people like Martin, it's
like, yeah, but Martin's really like
everybody he's he's entertaining, you
know.
>> Do you remember the um when they're
playing that board game like dating
board game or whatever? And then you can
end up with like the Chad or the loser
and they open the door to the loser and
it's just a picture of a guy who looks
just like Milhouse and Homer's like he
looks like you point Dexter
image. He's got [laughter] like a sort
of sagging flower and that's it.
I like I like the bullying on Milhouse.
>> No, it's it's uh it's really funny.
>> Ah, I sleep in a race car. Like I sleep
in a big bed with my wife. [laughter]
>> Uh thoroughly enjoyed the lack of
exposition in Iron Lung until toward the
end. Felt like the movie was respecting
my intelligence by not overtly
explaining things. Haven't felt that in
years. plenty to dig into, I think, was
kind of what their goal was with that
movie.
>> I will say, unfortunately, if you
haven't felt that in years, you I'd say
you got to you got to try and alleviate
that. Um, there are definitely movies to
be found in in recent years that uh
respect your intelligence, you just
might have to venture a little bit.
>> It's all relative. If they're saying
they haven't found any at all, you'd be
like, "Oh, well, yeah, there's
definitely." But if they're just saying,
you know, in the realm of big budget,
sort of
>> in the realm of big budget, well, big
budget, that's of course it's music in
the I guess
of like these sort of ultra mainstream
uh main screen mainstream uh
things.
>> Yeah.
>> Pardon me.
>> Does anyone get unalived in Iron Lung?
>> Yes.
>> Yeah.
>> Several people.
In regards to the first Five Nights at
Freddy's movie, Mark was originally
going to be in the the going to be the
first security guard as he died, but he
was busy making Iron Lung. That is
interesting to me. I would have thought
he would absolutely want to make it for
that.
Um I know that like I'm just I guess it
would just be it was impossible for him,
but you'd think he'd really really want
to make it to the Five Nights at
Freddy's movie. They got Matt Pat. Damn
it.
>> I wonder if they got cameos in the
second one. It feels like people just
didn't care as much about the second
one. I know it like did well, right? But
>> it it did well. I don't think it did as
well. But of course, it's not even a
realm that I'm like remotely familiar
with. I don't know anything about those
games.
>> Those films, I think it might, you know,
years go by, we'll find out. It's like,
"Oh, the fifth one's coming out." We're
all going to be like, "The fifth one?
Damn." Okay.
>> And be like, "Yeah, the fifth one.
Yeah." No, it's just uh Yeah, they just
kept going. I imagine keep moving.
I left NFT and BBC because of the
incessant political pandering. Been
skipping open bars. They turned into
boring repetitive yapping. Still here
though. Please stay fun, insightful, and
tis me, my dear. EAP. What? I don't even
know how to respond to that. I mean,
[laughter] we're just we're just doing
what we do, man. I don't know.
>> And hopefully hopefully you keep finding
EAP entertaining.
>> Yeah, you know,
>> that's the goal.
>> Sorry the other shows uh didn't quite
make it for you. you know, you know, I'm
a part of some of them, so it's just
unfortunate, but that's how it goes.
Duckman is going to be in shambles if
RLM decided to review Iron Lung after
not bothering to watch Shelby Oaks. I
can't remember if they did say anything
about Iron L now.
>> I I mean, he'll be in I imagine he'd
just be in shambles. By the way, it was
really funny people pretending like he
wouldn't be like, "Oh, why would he be
upset?" I was like, "Dude, I'd be upset
if I was him. Of course I would. You
kidding me?
I'm the filmmaker guy. I make a movie.
Nobody cares for it and then I start
shilling
very bizarre products and then everybody
hates me. Meanwhile, this dude who's not
a filmmaker goes out and makes a film
and it's way more successful and liked.
>> Yeah, it's uh it's the kind of thing we
>> only normal to be uh to be a bitter
about that.
>> He's got film making experience. He's
made things because I haven't seen them
but people have talked about like these
projects that Markiplier has made that
are very much more cinematic. He's got
like experience, but he's still
undeniably from a lot of people's
perspective just through and through a
YouTuber. He is he's Mr. YouTube doing
>> things and he's a gaming YouTuber. Like
not not the kind of YouTuber that you
think of as being like
>> you're expecting art essentially from
>> go around wearing a shirt that literally
says I'm a filmmaker. So
>> yeah,
>> he really wants you to know that he's a
filmmaker and it didn't do him. He
watched this movie.
>> Expectations have been set, right? cuz
uh Stuckman isn't just reviewing films.
He's he's got his like I wanted to be a
film a director since I would could
remember. I made all these short films
when I was younger and then big bigger
better budgets more networking and I've
been working with this doing that and my
film making journey blah which has just
come to a full stop. Still waiting for
the next chapter on that what's going
on. I mean there there will be no next
chapter I think is the the the reality
>> cuz
>> um I mean if it was like especially with
uh with the sort of I guess what could
be said to be the trends of the last
year of certainly the horror
>> film making world it's like I don't know
why would you even bother with a Chris
Starkman at this point you know what do
you gain from that I think and probably
came up when we reviewed it at the time
he might get another chance just not
direct the biggest problem is the fact
that he wrote Shelby Oaks and he can't
do he can't write for [ __ ]
>> in terms of how it's directed. There's
nothing exceptionally good about it, but
it's also like it's not the worst
directed thing you've ever seen. So, you
know, if he comes in on time and under
budget and it's basically competent,
then someone at some point might say,
"Hey, here's a cheap guy who needs a
job, uh, will give him an adaptation of
this, you know, small YouTube product or
video game and then he might find more
success." Shelby Oaks is just it was his
own thing from beginning to end and
that's what kind of doomed it. even his
own friend said like I think Chris would
be a great director of future things but
maybe he should take a step back from
writing
>> that's so funny
>> yeah [laughter]
>> well then and then all those ads and
it's like man I don't know it just did
something to him but uh I've said and I
maintain I would like him to be able to
keep making them and make better things
that he's making and you know what find
what you're passionate about for [ __ ]
sake I beg you. It's the thing that
makes it so easy to talk about Iron
Lung. It's like Markiplier is crazy
passionate. So, it's like it just makes
it fun. Even if even if you thought Iron
Lung was like the most worstest
mostestest worstest movie ever.
>> Yeah.
>> Still have that.
>> Uh, if you made it if you made us sit
through all those stuckman ads and you
don't have the honey clip, I swear to
Jibas. Have a wonderful day, Jens. Hi,
Cap.
I I can't remember if we did have have
Do you mean the Joe and Honey clip from
classic Firinos? I'm not sure. Uh,
woohoo. EAP watching a Markiplier let's
play. One of the reasons I found EAP was
because Mark didn't upload fast enough
back in 2018. I got bored. Now we've
come full circle. Oh wow, that's a
interesting way to discover EFA. But
fair enough. 2018. I wonder what it was.
If it was a connection like a video game
or something. lock lungs. Since the
surname Sismanski is most likely Polish,
here's a quick lesson in our language.
The Polish Sz and CZ are equivalent of
the English SH and CH. For example,
uh
seri
>> should be read as
I don't even know if I'm getting any of
that right, but sure. Thumbs up. I like
that they said it's a lesson and I
[ __ ] it completely.
>> Everybody gives We had a Polish girl in
my class in school whose name was I
think was it like Wiz Nevki or something
like that, but it's obviously spelled
really weird cuz it's Polish. And this
poor kid came in and was told to like
find her and read a message. And he came
in and he say I got a message for first
name V
got a message for you. Like everyone
just guessed obviously only person with
the unpronouncable name in the entire
class.
Uh, Cats versus Cthulhu is a game on
Steam. Very well. Mhler being an OG Game
Grumps fan feels like he knows how I
feel seeing Post John Game Grump still
doing numbers. Aaron especially looks
dead inside. Yeah, but they that's
that's part of like the theory on why
they split in the first place.
John Jafari was more interested in the
sort of like I I say this it sounds like
I'm joking but more interested in the
creative expression of let's plays I
think as silly as that sounds cuz they
both made fun of the concept well before
they made Game Grumps. And the the idea
was like if we're doing this it's got to
be from a place of passion. It's got to
be that we play games that no one else
really let's plays from like ages ago
that mean something to us and that we've
got to spend the time not only making
jokes that are like good quality but for
it to be edited such that it like you
know provides something extra and then
of course um you know do analysis and
talk about what it means to you as a as
a game and everything. And so they were
doing that and they gained a [ __ ] ton of
fans including myself. I thought game
would at its peak their Sonic 06
playthrough is [ __ ] hilarious. It's
like excellent TV, if you will. But a
bunch of other stuff they made was
really good as well. I like their
Castlevania playthrough and stuff. But
um what happened was Aaron is like, "We
need to record way more, way faster, and
we need to do modern games." And then I
think, as far as I'm aware, I'm
speculating, but this is based on a lot
of discussion. There's other stuff that
people have mined to figure out what
happened. But it does seem like between
the two of them, one of them went to
like hypers scripted what you would call
quality productions
uh that rarely come out and the other
one went to crazy slotpipe factory just
splurging out everything possible
constantly. I I'm assuming I must have
talked to you about it before, Frankie,
but they had a variation of their show
called like Sleepy Grumps or Tired
Grumps. And the idea was they they've
had a long day of doing [ __ ] and they're
borderline falling asleep, but they need
to record some let's plays.
>> So, it'll just be them playing a game
and they're like,
>> "That's a hellish existence." [laughter]
>> It's like, "What the hell? I don't think
you should be making it at that point."
It's like, "No, no, no. It's tired.
grub. Don't worry, bro.
>> That's That's just
>> dude we are like humans are like
so willing to become batteries like in
various forms.
I'm not even I'm just saying that's
that's all of us. I think in in some
way, shape or form are willing to become
a battery. [clears throat] Holy [ __ ]
>> Are you saying everybody's a cipher?
Um, I'm saying that there are a lot more
ciphers than Neos. A lot. And that if
you were honest with yourself, you're
probably way more likely to be a cipher
than a than a Neo. I think that's I
think that's all I uh that's all that's
leading me to sort of think about.
>> Is it is it better to be a cipher in
self-denial or a self-aware cipher?
>> Um,
would it be that? Well, I guess the
cipher and self-denial is maybe less
likely to harm people.
I guess maybe. I don't know. No, I don't
know. In fact, I'm not even sure that I
believe that, right? Like
>> I realized when I was asking like it's
always going to depend on the context. I
suppose
>> he could still be unplugging everybody
and, you know, killing them and
everything.
>> Oh, I didn't mean in the context of the
Matrix. I meant in like a philosophical
way like like someone says I'm happy to
just work 9 to5, watch a movie, hang out
with someone with some beers and go to
sleep and never think about anything
until I die. Um, which
>> the fact that they've already thought
about that though, that's almost like
the thing. It's like I uh I think that
the kind of person who would say that
probably is a little bit more thoughtful
than they might give themselves credit
for.
>> Um,
>> versus the person who's like I'm
changing the world and what they're
doing is like
>> Oh, no. I mean, I think I have to like I
like the cipher who's honest with
himself. I uh I I like honesty in terms
of people's assessments of themselves
compared to I like I mean if there's
anything that's particularly
insufferable at somebody who thinks that
they're the protagonist when they're
not.
>> There's nothing actually wrong with
being at peace with like participating
in that way. I think I think a battery
has got to be something a bit more
>> um
>> Yeah. No, that's actually humiliating. I
don't I don't think that like that what
that was said there is like actually a
bad thing at all. It's more so like it's
it I mean because there's a big
difference between yeah I want to work
the 9 to5 and live for the weekend
compared to I want to turn myself into a
content factory.
>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. Yeah. It's it's
tight because the
>> in my head when I said 9 to5 I was
thinking about like the sleepy grass
thing of like you're not
>> you're not making anything and you don't
find you just you exist.
>> Like I I way more respect the dude who
just works sort of the normal retail job
like 9 toive
or even unusual hours and then on the
weekend buys a jet ski and goes and uses
it. That's way more that's way better
and cooler to me than sleepy grumps.
what you've just told [laughter] me
about that like
>> cuz I know how it sounds but like
stacking shelves as being like a
derogatory like yeah but that's actually
productive like that actually helps
society a lot of the jobs that people
don't want to do are like yeah they're a
lot more useful to the world [laughter]
than then hey let's record us playing
video games but the whole point is we're
incredibly [ __ ] tired. [laughter]
What the [ __ ] That's like that's so
that's horrible. It's part of why we um
we changed the format for reap to an
extent because you know the getting to
like 11 hours on doing whatever. It's
just like all of us are basically
zombies which by the way is a guarantee
on the uh the anniversaries but that's a
gimmick so you get to have access to it.
Yeah.
>> Um
see woohoo. Um oh wait I read that one
actually. There we are. I don't like
Expedition 33's endings. It trivializes
all of the Maybe maybe should read this
spoileryish just in case you guys
actually want to play it.
>> Mhm.
>> Um it trivializes what people have gone
through. I'll just put it that way. Um
uh okay. Well, so I've read the rest of
it. That's interesting because that
that's really a POV thing. If you think
it makes it meaningless,
um, let's just say you could transfer
this thought to
um,
well, to an extent you could, we were
just talking about like batteries and
the Matrix and stuff. Do you think every
decision in the Matrix is meaningless
because it's a simulation?
>> No.
>> Like, well, it's really, you know, or
what about the hopes and dreams of the
people in there? Are they meaningless
because it's a simulation?
kind of awkward cuz it feels like it
needs to expand out to you could just
expand it to life. Is like if if God
doesn't exist, does that mean that
everything that anybody chooses to say
or do is meaningless?
>> Or if it turned out we were in a
simulation.
>> Yeah.
>> But well,
>> like it's just, you know, I mean feels
like there's plenty to explore there. I
would say if uh if the nature of what
makes something meaningful is uh it's uh
it's it's realness, whatever that
whatever that means. Cuz I mean, you
know, is anything that you did in a
video game meaningful if it is not
reflected in like the real world in any
capacity? Does that make it meaningless?
>> Questions for the ages or something?
>> Sure. Think about it. Yeah. Spend some
time thinking about that, I guess.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh, cool premise, but you don't learn
any of this if exposition and a single
computer doesn't explain. The game leans
heavily on, as you already know,
>> the game. Yeah. I mean, the game it was
made very quickly.
>> Really simple and small. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, he comes back to the game later when
it gets an law update, which becomes a
main source that the movie adapts. We
did indeed cover that. I was just given
the full history sort of thing when we
broke it down. Autoc cannibalism or
eating yourself has been proven to be
extremely ineffective in keeping
yourself alive. Whatever energy and
nutrition gained from eating a limb
would go to healing instead of
sustaining.
Yeah, I suppose I don't know enough
about this, but I would imagine there's
no point in eating a limb because you
will eventually eat yourself anyway.
Like that's what the body does. it. You
wouldn't need to actually do Yeah. Eat
muscle and you don't need to go and, you
know, cut something off and then try to
make yourself eat it. It's like, no, the
body will take care of that.
>> It'll eat all the muscle and all the
>> less horrifying way.
>> Yeah. And then if it's eating your
[ __ ] bones or whatever to stay alive,
yeah, you're already dead. Don't worry
about it.
>> Straightforward cannibalism, on the
other hand, you know, there's merits.
>> Oh, yeah. Eating other people, go for
it. Uh, in certain contexts, of course.
Menheim and Fringleton, can you two dust
off your PS4s and play the PS4 version
of Lord of the Ring and convince Platoon
to play Lord of Ring on his Xbox One?
I don't think I don't think we can
convince him to do that. I don't think
that's in our power.
>> No, it's not.
>> Maybe on a stream if you set a goal of
$10,000.
>> Let's see if that happens. You can play
it on your Xbox One. Uh achievement for
crashing into a wall, but not for being
a pro gamer and going crashless. Shake
my head.
Yeah, that's actually fair. You get an
achievement for crashing but not for for
crashless. That's that's true. That's
terrible game design. Um,
is he called John iron lung because his
lungs are made of iron or because he
inhaled iron and or you can only breathe
iron and is that unhealthy for him? Uh,
if you could only breathe iron, I I
assume you'd either be dead or it is
healthy for him. Like I doubt there's
much of a middle between if you're just
breathing iron.
I don't even know what a creature looks
like if it's just breathing iron to be
honest with you. But yes, he was called
John Iron Lung or John Lung, I think, is
the better one. I don't often catch the
streams, but I've been watching the VODs
for years. Thanks for all the great
entertainment. Again, we want we do want
to just mention every once in a while
there are people who only watch live and
there are people who only watch the
VODs.
It's interesting. I don't know. It feels
like there's going to be a culture
difference there of some kind. And then
there's people who don't even know about
the difference between the two channels.
We say hello to both of you. Or I guess
this this video only goes out to the VOD
people. So,
um I guess you guys in a way can catch
everything, but the live people can can
miss stuff if if they only do live. Lord
of lung iron or is it Lord of Iron Lung?
I think I prefer Lord of Lung iron.
Sounds more goofy.
Want to see an indie darling with a neat
concept and character writing? Iron Lung
was great. But I'm actually talking
about the amazing digital circus. It's
also hier.
People do be talking about it. Um,
less and less these days cuz less of it
is coming out. But maybe when season 2
rolls around, it's going to be crazy
again.
If only I was there. Destiny 2 is worse
now than its first year. Only the
predatory monetization removing content.
Now they're using it to advertise
marathon.
Um, I think it was mentioned, uh, it
happened to you, Frankie, but you boot
up Mastief Collection and the game
eventually was like, "Hey, Campaign
Evolved is out. Go buy it."
>> And you're like, "Uh, no, actually,
thank you. Go away."
>> Like, oh, no. Unfortunately, yes, I
already have. I beat you to it game.
>> Also, [ __ ] you for doing that, for
telling me for advertising.
>> For reference, Bungie said Destiny 2 was
5 weeks away from closing in year 1,
showing low player count since last
year. 200k average across all platforms.
>> Yeah. Okay. I don't care about Destiny.
Like I don't I um I'm really not in this
case where I feel sad about it like
coming to an end. Like I don't really I
don't like it. Like when I look at
Destiny, I think of what I thought that
game was going to be and actually have
like a worthwhile story and [ __ ] And
like, yeah, all I can think about is the
fact that I, you know, I appreciate that
that's a game that people like, but um
yeah, I don't give a [ __ ] about Destiny
or what's going on with Bungie uh as a
company like right now, you know, in in
uh in in this year.
Uh took a break from Destiny 2, came
back wanting to play Mars. Turns out
Mars and Earth disappeared and I needed
to go to the moon to investigate. Just
terrible the way they locked you out of
content.
Yeah. No, it's uh I remember that. I
remember um I remember I wanted to play
Destiny in like 2015 and I couldn't
because I didn't buy the Taken King and
so I couldn't play the [ __ ] game.
Like I couldn't play anything
>> and it's just like Yeah, man. And I'm
meant to be like upset about you know
the fate of this series or of Budgie.
Like I don't know, man. It's uh like I
just cannot I don't care. I just I don't
care. Yeah.
Uh, by the way, I don't know why the
general public loves some of D2's
expansions. None of them are above a
three out of 10 at most, especially
since the story is abysmal.
I wouldn't know.
>> I just I don't Yeah, I don't care about
Destiny as a as a series. I um I
remember I'm pretty sure cuz I remember
uh this is what I mean. This is how like
out ofd my references are cuz I remember
like how when the game came out there
was speculation about how the story had
been changed from its original intention
that like the traveler was meant to
actually be like the villain. Um and
that and that eventually the uh the the
hub would would shift from the city uh
that the traveler hovers over on Earth
to uh to that that place that was out in
like the asteroid belt or wherever it
was. Um I remember all of that. I
remember there were cut scenes that were
shown in some of those earlier trailers
that aren't even in the game. Um, there
was a whole bunch of like allegory and
stuff that was meant to be interesting
that just isn't there at all. Um,
something happened and that was around
the time that plenty of like sort of
important people at Bungie left. Joe
Stanton left. Marty O'Donnell got fired.
Um, yeah. This is what I mean. It's just
like I don't [laughter]
you know if if that's like sort of my
starting point is oh there was like this
cool story that maybe never materialized
for who knows why. Um and then the game
comes out and it's got like no story um
a pretty [ __ ] weak competitive
multiplayer which is kind of the thing
that I'm I was often most interested in
in these types of games at the time. I'm
like, "Yeah, I don't, you know, whatever
whatever ends up if that gets sacrificed
for marathon, it's like, well, I guess I
don't really give a [ __ ] either way.
Which one gets to exist?" And um neither
of them will probably exist in due time.
I mean, Bungie's probably screwed.
I think Marathon only has like 3,000
active players right now. So, yeah,
probably was a bad idea to kill Destiny
in favor of it, but I don't really Yeah,
I'm not I'm not fussed one way or the
other.
Uh, also Earth and Destiny 2 didn't
disappear, but Mars did.
>> All righty.
>> Yeah. Okay.
>> Does Fringy even like video games?
>> Yeah.
>> I mean, he's uh Yeah, he he likes a lot
of them. A lot of them. He likes First
Light, James Bond. Remember that?
>> Why' you No, I didn't.
>> Oh, sorry.
pretty said that they liked it and then
they never talked about it again and
they don't care about any of the
forthcoming content.
>> Well, there's already like the the post
about like we probably won't even get a
sequel or at least a sequel that it
matches it spirit because the way that
the the rights and the companies and
publishers and developers work and it's
like oh no
>> what a shame.
Uh does Ringy even play Lord of Ring on
his PS4?
>> No. No, apparently not. Lung of Steel
saw someone say they're going to start
calling Killian Murphy English instead
of Irish as punishment for being in the
new Harry Potter. Just when I think I've
seen every type of racism, they drop a
new one.
>> I don't even [laughter] I don't even
know.
>> I just Okay. I just want him to do it to
his face. Just do it. Uh I'd say that's
the reason why. I just want to see what
he'd say.
>> The lungs of us.
The stuckman can't even fathom the
lungman's passion.
No. Uh, no. And it's kind of fascinating
to me in a way the um because the lack
of passion for YouTube was one thing
because you assume it's all packed into
his love for movie creation, film making
and stuff, but then you're like, wait a
minute. You don't even seem particularly
passionate about that either.
Like what's what's going on? What's
happening, man? And for all I know, he
might be going through some like
existential crisis regarding all of it.
like what what is his next cuz it he
kind of killed his pathway on YouTube to
some extent
uh in favor of this
>> and nobody cared. Yeah. And then when he
came back he's like well I got to do
these ads so you know and then now
everybody's mounted him so yeah what is
he to do?
>> Oh no arcade lung of legends.
Yeah, why not? The lung of Zelda.
Lung of Ring Gollang. Lunging man. Or is
it Iron Lung? Never mind. That's taken.
Thor lung and thunder. Take on Me is
actually one of AHA's worst songs. Crazy
talented band. I mean, hey, if your
worst song is that, I think you're doing
all right. Yeah. Breaking Lung.
Protagonist does have lung cancer.
You can make that work. Yeah. Um,
haven't seen it, but glazing from Mark's
fans would make you think it's the best
thing since sliced bread. Maybe they're
right. Anyways, a non-lazer, especially
with certain games. You Dumbo should
play DDLC. I mean, his fans were
obviously going to do that cuz they're
mega excited that he got he got to make
it, you know, especially following like
him creating.
>> He said they were obviously going to do
that, but what happened to the Stockman
fans? You think they were obviously
going to be Glazing Shelby Oak and they
didn't? Uh well some okay some of them
did up until the the those like triple
threat of ads came out. And do you
remember the threes that were like,
"Okay, can we admit now that it's shit?"
And it was like, "You shouldn't you
probably shouldn't like admit that you
you just had that perspective. You just
waited to not like him." Cuz I guess
what I'm saying is, you know, there's
going to be a cross-section between
thinking something is good slash you
just want something to be successful
because of who made it. And it's like
whatever. That's a reality, I suppose.
But um I'm sure there were some people
who said Shelby Oaks was a masterpiece.
one or two accounts out there, right?
Like one guy.
>> I don't know. Do you think there's a
single person on this planet that has
ever uttered those words?
>> Chris Duckman.
>> I don't even think he would.
>> Well, [laughter]
uh, so already his observations are
infinitely more soulful compared to
Stuckman. He sounds excited to share,
but he wants to be careful, too. Yeah.
Yeah, like I said, um it's just it's
just fun to watch him talk about making
a movie and why he wants to do it versus
Stuckman that makes it sound
I don't know chalky and dry and
like why are we here sort of thing.
Uh oh man, there was so much to account
for like the blood and the blood. So
much blood. This man must dream of blood
now. You saw that picture where he was
in the hospital or [ __ ] got blood in
his eyes or whatever.
Uh thoughts on
>> plungabus. Sorry, I mean pluribus.
>> Uh I think we've talked about it on some
of these catch-ups, but like the broadly
I like Pluribabus, but it's uh it's
taken way too [ __ ] long to tell story
that is like three episodes of TV's
worth in a whole season and then given
us a break of what is it? Three years at
least.
>> That's pretty [ __ ] crazy. Um, it's
it's like wellmade
from a production standpoint. There's
lots of things I like as to what it's up
to, but then there's also just
frustrations that sort of got in the
way. And then just the broad matter of
like what what the [ __ ] are we doing
messing around like this? Um, by the
time season 2 rolls around, I will have
to consider whether or not I need to
rewatch season 1 because on one hand,
it's been a while, but on the other, I
think I'm not going to forget exactly
what the full events are, you know,
which is the event happens and then by
the end of it, she's anti the people
there.
>> Might even be the biggest criticism.
There is just not enough of the show to
forget.
>> Yeah.
Uh, there is no Zosa, only Zuul.
You think people were trying to tear
down Mark and Iron Lung on Chris's
behalf? Or is it safe to say Stuckman is
burning it down with the ads he's
taking? Nobody out of passion for Shelby
Oaks is going to tear down Iron Lung.
That person doesn't exist, I'm afraid.
Is it safe to say this is the best film
we've gotten based on a game? Would it
competition be just the Mario movie?
What else? Uh,
>> that other YouTuber movie was based Was
that based? I can't even remember what
the [ __ ] it was called, so this is going
to be a useless potential answer. Wasn't
there another YouTuber movie based on a
game that did really well
like a couple of years ago?
>> Um,
kind of blanking right now. Yeah,
>> but I mean it would probably be
I mean you've seen the Sonic movie. How
does that fair?
>> I mean those are not good movies. Like
they're not good movies. Um I don't even
know that you could say that they're
okay movies. They're they're pretty
flawed.
>> Um I guess the question then is does
Iron Lung defeat the Mortal Kombats? All
of the the old and new ones
>> kind of tough.
>> I don't know.
>> I didn't see Pokemon detective Pikachu
thing. I didn't see that.
>> Yeah, but I assume it sucks.
>> Which then means I guess is is the
ultimate competition the Mario movie?
There's got to be something else, right?
>> There has to be more. But I'm
>> The thing is we're we're not counting TV
show adaptations. I guess funny movie
ones.
In that room, you get a little bit
better. Even though you know your
strongest cases have horrible second
seasons.
>> Yeah,
like Halo that first season was so good.
So sad that they messed it up.
>> Um
Super Mario Galaxy
riff sitting in a submarine taking
little pics with bad intent. Blood runs
all around his hell. Worried ears
tracking nervous pings. Hey Iron Lung,
apologies to Jethro. Have a shilling.
Well, thank you. And yes, Justice Lung,
directing people is difficult, but
directing a room of artists on a movie
seems harder than directing engineers to
build a bridge.
We're probably well, I wouldn't want to
make any claims, but I can see why that
might be the case in the sense of like
there's definitive things to do when
building a bridge, but a lot of
interpretation and sort of adaptation
and expression happens when you're doing
creative stuff. And so a lot of people
will, you know, go in certain
directions. You might be like, "Hey, I
didn't say to do that." Building a
bridge, I guess you could have that
happen, too. But, um, I assume
everything or at least a lot more things
are, um, set in terms of like where
things are going and what things do,
but again, wouldn't know. I don't build
bridges,
not physical ones. Anyway, can you play
Lung of Ring Gollum on your PS lung?
Maybe I will. Kind of a shame I won't be
able to see this movie from where I
live, but to see this manifest and be
successful is pretty cool. Yeah, I uh
inclined to agree. And they got the E
meme coming up. Uh greetings, massive
flames. Kudos to Mark for being an
upstanding guy with this project. Here's
hoping uh more take his approach. Yeah,
obviously hope we get like better better
stuff, but I I don't think there's
anything wrong with like again the
enthusiasm, the prep, the even the
marketing to some extent. And um I just
I think there's something fun about him
basically being like I'm a YouTuber
called Markiplier and here's my movie in
theaters now sort of thing. But good for
you, buddy. Markip Market Plunger. All
right.
I am a filmmaker. I am a filmmaker. Dr.
Han
Mark's work ethic and energy cannot be
topped. It is pretty up there. Who was
more distracting, Mark or Philosophy
Tube? Philosophy Tube is not even close.
Mark um it's weird like I said and I
think that was an inevitability for
people who knew him from his channel was
like, "Oh, there he is. YouTube man,
but I knew he was a YouTuber." And I
think that was I was kind of pleasantly
surprised by how he performed. I I think
he did a pretty good job in that. Like
he looked like he fit it. He's not like
a topnotch actor, but he was way more
seamlessly integrated into his film than
I was expecting him to be. Whereas
Philosophy is just like, "Oh, I know
that you're a [ __ ] YouTuber, and I
know that that's why you were cast
or one of the reasons you were cast."
>> Yeah. Um, just got out of the theater
seeing the movie. I liked it, but I had
some issues. Looking forward to see what
you all thought. Well, did a full
episode on it. It was more distracting.
Oh, no. I got that one. Just got out of
the Oh, wait. They repeated it. That's
what confused me. Modernday Solaris way
too long. I remember Solaris.
You guys ever see Solaris?
>> Yes, but a long time ago.
>> Long time ago. Mhler said toss. I do. I
do say it every once in a while. Yes.
>> It's what you do to cattle, isn't it?
>> Yeah. You toss cattle get tossed around
is like a saying. It's sort of it's like
a rep it's like a thing about like you
don't want to let yourself get tossed
around like cattle. Enough is enough
sort of thing.
>> Very common thing.
>> Uh so Fallout Operation Sunburst did
more for Fallout franchise than Bethesda
the past decade.
>> Probably true. I don't know what that
is. Knowing Mark is Magnumopus would be
home world.
Fair enough. Again I wouldn't know that
his name is Bill. This happened to my
buddy Eric.
All right. So much for Bill and Eric. I
hope they're okay. Or go the exact other
way. If you don't return with the
submarine, we will end every single one
who got captured from Eden Station.
It's just discussing options for the the
story. Just learned Australia sees the
moon upside down. Fringy lives in a
weird land.
>> Maybe you see it upside down.
Maybe it's upside down and inside out
like all the time.
I don't know what that would mean, but
it's pretty scary.
How do the files affect our perception
of the world and entertainment? Side
note, I'm into Iron Lung now.
Um,
how do they how do the files affect our
perception of the world and
entertainment? I guess knowing more
about why he's down there and then the
actual hopes of him being able to do
anything and the context of the missions
and stuff, it's really just going to
affect you, how much you care about any
of that. Uh, if you imagine that
situation, I I suppose. But yeah, I
mean, it's supposed to just make you
more invested as does lore broadly and
in a lot of things. Makes it feel more
real. There's more stuff going on.
Uh, most of the hallucinations started
when the port hole cracked and he got
sprayed.
Yes. And uh there was speculation on
what he had drank from the
little like help package thing. The
camera being an X-ray machine is great.
Allows you to see the monster without
seeing what the actual look of the
creature is. Just great. Yeah. And I
think it looks creepy both ways. So
that's good stuff. You guys ever seen a
near-death experience video? There are
people who briefly die and go up to
heaven or hell or both. Look up one. It
could change your life. Well, the
problem is, and I assume the two fellas
here would have a similar perspective,
when someone says they experienced going
to heaven or hell and then came back,
what I would assume is their brain was
[ __ ] up completely because it was
lacking blood or oxygen and it made them
see [ __ ] all kinds of visions or
experiences. And because they already
agree with certain things, they then
contextualize those things in a
particular way and then describe it in a
particular way. It's kind of how
miracles work, right? you'll uh you'll
opt for whatever you currently believe
in. Uh there was a there was a time in
my uh my school where a teacher had
mentioned her like a brother or
something got hit by a car or a sister.
This happened so long ago, but she said
like a family member got hit by a car
and they got straight back up and they'd
said right before the car hit them
they'd know they knew that God would
protect them or something and then they
didn't have a single wound and they were
checked out by doctors and they didn't
have a single wound and someone in the
class was like, "How do you know it was
uh like how do you know which God did
it?" And then they were like, "Well,
it's [laughter] it's something you feel
you you know like well okay." I mean
like there's a few of them that might
looked out for you. You know, you never
know. I think Family Guy makes that joke
as well of like all like three major
gods sort of looking like it wasn't me.
Like he's like I didn't do it.
>> Pray fervently to Jesus as you headong
into your car crash and then Ganesha
reaches down with one of his elephant
[laughter] arms and just picks you up.
I've got you son. Don't worry.
>> You're like oh god which sorry which one
were you? And he's like Ganesha. And
you're like oh yeah I wow you are real.
I believe in you now 100%.
It's one of those like it's a repeat
phenomena which makes it interesting but
the nobody really likes boring
biological explanations but your brain
releases all manner of bizarre cocktails
of neurochemicals and hormones when you
are at the brink of death which are
known to produce hallucenic effects. Um
and so and then then you combine that
with the fact that people often remember
events into the past which they learned
after the event but they trick
themselves into thinking it's memory.
So, a lot of the stories for near-death
experiences are like, "Oh, but um there
was a shoe on top of a like a cupboard
and I couldn't see that from my
deathbed, but I saw it when I was
floating up. Um and then I remembered
seeing it when I was back in my body cuz
I didn't die." And so, so how could I
possibly if my soul hadn't left my body?
Well, that's probably cuz you learned
about the shoe way after the fact and
then you tricked yourself into thinking
that you didn't know it at the time. And
you know, it's it's so many complicated
little neurochemical things going on.
like you can still believe that God
plays a role in you still being alive if
you want to, but it's um a lot of the
the purported like explanations for it
or evidences for it don't tend to stand
up to too much scrutiny. uh which sounds
adjacent to like I used to be so
interested in the concept of deja vu
used to really make me wonder about sort
of life and continuity and everything
being like I'm I remember all of this
having happened already so how is that
possible or I like I dreamed it or
something and then I just like a couple
years ago read a theory about how it
actually works for the mind of just when
you experience something you can forget
the the context of like experience it or
whatever and then recontextualizing your
brain as a memory of the thing that just
happened like you like you have a longer
term memory of it even though it's short
term or something and then it'll deposit
that in your own head as like a thing
that you thought you remembered from
ages ago but didn't actually and it just
[ __ ] with you and I was like oh that's
disappointing [laughter]
that actually explains all of it and
it's not even remotely magical. Oh,
well, and and by the way, whenever this
stuff comes up, it might be why prestige
is so meaningful to me. It's I do come
back to, you know, there's so many
fantastical things that I'm familiar
with in some way or another, and then I
read up on why it might happen, and I'm
like, oh [ __ ] that makes so much. Oh,
okay. All right. And then you realize
about yourself, like for a second there,
it's like, I kind of wanted to believe
in the crazier thing, more magical, more
the the world is [ __ ] insane instead
of solid all the way through as you
might say. But hey, not going to knock
anyone uh for sort of having these
experiences and thinking about this sort
of stuff. It it reminds me of, you know,
like Boogie saying that the mushrooms
thing. It's like he probably didn't
actually have any much of any experience
that was actually meaningful or
spiritual. He just went nuts with
[ __ ] mushrooms on his brain and he
thought, I can use this as an excuse to
say I'm a changed person.
>> I can Yeah. shortcut character
development, which uh I mean that's
certainly an affliction to be avoided is
the idea that you can shortcut character
development
>> or even force character development, you
know.
>> Uh yeah, there there's something to be
said for that. I guess the thing is is
that there's certain character
development that if you're trying to
force it, you know, in cases where
you're trying to change like a negative
attribute or
>> an addiction or something into something
positive, it's like, well, it's probably
worth trying to do that anyway because
of its benefit. But in the case of
Boogie, it's like, "Yeah, man. If I I
wish there was almost like a button I
can press that would make everybody like
me again." It's fairly silly sort
[laughter] of sort of way to think about
things.
Uh, seeing the film next week, chat.
Hosts won't get around to this for
weeks. Play game first. Uh, you don't
need to play the game, but you know,
it's kind of fun if you do.
>> And it's pretty short.
>> Yeah.
just realized he might be in trouble if
in a situation where his lung needs to
be punctured. It'll be very tough
because his lungs are made of iron.
True. Yeah, I'm going to have to sort
that out. How did Simon's sub nuke the
monster but not AA's?
Um, so the the way that his sub he like
rammed it and then exploded, right? I
actually I can't remember. Didn't he set
the thing to do something specific with
this like core?
>> I think so.
I I think it's just a difference in how
they were taken down.
How does something become unforgivably
holy?
Unforgivably holy.
>> I don't even understand what that
>> holy as in religious or holy as in it
has loads of holes in it.
>> And why would that be unforgivable? Like
that would be contextual, right?
>> Well, the the way it's spelled is the
religious version. Um, cuz I was
thinking unforgivably holy could also
relate to like a plot. But
>> maybe if if your god is like a child
sacrificing
demon monster creature like Epstein but
with magic
>> and you were really really devoted to
him. That would be unforgivably holy.
But I don't know how that relates to
Iron Lung at all.
>> Hey,
that's it. Uh,
the iron lung implies only one lung is
made of iron. Rag is not iron lungs.
True.
The sound thing was apparently a theater
issue. Some theaters could apparently
hear clearly for the scene while others
couldn't. That is a major misfortune if
it's a theater thing.
>> Yeah,
>> Nick Mo already has more character than
Stuckman.
Sure. The map vaded or in this case
lunged.
The map was a bit funky by the end for
sure. Iron Lung broke the record for
most fake blood used in a production of
approximately 80,000 gallons. He beat
the 2013 Evil Dead Remix record of 50 to
70,000 gallons.
>> That is insane.
But good for him, I suppose. It's a lot
of work.
>> I don't know when this will be read
since I'm behind. But when they pull him
up, they are excited since he found
bones. They didn't know about SM8 yet
and that was probably a fair addition to
our breakdown at the time. To be fair to
Mark, it's still a problem. But even
Nolan has major issues with audio
mixing. Very glad he took a short and
put himself out there. Shot. Sorry.
>> You say even Nolan. Like that's a
surprise.
>> Yeah, Nolan's known for that
for some reason. Um, and I always want
to bring up whenever it happens, it's
like he wasn't known for it at one
point. His movies didn't have a horrible
mixing at one point. I don't know what
happened to him.
Do you see the thing about like uh the
Odyssey broke the record for loudest
part of a movie ever?
>> Yeah. Wasn't it the Polyfamous Scream
was like 12?
>> Yeah.
>> Five. I want to say decibels. Basically,
it's actually injurious to your health
to go watch the Odyssey in the cinema
and you shouldn't do it.
>> I've seen people sort of making but I
was just like, Nolan, why do you think
you're breaking that record? Is it
because you're so d gosh darn
impressive? Or is it because people
don't want to break that record?
Like, bro, I made a 10 billion hour
movie. I've broken the record. It's
like, okay, why do you think uh why do
you think you did that and no one else
did? It's crazy.
Um,
what are your top three favorite Pokemon
types? For me, it's dragon, psychic, and
fire. Electric type is cool, too, but it
doesn't have nearly enough cool mons.
Probably psychic, dark, and
ghost.
>> Uh oh, yeah. Yeah, psychic, dark, and
ghost. Yeah, cuz they create just
they're just cool. There's cool.
>> I'm detecting a theme with those. Yeah,
>> they'd be up on my list as well, I
think. Probably not dark. I never really
unders I don't think I ever paid too
much attention to dark types, but I do
like psychotic types, ghost types, and
then
[ __ ] yeah, I don't have no idea
actually. I don't know what the third
one would be.
>> What I know that I hate
>> is like they added fairy type and [ __ ]
No, we don't need that.
>> Yeah, that's a bit silly fairy type.
Like, all right, I don't know about
that. Uh
uh I mean yeah, water is probably one.
Uh I like uh h
uh I kind of like uh I like steel type.
That's kind of a cool one. And then um
yeah, I well
h
and well hey maybe I'm boring cuz I like
fire type as well.
>> [clears throat]
>> There you go. Solid solid selection.
What can you say?
Uh, Gamer Brain says rare ingredients
equals better. Exactly.
Iron Lung, Good Boy, and Godzilla Minus
one have shown that you don't need 200
million to make a successful good movie.
To be fair, that isn't news. Like, it's
we we've been doing this for a long
time. Not not us specifically, but movie
makers. They, you know, we've got lots
of lowbudget crazy good films out there.
Uh, I suppose maybe you're just sort of
noting that in this day and age, uh,
especially now with balloons budgets
being [ __ ] crazy that maybe there's
something to figure out for all
Hollywood in there. Who knows? I want
Markiplier to make a vanished movie now.
I don't know if he's announced anything
um, like in terms of what he's up to in
even pre-production, but I'm sure we'll
hear more eventually.
Uh, rags, you and Mhler are too harsh. I
say you. Is this directed at Fringy then
or platoon? I don't know who you is
exactly, but uh, let's just say
everyone's harsh on McDonald's. You must
live near one with bad cooks. If you
were at a good McDonald's, what meal
would you order? Also, hierag.
>> McDonald's has cooks
>> allegedly. I thought it was just like
one big pipe and it all just flows out,
but no. What would I order? Uh, nothing.
Nothing crazy. I like um there something
probably like a chicken a spicy chicken
thing. If they've got a variation of
that in some way like a burger or or
little little nuggets or something. I
I'll get I'll grab that.
Do you do you guys have a preference?
>> No advances in this. It's the chicken
legend I think is it's been so many
years since I had McDonald's.
Like sometimes they'll do those special
limited edition burger things
>> but I don't know what the last one Yeah,
it's been so long. Either one of those
or just Yeah, chicken. Chicken's always
good.
>> Uh I don't know, man. Double quarter
pounder. I guess [laughter]
got to get double
>> more food.
>> Uh could Mark convince you to play Lord
of Ring on PS4? Hopefully he plays Lord
of Ring on PS4. That's what you'd want.
Do maybe a does a film adaptation of it
with Andy Circus, you know.
Uh, One Take did a video about Rey's
triumphant return. By comparison,
Markiplier sort of gets acknowledged.
Huh. Triumphant return. Please don't
tell me that they they're referring to
that way.
I'm hoping that's about send help at
least cuz that's like his film.
Um, do you share the you're supposed to
be critical of your peers work because
it helps them sentiment for drinkers
short film?
Sure. But obviously the thing is I've
said before I I know so much about how
that was made like uh that it's it's it
wouldn't be like I would deliver it to
him, you know, personally. It's not like
I'm going to make a video on that or
anyone else's short really. Um but yeah,
I think I think some of the best help
you can get when you're sort of making
something is just to test it out on your
on your buddies. I fully recommend it.
Um, but you know, sometimes that avenue
is not even 100% on the table when you
get into productions that are as wacky
as uh different countries, different
people, different timets, schedules.
It's hard enough to get these this these
three you see here together to do some
recordings for EAT minis. And two of us
from the same I was about to say same
country. How insulting to both of us.
[laughter]
Uh, get bark appliesed. Beautiful. Iron
lung is better than Rogue Elements. I I
think uh drinker said that Shelby Oaks
was better than Rogue Elements and he
thinks Iron Lung is way better than
Shelby Oaks. So, looks like uh that
would be his ranking for all I know.
Who's the villain of Breaking Bad? It's
Gus.
Well, there can be more than one villain
of Breaking Bad, right? I'm assuming the
point that more people would want to
make is the villain of Breaking Bad is
clearly Walter White,
but I mean, he was obviously a hero.
He gave the
>> spectum, I guess.
>> He gave the good people of Albuquerque
really wonderful high purity uh
[laughter]
[clears throat]
>> um
a shame Robert Mayette couldn't come
here to blab for seven minutes straight
about nothing and then call him Mark
Pillar.
Yeah. Uh that man has immense knowledge
on crazy awesome Hollywood stuff. He has
no idea what the [ __ ] a Markiplier is.
Uh, so obviously he was a bit out of his
depth with some of the conversation.
Happens to everyone. Have you ever
played Fire Emblem games? If not, you
should try. They're pretty fun. Good old
high fantasy strategy games. I've never
played Fire Emblem myself.
>> I've played almost all of them, I think.
>> Oh, almost all of them.
>> I think almost all. Yeah. From the
beginning, like way way back. Um, the
early ones are really fun. Mid ones are
really fun. Gamecube ones peak. Um,
and then three houses on the Switch
pretty good. Fates is wait. Oh, now I'm
getting them confused. Basically, the
more close in time you get to the modern
day, the more like generic weeb [ __ ]
they are to the extent that I don't. It
was Engage, I think, was the one I just
didn't finish cuz all the like female
characters are squeaky Japanese school
girls and it's like and the story sucks.
So, play the old ones. They're a lot of
fun. Maybe give the new ones a swerve
until the new the next new one is out
and see if they've reverted course.
Yeah, I've only played a couple myself
and they are of the newer era. I played
uh Awakening, that one was on DS, right?
And then uh I think I played Three
Houses, but I don't think I beat either
of them. I think I stopped at some
point.
>> Um, I swear to Jasm disappointed. I I
don't know if if this had come up, the
Fire Emblem and I'd said I didn't play
any of them on the stream as well. I'm
sorry. I'll have to get around to the
Fire Emblem at some point. I got so many
things to play. It's a good problem to
have in a way. In a way. Have you ever
played Oh, wait. Yeah. Yeah. I read that
one. Uh, he did a reverse charity live
stream a few times. Reverse charity live
stream.
>> What does that mean?
>> People give money to you.
>> I think that's just the regular stream.
[laughter]
The charity live stream is already the
the I assume that means something. Who
knows? Uh, all right. No conspiracy. As
a self- financed indie, Iron Lung
bypassed the usual studio pipeline.
Tracking sites beer briefly dropped it
due to reporting lags and missing
estimates causing a technical glitch.
Yeah, there was a lot of speculation as
to whether or not there was some
sabotage going on because it was a
out of usual uh industry setup sort of
movie and the but that could be
conspiratorial. I'm not going to say I
can be definitive on either end of that.
It's just that uh I know that there was
a lot of speculation for it. Um, but no,
it was cool that from what I understand
that movie got to where it went because
he just kept calling and kept pushing it
into loads of different theaters and
more of them that picked it up got like
spammed with his own fans seeing it and
then other theaters are like, "Whoa, we
should get that one too until it became
as big as it is." And now he's got a
name and history so he probably can have
a lot easier of a time getting the next
one in. Um, I think that was like Cap
was talking about, right? That's
actually the biggest most impressive
part of all of Iron Lung is more so the
uh the distribution
because there's lots of aspects to
discuss but to go not through any kind
of like industry connection and to do it
yourself is kind of insane.
>> Yeah,
>> don't worry Mark Hommer guy is cool with
people stealing content too as long as
their name is Hassan.
People still pissy about Mark sobbing.
He's lost a lot of blood for crying out
loud. Yes, it's one of the more common
criticisms of him. In a lot of his
stuff, he cries. Uh I think the first
few times you see it, it's very very
effective and meaningful, but then you
start to just wonder, but I I still
haven't been convinced ever that he's
like a a fraud or a liar or a
manipulator sort of thing. I think it's
genuine. Some people end up crying a
whole bunch. I don't know what else to
say. Definitely felt that way in the
stuff for Iron L. you you've poured so
much time and your own money and your
own work and everything and your life
into making this thing which you then
handled all distribution of yourself and
you had to pressure people to you even
put it in theaters and it comes out and
it makes like $40 million if you're
going to cry at all. I think that's
probably an acceptable place to do it.
>> Yeah, cuz the obviously you're I think
referencing the it's when he's looking
at the different availabilities and
theaters and then he sees one in his
hometown and it's like full like Yeah, I
think I think that's fair. That's fair.
Um, so did they get Joe in the honey?
Joe is in the honey, dude. We got to get
him out. That's That's the whole idea.
These critters are not sweet or crispy
massives down at the bottom of the ocean
of blood. No one can hear you flee. I
choose to remain here. They will get
their tism and I will get my snee. There
is one dude I think in Super Chats who's
keeping crispy critters alive, which is
atomic l atomic lung. Jesus atomic
heart, right? like [laughter] this
which uh that's getting a sequel as far
as I'm aware. Good for them. Tomic Tommy
Car is a very wacky uh wacky cave.
Markiplier funny moments during Super
Chat catchups when probably not going to
happen, but hey, no nothing stopping you
from searching those out. Evening lads,
keep fighting the good fight. Well,
thank you. Can we get a Nathan explosion
styled blood ocean?
>> I love Metal Aocalypse. So, I need to
rewatch that sometime.
Late and significantly less gay without
rags. I hope the success and praise of
this movie will bring about more sci-fi
movies and TV shows with nonhumanoid
aliens. H I don't know if we're going to
get that from that, you know. But this
is it's just the stupid obsession. What
was the thing that was almost surpris
Oh, yeah. Supergirl had like a handful
of aliens in it. It was like, "Oh, good
for you." I guess
>> quite a lot actually. Probably more than
a handful. Um they all the planets had a
whole bunch. None of them made like a
huge amount of sense where they were.
They were all different, which is fine
on that middle planet they go to cuz
that's kind of the point. But um the
other ones like every creature was
slightly different.
>> It's interesting cuz in the comics that
is definitely not the case. There are
they go to planets where pretty much all
the aliens look very similar cuz you
know, as you would expect.
>> Um and that's I don't know. just that is
really cuz I you know I imagine studios
would be like yeah that was probably a
mistake that it's like no the mistake
was making this movie but if you want to
make another movie that's got like a
good script that has a bunch of cool
alien designs that would be that would
be neat but uh no I don't think that'll
happen
um
the biggest problem with the film oh
well this tells you how we've
transitioned the biggest problem with
the film was the fact that it was not
explained why astrophasages need to get
energy from the sun. The film only
stated that they need CO2 which means
they should stay in Venus all the time.
I'm afraid I can't give you the answer
to that. Maybe Andy Weer can though.
Amaze.
>> That's not detail the book would go
into. I don't remember if it's in the
film or not. I take it from that that
it's not
amaze. Amaze. Amaze. Also, fist my bump.
Aren't you guys so excited for Fox Mloud
in the new Mario Galaxy movie? Oh my
god.
>> Well, nope.
>> No.
Rags, you are sorely missed. Oh, and uh,
hi Mark is the new Hi Rags and Rags, I
miss you. Mh. Rags hug rags laughter. I
don't even know if that's an actual
emote, but yes. Um, no. Yeah, we rags
would appreciate that. And uh, he's
still we still got him. You you had him
for a good old Why am I why am I brain
blanking here? Halo. And
what was the one before that?
>> That one we just hit. What did we just
do?
>> Why Why am I What the [ __ ] It's
literally like an empty room where
>> Spider-Man.
[laughter]
Uh, I read that they took Ryan Gosling's
beard off the poster for the notebook
until he refused to promote the movie
unless they put it back. Corporate said
no one will look like a hero with a
beard. What the [ __ ] [laughter]
>> I can believe that.
>> Okay.
>> Producers did lots of wacky stupid
things.
>> Uh, big fan of the book and this is a
great adaptation. My only big critique
is that they left out most of the
science from the book as well as the
Aridian biology and culture which I
loved in the book. Understand why they
had to do it though. Well, hopefully
this is a situation where the book is
really good as a companion to the film
and vice versa instead of it being like,
you know, a situation where they work
against each other, which is where a lot
of George R. Martin stuff ends up.
>> I think it would work as a companion
because the thing that you can't adapt
is that probably the majority of the
science in the book from what I remember
is all part of the internal monologue
because it's written in first person. So
for any part of the film where Rocky
isn't present and nobody else is present
either without him literally talking
openly to camera I suppose you could do
like a he's leaving more video logs kind
of thing but then you would just have
these long stretches of film which is
nothing but expository dialogue. Um it's
fine in a first person book because it
is a stream of consciousness to a degree
and it's also the internal workings of
the mind but I think that the film keeps
what most of what you need of it. Um,
and if you want to understand more about
the depth of it, then you go to read the
book.
>> Uh, Fringy, please. It's been 5 years
now. Our son needs his father in his
life. Please call me back, please.
>> What? What kind of madness is that?
>> I don't know.
Uh,
and this says character on the floor
laughing really hard. I assume that's an
big old emoji that's with YouTube. I
don't know. Good job, Hollywood. You
didn't [ __ ] up this one. Yeah. Job. What
a nice surprise. Just like this movie.
Good rat is hard to come by. Save Irid.
Erid. I forget her. It is Erid, right?
Uh for the quirky sediment formed
critters. Of course. A shilling for the
PHM astrofase meter. According to Andy
Weir, you have to go down to the
subatomic level to find scientific BS in
PHM. The astrophase cell membrane can
block nutrinos, which shouldn't be
possible, otherwise hard science. Yeah,
I listened to his interview with uh with
Drinker. He's very down to earth and
admits like he did what he can with what
he had and that there were did a lot of
research, but that you know, you hit
some walls in certain places when it
comes to the storytelling. But, you
know, I I think he really did a good
job.
Amaze. Amaze. Only issue with PHM is how
easy it is to communicate with Rocky,
but maybe it's meant to stick with the
idea that beings in the universe are
more alike than not. Also, play DLC,
Dumbos. I would have liked more on that,
but I get why. I mean, it's a long film.
There's a lot that happens in it. So,
it's uh you know, they get some
streamlining going and um they hit a lot
of the important beats for the heart of
the movie.
Uh The Martian was pretty good. Insert
Rockwell freedom of speech painting.
I uh I just haven't seen The Martian in
so long that I don't really want to make
a statement on it, but I just
>> I just I didn't like it anywhere near as
much as I like uh Project Hail Mary.
Um,
The Martian is actually really good.
Feels like you're being too mean to the
film. Let Ridley Scott last good film be
his last good film.
>> Well, it might, you know, I don't know.
Like I said, I'd have to rewatch it. I
could speak more to that. The puppeteers
for Rocky were dubbed Rocketeers.
>> Beautiful.
It's funny. Star Wars High Republic made
a character a rock and we all mocked
them. How can you care about a rock?
Then I walked out of this movie and wow,
good enough writing and I cared about a
rock.
I mean, yeah. I I can't even remember
that. Was it like a big like static
looking like an actual boulder or
something? I remember it being kind of
funny looking.
>> Whatever it was, it was probably not
well realized ultimately.
>> I don't remember the design being like
Rocky's. Not at all.
But hey, you know. Oh, I don't even know
what happened with all that that that
leg of the um storytelling.
Ah, the heck with it. Re-watching the
film tonight.
His [clears throat]
last name is Grace. Hail Mary, full of
grace. I think that's the idea.
>> Mhm.
>> Um, I really like this movie. I think
the third act is inferior compared to
the book since a huge arc of the
character and pacing is cut to a single
line. Would like to have seen that in
the movie. Still good though.
Yeah, I mean, from what I gather,
there's there's just more in the book
and some better things in the book that
were left out, but that the film was a
very very very strong attempt.
Uh, Platoon, what's the song of the day?
>> Um,
um, um, um, um.
>> Oh, well, since it's Project Hail Mary,
what's the one that What's her name?
Strat sings. Sign of the Times, Harry
Sty. I don't know the song. I just
remember that it's in the film, so it's
come to mind. I think it's Harry Styles
and I think it's Side of the Times.
We'll go with that and hope that it's
good cuz I don't know it.
>> There you go.
Uh, platoon. What if you were forced to
eat steak and the only way to avoid it
is to help a showrunner of Disney
Daredevil get Marvel leadership role?
>> Eat steak.
>> Yeah.
Uh, to save the Earth, all you need to
do is collect astroofasages from the
Prova belt between Venus and the Sun and
fill the huge lamps in Earth's orbit
with them.
Fill the huge lamps.
I'm not sure what you mean for sure.
Uh, I do think an important aspect here
that gets forgotten is that there's
still a time crunch here. They only have
a certain amount of time to produce
fuel.
I fair enough.
Uh, drinker did a Chris Stuckman and
advertised a very sus cash app. Guess I
know where his priorities lie.
Well, very sus and a scam. You know,
there's going to be a very significant
difference between those two. And then
of course there's a big difference
between people who do something about it
when that's found out uh and they didn't
know versus the ones that just let it
slide.
>> It is part of the cause. I mean it's
unfortunately you if you do what a
Stugman does and you basically just say
yes to absolutely everything. People
understandably assume that basically
anyone shilling anything on YouTube is
probably shilling some kind of scam cuz
there's there's a whole bunch of them
which are just total [ __ ] I think I
know the one they're talking about with
Drinker as well cuz that I've done a
couple for them and then there was a
story after I did the LA like midway
through I think I'd done the last one
for them then there was a story and it
was like oh it is a scam so I said oh
for [ __ ] sake but then it was
investigated and it wasn't a scam so I
said well for [ __ ] sake doubly [ __ ]
sake now because that's like what I
basic I said no to doing another one
with them just cuz I don't want to have
to figure out how to explain that to
people it's just annoying but
understandably I think people get really
um suspicious when anything is
[clears throat] just you product
placement, but it's not all the same.
That's that is something that has to be
said. You know, a gambling ad, which is
a gambling ad, is not the same as
something that you just think sounds
dodgy self-evidently.
>> Yeah. The example I would want to bring
up is candid. It's so perfect. The when
watching a bunch of videos in what would
have been dubbed the skeptic community
or skeptosphere, whatever the [ __ ] back
in the day, it's almost like a miracle.
There's this there's this place that is
all pro- free speech. It's called
Candid. Everyone can say what they
believe in and have good conversation
and spread good vibes and all this sort
of stuff. And you're like, "Wow, that's
Yeah. And then they're like, "Yeah, and
I'm sponsored by them and they seem
great. You should check it out." It's
like, "Oh, cool." Turns out the creator
is like, you know, censoring and banning
based on everything they personally want
or agree with and a lot of backend
[ __ ] and shady stuff. it gets
revealed and it's like well all right
everyone needs to sort of draw back on
that and it feels like it's it's
uniquely important to these creators to
be saying something about this cuz they
spend all day with videos talking about
how censored the even YouTube or Twitter
are it's like and this is something that
you not only took money for but told
everybody to to go on to so surely and
instead of because this is the thing
there's degrees to this you could say
it's bad and move on it's like there you
go you could say it's nothing or that
it's bad and continue to get paid by
them. Again, this is like a different
factor, but then say nothing, but then
you can say, you know, what they a lot
of them ended up doing, which is no,
it's fine. N don't worry about it. Nah,
it's good, actually. And it's like,
whoa. And it just felt like mega
corruption, I guess.
And I still feel bad that like the few
people that sort of the YouTubers that
stood up as a sort of like this is
terrible got near squashed by a wave of
all the others being like [ __ ] you. Stop
ruining our like you know our coin here.
Um cuz there was a sentiment too of like
who cares? Okay fine. It's a censoring
platform whatever.
>> Oh
>> the whole point of selling it is that
it's not that.
>> Yeah.
So, um, you know, it's for me it's just
it there's just a lot of pieces to the
to the story that define what kind of
person you're dealing with, and that's
important.
Who's Mary and why do we want hail to
fall on her?
>> I mean, it's got to be done. Yeah. Yeah,
it's got to be done.
>> What Super Mario Galaxy and the
Holocaust can teach you about the
meaning of life is a real title of a
real video essay.
I mean, I've I've obviously got to I've
got to see if that's true.
>> Is that real? Let's see.
>> Good [ __ ] god, it is.
>> Someone called stable stew.
>> Well, it's just Super Mario Galaxy. It's
not any There's nothing.
>> I mean, it's got 100k views,
>> but this video will be talking about
several heavy topics.
It opens with this video will discuss
several heavy topics. [laughter]
>> Really? [snorts] I think it's real like
like a like a honestly genuine like what
we can learn from Super Mario Galaxy and
the Holocaust.
>> Oh god, there's a chapter called
suffering.
>> Then it's just all Mario Galaxy footage.
What in the world? Okay, I'll have to
>> like, oh, the tremendous suffering of
the Lumas is they sacrificed themselves
to rebuild the galaxy, but they still
rebuild something better after the fact.
You'll be like, I would be my guess at
the theme of that video. But that's an
amazing title.
>> That's uh something else, man. All
right. You physically cannot click after
seeing that title.
Well, yeah. All right. Fair enough.
Uh, Fringy, what if the showrunner of
Disney's Daredevil was given Figi's role
at Marvel and the only way to undo it is
to admit that you are a bird.
>> I I mean I don't
>> I don't think What would change really?
It's not like Yeah. Yeah.
>> making good decisions.
>> Exactly. So I don't
>> Yeah. I don't I don't even know what the
point of that. Yeah. Means nothing to me
really.
Uh, if you could have any suit of armor
from fiction, what is it? Iron Man.
Probably. [laughter]
>> Probably the most versatile armor that
you can get.
>> They're so [ __ ] cool, though. Armors
you might grab just for the keep them in
like a little case. I wouldn't mind
Isaac's. It would be really [ __ ] cool
to have the
>> mind
armor.
>> Yeah.
Anyone you're thinking
>> I could actually wear it without it like
breaking my bones. That
would be a plus.
>> Mandalorian armor is kind of fun. Not
the Mandalorian armor, but Mandalorian
armor is quite fun.
>> Any particular one you you'd do?
>> I don't know.
Then Boba Fett just looks amazing.
Except when he gets old and fat, then he
looks [ __ ] But, you know, you wouldn't
want that version of him.
>> It's either that or it depends what
you're using it for cuz if you just want
to win basically every exchange ever,
then what you want is Captain Falcon's
armor because it's unstoppable. Like
he's ridiculous. He can't be killed. Um,
if you want to be cool and versatile,
Iron Man. And if you just want to look
cool, Boba Fett.
>> I really like Django.
>> Django is good. Mind you, same helmet.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Uh,
so what? So, they're asking they asked
that question, then they said, "So, what
is your choice? And why is it indomitous
pattern terminator armor?"
which
>> you're going to laugh cuz I thought I
thought it was something and then it
turned out to be this.
>> Yeah, this is apparently that.
>> Oh, okay. So, it's Warhammer.
>> It looks like every other one we've seen
of the last three weeks. Why? Yeah,
>> I think I might give this one some
credit of it feels like it's a little
bit different like the because the other
ones I always picture greens and um more
skulls and usually
>> but that's that's all the different it's
color scheme and number of skulls.
Everything [laughter] else is kind of
the same.
>> They're in a culture of skulls. It's
like saying, "Oh, all the Predators look
the same." Which, you know, you could
say that if you want to. All the Iron
Man armors look the same. They don't.
There's differences.
Also, when is Platoon going to get his
talky pixel PFP so we can fit in with
the other boys? Um, that's that's your
uh
when did Fringy get it? That's your
two-year or threeyear or something
reward question mark. I'm making that up
on the fly.
>> You are making that up cuz Yeah, I got
that much later than that.
>> Yeah. Well, just cuz you got it later
doesn't mean that's not why you got it.
>> Ah.
>> Logic there. Yeah,
>> the platoon's soon to get it probably.
When did you when did you become a host
again?
>> It was Captain America 4. So that would
be midway through 20 Well, no. When did
that was that summer 2025?
4. When was that out?
>> I don't know. I don't think anyone
remembers.
>> No,
>> I don't think anyone even knows. Lost
knowledge.
>> I think it was midway through last year.
Maybe it's
>> Oh, no. I typed Brave New World release
date. I shouldn't have done that.
>> There we go. February 14th, 2015.
>> 2015.
>> Sorry. 2025. [laughter]
>> Has it been that long already?
>> Uh, so yeah, you know, you're nearly
there and you'll get yourself a
wonderful little talkie PFP. It'll be
wonderful. Okay, I'll figure out how to
do that.
>> Uh 1k subs for Golem. I'm serious about
playing it.
>> All right, go for it.
Just be careful. They cut out an
important part of the book in which they
nuke Antarctica to release more
greenhouse gases that keep the Earth
warm to give them more time. Oh, yeah. I
remember a bunch of people wanted to see
that scene, and I I want to say they
either filmed it and it didn't make it
in or that they were considering filming
it and they didn't have the budget. I
think that was the reality he talked
about.
Uh there's a good interview with Tony
Gilroy on the Reason interview with Nick
uh Gillespie podcast. It will definitely
explain why Andor was great. Basically,
you have to write characters. That's a
crazy idea. It'll never catch on.
Carl, I am all the government crosses
lightsabers.
That could be in reference to so many
things. I found it annoying how the
movie reduced one of the most
interesting plots in the book, the fact
that humans are actually more advanced
than Aridians at physics, to a throwaway
line during a montage.
I can see that how it would how that
would annoy. I can understand that.
>> But I mean, it it does seem like from
what I've heard about the book that like
it's it's it's a bigger story than could
fit probably into a
>> into the runtime of a feature film.
That's what it seems like to me.
>> It's still a chunky film.
>> It is. Yeah. It's over two hours.
Uh,
how the hell does Rocky understand Grace
in the first place? How does the
vibrations that Grace makes speaking
translate to rock for him? Love the
scene and understand skimming Rocky's
side, but still.
Um, how does the vibrations of grace
make speaking translate to rock for him?
Are you saying like how does the
computer translate it or
>> because there's a lot of skips in time
but the intuition is that
>> you know object describe object with
sound sound gets plugged into computer
as name of object and then it keeps
feeding information to the computer over
and over and over and over and over
until it can devise something of a
translation which is about as good as
you're going to get for a film that's
not entirely about the translation.
Again, like I respect the effort. Um,
but it was something that I was super
interested in. Would have liked to see
more, but understand that the film has
to keep moving.
The Martian or Project Hail Mary, which
is better? I mean, I'd have to rewatch
The Martian, but I would assume it's
Hail Mary.
>> Yep.
>> Hello, my massives. Love to everybody.
Off topic, but I made Tonold's raspberry
balsamic ice cream from his cooking
videos. It's one of the best desserts
I've ever had, and everyone who's tried
it loves it. Shame he didn't keep a
series. Yeah. Um I think he's just
outright stopped, which is a shame, but
man, like what can you even say about
that? that we watched him go from, and I
don't mean this too insultingly at this
point, but he went from doing slop
constantly to grabbing trends to then at
one point trying to make like actual
videos that were really good and then
just stopped cuz uh I don't think they
just they just didn't do well enough.
Though, one of the last videos he did
was called Anthem 4 years later and it's
got one and a half million views.
So, um, you know, where is cooking
videos? I forget if that was on a
different channel.
But, uh,
yeah. Oh, there it is. What would Kattos
order at a restaurant?
Had a few of those kinds of videos. They
were fun.
Uh, to quote the Bible, "Greater love
hath no man than this, that a man lay
down his life for his friends."
That's the thing about Project Hail
Mary. It's a It's a big old friend
movie. This I like friend movies. Friend
movies are good.
Racist shirts were fantastic. I had
potential.
Yeah, there's some fun ones in there.
Might be a reach, but stating Earth
before ID Erid on the last message might
may imply how much Rocky also values his
friend's world.
Um, yeah, that's that's a that's a fair
inference to some extent. I was just
curious to have labeled Earth before
Arid. But hey, Rocky's a he's a polite
guy, you know.
>> Sure is.
>> I didn't understand the alien tech to be
amazingly more advanced. It is different
based on their physiology. Both have
limitations. Combined, each solve a
problem. Love EAB. Glad to support. Oh,
thank you. And
>> I mean, his ship is pretty crazy. like
it's it's a really cool uh ship that
seems to be uh more uh I guess in a
certain sense like malleable than our
human technology is like in terms of his
ability to create like a functioning
airlock and stuff like that. That seems
to be kind of almost the gist of the uh
of their technology. The impression I
got was that if let's say to reduce
technology down, there are five trees to
build uh and humans have built one or
two really well and the rest not at all.
Rockies have built the other three
really well and pieces of the other two.
That's that seems kind of where where
the comparison lies. Like we're doing
[ __ ] they can't do or don't understand,
but it seems that broadly they're
probably ahead of us.
>> Mhm. It's just a different tact,
different understanding, which is fun
and cool. Remembering infinite tisms
took forever to convince Soy Boy to join
them. He used his baby as an excuse.
Listen, you're you're asking me to
remember something from how long ago was
that?
>> I don't remember anything. That was
years ago.
>> Seven years at this point, I think
something crazy.
>> Was it actually that long ago?
>> Infinity
uh what was it actually called? Infinity
Wars.
>> [laughter]
>> No, it was Crisis on Infinite Earths.
>> That's it.
>> God, that was so bad. And then you find
out just like Yeah, it's cuz it was made
in like a month cumulatively. All the uh
all the Wow. And I mean also just that
those shows are terrible. Like all of
them. Every single one. I believe
they're all terrible. And I believe that
even the seasons that people say are
good of Arrow or not. Like I just look I
just need that to be known. They're
probably not good. Six and a half years
ago. Oh, no. Wait,
>> that's when it ended, but it started at
the end of 2019. So,
>> really? Yeah. Oh, cuz they decided they
wanted to do it the same year as
Endgame.
>> Part one was Supergirl.
>> Part two was Batoman, part three was The
Flash, part four was Arrow, part five
was DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
>> God. And do you remember cuz Green Arrow
shot a laser out of his mouth. Do you
remember when they were having a big
fight in a quarry with a bunch of like
floopy aliens that were flying around
>> just I mean oh and then um oh god it's
just everything about it was so
horrible. It's um it's and dude that was
so bad. Like what a what a what a crazy
thing that like a whole bunch of these
dog [ __ ] like DC TV shows were sort of
allowed to persist for so long without
anybody going we should probably like
maybe invest resources into making like
real television shows based on our uh on
our franchises.
>> Yeah.
Uh,
wish they made it more clear by saying
saving Rocky. Grace knew he would die of
starvation. He only has just enough food
to get to Arid. Rocky's food is toxic
and you'll die painfully. He does it to
save Rocky and Arid.
Oh, I guess that's a fair actual aspect
because uh when I watch that movie, I
take it as he knows he's never going to
go back to Earth, but he'll end up on
Erid rather than he believes he will die
on Erid, which is of starvation, too,
which is pretty rough.
I maybe I don't know. I was about to say
maybe the film didn't want to go there.
They wanted to go more to a we're you
know I'm going back for my friend and
I'll we'll we'll do our thing together
with the the end of the movie being like
hey maybe make it back to Earth as
opposed to I will starve with my friend
in order to save him sort of thing. I
don't know but uh an interesting
thought. [ __ ] it we ball. Grace pulling
off this mission pretty much. Yeah. He's
he's very metal commander coded.
Hail Mary. Yes. But what about the
hailing Pippen? Aha, I get it. Hope this
film gets a director's cut. Anyway, the
Ben 10 Alien of the Day. Oh, I guess
this will be something we can check out
a bit later. Ben 10 alien of the day. Is
that a new one that we're doing?
>> I might have to do something about this.
We've we've got way too many random
things of the day and it's just clogging
to an extent and there's lots of like
searching and posting that ends up
happening. That's uh I got to I don't
know when to put a draw a line, but you
guys uh we got between Warhammer,
Extinct Animals, Lego, Pokemon,
um and the rest. Adding Ben 10 as well.
We're getting some trouble here. Amaze.
Amaze. Amaze. Eap is covering Project
Hail Mary. I adored the book and enjoyed
the movie. Can't wait to hear y'all
discuss it. Well, we sure did. Imagine
if Avatar was this good. Imagine
[snorts]
>> they had three tries and they still
haven't pulled it off.
>> Maybe the fourth one.
>> Yeah, the fourth will do it. I was
expecting Matt Jabo to be on this
stream. Why?
>> I mean, you know, one can hope, I
suppose.
>> Oh, what? Cuz he collects boulders.
>> I see the connection, but he's
>> Yeah,
>> he's he's doing earth boulders, you
know.
>> That's crazy. What a what a loser. What?
[laughter]
>> I've always said I prefer that he
actually was that's just so much
funnier. Like he was he's a thing he
does with his son or whatever. They
collect boulders. What even the [ __ ]
>> I don't know. Just the fact that I
exclusively associate boulders with
large rocks, not small ones. That's like
pebbles. But no, I've been collecting
boulders. [laughter]
>> It's such a bizarre activity to collect
boulders. I don't know what the [ __ ] you
why would anyone would say that.
>> So just sad I went for a walk or
something.
>> Yeah.
Any other excuse? Uh I need those
Blu-ray deleted scenes. Well, I assume
it's out by now, right? Uh Hail Mary.
>> Uh I mean, yeah, it is. It's even out on
uh on Prime.
>> Why does Sheep Detectives look like
it'll be better than Knives Out? Um or
better than any of the Knives Out. I can
I would go as far as guaranteeing it is.
I haven't seen it, but I've seen
everyone praising it.
>> It would be hard not to be.
>> Mhm.
>> The Knives Out films are truly
horrendous.
>> Uh, EAB 24/7 when I don't know if this
is just a meme or if you're asking,
would we ever set up a channel where it
plays EFAB episodes in loop forever
constantly and uh cuz some people do
that, right, with with sort of shows
like ours. I don't know. I'm not against
it.
>> Does it?
>> That's 247 FMT one, I think.
>> Yeah, there's on Nerdic Live. He's got
>> I don't really see the points because of
the fact that like it's all on demand
anyway, right? Like because of YouTube
videos.
>> Well, I guess the the counter is just
that nobody loses anything, so why not?
Um but I I don't I don't I'm I am in
agreement with you. I don't see enough
why. Uh even if there's no no why not.
Mind you, it's kind of like um network
TV in a sense where streaming shows you
have to go and you have to make a
conscious deliberate choice, right? I'm
going to go decide what I'm going to
watch. I'm going to put that specific
one on, then that ends and have to do
another conscious decision where what
some people miss and even streaming
services are reintroducing channels that
do that for you. So Disney I think is
introducing one, Netflix is thinking
about introducing one where it acts
basically the same as cable TV does.
there is a playlist of content. It rolls
automatically and then you like you have
the additional it's part of the
unexpected fun of it maybe like you can
just tune in at any random point and
it'll be like oh that thing I remember
that and I would never have thought
necessarily to rewatch it. Um maybe
that's the thinking but I don't know how
I don't know how many viewers they get
or how many people want that sort of
thing but the big streaming service
seems to think it's useful.
>> It shall be considered.
Why didn't they just have Captain Marvel
reignite the sun? Are they stupid? I
don't know, man. Stupid, I think, is the
only explanation.
>> No, she was busy. Remember, that's why
she can't help. She's
>> There are lots of other planets that
need her to be committing genocides and
then fixing them and claiming all of the
credit.
>> I do wish that the trailer for Project
Hail Mary didn't spoil so much for
people who didn't read the book. What's
kind of funny about that for me is um I
saw the trailer and I remember at first
thinking it was just a guy who's lost in
space alone and he's not even like um
particularly well prepared for it cuz
he's there for other reasons. And then I
remember I don't know if it's trailer 2
or whatever when it happens but
revealing he meets like a crazy crazy
alien and and I remember thinking like
oh that would have been a fun surprise
actually. And then when I saying that to
people who are familiar with the book
they were like that's not even
>> like close to getting into how much
story there's left after that. It's
like, oh yeah, but I don't know. Would
have been a fun surprise. I don't know.
>> Uh, I think most hard sci-fi assumes
other life wouldn't have right or wrongs
near ours. It is neat to think social
norms of intelligent life could
converge.
A lot of sci-fi is hopeful. A lot of it
isn't.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, it depends on the genre that you're
talking about cuz Yeah. And I mean cuz
cyberpunk for instance is like
exclusively
basically dystopias.
>> I mean you can be hopeful and dystopian
in the sense of
>> No, you you [clears throat] can for
sure. Um that's pos that's for sure
possible. No, I get what you mean cuz
it's you know cuz it's uh you don't
necessarily want to look to the future
with like abject pessimism
>> like well we're [ __ ]
Oh,
>> but I mean you could probably say like
most stories are like that cuz most
stories end with the good guys winning.
>> Yeah.
>> So I almost wonder if there needs to be
a way that it could be break broken down
a bit further than just that because
Yeah. most stories are optimistic in
that sense. They think that things will
work out compared to I guess maybe in
past societies where tragedies were
considerably more common.
>> Uh you Mark and Metal should play R2
remake on fixed camera mod. So, I don't
know if I'm radical on this, but I don't
want RE2 remake to have a fixed camera
mod, much like I don't want the original
RE2 to be modded such that I can move
around in 3D.
>> Yeah, that game is built for that
perspective.
>> It's just like the original was built
for its own.
>> Yeah, it doesn't solve anything for
either of them to do that. It's uh when
you design a game from the ground up
with these things like you are
appreciating the person who put that
camera there for that reason and but
everything else it it feels almost like
you're doing a bit of butchering. It's
probably fun or whatever and to sort of
mess around, but I almost don't even
want to compared to doing other things.
Like eh
I'd rather play like a goofy item mixing
mode or whatever.
>> Um
but Marge, I thought you love Mario.
Yes, I do.
>> Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. You [ __ ]
[laughter] [ __ ]
>> Shut up. Shut up.
>> Shut up.
>> [ __ ] die.
>> Hey, I liked it just fine. Love you
guys. What we like to do. Oh, wait a
minute. We might be into the next one.
The Nintendo movies will be like the
Avatar movies. They'll make money.
People with will praise the visuals. And
in a month, they'll be forgotten. Sad.
You get the added thing with the
Nintendo movies where some people will
say this one is for the fans,
>> right?
>> That's why it
>> I'm a fan and I hated it.
>> That's what I keep saying.
>> Well, you two aren't the right kind of
fans. Okay.
>> To actually respect the creative
integrity of Super Mario Galaxy. Oh
well. No, it is insane because that
sentiment is around a lot like for the
fans when it seems to me that the same
metrics for fans of comics made in
movies or fans of games made into movies
and TV shows and stuff that seems a lot
more clear with those. But Mario, like
if we could just be honest, a lot of
people don't care about Mario as like um
>> no uh they don't think that it has any
like integrity essentially as a story.
like they don't they they think it's
like yeah it's goofy Italian plumber man
who like fights the turtle
>> and as as like again it's that
>> I don't even it's it's almost like
annoying to have to go it's like dude
the fact that like it is so enduring and
so tethered to many quality games you
can like say whatever you want about it
but clearly there is something that's
working from a storytelling standpoint
in Mario games clearly
um I don't know that anything can be as
successful uccessful as Mario is with
characters that people recognize. If
that wasn't the case, even in so far as
um the the oldest games of how well
they're able to communicate in an almost
like universal storytelling language,
who the good guy is, who the bad guy is,
and what your objective is. And then of
course, in the case of Mario G, I think
I think that's the big one. It's Mario
Galaxy that actually has like kind of
loftier
uh storytelling ambitions than the
typical Mario game. has a theme, like an
actual theme and kind of like a
worthwhile and and mature theme given
given that it is meant to be for all
ages and potentially, you know,
someone's first game when they're like 3
or 4 years old and it's trying to say
something. And meanwhile, the movie
that's based on it doesn't want to say
anything. To say anything would be to,
I don't know, alienate someone maybe.
So, never mind that. We'll just have
references. References to games that
aren't even Super Mario Galaxy for the
most part
because I mean there's that as well.
Super Mario Galaxy is nearly 20 years
old at this point. A lot of people, even
adults, you know, they haven't even they
have no familiarity with it. They
haven't played it.
>> Uh, y'all say Yoshi like you're in
Fargo. I feel like
>> I say it like Yoshi says it.
>> Yeah. Well, we said that on the stream,
but also that um I feel like the Fargo
people would say Yoshi or they would be
the the Fargo accent. I forget whether
even Midwestern accent, right? Which is
kind of wacky.
>> It is really wacky.
>> The Minnesota sort of. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Well, that's cuz it's like the
Scandinavian influence, right?
>> Yeah.
>> I'm not mistaken. German as well
>> in that part of America.
>> Very unique. Very fun. This film had a
better end with Bowser in a hot tub. Oh,
it better end that way. No, we'll get
that in the Super Mario Sunshine movie.
It'll definitely
>> I don't think they'll do the Sunshine
movie. They'll definitely The people who
>> I don't think so. Um I think
>> Are you serious? Like do you think they
definitely will do Sunshine or
>> Not even close?
>> Cuz my thinking is that they would say,
"Well, Sunshine isn't among the more
popular. Sunshine was one of the lower
selling like 3D Mario games, so it'd be
better to do Odyssey.
>> Just memeing. The fact that they skipped
it, they'll not do it now.
>> Yeah.
>> Which was silly.
>> Uh they probably should.
>> Well, yeah, cuz that's funny because
that has it that you know there's a
story built up with flood
>> as well as a I mean very poignant in the
early 2000s environmental message, you
know, that uh that I appreciate. They
would want a discussion to be had and
they maybe at one point said sunshine
and be like yeah you could and you'd
make money wouldn't make as much money
as doing galaxy and galaxy's better for
launching other properties so I don't
think we need to do sunshine we can move
on
>> damn it cuz we'll have Galaxy 2 uh that
they could probably do after this or
Odyssey or both and then by then we'll
have Zelda we'll have [ __ ] a bunch of
other [ __ ] and be like yeah we don't
need to do Mario Sunshine's a waste of
time we don't need to do that. Yeah,
which again it is pretty annoying
because it's you know Mario Sunshine's
got its own well and yeah and they've
already done Bowser Jr. as like kind of
the M and that's like yeah you you've
you've remixed it cuz he is in Galaxy
but I mean he ain't you know he's just
like sort of a boss that shows up every
now and then but uh as opposed to being
the main bad guy. So you know they they
probably said like yeah we've satisfied
it. There he is with his like uh you
know his his magical brush so it's all
good. We did it.
>> But did M actually focus?
>> Uh,
not. I mean, I don't know.
>> It was barely in the movie. So, no.
>> Yeah. No arc. Peach is so thoroughly
boring in those movies. So profoundly
dull.
They ruined her. Which is it's funny.
It's like, where does Peach rank for you
in terms of your favorite Mario
characters? like, well, she's not even
in the top 10. Um, however, like she at
least had a distinct personality, and
they were like, nah, I don't need that.
We need to make you boring.
>> Yeah,
>> we need to make you boring fight lady,
just like everybody else is the fight
person, except you're the best one.
>> They introduce Daisy at the postredit
scenes. It's like, oh, she's going to be
the tough go-getter fighting lady. So,
you mean just like the last one?
>> Yeah.
>> Crazy that they're like, "Oh, yeah, Rose
Luna's in this." It's like what's going
to be Oh, she's the damsel. It's like,
wow. [laughter] Okay. Interesting
interesting choice there that the that
the character who has like access to
cosmic power, it's like no, Peach does
too cuz they're sisters. It's like, oh
no, they they would No, they're they're
not though.
>> But okay, I guess they are now.
>> I came out of the latest Mario film with
three things. One, this happens and then
this happens and then this happens. Two,
I would rather just replay Mario the
Galaxy. And three, I could have
rewatched Project Hail Mary.
>> Sure.
>> All valid. Uh, let's be honest, this
movie does everything the fans want, and
that's a bad thing. But hey, that's
Nintendo fans for you. They only care
about good games and not the horrible
company, Give Me Star Fox show.
>> What fans want is a little complicated
cuz
>> Yeah,
>> you could have given I hate it.
>> Yep.
>> Well, we could have could have gotten an
amazing Galaxy movie. I mean, the thing
is the fans are probably set to be chill
with it as long as you hit a few basic
boxes. And I'm not even saying that.
>> Have them have cloud power up from
Galaxy to get that in there and it's
like, "Oh, I remember that.
>> I have good memories."
>> You can run on that for a little while.
>> Good memories for this
>> with something this potent. It won't
last forever. Um,
>> no. I mean, it's already got diminishing
returns. This movie made less than the
first one.
>> Well, that's and that's what sucks
because this is your so many cases of
this. This is your chance. everyone's
watching to make a story that everyone
can get invested in because everyone's
looking. It's It reminds me of phase
four of the MCU. Everyone's looking.
>> Do do good stories now.
>> And but then they're like, "No, we'll
just we'll just do the illumination
thing where we don't we don't do and I
mean it runs out. I mean, case in point,
I've heard people say this and I don't
buy it because of course I don't, but uh
that that new Minions movie was actually
like one of the more worthwhile things
that Illumination has made. didn't do as
well as the other uh Minions movies do
because everything
everything if it's not actually
innovating or or or sort of pursuing
like a high benchmark everything
eventually sort of fizzles out.
>> There's only so long that you can last
on superficial qualities. I mean, it's
funny, right? Mario is a good template
for as much as people might say it, they
would be wrong to say it. Mario doesn't
like rest on its laurels as a series. It
just doesn't like this is not something
that can be said for for that series.
Certain sub series you could say that
about maybe um but like the mainline
Mario games I mean it's even reflected
in the newest 2D Mario game like Super
Mario Brothers Wonders. It's it's Mario
games have a core formula for sure, but
there is absolutely a desire to try new
things and to to try and innovate in
specific ways. Um and I think that
explains the long-term health of the
series. It's It's both familiar but
often trying to provide a new experience
as well compared to, you know, what
you've got in Mario Galaxy, which is
just like, yeah, this is this is like
nothing. It's like it's l you [laughter]
know, like it's that's just kind of what
it is.
Fair enough. Super Mario doesn't have
story equals Resident Evil was always
bad. Jesus people get better arguments.
Yeah, I know. It's the usual.
Um, no. It is it is annoying how much
this comes because a lot of the
Spider-Man stuff was like it's a [ __ ]
superhero movie, dude. Like,
>> yeah,
>> it should be better. What the [ __ ]
>> Yep.
>> And it's always uh you just run the
consequences of the logic every time,
which is, oh man, you'd be very critical
of a superhero movie if it was well
written, huh? Be like, wow, this was
stupid of them. Why would they write
this? Well, idiots.
A lot of Nintendo fans are the Disney
adults of the gaming community, so I'm
not surprised it has defenders.
>> That's probably fair. Um, yes,
>> lot of Nintendo. Uh, sorry. This movie
makes you want Lord of Ring on PS4. Yes,
to some extent.
>> The it's for kids, so of course it's bad
argument should be illegal. And yet it's
always rolled out for this stuff. And
the only people rolling that argument
out are themselves adults often who
don't have kids.
>> What if what if their kid says it's [ __ ]
and wants it to be better? What do they
do then? Like it's for you, idiot. Like
what are you doing? [laughter]
>> And they never stop there anyway. It's
always it's never just it's for kids.
It's always it's for kids. And anyway, I
thought it was amazing.
>> Yeah.
>> So you're using kids as like your meat
shield. You should stop doing that. the
amount of Scooby-Dooes sort of revealing
the villain underneath the argument of
of like they they just like the [ __ ]
movie. That's it. They just like
>> And it really upsets them to know that
there's anybody in the world who has
expressed that they don't like it.
>> Like what's that? It's meant for kids.
It was you liked the movie all along. I
knew it.
>> Uh why does rags have six fingers?
>> That right.
What they said? Why does rags have six
fingers while drinking coffee? I don't
know why they said that, but all right.
All right. Um, dogs only have like three
fingers, right? Or four. I guess they're
not fingers technically. What I was I
was just thinking about how a lot of
people say like it's not meant to be
high art. And you always wonder, it's
like how much high art do you consume
person who [clears throat] says this?
It's like, oh, nothing. I don't even
read. It's like I just [laughter] find
it amusing when that argument is wheeled
out. It's like you say that as if you do
consume high art. As if you like make a
habit of um make a habit of going to
like the theater or going to um like m
uh not galleries. I don't know why I was
going to say a museum but also a museum
as well but like an art gallery or
something. Well, they always seem to
throw the same examples out because I
remember having when this film came out
having these arguments with people on
Twitter like it's like you expect every
film to be the Godfather. I like or it's
like I expect it to be at least as good
as the game from which it takes its
name, you know? It's not I'm not
expecting [ __ ] Michelangelo here. I'm
expecting it to at least match the
quality of the thing it's supposed to be
adapting.
>> But hey, is there anything wrong with
encouraging people to try and maybe
aspire to make like stuff that's
worthwhile instead of crap? I just I I
get frustrated with Yeah. No, I I just
want to make [ __ ] It's like [laughter]
I don't really respect that, but okay.
>> It's also cringey because it's just like
there's so many things I watch or or
celebrate when if someone take Obsession
for example. If someone said, "Is
obsession high art?" I'd be like, I I
don't know. It's really
>> The problem is like I mean I mean high
art is any movie high art? Some some
people would say no. There would be
people out and you'd think that they
were being ridiculous.
Um, but I mean in turn I think you're,
you know, you're being ridiculous for
not,
>> you know, you go, you know, it's like,
yeah, like I, it's almost like you need
to remind people there are people out
there who think movies are like, like
bad for like people essentially as a way
of getting stories. You will always find
someone more pretentious on that in that
regard.
>> How dare you? Clowns have to juggle.
Unicycles are hard to ride. How dare you
compare Mario Galaxy to the talents of a
clown? That's true. There is more
artistry to being a clown than is
present. Well, the animation's
Yeah,
[laughter]
>> sure.
>> The moment I saw them stuffing Yoshi,
Roselina, and Bowser Jr. here,
characters that could carry their own
solo movies, I lost all hope for being
good. I mean, that was inevitable.
They're spamming for uh the sake of
launching.
The best three movies can do is drive
people to the games for a better
experience. But that's me trying to be
optimistic about a clown singularity. I
I think that there's fairness to that. I
found that with a lot of different
things. Um especially like remakes or
legacy sequels. The one one thing that's
kind of nice is that it encourages
people to go like, "Hey, what was the
old thing again?"
>> True. But the thing is is that it might
be a very disappointing number in truth
that uh that we'll sort of pursue the
original or you know, whatever. It's
>> not worth it. Um, it's never worth it.
[clears throat] Like, it's not
>> worth a
>> uh the new Leo and Stitch remake thing
that some people went back and watched
the original. It's like, no, cuz the
damage is significant. Everyone will be
watching that at default now, the new
live action one, which is [ __ ] sad.
And I don't even mean that in a sense of
they're choosing it. I just mean that
they'll throw it on. It'll be on Disney
Plus or whatever. And like, there you
go. Throw that on. It's like, no.
Especially when the original's right
there.
>> Yeah. Exactly. But you do really lament.
It's like, yeah, how many, you know, how
many people say, well, I've seen it.
I've experienced it, so I'm not good.
You know, that's it. I'm good. It's
like, oh,
>> that's that's kind of tragic.
>> I'm sorry, but I'm done with nostalgia
and superficial visual effects being the
only good qualities of a movie. Well,
Hollywood ain't done with that, I'm
afraid. Plenty more to come. Wish
Nintendo lost money for this film, but
at least they lost their Pokemon patent.
Hate video game patents. video. Free
will probably mention Shadow Mortal.
Although I wouldn't hate you Dumbos for
playing DDLC,
the Nemesis system, right? Or something.
>> The Nemesis system, which Yeah. But I
mean, yeah, cuz it's like, yeah, that's
that's our system.
>> Okay, great.
>> Thanks, guys.
>> You know, yeah. No, it's I mean,
>> is there no way to contextualize it as
something else like to build the
similar? Well, I mean I mean bar I don't
really know much about like
>> there's a lot of patents. There are a
lot of patents. Lots of things get
patented
>> and like it doesn't necessarily Yeah.
prevent people from doing things that
are similar.
>> You you can you can recreate the basic
effects of a nemesis system. I can't
[clears throat] remember exactly what
the patent for the nemesis system is. I
think it's a system as a whole, but you
can it it's just way more timely and and
expensive than it needs to be. that you
are allowed to effectively create an
analogist system that does analogous
things. That's that's absolutely fine.
It's just you have to spend loads more
money and time doing it. Not that I'm
speaking from any kind of personal
experience whatsoever. Um but but but it
depends what the type of patent system
is cuz Nintendo ones for Pokémon were
absurd. It's like we're going to Payton
the very idea of capturing any kind of
monster in any kind of device and then
using that thing to [laughter] battle
anything else in any way whatsoever. So
So that's [ __ ] that's like when Apple
tried to patent a rectangle with a
circle at the bottom because that's what
the iPhone looks like. Obviously that's
horshit and it got thrown out.
Um, my worry was set in when Miiamoto
said in an interview before film
released that uh the film release was
challenging the fans to see how many
characters are in the film.
I'm not sure. I think that's not said
the way that it wants to be. Um, you
mean like the there's a quote saying
it's going to be a challenge for the
fans because of how many characters are
in it. It's like keep an eye out for all
of the references, all of the all of the
Easter eggs and everything. I spotted
the pianas. That's all that mattered to
me. I mean, it was a good film.
>> Yeah. Yeah, they were there.
>> Rags TFA part 6 when I'm sure he's
working on it. Beach and Roselina being
confirmed as sisters has all safe horny
artists in an uproar. That's probably
the one straight up positive impact from
this.
We We want them to be to be hobbed.
That's the way forward. Mario Movie 1
attempts to string his colors and
nostalgia with something of a plot.
Mario Galaxy movie. Dude, Star Fox.
>> Yeah, they gave
it's not only does it not want to be
highard and not only can it not match
the story of the game it's adapting, it
can't even be as good as the last Mario
movie,
>> which was
>> anything surprising like
>> No, it had a plot, I guess, which is too
much to ask now.
>> Yeah.
Uh, this movie reveals the secret of
Mario's jump, which is that it makes me
want to do Mario's jump off a very tall
cliff so that I can avoid it. Damn.
>> Haven't seen the film, but it sucks that
it sounds like it was made so cynically
compared to the first one. Guess Sonic
has the edge in the movie department.
Yeah, I guess
>> I I I wouldn't go that hard for like I
maybe I guess. Um, I feel like it does I
feel like those movies got away with
with a lot Sonic movies, you know?
>> It feels like they're more meme and
people are in sync with the memeiness or
something, especially the Jim Carrey
aspects.
>> There's that is the case, but like
people there were people who said that
they were like actually like genuinely
blown away by like the stuff with
Shadow. And it's like, dude, this is
like it's funny. We were just talking
about the pretentiousness, but I do
definitely have a thing of like you got
to like consume more stories. You need
to like open your horizons to the wide
breadth of potential stories and
characters and themes and uh progression
that is out there. Like if that [ __ ]
blew your mind.
>> Oh yeah.
>> Love you though.
[laughter]
>> Love you though. It's a meio.
So, it's safe to say that Iron Lung is
the closest that we have so far to being
called the best video game adapted film.
If not, which film? Well, we did talk
about that earlier.
>> Yes, we did. So, the answer is yeah,
maybe which uh
>> particularly with the amount of video
game adaptations that have come out over
the last few years and uh inbound
is um quite horrible in terms as a
ratio.
>> Cut scenes. Quick, invite Doomer on for
the CFAB. Oh no. Oh no. I'll do that
maybe in 30 years or something. What
shorts do you find irritating? I
particularly hate the ones that show
animated shorts with some AI narration.
Ones that were obviously created to tell
stories with the cringe narration. Uh
for me it's going to be the like triple
quadruple pentuple edited video of a
crushed up film that has an AI describe
the chopped up events and then an AI
voice doing it in some kind of like
horrible way. It might be like if it was
Lord of the Rings, it would be like this
man was living alone in a happy place
and it'll show Frodo and then it'll be
like he had to take his journey in order
to save his people or something and it
lost like a minute and then it's over
and it's just like the most disgusting.
It just feels like how the [ __ ] did this
get on my feet? Ew.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh, the sacrifice the Lumas make at the
end of Super Mario Galaxy extremely
meaningful, especially that your white
Luma does it as well. It sucks that in
the movie the Lumas are just goobers.
They're just minions.
>> Uh, yeah, pretty much. Yeah, which is
not even a surprise. That is a formula
that has made uh Illumination and
Universal a considerable amount of
money.
>> Everything Shagro Miiamotus had said
about this movie has been nothing short
of accidentally insulting to it and
Mario as a whole. It's embarrassing.
>> Yeah, it's unfortunate that and I I
suppose um what is depressing about that
is that um whatever it means that
Nintendo is involved in uh any of the
adaptations which they are more so than
like a lot of these studios or creators
are or get to be. I mean he is like you
know Nintendo is like a co-production
company on these movies. is Miyamoto is
um is like one of the producers for the
film. Um and the same will apply for
Zelda, I believe, and and probably will
be the case for all of them that like
whatever that it it doesn't actually
protect them as much as you might think
that it would is um is unfortunately the
sad reality. And it's kind of twofold of
you wonder what they might have been
told by the Hollywood producers that
needs to happen in order to make money
and they're like, "Well, that's like
your domain, so I guess we trust you on
that." Versus maybe like some of the
instincts they have uh are not quite as
as good as you would you would hope or
expect they would be given again when
you're talking about someone like
Miiamoto. It's like this is a immensely
he is an immensely valuable creator like
immensely. um is he's he's in a
particularly unique class of uh of
people who've contributed to like art
and culture. Um so, you know, it's a bit
bit sad in that regard. If uh if he's
really very pleased with that movie,
that's like disappointing.
>> It's like and I think I made this point
on FNT as well. There's also the slight
worry of crosscontamination if like you
don't want to be telling Nintendo that
this is how easy it is to make money
with Mario because if they're sitting
there for they been well we we're going
to release one of these every you know
like 5 to 10 years cuz they really want
it to be the next big thing. They want
to make sure it's unique and different
and it's the best it can possibly be and
then along comes this movie. You can
[ __ ] it out in 6 months and it makes a
billion. It's like do you want Nintendo
to take the lesson that you don't have
to work hard to make money on this
franchise? because ultimately they are a
company and companies will take the
shortest route to money available. So
I'd be just a bit worried that they'd
start lowering their own standards if
this kind of thing carries on.
>> I think that is a totally valid fear.
The only hope would be that there is
some sort of company culture that exists
that sort of explains the decisions that
they made throughout their history um
that perseveres even in the face of
>> you know whatever amount of money is to
be made from these movies or the
licensed like theme park stuff. But you
know I mean it's it is worrying for
sure.
Now I'm worried uh if Miiamoto wants to
make a Star Fox film, he'll probably go
to Illumination to make it or want a
barebone story to it.
>> Uh yes, probably. It'll probably be
Illumination. Uh maybe DreamWorks
because of the partnership with
Universal, but you know, I mean I mean
is there any particular like major
American animation studio that would
make you like more like if it I mean not
that it would ever happen, but if it was
Pixar, would that be especially exciting
to you right now? Um,
>> dude, could you imagine they announce a
Pikmin film and you're like, "Okay,
fine, fine." And then they go, "Oddman's
doing it."
>> Oh, that would be Yeah. See, that that
would be the thing if that was
happening. That'd be like, "Ooh." So, it
could actually be like really awesome.
But that won't happen.
>> No, it won't. But it would be like, "Oh,
that's going to be their best film. It's
not even close."
>> Sure. But it would be their best film.
It's like, but you're not even that into
Pikmin. It's like, doesn't matter.
>> Doesn't matter. [laughter]
>> No. Fringy. Who would want to watch a
galaxy hopping adventure?
>> Nobody.
>> No, that's Yeah, nobody would want to.
>> I miss rag send scritches to the good
doggo. Of course. A friend telling me
these movies can't slow down due to
there being four decades of Mario
content and Miiamoto who needs to
oversee it is getting old. That is what
[laughter] does that even mean?
>> There's four decades of Mario content
and we need to squeeze them into a
90-minute film. If there's four decades
and your second movie is Galaxy, it's
like, how skipping are we going here?
Holy [ __ ]
>> Yeah, if you were a little bit more
careful and patient, you can make this
last for another 40 years.
>> Yeah, this movie has five games in it.
Barely any galaxy at all. The titles are
straight up lie. Zero out of 10. Not
enough Roselina.
Well,
>> yeah.
>> Yeah.
Um, Incredibles, the movie that made me
love movies and superheroes. Can't wait
for the day you cover it. I'll wait
however long it takes. It'll get covered
for sure.
>> For sure. I mean, we got Incredibles 3
coming soon.
[laughter]
>> Yeah.
>> It's a real shame because Brie Larson's
strong passion for the source material
showed big time in the press tours.
Feeling pretty bad for it. To be honest,
they totally used that. Like she
probably told them and they were like,
"All right, do it.
>> Yeah, we we'll we'll use that." And um
and yeah, I mean she's got the cred. She
was talking about how much she liked
this stuff before it was as popular or
profitable to uh
>> to do that. Um, and when you listen to
her, it's it's pretty clear that she's
quite passionate about it, which yeah,
it's it's kind of unfortunate that
whatever whatever passion there was. I
mean, she only had like what, maybe like
15 lines of dialogue in the whole movie,
like she's really not a part of it at
all.
I focused when I saw it. You I'm sure
you did.
>> I'll bet you anything of the fan film by
a fox in space will be better than the
one they Yeah. Nobody's
>> uh Yeah. I mean, that's not even there's
no point in even bringing that up. It's
it's way better. Like a Fox in Space is
super worthwhile. Um, just fun at its
core. Um, but I mean, A Fox in Space is
like one of the best like fan projects
like ever really. It's uh very
impressive.
>> Yeah. Saying they're they're not going
to beat that is like that's just a
guarantee.
>> I mean, the reality is it would kind of
it would be it would be quite hard to
like it's it's quite good a Fox in
Space. Um it's uh it's
like and and and it's it's very much a
case of uh because I say like when there
how do how would I want to put it? Uh
there are certain projects I'm like
pretty on board with pretty much any
like animation project that anybody
tries to do like on YouTube or
independently in any capacity. Um that's
really cool. Um, however, A Fox in Space
on top of that does have like I it is a
a really unique and cool
um like uh essentially idea for a
project. It's got like a very
distinctive style that it's pursuing
that's quite unique. Uh and on top of
that, I'm just like broadly impressed
with the quality of the writing in uh in
in that series. It's um it's quite
strong and and quite unique um given
essentially I suppose what could be said
to be more like the normal trends of uh
not just um not just projects of that
kind but also like western like
adultoriented animation in general. Um
even down to the fact that there's
really like not a lot of swearing in it
which is something that you would
probably typically expect from uh from
something like it. Um it's just really
impressive. So yeah, it I mean this this
film absolutely crumbles in the face of
comparisons to something like that. And
of course it's an example of much more
tasteful Easter eggs and references to
the games. Much more thoughtful and
considered and subtle.
>> Yeah. Um they also said like get him on
and it's just like um listen if we had
that kind of power. Okay. Just to grab
him whenever we can, you know. Uh I bet
you anything. Oh wait. Yeah. So, get
them on. I I don't worry, Mubes. They'll
do a Sunshine one in phase five when
they need to get the fans back. Sure. Or
it'll be a Disney Plus TV show.
>> Yeah. Or Peacock, right? Cuz it's
Universal.
>> Yeah.
>> Peacock original series.
>> Everyone who's seen Minus One prefers it
to the Mario Galaxy movie. Like, yeah, I
would. If that's what you're saying,
100%. Uh, can we just get kid movies
like Secret of Nim mature enough to
appreciate as an adult? Well, yeah,
100%. Also, Mrs. Frisbee, lowkey best
female character in animation. Mrs.
Frisbee,
who that ring a bell?
>> I think between the three of us, we've
seen a lot of animated films, and I do
not know who you're talking about.
I'm so sorry. Illumination needs to do a
Star Fox movie or series that in 2D
style they showed. They won't because 2D
requires talent and effort. Star Fox
movie like that with a good story, a
felic dream.
>> Um, 3D requires talent and effort.
>> Incredibles is 3D, guys.
>> Yeah, like 3D is the the my it's it's
more so the frustration that I have with
3D is that it is the only viable. It's
the only thing you're allowed to do uh
in terms of feature films like in in in
the West anyway. That's a frustration.
not with the actual like again it's qu
it can it can be quality
also Mrs. Frisbee is from Secret of Nim,
but I'm afraid I just I haven't seen
that since I was a kid. So, I should
probably rewatch it though. It does get
referenced every once in a while.
Puss and Boots, multiple track films,
Sonic movies, and The Lego Movie exist
with coherent plots. Oh, Lego Movie.
Does that count as a It's more of a
>> That's not a video game. That's a toy.
>> It isn't, but it is. there's Lego games,
but like the film isn't adapting the
game, but that the game adaptations
don't often adapt the games anyway for
video game adaptations. So, if you know,
like how strict or how broad are we
being? But if if the Lego movie were
ever in the race, it would win like uh
>> cuz it's the first one. It's very very
very good.
>> Um, but here's some other children's
media. Gargoyles and Lord of the Rings.
We need standards for kids media. Well,
I saw Lord of the Rings when I was a
[ __ ] child, so and I adored it, you
know, like it's uh I know that um The
Hobbit is more child-friendly than Lord
of the Rings and everything, but at the
same time, as a child way preferred Lord
of the Rings movies to the Hobbit ones,
just saying. Oh, it's not anything to do
with the the content or anything. I just
the tragedy that was the I don't like
thinking about the whole um the Lord of
the Rings is the OT, the Hobbit is the
prequels, and so Lord of the Rings is
now in its sequel era. It sucks. It's
like, no, we didn't spend long enough in
the other eras.
But yes, better standards for kids
media. Troy as Yoshi in the morning.
All right. I wonder how much should be
blamed at Illumination itself Nintendo's
involvement in terms of lack of story.
Recent Nintendo especially seems adverse
to giving any character development or
depth even in Mario RPGs.
Um, there's maybe something to be said
for that, but I mean I I hold a lot of I
mean Illumination
are like reliably
>> guys, the Grinch movie. Okay,
>> that dude.
>> Oh, I forgot about that. I mercifully
forgot about that and then decided to
remind me. Yeah, sure was.
Uh,
>> Illumination just uh they seem to give
up when it comes to sequels.
The Grinch wasn't a sequel.
>> I think they give up when it comes to a
lot of their movies because they don't
they're very successful despite being
pretty pretty hollow a lot of the time.
>> Fortunately, they seem to know exactly
how to be successful and [ __ ] at the
same time. They cracked it.
>> Mhm. Yep.
>> Uh oh, yeah. Well, the follow-up super
chat says, "Illumination seems to give
up dot dot dot." That's it. So,
>> there you go. Yeah. The saddest thing
about this movie is that it killed Yoshi
and replaced him with his evil twin
brother, Yoshi. And it's it was done
offscreen. My god.
>> Yoshi got bested too easily. Would that
be Roselina?
I assume.
>> Uh yeah, I mean got beaten pretty
effortlessly. Yeah.
>> Mhm.
>> Hello there. This is Gruff. I'm
currently on EAP 209. Play Tree Pang 2.
Okay. In the original games, Peach
needed to be saved, but in this, she is
a Mary Sue superpowered being that might
even beat Bowser and Peg Mario.
>> Well, she is the most powerful character
in that universe now.
>> Yeah, like canonically.
>> And she does do all the saving. And
she's also the best physical fighter, so
she does meet and everybody loves her
inexplicably. So, she does kind of meet
all the the requirements.
>> Yes.
>> Oh, yeah. That's great news. Really adds
to the to the whole thing. Uh, never
forget Fringy put Mario Sunshine in his
top 10 worst video game endings video.
Sunshine was the TLJ of the Mario
series.
[laughter]
>> It's a It's a wacky ending.
>> I love it.
>> It's It's [laughter]
how dare you ruin our vacation.
>> I just like the idea that it's the TLJ
of Mario series. Like everyone's going
over like [ __ ] sunshine. It destroyed
everything.
Uh, Fring, have you seen the Bowser
versus Eggman death battle? Death Battle
is a hit or miss channel, but that fight
had great characterization for both
teams.
>> I've not I haven't watched many.
>> I would thought Doesn't Eggman win that?
>> Uh,
why do you say that?
>> Well, cuz I'm assuming they both get
full access to everything. Eggman,
I don't know. Bowser is going to need
Bowser's got a lot of like tech that he
has access to more than you might
realize.
>> Maybe we should run this in an an
ultimate showdown video game character
edition and we can find out definitively
who wins.
>> I think I think that one's not as I
think I think it the instinct would be
like well yeah it would be Eggman,
right? Because of all the stuff he'd
have access to. I was like, "Well,
Bowser's got like he's got like an
airship armada."
>> I feel like his tech is just
categorically lower than Eggman's
highest tech, though.
>> Well, Mario Galaxy Bowser has the thing
that's going to destroy the galaxy, so
he can rebuild it. That's pretty
impressive. Can Eggman destroy galaxies?
>> Be fair, I have not played enough Sonic
to be able to tell you that. He probably
has at some point.
>> He He can build I mean, he built like a
thing that split like Earth apart. I
remember that was in Sonic Unleashed.
>> Yeah.
>> What?
>> He did that in Sonic Unleashed.
>> Yeah. He had like some big gun and I
remember it was like um he got something
from like the Chaos Emeralds or
something like Chaos Energy or whatever
it's called and he harnessed it and then
it like split the earth open and there
was like some sort of Lovecraftian
monster inside of it.
>> Okay.
>> So, the point being both of this is what
I'm saying. Both of them have access to
pretty crazy uh power through
technology.
>> Who would you put the winner as uh if
you had to guess straight away?
>> Uh the thing is is that well I was about
to say Bowser has access to magic, but
like Sonic probably has magic in it too
or something somewhere.
>> Count as magic.
>> Uh well, I don't know. That's probably
science, isn't it? That feels like it's
more science fiction than magic. But
there probably is magic in like Sonic as
well. I think if Sonic is more sci-fi
though, I guess inherently, but um but
that might be a mistake.
I don't know. I actually have no idea if
it was like I mean obviously in a fist
fight Bowser wins. Bowser is innately
more powerful.
>> Oh yeah, I would assume that. Yeah. Um
Shrek is Dre. Damn. Why be Lord of Bones
when you can be Lord of Ring?
Oh,
uh, I literally just got the Yoshi egg
advert. Yeah, that was the thing I was
saying when I went to see Mario movie
that [ __ ] hell the ads like just like
six different Mario related ads right
before it. Like, man, I'd like to know.
Well, I guess how I was about to say how
much they pay for that, but there's
probably some kind of way to loop it,
right? like cuz it's your thing to add
ads of your stuff to your thing and spam
it. Merchandis thing is crazy though. I
don't I haven't really seen any uh Yoshi
eggs in the wild that much. I don't know
how what I don't know if they kicked off
or not. People like them.
Uh Fringy is the top rapper Eminem
couldn't diss.
>> I don't know about that.
>> Maybe Optimus Prime and Little Foot's
mom dying stand out to me. Use my IKEA
money to get new AA batteries for
platoon smoke alarm. Oh, did you get
that fixed?
>> Yeah, but it's not a battery one. It's a
means one, so it required an
electrician, but it is now fixed.
>> Yay.
I got dragged to this by friends who
wanted to hang out. I don't like Mario
games generally. The movie annoys me by
virtue of having a plastic soul.
Does it have a plastic soul or just no
soul?
>> Questions for the ages. I feel Nintendo
creatively died with Iwata.
H
>> uh I don't
>> not very fair I don't think might just
be too intuitive to pick that you know
as like an event that would do that.
>> Well I mean you're saying they haven't
done anything creative in the last 10
years with that
>> which isn't very fair.
>> I just don't agree with
>> Listen, okay, there's been mistakes.
There's been Metroid Prime 4 shaped
mistakes.
>> That's true.
Buddha was in the casino because
everyone at the table was from Mario 2
on the Ness just like the stars Peach
defeats. Uh might be showing my age a
bit. No, that's fair.
>> And again, that's that defeats the whole
it's for kids. It's like dude, do you
think any kids are going to like that?
>> No.
>> I mean, at this point, like a lot of the
kids are watching the movie were born
after Odyssey came out.
>> Uh do you think Scarlett Johansson
really regrets that lawsuit now? She
could have been in Doomsday. Not only do
I think she doesn't regret it, I don't
think she'd even necessarily be in
Doomsday if she hadn't had the [ __ ]
lawsuit. The thing for her is that she
makes movies uh unlike a lot of her
co-stars.
>> She's in a bunch like she's in Wes
Anderson movies recently. The
>> uh she's also got a franchise. She's got
Jurassic Park now. So,
>> you know, they're going for
>> it's a side of the complex human being
where you can say she makes movies and
also Jurassic [laughter] World.
It's so true though. Uh, still don't
forgive them for refusing to credit
Grant Kirk Hope, the composer and
lyricist and Chris Sutherland, voice
vocalist for the DK rap in the first
movie. Yeah, that was that's some
[ __ ] That is some
>> my memory was when Mr. Silver died in
Treasure Planet. This is when we were
discussing like different sort of
impactful [ __ ] from kids movies. Does
Galaxy hurt the first Mario movie?
Question. Um,
>> probably.
>> Probably. Yeah. I don't think we did. We
take that angle at any time cuz I it was
weird. Just cuz I'd titled the stream
something like it's an anthology or or I
think I called it Super Mario Galaxy
Doomsday and then an anthology of colors
and shapes, I think, is what I called
it.
>> Point being, it just feels like a
disconnected random set of scenes that
are just like, here we go, here we go,
here go. So, it's like, does it [ __ ] up
the first one? was like, "It's not even
[ __ ] a sequel to the first one in a
way."
But yes, it's infinitely stupid that
Bowser and his Coopers take forever to
understand or don't understand that they
are somehow invincible and flesh is
gone.
>> Well, I don't know what to say to that.
>> Yeah, he falls into the lava and then
they pretend he's dead and then he just
climbs out and says, "Huh, I am Jar
Black."
>> He does say that.
My favorite Mhler joke that no one
noticed. Drinker. Oh no, Cthulu is here.
Mhler, my lord. Yeah, it's a
it's a double meaning. Uh, the one thing
I find funny with this movie is that it
pisses off the shippers. They're angry
that Peach and Roselina are sisters now
and are having a meltdown. While certain
artists are happy to try to imagine the
opening of the Siege of Minister without
its music, you can't. It's that integral
to the scene. Music is just as important
as the actual visuals of a scene.
Oh, you are you saying that's like like
the damage that's been done to these
people? Because I I find it funny,
honestly. I think most people do.
[laughter]
>> Uh, Gollum would win an argument with
this film's fans. Yeah, he's he's pretty
good at it. Yeah, there's a whole game
about that.
>> You cannot brace for the grace. No
grace. Mario says those things because
he's an Italian caricature.
Grace's screen is almost as bloated as
Windows 11.
Good old Randolph. Grace Randolph is the
very thing I saw in Pokémon Go when it
first came out. Hijacking niche thing
for the trend and I was called a
gatekeeper.
We need more gatekeeping. I think at
this point what would anti-duma be
called? Bloomer.
Yeah, maybe. Kind of works sort of.
Brawl subspace campaign stream when I
think that's more of a fringy thing than
than all of us.
>> And that's not even something I'm that
interested in doing really.
I went back over it for the because I
did a video on on galaxy movies. So I
went back over the subspace hemisphere
would have been a fun movie I think is a
good premise for one but like an
Avengers level one where you've done
>> a series of films building up to it
>> which they will do. They will do an
Avengers level threat but it will be
probably poo poo and it's going to piss
us all off cuz we'll have plenty of
characters to be a mad at
>> being included.
Chicken Gracie. Chicken Gracie.
Ah, yes. My favorite EAP member is Green
Fringy.
>> Oh, look at him go.
>> Sorry, what did she say about
Tourette's? Uh, basically like the the
man with Tourette's should not be in
public spaces because he'll insult and
offend people, which is disgusting.
>> Managed to recreate from the ground up
an argument for segregation and it was
really [ __ ] funny. But yeah, it's
like, well, maybe they should put
special pens for disabled people.
>> Grace, what are you doing? It's
remarkably insensitive when the [ __ ]
whole point of him being there is that
inspired a story, a lifed story that
inspires a film that's all about how a
lack of knowledge, a complete ignorance
basically like malign and marginalizes
all these people when they wouldn't need
to be. And then she's like, we can solve
their problem by marginalizing them.
It's like, what the [ __ ] Grace?
And uh and she was passionate about it,
too. Like like it's it's his fault for
being there. He should leave sort of
thing. And I think he even apologized,
right, which everyone was like, "No,
that's so [ __ ] up." But of course,
it's not like any kind of criticism on
him as a character, like as a person. I
mean, his character um because it's it
just naturally you're going to want to
do that, but that's the whole point. You
shouldn't have to.
Uh pain, pain, the pain in Mal Solid 3.
Yes. Every frame a horrific grace face.
You can pause it with some wackiness for
sure. Uh, indoctrinate me in Nintendo
World
actual quote is from her apparently. I
can believe that. A shilling for Super
Mario incomprehensibility meter. Most
fake fans are just trend chasing
consumers, but she's [ __ ] insane.
Anyway, uh oh, anyways, guys, but um in
the words of Mhler, if her brain
exploded, would it even mess up her
hair? I remember that.
You move from the screen to the screen
from the screen. In fact, you move from
the screen to the ring to the screen to
the pen to the king. If you know, you
know, I don't think I do know.
>> Do not know.
>> Sounds very specific, but yeah, I got
nothing.
Um,
what's your opinion on kill monga or
sorry, un alive manga? I don't know. But
that's a funny like litmus test you can
have for anybody. Hey, what do you think
of kill? Actually, now it's what do you
think of Killilmonger, Wanda, and Jean
Gray? Just answer me that before we
continue. They did it. Okay, the way
that they did it, Grace, probably
situational relationship, Mario and
Peach.
I will be the final super chat today.
Final supercat is me. I am the final
supper cat now. Beautiful.
So, we have a collection of things to
check out. I need I need to collect
them. So you guys are going to have to,
you know, discuss politics, I suppose.
>> All right.
>> What is your opinion on the status of
the monarchy and Mushroom Kingdom?
>> Uh,
I don't know. That's I mean, are they is
it is there is there a parliament in the
Mushroom Kingdom that exists that we
just never hear about? like is is
Princess Peach kind of symbolic
or you know rather than like an actual
you know the monarchy isn't doesn't
actually wield that much power.
>> Well, my thinking is cuz Mario Galaxy
implies that it wields absolute power
because she takes care of absolutely
every problem on the island but on in
Mushroom Kingdom even and then she just
[ __ ] off and leaves them to their own
devices. So I think we need a toad
workers collective to rise up like the
French Revolution and behead her and
take power for themselves.
That's what we see in the movie though.
That's the thing. That's in the movie.
So whether or not that
>> should be assumed as being accurate to
what's present in the games, I guess the
problem is we just don't see like the
day-to-day running of the Mushroom
Kingdom and
>> whether or not it's a, you know, it's a
monarchy that's actually got like any
power or if it's just, hey, just sign
all the all the bills that get passed in
the Mushroom Parliament.
>> The mushroom parliament.
I wonder if they have a House of Lords
style system or if it's like an actual
like proper Senate.
>> Who goes in there? Because I'm assuming
the Toads are the commons. So, who would
be
>> uh Well, yeah, cuz who's the like landed
gentry of the Mushroom Kingdom?
>> Not Mario either, I guess, cuz he
doesn't I don't know that he he's I
mean, he is a working class workforce.
>> Yeah, that's true. He is he is a I
wonder if he's a citizen yet. he's been
living there for a while or if he's just
got like permanent residence sort of
status in the Mushroom Kingdom.
>> The next game is he loses his green card
and gets kicked out of the country and
has to find his way.
>> There's been there's been a recent
election. The sentiment has changed and
it's [laughter] about Mario dealing with
that reality.
>> Keep importing Italian plumbers to do
jobs for good toads. Toads deserve the
jobs. [laughter]
Mario out.
I'm just imagining a bunch of toads.
They took your [laughter]
took.
And then Mario pretends to be there with
them wearing like a a mushroom hat.
[laughter]
We hate that Mario guy, don't we? He
took our jobs.
>> Have you got your uh stuff compiled
there, Meoob? Or we need more? I'm a
third of the way through.
>> Okay. Um,
>> we haven't figured out who the landed
gentry of Mushroom Kingdom is yet, so we
should probably get that sorted.
>> Uh, Wario is like a businessman. He He's
like he's he's pretty he's pretty
obsessed with money. He's fairly rich, I
want to say. I assume that he might that
might be the C. But then again, I mean,
well, cuz he's cuz he's Italian, too,
isn't he? They they all are. and he's
more like the capitalist class whereas
the the landed gentry might be like
inherited.
>> Now I'm just imagining the idea that
he's like making lots of contributions
to whatever political party. Like that's
what Wario does. [laughter] He's making
all of these political donations and
creating like a super PAC or something
for whatever his preferred party is in
the Mushroom Kingdom.
>> Lobbying Toads to change daylight saving
time and all of his other things.
capitalists do.
>> That's uh when did daylight savings get
created initially?
>> I want to say the 20ies
was it a war thing? Most things like
that end up being a war thing.
>> Um
>> that's a guess invented.
>> God, apparently uh
man, [clears throat] it's it's funny.
Wikipedia has the history going back to
like the 19th century. Um
it's uh but hm it was uh yeah daylight
saving sun was first implemented in the
United States to conserve energy during
World War I.
>> Oh there you go.
>> And so most places ended uh it after the
war ended. But then it happened again in
World War II and it was standardized by
the United States by federal law in 1966
and widely adopted in Europe from
[snorts] the 1970s as a result of the
70s energy crisis.
Oh god. So what so why do we even do it
then? [laughter]
Why are we still doing it? That's
>> understand why Europe does it because it
sounds like it's poor person time. So
like we need it.
>> I [laughter]
cuz it's funny. It's a common myth in
the United States that daylight savings
was first implemented for the benefit of
farmers. That's what I thought. I
thought it was because of farmers. I
didn't realize that but apparently it's
not.
cuz I Yeah. Okay. Wow. H
sure there's a story about like the guy
who invented it or someone who advocated
for it in the early days figured that
like he would have longer in the
evenings to play golf. I'm sure there's
a guy who made that argument
>> and then it was just widely adopted. So
many of these world changing things turn
out to be like a war thing, b just
hilariously badly justified and see they
just carry on even though nobody can
really figure out why anymore.
Yeah. Now that's um though it's funny
when you look at a map it's uh there's a
lot of places that are listed as
formally using it and then not not
really many countries that never did it.
That's the interesting thing. It looks
like that a lot of the countries that
never did it is a lot of uh African
countries specifically clustered towards
the center. Um yeah, kind of like
tropical countries because it's like Ven
looks like Colombia and stuff didn't do
it either. And then most of the world
used to do it. And the only places that
still do it is pretty much all of
Europe, most of North America, uh Chile
and [laughter] and a few states here do
it cuz it's uh cuz not everywhere does
it here either. Not which which makes
our time zones incredibly
straightforward. In the summer,
it's it's particularly bizarre to almost
figure out. Queensland is at the same
position as New South Wales and Victoria
in terms of its, you know, but it's it's
it ends up being an hour behind and
therefore half an hour ahead of South
Australia [laughter] because daylight
savings is done in South Australia, but
not in the Northern Territory and not in
uh not in Western Australia.
>> So Queensland and Summit is half an hour
behind South Australia even though it's
further to the east.
>> It's further to the east. That's the
thing. It's actually further ahead.
God, I never knew that daylight savings
is is silly, isn't it? [laughter] Isn't
it really? That's what that's making me
realize. I thought it was
>> There must be a reason. I just don't
know what the reason is
because I know there's that thing that
when they change it every year when you
go on and off it then it causes a whole
bunch of problems because every like
random things people crash more
>> I think people suffer random heart
attacks more as well like loads of
health things but only for like the
weeks immediately pre immediately after
the the change in time zone then
everyone adjusts again. Um, but there
must be some benefit to it. Surely, mind
you, no. Actually,
>> I think I think the main one is that the
the the sun is out more so during waking
hours like and that instead in instead
of in summer, the sun comes up at like
4:00 a.m. Comes up at like 5 or 6 or
something.
>> So, it's more like in line with the fact
that, you know, human beings tend to be
awake longer in the afternoon than uh
than they are in the morning. So, like,
which I guess probably makes sense in in
Britain because like in some places you
got the sun coming up at like 4 in the
morning or something stupid, which never
gets that early here or that late, I
suppose. Conversely, I remember cuz when
I went to the UK in the summer, I I uh I
remember I went and watched a movie and
then I was like, "Oh [ __ ] I'm going to
get out of this at like 11:00." And then
I went outside and it was still it was
still like pretty bright.
>> Yeah. like night wasn't that dark and
that was very surreal because that is
not that is not the case here. It gets
it gets very dark in summer.
I guess there's a logic there but yeah.
No, I always thought I you know why I
thought it was farmers. Mhler knows why.
>> I'm searching for things. What's
happening?
>> I Why do you think that I thought
daylight savings was bit about farmers?
Uh,
is that a reference to something that
I'm forgetting?
>> Yes.
>> Ignore this image for now, but go on.
What is it?
>> Homer cuz Homer's like, "Ah, you know,
the first time I've been to work."
Exact. Yeah. Except for those stupid
daylight savings tasty farmers. That's
why I thought it was related to
>> which is funny because it's not the only
place I've heard that as like the
reason, but it never
>> Well, apparently it is. It is a common
myth. apparently
>> it never sat well with me because I was
like farmers don't farmers get out
before the [ __ ] sun rises regardless
of the [ __ ] time. You know what I
mean? Like they
>> they they start early and they end late
any regardless of
>> according to good old Wikipedia farmers
are one of the strongest lobbying groups
against daylight savings
>> which yeah does make sense cuz yeah
they're getting up no matter what like
like the idea that it's for their
benefit doesn't really Yeah. And also
just the fact that apparently the reason
why it was um implemented was war
related. It was related to World War I
and two and efforts to save energy.
Um yeah, I mean I you know how you learn
something new every day. Thanks
Wikipedia. I will not take Wikipedia
slander. Okay, I won't stand for it.
Reading Wikipedia articles gives you
more knowledge than a lot of people
have. A lot of people just don't even
look into anything for why they believe
anything. I'll take Grock. Thank you
very much. All right.
>> Oh, yes. That's right. Yes. Grock, the
replacement for Wikipedia. Oh, where
does where does Grock get it sources?
The same [ __ ] place the Wikipedia
does. [laughter]
>> I have collected
our adventure. Okay, so we start with
>> Warhammer model of the whenever Cravec
Mour
recently revealed warsmith of the Iron
Warriors. completely new guy
and very handsome.
>> Okay, man. Those are some things on his
uh shoulders there.
>> Yeah,
>> he has a tail.
>> Yeah,
>> that hammer and and and I guess what is
you know the black and yellow strips?
What would they be designated like? Are
they warning?
>> Oh, it's cuz like construction hazards.
>> Construction warning, maybe something
like that. Yeah, looks like he could um
he could do more destroying than
building, but he's got the capacity to
build. And I and I hope he's got the the
spirit for it, you know. Um all right,
next up we have Pokemon.
And this one is the 374
Pokemon uh than the Ruby entry, which
which reads, "Instead of blood, a
powerful magnetic force courses through
Beldum's body. This Pokémon communicates
with others by sending controlled pulses
of magnetism. And he looks like that.
>> I vaguely remember this one cuz that's
the one that evolves into the the Chongo
guy that looks like this. That was
helpful.
>> Well, um, [laughter]
as designs go, I'm uh I I don't I don't
think much of this one. Kind of just
>> doesn't not a strong impression one way
or the other.
>> I think this is another situation where
if you said, "Do you know what this is
from? I would never guess Pokemon.
>> Yeah.
>> Which I don't know. Says something. It
says something. Gosh darn it. Uh which
takes us to Kyoga. Uh named in mythology
as the Pokemon that expanded the sea by
covering the land with torrential rains
and towering tidal waves.
>> I am very partial to Kyogre.
>> I think he's really cool. I think he
looks very ancient and mysterious.
Yeah, he's cool. Um,
>> but I mean it could just be because
Sapphire was my first Pokemon game, so I
am biased.
>> That's crazy. Cuz I, again, I was late
to gaming, but not, I guess, to the uh
Game Boy Color cuz I played Pokemon
Blue, I think, and then Pokemon Yellow,
which uh and then Gold. Gold is my best
memories. I adored Pokemon Gold
>> and then Crystal, but I never owned
silver.
>> Then you have the um the mega evolution.
>> Boring. Boring.
>> Oh, sorry. This is the primal form,
right?
>> What the [ __ ] is that? It's a new Why?
What?
>> Yeah, that's some new [ __ ] then. For
[ __ ] sake.
>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. Yeah. Uh then
they said Google weed Pokemon and check
out the result for the lizard which
[laughter]
>> he does look like a weed lizard.
>> I mean they definitely knew what they
were doing 100%. [laughter]
>> Um I assume this is his evolution if
assume either this is an evolution or a
fan work but I saw that as well.
[laughter]
>> Uh these are these are really cool. I
like them.
>> I'm a big fan. This is This is pretty
new Pokemon, isn't it?
>> It's probably Yeah. So,
>> yeah, it's a cool new Pokemon. I like
that.
>> Unless it is made up. Maybe somebody did
it. I don't know. But I like it.
>> He looks He's He's He's fantastic.
[laughter]
>> Uh,
[clears throat]
okay. Oh, I may have missed out one
here. No, there it is. Okay, so we got
Pokemon 381. Latio will only open its
heart to a trainer with a compassionate
spirit. Uh, this Pokemon can fly faster
than a jet plane by folding its four
legs to minimize air resistance.
>> Yeah, I think I think uh these two are
quite cool as well. I'm I'm I'm quite
partial to these ones cuz it's Latio and
Latas, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, they're cool.
He's like a jet. He reminds me of the
Corneria.
>> What you like?
He reminds you of Corneria.
>> Well, I don't know how to pronounce it.
I've just seen the word.
>> Corner is the planet.
>> Corner is the planet. Yeah. Are you Are
you talking about the great fox or you
talking about the
>> whatever the ship is on that map
>> on Smash Brothers? What?
>> The big ship that you fight on or the
little ships flying above it?
>> Uh, big ship. I think
>> that's the great box. Yeah,
>> that then.
>> Did you always think the Corneria was
the name of the ship?
>> Well, yeah, but I It just doesn't come
up. So,
>> Oh, we learned something new. He didn't
He didn't know. Guys, he didn't know.
Everyone make fun of him. [laughter]
>> I mean, I haven't played a Star Fox
game. I'm sorry.
played a single one.
>> I might have played, but like I've never
like completed or bought and played one
myself, like played it over a friend's
house or something,
>> but now is the best time to do it cuz
you can play the remake with the
extremely gay voices.
>> So, [laughter] look, all right, the
voices are not great, but uh it's not a
bad remake.
>> I prefer gay voices.
>> It's not bad.
>> Okay. Oh, sorry. Yes, we also have this.
I I'm afraid I have to inflict this on
you apparently.
>> Oh, is that
>> the primal evolution?
>> Oh, for [ __ ] sake. [laughter]
>> Oh jeez.
Uh, okay. Then we have our extinct
animals, the megaserops. Measerops.
Megazerops. I don't know, but there he
is.
>> Oh, yeah. He's a funny looking fella.
Hm.
Whenever it's this sort of thing, it's
so funny because they're actually like
real. They they existed, but I'm always
just like, "So, why did you evolve that?
What does it do?" Like,
>> yeah. What is any better?
>> Like, what what does what need does
nature have for spanners? Well, I guess
it needs some.
>> What's funny is it could work as a
slingshot
[laughter]
>> if you sit on the back of it and you
like have a big elastic band. Yeah.
[laughter]
Uh, we then have the next one, the
Wleserops, the Aquaman of Trilobytes.
Yeah, he is.
He's a He's a wacky looking fella. Also,
the Mega Seros was described as the
quintessential Bront
Brontto. Brontto Bronttoair.
I have not seen that word uh before. And
then a rockarasis.
Aarocus is this guy. A little rendering
of him here from drawing, I guess. Did
Halflife leave something out is how this
was described.
This one looks very funky.
>> Yeah. Now, he's a silly looking fellow.
[laughter]
>> What a beautiful set. And then we got
some Ben 10 uh where are they requests
over here?
>> Ben 10 aliens or something. Yeah. Ben 10
alien of the day is upgrade its power to
fuse with control, modify, and upgrade
technology.
>> Oh, I
man cuz I I'm pretty sure I watched like
not a small amount of this show. Um I'm
trying to place cuz they had like
different ones for each series that
there were and I think there were like
several of them.
So I think I recognize that one. I think
he's kind of cool, I guess.
Um, and then we got another one whose
name is XLR8 and it's pun it's a pun on
its power. Super speed.
Here they are.
>> Yeah, I remember that one.
>> Well, he's kind of alien looking a
little bit.
>> Yeah, that they are aliens. No, I mean
alien. Not just aliens like in general.
The head
can say no more.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah, I could say that.
>> Uh we also have cool birds.
My god. Cool birds of the day. The
eclectus parrot. Male and female are
drastically different looking, which is
rare for parrots.
Uh
>> parrots are cool.
>> Very cool. They're only in the southern
hemisphere like naturally.
>> Can they be dragged into the northern?
>> I mean, they have been, but uh but
parrots are only from uh well well I say
southern hemisphere but like southern
and the tropics, but they're not from
the northern hemisphere. Like all
parrots are uh are from like Australia,
South America.
>> Um I'm pretty sure, let me double check.
I'm pretty sure that is the case. Oh. Oh
wait. Oh, no. Never mind. I don't even
know where I got that from then. Um, but
Oh, no. I'm totally um I got that
totally wrong. I'm a fool. Damn it. I
thought I thought it was something like
all parrots are from the Southern
Hemisphere, but that is not the case.
Yeah, never mind. Totally disregard
that. I was completely wrong.
>> Very well.
>> Oh, wait. Well, then again, wait, hold
on. It was Was it something to do with
true pirates?
Um,
oh yeah, I think uh I think true parrots
are only from southern places typically.
>> I think if we start getting into, you
know, delineating true parrots and not
true parrots, we're in dicey territory.
It's a bit
>> racist. Apparently there is a category
for true parrots. Um, and uh, and yeah,
they're widespread, but Mexico, Central,
South America, subsaharan Africa, India,
Southeast Asia, Australia. Um so that's
macor laurates uh um yeah stuff like
that budgeries budgies or but yeah bud
bud yeah yeah budgies
which is kind of interesting it means
that a lot of a lot of the kind of birds
that people have as pets I mean a lot of
them are from Australia budgies are from
Australia cockatos are from Australia
it's kind of interesting that I guess
not canaries Sorry.
>> Uh, we have Lego pieces of the day. The
first is the Star Wars planet Christmas
ornament sort of collection. There's
probably other photos to use for this
one, but you you can get Bbles, I guess,
and they're planets. Look at that. Those
>> Oh, okay. Yeah. Cool.
>> Yeah. Each one came with a mini set of
relevant spaceship inside it to quote
metal. We ball.
I'm not even sure which one I would
necessarily want the most. Probably the
death star.
>> Yeah,
>> be fun.
>> That sounds cool.
>> And then we got uh the adventurer's
blimp, which Yeah. Uh the piece was
actually used as the the box they sold
the set in. Only the only blimp they've
ever done. Criminally expensive on the
aftermarket as a result.
Everyone wants the Lego blimp. All
right. [laughter]
And then finally, the blessed pipeman
has endorsed the uh clear neon
transparent neon uh orange chainsaw in
his game award stream, which I will say
I like this piece. It's a good one.
>> Yeah,
>> you can really tell what they're going
for.
Feels like it took a lot of
craftsmanship. Anyway, thank you all so
much your kind messages and donations.
We shall see you next time. But for now,
to pip here you
see you later.
