EFAP Mini - Catchin' up on EFAP #368, #369, #370, #371 - The Self-Destruction of Strange Things
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The central focus of this discussion is the steep decline and eventual cancellation of *Stranger Things*, with hosts attributing its downfall to the perceived incompetence and lazy writing choices of the Duffer Brothers following the peak quality of Season 4. Specific criticisms highlight rushed narrative decisions, such as the poorly executed coming-out scene for Will Byers, the lack of consequences for Dustin killing his cat, and the abrupt reduction of Robin Buckley's character arc after her sexual orientation was revealed. The conversation extends beyond this single show to critique broader industry trends, including the reliance on box office numbers to determine a franchise's future, as seen with *Doctor Who* and DC properties, and the growing fatigue regarding 1980s nostalgia that has led creators to recycle old ideas without innovation.
This sentiment of declining media quality is further illustrated by harsh critiques of other major franchises and films, including the deterioration of *Game of Thrones*, which viewers are advised to stop watching after Season 4, and the recent *Superman: Legacy*, which was labeled an abomination due to excessive exposition and a static protagonist. The hosts argue that talented crew members often suffer under directors who fail to manage resources effectively, resulting in rushed production where visual effects suffer from insufficient time and money. This issue is not limited to television but also affects superhero movies, which are now viewed as no longer reliably good or watchable, with James Gunn's storytelling specifically criticized for its flaws despite his previous successes.
The discussion also delves into the financial mismanagement of prominent content creators like YouTuber Boogie, who faces debt due to spending on depreciating assets like Teslas and collector items, leading to desperate content creation tactics. Fan reactions to *Stranger Things* Season 5 are analyzed in depth, focusing on production delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood strike and the showrunners' admitted lack of planning regarding continuity errors, such as Vecna's body and the mechanics of the Upside Down. The hosts debate whether art should reflect harsh reality or sanitize trauma, joking about defeating the villain by glitching the game rather than facing his psychological issues, while also touching on behind-the-scenes documentaries and interviews where the creators admitted to making decisions on the fly.
Ultimately, the video concludes with a reflection on generational responsibility for the decline in media quality, noting that Gen X creators have dominated recent IP destruction alongside millennials, and ends with banter about various video games like *Super Mario 64* and *The Witcher 3*, as well as a showcase of collectibles ranging from Pokémon entries to Warhammer models. The hosts express frustration with the current state of franchises like *Star Wars* under Kathleen Kennedy's tenure, suggesting that only a significant course correction or buyback could save them, before signing off with observations on niche movie preferences and the definition of a "view" on YouTube, reinforcing the overarching theme that modern creators often prioritize conformity over the innovative storytelling that once defined these beloved series.

Hello everybody and welcome to EAP super

10 11 I guess is the way to put it.
Stranger Things. Oh, how strange those
things truly were by the end there.
>> Y
>> a show that
destruction.
>> Yeah. Be relegated to the
>> the annals of forgettingness history. I
I don't I think it's uh as days go by
the less and less people will think
about it because that's just how it
goes.
>> Been thinking that in the time since um
we recorded those episodes and the time
we're recording today, the Duffer
brothers have already had their next
Netflix thing cancelled.
>> That was the Burus I think, right? And
it was kind of like
>> Stranger Things with old people and it
had a single season and then they said
no. Netflix said no to a second season.
Well, they were trying to copy the D and
D run. So, I guess they're going to need
to find an original idea that they get a
season or two out of uh many years
later. [snorts]
>> I think that's the plan. So,
>> it's not going to be a good season and
they're going to have the lingering
discontent with Stranger Things bog it
down. I think they're I mean, they're
just bound for the same fate as uh as Dn
D, right? Where they made that show on
Netflix, but nobody cares.
>> Yeah.
>> Or Three Body Problem is that the one.
>> Yeah. Yeah. And nobody nobody gives a
[ __ ] though. I'm pretty sure that got
renewed for a second and third season.
So, I guess
>> but that'll be it. I imagine you know
what comes after that? Nothing.
>> Yeah. Well, all right. So, we start with
an easy one. Free. What is your
political opinion on the arrest of the
Venezuelan president and the potential
it has for the oil market?
>> I don't know how the oil market works.
I think anybody who says that they do,
who isn't an oil market person, probably
doesn't know how oil works. So, I don't
know.
>> There you go.
>> I was minally overshadowed within two
months of happening. So, it's like it's
oh my goodness, the most dramatic thing
to happen to oil is Nicholas Madura gets
arrested and two months later it's like,
oh no, there's a war now. Cool.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh, I'm not watching this crap. Many
people chose not to watch Stranger
Things and yet many people did. You
know, it's
>> Well, yeah, a lot of people definitely
did, but um you know, that was a good
decision, you not doing that.
>> Uh Nick, did Jonathan know Will was gay?
>> Yeah, I think so. Right.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, of course you did. Right.
>> Kind of implied in season 4 when they
have the um the chat in the car.
>> Yes. At the end, all you needed for Will
was the scene at the end. You can cut
everything else out about coming out
completely
or keep the the coming out scene.
>> Keep the scene but get rid of all the
conversations before it. Is that what I
said?
>> Um I prefer the conversations to the
actual scene if anything.
>> Well, the scene is um
>> the scene's horrible.
>> Kind of a meme, isn't it?
>> Um I didn't watch the latest season, but
I think I'm close to in guessing someone
got magic powers by coming out of the
closet.
>> Kind of. Yes.
>> Yep.
Uh, police chief Hopper, I thought you
were dead. I was. Oh, yes. [laughter]
He's fun, isn't he? With his plot armor.
Uh,
>> yeah.
>> Police chief who shot and killed a bunch
of government officials. Yeah, we don't
talk about that. We don't we we look, it
was the end. Okay, we're moving on. Just
uh just just just move on. Shut up.
Upcoming Stranger Things spin-off.
Somehow Vecna returned.
I don't know, man.
>> They might do that. It'll be more the
mind flickers. doing um Tales of 85. I
think that's already out. I've not seen
it yet.
>> Yes. Um not sure I ever will to be
honest.
>> Have you seen that? I don't know.
>> I don't know. No one spoke about it, but
they have the the first Shadow Play
thing, which I think they're now trying
to turn into an actual Netflix thing, so
it'll be somehow Mind Flare returned.
And I think they have one other live
action thing that they were planning on
doing.
>> Well,
uh I heard a rumor that someone is going
to be gay.
Just one person. I don't think we'd be
that limited. Try and crank those
numbers. I'm waiting for the
announcement when the Duffer brothers
chop off parts rod shaped and become
irrelevant like two similar brother I
mean sisters. I think the comparison is
D and D. Not like the Wowskis or
anything. The makes way more sense. I
think especially with like a major
cultural impactful TV show that
uh went for longer than people probably
thought it did. Honestly,
>> I remember when I found out Platoon is
gay. He said, "I'm gay." And then he
made fun of some gay people. It was
clean and efficient.
>> Well, well,
>> I think the first time I've ever
mentioned it was a She-Hog video, just
saying like I'm I'm not going to be
leaning fully into like the whole
anti-woman thing. I've just never really
seen much use in them. Um, [laughter]
I think that's when it first got
mentioned.
Uh, like the Eric Andre potato sketch
except it's Will's Will going, "Guys,
guys, guys, I'm gay. I literally don't
like women." Does Nick have the ST Lego
sets? Oh, he might do. I don't know. Be
a question for him.
The Club Intimidator was the most 80s
thing to ever 80s. Obviously, that
wasn't their intention, but it's a neat
time capsule. Yeah.
I mean, it's kind of interesting how any
film about an era, you know, and it's
advancing toward 80s, 90s, 2000s and
stuff for like nostalgia. We've got a
[ __ ] ton of recorded material of exactly
what those times were like. I know that
we technically had that still for
earlier eras, but this one, the further
you go, the more heavily documented
everything is like anything you want to
know,
>> you'll know.
I wonder if um if we've reached critical
mass on 80s and now not that ' 90s is
exactly like an untapped, you know, sort
of well, but I get the impression that
the '90s is uh is sort of where um is
where and and the 2000s will probably
start to get dabbled with more. Um but
the ' 80s feels like it's probably a
well that's run dry at this point.
>> Yeah, just look at the Masters of the
Universe. Yes, that's the long slow
death of the 80s kind of culminates in
that. I think it's we've done so much
and we're now doing He-Man which is
buming. I think people are 80s now. The
guy who did mixtape, right? He thought
that the 80s was played out. That's why
he changed it to the 90s and made it so
believable.
>> Well, I mean you got to remind people at
this point 80s nostalgia like that
doesn't really I mean that's for Gen X
basically. you know, there's there's not
even many millennials that could really
say that they can tap into '8s
nostalgia. Not really, except for
basically the oldest millennials. Um,
but then from that point onward, it's
it's going to be the '9s and then the
2000s,
you know, and it's like, yeah, it's it's
aging out essentially because at this
point, like '8s nostalgia for
millennials is like kind of almost this
weird wish fulfillment for this era that
most millennials didn't exist in or
remember.
Uh, when will you guys talk about the
CVM room?
CVM?
>> CVM room?
I don't know what that is.
>> I don't know when we'll talk about that
because I don't know what it is. Did you
know Metroid Prime one? Oh, sorry.
Metroid 1 and 2 sold more than Super.
Where's the Justice lol? Also, Stranger
Things is a bad show. Agreed. And
>> sold more than what?
>> Sold more than Super Metroid. They're
saying Metroid 1 and 2.
>> Oh. Um, yeah, that's that's possible.
Um, I that's entirely possible, I guess.
Yeah, that's a but I mean something
that's worth, you know, Metroid Metroid
on the whole is uh not a high ultra high
selling series.
>> Um, cuz I think Metroid Prime, well, for
the longest time, Metroid Prime was the
most successful one. I think it sold
like 3 million copies, which of course
when you compare it to like, oh yeah,
Mario, what's like the most successful
installment? Oh, Mario Kart 8, which
sold like 100 million copies.
It's uh yeah, or even even stuff like
Zelda, but uh Metroid Dread, I think,
ended up being the bestselling. And it
wasn't Metroid Prime 4, which is a
consolation of its own, I I guess, and
defies the trend defies the trend of the
um of the Switch essentially making
every series more successful. Um, not
Metroid as a whole, cuz Metroid Dread
was the bestselling one. So, that was
part of it. But Metroid Prime 4 not
seemingly selling that well is a uh
interesting bucking of that trend, which
I wonder if that has anything to do with
the lack of quality.
>> Nah, it's a coincidence. Stranger Things
season 1 equals Avengers. Season 2 and
three equals Age of Ultron. Season 4
equals Infinity War and Endgame for
season 5. H
>> I think Age of Ultron is better than
season two and three of Stranger Things.
I would agree.
>> Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
>> I think it's a fun fit. I I understand
what you're doing. All right.
>> I got the logic.
>> I ended 2025 watching Empire Strikes
Back. I open 2026 with Fellowship of the
Ring.
>> Good. Uh, that's a good way to spend
time. Yeah.
>> Just finished last stream. Joseph's
brain is vestigial. The fact he thinks
Terraria would be easy to make compared
to Scong.
What's song? S k o n g.
>> It was It was a big budget game, right?
>> Oh, Silkong.
>> Oh, Silkong shows why he's a failed dev.
Well, yeah. Um, I'll take no disparaging
of Terraria. So, you know, along with
many other games of its kind like Yeah,
it's it feels in the same realm as we
talked about as the whole like
complicated games deserve a seven out of
10 or whatever. Just weird. fits exactly
in that that um it's this belief that
the game being bigger budget and I
suppose fundamentally more complex in
terms of it just being like more code,
more systems, like more graphics like
earns it something. It like as if as if
it kind of means anything when no it's
like it's kind of the same as with
movies, right? like there's a there's
there sort of like innate qualities sort
of foundational qualities that can
compensate dramatically
for um for a lack of money, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> Like you know what would you rather
play? Would you rather play Suk song or
you want to play Black Ops 7? I I could
tell you which one costs more money to
make, but like who cares?
>> Uh what happened to pregnant ladies in
the UD base after Boom? Uh they were all
dead. Don't worry. They were all dead.
They were all dead. Don't worry.
>> Yeah, it's all good.
>> Doesn't Doesn't feel very convincing
when they say that.
>> Yeah, don't worry about it.
>> There is that conversation when when
Mike first hears about that 11 says,
"Oh, there's there were a bunch of
pregnant women in a hospital." And like
at no point does it enter anyone's mind.
Oh, we should go rescue them. His first
response is, "We can blow that up on the
way back." [laughter] Like, what? You
[ __ ] psychopath. That's not that's
not supposed to be your character.
Uh, after thinking more about Silkong
versus E33 since a few days ago, I
remember that I do not care about the
game awards and that TGA is asinine at
best.
>> Um, well, something that's worth
remembering is, you know, it's it's
worth thinking. It's like who who who
makes the choices on, you know, what
wins? And in the case of the Game
Awards, uh, it is heavily heavily skewed
towards the outlets that nobody [ __ ]
likes,
>> like IGN and stuff. they choose which
games win. So if they're, you know, if
their assessment doesn't mean anything
to you generally,
you know, why should it mean anything to
you necessarily what they pick as the
game of the year? That being said,
Astrobot getting game of the year that
one time was great. That was really fun
and it was really fun seeing people get
mad because it was a platformer and a
platformer shouldn't beat like an RPG or
something. I mean that's has I mean that
ties back to the Joseph Anderson um
Alana Piss point, you know, it's a
little platformer. Why would that be the
game of the year? It's like I don't know
cuz there's nothing wrong with it
basically.
>> Have you guys checked out any indie
shows on YouTube?
Not really. No.
>> Well, uh I like a fox in space. That's
cool. That's a really cool project.
I'll be the Chief, I suppose, would
count as a would would definitely count
as a as an indie indie show. And how
long they don't even register these
things as like indie shows as opposed to
>> No, I I just think of it as stuff that
people make on YouTube. That's cool.
[laughter]
>> Uh would have been cool if it was called
Stranger Things 5 things got 11
11 even stranger, but you put the in
brackets 11 even 11 even. Yeah. here. I
guess we can't always expect peak.
Unless you Dumbos play DDLC. Oh my.
I've been reliably informed that Bazinga
is the answer to life, the universe, and
everything. If you disagree, then maybe
you haven't discovered empathy.
H I'm not old enough to get empathy yet.
Be there, though.
>> No.
>> What about bazinga?
>> Are you do you have that in your heart?
>> No.
>> What is bazinga? That's what That's what
uh Sheldon says in uh in Big Bang
Theory. That's like his catchphrase.
>> Oh,
>> yeah.
>> Yeah. I don't think I have whatever that
is.
>> Have you Have you ever watched an
episode of Big Bang Theory? Actually,
Platoon,
>> maybe, but not deliberately. I think it
may have come on TV one time.
>> That's a fun because I I've not watched
an insubstantial amount of that show. I
think I've watched several seasons of
it. The Big Bang Theory because I have a
very complicated relationship with that
show and that I wholeheartedly agree
with the criticisms of it, but it does
make me laugh sometimes.
>> And you know what? It took a lot to
admit that. So, it's good it's good that
you said it.
>> Yeah. I mean, I I it it does it it's uh
there there are some jokes that are
funny. Like there are uh even even
though I agree that a lot of the the
show is just referencing something that
is vaguely nerdy and then just laughing
at the fact that it got referenced at
all. Hey, he mentioned Thundercat. H
Yep, he sure did.
>> Mhm.
Nick, please play the $300 dono sound
for EAP law. I've heard that. It's like
a spam of all of the most iconic LCO
rants alto together.
Amazing.
Happy New Year's, lads. This season was
an absolute chore, but at least the
nightmare is over. Do you have a
recommended cut off point for The
Simpsons?
>> Uh, you should stop when it stops being
funny enough to warrant the time, which
uh which that could you could draw that
line anywhere, but it will almost
certainly be beyond the scope of the
golden age.
>> It will be beyond that point. thinking
about that ratio of time spent versus
quality once you'll post like season
season 8 and then you'll start thinking
about it.
>> It's like when I I wanted to actually
watch American Dad properly and then I
stopped about like season 4 cuz I was
just like eh, you know, I'm not getting
that much out of it anymore.
>> Lumbo rags, did you ever get any trouble
for Quantum TV get the chance to join
ActMan on that front?
I'm afraid he's not here to answer this
question.
Luke's dad had a based conversation in
season 3. Dude, I don't even remember
like that Lucas's parents exist them
sometime. Like I feel like they just got
barely any screen time.
>> They may even have only had that one
scene. I think they showed up in like
the Satanic Panic School meeting, but
that scene is where is that? I think
Lucas is asking what to do if you've
pissed off like a woman in your life and
his dad basically says women are always
right. So, yeah, great scene.
>> By the way, what Dustin does with his
cat is what Dr. Owens does with Eleven
and the portal, but the show doesn't
seem to recognize that with NY's
plotline.
What Doctor does with Eleven and the
portal is the same as Dustin. So, the
cow gets eaten.
>> Yeah.
>> And Dustin hides it.
>> 11 in the port. I mean, he covers it up
in se at the end of season two. Is that
what we're talking about?
>> I'm I'm not sure how that plays into
when they say NY's plotline then.
>> I do hate Austin for that, by the way.
That like
>> cuz when I watched season 4 and I liked
him, I didn't know he did that. But once
I once that it's like, oh, that like
lingers over you forever, dude. That's
like really terrible.
>> And it really annoys me that the show is
like, yeah, but he got like a
replacement cat. It's like, oh, that Oh,
okay. What if it was a dog? Would you
present it the same way that you just
get a replacement dog and like nobody
gives a [ __ ] Yeah. No, you wouldn't.
Like, it's just I don't like it at all.
>> Uh, so Rags, Joseph Anderson told us
that Stardw Valley is a loweffort game
because it lacks boss fights. Please
roast him hard for this idiotic take.
Yeah, that because Rags is a big fan of
Stardw Valley. How many [ __ ] said
that? Boss fights. This is pretty funny
because like when
>> it's interesting the difference between
him scripted and him not because he's
pretty
>> he he he will really surprise you
whether scripted or um or you know live
when he's live he's he's much more
animated but animated in a in a very
clunky way. That was a distinct
impression of uh that little rant he was
doing about silk song and everything was
like there's a bit of a there's a bit of
tism energy here.
>> I'm a fan of
>> uh a sort of out there take like you
just for example some good news happens
then someone goes let me tell you why
this is actually awful and you're like
oh okay but this was a weird one of silk
song really competitive price and he's
like this is bad for the whole industry
like oh
>> and then rainforest You know,
>> I guess I guess he must be thrilled with
Grand Theft Auto 6 raising the uh the
price.
>> A high tide raises all ships or
whatever. [laughter]
>> Hi,
Laura of the YouTube channel Southern
Fried Cinema Siblings. Molly, you might
you just might hate Black Widow as much
as I. Your review utterly magnificent.
Our Lady Spies episode, Black Widow
versus Black Sunday, soon uh up right
now. Avatar, why it had no cultural
impact. I see.
Yeah. I mean, between us, we seem to,
you know, Platoon managed to sort of
destroy a deep fry, I guess, because
Southern Fried is on my mind now that
you've said that. Uh Avatar, you're
quite the fan of that show series. Bet
you can't wait for fourth one.
>> I can't wait to hear that. That one is
never coming out. And that's true. H.
Uh, it'll be interesting to do a roundup
of characters hated by the writers that
were actually the heroes. Steve, John
Walker, Colonel Tai, Quaric, Commander
Edington, Captain Jelico, etc.
Who's Colonel Tai?
>> He's in Battlestar Galactica, I think.
Unless there's another Colonel Tai.
>> There may be several, but yeah. Yeah.
Fair. This finale is mediocre, but I
still find it to be as good to be good
that the show ends the way it always was
meant to as when they were only given
the one season. The kids playing D and D
and L's situation is unknown. I don't I
don't really
>> No, that that's that is incorrect. It
doesn't end playing D and D anyway. It
ends with a different family's kids
playing D and D.
>> I rags your impression of Grace is
something I didn't know I needed. Please
do the chicainery monologue in her voice
if you're familiar. If not, dealer's
choice of similar greatness and length.
Cheers. I'm afraid he is not familiar.
He he he hasn't seen better Call Soul,
but I'm sure he would enjoy that scene
as everyone does. Has anyone played Far
Cry 3: Blood Dragon? Yes.
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Brilliant.
>> Better 80s themed movie experience. IMO
Cheesy Lion Synth Wave, CRT, Film Grain,
'8s nostalgia. I I was always surprised
it didn't I don't know. referenced more.
>> I'm surprised there wasn't like a Blood
Dragon game outright. Um I think
>> that would be the consequence. This is
what I'm saying. It's like I'm surprised
it didn't make more of an impact with
people. It just seemed to come and sort
of go and it was like wow.
>> I suppose what's interesting is I think
that there was understated ways made an
impact. I think that Blood Dragon was
probably really helpful for synth wave.
>> Um
>> garnering like some popularity as a as
as a genre. I mean, that was almost
certainly my first introduction to the
genre, and I I really like synth wave. I
listen to it a lot. It's a It's a cool
genre.
>> That soundtrack is filled with
references, too, like to other movie
soundtracks. So cool.
>> Lots of Terminator references like,
"Sorry, I'll stop.
>> Sorry, get me going. I'll be dancing for
hours."
>> The show you're thinking of is The
Truman Show. I hope that helps. Has
Nicholas seen the Truman Show? I don't
know.
Uh, can we rename the Duffer Brothers to
The Dumber Brothers? Ho ho.
>> Got him.
>> That'll get him.
>> Um, oh, criticism of the day. You guys
talk too much about how much money a
film makes. As critics, stuff like that
shouldn't really come up and instead
focus exclusively on quality. God,
there's so much wrong with what you just
said. [laughter]
>> Yeah, I don't even I'm not sure where to
begin with that. Um, number one, as long
as we're not relying on the box office
or lack thereof to make qualitative
assessments, there's no problem
fundamentally at that point. Uh, number
two, it it matters. I mean, it
determines what gets made. I don't know
why people talk about it as if like both
critics and
>> Hello.
>> Not a film.
>> What?
>> You dropped out there.
>> Oh, what? Oh, all right. You're on
number two, I think.
>> All right. Number two is of course of
course it makes sense that critics and
audiences would care about whether or
not a film is makes money or doesn't
make money for just a multitude of
reasons. I'm not even sure which one to
start with. Number one, if it's
something that you care about, you
probably want it to be successful so
that there will be more of it and that
the people who made it are rewarded for
their efforts. But number two, it's
totally acceptable to be like, "Dude,
that movie sucks, and I hope it loses
money, and I hope that doesn't get a
sequel, and I hope that the people who
made it are not in a position where they
can get even more money to make
something that's bad or, you know, delve
into some sort of intellectual property
that I enjoy and ruin that, too. Um, of
course, it's relevant.
>> I just didn't realize the limit on
critics talking about." And it's like I
don't even like the word critics
honestly as opposed to just like
>> No, I mean yeah
>> with guys talking about the news related
to media and also media like the meta of
media as well. It's like how would this
not come up? Um, especially like now of
all times where box office numbers are
determining the the future of one
something take something like Star Wars
uh where it's like a cataclysm right now
of of this enormous IP, this colossus
that's [ __ ] falling over. Uh, I know
it's not quite box office, but you
understand what I mean. Doctor Who, it's
it's been [ __ ] shuttered. It's going
dormant because of its inability to
generate any revenue or eyes. And then
uh you know a more interesting sort of
combat that's happening is the James Gun
fight for DC which box office decides
all of that stuff does. It's all the
future of stories.
>> I don't know why that wouldn't come up.
>> You know if if movie making is art meets
commerce it would be really weird to
ignore the commerce part of [laughter]
that equation. It's it's pretty
relevant.
>> I don't see what the problem is. As long
as we don'tate end up arguing something
like, "Hey, the box office was low. That
must mean it's an awful film."
>> Yeah. Which I mean,
>> which we don't do.
>> Is that something that we ever have ever
said ever in the history of anything?
>> It's more likely to be it's either Shard
and Freder because something that is
[ __ ] is getting no money, which is then
a springboard for a conversation about
why that is the case, or it's misery and
depression, which is Toy Story 5 earning
a billion dollars anymore. Um, you know,
that's all relevant material. Um, if we
hadn't spoken at all about box office,
then like what are we supposed to allow
it to go unanswered, for example, when a
whole like section of the internet
briefly decides that Predator Badlands
uh puts the franchise in the healthiest
place it's ever been in. It's one of the
best Predators movies ever and the
audiences are rewarding it with a huge
amount of money. Something that is
flatly untrue. Um, but which took up a
huge amount of the discourse around that
film. Like obviously we address that
because it's a lie and lying is bad.
>> You tell it. Yeah. like is the claim
that we should have said nothing when
when people said that we should say ah
that's not in our purview. Let's not
talk about that cuz that would be really
silly.
>> Uh love to listen to Stranger Things OST
when studying. Works wonders. By the
way, Steve dodged a bullet with Nancy.
Hello rags. True and true. Yeah, it's a
cool original soundtrack, especially
season one.
>> Yep.
>> Nancy is the equivalent of the DMPC who
no one likes but the dungeon master. And
she's super cool and important. We
swear.
>> She's so [ __ ] horrible.
>> Yeah, she's so horrible.
>> Been difficult to in any way support for
a long time, not [clears throat] just
like later seasons.
Have any of you played Far Lone Sales?
It's a cool little indie game. I
recommend it. Very intuitive and
gorgeous. Hi, Rags.
No,
>> I ain't never heard of Far Loan Sales.
After hearing hearing laser, I thought
of Austin P's freaking sharks with
freaking laser beams attached to their
heads and realized that was more
grounded than what you were describing.
[laughter]
Yeah, many such cases. Season 5 informed
me of something I was beginning to
believe after Mando season 3. The worst
thing a bad show can do is end. That may
sound odd, but hear me out. If a bad
show never ends, then the fans of it can
cope all they want about the quality.
the next thing will explain it all and
retroactively make it good. This mindset
cannot be maintained if there's no next
thing. Therefore, if a bad show never
ends, the fans never have to come to
terms with it. So, when it does end,
their eye flies toward the creators,
begging for an explanation of the
nonsense or they opt for a mysterious
next episode that will fix everything
still.
>> Mhm. Episode 9. It is coming. Um, but
no, yeah, that's that's how it's worked
with loads of different shows. Even ones
that collapse over a very long time, as
long as there's more coming, it does
feel like it's like it's not the end of
the road. It can still work. It can
still work. Like I said, the crazy thing
with The Boys was I started seeing um uh
in my recommended like, okay, we got two
episodes left to wrap up these 17 plot
threads. So, I'm a little worried right
now. It's like, oh, you should already
have concluded it's it's doomed. But the
fact that you're like, "It could still
wick. It could still wick. It's still
good. It's still good."
[laughter]
>> And then it comes out
>> slimy
>> and you're like, "Oh, well, that was
[ __ ] Damn."
The dialogue in Dispatch was so poor.
Molly and Moodle stream legit sent me to
hospital. Should be out soon. I watched
for Nuts. We love you, Nuts. Well, yeah.
I didn't like the dialogue in Dispatch,
but you know, a lot of people apparently
did, and that's wonderful.
You you guys know anything about
Dispatch? Lady Dispatch?
>> No.
>> I've heard of it, but I've never played
it.
>> I have no idea what that is.
>> Uh, it took me a [ __ ] hour to realize
that Nick responding to chat saying,
"This is pre-recorded was an obvious
joke."
Yeah, I always find those kind of funny.
Uh, like whenever someone says that on a
live stream because it it should be so
categorically obvious it's live. like
there's no way you could possibly
question, especially with chat coming up
on screen, but it does work. A lot of
people, and that's probably due to, and
this isn't a criticism, a lot of people
just sort of casually passively
watching, so they're like, "Oh [ __ ] am
I on is this pre-recorded? I didn't
realize." And then uh like, "No, yeah,
it's all good. Rags and drinkers should
play Portal 2 co-op together." That
would be funny.
I think they both want to do Resident
Evil 5 before that, though, honestly.
Uh, does Jonathan know this isn't
pre-recorded?
I don't think Jonathan was aware. I
don't think he'd like us talking about a
show like this, you know.
Vecna smokes Lucky Strikes.
Yeah, probably.
I demand Nick shows the Sonic video. Oh,
I'm aware of that. Um, I can't remember
if he we I think we talked about it, but
maybe we'll save it some other time. I
don't know.
Uh, don't spend this on crack cocaine.
Put it towards some decent regular
cocaine like normal people do. No. Yeah,
we get high quality coke on ehab for
sure.
>> Yeah. Don't let these guys get like the
bottom of the rung stuff.
>> Want a show that takes forever to come
out and actually gets better writing
with each episode? Watch the amazing
digital circus. Also, high rags. Come
yum.
Good old Amazing Digital Circus. They've
wrapped now right on season one I think.
>> I think so.
>> With a movie. Have anyone seen broadly
what the reception of the movie is? I
don't know.
>> No, the only thing I saw was that people
were upset that it was going to be a
movie that they would have to pay and
see, but you know, it's um as fans doing
van [ __ ] I don't know how people
regarded it.
>> Yeah, fair. I mean, you know, I think we
talked about that at one point, but I
would have thought that would be
somewhat good news as in your thing is
getting so popular it can release in a
theater. It's like, hey, neat.
Um, but then again, your thing going
mainstream is never a good thing. In
fact, man, has there ever been a good
show with a smoke monster?
>> H
>> cuz I know they're referencing Lost with
that being another show that collapsed.
>> Smoke monsters in good shows. There's
probably one got to be out there
somewhere. Someone in chat will know.
Notice the voice actors for Bouldersgate
3 doing D and D sessions and stuff
online. Would have been cool to see the
actors do that here as well. Playing D
and D. I I don't think you were ever
going to get that. The actors, I'm
afraid. Maybe
>> they don't know anything about it. Even
the Darth said that they actually don't
know anything about DND. They played
Magic the Gathering, but they just
picked Dn D because it was kind of
known.
>> Of course, you know.
>> Yep.
>> Uh, a pre-recorded EVAP. Obviously, you
were scared of getting smugst also. Hi,
Rags. Hello. Indeed.
Stranger Things is the best example of
um actually storytelling where
everything is post talk hawk and pulled
out of the ass pretty much. Yeah, I'm
going to disagree with that. They're
iconic for their sudden revelations and
explanations that make no [ __ ] sense
at all. They love it.
Stranger Things. Oh, wait. Uh IMO after
changing Robin into a lesbian, they
didn't give a [ __ ] about her anymore.
And of course, they couldn't allow her
to be a threat to the straight
characters.
A threat.
>> That was kind of the end. I don't I
don't know where the threat thing comes
from. But that coming out scene which
was way better done than Will Swan
though it did trample on it. Um that is
kind of the end of her as a person. She
stops being a thing after that. She just
becomes like a personality.
>> I know. I even saw people who are big
fans of her character said she was
ruined post season 3. Mhm.
>> She's a goofball.
I think they wanted to like push that
she was really autistic as well, right?
which surprising amount of characters in
all kinds of content these days end up
with like hit with the autism stick.
Um I don't know if it's just an excuse
or if it's intentional as in like
>> oh right like to like they they [ __ ]
up with the character and so to
compensate they're like no no they're
autistic.
>> Yeah. They're representation like okay
>> I don't I do not believe that the dos
would have made her autistic without
telling the audience explicitly that
that's what they've done to get applause
for that. So, the fact that they didn't
do that, I think that's just people
looking at a badly written character and
saying it must be autism, which is mean
to autists.
>> Yes.
>> Well, yeah. What does that say about
what [laughter] what does that say about
what you guys think of autistic people?
>> Annoyingly, how often characters explain
unknown phenomena with wild metaphor
using random nearby objects and then
proceed as if it's absolute fact. Yes,
it's it's what they got known for
eventually.
Steve is the Dawn's nephew.
>> Yes, to an extent. I think that's that's
viable. Even though
>> I guess the Dawn is he'd
>> be the Dawn that was the ' 90s, so
>> it's not Yeah, they're not too far away.
Uh
>> well, yeah, cuz he was that guy was like
30, so they could be brothers. They
could be brothers, actually. Yeah.
>> Hello, massives. Long time since I
caught a live stream. You guys were
complaining about the lack of dinosaur
movies this year. I just saw a stupid
fun one called Primitive Wars. Vietnam
with killer dinosaurs.
I've heard about that one. I think
Drinker recommended it as a bit of fun.
So, there you go. Is MorbiiUs better
than this show?
>> Well, I mean, I haven't seen MorbiiUs.
Neither have I.
>> Um, [laughter]
>> yeah. Like, it's a very funny aspect of
MorbiiUs is just nobody's watched it.
>> Like, nobody's watched it [laughter]
even though
>> and I just don't remember anything about
it. But it's it's shorter than Stranger
Things, so it might be better.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, true.
>> Um, this is pre-recorded. Why must you
turn this into a stream of lies?
>> I would never. What form of time travel
has EAB adopted? Mes to incorporate chat
into the pre-recording. Not reprising
arrival, I hope. Terminator time travel
is what we did. Yep. Makes complete
sense.
between Sparta, madness, and music. What
is this?
This is probably madness I'd go with out
of those options. Yeah.
Hello, lads. [clears throat] Just want
to say thanks for the great analysis.
Over the years, I've learned a lot about
writing, watching you guys, and I am now
running a Kickstarter campaign for my
book, The Dragon Slayers. Wish me luck.
This is the year we fix media. Oh,
>> good luck.
>> Yeah, [laughter]
I hope that goes well. There may be a
bit of work to do on the front of fixing
media, but you know what? I like a
challenge.
On second thoughts, Gary Rag should play
Portal with Gary. It would be the
funniest thing once Gary figures out all
the buttons or if he figures it out. I
just hope he played Mixtape ultimately.
That's the the main thing I want to see.
Brought to you by Punto Al's time
editing software. I remember Punto.
I'm expecting to go to bed before you
start season five. Uh did we start
season five in the first stream? I think
we did actually, right?
>> I think we got through like one episode.
>> The only problem was uh we didn't just
need to do season five. We also needed
to do the um the documentary, the iconic
documentary.
>> Maxine was written on a L break without
them.
>> I can believe that. Dead enough to open
a portal you can duct tape over.
Hey man, you can duct tape over a lot of
stuff is really good [ __ ] Especially if
you've got Flex Seal. That stuff is
really good from what I understand.
>> Oh, since Gary isn't here anymore,
Pineapple does not belong on pizza.
>> You're not going to catch me
disagreeing.
>> Yep.
>> Elfen lied is the anime version of this
show done years ago. All right, fair
enough. Downgrading from Lovecrafty and
existential horror to edgy emo super
villain was a poor choice.
um for their capacity as writers,
uh Vecna offered them something that
they could, I think, do more with, but
broadly, yeah, it was a bit
disappointing to go from, you know, the
upside down was this horrifying other
world that we can't understand at all to
where it's an angry guy who's getting
revenge. You're like, okay.
You know, like I said, it just allowed
them to focus a bit in season 4 where
some good things happened, but oh well.
That reminds me, since the Cold War is
happening, if the US government found a
Russian lab using a super mole as a
front on American soil, that would have
turned the Cold War very hot. Yeah,
probably.
It would have been some geopolitical
ramifications. Yes. But um then again,
you the Russians having like alive
versions of smoke monsters and, you
know, captured also should have maybe
had some implications, but we just
forget that.
Uh, that reminds me. Uh, oh, wait. What
do you think of the queer bay thing with
Mike and Will and the downright
homophobic writing of Will? I know. So
much of Mike season 3 and four could
have been explained with internalized
homophobia, but he just turned into a
nothing burger instead.
>> Um,
>> they wanted applause.
>> Yeah,
>> that is the only reason that exists. And
so like they could have just kept it
going. they semi-agnowledged, half
acknowledged. There were versions of the
coming out scene that could have been
made to work if it was actually personal
and it wasn't, you know, half the
population of the United States in the
room. Um, but I don't think you needed
to to go all the way, you know, towards
enlarging it. But their motive for doing
that was just to say, look how amazing
we are. And um, they, you know, they put
everybody through the ringer for that.
They got loads of advice apparently from
the actor who, let's just say, is not a
writer. So, um, you know, maybe maybe
don't take advice from him. Um, you
know, it was just a lazy, cynical, you
know, awards attempt, I think, which,
well, I hope they're happy with that
glad award they got.
>> And, you know, it's always been weird,
too, cuz like the fan a lot of the fan
base really wanted them to get together,
right? But the writers never intended
that at all.
>> So,
>> obviously not.
>> No, it was always just going to piss
them off.
Um,
my girlfriend pointed out today that I
totally missed is that these kids
shouldn't be graduating high school.
Starting in 83 when they're 11ish and
ending 87 means they'd be sophomores at
best.
Yeah, but that doesn't give you as clean
an ending where they're graduating, does
it? Can't do that.
[ __ ] it up. God. Watching Stranger
Things for monsters, but the real
monsters are the EAB hosts.
>> Well, yeah.
>> True. We work hard to maintain that.
Hello, Mingus, Ringus, Fringus, Little
Plingus, and the all groovy guests.
Today is my 24th birthday. This show has
been a highlight of my week for years
now, and I hope the tisms continue ever
more. Don bless you all, my good folk.
Damn, that means you were probably
watching us when you were 17 then,
right? At least if time works the way
that I think it does. Happy birthday,
24th.
Thanks for recommending Life of Chuck
yesterday, Frankie. That was an
enjoyable 2-hour break from this. I
mean,
>> good movie, man. Really good movie.
>> That was my my goat of 2025. That was a
That was a really nice movie. [laughter]
The one time I might use that word just
because it feels more appropriate than
ever. How nice, how friendly, how
wholesome, how life affirming, despite
the darkness within to an extent.
Mrs. Wheeler got nine wine bottle jabs
in on the demo while it just stood there
awkwardly. Yeah, it's a terrible payoff.
This is dumb as [ __ ] A shilling for the
Stranger Things disappointment counter
constantly ticking over season after
season,
which is I mean it's just there's a bit
of nuance in the it's crazy that season
4 had enough in it that it made everyone
think that season 5 was going to be
amazing as opposed to if you look at
Game of Thrones season 7, a lot of
people consider that the worst season
beyond eight. you know, like like Game
of Thrones just descends u with some
highlights or whatever, but a lot of
people think four is the best season
since one of Stranger Things, which is
Yeah,
>> there's an argument for that as well. I
mean, and it's so unusual cuz as you
say, most things do the more Game of
Thrones thing of steady and then
increasing decline and there isn't a
break from that. It's very unusual that
you get decline, rapid decline, fairly
significant jump in quality and then
rapid decline again. It's it's a weird
pattern. It kind of makes you wonder how
much of season 4 the Duffers really
wrote.
>> You have to wonder because they're just
so plainly incompetent and kind of
stupid. [laughter]
>> Um, Fring's defense of shitty awful
directors is my only joy in life. Never
change, Franco. Also, Hi, Rags.
my my defense of of terrible directors.
>> Maybe this did we mention for some
reason I'm having like a memory of
Shyamalan and maybe we had some pieces
of
>> Oh, it might be that I'll I'll go to bat
for some bad directors. Um because
there's some aspect of them that's like
redeeming in their film making.
>> Yeah. Like
>> Oh yeah, it's probably because I I I got
really critical of the Duffer brothers.
>> [laughter]
>> Consider the Duffer brothers and people
like Shawn Levy or Payton Reed versus
>> uh Michael Bay.
>> Even Michael Bay. Yeah, even Michael Bay
where it's like, well, the guy the guy
can occasionally make something that's
worthwhile. Like it's not, you know, to
be fair, we're talking about 20 years
ago with this, but you know, now I'm not
very familiar with what he's doing now.
Maybe he is even worse than, you know,
he was like even 10 years ago. Um, but
yeah, I mean there are a lot of these
sort of quintessential go-to bad
directors who there's more to be said
for them than like the Duffer brothers.
When you watch that documentary, you
were just watching like a set of
creators that are just barereft of like
essentially bar of of like insight. Um,
it's it's honestly fascinating. And um I
suppose what's unfortunate Yeah. is that
we used to have characterful bad
directors. Now, like the bad directors
that we get um are just kind of idiots
and uh and they get a lot of money. Um
and they managed to get away with it for
a little while as well through whatever
means.
>> So much has been figured out.
>> Like a lot of it isn't even their
decisions. It's just like the system
doing its thing. So it all looks the
same when when you have directors who
don't want to make changes. You have a
whole bunch of these very talented
people that just become involved in
these projects like the, you know, the
production designers, like the assistant
directors, these sorts of people that
just that just get things done and and
get the wheels turning where you got
these two simpletons who are the ones
that ultimately manage to get all of the
acclaim and then in turn when it all
goes to [ __ ] they get all of the all of
the blowback. Um, which you know, they
deserve the blowback, right? Like even
in season five, all of the all of the
other people are doing their job and
even even though there's criticisms of
the visual effects, we we all know
what's up, right? The reason why that
happens is because way too much work to
be done, not enough time or money to do
it. So, it's not like their fault. Um,
you know, but but the people that are at
the top, right, the guys making the big
bucks, um, the guys that get all of the
acclaim for being the amazing or reveal
themselves to be a different kind of or
or or
a different different kind of thing, you
know, not very good, very bad at their
jobs. And uh, and yeah, and and now now
everybody's like, "Oh, wait, those
Duffer brothers, they're kind of hacks,
right?" It's like, "Yeah, they sure are.
And they're not fun hacks like
Shyamalan,
you know.
>> Yeah, [laughter]
>> he's very fun.
>> They're the loser hacks of the of the
21st century, you know, of well, but
beyond the, you know, the the the the
era of the 2010s onward, you know, like
you it's the sort of JJ Abrams kind of
hack, which is less fun and more
depressing.
Um.
Oh, sorry. I got a bit lost there. Jam.
Jam. Man of Fortune. Yes.
>> This better be a long episode. You made
me sit through four seasons to catch up.
It sucked. And I want my time back.
Well, we got four episodes of EAB out of
it, I think. So, there you go.
Uh, what if I don't like Kate Bush? Does
that mean I'll die? Well, you got to
find your own music to get you out of
there. Okay.
>> At least until that isn't how it works
anymore,
>> right? That was our criticism and then
they eventually had the realization
which kind of just undo a lot of what
[ __ ] they put in place already. It's all
very confusing.
Uh Kate Bush did 911. I didn't know
that. That's crazy.
>> Uh platoon would cheat on Ted for Billy
confirmed.
Um, listen, Ted is Ted is the like the
pinnacle of man, so it would be a really
tough decision, but I think I could be
persuaded maybe to cheat on him with
Billy. Maybe.
>> I wouldn't blame you for that. I don't
think Ted would blame you for that. I
think he'd be like,
>> "No, Ted might join in." [laughter]
>> Ah, that's why Metal isn't here. It's
pre-recorded. Plot holes sealed. World
makes sense. Time for Chinese and
dinosaurs. I rags. Yeah. All right.
Fair.
One Division handled it slightly better.
Well, that's not a good position to be
in, is it?
What was Vecna's master plan for Bob and
Bob again? So Bob was just Was Bob an
accident?
>> No, well,
so Bob dies because at the time the
rules are different. Um, that's the only
explanation. There is they they tries to
pretend that yeah he was behind
everything from the beginning but there
is no way you can square that with the
fact that that Barb in particular dies.
She dies cuz she cuts her finger and
that that time the demogorgan is just
like a shark monster and it it follows
blood and it kills people.
>> It's not until later they decide that
it's actually part of a mind controlled
they just intelligence that actually
obeys people's orders and does
everything for a reason. But once you
introduce that, you kind of [ __ ] with
Bob.
>> The plates weren't even bolted down.
They were just thrown over the top of
tears in reality.
>> Yeah, it's [ __ ] stupid.
>> I still remember seeing that for the
first time. The the end of season 4, you
know, it has that that long sort of
they're standing on the field and the
camera pans around and you see Hawkins,
which is looking like hell is erupting
onto Earth and everyone thinks, "Oh
[ __ ] season 5 is going to be amazing."
And then the first scene of season 5. So
now we just covered it up. Put some
plates down. So all those those hell
rifts you could just paper over the
cracks apparently. Oh, it's so lame.
>> Platoon fringy. You should play S.
Platoon and Fringy. What's S rags? Sod's
nuts for real. Platoon needs to play S.
This person very much wants you to play
that.
>> It will happen.
>> Lockables greater than Stranger Things.
Agreed.
Uh, these people do not represent all of
Gen Z.
>> Sure. I guess no individual represents
the whole generation.
>> What the who?
>> The Stranger Things people, I guess. I
don't know.
>> They barely represent people, so don't
worry about it. [laughter]
>> Yeah, but all those characters, they're
not they are they are Gen X
>> the uh at least in the in the timeline
show. And
>> you could take it from the EO. You could
take it from Gen Z writers doing
>> but they're not but the Duffer brothers.
They're Gen X too, aren't they?
>> That's true.
>> Yep. And so was everybody else in the
writer room.
>> But then I guess the other angle is
Duffer brothers trying to appeal to Gen
Z or something like that.
>> Oh, no, no, no. The Duffer brothers are
millennials. Uh, never mind.
>> Oh, right. No. Yeah, cuz Gen X What was
the
>> Gen X Gen X is 19 1980 to 1996 is
millennials. So,
>> why am who am I thinking of that we were
like cuz a bunch of people said it was a
millennial project and it was like
unfortunately it's a Gen X one. What was
that?
>> I I remember that I mentioned it with
Darevil because the reminder that has
>> the last the last 10 to 15 years or
certainly the last 10 of the destruction
of IPs that's been Gen X not not and and
some boomers not millennials.
Millennials aren't weren't old enough
yet to be in charge. um they're still
kind of not like it's it's it's kind of
this funny thing that Gen X has
essentially gotten away with. They
they've benefited from their reputation
as a sort of inconsequential generation,
but it's like no no no there's no
there's no escape for you. All
generations have have their share of the
blame for uh for the world that we live
in today. And Gen X is a big part at
least Gen X creators are a big part of
the destru you know JJ Abrams is Gen X.
A lot of the guys who've done a lot of
these Marvel projects are Gen X. They're
not millennials. Most of them are in
their 50s. Um, a variety of these
projects. It's Gen X's that
>> then you get into like, you know, the
Kennedys and Bob Iggers when it's like,
aren't they truly responsible for a lot
of this?
>> Well, that's boomers then, you know, at
that point. Then we're talking about
boomers and it's like, yeah, see, look,
all right, millennials have their fair
share of cringe contributions, but a lot
of Neil Duckman, he's Gen X. He's not a
millennial.
>> But what I keep trying to push is that
every generation is [ __ ] [laughter]
>> No, that's why I'm just saying that if
we're going to play the game of
generational blame. Um, let's be real.
Millennials aren't old enough to be
majorly responsible for a lot of the the
things that are that the way that the
world looks like now. Uh, certainly when
we're talking about art. But, you know,
the influences there for sure. We're all
We're all a bit cringe.
>> Yay. The Great Unifier.
Yeah.
>> Not to get too existential, but Duma's
big meltdown being two years ago means
he's been playing video games for 32
years. Coming up on coming up on 33.
Damn. Yeah.
>> I guess we have to update that meme. Uh,
>> see, that's a millennial take.
>> 32 years. That's firmly millennial,
>> right?
>> Uh, is this better or worse than James
Gun Superman? Oo,
>> that's tricky. Oh, Stranger Things
season 5. Yeah, honestly that's a tough
one. I uh it's worth reminding people
like Superman is at best it's a two and
you can make the case for it being a
one.
>> It's an abomination.
>> A pocket a pocket universe.
[laughter] Like
>> I know we mentioned this on our
Supergirl stream, but uh the [ __ ]
rewatch of Superman, I couldn't believe
the exposition cuz basically I was
re-watching it with the sole intention
of grabbing all of the world building in
my head cuz I, you know, I I remember
it, but I also like need a refresh on
some of it. And so I'm looking out for
like information to keep me sort of
settled on that sort of stuff. And man,
just the amount of lines that like
>> it's almost like no Superman's every
move he does. He's been studying him for
years. He's created over 10,000 fight
combinations for this battle.
>> Well, uh, when he when he crashes and
that guy is like, "Oh my god, Superman,
remember me? I'm your friend. I gave you
food once. I'm your friend, Superman."
It's like, "What the
>> engineer? I've sacrificed my own
humanity to get help get rid of it."
>> Like, man, it's kind of weird that the
engineer does that flip and then reverse
when she could have just turned around
to fight those Superman robots. And I
mean, I just love that it's a movie
where Superman doesn't change. He does
not change. He is a static character
when the film believes that he goes on
an arc.
Hey man, everything I thought was a lie.
It's not going to stop me from just
literally being the exact same person
though and still doing good things only
to later realize that that's what I the
decision I need to make is if I haven't
always been making it throughout the
whole movie.
>> And let's be clear, it makes no [ __ ]
sense. He thought it was a lie. as in
like he he makes no sense he drew
everything about his meaning in life
>> from the video clip
>> then the parents who actually raised him
for 30 30 years
>> not to reopen it all but like oh my god
the other Superman movies understood the
dichotomy so much better than this one
did
>> yep and and then and then yeah pocket
universe that's crazy as well as the
fact that the film says the solution to
foreign conflicts is for an American
private military company to unilaterally
intervene in those conflicts and
assassinate the leaders of uh of
countries. That is the that is the
film's purported solution to like
conflict in the modern day.
>> Well, I think as with something like a
Predator Badlands or um even
Thunderbolts and stuff like that, it's
like it's just going to become more and
more insane to remember just how
insanely [ __ ] hyped the movie was. It
reminds me of First Light actually where
conventional criticism just gets
battered away with the most bizarre
[ __ ] arguments because it's decided
that this is protected like this
particular project.
>> Yeah. Like it was really it was really
as as much as and of course what
complicated it is that people felt that
it was a fight against you know the
criticism was from the Snider Bros who
themselves are like [ __ ] [ __ ] as
well in terms of you know the movies
they like and the arguments that they
make in favor of those movies and
against the other ones. But like, no
man, it's it's really simple. James Gun
is just not a very good storyteller.
He's kind of terrible at it. Um,
whatever he hasn't either, but it's why
it's you'll occasionally come across a
tweet which will like it'll begin with
something fairly sane and sensible like
James Gunn is a useless [ __ ] hack.
And you think, yes, I agree with this
statement. But then like you read the
next line, it's like, we used to have an
attempt to make a serious intelligent
adult superhero genre with Zack Snider.
Oh, you you were so close. But actually,
you're just as [ __ ] in the other
direction. [ __ ] sake.
>> No, you you need to you need to come to
the light. And the light is um just end
it. Like don't don't bother trying to
make like DC movies. Um don't do it.
It's uh it it is a well, I'd say
superhero movies in general at this
point. Just give up. Like just don't do
it. Put the resources into I don't know
just original science fiction movies
because hey, you may get [ __ ] like the
creator that was terrible, but maybe you
can get something good out of it.
whereas there's like a chronic inability
to make superhero movies good
consistently
um regardless of the interpretation. And
you know, when the DCU inevitably comes
to an end and they try again, it'll
probably go pretty badly as well. Um you
know, it's uh much like how whatever
direction the MCU decides to go in in
the in the effort to fix their problems,
it won't and it will still be bad. Uh
it's over. There will be no more good
superhero movies with any reliability.
Not that there ever necessarily was an
era where they were reliably good.
>> Yeah. Reliable.
>> At least reliably watchable. You know,
there there was a time when that was the
case. At least they were reliably
entertaining to some extent.
>> The question though, I think Superman is
probably worse than season 5 of Stranger
Things because Superman is supposed to
begin everything
>> and Stranger Things 5 is ending things.
So like nothing else hinges on it. It's
uh it's kind of contained from this
point. Um and if you've been paying
attention then you weren't surprised by
how bad it was. Whereas Superman is like
this is the plank on which the entire
universe has to be built and it's awful.
>> Yeah. And even in the first the opening
frames of the movie with the text on
screen. It's like oh [ __ ] we're already
in trouble.
>> Uh hey rags as you are a doggo. I wanted
to let you know I recently found and
adopted a papa I found in the New
Mexican desert. Just wanted to share.
Oh,
>> you Oh, gee. You found him in the
desert.
>> Well, guess at least he's comfy with air
conditioning and stuff now, so that's
good.
>> Yeah.
Talk about frustrating. The longer the
series went on, the more frustrated I
got with it. The worst example has to be
season 4 where the military just starts
killing government agents and other
soldiers.
>> That was confusing because it was
[clears throat] like a civil war in the
government, right?
>> It was. But I mean, at the time it was,
well, I assume this is going to be a
large part of the subject of season 5,
so like it doesn't yet it doesn't make
sense yet, but it might make sense. No,
it's never going to make sense. In fact,
they pretend that that just didn't
happen in season 5. But I mean, cuz all
they're doing, and they they always do
this with every season if you pay
attention, they just find like isolated
tropes and throw them in. They don't
actually try to make them make sense
within the context of their own world.
But government conspiracies and like
deep state civil wars is an 80s trope
that they hadn't used yet. So they
thought, "Fuck it, we'll throw that in."
And it's an interesting trope, but like
tropes on their own don't work. You have
to like tropes have to be part of a
story, which people seem to forget.
>> Yes.
Um,
back to back, I got Nick can fix her,
Nick can't fix her, Nick might be able
to fix her. No, Nick cannot fix her.
It's a lost cause.
>> I don't know. Dancy
>> maybe. Was was Nick favorable with
Nancy? I don't know.
>> I don't remember.
>> Uh, EAP the goats. He's $5, my man.
Thank you very much. Did he say they are
finishing tomorrow?
Uh, I can't I can't say what I would
have said because we also recorded two
in one, I think, at one point cuz we we
went 11 hours nearly and then we did an
hour after that because Kathn Kennedy
officially had been ousted from
Lucasfilm.
>> Good.
>> That was the [clears throat] Didn't we
round that off? It was the documentary
and KK on the same day. What an exciting
time that was.
>> We had a deal, Synic.
>> Well, this is Welcome to 2020.
>> We had a deal. That's from
>> ESO. That's cuz
>> Oh, is it?
>> Oh, me. Well, it might be, but we've
been trying to get movies in to watch
Game of Thrones and he promised that he
would and he still hasn't done it. And
then we
>> Seven Kingdoms. He hasn't done that
either. Ah. Ooh.
>> I think it was uh it was when it was
when K was trying to get Kyle to suck
his balls. Like you signed an agreement,
Cal.
>> Well, Night of the Seven Kingdoms. There
is no excuse cuz that's about the size
of a a longish movie. So, you should
totally go for it.
>> And my god, it's so good. Welcome to
2020 episode 6. I I get that. I like
that. That's good.
Late and rags. Who is gay? Are you
saying Rags is gay or you asking who
gay? Who gay is? Cuz we'll have to
figure it out. That could be a good
mystery. Who's the gay? Make a board
game out of it.
Uh, if only I could make a deal with God
and I'd get him to write a better
season. Be writing up that show.
Oh, this is this is the lyrics for um
Burning Up that hill.
>> Up that hill.
>> Be writing up that show. Writing up that
series. Yeah. Well, you know. Yay.
finishing up the Steve appreciation
show. Yeah. Yeah. Most scenes he's
pretty awesome, honestly. Just uh that's
how it goes for him. Uh criticism of the
day. Your thumbnail looks like a
nidrotic thumbnail. Um I'm quite proud
of the thumbnail progression on our
Stranger Things episodes. I thought they
were hilarious.
>> I can't remember. I need to remind
myself.
>> The increasingly filled lips.
>> Look at the last one. The last one's
amazing.
>> But um
>> it's funny. I I I I just I've
appreciated getting compared to Perry
Chan. He's like an amazing Photoshop
basher artist person. Meanwhile, me I
just try my best with the limited skill
set I have. Okay.
[laughter]
Um
I'm just 10. Anywhere else I'd be a 10.
Oh, I get it. 10. Good old Bobby. When
we get a sequel to Bobby?
>> I don't know. Uh that's inevitable,
right?
>> Nia, right?
>> Well, probably. But uh what's the person
who did that doing Nania, right? They're
making Nania with Netflix.
>> A Gwig.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Greta Gerwig. So that's what
you can expect next, the Nania
adaptation from her
>> cuz she doesn't want to do a Barbie
sequel, right? So assuming they move on
without her.
>> I mean, probably. I mean, yeah. I I
mean, they they could and I imagine that
they'd still make a lot of money.
The IT miniseries with Tim Curry is far
better than anything the creators of
Stranger Things have have and will
produce in their lifetime. Everything
Stranger Things references is better
than Stranger Things.
I don't think anyone disagrees with
that. Uh I heard in the real season 5
Will casts a warning fireball in a
school zone. Oh no, don't do that.
That's just like Boogie.
I'm thinking about watching Game of
Thrones, though I've heard it falls off
at some point. When should I stop?
The thing is
like how how it's just,
you know, there's a gradient. There's
good scenes in seasons five, six, seven.
There may even be a good scene in season
8. I'd have to rewatch it to be clear,
and it would be in the first two
episodes if it was anywhere.
But like, you get less and less the time
as the time goes on. And so it's like,
so where should I stop? was like, well,
the line I drew as a definitive sort of
transition from episode to episode of
where things go wrong is from the best
episode of the series, which is season
4, episode 9, to the worst of that
series so far, season 4, episode 10.
Does that mean you should stop there?
Well, you know,
it's not as good TV going forward, but
you'll still be quite engaged and
entertained more than likely. And I
think unfortunately with how this works,
and it would have happened to all of us,
you don't necessarily realize in real
time where you've lost your investment,
it'll happen afterward.
>> So, you kind of just
>> That's right. Actually, it'll you'll
never lose your investment like actually
at the exact moment that it becomes not
worth watching anymore. You know, it's
uh it takes a while, right, for the for
the feelings to set in. If you're in
sync with the show and you're really
enjoying it, when uh when it starts to
go bad at the beginning, you'll sort of
have a sort of h um
yeah uh you know that. And then with the
second one, you'll be like uh and then
with the third episode, you'll be like,
"Oh, that's what happened with Arcane."
>> Yeah.
>> Season two. I remember after that first
episode, it was very much um that was
the that was the vibe. And then by the
end I was like, "Oh god,
>> what a
>> what a rough atmosphere in that call
with all of us after we finished the
first act." Just
>> Yeah. Cuz [laughter] I remember the
cope. I remember the coping after that
first episode, but there wasn't much to
be said for it. [laughter]
>> Like, well, I like this this this, but I
really don't like this this this.
>> I assume we're going in this direction,
you know?
>> Yeah. But uh yeah, the the the closeup
when uh when Caitlin says like those
animals, it's like that's a bit that's a
bit that's a bit cringe, guys.
[laughter] That's I don't expect I
expect better from you.
Okay.
>> Uh nearly finished 179 through 181 are
relevant. Denims and Hassan [ __ ] have
some money in recognition of all the
hard work and psychological damage. It
did take a while to uh get all of that
together, but what an arc. The reactor
arc, which uh you know, the story
continues, I guess, on the front of
copyrights and lawsuits and Twitch being
[ __ ] you know, keeps going.
Real ones know that the true actual
legit finale was hidden and will be
released any day now. Just like you
Dumbos will play DDLC any day now,
right? Uh conformity fap. Yes.
You guys just don't understand. Will
saying I don't like girls is a
colloquialism.
Well, Google it then. You don't know
what a [ __ ] colloquialism is.
>> Scrutiny. [laughter]
>> That's one of the best boogie moments
because of the the reality of not
knowing he's being recorded.
>> Realize. Yeah. That's I think that's
what makes it such a unique, powerful,
and damaging
>> uh boogie clip. This is how we treat
somebody when he isn't being watched.
Cuz even even even the things that he
does that you know are very annoying
that you see like on live streams or
whatever. It's like yeah but he's being
watched which is always
complicates things compared to just the
hard cuts of him screaming you liar over
and over and over again.
>> You're a liar. Oh, it was great. bring
back those those days which from what I
understand the log cow [ __ ] really is
crashing like uh their numbers and like
every episode apparently is just a panic
of trying to figure out what the show's
even about which they cycle through
Discord mods constantly because they all
get stressed from the job.
>> This is necessary. Um the best Boogie is
financially stressed Boogie. It's it's
Boogie on the edge. It's Boogie on the
precipice of financial ruin. [laughter]
uh when he's in a position where he
isn't in financial ruin, he becomes less
interested.
>> The [ __ ] video where he was sitting
outside his is his gone or whatever
being like, I'm going to need some
donations. I'm going to need some
[laughter]
>> Yeah, that's his best the documentary,
you know, it's it's uh that's what makes
him it's when he's under pressure. And
the best part is he's probably so
irresponsible that even with whatever
money he's gotten from uh from that that
show, he's probably still like not in a
good position financially. something
people don't realize is some of the
richest YouTubers, quote unquote, from
like apparent view counts, a lot of them
are in financial stress, in
>> insane debt. Because again, it's not
about how much you earn, it's how much
you spend.
>> You know, if there's a guy who makes
$50,000 a year and he only spends
$30,000 a year, that dude is richer than
the guy who makes $200,000 a year and
spends $300,000 a year. You know,
assuming that he isn't spending, I don't
know, a significant amount of that money
investing in stocks or something. But if
he's just buying stupid [ __ ] and Boogie
is, you know, Boogie is the kind I mean,
he he went we went and tried to buy that
[ __ ] Tesla.
Um,
dude, the amount of people who blow
their lives up from like buying cars is
actually like insane. You know, people
people taking out these crazy loans with
like barely any deposit with insane
interest rates and massive like terms
for the for the loan and then getting
themselves into like negative equity
where like they're cut because cars are
heavily depreciating at and buying
stupid cars as well. That's the that's
the worst part. Not buying like a Toyota
Corolla or something, but buying like
some stupid like truck, some dumb like
like a Cadillac or something and then
and then blowing their lives up and it's
like, "Yep, that's boogie. is that kind
of person. So, even with all the money
he's made, I'm sure that he hasn't paid
off his debts.
>> There is unfortunately not a great
aspect of education, as silly as it
sounds, on this front. So, a lot of
people when they get money, when they
haven't had money, start spending it
like crazy cuz they think it keeps
coming in
>> like you on travel too, right? It'll be
like, "Yeah, I'll spend this year, this
year, this year, this year." It's like,
"You're running out." It's like, "Wait,
what?"
>> It's like, "Yeah, no, you're running out
of money." You know, if you if you had
all that money and you were still
driving around your little shitbox car,
your shitbox reliable econo box car, you
know, and you weren't going out to eat
at fancy restaurants all the time, then
you would be doing well. like it and if
you had invested it or you know paid off
debts and stuff but instead if you're
just buying a lot of expense and
especially in Boogie's case buying these
worthless collector's items as well to
litter his house like an o just an ode
to being a capitalist pig [laughter] you
know it's just his entire existence
>> that's the one thing that's coming
that's very funny is him smashing all of
his like trinkets and trophies of his
past life
>> in order to make more money and then
just wasting that
And then wasting. Yeah. Like you destroy
your cuz like that Game Awards thing. I
know we were talking just before about
how you know whatever, but like that's
priceless and he destroyed it.
>> Yeah,
it is insane uh that he's done that with
so much of his [ __ ]
>> But you know, whatever,
>> you know, the the play button stuff like
that. It's like, yeah, this is
irreplaceable. Um these sort of things.
Well, so there was um they they had so
like to to illustrate how desperate they
get, they would do something like, you
know, a thousand members and I will go
outside and pour every condiment in my
fridge on me and then roll around in pig
[ __ ] or something until and you're just
like, "Wow." Okay, but like a thousand
members if they hit that is like that is
a [ __ ] ton of money. But nowadays, it's
like 20 members and we'll have this
Discord mod tattoo boogie's name on his
forehead with his own like makeshift
tattoo parlor in his [ __ ] bedroom.
And then like nobody donates anything
and they'll just be like, "Okay, do it
anyway." Like that's where the show is
now.
>> Yeah. like not much money in exchange
for humiliating damaging sort
[clears throat] of rituals which um but
yeah like
>> I mean to me the best ending is that
Boogie is forced to go back to his
YouTube channel and try to cuz the best
part about that will be that he'll have
to try his strategy will be to try and
present himself as a good person again.
Like that's like sort of an inescapable
aspect of him trying to have a career on
his own channel. Try Could you imagine
him want coming in to talk about Grand
Theft Auto 6? how embarrassing that
would be. Like him trying to offer any
insight into that game,
>> you know, just to try and make some
money
>> when you would talk about drama issues
with YouTubers or video games and movies
in general. Like his his thing of that's
that's my bread and butter is like you
never had anything to say about these
things.
>> No. And then the other thing as well
would be pretending that he's going on a
character arc like when he when he
pretended after the second room trip
that he had deep insights and he had to
offer ap like he had an ego death you
know or like his his first like oh have
you heard of Marcus Aurelius like it's
just I need more of that. I need him
pretending to have philosophical
insights.
>> It's such good content.
>> So uh yeah we'll see how things go. Pro
tip to cleanse yourself after this
atrocity. watch an insane and great
sci-fi show, Pluribabus. Vince Gilligan
does not miss.
>> I like I like Pluribabus, but I would
call it a great show.
>> No.
>> And we don't know if he's missed or not,
cuz season 2 is about 8 years away.
>> Not just that, but season one is low
risk in terms of the story it tells.
It's hard to make that completely [ __ ]
if you know what I mean. There's not a
huge amount of variables right now. Uh,
but we'll go we'll see how it goes
forward. I I have a lot of faith in
Vince Gilligan as a storyteller, so
it'll be cool to see what he does with
it. Um,
it's just rock paper scissors.
Well, I do like rock paper scissors.
Next, to fully go through the Lord of
Ring Gollum Gauntlet can be as follows.
Theo Critical Drinker, Nick Dioro,
Nutser, Forier, and Joe Danger. [snorts]
Well, you get in Nick for sure. I don't
think Theo's even streamed a game yet,
so it's doubtful he would make Gollum
his first one. That would that would
almost I think he'd consider that
antithetical to his existence. Critical
drinker I think we can make happen. Uh
Portier that would be fun. We can get
him to do it. And that's a uh yes I
think we could maybe have that happen
too. We're going to have to see about
all this. It's it's potential there.
It's potential. People been comparing
season 5 to the end of Game of Thrones.
I see it more like the end of Sherlock.
So much cope. So much. Yeah. No, I I
agree. I think it's more applicable to
the end of Sherlock than Game of
Thrones. Um, but I mean that's old. I
can't believe I'm saying this. That's
old enough now that people don't even
remember it happening. Like the the
secret episode for Sherlock that was
going to fix everything. I got through
Joseph's big pissbaby fit. What is he
actually jabbering on about? I respect
the desire to pay more for something you
value and adore, but no reason to shame
people over a bargain.
So, what he he felt that it was going to
make it so that when someone is like,
I've got to buy a game, I'll he he got
nothing about this made any [ __ ]
sense. It was like, I'll I'll always opt
for um Silk Song because it's so much
cheaper and it'll like punish games that
need to be at prices that they are to,
you know, blow stay afloat. But at the
same time, it's like it's a one-time
purchase. And even if it set
expectations on what things should be
priced at, that's still up for everyone
to decide as it currently is with the
whole market. There's a lot of games
that I think everyone would agree seem
like they should cost less than they do
or more than they do. Um I think it's
rarer for coming across games that
you're like, "Oh, wow. This should
probably be more expensive." But I've
played plenty of indie games that I was
like, "Holy [ __ ] this is cheap
considering how much fun I got out of
it." Um but I mean that's how you're
competitive, right? You're like, "Hey,
check out my thing." And then if enough
people buy it and I make a sequel, maybe
I could charge a bit more um or not,
depending on whatever they want to do.
But for example, First Lights, do you
think that game is worth its price?
>> They should be paying us.
[laughter]
>> They should be, but they won't.
>> Uh all he did was prove he absolutely is
a large gay. He sounded like he was on
the verge of tears while he was Alana
Pierce Max. What a massive.
I don't disagree. And uh yeah, a lot of
piercing is a thing for people when they
drift off into making those kind of
wacky gaming arguments.
[laughter]
Uh this whole show feels like bad fanfic
of itself. Nancy is the annoying
self-insert. She has the jock and
soulful art student fighting over her.
She's super cool and knows all the guns.
I'm surprised she didn't get powers by
the end of the show. She would have get
a season six and seven. She would have
had powers probably.
>> Yeah, she would have gotten powers from
the upside down. Yeah. Like Oh, you know
Oh.
Repeated exposure to the upside down
gives you powers. Take the Take this
Pizza Hut. Did they have Pizza Hut in
the 80s? Take this Pizza Hut box.
[laughter]
>> Open it up. I I'm not even going to
bother.
>> Dude, shooting that thing that blasted
him like the radiation. It hit you in a
particular way. Like [clears throat]
Jonathan didn't get powers though. It's
like Yeah. Well, that's he's he didn't
he didn't he he didn't shoot it like
>> What about Jonathan? No, no, no, no, no,
no.
>> [laughter]
>> Maybe he'd be dead by then. Uh, so
you're saying there's a [ __ ] hammer
and it slams the back of a metal spike
causing an explosion inside the gun
which then blasts the spike into the
aliens.
I guess that's a description of a of a
gun. Yeah.
>> Sorry to have further reminded us all of
the big brain take of Mr. Smer is not a
horror game, but I genuinely hate it and
I want the word spread. It was a
baffling thing he was trying to set up
as like how to frame genre. It it it
depends on what feeling it gives you. As
though that would just cancel out every
[ __ ] genre ever as a description of
of anything like you know a drama. It's
like did I feel anything dramatic? Was I
engaged on that level? Like no cuz it
was bad. It's like so it's not a drama
then. Like no it is. It's just bad.
>> Like it it literally is. The idea that a
genre is defined by whether or not it
succeeded in generating that effect in
you is absurd.
Which is funny because there are horrors
and I'm sure you agree for that aren't
necessarily scaring you but you consider
a good horror.
>> Yep. Of course.
>> And so could be like that's not
possible. I was like yeah it is.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Of course.
There's all that that covers just all
genres and and you know it gets weird
too because it's like what makes
something sci-fi you know the feeling of
sci-fi in this case be like well
>> yeah it's like that doesn't really work
the feeling of it actually being epic
>> what makes it a is it not a comedy
because you didn't laugh even if it's
clearly trying to make you laugh
>> makes no sense
>> I don't know I guess start talking about
because there's a few of these. Uh,
Joseph is a hack and should be ashamed
eternally for a shitty opinion along
with being such a weasly little crybully
when called out. Listen,
if his first interaction with me was him
calling him a massive he got he got a
bad impression, but at the same time,
like get over it, I guess, is how I've
always felt since then. Now,
>> didn't get in the way.
>> I thought it was funny. Loads of people
did, but I think he just wanted to opt
for you're a homophobe. It's like, okay,
fine, whatever.
But what if the wizard told him like,
"Yeah, but he's not though." Really and
truly,
>> he when he called you a massive, he
thought it was funny. Okay. Then he's
like, "That's that's ridiculous. No
one's ever done that."
>> Oh, so you think Trey Park are
homophobes? And he's like, "What?" Like,
well,
>> interesting.
>> They've said it a lot as part of their
art. It's like, well, it's okay if you
say it as part of art. It's like, what
does that mean? I also called him a lamp
and I didn't get in trouble for that.
Even though that's absurd,
>> even though that's, you know, that's I
mean, you're saying he's not even human.
You're dehumanizing.
>> Yeah, true.
>> Uh,
wow. Jig, you're a super chat a lot
today. I know, right? Anyway, Warhammer
model of whenever. Wait, I will put that
with the the uh we'll do all of
Warhammer at once. Presumably, we got a
lot of Lego pieces as well, and we're
collecting extinct animals. and Pokemon
and uh well, it's it's going to be a big
old ride when we get there. Anyway, [ __ ]
Stranger Things. I didn't watch it.
Probably won't. Netflix has to do
something to the Duffers for turning
their Iron Man of Netflix originals into
a hollow, useless grave. Technically,
their Iron Man for originals would be
House of Cards,
but uh Stranger Things is like the
Avengers, I guess,
if I'm tracking all of their originals
cuz it's an early one, but it's not the
earliest that got like a lot of acclaim.
Um,
but you know, uh, what's interesting
about Stranger Things is I I don't I'm
not really against saying you can watch
season one and stop
is a complete story with a little hook
at the end for what maybe, you know, you
can leave it like that.
Um,
cuz I like season one.
Tired of characters being regularly
assassinated? Writers not respecting
your intelligence? Want a story with
actual intrigue? Watch the amazing
Digital Circus. also high ranks. Oh
well, yet another recommendation.
Absolute cinema. They must be referring
to Amazing Digital Circus. It can't be
Stranger Things. Re-watching and
listening from episode one. Love this
show. The guests and the tisms. And
thank you for recovering Andor. Love
that show. I love it too. Andor's
beautiful.
>> Sure is.
>> Maybe he's single because he opens with
I am Steve.
I think the most ridiculous part of
Stranger Things is that Steve is single.
>> That's crazy.
>> The biggest plot.
>> Well, he's not by the end though, right?
Cuz he has he has a girlfriend at the
end, I think, in the final episode.
>> Yeah, he has a girlfriend. I remember
cuz it's kind of a bitter irony cuz N
when they're all on the roof and Steve
has got like quite a good life set out
for him and Nancy has just flunked out
of university to do a second internship.
But at least she's independent, so good
for her. So I think you may have just
lost Stranger Things.
>> You have lost the Stranger Things.
>> Like, no.
>> Duffer. Noun. An incompetent or stupid
person. Duff of very poor quality. Duff
man is thrusting in the direction of the
problem. I see. Damn duffers.
Um,
Mr. Oreo saved EAP.
Well, um I mean, you know, he's uh he's
he he some would say that we brought him
into hell covering all of Stranger
Things that way, but you know what? He
was enthusiastic about it as as these
super chats saying, Nicholas the goat
saves Bap. Huzzah. Oh, was this because
he told us how to access the um uh the
the the server change? Remember, because
we couldn't find the option anymore.
Yeah,
>> remember they changed it and that upset
everything. Yeah, it's terrifying.
>> Hello. Was wondering if you guys would
ever plan on doing an efap on The
Witcher 3, a wonderful game that I feel
deserves to be discussed in a similar
sense to God of War Ragnarok. I've not
played it, I'm afraid.
>> No, I haven't played it and I'm not very
familiar with The Witcher as a series.
So, yeah, it would be
>> it's sort of how it goes on EAB. If we
need like connective pieces for all of
us to be able to sort of throw something
on cuz some people were like, "Oh, so
coincidentally you all watched like
Marvel and Star Wars stuff." And like,
yeah. Yeah. [laughter]
>> Yeah.
>> But [clears throat] meanwhile, there's
loads of stuff we don't watch, like of
big IPs that just we just give a miss
because none of us really are invested.
And thus commences the Oreo's first
rodeo in the editing dungeons.
I don't know if he's been to the editing
dungeons yet, but we've got a space for
him. No worries.
Smiling friends, let's make a Chris Chan
reference. Stranger Things, let's make
our whole last season a Chris Chan
reference. The Dimensional Merge now
streaming on Netflix.
Maybe there should be less Chris Chan
references and things. Who can say?
Uh, they should invent Nick the protein
bar to counter Nick the Oreo. They
should also invent good writers to
counter the Duffer brothers. Yeah,
sounds like a plan.
I have a 32x9 monitor and when I play
Lord of Ring on Steam, it narrows my
view instead of widening in it. Widening
it. No joke. Gollum looks like he's
being crushed. That sounds funny.
But uh that's the way to play it, I
guess. Why would mind flare ever need a
physical body anyway? Both rat flesh
form and spiderzilla are way inferior to
his invincible particle form, right?
>> And he has lieutenants to do his bidding
for him. So it's like before Vecner, you
could have made the argument, okay, well
to accomplish a lot of other stuff,
maybe he needs to be physical, but once
you've got Vecnner,
mind you, even then cuz he takes puppets
in season 3. Yeah. No, I think it's just
a [ __ ] decision.
>> Mhm. Poll. Will we have finished
Stranger Things season 5 by Easter?
Yes, I think. I'm sure.
>> I think so.
>> Drinker has a lot to answer for after
his Dispatch takes. Not surprised he was
that naive about J.J. Abrams and Star
Wars.
What do you mean answer for? He enjoyed
it. It's uh it's just how it goes.
[laughter]
Every one of us will disagree with every
one of us at some point about the nature
of the thing. And that's totally chill.
The important part is discussing it. Did
y'all see the Duffer's response to
Conformity Gate? Basically said they'd
take the idea and run with it if they
ever need money. Pathetic.
>> Could you imagine
>> if they announced like a lot of fans
very aptly pointed out that there's a
couple of things left uh unc uncompleted
and they were right. And we were always
planning to do Stranger Things season.
Well, I wonder if legally they'd be
allowed to do like season six or if they
would just call it someone else.
I don't know. I guess we'll find out.
>> She's batshit insane. Oh, this would be
the conformity gate lady, I think.
What's more insane? This lady or her AI
back wall? Oh, yeah. She had an AI
background because there's a bunch of
letters weren't correct.
>> You're trying to imagine Will figuring
out how to use that when he's shining
lights on it. Joyce has to tell it where
they will love. I want to check up on
her. I want to see if like because a lot
of these people, they go all in on these
theories and in her case, she
passionately believed it. She wasn't
just doing it for money. She wasn't
drifting. She was just genuinely insane.
And what she's saying now, I'm I'm kind
of interested to find that out.
>> Follow up on she's okay.
>> Yeah.
She hasn't uploaded since uh when was
season episode 9 supposed to come out?
She's just disappeared.
>> Mhm.
>> We fear the worst. Do process. You keep
using that word. I don't think you know
what it mean or you think it means what
you think it means. Reference that I
butchered. Uh Pascal's conformity gate.
Schroing his season.
The 2023 Hollywood strike delayed the
production of season 5 of Stranger
Things along with all the other film and
shows waiting to be filmed. Yeah, some
damage was done with that unfortunately.
Uh as per usual with any kind of writing
strike, it's only a season if you
interpret it as a season. Of course,
another classic Quinton quote right
there. They think the Duffers a Peter
Griffin when his family just counted
thousands of lottery tickets.
Yeah. Well, I'm sure Netflix think the
Duffers like really know what they're
doing, but you know, they'll find out
that isn't the case. Season 5 ending.
Drink your Ovaltine.
It's the themes. Sure. Hypothetically,
could Platoon fix her? H
>> uh if we're talking about the crazy
woman. No, I think she's beyond help.
[laughter]
>> Ma'am, this is a Wendy's. Hey, if I
worked at Wendy's, that would be very
entertaining to hear. Okay. Like, you go
ahead. You talk about conformity, gate.
Holy [ __ ] Rag. She's using the ancient
EAP fly catching technique Jenny used.
Oh, now that's a deep cut. Much of her
facts are AI generated. She probably had
some help from Chad GBT trying to figure
all this out. Um, I feel like they know
less about D and D after playing
Boulders Gate 3 somehow.
>> I don't think they knew anything about
it.
>> No, they said they knew nothing about
it. They had to sort of catch up on the
fly.
>> Yeah,
>> that's why they skipped over a bunch of
DND bosses to get to Vecnner.
>> Yeah. [gasps]
And it's just in retrospect, it's just
such it's kind of just sad, isn't it?
Like you didn't you didn't care about
any of it. And and yet all the fans
certainly did. I'm more of a nerd than
this brick face. Lol. We got some nerd
cred wars going on here. We are the
bucket masters. He will not divide us.
Laugh my ass off of getting some Oh,
what? Oh, yeah. She was talking about
buckets, right? You fall into one of two
buckets as fans.
Got bucket milk here. [laughter]
Ombberto Eko's novel Folk's Pendulum is
a brilliant and hilarious examination of
conspiracy theories recommended.
I wonder if it'll explain conformity
gate.
#release the fly. She must be Hassan's
halfsister.
Maybe. This reminds me of the
indoctrination theory that went around
after the Mass Effect 3 ending. People
couldn't accept boware crap endings.
>> God. Yeah.
I don't even remember exactly what it
was, but I do remember that. Yeah. The
indoctrination theory to like the I
Dude, I Yeah, I don't remember, but it
was it was Yeah, because people couldn't
accept that. No, Mass Effect 3's endings
are pretty simple. Do you want blue
explosion, red explosion, or green
explosion?
Which one do you want? Those are your
three choices. and destroy the mass
relays, thereby stranding everybody in
whichever star system they're currently
in, which means that on Earth, which is
currently being destroyed by the
Reapers, you've got just an entire fleet
of desperate alien races stuck in a uh
depleted planet.
That's okay cuz your crew landed on some
random planet somewhere and they're
going to start over or something. Even
though there's only like even even
though just what does that even mean?
They're going to start over on this
random planet. Also, you die no matter
what. It's like, cool. Nice ending.
[sighs and gasps] Oh. Oh, and I remember
cuz uh cuz the when they fixed the game,
they uh they added in an ending that
obviously should have been there, which
is, "Dude, [ __ ] your choices. I'm not
making any of your choices. Like, I'm
not doing this, you know?" And then and
then the cycle continues.
I remember um I remember Cole Mori Arti
like made the argument that it was like
it was absurd to demand that they fix
the ending because that was like their
artistic intent and you have to accept
that like this is the ending that they
wanted
>> and it's not your place to demand that
they change it to uh to conform to what
you want.
>> That seems a bit
>> silly. Silly. Yeah, I guess you could
apply that to everything. It's always
those arguments are always funny when
that person is like keep an eye on that
person in future. Guarantee you they
contradict that 100%.
>> Well, just something that's a bit
awkward is that you have to accept that
um people felt like they had been lied
to. They were told that this was a
series where all of the choices that
they made would amount to something in
the end. To be presented with a binary
choice that is available to you no
matter what choices you make throughout
the game is something of a betrayal of
that premise. It goes beyond just like,
oh well, this is their artistic intent.
Get over it. To like, oh, but that's not
what they said that their artistic
intent was when they sold me those games
for 60 bucks. So, at that point, you
know, such and and of course, the fact
that it's a video game means well, you
can change it. You can patch it in in a
way that is not really possible for uh
movies or books.
Like, you can change it to give people
more choices. And they did. And they
called it the director's cut. So,
[laughter] that is the authorative uh
the authorative, you know, boware
approved ending, which is still not
good, but it's better than what the
original was. I remember cuz I um I I
was playing I played the game for like
12 hours that day. I was so hyped for
Mass Effect 3 and I I played it for like
12 hours and by the time that I got to
the ending, it was like 1:00 a.m. and
[laughter] I just felt empty. I was just
like, I don't I don't understand like
what what was that? What just happened?
What is the fate of the galaxy and my
crew?
Oh, thanks old random old man talking to
that kid talking about like the stories
of the shepherd or whatever. It's like
this doesn't help. I don't understand
what's happened. Why have you done this
to me? Why have you betrayed me so
>> tragic?
Um
>> I mean it's still a good game, but you
know
>> what's the best one? Is it two? Uh,
well, I think the thing I've I've not
actually played Mass Effect one, and I
know that people go to bat for its RPG
mechanics as being like the best in that
one.
>> Mhm.
>> Um, it's I mean, it's certainly not
three. Uh, but I can't speak for one, so
I guess for me it would be two.
>> Is there any chance that all of this
mania actually memes an episode into
existence? It's not that it already
exists, but Netflix and the duffers has
cynically try to cash in on it like the
MorbiiUs re-release. Um maybe, but not
for a while. Uh we'll have to see
because they're going to experiment with
Stranger Things, right, as an IP where
it can go, what it can do,
>> and if they realize there's nothing and
then they're like, "What about a season
six? What about a conformity gate
season?"
>> And uh I can see the Duffers being like,
"We'll do it."
Um,
a common cat parasite toxopplasma gandhi
can infect humans and potentially alter
personality increasing risk takingaking
and neuroticism.
>> That's that's cat lady. Let's like that
is what is the cat lady, right? Is is
that
>> Yeah. Well, that's the theory anyway. So
that's what it's born from.
>> Increased risk takingaking is good,
right?
>> Uh well,
>> yeah, but neuroticism not so much.
Yeah, that that that is not so great.
>> Uh, we had a good thing, you son of a
[ __ ] We were housing cows.
>> Farewell and a due to you Singapore
ladies. Yeah, we got to Singapore. It's
all good. Everything's safe.
>> Dude, that we had a good thing you
stupid. Every single time I [laughter]
We had a good You stupid son of a [ __ ]
Start cackling.
I am an intelligent person. I watch
media literature to the I watch media
literate YouTube channels and have
deciphered the lottery. You eapons
cannot comprehend my 98 IQ level. Whoa,
pretty cool. And you're watching us, so
that means that we're kind of 98 IQ at
least as well.
>> Stranger GP things.
Oh, I get it. Like chat GPT, but
strange. Has this type of cope and
denial ever happened with another show?
Yes, Sherlock. I remember it well. It
was specifically going to be another
episode that was going to clear
everything up and basically decanonize
or recontextualize everything stupid.
Unfortunately,
>> that's a really funny like
thought process, isn't it? You know,
like, oh, there's like a secret there's
a secret next part where it's all going
to make sense. Nah. No. Fans wanted new
Game of Thrones ending, but they didn't
believe D and D were saving a surprise
episode. Yeah, I know. That's why it's a
different beast, but at the same time,
yes, it's not actually new.
Unfortunately, for all I know, Sherlock
isn't even This is probably an older
example. It's probably happened before.
Uh, is there protein in the CGI's urine?
Perhaps. Perhaps.
Time for bed. See you next week for
episodes 6 through 9. Oh, maybe. I don't
know how many we actually got through in
total of which time, but yes, agreed.
Hey, military, fire works. Protect the
kids. Credits.
Fire does work really well, but you
wouldn't know it when the military get
attacked part of the episodes where they
just fail miserably.
>> There's precisely one moment when they
remember that fire works. But then
Vagnner comes through and for reasons,
fire doesn't work on Vagnner, even
though he's connected to the hive mind.
And the hive mind shares pain. So, he
should be feeling it. Never the [ __ ]
mind. It's all done. It makes no sense,
but yes, they should have remembered the
fire was a thing.
>> You're asking a lot.
Steve's car was the saddest casualty of
the season. No.
To shreds, you say? And how is his wife?
To shreds, you say?
>> The [laughter]
great be. Hey, rags, which is the better
Scooby-Doo movie, a witch's ghost or
zombie island? The correct answer is
always going to be Zombie Island. Dude,
that [ __ ] movie is amazing. Okay. as
well as the theme. But then again, you
might have a different answer. Fringy,
best Mass Effect character. And why is
it Liara?
>> Oh, I think it's Garas. Um, but Liara is
really cool. But yeah, Garus is my
favorite. Um, and you can make the case
for Mortyn. He was he was awesome,
especially with his ending. Well,
especially with the the only the only
ending I accept for that character. You
know what I'm talking You know what I'm
talking about. [laughter]
Um, no. It's it's it's Garus. It's just
he is um, dude, it's just it's he's just
so cool. [laughter] He's so cool.
Oh, I missed him. I passed back popped
back in real quick to say Fanganger is
watching Nikki's recent quartering
video. Meanwhile, he was here earlier.
Small world. Yeah.
>> Ah,
>> not a barn. It's a cow house. It is
indeed. a shilling for the Stranger
Things conformer meter. If platoon
doesn't address him as delightful Derek
from this point on now that he's on the
team, it's officially him fat shaming a
child.
>> He's fat Derek. That's his name.
>> Yeah,
>> Derek of House Fat.
>> He earned that name through a lot of
work. Are we sure the Duffers are even
real? Has anyone met them? U apparently
they they are real. They're in the
behind the scenes. Unfortunately,
they went where missing socks go. My
god, a whole other dimension.
Uh, he was inside the demogorgan.
I don't think fat Derek would get inside
the demogorgan.
I don't think so.
>> Secret season 5 is Ted Wheeler and
Derek's family.
That would be nice.
>> Just that's what a secret season is. is
just actually going through each of
these scenes and being like, "So, these
people didn't die because this this this
like the pregnant ladies and stuff just
it's just the duffers sit on chairs
being like, it actually does make sense
if you think about it for these
reasons."
Uh, why did the vacuum stop after the
end of the scene where the car was
sucked into space? Why didn't the whole
upside down disappear immediately?
>> Because
it did. Oh,
>> it got blocked. Something clogged it. We
just didn't see.
>> Not sure.
>> Makes sense. Makes sense. Uh why was the
wall made of flesh specifically?
>> Cuz it looks cool.
>> It looks cool. That's why there
>> that's their reasoning.
>> You can even this is it part of the
documentary, but they're trying to
explain it to the actors and uh
[laughter] you can hear in their tone of
voice and their facial expressions
they're not buying it
>> when the ders are like saying and so
yeah. So, like the um you know, our
dimension is is and the upside down is
connected to the abyss via the uh the
flesh walls and everyone kind of looks
at him like he's mad. He says it'll make
more sense when we've written the
script. H no it won't.
>> Uh they think the wall of a wormhole is
a tangible thing and not warped time and
space. It is in this continuity.
So, [ __ ] you. How does the mind flare
now have a body and why was it dead?
Maybe it died with the audience's
goodwill and trust.
What the what can you even say about the
mind flare at this point?
>> But like it being dead made a degree of
sense because you could have
hypothesized like drawing from the
information you know in season 4. Maybe
Vegner kind of, you know, met it, got
his powers from it, and then overtook it
and killed it and is now using its body
as some for some reason. That would have
made probably more sense than no, it's
actually not dead. It just sleeps like
that and then it's going to wake up and
be a giant spider monster and it's going
to die really easily.
>> Cocaine would also activate it
presumably. Yeah, maybe.
Lightly walking up that hill. Vecar
would show the duffers the word
continuity.
I think that would that would truly
terrify them. Yeah, that's good. That
makes sense. Uh, as we all know, Rags
fails to be an apex homosexual. So,
platoon, what superpowers did your
sexual preferences give you?
>> Um, it sort of depends on the weather.
>> Ah,
>> cuz at the moment I've got none, but you
know, when it's when it's not 39,000°,
then I have some, but I can't remember
what they are cuz it's too hot.
>> Yeah, temperature does [ __ ] with memory.
It's It's a thing. It's a known thing.
My grandfather died last Christmas. Will
he return in Avengers Doomsday? Well,
I'm sorry to hear that. And if anyone's
returning in that movie, I think you
just don't want anyone returning,
honestly. I don't think it's going to be
well handled. Uh whether fictional or
other references at this point, I just
want Vader to show up. I think that's
the the step of combining Marvel and
Star Wars. I just want him to do it.
Give up already and do it. Uh cheers for
me getting through half of a 12-hour
shift. I never got past the first few
episodes of 50 season 1. I'm sorry, but
I love listening to y'all complain about
it. Well, had some praise for season one
as well, but you know, yeah, that's kind
of how it went. Darn. Another
pre-recorded EAP. Sigh. Maybe next week
I'll catch them live. Hi, Rags.
Ah, we were live the whole time and they
didn't even know.
Vecna is like Papa and Mhler is like
Papa. Oh, no. Friends don't lie. We made
a deal, Sidic. I think this is because I
said like we were hoping to get all of
season 5 wrapped in that stream, but we
we couldn't. Obama means family and
family means I don't like girls. Quite a
quote.
>> We're find the interview with Duffers
cry about mean. Cry about mean.
>> Oh, what? Where they cried about like
the people were being mean to them like
that they they couldn't handle how much
people were criticizing the show or
something.
>> Is that a thing? Why am I blanking on
that? remember. I mean, they talked
about
>> like how they shouldn't have done all
the interviews that they did.
>> Oh, yes. That's that's what I was
thinking about. Yeah,
>> cuz their equivalent of of Dan and
Dave's I forgot was one of the dubbers
says, I was losing my mind. I had the
flu. It's like, no, you just didn't know
what your own story was, mate. That's
that's the problem.
>> Yeah, we got the reasoning. We got loads
of reasoning for why they did
everything.
>> Got scrutinized heavily. It's like,
yeah, guys, I wonder why that is.
We got We got all of it. We heard it all
in real time.
There's no escape.
I believe she's out when I see her
walking out. Oh, we talking about 11
maybe. I think
uh she's gone at last. We trade one
villain for another. My god, Mhler is
changing the formula.
We're going back to formula.
>> We trade one villain for another. That's
a That's a Halo 3 reference. Whoa.
Yeah, good stuff.
>> Oh, sweet crispy demogorgans. Oh, wait.
Damn. Well, I haven't watched any
Stranger Things. Looks like I made a
great choice. Just like with Game of
Thrones. Anyw who wanted to know
favorite Mega Bonk character to play.
Oh, it's been a while since I've
actually played Mega Bonk now, but I
very much did enjoy it. I kind of like a
whole bunch of them. Um, one of my
favorites was the I forget the name of
him, but the guy who just flexes and has
the aura around him. He's kind of the
equivalent of the garlic man from uh
Vampire Survivors for me. But uh to an
extent it's fun to play them all in
terms of leaning into the benefits. But
yeah, uh I kind of liked him and I like
the vampire dude. Um so you know those
be the the preferences I think from
memory anyway. ISO not here. Fellow film
critic Mr. Oreo. Yes. Well known
wellrespected film critic. If you like
Goth Morangi's Dark Place, watch Danger
Five.
Fair enough. Say hi to Ragu. We'll do
the Oreo is on four times in a row. I
think I know what that means. It was all
Stranger Things. [laughter] He was on
for the boys stuff, too. I'm afraid
that's just uh just how it goes.
Mhler, please use your T Magnafi French
accent to read a few super chats. Bringy
uh can make a name for himself by
helping in cinjun. Rags 2 was Kermit.
Platoon, please translate for your
Franco
Phonic co-hosts.
>> I translate what now?
>> I I I don't I don't even really know.
You have to translate something for your
Franco frogoponic co-hosts.
Um but they want
>> you have to read them in French
>> and Fringy has to speak in cinjun.
Sorry.
>> Do you do that and then I translate? I
just I'm confused.
>> Okay. Well, we got uh the first question
is uh what is your least favorite uh
episode each? So, least favorite, but
Stranger Things, I guess.
>> And so, I need to reply like Gambit,
[laughter]
>> I guess.
>> I don't even know what a Cajun accent is
really. Um, I I I don't I I don't know.
I don't actually know what my least
favorite episode of of Stranger Things
is, but I'm about to make a name for
myself [laughter] here.
>> Uh, what is the worst episode? I don't
even know.
>> I don't
>> It was too many.
>> Yeah. I mean, I I do think that the
coming out episode, just because of like
how much it kills pace and how laughable
it is, is one of the worst episodes of
the season. Um,
but then there's so many other things
that are just as bad. No, I don't
actually think it's possible to answer
that question. There are so many share
ones.
>> Like the end, the end is terrible. It's
one of the worst finales of all time.
Uh, why would he need 12 kids and not 11
kids?
I don't think they really thought that
through like why the number
>> no and it was just I think in the end it
was well there are 12 numbers on a clock
and I said people talk about didn't even
feel like that played into it that much
itself. The ticking and the grandfather
clock and stuff didn't really didn't
seem to make it into season 5 that much.
>> It did. I mean it's there just as an
art. it becomes like Vecner's almost
like his entrance theme as opposed to an
actual story thing. So like when he
first when he has that this scene with
when he's got the 12 kids and like first
connects them together and it's the end
of that episode and it fades to black
and you hear the clock ticking.
>> Yeah.
>> And it's like is is this supposed to
mean something symbolically or is it
literally just oh my goodness the clock
is ticking but it doesn't answer why he
needs 12 kids. But then he gets even
more [ __ ] because he loses one of
them, right? He loses Fat Derek, but
then he captures Will and Will is
already one of his vessels because
that's what he was used as before. But
then rather than just putting Will into
the mind [ __ ] prison,
>> he's like, "No, I'm going to use you to
locate Max in hospital cuz I couldn't
figure that one out for myself." It's
just they're just making up as they go
along. It's insane.
Uh, if you were on Minecraft row
awaiting your Minecrafting, what would
your final meal be? Plutes, no need to
answer. We'll cook you up a nice steak.
My final meal. Um,
I don't know honestly.
What if I order like a buffet and I have
something from all over the world and I
can just
>> I don't know. I don't think that's in
the SP. And also, I'm pretty sure a lot
of places have like a a price limit. I
think like I remember watching a YouTube
video that said like that some states,
you know, the max cost is $25
last meal. Well, because I think it's
because people get things that were like
extravagant, so they had to impose like,
nah, sorry, man. 25 bucks is the is the
ceiling.
Which is funny because if it was 25
bucks, it's like, dude, you can't you
that's like not you won't get anything
particularly interesting for $25 as a as
a meal, you know?
>> Yeah, I'd want to get something crazy,
luxurious, and maybe a bit different
than I've had before as well. I don't
know.
>> I don't know. I I don't know, actually.
Yeah, I'm not sure what I would want.
Uh, super not a very satisfying ad, but
yeah, there you go. [laughter]
>> I mean, you know, there's not going to
be that other than I'll get a KFC. Like,
[laughter]
fair enough. Which which is I because I
think I've seen a video similar to that,
but someone did order a [ __ ] ton of KFC
if they got on death row before. And
it's like, yeah, makes sense. You know,
have a fun have fun with your last meal.
Have some McDonald's.
They could use that in their marketing.
Super Mario 64 Co-op Deluxe is
perfection. Unless I'm reading the SM
wrongly. Perhaps you four EFAP chaps
could play it together.
Uh maybe someday. I don't know.
You each have to pick one guy to play as
between the Mario and Mario Bros.. How
would you divvy it up? Mole is probably
Waluigi. No copies. Yeah, I'd happily be
Waluigi. He's funny.
Um Frankie, would you be Yoshi?
Yeah, probably.
>> Damn it. That was my choice.
[laughter]
>> You can be Luigi.
>> Well, you be Luigi. Yeah. Why would I be
Luigi? Luigi sucks. Wow. No,
>> he doesn't. He's um
>> I'd be picking Luigi if not for Waluigi.
>> Yeah. Well, it's funny. Yeah, cuz my
hierarchy of Mario characters, Luigi
usually slots at number two.
>> Yeah. Damn.
>> I I really like Luigi.
And then Shy Guy would be coming in at
third place, fighting him for second
place.
>> He's fun.
>> I love THE SOUNDS HE MAKES.
>> Which is funny cuz I think my favorite
is Boo. I just love Boo. He's so cool.
>> Do you mean Boo or King Buu?
>> No, Boo. I'll take Boo.
>> Okay.
>> King Buu is a little bit too
pretentious.
[laughter]
>> Buu knows what he is.
He puts it in the name.
Uh, I don't understand. How does a
camera capture anything when completely
submerged in blood? Even a futuristic?
It's so weird to me.
Um, I guess it depends on the effects
you use.
>> Are we Oh, are they talking about Well,
cuz it's an X-ray camera, right? Is the
idea. Um, or it doesn't It's not a
conventional, I guess, is the best
answer I've got for that.
In season 2's finale, Dustin says, "It's
only a matter of time before those
tunnels reach this town. So, how do they
reach under the center of the town in
season five?"
>> When they were blocked off in season 3,
>> right?
>> And it turned out that Willard dug them
all some.
>> Yeah.
>> If you could play as Waluigi in three
non-cononical games, which would they
be? Well, Mario Sunshine for me. I'd
love to be Waluigi.
just running around and imagine him with
a jetpack. I just that'd be wonderful.
>> Yeah.
>> Um I mean Mario Galaxy then probably
with Waluigi.
>> It seems
>> Can you imagine him with Rosalina
telling him to go on his quest and he
just [clears throat] goes around robbing
people? [laughter]
>> Is it limited strictly to Mario games?
Because they said three non-cononical
game play.
Okay,
>> that' be that'd be great. Yeah. Could
you imagine W Luigi in a Spartan suit
that has a big carve out for his nose?
Like a big
>> I kind of want him in dead space. I
think just him reacting to all of this
[laughter]
>> like a horrifying creature goes blah
then he just goes and starts running
away awkwardly.
>> Who who who would be his like girlfriend
for uh you know who would be his Nicole
for the
>> Daisy? I don't know. Well, that would I
what that he lusts for Daisy, but she's
[laughter]
betrod to Luigi. So, he imagine
[laughter]
the ending then him taking off his
helmet sitting there and then you've got
this bloody evil Daisy
[laughter]
and then it cuts to
>> That's what it cuts to black on him
saying. Yeah.
>> Yeah. I'd say that's a pretty good pick.
Um but You know, there's lots of good
stuff you could fit him into. Maybe S as
well.
>> Yeah,
>> he'd be a welcome respite from all of
the horrors. Waluigi deserves a bit more
attention. I think he's
>> he's kind of interesting he's not had a
spin-off game at this point. You figure
that he would have one cuz of course
Wario's got, you know, like a dozen.
>> Um, is Vecman defeated yet? No. Still a
bit more to go on uh breaking him down,
defeating him with plans.
Uh
does this ending count as you are r for
Mr. Oreo? Sure. Of the show. Yeah, I
guess that makes sense. Tell not I said
hi. Will do. Oh, also tell Nick I said
both hi and cherry. You'll appreciate
that.
With Fona now in charge of Lucasfilm,
get ready for every new project to
feature Ahsoka and a minimum of three
glove shadows from older Fona projects.
Which is funny because
>> how did you anticipate the Mandalorian
and Grou in that way?
>> How many Glo Shadows do you get in
Mando? You got Rotor, Enbo, and
>> Zeb. Yeah, that's that's a really sol
cuz you wouldn't really count the twins.
That's not really fair. But the other
three definitely counting
I said gobble gobble goo.
[laughter]
That's good. I'm glad I'm glad that you
said gobble gobble. That's funny.
>> How do you love a part of yourself that
makes you worse than everyone else? Find
the answer to this question in Amazing
Digital Circus. Also high rags.
>> Okay. Well, there you go. Uh, every time
I see number two, all I hear is the ATHF
hypno gym file cabinet yell cough ys11
edited for YouTube. I don't know what
the [ __ ] any of that means.
>> No.
>> I'm gonna give it a thumbs up though.
Just I raised the thumb. I just watched
episode 253 where platoon admitted to
never having seen Wall-E. Has this been
remedied yet? No, but it will be
>> still in.
>> Listen, we've been very busy. Okay.
>> Nancy Wheeler grew up to be a
gunslinging anti-mask supporter outside
your local Walmart. L Bozo,
good for her.
11 definitely has a face for radio in
all of her scenes.
I mean, she uh
>> but she doesn't look that [ __ ] in
other things that she does. That's
that's the weird thing about her in this
season particularly. She just looks
awful.
>> Uh I like how in season 3 she speaks
relatively like a normal person. Then by
season 5, her vocabulary turns into a
vegetative state. This probably is again
about 11, I think. Uh mom watched season
5. I asked her what she thought. She
said, "I was annoyed when they had no
agency. Like a portal that's going to
close is there and they're talking and
then you run through it when they get
close to the portal."
I mean, like pacing is off with urgency
on like every scene. The further along
you get, nobody acts normally, I guess,
cuz everything's a green screen and
stuff, but you know, among other
problems.
Um,
also, I wish you Dumbos urgency to play
DDLC, but I guess the writers of IRL
can't always deliver. Well, a reddraft
of the script is in order.
Perhaps Jas will do that. Maybe Steve's
actor came up with the argument since
the actors seem to always pay more
attention than the writers. Most of the
good stuff you ever find is very likely
not the duffers. It's come from someone
else. And it was lucky to have found out
even pieces of uh what belongs to other
people in terms of credit.
>> Finished fellowship last night. Two
towers right now. Return tomorrow. It's
been an experience watching in the
theaters. Hell yeah.
You keep at it. It's good stuff. Yo yo
yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo yo
yo yo. Hello all my Ewoks. Tony checking
in again. I made it through EAP 300 on
my oneyear anniversary of starting from
EAP 1. It's been an anniversary stream
every two months this year. Anyways
guys, still catching up. Hope you have
fun.
Can't wait for the Stranger Things
appendices full of offscreen events and
interview answers. It'll be cool. As
cool as a Sylmerelion appendices for
sure. I think it'll just be depressing.
the documentary. I mean, there was I
still can't believe they released that.
>> Yeah,
>> that's [laughter] crazy. They released
it and they thought that these behind
the scenes clips of them talking about
the movie would make people think they
were [ __ ] geniuses.
>> They thought that.
>> They thought it made them
[clears throat and laughter] look good.
>> Didn't they have that interview clip
with is it Rosares? And they talk about
killing people off, but you know, that
just gets depressing. [laughter]
>> Oh my god.
And then that inspired Eric Krypkkey,
another, you know, hack in kind to be
like, "Yeah, we get rid of our
characters. We're getting rid of all the
characters that you all knew were going
to die all along."
And Frenchie, I guess.
>> Yep.
Episode seven's going to take months.
Was it eight total?
>> Yes.
>> Seven.
>> Trying to think what happens in seven
compared to I mean, it's all insane
wacky nonsense when you get to a point,
you know?
Uh, rip Steve's car. Helpful and abused
as Steve was. Sad, sad, sad. I know it's
[ __ ] Point 9876 for the show, but
if the upside down didn't exist before
exotic matter was used to create the
wormhole, meaning it had to be opened in
real Hawkings, why isn't it still there?
>> I don't know what they were thinking of
with any of that. So 11 creates the
upside down in season 1, but in season
5, there is a big glowing orb of death
called exotic matter, which Brena may or
may not have made himself in the upside.
That's what creates the portal that
links to the abyss, I think, is how
that's supposed to work.
Um,
but then they say that the the abyss
always existed though because the reason
Eleven couldn't find anyone from her
bath is because characters were there
and not in the upside down and she has
limited range even though she's earlier
detected preachers in the abyss. I don't
[ __ ] know. I don't I It's Yeah.
>> Well, I'm glad we've uh got that all
sorted,
>> you know.
Uh, criticism of the day, your take on
Atlas. Self-explanatory, really. Well, I
mean, you you can't just say that you
you don't like my opinion and that's
criticism. Like, that's you got to do
better than that.
>> That's more like statement of the day.
>> Yeah. Well, I mean, you know what?
Criticism of the forever for you. Your
criticisms of the day have been lacking,
man. You just they're just not very
good. You got to work on them. Okay. got
you got
>> well I mean I mean what's why even call
it like criticism why not just like say
what you think
>> because he wants to waste six characters
for some reason it's like you know you
could get more space if you don't do
that
>> um and you know what else not cool to be
plagiarizing your criticism all right
that's an old one that plenty of people
delivered at the time you got to you got
to get more
>> how long ago was it that you watched at
I mean [ __ ] how many years ago
>> we're talking is that year three
>> at least five years Right.
>> So,
>> yeah, year three would be about that.
So, yeah. Um,
>> so that's a that's a pandemic era take.
>> You got to you got to next time, you
know, find something a bit more
contemporary. Okay. You'll be fine.
>> Also, maybe maybe he was talking about
the the one that's coming out in Netflix
that people don't feel so good about.
>> Well, I don't think I have an opinion on
that. Maybe that's the criticism. I
should have an opinion on that. You
should watch the Netflix uh Avatar. I'm
pretty sure season two is coming out or
is out now.
>> Exciting. They're going to the Earth
Kingdom, right? With the Earth Benders.
>> Get stuck in everybody.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh Mo, you've got to figure out how to
turn ads off or just admit you have them
on to monetize the live streams.
>> [laughter]
>> admit it.
>> What What other reason would I have ads
on
>> like for your entertainment?
>> I hope the ad.
>> So yeah, I I if there is a chance that
people don't know this. So the ads keep
the lights on broadly along with
obviously super chats help as well, but
like AdSense for all these shows, this
is how we all get paid. So, and I figure
if it's too much for you, use a blocker
of any kind. I completely encourage it.
I don't I I don't have any issue with
that.
>> For all YouTube premium
>> or premium. Yeah. Like um but no. Yeah.
Uh all YouTubers, as far as I'm aware,
there's there's a few exceptions. They
will leave AdSense on because it's
extremely helpful to keeping the show
going. Um but if you find it is ruining
your experience, you can do several
different things to get rid of it. But
no, I I find that so bizarre. like you
have to admit that it's for
monetization. It's like yeah, there's
actually no other reason I would have
>> internet mentality. It's like, wait, why
aren't you working for my entertainment
for free?
>> Well, cuz it's a job. Do you work at
your job for free?
>> But it is it is still for free. They
don't have they can do whatever
>> and it is for free. Yeah. Like that is
the that's the hilarious part. It is
free. You don't have to pay anything.
And they they follow. I wouldn't be mad
if you have them on on purpose. You've
got a right to monetize.
>> What is the point of this, buddy? What
What is the point of this message?
[laughter] It feels like you figured it
out.
>> So, their explanation, at least they
think, is that it's on by accident. I
didn't know, but I did know. And it's
it's I've also got on the lowest
settings, so I don't know what I'm
supposed to do.
>> Yeah, that's right. So, it doesn't get
any better than this other than zero
money, which, you know, I'd say is a
slightly unreasonable request.
>> Hey, can you just like not make money?
>> We're trying to keep the show going
still.
>> Seems to recognize that that's that's
the case and then chill with it. So, I
don't even really understand the point
of this uh of this message. It's very
confusing.
>> And it's followed up with someone saying
ad tax. So, I assume they're saying they
don't they don't have the ads and
instead would give a super chat, which
totally fine if if that's what you want
to do. Appreciate it. How the hell did
you guys get away with three
pre-recorded episodes in a row? Also,
high ranks. I don't know how we do it,
but we do it on better stories. I've
been experiencing God of War story,
mostly the Norse games every winter
since Ragnarok's release. It has some
real wisdom, and it gets me rather
emotional. Has Platoon experienced it
yet?
I assume not.
>> Uh, no. I've not played a single God of
War game.
>> Um,
maybe we'll remedy that someday. Who can
say?
>> Hello, massives. Thanks for reading out
my Joyce doesn't give two shits about
Jonathan's comment. Uh, Fringy, a term
for when male characters get their
agency sapped by female character. Go to
the OG, a Loki or Sylvie.
>> Oh, well, like looking for like a name
like a like a a name for for this as a
trope like the frriging trope. Yeah,
like in the case of you have the female
version of a character and then
>> the Loki Si one is just kind of a great
distillation of it. Here is a new just
better version of him but a girl.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, boy. It's the [ __ ] room. But in all
seriousness, I could not take this scene
seriously. Season 5 had me in a brain
deadad state. But all I could think of
when watching this scene is, they're
going to die in the [ __ ] room.
>> I love the C room. It's the room.
Why would you do this? And then the
behind the scenes stuff of how difficult
it was to do. And the abiding question
is just then why did you do it?
>> Were they saying like they think this is
going to be crazy popular and like blow
people's minds as
>> they said I think this is going to be
one of the most memorable things in the
season. And they're correct. It was
>> it's a come room.
>> The come room.
>> But [clears throat] I do love that Shawn
Levy uses an opportunity to talk about
how great of a director he is at solving
problems on the fly.
>> Yeah. And then he's solving problems. So
the player was just saying, "Yeah, we're
just going to have to do this in post.
>> We're [laughter] just
>> how it goes."
>> Uh
for EAB 400, you guys should do a
segment where you go through who, where,
and how all the useless star, sorry,
Stranger Things characters should have
died. No, I don't want to do that.
>> No. No. Never again.
>> We're done with Stranger Things. We
never have to return unless they make a
season six, which would be hilarious.
In between the two towers and return of
the king. Finally got to see them in
theaters. Awesome.
Early night for me. I look forward to
watching the inevitable conclusion of
the Stranger Things arc in the morning.
More people sus. Thanks guys. Oh yes,
the people sus remote. He's beautiful.
And we did get through it all. We
completed our mission.
Imagine if one of the soldiers told them
to run.
We don't do intelligent things ever in
Stranger Things. All right. You got to
do it so that it leads to the most
spectacle. And then sometimes not even
that.
Demo dogs. Oh no. Quick, get some three
musketeers.
Oh, the [ __ ] hospital demo dog thing.
That [ __ ] was so bad.
It's the third stream in a row about
Stranger Things that syncs up with me
puking constantly. Note that all other
days of the week have gone by
peacefully. I beg of you, don't make a
stream about the behind the scenes. I'm
so sorry.
Let's go. I think this person was more
enthusiastic about uh these streams. A
shilling for the foreigner objects gauge
thingy. Foreigner objects. I I see what
you did there. Mistakes can make movies
charming like all of the goofs in Evil
Dead. However, when you have $400
million, I'd say you have a greater
responsibility
to an extent. It's like how where did
all that money go? And you're like,
well, listen, they had to make a come
room. Okay. It was difficult.
Uh, you guys going to cover season two
of Fallout? No. That show is an
abomination. And as far as I'm aware,
people hated season 2 more than one. Who
did hate one? Of course. I imagine that
three will be hated even more again cuz
they can't rely on being a new novel
thing. They have to actually have story.
Man, this show is cancer. I hope you
guys get to watch a film you like after
this. I suggest a deep dive into
Terminator 1 or two because there are
only two. I agree, but three I can
tolerate. Okay, I can tolerate it. All
right,
>> about Salvation.
>> Um, yeah, that one I'm less in favor of.
Not because I think it's the probably
the better film than three, it may be,
but the way that it screws with
continuity annoys me more. I think the
whole like human Terminator hybrid that
was early in design, I remember being
like, "No."
>> Yeah. Mhm.
Um,
Vecca told me I have cancer. God damn
it. Oh, though. Three shouldn't be
forgiven for uh killing Sarah Connor
with cancer. That was mean.
And yet still not the worst thing they
did to her in one of these movies.
Lol. The 8-hour rule lasted all of what?
Two weeks. What do you mean eight hour
rule? Is it what? Wait, what eight hour?
I thought it was like a 4ish hour rule
we're trying to bring in on on EAP. Not
an eight hour.
eight hour episodes plus well this one
was like 11 I think plus another hour on
top because we did uh the Kathleen
Kennedy stuff so
you know craziness watch the Duffers
create another unexplained dimension for
the new series
well yeah that's that is what they did
right it was the it was the abyss I
think it was called above the upside
down
>> yeah that was the new one I mean they
would lie to you and tell you that they
intended it right from the beginning but
they didn't and we know they didn't
because they went and George Lucas the
ending of season
two, I think. Is that the one where you
see the um the mind flare above the
school? I think I'm getting this one
right. It might be season one. There's a
bit where like the first time you see it
and it's like all forky red lightning,
but then they've clearly decided that
the abyss needs to be yellow and then
they went back and changed that to
yellow to make it seem like it was in
the abyss or they've done something like
that which kind of you can date the
moment they decided that the abyss was a
thing. was not the plan from the
beginning,
>> obviously.
>> Yeah. And why did they have to be that
age group? Why not grab some dementia
patients if he's looking for weak minds?
>> I don't know.
>> Because kids have special powers and
we're just going to say that and we're
not going to explore it or explain it in
any way.
>> They got an imagination.
There's literally a mental institution
in Hawkins. You'd think that's where
he'd go for a first uh first for weak
minds. No, it's not the right kind of
weakness. As you see,
uh, EAP movies Roland Damrich, uh, arc
is going to be epic. Do it. We might. I
can see that happening.
>> That could be fun.
>> The only way to stop Vakna is to force
her to do a 100% completion of the PS4
version of Lord of Ring without updating
the game. Oh, is there a is there a if
you buy the the physical copy and you
play it offline, is that like is that
even more glitchy? That That sounds like
fun. A lot of people, but it sounds a
lot more awkward to be able to fetch
that ability.
Do y'all think orphans hate playing
dodgeball because no one misses them?
Oh,
yes. Guys, I don't like short man. I
like long man. Oh, we we we we get to we
we we we just cut a long in half. So,
it's still long. It's just two pieces of
long. You would have gone jumped in the
80s and nobody would have cared uh
nobody would care in the 2020s. That's
what VCNA showed him. Our timeline.
Oh, this is about the Have we got to the
gay scene? I think Mike would select the
give head option in. Do you remember
that meme? Give head. [laughter]
Uh they never have the balls to have
anyone disapprove of Will, even a
little, even of his timing. No one uh
even needs time to process it. No, of
course. It's it's an angle that they
were never going to be willing to ever
portray.
Uh even though they could probably use
that to better make some points about
the things they're trying to get points
for instead of just
>> Yeah, but they're not interested. It's
just it's because I mean it is it is a
example of the Duffer brothers are like
it's better if it's just everybody's
super happy and immediately on board
with it compared to like the unfortunate
reality of the situation especially in
the 80s which is there's probably a few
people in that room who really don't
like it. Um, and it's actually
worthwhile for your art to reflect that
because it's more it makes it more
useful to real human beings,
>> you know, like like what if what if I
imagine what would the Duffer brothers
think if they're like someone watched
that scene and assumed that they would
be in a situation where if they oh god
damn it, my alarm's going it's so early.
My alarm is going off. Um, if somebody
watched that scene and they were like,
I'm going to come out and then they did
and it went really badly for them. Like
it it it alienated them. It caused
problems for them. Like I wonder what
the Duffer brothers would think about
that.
>> Nothing. They didn't think about it in
the first place. I mean, they even had
it where
>> so obviously Vecna connects to Will
again and then offscreen cuz Will
recounts this this experience and he
says Vecna showed me like these terrible
things, the worst things that could ever
possibly happen if I did this. And the
worst thing that apparently Vecna showed
him was that oh yeah, we just grow up
and grow apart I guess vaguely. So like
even the villain who's trying to
traumatize this kid into not doing this
cannot imagine a state of affairs in
which there are any negative
consequences beyond just growing up.
It's so lame,
>> horrifying.
>> You know, if art imitates life or it
should do that to some extent, then I
don't know, man. For your art to be
useful, it needs to speak to reality.
And what you created is like fanciful.
>> It's not it's not real. Uh and it's not
useful to people. And I don't know that
it would be of any consolation to
anybody who was in a situation where
they're like, "Oh, cool, bro, but like
in my circumstance, it wouldn't go that
well, you know? Like, it's just it's
just [ __ ] really."
Half this season has just raised one
question. Can't I just be watching live
action One Piece? You can. You can
indeed do that. This is my second
favorite way to defeat Vikner. Who are
the kids stalling? Let's defeat Vikma
now. Why is it someone called him Velma?
Uh, the sooner the Stranger Things squad
defeat Velma, the better. Can the
Stranger Things squad please kill Veina
now? I think the these these are good
names. The soldiers are cool, but please
defeat Vincent now. Why does the
thumbnail say Hitler dead? Oh.
[laughter]
Um, that's that's a the the meme for I
think uh in the in the you know the
newspaper Hitler dead like meme is when
it's like announcing the departure of
certain hated media people like Kathleen
Kennedy people post that instead. I
think I saw a tweet that had it and I
thought it was hilarious.
Um though the reality is folks you
should never have expected that would
make Star Wars any better.
>> Nope.
Um, I think there's going to be a bit of
a thought as time goes on about exactly
what Kathleen Kennedy's role was because
Andor's always the one that stands out
as like how did she allow something
really good to happen then?
>> And it's not to say that she's in any
way talented. It's more of a just just
what exactly was she even doing there?
>> Saying yes to things.
>> Yeah,
>> seemingly. Oh, you cut away before we
defeat Vamilia Perez. Why must you turn
this into a stream of lies? Oh, maybe
this is where we split it in half.
>> That's um that movie like existed and it
it had like a real shot at taking home
like the biggest prize of all of the
Academy Awards
>> until
>> it's a very funny movie.
>> Yeah.
>> All I know is that song a horrible
horrible song.
>> The the Yeah. Yeah. Peter still vagina.
>> What the [ __ ]
[laughter]
>> Well, [snorts] also that like lots of
people in Mexico like despise that
movie.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, rightly so, cuz the there are no
Mexicans in it. It's set in Mexico.
There are no Mexicans. And the director
explained this as saying there was a
lack of local talent in all of Mexico.
>> And that's um why would you there was a
lack of local Sorry.
>> Yes. I mean for added context, the
director is French, so you know there
were certain
>> attitudes shot in France. It wasn't shot
in Mexico either, was it?
>> I think it was a lot of it was shot in
Mexico.
>> Oh, was it? Okay.
>> I think so.
>> I don't know why, but I feel like I've
heard that it definitely wasn't. Now I
need to know.
Let's find out. Not that it actually
matters that much, but
>> Oh, was that maybe that was the reason?
No, it wasn't shot in Mexico because of
the lack of local talent. That might
have been the reason. It's it's just um
uh apparently yeah it was originally
meant to be shot on location in Mexico
but it was moved to a studio near Paris
>> and that was in in accordance with the
wishes of the director.
>> The interior scenes included a
reconstruction of an authentic Mexican
backdrop. [laughter]
>> Yeah. So it was shot in France.
There you go.
It feels like forever ago when you last
talked about Stranger Things. It's been
ages. Welcome back after all these
years. Of course. Wait, so we get to
defeat Viven or No, we nearly defeat
Viven, I think, at this point. How far
into the episode do we defeat Victoria?
Let's say an hour, maybe two. If they
could fit Walt's entire ego into New
Mexico, certainly the Duffer brothers
could fit the mind flare in there, too.
Clearly not. Nope. Vea kind of forgot
about the Iron Fleet. [laughter]
The prior super chat spelled Velma's
name wrong. True. Steve took a V card,
so he wins by default. Oh, we're at that
scene, are we? They should have stuck to
the Eldrich horror of the first few
seasons.
Well, it makes no difference.
>> One, but you know,
>> like they they they can't handle any of
it anyway. I genuinely want to know, how
do we save Star Wars at this point? Wait
for a George buyback. Pray to glitter.
I'm tired, boss. So tired. It's There's
no way George is buying it back. That's
not going to happen.
>> No, he's too old
>> to begin the training again.
>> First step towards saving it, you got to
get rid of Fona. He can't He can't be a
part of it. Uh so we're [ __ ] for a
long time. I'm afraid. There's nothing
reasonable in terms of how it could be
saved right now.
>> Maybe if Star Fighter comes out and
bombs, then Fon would have kicked off
with two bad movies and he might get a
third. And then if it bombs again, they
might say, "Right, we burned so many
years keeping Kathleen Kennedy in charge
long after her time should have ended.
We're not going to make that mistake
again." They might try and course
correct more quickly with Fona. Um, but
it's still we're talking years and
that's just getting rid of a problem.
It's not actually fixing or doing
anything positive to restore what was
broken. And there's this this horrible
idea that we'll eventually find out that
they take Fabro on as the new creative
head and he says like I'm not going to
be making any of it but I will be you
know the Kathn Kennedy position. You'll
be like oh god.
>> So you know and it's like so what needs
to happen is like whatever needs to
happen is so unlikely that uh it's
barely entertainable but you may just
get lucky at some point and we may end
up with something that's okay that might
happen
>> by accident. Yeah, I genuinely want to
know how Oh, wait. Sorry. Pretty much
the Black Ops 7 final boss. Was that in
that crazy dream world thing? What was
the Black Ops 7 final boss?
>> Well, you remember there was that one
where it's it's got [ __ ] uh Merl and
he's like 20 ft tall or something like
>> is that the final boss?
>> I don't know if it's the final boss. I
don't know what the final boss of that
game is, but that's the only boss battle
I'm aware of from uh from Black Ops 7.
>> Fair enough.
very much feels like, yeah, that shark
has uh long since been jumped. We're in
a we're in a different realm now.
Uh Steve should have gone all The Last
of Us 2 on Vekna. Yeah, man. With the
baseball bat. We would have loved that.
Being great.
Uh Mhler, other lads. Hello. Quick
question. I'm very curious what the
analytics on a 17-hour video are. 17
hours and 1 million views. What? Well, I
I don't know if I don't think it means
like a million people saw the 17 hours.
I I assume a view Do we even know what a
view counts as these days? Is it like
half an hour plus or or Well, it
wouldn't be for 5 minutes plus. I have
no idea.
>> I don't know if it's based either.
>> Qualifying it down. You have to cuz some
places will like streaming services will
count it as just 30 seconds.
>> Um but I guess for YouTube's purposes it
would have to be longer, but then
YouTube then doesn't count ad block
views as views sometimes now. So, you
don't actually know. It's almost a
meaningless statistic. It's It's an
annoying one. It would be nice to know
what it counts as, but I don't think
they will ever tell us.
>> Yeah, that would reveal too much. Don't
want YouTubers to have any sense of what
the [ __ ] is going on.
Also, stop being lame and watch the dub
of Backstroke of the West after you find
someone who saved it as it's long since
been taken down and now only a few
clips. Make your own dub. I don't know.
Who can say if such a thing will ever be
seen by us?
What if they gave Terry Ives Vecnner's
blood and then isn't she a loose end for
the military to recreate the physics?
>> Oh yeah, you might be right there. Terry
Ives is still around and she must have
had a blood transfusion cuz that's how
this plan works. That's how Eleven was
born.
>> So she can actually Yeah. Well, unless I
mean does she run out of the blood? I
think they just forgot about Terry Ives.
>> That's Yeah, there you go.
Uh, Duffer brothers played 4D chess. She
never existed in the first place and
Dustin fooled everybody, but planned on
her never being talked about again.
Genius. Steve lacked Steve lack of
change and thus continued happiness is
well represented by him being the only
one to continue to rock his 80s hair.
Steve survived. That's all that matters.
Though they did bait his death pretty
hard.
Uh,
>> Fringy, I'm disappointed.
Oh, about what?
>> I don't know. Maybe the show. That's
probably it. Oh,
>> yeah. No, it's it is disappointing.
>> Have you seen the Monsters Inc. sequel
series Monsters at Work? I saw season
one and it sucked. Barely any Sully and
Mike and laughing is not greater than
scaring. What? In the shows?
>> Well, I'm watching that show. No, but
>> Well, no, I haven't seen it. I don't
plan to see it either. But laughing is
canonically five times more uh
>> more effective. Yeah.
>> And it gives other monsters a chance to
work their magic, you know.
>> Also, can we get a Pixar arc soon? That
would be nice. Maybe you got you got Toy
Story 5.
Yeah.
>> I'm excited.
>> We talked about one and two.
>> We did. And three. And four.
>> And we got a video on four. Look at
that. That's all you need. Um, I'm
excited for the spin-off series Weirder
Stuff. Yeah, sure. I think everyone is.
Um, these guys have the egos the size of
the sun. Now I understand why they spend
12 hours on one scene. I don't know if
you're talking about the Duffers or us,
but uh, that's just the fun of messages,
I suppose. Did the Stranger Things squad
defeat Wilson yet? You can only hope.
Never mind. It seems the Stranger Squad
defeated Wilmer. I'd just like to voice
my support for some limited EFAP
coverage of a few favorite Simpsons
episodes, at least for rag's sake.
Who knows what the future may hold on
that front as well. Boro went real quiet
when Sha Levy came up. It's a it's a
horrible realization for a lot of people
when they very much enjoy some of the
stuff that he's made because they're
like, "Oh, he's he did that, but he's
that." And it's like, listen, it makes
sense when you think about it, okay?
He doesn't have he doesn't express
himself conventionally.
Um, you guys heard John Reddit himself
made a video. I think this might be
about that Reddit mod guy. Oh, that that
was very funny. Lawn Chevy. Compare this
to Peter Jackson's funny little
ramblings that have been playing before
the 25th anniversary re-releases of Lord
of the Rings. You can feel his fondness
for the craft and his memories of the
project.
Well, it's a masterclass. Lord of the
Rings. A lot of people cite it's both
the, you know, execution and the
production behind the scenes for, you
know, how to do everything at this
point. Basically, Stuckman's favorite
movies are usually top 10 best films of
all time, searches, and someone insulted
him in the past with this statement.
Everything about Stuckman is is
passionless and conventional, so it's
not a surprise really. Yeah, you get the
sense he has the opinions he thinks a
good film critic is supposed to have. So
when we went through those entries from
his book and it's like he doesn't really
seem to understand any of the movies
that he's put in his book, but every
movie in the book is exactly what you
would expect to be in the book.
>> Uh unironically, Robocop is my favorite
movie. That's fair. Good movie, man.
>> It's a really cool movie.
Uh, The Greasy Strangler is my favorite
film. What does that say about me? I
don't know,
but someone will find out someday. What
is everyone's favorite film? I know
Moses is the prestige. Fringy, is it
Wall-E for you? Rag Splatoon.
Wall-ally is like really competitive for
uh for for the uh potential number one
slot. The reality is is that my my my
favorite movies is kind of like a fluid
collection. Yep.
>> Saving Private Ryan is there. hot fuzzes
up there. It's uh it's it sort of, you
know, oscillates depending on depending
on how I'm feeling that day, like which
one will ultimately claim the number one
spot.
>> I just I do not even have a number one
spot. It's pointless and futile.
>> What about uh just a few that could
maybe be competitive?
>> All the usual boring conventional ones.
Fellowship of the Ring, Empire Strikes
Back, New Hope, uh Jaws, very good
movie, [ __ ] um etc., etc., etc.
>> Terminator 2. Yep. Terminator one.
Alien. Aliens.
>> Anything unconventional? You just got
done talking about how Chris Stuckman's
conventional. So, ha, you're a hypocrite
now.
>> Yes, but I don't I don't write books
talking about how amazing hours of
[laughter] fun. Um, I I came up with
nobody for the top 10 movies of last
year. I'm going to stick that on the
list. I think that's a really
>> Yeah,
>> good shout.
Uh, shout out to Nutsa, who I feel
really found in these last few episodes
and felt to me much more confident and
vocal in what she wants to say. You
know, it's just a matter of letting
everyone know gradually that they got to
barge in with us a little bit and once
once they, you know, feel nice and
comfortable with it, you get to hear all
kinds of wacky things. She's a she's a
great guest for Ephab.
There's crazy crap ton of bull crab and
you get an ounce of quality. I assume
they're talking about Stranger Things.
Uh, which, yeah, you know, I guess the
defense that it's not fair to judge plot
holes because it's for kids is annoying.
Why shouldn't they be cohesive? Kids do
pick up on details, separating movies
like Toy Story and Minecraft.
>> Yeah.
>> Yep.
>> They certainly do.
>> Every uh every film of every genre and
[ __ ] tone and uh particular
[clears throat] audience demographic, it
has like prepared defenses. And that's
just one that always comes up for any
movie that's uh I guess [ __ ] 12A or
below.
>> Arguments put forth by adults though,
not by the kids themselves.
>> H curious. Thanks for the long fap, you
mad lads and less. No problem. Would
Vigma die from playing Merton Prime 4?
H
I uh I think he might like it because
it's awful and he's awful. That's that's
how I connect these things. Uh I
literally just watched the entire
extended Two Towers in cinema and you
guys are still here. [ __ ] legendary
to be fair. I know that sounds like it's
crazy, but I mean what what is that? 4
hours
>> something like that.
>> Which, you know, that makes sense. We
would still be here. Make man long
again. That was a particularly long
stream though, so you're all good on
that front. Um, which I suppose takes us
to our Pokemon's
uh the Pokemon entries. So, the first
one is 368,
which as far as I can see here is
described as a Gorbis, which what a
name. Um, the South Sea Pokémon
introduced in generation 3 is a pure
water type Pokémon. And while it has an
elegant pink mermaidlike appearance, its
Pokédex entries reveal a cruel nature.
It uses its thin pointed mouth to insert
into prey and drain their bodily fluids.
>> Oh, so like a Yeah. So an underwater
mosquito
>> and it's called
it's complaining to HR.
>> Yeah.
>> Face and that look.
>> It's a bit deceptive in terms of like
this is the most horrifying thing in the
in the ocean potentially. Well, I think
I'm thinking that because of the name,
Gorbis. You know, you just expect
something a bit more uh aggressive.
>> Well, yeah, the fact that you've got
gore in the name.
>> Yes.
Uh then we have 369, Reicanth, a dual
type water rock Pokemon first introduced
in generation 3, known as the longevity
Pokemon. It is famously based on the
real world coalanth, a prehistoric fish
once thought to be extinct. And here he
is.
>> Hi. He looks like he's sleeping.
>> Yeah, he looks chill. Deep Sea. Boring.
Search your deck for a trainer card.
Reveal it and put into your hand, then
shuffle your deck. Oh, boring as in like
drill, right? Not boring as in he's
>> I mean, it could be a really boring move
to play. [laughter] I don't know.
>> Well, yeah, fair enough. And 370,
which is a love disc. Love disc live in
shallow seas in the tropics. This
heart-shaped Pokemon earned its name by
swimming after couples it spotted in the
ocean's waves.
Seems a little bit uninspired, doesn't
it?
>> I remember that one.
>> Yeah, I remember.
>> Boring.
>> Is a disc. It looks like a hot love
disc. Like, all right. [laughter]
>> Got it.
>> You're
>> How much money will we make from this?
Millions of dollars.
alone has probably made over a million
dollars in money in some shape or form.
>> Yeah. Then we have the extinct animals.
So in no Inoseramis
uh this one's confusing. I think this is
the largest fossil ever found of of a
creature that recent or extinct
creature. So
>> really
>> at least that's what I could be wrong.
It's like a mollisk.
>> And what is that meant to be? Oh, okay.
I was about to ask,
>> but uh hey, fair enough. Of course. Then
we have the castasteridis.
Uh biggest beaver you've ever laid eyes
on. I'm sure I pronounced that
perfectly, by the way.
>> Oh, yes.
>> Look at him. [laughter]
>> Imagine him coming coming at you.
>> Not preferable. Oh god.
Uh, and then we have the beast of Lysoo,
the mysterious monstrous amphibian. This
is a rendition of such a creature.
>> Lots of wonderful little critters in the
world, aren't there? Uh, then we have
our Lego pieces. The first is the
demogorgan, naturally. And look at him.
He deserved a better TV show.
>> I like that they have him holding the
claws to match, you know, like in the
regular hands turn into claw hands.
>> Yeah,
>> that's fun. And uh plenty of design
choices there that work out quite well.
Lego is fun. Uh actually a hat that goes
over a normal head. The normal head is
printed to look like the closed mouth.
So the So he's got a normal head and
then the the flowery part I guess is uh
like like
>> in front of it like a hat. Okay. Oh, I
think that makes sense actually now. I
think I can see that. That's clever.
>> They have a lot of like clever
solutions, don't they?
>> It's like the Lego man is cosplaying
himself, you know, like [laughter]
he's kind of cosplaying.
So then we have um
what how is this described here? So is
the intellect devourer from the actual
mind flare hollow middle so it can go on
a guy's head. See it'll be the alien
conquest clinger. So what it looks like
um
>> the
>> this is the intellect devourer
>> and that is from
>> Lego
the they they're saying it's from actual
mind flare. So I guess this is inspired
by the the D&D mind flare.
>> But yeah, fair enough. I suppose
I like that it' be a little brain hat.
It's kind of like um an extended family
of head crabs and face huggers or
something. I suppose
can't go wrong with all of them. Uh so
then this one doesn't have a description
attached as they often do. I suppose the
this one's somewhat self-explanatory.
Uh you have you know like um regular
legs. These are thorn legs. So you
>> like you can create
>> reverse hinged. Yeah, like you'd use
these for Mr. Tumness presumably.
>> Ah, right. I see. Yeah.
>> Um, gorgeous.
And then we have
uh the Lego piece of the day. This is
Does this even work? Is they're calling
it Lego piece of the day is Duplo brick.
Two times the height and width of a
normal brick. Technically compatible and
used in some large Legoland statues.
All right. Well, the results here aren't
helping too much. I guess cuz I can't
narrow this down, but this is what I've
got. I guess you can involve Duplo in
your um your approach with a Lego
and the Duplo bricks are a bit
different, but some of them fit and
maybe you create some marvelous
masterpieces with gaps that need to be
filled by Duplo. Who can say?
Um anyway, [clears throat]
that moves us to our Warhammers. Uh
well, that was funny. So, the first one
will be the katan shard of the
nightbringer shard of death. That is the
the model that we're looking at today.
Uh if I can just find it. Oh,
interesting. Oh, this would be one that
if I was super into Warhammer could very
likely get a statue of. Look at him.
>> Oh, yeah. That's cool. Yeah, that's
really cool. That is a
feels like a techno reaper or something.
I like the cape.
The way it's like glitching out or
pixelating.
>> Yeah,
>> he's cool and spooky. There's uh
Drinker's been saying he's been getting
into Warhammer recently, reading a lot
of it. I was like, you have to let me
know if it's uh because isn't it just
like an immense amount of lore? It's
multimedia like crazy.
>> I believe so.
Oh, you know, lots to get into, I
suppose, which is just good for anybody
who's liking it. Uh, guys, things are
pretty strange, huh? Genuine Stranger
Things dialogue. Probably Warhammer
model of the whenever Hiron Blackheart
2026.
Remember Heron Blackheart? He's back
with a silly face. So, this is this is
our guy Hon Blackheart
if it decides to load. Oh, here we go.
Yep.
>> That's a bit edgy.
>> Look at him. Well, it's funny. We just
got done with the [ __ ] Reaper and
it's like, "Oh, so this one's edgy." And
I'm like, "Yeah, but I guess when you're
the when you do like a Reaper adjacent
thing, you get to be a bit edgy, right?
Just inherently.
Otherwise, you're not portraying him as
reaper-ish." But this guy, you know,
look at his little goblin pet. He's He's
probably pretty chill. [laughter]
>> Nice little skull on the floor, skull on
top. They like their skulls in
Warhammer.
Symbolic of many, many, many, many a
thing. Uh, which wraps us up. So, thank
you all very much for your messages. We
appreciate it. And we shall see you for
the next wonderful TV show that
collapses miserably, possibly called The
Boys. [laughter] Who could say? But for
now, we say goodbye to Pip. Cheerio.
Bye. See you.
