EFAP Mini - Catchin' up on EFAP #364 & #365 - Wake Up Dead Man & Avatar: Fire & Ash
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The latest episode of EFAP Mini dives deep into recent major film releases, specifically focusing on *Avatar: Fire & Ash* and the upcoming *Wake Up Dead Man*, while offering sharp critiques of other pop culture phenomena. The hosts express strong dissatisfaction with Rian Johnson's *Knives Out* trilogy, dismissing it as culturally insignificant compared to Cameron's work, and extend this criticism to modern gaming titles like the inconsistent character designs in Sonic games and a disappointing LEGO Batman game plagued by poor dialogue. They also touch upon an awful Assassin's Creed film and debate whether Disney should be excluded from year-end rankings entirely, arguing that ignoring such a massive industry influence skews public perception despite its dominance over current media trends.
A significant portion of the discussion centers on *Avatar*, where the hosts analyze complex lore points including animal enslavement via neural links and James Cameron's handling of death within Na'vi culture. They speculate that Eywa functions less as a benevolent deity and more as a parasitic hive-mind, while also addressing controversial fan interpretations regarding the "hair connection" between characters versus telepathic mating bonds. The conversation extends to character arcs in both *Avatar* and Spider-Man stories; Jake Sully is viewed effectively as a traitor for his alliance with humans, whereas Quaritch evolves into an anti-hero despite being preferred by some hosts as a true antagonist. Similarly, the group pities Spider-Man's abusive backstory but critiques writing choices that make him overly forgiving after near-death experiences at the hands of protagonists they favor.
Beyond specific film and game analysis, the segment covers various lighter topics such as potential mergers between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix or Paramount, recommendations for shows like *The Amazing Digital Circus* and *Claus*, and trivia about ancient sausages and extinct animals including the Picasso moth and bulldogfish. The hosts also address reception disparities in games like *Slay the Spire 2*, which suffered due to a negative Chinese version release, and express excitement over extended cuts of *Lord of the Rings*. They conclude their critique by labeling modern cinema as "feelies"—shallow emotional stimuli lacking substance—and share humorous anecdotes about theater experiences before signing off with holiday greetings to their audience.

Hello everybody. Welcome to EFAP 364 and
5 super chat catch up where we talk
about movies, big releases that came
out, huge even. This will be like Avatar
3. Wow, everyone crazy for that one. And
then the other huge one, Wake Up Dead
Man, which
kind of a
Many people talked about that one. It
was kind of crazy. Seems like the
maybe the end of the Knives Out
franchise, who knows? Or maybe not.
Maybe we'll get a fourth one, who can
say? Which as we said was ironic because
it was probably the best of the three. I
would say even definitely.
>> [laughter]
>> But what can you do? He's getting
better, see? You just got to give him a
chance.
Come on, Ryan.
>> Well, it's not getting I don't know that
you can say it's getting better cuz
Glass Onion is the worst.
>> Yeah, and it was before.
>> Yeah, but before that was a Knives Out,
which was better than Glass Onion.
>> So he got worse and now he's gone
better.
>> I'm saying there's no consistent trend.
>> I'm saying there is a consistent trend,
it's just short.
And who knows what happens next.
Was it Was it better or worse that he
went from TLJ to Knives Out?
>> I'm not sure. They're both really
horrible.
>> Yeah.
Different flavors of horrible.
>> Uh imagine a black guy coming up to Neo
Cortex and asking him what the giant N
stands for.
Okay, you just said Neo Cortex.
>> Yeah, and then he he'd say yeah, Neo.
>> You'd be like, all right.
And then they'd they'd hang out or
something.
Globox is Rayman's sidekick. Between him
and Tails, whose design do you prefer?
>> Uh
>> Globox.
>> Is that
>> I'm not familiar.
>> Is that the blue guy?
>> Um oh, it's this dude.
Which person quick.
>> No, yeah. I'm uh I'm way more in favor
of
Yeah, I mean
I don't I This shouldn't be a hot take,
but like Sonic character designs are
really generic.
Um they're fine, but like classic I way
more would go to bat for, but the modern
ones like yeah, whatever. But yeah, this
fella, particularly in the 2D art style,
he's very
Yeah, see? Look at that. That's a great
design.
>> Yeah, I prefer global
>> Cool Tails.
>> I don't It's You know, I like The thing
is is that I I'm much more fond of the
the classic Sonic designs, but I mean
Yeah, in terms of the modern one, it's
just like yeah, you know, it's fine. I
mean, yeah, he's a fox, he's got two
tails. Yep.
>> Uh will you guys ever cover Fallout
season 2? No.
Nah.
I'd vowed I wouldn't after season 1, and
I stuck to it.
In Welcome to Derry, it itself is very
entertaining to watch both when a clown
or when something else. That story
though. Yeah, I've heard it's not worth
seeing.
Cuz of the story, of course.
Uh Rayman is finally getting a new AAA
game as announced for his 30th. I hope
it succeeds. Please oh let Please let it
succeed.
>> Yeah, but it's a bit unfortunate cuz if
if what they were talking about is what
we've
has been announced, which is a remake of
Rayman Legends. I'm kind of like not
Like that Rayman Legends a great game,
but I don't like
I don't like that the art style is
getting turned into like a 3D art style.
Mhm. Kind of bothers me. Like Rayman
Leg- Rayman Legends like looks great.
Um I way prefer the art style of that
compared to like putting it in a 3D sort
of thing.
I guess I'll take it, you know, like if
over
You know, I guess yeah, I guess I'll
take it but um
>> Um
Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight
looks like it could be another solid
Lego Batman game. Also hope it's a fun
change of pace for you lads to stream.
Well, I did stream it and I was
immensely disappointed because it's it's
not like the Lego Batman games from
before and it did not play as an
entertaining Arkham-like to me either.
The dialogue was extremely annoying. Uh
But hey, there's a supercut out on the
Moola channel. If you want to see what I
thought of it and apologies if uh
maybe you you loved it. You don't quite
it was you know,
it's just it wasn't it wasn't it wasn't
for me. Much like the Skywalker Saga was
not for me and I'm starting to realize I
don't think I'm going to get a Lego game
ever again that I like.
Uh
>> Probably not.
>> Yeah.
Uh when judging a year of film, we
should ignore Disney and superhero
sludge because it'll be like judging a
classroom full of smart children but
bringing the average grade down because
one child is super dumb. Be honest,
judging the class.
>> Yeah. It is judging the class and also
you are underestimating how many of the
dumb kids there are like in terms of
>> Well, and how many of them are Disney?
It's not one dumb kid. It's like in this
case most of the kids in the class are
Disney or superhero.
>> Yeah, that's my point though.
There's a lot of dumb kids that aren't
even Disney.
>> Also that, yeah.
>> Yeah, I don't Yeah, like I don't know
why we talk about it as if it's strictly
Disney, which Disney again represents
over 40% of the American film industry.
You can't ignore them.
They're like [laughter] and animated of
course it's going to it's going to
become smaller in terms of the total
ownership of these uh
you know.
>> It's not even fair because like you
know, we're of course comparing Disney
used to be a name attached to films that
were amazing. So
>> Yeah.
>> The strength of all years involves
Disney. So, it's just like the the
strength of
>> Like I I don't know what to say. Like
you have to accept that like that Of
course they're a part of the
conversation about any year. Of course
they're a part of the conversation about
the state of movies in general. It would
be weird to pretend that they don't
exist when they are the biggest and most
influential of all of these companies.
>> The Last of Us Two remastered one an
award, so did season two.
A
>> Well, yeah, I think season two got
nominated for Emmys
cuz it's part of the club.
Season three won't though.
>> Uh is Wake Up Dead Man better or worse
than Metroid Prime 4?
Uh um
>> comparison.
>> Yeah,
yeah, it's almost like you need a
different question. Like which one would
I
do again? Then it's like it's obviously
going to be
>> get through Wake Up Dead Man a lot
quicker. So, yeah, but it doesn't feel
like a Like I really very much dislike
the kinds of films that Rian Johnson
makes.
>> Yeah.
>> Not to say that I obviously don't
dislike Metroid Prime 4 cuz I do
intensely.
Um but Rian Johnson's films are a
particular kind of insufferable that's a
bit tough to to to deal with.
>> The Knives Out universe has less
cultural impact than the Avatar movies.
You may not like it, but you know I'm
right.
I mean
>> Yeah, probably. People say that they
think they're great and they love Benoit
Blanc, but like it doesn't reflect in
they don't basically. They're kind of
lying.
>> I can't wait for this movie to come out,
get acclaimed, to be immediately
forgotten, and leave no cultural
footprint again. And it's funny cuz you
don't even know if they're talking about
Wake Up Dead Man or Avatar.
>> But it happened to both movies.
>> To both movies.
Let's not forget that Rian Johnson made
a character that throws up when she
tells lies. Yep.
Extremely stupid.
>> In that acclaimed movie called Knives
Out.
>> It's disgusting how the AI-generated ass
onion trilogy held up as quality
whodunits. Check out Kid Detective for a
modern a good modern mystery movie. I've
seen Kid Detective.
>> is good.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, that was a good movie. That was
kind of cool.
Surprisingly good.
>> Uh want to see actual conflict based on
characters having different flaws and
perspectives? Watch Amazing Digital
Circus, also high-ranked. Well, well.
>> I mean just
that's my wild theory.
>> But yeah, sure.
>> [laughter]
>> You know, but yeah, that's another
recommendation to add to the list.
>> Merry Christmas, gentlemen. Got 10
minutes into this movie before I gave up
and went back to rewatching Breaking Bad
for the 10th time. I'll count on you
boys to fill me in on what I missed out
on. Ugh.
God.
You know, like we said, it's the best of
the three, but it's still so garbage. So
much dumb [ __ ] in that movie.
Thankfully, Jeffrey Wright's filmography
wasn't tainted by this film because he
was filled in for by his twin brother,
Jeffrey Wrong. A noble sacrifice.
Yeah, he was in it briefly, Jeffrey
Wright. He's like a priest or something,
right?
>> Yeah, that's right. Yeah, I totally
forgot that.
>> Hug did this.
Uh Hugh did this is such a pain in the
ass stupid payoff.
>> No.
>> [laughter]
>> I believe you said Eef should have
covered Toy Story before the fifth one.
Can it start a Pixar arc? I I think
breakdowns would be more substantive
than Eef had movies.
Well, I mean, inherently we get to talk
in more detail than we would in an Eef
had movies, but simultaneously Eef had
movies get hyper-edited and you get
clips and stuff, so it's
different sort of thing, but
uh there wasn't time to do Toy Story 1
before 5. Uh
>> New.
>> But you know, doesn't mean that we won't
someday check out the golden era.
Assassin's Creed movie is awful. He's
literally hooded up to a Palpatine
machine, uh hooked up, sorry, to a
Palpatine machine to go back to the
past. In the final fight, he fights
while hooded up to the machine. I keep
saying hooded up.
>> Well, yeah, no. It's
uh I know the hooked up you mean, right?
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, high regs.
>> No, I I know that in that movie like the
animus isn't like a little thing that he
lays in. It's like this big contraption
that has him like jumping around and
doing flips and [ __ ] like while attached
to a robotic arm.
Um
>> Hm.
>> But, I mean, you know, it's But, hey,
that Assassin's Creed television show on
Netflix by the showrunner that did Halo
is season two is yeah, man.
Yeah. I mean, that series just has
totally lost like whatever was cool
about that series is dead at this point.
It's gone.
Um
I regs, why do you own a dog?
I D O and a horse I D
Uh this is like come out weird. Like
there's symbols and [ __ ] that I don't
understand here.
Uh
I don't think he has a dog, though.
But, he might do. Actually, I I don't
actually know for sure. And does he
certainly buy these days? Who knows?
Uh if he if you give the answer I
suspect, shame on you, doggo.
As to whether he has a dog?
I mean, I almost hope everyone has a has
a pet that they love and loves them
back.
Is it as bad as Glass Onion, the movie
that's dumb on purpose and expects
people to clap because of it?
No, it's not as bad as Glass Onion.
But, it is dumb on purpose in some ways.
>> are.
>> It'd be hard to be worse than Glass
Onion. That's a tough one.
>> Love all you guys. Have you seen Amazing
Digital Circus? Also, high regs.
I haven't.
And apparently, we should.
Ever seen a show use popular fan
theories as a chain to jerk the audience
around? I have in The Amazing Digital
Circus. Also, high regs. Oh.
That doesn't sound like a great thing,
though.
>> Mhm.
>> Technically, a lot of major popular
shows do that.
But, uh
yeah. Shout out to blessed Pitman. His
producer's dad is sadly terminal, which
has kept him away from videos, but he's
back and gayer than ever.
He does uh he does make some videos here
and there, and I obviously hope he's
doing well.
Um bake up bread man.
Not quite the title of the movie, but
close enough. Hail fappers, I have a
Christmas movie to recommend. It is a 2D
animated film called Claus on Netflix.
Yeah, I need to see that. Uh I'll remind
myself as well.
>> good.
>> I hold it up to the same level as Lilo
and Stitch and Emperor's New Groove. I
recommend it to all of you and rags
especially. All right.
Um
Okay, so you got we we we we both got to
do the line, which is funny cuz I don't
think I need I'll need to to give you
the the text, but uh
Oh, would you shut the [ __ ] up, woman? I
was down in the bloody mines for 14
hours today.
>> Did you tell me to shut up?
>> They Well, they want you to do the first
bit as well.
>> All right.
>> Oh, would you shut the [ __ ] up, woman? I
was down in the bloody mines for 14
hours today.
>> [laughter]
>> That [ __ ] is so [ __ ] funny.
>> Yeah.
I can do and I'm trying to watch the
bloody television.
>> [laughter]
>> Do you do you think I know this
reference? What's this from?
>> Smiling Friends.
>> Oh, see now I I
That's something I need to That's
something I need to see. I've seen a
couple of episodes. I've not seen much.
>> Honestly, I almost don't want you to not
so that when we get a chance, maybe we
could do some kind of like thing for it
the first time watching it cuz that show
is so [ __ ] funny.
>> Okay.
>> Question, Molar, what are your thoughts
on cheese? I'm a big fan of cheese. It's
uh I wish it didn't taste so good while
also being so calorie dense. What a what
a what an [ __ ] that cheese is, but
certainly a tasty daisy.
>> You need to get turned into wire rabbit
so that instead of cheese it becomes a
about vegetables.
>> Yeah, there you go.
Um, what is Rags' favorite color?
Oh, I think he's answered that a few
times, but I can't remember what he
said.
Mhm.
Would it be Was it could be yellow? I
don't think so though. I think he's very
in favor of yellow actually.
Uh, Frigid, what's your position on the
war in Ukraine?
>> Uh, it's really bad. It shouldn't It's
It's really bad.
>> And what role do you think the EU and US
should play in the war in Ukraine?
>> Uh, they should help Ukraine.
>> And Platoon, what is your favorite food?
>> Um, sausages.
>> Sausages?
Really?
>> Yes, sausages are amazing.
>> I do like sausages. I just because, you
know,
>> Your favorite guy. Mhm.
>> When it comes to favorite food, I don't
I don't usually have fantastic answers.
I always opt for pizza.
>> Pizza is on the list. I also I'm not a
food person. Maybe that explains the
sausages answer. It's just they go well
with everything and I like them all the
time.
>> It's a British answer even though
sausages are not
What?
My god.
>> Our sausages are famously not very
sausages. I mean, Germany does very good
sausages apparently. Ours are
>> That's what I've heard.
>> like emulsified
fat awful tubes or whatever they are
technically.
>> Gorgeous.
>> I Now I Now I want to know where they
come from. Like I Cuz now I'm
I uh
It It's one of those things where it's
like, mhm, where where do they
Apparently,
it's funny. Wikipedia's got a bit of
history on sausage making.
That um maybe maybe a cotter
>> The one thing you're not supposed to
look into.
>> What?
>> [laughter]
>> How the sausage is made.
>> No, I
No, I mean like where they came from.
>> Yeah.
It's It's a joke. Don't worry about it.
>> Yeah, no I don't Apparently Homer, not
Homer Simpson, Homer Greek Homer
mentioned sausages in the Odyssey.
>> Damn, I wonder if they'll make it into
the Christopher Nolan film.
>> Wait.
>> I wonder Yeah, evidence suggests that
sausages were already popular among the
ancient Greeks and Romans and most
likely with the various tribes occupying
the larger part of Europe.
Yeah, I didn't know cuz I I I was
wondering I was like was that I don't
know why I associated it with Germany.
>> Yes, so do I. I wonder if they
Which Which nation do you most imagine
is like going to be the first one to rip
into a pig's guts, tear out its
intestines, tie the ends together and
cook them? Something about that just
seems German to me and I don't know why.
>> Mhm.
>> Perhaps. I'll have to ask Metal.
But Rags, do you have a doctorate in
canon law? We all do. It's a necessary
part of E-Fap. We got to be a doctor in
canon.
How hasn't seen the film but his biggest
sin is that the title is very similar to
a title of a cool song from Hunt
Showdown.
Mhm.
Also play DDLC dumbos.
Very well.
I never understood the phrase you can't
have your cake and eat it too. If I have
cake, you know damn sure I'm eating it.
Why let it spoil? Well, then you won't
have it.
>> Mhm.
>> Very straightforward
>> [laughter]
>> I guess but fair enough.
Just saw a commercial with Ryan Johnson
on screen and he tells you why you
should see the film. How is Ryan a
selling point?
I don't really think he is.
I don't even know how many people know
of him that well these days.
>> be for some very small depraved people
but there aren't too many of those.
>> Uh
Moller Moller showing his ignorance on
loud bang acid.
Yeah, I'm I'm I'm I'm a little bit naive
on the LBAs. It's true.
A pod racing game with no pod racers?
Well, that sounds
>> Uh I think that there are pod racers in
that pod racing not Well, no, it's not a
pod racing game, but um
>> Galactic
>> Whatever it was that
Yeah, it's just that it's not about pod
racing exclusively. It's got like it's
got like speeders and stuff.
>> It does have but Sebulba is back in it.
Which means like he must be like a
hundred years old. And I'm sure I'm
pretty sure in canon like Duggs is
supposed to live for 75 years. So, he's
actually he's not only outliving most of
his species, but he's still racing at
the top level. So, good on him.
>> He he is the Sonny Hayes of
pod racing.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh for $10 a month you can see Denims be
plenty holy.
I don't know why this is here.
But like okey-dokey.
>> No, thank you.
>> In the Eastern Catholic Church, married
men can be ordained as priests, but I
don't think that would be allowed in the
US.
All righty.
>> Oh, but also I mean, it's not in Wake Up
Dead Man, it's it's not the Eastern
Orthodox Church, it's a Catholic Church,
so
>> Yeah.
I mean, you can go across so they you
can do it in Anglican churches as well,
you can get married. And then the
Catholic Church very briefly, I don't
know if it still does this, but for a
time it started to say, "Well, if you
got married while you were say like a
vicar of an Anglican church and you
decide to move across to the Catholic
Church, we will allow you to keep your
wife." Which is nice of them. But I
don't know if that's still a thing.
>> Uh is this actually the first live I've
witnessed? Maybe. There's something I I
feel like we should mention more. I
realized on both the ends of like there
are people who watch it on my channel
who have no idea that Muller exists. And
then there are people who watch on
Muller who have no idea where we stream
EVE Online.
It was like, "Oh, um
Muller and Mula, those are the two
channels."
That's where we go live, and then where
you can see it on archive, and then a
bunch of other stuff. Cuz some people be
like, "Well, I don't need Bullocks. I
watched them live." It's like, "Oh, we
do a bunch of other stuff on the second
channel as well." Like uh
E for movies, E for TV, uh
you know, the catch-ups and and and
supercuts and stuff. There's There's
just a bunch of stuff.
So, uh
you know,
I I maybe I should mention our episodes
more, but it's in the description at
least.
Uh
Ryan stealing plot from Romancing the
Stone.
He He couldn't have stolen anything from
anybody, okay? What he's making What
he's cooking is is uh is just too bad.
Nobody did that before, you know.
Why didn't the priest drop the diamond
over the Titanic? Hasn't Hadn't it sunk
yet?
Well, you wouldn't want to be
copycatting.
>> I mean,
there's a lot of better ways of getting
rid of it than killing himself by
swallowing it. That's for sure.
>> Happy Christmas, E for Excellent. Have
you ever seen Child's Christmas in
Wales? My father and I watch it every
year for the holidays. Was curious if it
was tradition in your family. No, I
haven't seen that.
And certainly not a tradition, either.
Uh Netflix bought WB. Please God, send
50 Rebel Moons.
>> Well, now it's changed. Now it's
Paramount's trying to go for it, but I
think they're getting I think uh there
are some US states that are trying to
block it from happening.
>> Well, I thought that just cleared. It
may have recently cleared.
>> think it got cleared by the DOJ, but
that there are there are like lawsuits
that are being or you know, attempts to
block it by certain states in America.
So, I don't know what that means in
terms of, you know, what what actually
how it'll actually move forward, but I
mean, I assume it's probably going to
happen and that'll just be fantastic for
the for the uh for the film industry.
Yet more consolidation.
I mean, that's just sort of pick your
poison, right? One way or the other. If
it was Netflix or or Paramount, it's
like either way, it's just bad outcome.
>> I feel like in any better movie, you'd
find out the motivation for the homicide
is that the victim had a Klondike bar
and the murderer wanted it.
I mean, that's more solid, yeah. It's a
bit of a better foundation. Could have
moved from there.
I just realized that in all three knives
out movies, the victim is outlived by
their mother. What are you trying to say
with this, Ryan?
The
Well, the victim is outlived by their
mother.
Well, in the first knives out, the
victim is
[ __ ]
super duper ancient. I don't think he
Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Second one is the
the twin, right?
Am I Am I forgetting things?
>> Yes, twin. Yes, twin.
>> I guess Yeah, their mother would have
lived out there more than likely, but I
I guess, you know, that's just going to
happen if you're in your mid-30s to
whatever, so for a lot of people in
there.
>> one.
>> Uh yeah, third one is
>> The third one.
>> Oh, man, I forgot so much of these
movies. I don't know I don't even know.
It's a but it's it's a potential
connection, except I don't really
understand how the person was Unless
they're saying like cuz there's more
than one victim technically in in each
of these films.
Uh unless we're talking about the
starting victim. Anyway, how did Benoit
know there was a flask?
>> I'm trying to remember the flask now.
Which [ __ ] was that?
>> Was the one that the door was somewhat
held open by, right? Or am I thinking of
something else?
Or it Remember the
>> There's the the He finds it behind the
door, does he?
>> Yeah, and the door closes There was
there was a There was a sort of thing
about the way it closes and the way it
looks and everything, but
uh
>> Did I have memory hold almost every I I
think I did the notes for that one. I've
forgotten every I normally remember
everything if I take notes about it.
That movie's just gone.
>> For the best, I'm sure. Oh, dear, guess
who's back back again. It's that time of
year again, isn't it? I knew I was
missing some subversion in this period
of cheer and merriment. I will enjoy
listening to this. Well,
it seems like a tradition, yeah, for us
to check out what Ryan has recently been
up to and uh seems like no one else
really cared.
At least in our sphere, like no one even
watched that movie, I don't think.
It's for the best, I'm sure. In defense
of wishy-washy non-literal commitment to
ideas like God or legend, I recommend
Vinland Saga and the character Askeladd
in particular.
Very well.
Ben Waar is as smart as Ryan. Boo.
Rian Johnson sucks. Merry Christmas,
everyone. Cap is best guest.
All right. Well, you know, I'm sure he'd
appreciate that. A shilling for the Rian
Johnson implausibility meter.
Got to crank to maximum, I'd say, that
meter. Throwback to Jay agreeing with
Russell's Davros take.
I don't remember Jay agreeing with that
take, but I would certainly [ __ ] hope
not. It's [ __ ] It's That's the one
of um you can't portray a bad guy in a
wheelchair because it
gives a bad name to like the differently
abled.
>> Yeah.
>> Which is absolute insanity.
Um you could just run that all the way
down. Anything cuz you know, people like
There's a There's a trope. I can't
remember what it's called, but it's like
why do bad guys always have scars or or
whatever that That's actually like
offensive to the you know, people who've
suffered different blah blah and it's
like, dude,
nobody ever looks at like a scarred
person just goes, "Oh my god, I think
less of you because Palpatine looks
[ __ ] weird." And
it's like, no.
And
uh you know, it's history. It's always
about contextualizing what the
character's been through, who they are,
that sort of thing. I I don't I just I'm
not interested in any of that.
Dr. Ryan, I am a movie maker. I make
movies.
Oh.
Wait.
Oh, they're they're they're they're
doing the meme. It's It's so it's he'd
be like, "I am a movie maker." I mean,
he is. He's just, you know, just not
very good. That's all.
Police Squad episode 1 opens with the
subtitle The Butler Did It. Most people
laugh, but visionary Rian Johnson asks,
"But what if the butler did it?"
Mhm, genius.
So, we can stop simping for Rian now,
right? I mean, who was?
Certainly not us.
I genuinely would never have learned
this movie released without this EFB.
Yeah, I know it's it's weird. The Knives
Out the first one made a way bigger
impact.
Um, but by the time it gets to the third
one, not so much.
Filoni's responsible for a lot of good.
Name it. Name it right now. Name
something that's actually worthwhile
that he didn't just inherit, you rats.
Oh my.
Well, you're not going to hear us
advocating that. Nope,
but yeah. [clears throat]
Yeah.
Can you blame my energy? Freaking sucks.
Uh, I guess the low energy. I'm so
sorry. Have a Have a Have one of them um
What's good to get you energy quick
that's actually good for you? Like a
Like a
The good for you. Well, I guess so.
>> Yes. Everything's good for you in the
right dose.
>> He's one bad mother fish. Shut your
mouth.
All right.
Fair enough. Uh, they'll bring back
Andor as Filoni's Andor, like Daredevil
born again. Why don't you like it? It's
Andor. You like Andor. People are still
assuming they'll they'll like glub
shitto a bunch of Andor characters and
other stuff.
>> That was I remember thinking that
towards the end of Andor season 2. It's
like, "I almost hope everybody dies cuz
then Filoni can flanderize them later."
But he could do that. He's bought Mon
Mothma back, obviously. He could do that
with Klye cuz she survived.
>> And let's be clear, death wouldn't stop
him.
>> No. No, he'd just use the world between
worlds to rescue his [ __ ] beloved
characters from It's so [ __ ] He's so
horrible.
>> Yep.
Um,
in Poland, which has always been very
Catholic, only Easter Monday is a public
holiday. Good Friday is a normal working
day.
Well, all right.
>> All right, that might have come up
previously I was explaining that Good
Friday is always been
like Good Friday nothing is open on Good
Friday like nothing.
And Easter Monday as well.
And Sunday, but Saturday, you know,
stuff's open.
>> Mhm.
Speaking of Smiling Friends, check out
the Adult Swim animated shorts News
Quest.
All right, I'll have to do that at some
point.
Merry early Christmas. Thanks for all
the great commentary. Also watch
Freiren, it's great. Season 2 comes out
in January.
Well, well.
>> I've heard a lot of good things about
Freiren.
>> Yeah, it's been recommended a bunch.
Not going to lie, it's bad, but the
Fabian stuff in VTM2 is better.
Very well.
Dear panel, Merry Christmas and have a
happy New Year. Merry Christmas.
Why did the boxer keep getting knocked
out?
Oh, which character was a Oh, well, I
guess
Well,
>> Oh, it was a main guy. Main guy.
>> Yeah, he
he's an ex-boxer, right? Or he just he
was a very violent man or something.
>> He punched a priest.
>> I believe so.
>> annoyed him in the prologue.
>> What a bastard.
We need to ban high-capacity tactical
poisons.
I guess so, yeah.
Ryan, what are you doing, man?
I don't know, man. He's he's knives and
out.
The [ __ ] writer is obviously a Ryan
insert.
He's got a couple of those in his
movies.
This is what you get when you don't
re-draft.
I'm not even sure he drafts.
Can we be certain of this?
Don't look up the new windows at Notre
Notre Dame. Well,
what did they do to the new windows?
I I I
>> Windows 11?
>> No, like in uh
in I'm looking at it now. What Let's see
old
old versus new maybe.
Cuz it got burned down, right?
>> Oh, windows of hatch.
>> it received significant damage, yeah.
>> Oh, I remember there was some
controversy about assuming this is the
thing I think we're talking about this.
Is it the stained glass windows in Notre
Dame Cathedral and then there was some
debate about what they were going to
depict in the new version?
And that it wasn't good. I don't
remember why it wasn't good.
>> Yeah, I can't find like a a clear sort
of comparison of old and new, but
apparently it's uh
concerning. Yeah, I don't know enough
about that, I'm afraid.
Um
If I have the real murderers of this
flick, my God.
I suppose we are. Congrats, you did it.
And Obama means family and family means
Walking Dead Man.
Well, all right.
Fair enough.
Um which sort of transitions us from
Wake of Dead Man to Avatar
the third.
And
we begin with Mind you, the Na'vi take
over and control animal minds by force.
What happens if a strong-willed animal
takes over a child Na'vi? What then?
Ooh.
>> I mean, it's just the whole thing that
they'd bend bending animals to their
will like instead of actually, you know,
getting them to do things for you by,
you know, training them.
>> Yeah.
>> stuff in return.
Instead it's like, "Here, I let me
enslave you with my mind."
>> It doesn't happen in the war. The
situation described doesn't happen there
because it is clearly sex coded. Na'vi
has been. And legally as a Na'vi you're
not allowed to [ __ ] an animal until
you're at least 18 cuz they have a whole
ceremony for that. Um and unlike the
Na'vi, the animals are not inclined to
rape random creatures because the Na'vi
are good. So, there is no chance of a of
an animal doing anything bad with a
Na'vi child or anything like that. It's
just it's so well worked out. The world
is is perfect. There's nothing to
complain about.
>> I don't believe you.
Ethnic genocide against non-human
species is always good. My God.
Somehow Ultimate 4 Quest for the Quest
of the Avatar is still only good piece
of media with the word Avatar in the
title.
Well, I know some people who'd disagree
with that. Avatar Last Airbender, of
course. Question.
I can fix her, Quaritch. Also me.
Yeah, well, that would be the one meme
that came out of the movie, but still
didn't last that long.
>> No, maybe 2 weeks, I think. It was about
as as long as it went.
>> Jake Paul got TKO'd in his boxing match
last night. Was that the thing where he
got like his jaw
like knocked out to the point where he
was
>> I remember it was against Was it Anthony
Joshua? Cuz like that happened roughly
the same time when Andrew Tate also went
into the ring with someone and lost like
it, but like I almost have a bit of
weird respect for Jake Paul for actually
going against a professional heavyweight
boxer and losing because obviously,
whereas Andrew Tate, I think, lost to a
social media influencer. So, it's like
one of those people has has put their
life on the line and the other one kind
of didn't.
>> At least James Cameron has bought a
house in Austin, so he can help Robert
Rodriguez make a better movie, Alita 2.
Uh
>> I thought James Cameron lived in New
Zealand.
>> Yeah.
>> Maybe he did. Maybe he bought a house in
loads of places.
Buying a house per country, maybe.
>> Everybody likes Austin, don't they?
That's uh That's where uh
That's where everybody wants to go.
>> I like Austin Powers.
>> No, Austin, Texas.
>> How's it better?
The most profitable franchise to never
be talked about. When you get around to
it, Disproof must be on GoldenEye Fap.
Oh, I mean, yeah, we could do a
GoldenEye Fap someday, maybe. I don't
know.
Merry Crimbo, fellas. Also Hi Rags.
Off topic, but I watched X-Men First
Class with my parents and I was always
confused how Xavier is expected to
restrain Shaw. Magneto had to kill him.
Um
I mean, he did restrain him, right? Like
they just wanted to
take his helmet.
Oh, I'm trying to remember the [ __ ]
plot at this point. Isn't
>> get the helmet off? Is it Is that in the
submarine? They crash the submarine on
the beach. They go into the room.
His helmet is off.
They create a
>> Magneto gets the helmet off with the
wires, like the cables.
>> Yeah, and there's a gap in like the wall
of it. So, yeah, like Charles gets
control, but he can't control
uh Magneto at the same time. And so,
Magneto uses that period of of stasis to
shove a coin through his head if I
remember rightly.
>> Correct. But, I guess they're saying
like, "Well, what else is going to
happen?" Because if Charles loses
control of him, then he kills everybody
anyway. Um and I can't remember enough
to say what their plan was.
Um
Merry Kingsmas, make sure to say slurs.
Of course. Avatar 3 or Lord of Ring
game?
Hm.
>> Lord of Ring.
I mean, that's culturally relevant.
>> If I've got to do one of them again,
it's Avatar 3, because it's way quicker,
but, you know.
Do Na'vi have a real concept of death?
Like when she says kill all the humans,
does she understand that humans don't go
to a tree matrix after death?
>> I don't think she or the movie thought
about that, but the movie also doesn't
understand that they have a like the
Na'vi shouldn't have a concept of death
in the same way because they can all
just go and commune with the hippie
tree. And so, the movie can't begin with
them saying, "Oh, we're all so cut up
about the death of whatever that guy's
name was in the last movie." When you
show flashbacks to them just communing
with them and he's fine and he forgives
everyone, so there's no reason to hold
that grudge. It just They needed to have
worked out what the Na'vi attitude
toward death was and they didn't. They
just gave it a human attitude toward
death cuz that's drama and James Cameron
is a hack. Oof.
>> He is now, unfortunately.
>> Um yeah, cuz their vision is like we all
live in the same street and have fun,
but then sometimes if something happens
to you, you end up going into one house
forever. And it's like
>> Your goddess will eat you if something
happens to you.
>> Yeah. Which you know.
Oh, great. Uh with Avatar Spunk Goggle
WeeWee and Fallout season 2, I'm more
excited to see the assembled council of
long rip these pretentious garbage right
films apart.
Well, you got us on Avatar.
Uh the end game for the Avatar franchise
seems to be that the Avatar world spirit
will heal the Earth or something like
that.
>> I think that is a rumor for what happens
in four or five assuming they ever get
made is that they may go back to Earth.
>> Yeah.
Uh hi rags, what does the panel think
the best year for movies is? Friends and
I at work had a chat and decided on 1999
uh both for the quality of the films but
also the quantity of quality. Any
contenders come to mind? 99's a good
one.
Um but honestly there's a lot when you
start going back far enough. Like each
year is kind of impressive.
>> Yeah.
>> 99's a pretty good pick though. Like
that's a good I that's a good one. A big
thing is that 1999 you can point to as
like a really important year for sort of
defining
you know, like the next 10 years, right?
The 21st century.
You know, it's the year of the Matrix.
It's uh the the year of Toy Story 2.
It's the year of um
Uh well, that's great. I love when I
just
>> [laughter]
>> forget immediately and not the other
movies I definitely know about.
>> Oh, I mean they're pretty big hits.
>> 1984 is good for that. Is it 1984? It's
Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters, Temple
of Doom, Gremlins, Karate Kid.
>> Yeah.
>> I mean the real
>> Police Academy.
>> film to mention from 99 for me was
Phantom Menace. I don't know how you
missed that one.
>> Oh, yeah.
All right, well, I mean, that did come
out that year and I guess it was
influential. Just
>> It truly was.
You get the Spyro Shag me as well.
>> [laughter]
>> And the Mummy, which is awesome.
And I think there was a Bond, right?
It's either '99, so it would be
>> Ah, yes. It was
The World Is Not Enough.
>> Yeah. [clears throat]
Um yeah, I'd have to like look at a list
to be 100% sure. A lot of this stuff is
the kind of thing you remember and
you're like, "Oh, yeah, of course, of
course, of course."
Uh
TFA part 6, when? Who knows? Also, hi
Rags, Nor, and uh what's Platoon's
catchphrase? Let's go with what?
Is that a catchphrase?
>> [laughter]
>> Yes, I apparently it is.
>> Um the whale goo is so dumb. Do you
understand the concept of immortality,
the weight of living forever?
Y- You sure?
To an extent. Obviously, I haven't done
it yet.
But I might, you know, I'm thinking
about it.
But yes, the whale goo is dumb. There's
a lot of references here, Moby Dick,
Abraham and Isaac, the Guardians joining
hands to control the power of the
Infinity Stone. Yes.
Yes, indeed.
>> That's what Avatar is, it's just theft.
>> Mhm.
Always be thankful the Avatar franchise
for giving us Mo'at on calling into
Metal's Forge
uh from outside to rant about how
botched Quaritch was. Yeah, I wanted to
talk about how children should have died
and the film would have been better.
Um
but uh that whole part in Avatar 2 will
forever throw me off. It's one of the
stupidest decisions ever.
Uh I'm sure I'm sure Cameron thought it
was very clever.
I wanted to make a clever joke, but I
barely remember the plot of Earth, Wind
and Fire. God bless Mecha Quaritch,
extinct little blue freaks.
I liked Mecha Quaritch as well.
Fire and Ash sounds redundant. Think
water and wet.
Eh.
I think it's a little bit different than
water and wet, but
>> Mhm.
>> I get where you're going with it.
The relationship to the Na'vi Sorry, the
relationship the Na'vi have with their
animals is what Eater's idea of what
Pokémon is. Pikachu and Charizard are
friends. Space horses are victim.
>> I'm not sure I know that reference, but
I mean the relationship of the animals
to the Na'vi is just sexual sexual
harassment.
>> Yep. And people don't like to think
about it.
How is Eywa not a slaver and parasite?
It actually holds back its dominant
species and even calls its population.
And then how is humanity not 100%
justified? Oh, no. Eywa like when they
eventually put Eywa on Earth, that's
going to be terrifying.
>> Yeah.
>> Assuming that happens.
>> Sure is.
>> I think Eywa lives in the living things,
not dead rock. She's not literally the
planet. She's just kind kind of hive
mind biocomputer made of robots. All
roots, yeah. That's That's the the scary
thing. She is like a giant creature that
controls a lot of what happens on the
planet, but everyone has like a sort of
whimsical view of her when it's like I
think that's just a a horrifying
Lovecraftian creature that is sapping
the life out of everything to keep
herself alive or something.
You guys got to entertain there's a
there's a worse thing happening here.
Criticism of the day for enjoying food
tastes so terrible for preferring
chicken over steak. I mean, I do as
well. So.
>> So do I.
>> Chicken's [ __ ] bitching, dude.
>> Chicken's really good. And of course
that makes it It's chicken is uh
It's got to be more sustainable if there
is one of the two choices, right?
>> As far as I'm aware, yeah.
>> can feed a lot more people with chicken
than you can with steak.
And I mean also you can't be wrong cuz
it's it's literally just a preference.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh
The spirits seem to only have memories
up to the time they were last uploaded
to the spirit network. This is why
he has to ask how he died.
>> But they all know whoever character is
in the final scene of that movie when
they all have that stupid gnostic
ascension bit and everyone's like, "Oh,
it's you. Well done for everything you
just did. We know exactly what you just
did. We know who you are, Spider. Here,
we'll lay our hands on you and now
you're part of the community." Um I
think it the rules are just whatever
happens in James Cameron's head in any 5
seconds at a time. There's nothing more
than that.
The only reason that the brother Smurf
doesn't remember at the beginning of the
movie because the movie needs to remind
the audience what happened. That's why
he forgets.
>> Mhm.
Uh TFA 10 years later video essay Evap.
There are some doozies out there that
have made me dumber for watching them.
Thanks for the entertainment, gents.
Um
Yeah, I guess we would have somewhat
missed the the party on that if there
were some interesting videos regarding
it, but I'm sure there are. It's just uh
we got other stuff to talk about, you
know?
Unironically, I swear I'm not making
this up, but Resident Evil Afterlife
took more advantage of 3D than most
movies do.
>> Sure.
>> That was really early.
Yeah, cuz there's a part where Wesker
throws his glasses
>> Yeah.
>> And they're like, "Hey, but it's like in
Resident Evil 5." It's like, "Yeah,
that's why you did it, huh? Cuz it was
Resident Evil 5 or cuz 3D?"
>> Rags, you should check out Easy Red 2.
It's Daisy meets Battlefield and
Brothers in Arms. Also, why does
Tarantino sound like Nosferatu totally
in from VTM 2?
I don't know. Maybe it's drugs.
Who can say?
Melania Evap won the first joke
anti-woke movie. As if I'm ever going to
[ __ ] watch that.
>> I'm Yeah, that that sounds That's
There's no way it's funny. It's probably
profoundly dull.
>> Yeah.
>> Like insanely boring and just stupid.
That's crazy, man. $40 million, wasn't
it, to get the rights to even make it?
>> Well.
>> What is it it's more than that? I want
to say 70 million. It was a huge amount
of money either way.
>> 50 million, right? I think it I think it
was like it had a 30 million It was It
was a
something like either 30 million dollars
for the rights and then 40 million
dollars to produce like actually make it
or the other way around. Just an absurd
amount of money to be spent on a project
that nobody would want to watch.
>> Uh I imagine you may have covered it at
some point, but I want to explain why I
wanted to see a little girl get killed
more than Metal's Forge 65. Exactly.
>> [laughter]
>> I I stand by it, too.
Uh want to see drama caused by character
decisions that aren't awkwardly
shoehorned in by terrible writers, bad
actions caused by trauma that aren't
then excused by trauma. You want The
Amazing Digital Circus. Also, High Rax.
Very well.
Metal is bad juju. Well, it makes sense
uh when you live next to the MR machine
from hell that eats a metal.
Oh.
Very bad. I don't even want to do that.
Uh I miss Tonal. Do you?
I mean, yeah, he was he was a light on
YouTube, you know. Uh good old Down With
Ross.
Ross, just such ancient memories at this
point, you know.
>> [laughter]
>> Um
Merry Christmas, gentlemen. It's Lorelei
from the YouTube channel Southern Fried
Cinema Siblings. Our episode Avatar, Why
It Had No Cultural Impact drops two out
of one up now. Oh, I guess it's like
first part out of two, maybe. Which is
backwards. Uh watch our Christmas
episode Die Hard, Is Holly the Bad Guy?
What?
Why would you ask if Holly's the bad
guy?
I don't think she's the bad guy. I think
the other guys with the guns and stuff,
they're the bad guys.
The where they stealing stuff and all
that.
I didn't rewatch the first two, but I
did feel like the characters were reset.
Glad to know I'm not insane.
Um watching them all in a row is tough,
man.
>> Yes, it is.
>> Especially the middle part of the second
one, it is excruciating.
Nothing happens for like a whole hour.
Rough.
My feelings on these movies is
summarized in Desperate of Antrim's the
worst movies of 2025 video at 1 hour
22:45. Also, I'll summarize this, play
DDLC dumbos.
Very well.
Uh the small hands and Albert eyebrows
is human Na'vi hybrid trait, not a
forest Na'vi trait, I think.
>> Uh
maybe. I don't remember what the rules
are. Um
No, no, that can't be true because the
sea Na'vis have webbed hands, which
obviously the forest Na'vi don't.
I thought they were commenting on that.
There might be some other subtle details
in the hands that they were also
commenting on.
But the forest Na'vi are not they they
don't have the same tail shape or hand
shape. And that's the point that That's
this in part two when
the the wacky wizard woman, she's like,
"Nah, these people are from Satan
because look at their tails and their
hands." I'm sure that's a forest Na'vi
thing rather than a human thing, but I
could be wrong.
>> Uh the small hands and eyebrows Oh wait,
uh sorry, I read that. Quaritch equals
number one wild sex after flamethrower
play.
Yeah, I mean
what he gets up to, I suppose. You
should look the forest
forest internet. It's the IRL
inspiration for Eywa, but unlike Eywa,
it's an actual part of the ecosystem
that exists to harm herbivores.
Okay.
>> that's when trees kind of send out
chemical signals to warn other trees
that things are grazing on them? I think
that might be that thing.
>> My God, the happening.
>> I Okay.
>> Um
a shilling for the Avatar averageness
forgetability profitability nexus meter.
Are these movies neuralizer prototype
test patterns?
Uh
I remember the neuralizer.
That's a good reference.
>> Yeah.
>> Do do They have lots of batteries.
They're on the last working mask.
Oh.
>> didn't need batteries in part two, but
that was just invented in part three.
>> Mhm.
>> When they decided that the only way to
solve that problem is that like you kids
who's lived for all of your entire life
wearing a mask, you can't live your
entire life wearing a mask. We're going
to have to send you away to people
rather than asking the traders to bring
us batteries from those people.
Cuz we got a no Sully left behind or
whatever the family motto is.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> I got asked to leave at the a third of
the way through the movie because I was
laughing so hard at the ash tribe coming
in wasted Sully's forces with a single
shot rocket launchers and guns while
millions of humans gunships can't.
You got asked to leave?
>> cuz you were laughing so much. That's
funny.
>> I don't think that's To me like if you
were talking, that's one thing, but
laughing I know it could be obnoxious,
but I guess everyone's allowed to do
that, right?
>> Well, yeah. I mean it's like in I was
funny I was about to say in the
Simpsons, but it's Cape
>> Cape Fear, yeah.
>> the reference, yeah.
>> He was finding that movie genuinely
funny, damn it, you know?
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah, and then Homer finds it funny,
too, and he gets in with his laugh.
>> No, really though, that's too much.
>> [laughter]
>> Sideshow
Bob.
>> Uh such great episodes. Yo, love you
guys. Been a great year. Just wanted to
ask what your favorite topic to cover
this year was.
All right. Well,
>> Favorite topic of 2025.
>> I know what mine is, but I'll let you
guys go first.
>> I need to be reminded almost of what the
things what what would jump out.
>> Mhm.
>> I mean we just
>> blurs.
>> We could do a relativity thing, right?
As in like the last year as it stands
right now. So we got like
James Bond, The Boys, Mando and Grogu.
Obviously, these are high contenders.
Born Again, as you remember, the
ultimate Noah Grimuglia
thingamajigger.
>> [ __ ] was hilarious.
>> I think it's got to be that for the
sheer dramatic arc of it.
>> That's my pick.
>> [laughter]
>> Yeah.
>> I think that yeah, makes sense.
>> Mario Galaxy, Project Hail Mary,
um
>> Wow.
>> That was fun talking about Project Hail
Mary.
>> Oh, Nine the Seven Kingdoms is
definitely a top-tier one. That That
[ __ ] is awesome.
Hey, and Eternal Sunshine.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, man.
>> I mean, talking about Eternal Sunshine
as well.
>> Remember what the bad?
>> I I do now, and I will forget it in
about a minute.
>> Oh, Stranger Things.
>> Mhm.
>> Definitely.
>> Oh, and we did do a Gollum round two,
which was pretty good [ __ ]
>> [laughter]
>> But uh yeah, no, I would be I would be
siding with the
the Noah Grimuglia arc. That [ __ ] was
funny.
Hope you guys are doing Oogly Googley
I guess that's probably the Oogly Goo.
I'm assuming it's a Smiling Friends
reference is what I'm saying.
>> Uh
>> Oogly Goo.
>> Some friends games on Steam get unjustly
positive. Star Wars Outlaws, The Last of
Us Two, Suicide Squad, etc. Are there
any games you guys think are unfairly
negative? Hello Mborags.
Um I think the the score for Slay the
Spire 2 got like completely obliterated
because of uh the Chinese version.
Um to the point where there was an
implementation of like stats recognition
and splits to show
that it wasn't an overall negativity
thing. It was that specifically cuz I
don't know if it was a translation issue
or something, but uh Chinese customers
were not happy with the game for
something that went wrong with the
Chinese version. I don't know. Point
being, that was unfortunate for them
because the game is very fun. And uh
It's how it goes. We got [snorts]
tickets to see Lord of the Rings
extended in theaters next month. Can't
wait to finally see them. Long live the
long Hilumbo rags.
Oh, yeah, man. Everyone's got to go see
Lord of the Rings extended at some
point.
The hair connection is a telepathic
link. She knows everything about him
basically once she connects. Ooh, it's
more than that.
Drizzly-ishly more than that in a way.
Uh as Platoon made clear in his Avatar 2
review, this trilogy is just for the
feeling. So, the feelies. No substance,
all spectacle, a foul simulacra of
cinema.
>> Ooh, yes. The feelies is from Brave New
World. It's just it it it predicts what
cinema is going to become before cinema
was even really a big thing when Huxley
was writing. But the idea that really
it's just like it might start off with
noble intentions of telling stories, but
actually it just devolves really quickly
into here's just like the most shallow
emotional stimulus you can get. And
that's what a movie's going to be now.
And it's just going to be used to sap
all life and meaning from the world.
>> Mhm.
I'm reminded of when I went to
um
Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. Bad movie
with an entire theater who would laugh,
cheer, and clap seemingly on command of
the pauses in the movie. Really?
Well, you know, I guess some people did
enjoy that movie.
Good for them.
>> Yeah.
The guy sitting a few seats down from me
sure didn't.
>> Yeah. [laughter]
A note on Spider. I felt a bit of pity
for him, like he's an abused child that
had no understanding of his situation
nor means to escape it.
Sure. Feel bad for him, I guess.
>> Well, yeah, it's a bit awkward cuz like
he comes through in a big way and uh
like a lot of the time and he's severely
disadvantaged um in this world. And for
all of that, like the [ __ ] two
protagonists of the of the series like
seriously legitimately get really close
to killing him.
>> It's insane. Really strange.
>> What a scene that was.
Huge mistake.
>> To the point that he's even like it's
okay. It's okay, father. Do it.
>> Imagine this their inability to write
him as a character and inadvertently
makes him the best goodest character in
the thing cuz he just like he has no
opinions. He just forgives everyone for
everything.
>> Yep.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh we need to make the Na'vi a
spacefaring civilization, Elon Sully.
No.
Much like the film, I'll forget this
episode shortly after it's over. Cheers,
lads. Yeah, that's the unfortunate part
of covering Avatar stuff. You have to
just accept that it will be forgotten
the moment it ends. That's how it goes.
Uh hi Moobles, been an avid listener for
many years. You rock, keep up the good
work. Could you say the line
uh Indra, Jeff loves you and you're
amazing. Thanks and cheers the crew. Hi
Rags. Well, thank you.
Uh thanks for letting us know.
He is indeed. Say like an awesome RE5
remake gets made with a bangercock mode,
would you who would you pair up with
Sorry.
Who would pair up with who here? Or
would Maul pair with Drinker? I have to
pair with Drinker because we're we're
doing so much Resident Evil stuff. We're
we're Resident Evil buddies at this
point. However, it would be pretty
[ __ ] cool to see Fring and Platoon
play through it if that happened. I'm
just saying.
So, you know, it's up to them.
Whatever they want to do.
>> Could be my second ever Resident Evil
game.
>> Oh.
We need to drop dingoes to get rid of
the rabbits and then the tigers to get
rid of the dingoes.
Cool.
>> Uh well, the dingoes have not
successfully gotten rid of the rabbits.
I can tell you that much.
>> Just nuke it. That should sort it all
out.
>> Well, no, there was uh biological
warfare is what was used against the
rabbits and I think it was pretty
successful, but this is relatively like
relatively it's like oh instead of like
10 million rabbits there's like 3
million rabbits. I might be
underestimating how many rabbits there
are and that was back in the 50s I think
that they did that.
But uh I'm pretty sure it means that if
you have a pet rabbit you cannot get
them vaccinated against um against that
uh that disease. It's not allowed cuz
otherwise it could spread a uh
immunity among the uh the wild rabbits
so yeah.
Mhm.
Don't let your pet rabbit like outside
unsupervised in Australia.
>> Uh Pandora has less gravity. Any Earth
animal would have been at insane
strength in comparison. A cat or rabbit
could overpower animals several times a
larger.
Interesting.
Merry Christmas to my fellow massives.
Jake Sully, literal enemy of mankind.
Yeah, he's a traitor. He's a complete
[ __ ] traitor and a multi-layered
traitor.
>> It's like uh
Then then then Quaritch like you think
you're one of them? It's time to wake up
and then he unfortunately smooshed the
wrong katana.
>> Yeah.
>> I
think
>> [laughter]
>> that would have been a funny ending to
the movie he smooshed the wrong one and
a
bunch of blood shoots out and then
[ __ ] blue Jake just collapses to the
ground.
>> [laughter]
>> Rib removal. And then they put the goo
in a cup and they're like hey we want
help. And they're like no, I think he's
gone.
>> Yeah, and then I was trying to get a
little veins in the blood and it's like
this is not working for me guys.
>> Uh there's a deleted scene from the
first movie that has Jake getting kicked
out of a bar. Basically removes whatever
sympathy you have for Jake in the main
movie if you see it. It's insane they
filmed it.
>> Uh yes, I remember I remember that.
>> Yeah, I've seen it but I've completely
forgotten what the takeaway from the
scene is.
Do you remember the scene?
>> I just remember that he gets thrown out.
>> Yeah.
Um it's just alternate universe Alien 3.
Uh
but Alien 3 is better than Avatar, okay?
I'm saying.
Eywa is the queen bee of Pandora and
Kiri is the new queen that goes out to
form a new colony on Earth.
Maybe. That might be what they're doing.
Raggedy old Biden is showing. My god.
This [ __ ] is why space conquistadors are
right.
It's hard not to side with them, okay?
Should change it so Na'vi live for
hundreds of years and really have kids,
effectively immortal, just swapping to
animals and only have kids to either
replace a lost soul or take over a kid's
body for old soul.
Mhm, that could create some other
interesting aspects of ethical
quandaries.
>> Yeah, imagine yourself with any even
halfway interesting science fiction
concepts entering the movie at one time.
That would be nice, but no.
>> Uh Avatar as a concept would be better
if it was a lone survivor of a Smurf
joined up with the humans to kill the
planet as revenge and or to save the
galaxy.
>> Yeah, he like he wakes up. He's he's the
one who he learns the truth. He's like
Neo when he he learns that he's, you
know, plugged into the machine. This one
lone Na'vi learns that his goddess has
been feeding on the corpses of his loved
ones, breaks out of his mind control,
realizes the humans were right, sides
with them, burns the tree down, kills
the god, and saves the world. That would
be a cool story.
>> Uh Starmie got a mega evolution, mega
Starmie, and it's it's confirmed Pokémon
doesn't try, and I hate it.
>> I don't want to see that ever again.
>> Yeah.
Uh to be honest, I would vote to kill
Spider, as well. The risk is just too
big. The needs of the many outweigh the
needs of the one and all that.
>> [snorts]
>> Oh, well, the thing is is that I want to
I want humanity to get all of that. I
want humanity to be able to just take
over Pandora. Like
I would that Yeah, I I would
Na'vi suck.
Yep.
>> Molar request, which episodes of Buffy
do I skip, please?
Preferably none of them
because it's all a big old package.
>> There's no Yeah, there's no point. Like
take it from somebody who really didn't
enjoy season one at all in retrospect.
Like I'm I'm glad that I I know I'm
really glad that I've watched the whole
thing including some of those episodes.
>> And then take it from someone who I'd
watched that did the skipping mode. They
ended up going back. They wanted to see
more of just you know, what they'd like
left out even if they were the worst
episodes cuz it's just like, yeah.
Listen,
you just have to take my word for it and
it might not even be a show you like,
but you should go for it. You should
just go full throttle and
hopefully it is something you end up
liking.
Organized chaos E-Fap wiki page is
written in Wingdings. That way the
cringe dialogue is now a visual medium.
Okay.
>> [laughter]
>> Just saw the new Force Awakens video. At
the end when Rey's character comes up, I
felt I'd heard it before. Turns out
Overly Sarcastic Productions said the
same about Rey in their video on strong
women. So, they framed it as Rey being a
relatable and realistic character. Oh
god.
I'm sorry, but like I don't think anyone
could deny she's clearly completely
unrelatable. Like nobody feels anything
for Rey. Um
certainly beyond her initial purpose
which was like a big
audience insert of a theme park ride
which doesn't last like inherently.
Which is what's been shown. Um they keep
threatening and playing around with the
idea of more Rey, but they still can't
commit to it. Why do you think that is?
There's got to be people at Lucasfilm
that are like, why the [ __ ] would we do
that? It doesn't work. And other people
are like, yeah, Yeah, that's what we
have. That's it. That's the story. Rey
is the story. What do we do?
We do Mandalorian and Grogu, of course.
Just a flying visit to wish you masses a
Merry Christmas. I will watch your, no
doubt, gushing praise of the new Smith
to film uh Smith film tomorrow.
We did love it. It's true.
Is that whale brain juice? Baby whale
brain juice? Twice the immortality, half
the weight. Oh, yes.
James, I'm sorry, but you missed your
chance to make this a franchise 13 years
ago. I can respect the dedication, but
who cares about Avatar, really?
Nobody cares about it in any kind of
serious way, but people still go to
watch it, so there's that.
>> And much fewer each time. They get not
even a small amount, either. I did
crunch the numbers in the video, and I
can't remember exactly what it was,
but it's it's not trivial the number of
like how fewer people go to watch this
one than even the last one. I think the
last one was just cuz it was a 13-year
gap, and so it still seemed relatively
new. This is uniquely a franchise that
does not survive releasing in close
proximity. It actually requires big
gaps, because otherwise people realize
how empty and repetitive it is.
>> Yeah.
All right, sweet crispy blue Avatar's
almost forgot. This is why we need to
bully anyone who uses AI extra hard.
Platoon, it's ruining art and is a crime
against humanity.
From what I
aggressive.
This is a feels like a killer out of
nowhere.
>> Yeah, I'm it must have been in relation
to something. AI would have improved the
Avatar movie had it written in,
obviously. Um
and I I I just prefer I don't know. When
it comes to AI, I prefer evidence that
people have thought about it for
themselves rather than received an
opinion online. So, you know, when
you've done that, come back.
>> Ferrari or Prius? People only remember
muscle cars.
>> Um I mean,
all right, cuz it was something James
Cameron said like that he was making
Ferraris rather than Priuses when it's
like, dude, you the other way around.
Except not really because a Prius is
like an
like a reliable like it's a smart
decision. Like a Prius is like a
sensible car.
>> Well, I don't really know anything about
that. So, I agree.
>> I just I remember finding it stupid as a
as him saying like yeah, cuz he said
that's what we're making. We're making
Ferraris. Like no, you're not.
>> Oh, yeah. I do remember that quote now,
actually.
>> Well, maybe you're making that new
electric Ferrari.
>> [laughter]
>> Uh the insult for these films is coming
from that they suck balls and come from
the T2 and Aliens guy. It's like seeing
Gunn make Superman after Guardians of
the Galaxy.
Uh yeah, I mean I
I love Guardians of the Galaxy and
everything. It's a good movie, but T2
and Aliens for the guy who made them to
make Avatar is [ __ ] criminal.
>> Yeah.
>> They sold Spider into slavery, tried to
kill him.
He's had it rough, man.
>> [laughter]
>> You know, he's
he's uh he's just trying to make things
work, poor guy.
These movies feel like movies that
characters would see but never get depth
because it's just filler like Angels
with Filthy Souls in Home Alone. There's
been this uh commentary where most of
the films we see in mainstream media
nowadays are the films that used to
exist inside films.
But like they're now our films and you
know, it's just interesting to think
about.
Uh just FYI, Quaritch takes his
loincloth off when he hooks up with fire
lady. The hair is not the genitals.
Uh but the
the the problem is
you could have both, I guess, with your
hybrids or even with your daughter.
There's a
>> And also like, you know, James Cameron
shows that when they connect the
tentacle, they like orgasm. Like they do
the [ __ ]
>> No.
>> The uh the Avatar movie explains that
this is what happens. It's uh it is a
canon event, unfortunately. You do like
You connect your tentacles when you
[ __ ]
>> Sorry.
Mated, meaning connected, not sex.
I remember this coming up. People were
very defensive over this. I was just
like, "Listen, you have no problem with
this when you disconnect from Avatar as
like a
personal identity thing. Don't worry
about it. It is not a franchise worth
getting invested in. You'll be fine."
And honestly, you'll be better off
considering bits and bobs like that.
Avatar 1 was the
>> It's like saying like, "You put Well,
you know, when you put your tongue in
someone's mouth, that isn't the act of
sex." It's like, "Yeah, but it would be
[ __ ] weird to do it if you weren't
having sex." That's when they do it.
That's what it's designed to do. It's It
is a [ __ ] stick. That is what their hair
is.
>> Yeah, we have too much material,
unfortunately, about what it does, so.
Uh alien grape is okay because they're
alien, James Cameron, probably. No, it's
all seen as spiritual and whimsical and
wonderful, so don't worry about it.
What this movie uh
was how shocked it was bad shocked how
bad it was. Thought it would be bad, but
not this bad. The film is cowardly with
how it portrays the evil human crew of
killed if the whale juice killed cancer
ending wouldn't be heroic.
It was bizarre. And again, a lot of
people we end up talking about the film
with like, "Yeah, I think I I am on the
human side." It's like, "Whoops."
I don't think that was supposed to be
the point.
Um Avatar 1 was the 3D need to buy a new
TV orgasm. Avatar 2 was let us go and
see what they have to offer. Avatar 3
was DOA.
Well, you know, there you go.
Makes more sense that the hair is
actually an Eywa parasite used to mind
control them and control the world.
Would explain why it insta kills.
Oh, yeah, there's that, too, isn't
there?
>> Yep.
>> Um instead of mated, we call them butt
buddies.
All right.
More easy to him.
Uh what is YMS's opinion on the hair
connection thing with animals? I would
rather not know.
So the air the hair connection is more
like the VR glasses in Demolition Man.
They also use them during fun times.
I suppose uh an angle is is just yeah,
it's an extra thing to do extra things
with.
Why the [ __ ] would you want to live on
Pandora?
Well, a lot of people think it's very
beautiful, but at the same time it's
pretty [ __ ] dangerous, you know.
>> It is. And then obviously their
justification in movie is that well, the
Earth is dying. I was like, yeah, but
there are [ __ ] how many tens of
billions of other planets? If you can
make it to this one, surely you can find
one that isn't ruled by a mushroom
parasite god. There must be some.
But then it does have unobtainium on it
and immortalizing Val Braker, so.
>> Uh Quaritch is John Walker. Okay.
>> Yes.
>> I'm not going that far. John Walker's
like a good man through and through.
Quaritch at certain points could be
considered that, but it depends cuz I
don't like him as much in two or three
as I do in one.
>> Well, that's because ironically he
becomes more like a Smurf.
>> Right.
>> the movie wants you to think the more he
like like the more like a Smurf he
becomes the more good there is in him.
But actually for any sensible audience
member, the more like a Smurf he becomes
the more evil he becomes. So he's best
in the first movie because that's when
he's what the movie considers to be bad.
>> Mhm.
I'm behind, but I can't believe the Eywa
hatred. She didn't knock up a corpse.
That's not possible. She just knocked up
a coma patient.
>> [laughter]
>> Can't believe the lies you people
spread. Disgusting.
She knows about the IFF because she
raped the dead fire Smurf. It's so
simple. Oof.
Avatar is stupid. Humanity creates a
fully functional clone of an alien
species that's cybernetically controlled
by human, but they don't uh they do not
alter humans to function on the planet
as super soldiers.
Uh it's hard to reconcile a lot of the
different advances and then not advances
in that franchise.
>> Yeah. Uh, does the space killdozer have
a -10 penalty against basements?
I don't know. Maybe it does.
The only reason the great whales aren't
extinct realistically is because we
found petroleum in the ground.
>> Oh, so yeah, we didn't need that oil.
>> on Earth.
>> Right.
>> So.
>> Because because of the the blubber.
>> Blubber. Oh, [ __ ] she's going to be the
avatar of what's if A is avatar.
Yeah, probably. There's only one avatar
and it's called Aang and it's a great
show. There are no other movies or
shows. Haha. Honest hatred the Hated the
first movie because it made no sense.
Not even going to spend my time watching
the other two, but hearing you guys for
hours of course. jpeg. Well,
we didn't cover Avatar 1 or 2. We kind
of nuked the whole set and the once the
third one was out and I guess we'll Who
knows what will happen in future, but I
mean
I would be curious how it ends, you
know, Avatar.
Just on a broad
uh, broad strokes sort of thing.
>> I just might be how it ends cuz I mean
that's what Cameron said is this is
technically the end of the first Avatar
saga and they will do two more beginning
a new story if they can find ways of
doing it quicker and much cheaper.
>> But a lot of that.
>> Some people say tree bark, but they
obviously don't. Haha.
Cuz tree don't tree don't bark at all.
Lies.
Eywa, destroy my Destroy my enemies and
my life is yours.
>> [laughter]
>> Well, it's just the payoff in like all
the movies every time.
Uh, Quaritch. So, this is this is his
quote. Look at you, Jake. Now look at
me. Better soldier, better Na'vi, better
father, and still a human to my core.
You abandoned your people for blue cat
tail and for what? You're a failure. Now
fight.
Certainly more likable than Jake.
Everyone would agree with that. Orange,
no matter what.
James Cameron dialogue is as bad as
David Milch's is good.
Oh, okay. Yeah. Just can see what he's
saying there.
I'm so glad you guys brought Petunia to
the main cast. He brings a certain je ne
sais quoi to the show, which was very
French of him.
>> Then you fundamentally misunderstood a
core aspect of my being. I am not French
and I never will be.
>> And never will be.
>> [laughter and gasps]
>> Minions has a larger cultural footprint.
Yes. That's Yeah, that's true.
>> It definitely does.
>> Internal logic is subjective except for
my interpretation. Big ideas. Yeah, Big
Ideas had a lot of big ideas, man.
Um
Then if you look up the writers for
James's films, it would explain a lot.
Yeah, I mean, but his his sense of
abilities broadly have changed as well.
Like
uh you can just and whatever he had,
he's lost, unfortunately.
I don't know how else to say it. Uh E
Fab 364's Pokémon entry of the day is
uh
a fella older Sealeo
who
uh notes its habit of juggling new
objects includes uh
sometimes a Spheal on its nose.
And uh
describes using its nose to check the
smell and texture of unfamiliar items.
>> Yeah, that's the evolution of a of of
Spheal fella.
>> Yeah.
Which I guess makes sense for the
continuity, but
Yeah, I uh I mean, I like him. He seems
cool.
>> Yeah, I like him. I just don't like him
as much as uh stage one.
>> Yeah.
Yeah.
And then we got our uh 365
entry, which is the
the the uh
further evolution, I guess. The
uh
Walreins two massive developed tusks can
totally shatter blocks of ice weighing
10 tons with one blow. This Pokémon's
thick coat of blubber insulates it from
sub-zero temperatures.
>> I think he's my least favorite of the
three.
>> Yeah, I definitely prefer the other two
more than him.
>> Something been lost.
>> Yeah.
For sure.
Um
then we have uh the one I have a model
of the whenever, Lord of change of the
Centaur armies. Uh fakey fat fans will
say it's Fringy's great granddad. He's a
frog, remember?
Well,
>> What? It's
>> Uh
>> It looks like a shark.
>> Yeah, maybe I have the wrong image, but
this is what came up, so.
I mean, he looks kind of cool, though.
>> Yeah.
>> Kind of horrifying, you know, as you do.
Um
and we've got the LEGO piece of the day
is the red herring. Look at this.
That was fun.
Um
>> Yeah.
>> It's a normal fish piece, but red. Came
with the noir detective character who
was entirely grayscale. Yeah, that's
cool. I like it.
>> That's clever.
>> Uh
ooh
and then we have our extinct animal of
the day, which is the Picasso moth,
which is also known as the Baorisa
hieroglyphica.
>> He's cool.
>> Yeah.
Some wacky colors.
I guess he's extinct. How unfortunate.
Um
and then the other extinct animal is the
Zif-
Zifac- tinus, Zifac-tinus, the bulldog
fish.
Make me think of Iron Lung.
>> Mhm.
He's scary.
>> So, he's out there somewhere.
Um and then yeah, we got a the swimming
cap is is a LEGO piece of the day.
The Spider-Man eyes printed on it.
Clever way of doing that.
Well, so
Oh, wait. That didn't come out for you
guys. Hang on.
I guess the question for me is like,
wait, it ended up this way because it
was a piece of a Spider-Man set or
because they just didn't know what eyes
to put on it.
>> [laughter]
>> I don't know. Well, anyway, yeah,
that's it.
Um and then farewell and adieu to you
fair fleemish masses. Farewell and adieu
you masses of fleem.
That's the messages. Thank you all so
much for sending them in. We appreciate
it. But for now, we're going to say
goodbye to the peep. Cheerio.
>> See you later everybody. Bye-bye.
