first round match up over the US Open
for 2026. Both players are coming in
with completely different form lines.
Stoiana entered the tournament as a
number 122 in the world. The 33 win 20
loss season so far. Her best result was
actually making a W35 final in Boca
Raton, losing to Day in straight sets in
the end. Her best win though came in the
qualifying of Miami where she beat
Yuvon, who was 98 in the world at the
time. Her worst loss came in a W 100
event to Beluda who was 252 in the world
at the time. Her form hasn't been that
bad actually. It's mainly wins at
qualifier level or you know the lower
levels. She did qualify for Cincy losing
to Valent in the first round. So coming
through the qualifying here, she's got
to feel a little bit of confidence with
that momentum. Yella into the tournament
as number 18 of the world. The 38 win 20
loss season so far. Her best result was
winning Washington beating Pagoula in
the final in a close three setter that
went over a couple days. Her best win
though was on the grass when she took
out Rebecca who was number two in the
world at the time. Her worst loss was
losing to Parks at the Australian Open
at the start of the year who was 99 in
the world at the time. Her form has been
great. She has had a couple of tough
matchups over the last few tournaments
playing in this over and Benic who
overpowered her, but overall since about
Roland Gar, she has been in great form.
These two have actually played the one
time before. That was a couple of years
ago in a W 100 event where Yala got the
win in straight sets. So extra
confidence for Yala knowing that she's
actually played this opponent before. If
Siana's going to win this one and cause
the upset, she's really got to rely on
her experience as a college player. She
used to play for college Texas&M. So, if
she can use that against this hostile
crowd, cuz we know that the crowd is
going to be against her, even in her own
backyard. She might be able to cause an
upset if she's able to use that as a
driving force. Vi's going to win this
one. She's just going to keep riding
that wave of confidence and also
probably needs to be patient. Stoiana's
a little bit of a shorter player and a
bit more defensively minded. So, Yala
can't just try and blast winners because
this player can get the ball back. So
really going to have to be patient and
really construct the points. Interesting
matchup here. You know, Stoiana coming
through the qualies. He's got to have
some confidence through that. But I have
to go with the other in straight sets.

even against some of the best players,
