Do you remember the good old days of Yu-Gi-Oh? Back when you'd bust out your favorite stack of cards at the playground to have legendary duels without a care for a ban list? Back before cards had an entire encyclopedia of text on them? Well, we do. So much so that we're going back to that time right now. In this series, myself and Quick Panic will be traveling back to the year 2002. We will each start with a starter deck available during that time. Each episode, we will spin two wheels, the event wheel and the punishment wheel. These two wheels will simulate our lives as kids in the early 2000s and in doing so will change our decks in different ways. Excited to relive the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh. Welcome to Childhood Yu-Gi-Oh. Hello everyone. Welcome back to Childhood Yu-Gi-Oh. And today we have a very special episode because this is not going to be a normal episode where we spin all our wheels and we open packs and then we go duel each other on Master Duel. Instead, Kyle and I both were headed to Pokemon World San Francisco and decided because we're in the GOAT format era to take advantage of that awesome format and play a couple of episodes live for you guys at Worlds. So, we decided to build physical decks and duel each other while at Worlds. And in order to make it more fun, I decided that we would get a bonus card each per episode. So, how the bonus card works is we get a free card out of the entire pool of all the cards we've opened so far, and we can add it to our collection. So, for this one, I'm actually going to be adding a scapegoat. And my plan is to actually add two of these because we're doing two live episodes. So, that in the second duel, I will have two scapegoats to use for my second deck. So, I'm not actually going to be using Scapegoat in this first duel, but I'm going to be using in the next duel. And I'm that's going to give me two copies because I didn't get starter deck joey. So I never got access to scapegoat and it's one that I've kind of overlooked when I've had a chance to grab it with super rares going back in time. So in order to not overlook it and to play a little bit of goat in goat format, I figured I'd grab two scapegoats for the next episode. So that's a little preview for the next one in our second live episode. But for this one, I'm going to be grabbing one scapegoat. So let's go ahead and grab that. And there we go. Scapegoat is now in the collection. and just I'm probably going to be picking another one in the next episode. Now, I'm going to run through my deck profile and show you guys the cards I'm playing. I cannot wait to open celebrations and pull that Lugia. I decided to go with a lot of like meme fun cards. It's a zombie deck overall with the warrior package in it. But I figured I had to show off some of my funniest cards and most, you know, just goofy cards. So, Shadow Ghoul, I don't think I've ever actually played, but it can be summoned off of the Pyramid Turtle and then if you have a bunch of guys in your graveyard, it becomes a massive guy. So, it's pretty cool. Pumpkin, I ran for multiple episodes and it's just funny to summon Pump King. So, I'm like, I have to play it. We're in person. If I summon Pumpkin, it's pretty awesome. Vampire Lord obviously is very good. So, we played that. I actually have multiple real ones, but I think it might be a two in goat. I can't remember. Patrician of Darkness has actually been decent. Like a funny card that's actually been decent in the episode. So, I of course had to run one of those. And then Rayuki. So, a ton of tributes as you can see. We're running five tribute monsters, which is kind of crazy, but don't worry, we thought about that. Zombra is in here because it is a warrior and he also kind of fits the zombie theme because he's Zombyra. But just 2100 is awesome. Here's the warrior package. the ninja grand master sasuke d warrior later exon forest missing swords level two this is a blade knight that I will put in a card for my regular goat deck I couldn't find an extra one wandering mummy and regenerating mummy had to throw these guys in but I will say just a little background and and behind the scenes for this uh I built three different decks for these two episodes because Kyle only had time to build one and then I had to find him a couple cards for his deck then I had to build his second deck so I was searching everywhere throughout all my cards that I have trying to find cards like regenerating mummy, soul resurrection, like literally impossible to find. It was an ancient sanctuary card, so I eventually did find two, but I spent at least 15 hours building decks just searching for cards that I was hoping I had because we didn't have time to order them. It was like the the couple days before we left. So, I was going crazy searching for cards and it took a lot of looking to make this happen. So, I hope you guys like it. Uh, wandering mummy, then we got the three giant rat, the three pyramid turtle, and a spirit reaper. So standard zombie stuff for the most part there. Snatch deal. Two book of life. I think I only or this might be a two or I only have two. Some for some reason I only have two. Uh like maybe my collection only has two or it's limited to I can't remember. Two creature swap. So good ways to you know steal their guys. Three soul exchange. I love this card so much. I really enjoyed using soul exchange. And because we have five tributes it's almost always online. And in goat when people are setting cards so often you don't have to worry about flip effects. I mean, if it's Sangan, it sucks, but a lot of times it's like magician of faith or it's some other flip guy like Nidasalen or something. It's just very nice. Uh, reinforcement the army. That's another way to get rid of face downs, you know, missing swords and level two or whatever you need in the warrior package. Zombra, uh, MST pot of greed, call the haunted, dust, tornadoes, ring, mirror force, torrential, and two sakus. So, overall, I think going to be a very fun episode, and, you know, we get to tribute some really goofy guys, and I can't wait to play in person. I can't wait to make 12 mistakes that you guys are going to let me know in the comments how we screwed it up because I already know from my editor that we made at least one mistake and there's probably like 10 more.
