Do you remember the good old days of Yu-Gi-Oh? Back when you'd bust out your favorite stack of cards at the playground to have legendary duels without a care for a ban list? Back before cards had an entire encyclopedia of text on them? Well, we do. So much so that we're going back to that time right now. In this series, myself and Quick Panic will be traveling back to the year 2002. We will each start with a starter deck available during that time. Each episode, we will spin two wheels, the event wheel and the punishment wheel. These two wheels will simulate our lives as kids in the early 2000s, and in doing so, will change our decks in different ways. Excited to relive the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh. Welcome to Childhood Yu-Gi-Oh. Hello everyone. Welcome back to the legendary childhood Yu-Gi-Oh. I said legendary cuz I couldn't remember the name of the series. So, yeah, that's not very legendary. So, let me open this. [laughter] I almost said wield anime. I always want to say wield anime. We don't even post anime that much, I feel like. And I always want to say wield anime. Okay, we get a tournament pack five because I got second place. Aka I lost last week. There's only two people. But uh second place sounds a lot better, you know. Um by the way, not feeling great. Feeling pretty bad actually. But the show must go on. So I'm recording. That's not good. That's nothing. What's gingoulis? Welcome back to Childhood Yu-Gi-Oh. The only Yu-Gi-Oh series on YouTube to feature narwhal facts. Did you know that some narwhals are born with two tusks? It's pretty cool, right? Today we open a new pack and we're back on the playground. So, we'll get an opportunity to play a whole bunch of different copies of normally restricted cards, which we've really been feeling since we've been moving into this format, this era where we are starting to see the ban list add more and more cards. So, we'll get an opportunity to play some of our old favorites, add some, I guess, other old favorites because we're opening Dark Revelation 1 today, which combines like Feronic Guardian and uh Magicians Force and Dark Crisis. So, we'll get an opportunity to pick up some cards we might have missed. But before we do any of that really fun stuff, we got to do something even more funnlier. We got to spin the punishment wheel. My favorite wheel. And we've added new stuff to the punishment wheel and to the event wheel. So, let's see if we can spin something new. All right, punishment wheel time, baby. Let's It's getting pretty big. Okay, there should be a good chance we get something new. And today, oh, that was really What is this? Scared of stolen cards. Leave all semi- liimited and limited cards at home, but not banned cards. >> Okay, I'm going to spin the wheel. We're doing if you lose three in a row, you get to not do the punishment wheel, I think. But we started that last week. I didn't mention it. So, if I lose or two weeks ago or something, if I lose again this week, I won't have to spin this next week. But I'll be winning, so nothing to worry about. This is a playground episode as well, by the way. We're in March of 2005. We're opening Dark Revelation 1 today. Oh, okay. So, no more snatch deal again this episode. Oh, wait. We don't we don't repeat, right? So, we got to do a different one. Okay. Yeah, that's right. That's a new rule. So, I actually can use snatch deal maybe. Oh no. Oh no. 28 monsters. Okay, we're going to have to get creative for this one. Uh, it's been a while since I've had this one, so I'm going to have 28 monsters. Probably a 50 card deck just to even it out a little bit. Okay, that's going to be interesting. Hey, Roxson, where did all the vintage openings go? Um, you guys know vintage openings are pretty expensive. The boxes nowadays are so hard to get. Yeah, but Roxson, why don't you just do one on whatnot? Then you could, you know, sell the packs and everybody else could participate and you could open it up and get excited when you pull Jenzo. Did you say Jenzo? Feral servant. Wait, open the packs on whatnot? Yeah, dude. You've done it before. Did you like forget about You do whatnot all the time. Oh, that's actually a good point. Let's see if we can spend something. Let's see who's going to quit Yu-Gi-Oh today. I'm sure it'll be my older brother. Uh, technically, we haven't spun him rec Oh. Oh, found money in the couch. Buy your favorite card of SR lower rarity released in the last calendar year or five packs released in the in the last calendar year. Okay, so we're in March 2005. Anything that's a pack works. So I guess SR you could buy out of a starter deck as well, but I'm trying to think if starter deck ka evolution you just have like dark magician blue eyes. So that's pretty bad. Or lower rarity. Or lower rarity. Wait, if you go to the starter decks, dragons roar zombie madness. Now we're talking. Okay, I didn't get to remember get Zombie Madness and there's a lot of great cards in here that I wanted. If we take a look here, let's see if there's any big cards I missed. I could get another snatch deal. This is uh a playground episode, so we could use multiple. I don't know that I want to do that. I probably want to get something I can play every episode, which I said that recently and Mirror Force was banned. Yeah, I realized my mistake later on that because I was thinking goat format, if it's legal in GOAT, it's probably legal. No, it was banned. So, uh it'll be back. So, I wasn't completely wrong, but I was wrong about right then. Uh, which was kind of dumb, but I did get my mirror. I just wanted a mirror force, let's be honest. Okay, Pot of Greed, Heavy Storm, Book of Life. I have two of these. I thought I had less. Torrential tribute number two. It is at one. So, okay, we're still at the same ban list. I think next [music] time is goat format actually. So, this is the last time without a goat format ban list. So, as you can see, mirror force is banned. What else is there? Compulse. That's a pretty good card. Okay, we could get a compulse. We could get a dust. Yeah, honestly not as crazy a stuff in here as I thought because I do have most of these cards already. I already have Vampire Lord twice. I guess I could get Rayu Koki, but you know, we've How much zombie have we played? I probably need to branch out a little bit. And I think Rayu Koki is in DR1, so we might actually pull it today. It's a hollow though, so it is going to be harder to pull. Oh, you know what I should get? I'm being dumb. I completely didn't even think about this. I don't have a Chaos Sork, so I should probably get one of those. You know, I know it's it's chaos is not that fun or whatever, but it would be kind of stupid not to have a chaos sorcerer for a goat format. I don't have one. So, I'm going to add one. This is, you know, my my super rare lower. It's only a common, but I wasn't able to pull any. So, I am going to actually add one of these so I can actually put it in my deck and have a little bit of a chaos threat. >> All right. Like I mentioned previously, uh, Dark Revelation Volume 1 is a reprint set and it features Magicians Force, but not all of it. For some reason, we don't get Dark Magician Girl, which is unfortunate for collectors, but I don't think it would have helped us very much in the upcoming upcoming episodes. Anyway, um, but we see Dark Crisis, Magicians Force, and Chronic Guardian. The main thing that I'm looking for is to pick up more of the Gravekeeper stuff that we missed because later on, way later on, there are some really cool Gravekeeper support cards that come out. And there's like we're going to have Blackluster Soldier all over the place now. Since we're going to be getting master collection pretty soon, it'll just be cool to be able to pick up maybe a Necro Valley. Other than that, there's really not a whole lot that we're missing out on. Um, once we get over to, you know, the Flaming Eternity and the Lost Millennium, we start to see like a little teensy bit of power creep come in. Um, but I'm scrolling through these. I guess it'd be cool to get a second lava golem, but other than that, you know, I already have two breakers and, you know, we don't really need more than two uh spell cancellor. You know, if I pulled a couple of spell cancellors, it would be funny to play in a playground episode. Um, Paladin of White Dragon would be kind of cool to play. Blue eyes. It's It's kind of rough. This is not the best uh pack. This is the Dark Revelation one doesn't have very many reprints we'd like to see. I would take skilled Dark Magician, though. Being able to play Dark Magician would be pretty cool. And it's and it comes in at rare, which is not bad. Um, continuing down another Another chance at tribe infecting. Do we even get a chance at Donsolug again? Is that guy not in here? [laughter and gasps] That's pretty funny. And once we get to the bottom, Dark Paladin, you know, we we might be able to summon it. Reflect Bounder. I already have, we'll get an opportunity for Shinado again, but I kind of determined that wouldn't be a super great card. Exodia Necros would be fun to try and play in a playground episode, except I can't play limited or semi- liimited cards this week. As we scroll to the bottom, another opportunity at DD Warrior Lady is okay. And I think we're going to get to the bottom here. Uh, a third skill drain I think I still need. We're going to get to the bottom here and find that there's nothing really of note that we really need to pull uh for our collection at this point. Uh, I guess dark master's orc would be almost interesting. All right, let's get to the pack opener. Now, let's get into the opening part, which is going to be Dark Revelation. We got 24 packs of Dark Revelation volume one. Let's open our packs. A lot of these are reprints of stuff we already have. There's probably some staples we miss. Let's see what we can get. Skill Train. Grave Keepers Guard. I could go for more spies. Raaki braid. Clip the trap remover. That's a goat card. Shenato. All right. Another tribe is crazy. We're in We're on the playground right now. So that that could be used. Uh why dragon head. Okay. Some cool stuff in here. More gravekeeper stuff. I hate how tall the screen is cuz the extra thing. Another Sakuru arm. I don't remember if I had three of those. I probably didn't. So that's cool. We're probably not going to need it in the childhood or in the uh playground episodes. Another spirit reaper. Another succ. Wow. We are we're we're looking pretty good here. Secret barrel. Old Vindictive Edition. Sukiomi. Getting all the nice cards from these past sets. Mudora. Okay, that could be kind of fun. Dude, I want to run back the fiend deck. I'm not going to lie. Maybe I'll run back the fiend deck. We have to play 28 cards, but maybe I'll try. Dark necroar didn't get to get summoned last time. I know it's probably throwing, you know. Oh, I Oh, another giant orc for the fiend deck. Nice skilled white magician for lights and darks. Oh, this is Fiend, too. Wait, the Fiend deck is getting so much better right now. Wave motion cannon. Oh my gosh, I gave Rhyme a nice signed copy of Wave Motion Cannon. You guys can go comment on his channel. Nice signed Wave Motion Cannon. It's pretty cool. You're like, "Yeah, sick. Best best card in my collection." Nidoria, also a fe. Dude, there's so many fiends in this dark necrar. And I can use this time because I don't have to use vanillaas. I just have to use a lot of a lot I must say Pokemon. A lot of monsters that are fiends. Okay. Not necessarily fiends, but what do we got over here? That's a fiend, too. Not that I'm going to play that. Dude, we're we're about to pull out a sick fiend deck. I'm excited. And a ton of nice spells and traps cuz we are the playground. Wow. Hiccups. I'm so excited. Dark Necro is going to get its time in the sun. Okay. And I could probably throw in like Chaos and Bird Dragon or something, too. It'll probably fit. Uh, okay. Next, uh, we have Great Giant Orc again. Dark Master Zork. That's a super rare. That could be a fun deck. Start rolling die. That'd be fun. All right. Is this the last pack? It is. Reflect Bounder. That's super cool. I don't have one of these yet. Okay. And that's a light, too. That's pretty sick. Oh, yeah. And this skill Dark Magician. I like that for like the warrior beatdown deck. Spellcaster. And if I get the thing that says like you love spellcasters, that is a piece on the wheel. That could be a pretty cool card. So, let's feel like we got a pretty great opening. A lot of cool stuff in here. Nothing like big staplewise, but a lot of cards that I really like. >> Okay, looks like the next episode is going to be the Lost Millennium. This is a pretty cool set. Um, I remember opening this and going to like one of my first sneak previews, sneak peek, whatever we used to call them back in the day, and uh pulling Brain Control, which was pretty cool. um, Lost Millennium. And then we got to get some tournament packs. We're on tournament season five, so we'll get three of those. And Dark Revelation volume one. We'll snag 24 of those. Let's see what we can pull. Let's start off with the tournament pack. I think it uh is the most apppropo thing. Um, I don't know what's in here. Is this still Kiku? It is. Uh, another book of life, which we don't need. [laughter] Pack two. Tornado Bird Pack Three. Can I get a Kaiku? The answer is no. Trapboard of Eraser. I did not think this card was hollow when I pulled it. And I still have no clue why it is hollow cuz this card is awful. All right, let's let's look at Lost Millennium so we can get a little bit of excitement out of the way. And then, you know, then we'll get into Dark Revelation and see what we're playing with. The only cards I remember from this are Ancient Gear Golem, which is an ultra rare, and Brain Control, which is a super rare. I don't know what else is in here. Ah, this is an [laughter] I do this every episode now, but we are at the advent of ultimate rares. And uh Dio, I think is how you pronounce her name. She has an awesome ultimate rare. I need one of those for my collection. Battery men. That's right. That's right. Okay. I remember I remember what's going on in this set. Desat's also pretty good. All right. Next up, we got Ancient Gear Beast. And nothing really to talk about. Why do I remember this card? Send one rock monster from the deck to the graveyard. Okay, I know why I know this card now. All right, last pack of the Lost Millennium before we get into Dark Revelation volume one. Legendary. Oh, we got the combo monk fighter and legendary black belt. Roxton is screwed next week. All right, Dark Revelation volume one. We got the big pack. Does this fit on the screen? It is. [laughter] It is fitting. We got Reflect Bounder. I didn't realize this came as super rare. That's pretty cool. Um, Rope of Life, which I don't think is very usable. Metamorphosis. We already had three. Uh, Gakugiri Panda is something that we might be able to use in like a beast down strategy. Next up, X head cannon. [laughter] Do you guys remember? I played this in one episode, the dragon cannon stuff. I don't think I won. I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. Next pack. I saw remove brainwashing in that last pack and I think there was a strategy for a while where we're playing like grinder golem with something like that. Does that work with lava golem? Could I lava golem remove brainwashing? I'll need to pull more lava golems. I think I have one from when my cousin friend brother quit. Gather your mind. A wide dragon. Hey, they want us to play the strategy. Spell shield type eight. Um, my body. Nothing really to write home about here. Barrel behind. Ooh, the cool uncensored version. Actually, the censored version looks way cooler. Uh, another apprentice magician is good for us. Berserk Dragon. The only zombie strategy I will not touch. That is not a good card. Next up, we got Dark Garoid. Very cool card. Gakugiri. different dimension gate. Uh, another Sakuratu if that I think that's our third one. Um, if we didn't already have it. Exodia Necros. I might pull this out [laughter] for fun during a playground episode later, but unfortunately all of the separate pieces of Exodia are limited and I can't play with those these this week. I can't. It's illegal. Pandemonium. Not a panda in sight. Sad. Halfway point. Skull Archi Fiend of Lightning. Didn't I pull like a billion of these when we opened Dark Crisis? I think I did. Um, I think that's it. Next up, another Dark Garoid. Um, contract with Exodia. We're getting closer to playing the strategy. Butterfly Dagger Elma and nothing else. Two magical merchants. What? All right. Another Exodia Necros. The The simulator is like, "Do it. Just threw it. Twothirds of the way through. Skilled dark magician. Actually wanted that. This might come in handy later. I'd like to pull another one or two. Or a bing bang shot. Big bang shots. Cool, too. Uh, Reichki break. Next up, big bang shot. [laughter] Oh, we haven't seen a necro valley. Okay, a quarter of the way to go. Another necro valley and a skilled dark magician would be fantastic. Or another pandemonium is cool, too. [laughter] Skilled White Magician. I think I already had one of these. There's no chance for playing Buster Blader, though. Fourth to last pack. They really They want us. They're calling for us, baby. But we didn't even pull any of the fusions, which are in this set, guys. I can't play. There's I didn't get the fusions. Second to last pack. Neker Valley. That's Koala and last pack magic. [laughter] How many pandemoniums did I pull? Okay, we got one ultra, five supers, three pandemonium, four Y dragon head. Um, I don't think there I don't think this changes anything. I'm gonna have to dig deep into my collection to find out what I can play on a playground episode with no access to limited or semi-limited cards. So, uh, let's see what I come up with. Okay, here is what we have for the fiend deck. We're playing a 50 card deck cuz we are required to play 28 monsters. Here are our monsters. It's a fiend basically purely fiend deck. Three arch fiend soldier, 1900 attack. Kuribo, the spice I played last time with the dark necrofar because when you get attacked, you just discard it. All of a sudden, you got three fiends in your graveyard. You summon dark necroar. The next turn it negates an attack. Is it good? No. But it is kind of funny if we're able to pull it off. Chaos Necromancer. Now, I'm not sure how this works with Mystic Tomato because it is zero attack in the deck. I guess I'm going to see if I can summon this if it's above 1500 with Mystic Tomato because it is a a dark. So, we can special summon one from the deck. It'd be really cool if we had like 10 monsters in the graveyard and then all of a sudden this thing is just massive coming in off of tomato. So, it's a target for that. If it can't come in off tomato, it's not as good, but we have a lot of monsters here. So, a lot of opportunity for a lot of monsters to be in the graveyard. Three giant germ. They can easily come in off of tomato, off of Sangan, and they bring out two more. They do burn, so they're pretty decent. Three Sangan because they're going to search most of the cards in our deck. We got two Night Asalent. Almost all this is Fiend. Mystic Tomato is a plant, but it does get a lot of the fiends. Slate Warrior, another fiend that's pretty awesome. It has a flip effect, has 1900 attack. Nudora, another target for Mystic tomato. That's pretty awesome. Can remove a card on the field. If we have to, we can crash and then target another monster uh or that monster. Dark Garoid, same thing. It can lower the attack. This can come in off of tomato as well. Three giant orc because these things are 2200 attack. One shadow arch fiend has a little bit of a downside. 900 points of life or life points every turn, but it's 2,000 attack. And of course, it's a fiend. We're finally getting to use the dark ruler Hades, which defeated us last time we used fiends. And I now have two of them. Though I actually have three, but I didn't want to play more than 28 monsters. And then the three of the boss monster, dark necro, which is pretty awesome and cool. And it's going to get summoned this episode, I am I believe. Okay, it's going to get summoned. We do have 50 cards, so it's going to be weird. Finally get to use our Raki. We got Harvey's feather duster, two Monster Reborn, three pot agreed, two change of heart, one heavy storm, one snatch deal just for the legendary quick panic. He loves this so much. Book of Moon. Uh I already sent his snatch deal on his way. He's going to love it. Uh Woku, Mirror Force. Finally get to use this cuz it's playground. Ring of Destruction, one torrential, two bottomless, a Rekki Break, Sakuretsu Armor, and two Phoenix Wingwind Blast. So, this should be a pretty fun episode. 50 cards is not ideal, but we get to play a lot of fiends. There's a lot of floaters, a lot of searching in our deck. Hopefully, it'll thin our deck pretty quickly. We end up getting to the good cards. Pot of Greed draws us more cards. It's not the worst way to have 50 cards. We got Sangan, we got Giant Germ, we got Mystic Tomato, we got Pot of Greeds. A lot of ways to get through the deck and get to the cards we want. All right, so this is what I came up with. I've talked about this concept a couple of times in the past where I like to play a Chaos Relinquish deck because the key cards Mju and Relinquished are light and dark and that synergizes well with Chaos Monsters. Today I am so scared of getting my cards stolen that I left all of my limited and semi- liimited cards at home. But since ban cards I can't use at the tournaments anymore, I don't feel scared about losing them. So I brought my band cards with me and all of my cards that are not limited in any way on the current October 2004 [music] ban list, something to that effect. At any rate, we are playing um lights and darks. I can play Witch of the Black Force and Sen right now uh and Mystic Tomato. I'm trying to make up for the fact that I don't have access to my normal guys like Breaker the Magical Warrior uh by playing some other good dark stuff that'll help us accelerate towards getting to other pieces of our combo. Um I'm running the newly added Kaiu the Ghost Destroyer just in case Rexen is on zombies or Chaos once again. Uh Blade Knight, he's a good guy. >> [laughter] >> DD Warrior Lady. She's a good gal. And then we've got three of the Mjus. We've got two Zaborgs. I added an extra one of these to my collection with one of my rewards a couple of weeks ago. And I've got three Chaos Sorcerer. Believe it or not, this guy was just untouched for a long time. So, this guy is at three currently in this current ban list. Um, I'm only running one Dark Hole because I'm running cards like Chaos Sorcerer and Zaborg. I feel like I'll be clearing the field with other means and I felt like it might be more necessary to run different cards. Um, so we have one Dark Hole just in case we need it and we've got one Ray Gekki. Uh, otherwise we've got some other crazy monster removal. I forgot that I have Harpy's Feather Duster. I don't I looked back and I was like, I wasn't playing this. Yeah, I've got Harpies, Feather Duster, and Graceful Charity currently banned. Same as Monster Reborn. And then Giant Trinade is unlimited. So, I'm running one of these. uh metamorphosis also unlimited which is crazy. Uh this is going to let us tribute off relinquished for thousand eyes strict which is kind of funny. Uh [music] or chaos sorcerer to go into something like a ryus ceni which can dodge trap cards. Um we've also got like zaborg which can go into fiend skull dragon which can dodge trap cards and monster flip effects. And we can also go into reaper on the nightmare if we'd like to pick some cards out of Rxen's hand. And then we've also got, you know, we nearly got Ojama King if we really want to. Um, we can met Metamorphosis off Chaos Sorcerer into Ojama King and lock up some spaces on the field, which is kind of interesting. I don't know if it'll come up. Then we've got, you know, the Black Illusion Rituals. We need to summon out Relinquish. We've got two Book of Moon. This acts as a defensive and an offensive card because we can activate Relinquished effect, suck up a monster, and then flip it face down. And if we didn't already summon it this turn, we can just flip it back face up and take another monster. [music] Um, it can also help us dodge some other cards like Snatch Steel. We've got Enemy Controller just in case I want to like suck something up with Relinquished and then like tribute it off to take another monster to get a light or a dark into the graveyard rather uh to special summon Chaos Sorcerer. I don't know. It's it's also an offensive and defensive card. Playground episodes are notorious for like really high power levels, so I always like to run three Waboku here. Uh, Mirror Force is banned, which means I get to use one here. And then I got two copies of Sakuratu armor for defense. Okay. Um, I've been wanting to play this deck for a bit. Let's see how it goes. >> We're on the playground. >> Oh, I had a revelation. A dark one. How about you? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, I also had a dark revelation. It's kind of weird. >> You know what my revelation was? My revelation was somebody could come to the playground and just steal my cards. So, I I have left >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I have left all of my limited and all of my semi- liimited cards at home just in case. [laughter] >> No. >> But we're on the playground, so I brought all of my band cards. No problem. >> Easy peasy. I can't use them at the tournament anyway. >> Okay. All right. So, you can't use semi- liimited or limited, but you can use banned. >> Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I I was just so scared that my semi- liimited and limited cards would be stolen. [laughter] >> Yeah. Yeah. Not your B. I mean, you can't use those, so >> Well, I can't use the ban cards at the tournament anyway, so who cares if they get stolen? >> Yeah. So, like, if they get stolen, it's not really a big deal. Yeah, it's not a very good point. >> You get me. You understand? >> Yeah, I get it. I I you know, I actually decided What was the exact name here? >> You're just You're just playing cards on my first turn. >> Wait, time out. Time out. I forgot what we're [laughter] doing. Um, I was too two in two in the moment. I told you I have been saying you're scared somebody's gonna steal your cards. You can't even play straight. >> We're all scared. >> I actually This is a real thing. >> Yeah, I I'm out of it, guys. So, look, if I make misplays normally, you know, it's my fault.
