Video summary
The video introduces a straightforward twenty-minute jump rope routine designed to be performed three times per week as an effective strategy for shedding body fat and building a lean physique. The instructor explains that while he previously emphasized high-frequency intense workouts, his methodology has shifted toward the understanding that exercise volume is less critical than maintaining a calorie deficit through proper nutrition. By combining this specific jump rope session with bodyweight exercises and strict dietary control, individuals can achieve significant results without needing to overtrain or burn excessive calories through prolonged cardio sessions.
A central argument presented throughout the transcript is that weight loss failures often stem from an obsession with exercise rather than a failure to manage food intake. The speaker warns against the common mistake of trying to "work off" unhealthy eating habits by adding extra workouts, noting that this approach rarely works because it distracts people from addressing their actual caloric surplus. He advocates for focusing on specific macros and avoiding processed sugars and alcohol, which he identifies as major contributors to inflammation and bloating. The core message is clear: achieving a shredded look requires consistency in eating real food and avoiding overeating, rather than relying on shortcuts or extreme exercise regimens.
The workout itself involves twenty minutes of continuous jumping with short rest intervals, aiming for approximately two thousand jumps total. The instructor demonstrates various techniques such as freestyle skipping, boxer skips, heel-toe movements, and weighted rope exercises to engage the upper body, emphasizing that form matters more than perfection. He notes that even a shorter duration like twenty minutes can be highly efficient if performed with intensity, and he encourages viewers to breathe through their nose and out their mouth while maintaining a low center of gravity. The session is framed not just as physical exertion but also as a mental exercise in staying present and disciplined, regardless of external factors like humidity or lighting conditions that might affect how one's body looks at different times of the day.
Ultimately, the video concludes by reinforcing that sustainable fat loss is a gradual process that does not happen overnight, urging viewers to avoid obsessing over daily fluctuations in weight caused by hydration or salt intake. The instructor shares his personal experience of losing ten pounds by simply cutting out alcohol and processed foods while maintaining consistency with his routine. He invites audiences to explore further resources for workouts and nutrition guidance, but the primary takeaway remains that getting shredded is about doing less unnecessary exercise and significantly more mindful eating. By following this balanced approach of moderate, high-intensity jump rope sessions three times a week alongside a clean diet, anyone can build an amazing physique with low body fat without needing to sacrifice their quality of life or social activities entirely.

If you're serious about losing body fat,
jump rope like this three times per week
straight up. We're going to do 20
minutes of jump rope. I'm going to do
I'm going to be using my skip counter.
So, I'm going to go for 2,000 jumps,
which you don't need to worry about cuz
the timer's on there. And you can just
jump along with me. Um, but we're going
to do 20 minutes of jump rope. So, it's
essentially going to be 45 seconds of
just freestyling and 15 seconds off. I
made another video talking about [music]
that if you just do this three times per
week with some body weight exercises in
a calorie deficit, you can build an
amazing physique [music]
uh with a very low body fat percentage.
Get your jump rope. All right, y'all.
Just go ahead and follow along with me.
Now, recently, I've been getting into uh
working out less. you know, uh, I
really, if you go back a lot on this
channel, I was really stressing the
importance of doing like five
highintensity workouts per week. And my
methodology has kind of changed on that
because I just don't think you need to
do that level of exercise in order to
build a lean and muscular physique
because
whether you like it or not, it's mostly
going to do with food and your ability,
sorry, to create [music] a calorie
deficit or not. The time's going to be a
little bit off, but just just follow
along with me, okay? Just go just go
along with me. Um, I'm gonna start
jumping
on the minute every minute. Um,
but yeah, guys, uh, weight loss is not
about doing more. It's actually about
doing less and not overeing.
I think there's a a tendency that when
people want to lose weight, they're
like, "Okay, dude. I just ate a bunch of
food over the weekend. I'm going to work
out five times this week and I'm going
to burn it all off. They don't pay
attention to their eating. And then
they're like, "Dude, I'm not losing
weight. It must be my my body or my
genetics." And then they give up and
they still feel frustrated.
The better way to think about that is
I'm overweight. I want to lose some body
fat. The first thing I should do is get
my eating down. Specifically,
oh, I'm already out of breath.
specifically my calories and macros.
Let's do a little flex. Poor lighting,
but we're good.
Specifically, my calories and [music]
macros, meaning dude, just go to my
fitness, my I have a nutrition
calculator I'll link in the description
of this video. Um, but using that you
can figure out how much exactly you need
to eat to lose weight and it'll tell you
uh grams of protein, fat, carbs, etc.
Come on, speed it up here as we go.
Since we're only doing 20 minutes, we
want to try to be as efficient and as
intense as possible. Come on.
go and try to Okay, so try to go at my
pace because
100 skips takes me about 40 seconds and
some of you might not be using a skip
counter, which is fine. Um, just follow
along with me and try to go up my tempo,
okay? [music] But dude, I'm already out
of breath.
Doesn't take long. Here we go.
I mostly just do freestyle, boxer skip,
some heel toe, some regular. You can
just do regular the whole time, by the
way.
Keep that rope tight and keep it
spinning, though. Elbows in and let the
wrist move it around.
Come on. I'm basically just trying to
get 100 as fast as I can and then I'm
going to rest.
Good. All right. 36 seconds for that.
The older I get, the more I'm realizing
weight loss is about,
it's going to sound corny, but it's more
about like being in the present moment
and realizing you don't need anything.
Like your body is burning calories.
You don't need to work out more. Just
don't eat so much. That's the thing that
gets people in trouble.
>> Come on.
[music]
>> I know this is a jump rope channel, but
I will talk a lot more about food if you
guys would like me to. Um, I personally
have been on a [music] really not strict
diet because I don't believe in dieting,
but I've been really focused on not
overeating so that I can lose 10 10ish
pounds of body fat. I'm already 7 lbs
down from what I was. So,
consistency, dude.
Flex up.
Ah, still got to get rid of a little bit
of pudge around here. These are my my
beer calories right here.
Too many days surfing. Cracking Coronas
after. I'll tell you what, man. If you
want to [music] get shredded, go again.
Nothing. As soon as I stop, like even if
it's a little bit, just a little bit of
alcohol. Like I don't I don't get
smashed. I don't drink that much, but
like one thing I noticed
when I stop eating processed sugar and
cut out the alcohol, I get lean so fast.
And I think that's just due to the
inflammation. Like if you're eating a
bunch of ice cream and cake and chips
and you're drinking booze, you're just
going to feel bloated and crappy. Like
it's just it's not worth it if your goal
is weight loss. Now
I want to I like having fun, dude. I
don't think there's anything wrong with
meeting up with some friends, having
some beers, but like you don't need to
do it every Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
You can do it like once a month or twice
a month, have a couple beers. But if
your real if your goal is actually
losing weight and getting more fit, you
don't need to do this like every like
you don't need to be drinking every
single day, dude. Um I know a lot of Oh
[ __ ] Sorry. [snorts]
Now we got to go.
I say that because sometimes people tell
me they want to get a six-pack or they
want to lose weight and they're like,
"Well, how do I lose weight, but like I
don't want to give this up or I don't
want to do that many jump rope
workouts." I'm like, "Okay, dude. That's
not how this works." It's like, if you
want to achieve the goal, then you're
going to have to [ __ ] do what I'm
telling you and be consistent. Excuse my
French, but I honestly think most people
or a lot of people are just looking for
shortcuts to everything in their life.
And it's like, dude, or they want to be
like, I don't want to give up my old
habits. Um, but I want to get I want to
get the result. It's like, no, this is
what you do to get the result. That's
it.
Okay, we're at 700 skips. 7 minutes in.
We got 1,300 more.
Come on. Turn to the side so you guys
can see my form. Nice and low to the
ground. Elbows are in.
Of course, don't worry about mess ups.
Still do it clearly.
In through the nose, out to the mouth
when you're breathing.
Good. Come on.
Sprint the last 20.
Try to keep up with my tempo. Come on.
Good. By the way, crossroppe.com/jared.
My favorite rope for losing weight.
You don't think this is a heavy rope.
These he these handles are a little bit
heavy. And the quarter pound on this
thing, dude. You start swinging a little
bit, you feel like you're doing
pull-ups. Get a upper body workout. Here
we go.
Come on, keep it moving.
Also, I'm not going to be able to I have
a lot of computer work to do today, so I
know I'm not going to be able to get my
steps in. So, this is my steps.
jumping rope.
Actually, I wonder how many steps I'm
doing when I jump rope. That'd be a good
metric to figure out because
like I don't think you need to be doing
30 minutes of jump rope and then 10k
steps cuz like these these are the
steps, dude. Right here.
Here we go.
Oh, got to start on the nine. Here we
go. Come on.
Almost halfway through.
That's what I like about jump rope. It
feels like I am kind of doing a pull-up
workout or swimming, you know? And I
think for guys, we're we're all really
obsessed with creating that lean like
V-shaped physique. And I think weighted
jump rope is a great tool to get you
there. Come on.
Good.
Okay.
Guess I could be doing more skips, but
I'm trying to do 2,000 skips in 20
minutes.
So, a little extra rest, but also push
yourself during when we're actually
jumping. So,
you know, you're you you can feel
justified taking a little rest. Here we
go. Halfway.
10 more minutes.
In through the nose, out through the
mouth.
Swing kick.
I don't know about where you guys live,
but it's been pretty hot here, which
normally it's not too hot at the beach
or it's there's at least, you know, but
it's been kind of humid. And I know the
East Coast of the US where I'm from is
really humid right now.
New York's getting they had a crazy
storm a few days ago.
One thing I will say, which I totally
have body dysmorphia, is my body looks
so much different when I wake up in the
morning. I look so much more ripped cuz
you're all dehydrated
versus I just went for a surf so I drink
electrolytes and I have a bunch of salt
in my system. So, I feel like I always
look a little bit more uh not pudgy, but
like not as snatched, you know, later in
the day. But that's another thing to to
remember.
Depending on the lighting, uh the time
of day, if you've just eaten or not,
your body could look, you know, 5 to 10
lbs different. So, don't be so obsessed
with, oh, I'm weigh 200 lb.
You know, you might you might look good
in the morning, then you might be like,
"Dude, why do I look weird after I drink
a water?" Don't worry about it. The goal
is to just continually and gradually
lose body fat. Nothing is going to
happen in like a day or two days. You
got to stay consistent.
Here we go.
Good. Good work. Come on.
Ah,
sprint.
Keep going.
Good. Good. Good. 700 left. We got 20
seconds of rest.
This workout's kind of turning into more
of a
sprint for like 30 seconds and [music]
then rest, which is good. Which is good.
Go ahead.
A shoot. You guys go. Keep jumping.
>> [snorts]
>> Come on.
Little A-frame
shuffle
swing kick.
[snorts]
Run in place.
Twister,
straddle,
and sprint. Good. Let make sure this
thing's [music] still on.
Oh, thank goodness.
Thank goodness. So frustrating when it
just turns off, dude,
because of the heat.
All right,
we're almost there. We got six minutes
left.
Come on. Come on. Sprint the last 20.
Good.
Dude, people think 20 minutes isn't even
hard. Yo, I'm dying.
This is hard.
You don't need to jump rope for hours,
man.
If your goal is to look good and feel
good, you don't even need to exercise
that much. It's just the truth. You just
have to not overeat and just eat real
goddamn food.
Go.
Let's hit five doubles if you can. Here
we go.
Three, four, five. Good.
[snorts]
Big plane
scissors.
sprint.
Good, y'all.
Four minutes and then I got to get out
of the sun, dude. I have not [music]
I have not been wearing sunscreen.
You know, it's like I'm lecturing you
about your health. I'm out here not even
wearing sunscreen, right? What's that
what's that all about?
Well, I don't really think you need that
much sunscreen to be honest, but that's
a topic for a different day.
The body was meant to absorb the sun.
That's what we're built for. [music]
Can't be covering your body in chemicals
all the time. Now, sometimes if you're
in the sun for long periods of time,
which today I should have put more on.
I'm going to be honest, but
you don't need to cover yourself from
the sun every minute you're in it.
Sprint.
Oh my god.
3 minutes.
>> [music]
>> I'm just always checking the cam because
sometimes it'll shut off if it gets
overheated.
[music]
Give me another one. Yeah, that's right.
Here we [music] go. Go ahead.
Come on, [music]
let's get it
[music] and
sprint.
Two more minutes.
Two more minutes
and it's time to eat.
Good work. Check out the Jared inner
circle. jump rope dudes.tv. If you're
looking for more workouts [music] to
help yourself lose body fat, that's the
place to go, man. Go ahead.
Come on. Come on. And keep that rope
moving fast. Don't give up yet. We're
not done. Sprint.
Good.
What do you say?
100 more.
100 more
and then we done.
Oh, I can't spin the rope. Okay, go
ahead.
In through the nose, out through the
mouth.
360.
All right, let's sprint the rest. Come
on.
Good job, guys. That's it. Nothing left
to say. That's a tough workout. 20
minutes is all you really need. Be sure
