What's up, guys? Welcome back to the channel. So, episode one of Band of Brothers was an incredible, incredible episode. It really set everything up and introduced us to a lot of these characters, but now we're going to be dropping behind enemy territory in France and Normandy and >> everything we trained for in episode one. >> Yeah, but you can't train for this. >> You can't. >> Guys, this is going to be a very heavy episode. We already know, man. Um, unless there's another delay, but I guess the timeline wouldn't add up. But anyways, man, this is going to be a very heavy episode. Um, almost hard to watch. So, just do our best to get through it with us, guys. But I'm anticipating a very bloody, painful, heartbreaking episode, and there's only 10 episodes. This is obviously real life, guys. This is as real as it gets telling these stories. There's 10 episodes. So, I'm expecting a lot of a lot of characters to die, honestly. Those are always the best >> camaraderie. >> Like in Forest Gump when they're just walking that those are the best scenes, you know. >> Yeah. >> Standing in the door, I could see the lights on the drop zone and I had to assume that was our drop zone way in the ahead of us and uh so that uh we had I had the red light and had everybody standing up ready to jump. So when the plane started to get hit and suddenly the pilot gives me the green light, I'm out the door immediately. >> Got such an opening blast from the >> Maybe that was >> shock from the prop blast that it broke this chin strap that we had on this helmet liner and uh that's when I lost this famous leg bag that everybody talks about just from the shock of the opening. It just flew right off my foot. >> We Oh wow. >> came from the sky. We hit and in any direction you went there would be enemy. You knew it. And uh that was all part of what you accepted. >> How do you prepare yourself mentally? Each man must do that himself. Each man must prepare himself mentally to uh to make that jump. >> In the back of your mind, you you you know you you wonder what's going to happen and all that. You know, you uh you've been trained and trained and trained what you what your job is going to be and what you're supposed to do. Easy company's capture of the German battery became a textbook case of an assault on a fixed position and is still demonstrated at the United States Military Academy at West Point today. Pretty impressive. >> I think it should. >> That was insane. That was honestly one of the best hours of TV I've ever seen. Honestly, that was like easily a top five. Like for sure. >> All right. So, I think I've expressed at this point how incredible that was to me. But babe, what did you think about that? >> I thought that was shot beautifully, but and also it was shot so stressfully. >> Oh my gosh. Yeah. And also I was thinking about it like the way the cameraman had to shoot Winters the way he was running they had to like be running backwards like with the >> camera shaking and it was just like if you think about it they had to use a lot of creative minds to make it feel as stressful as it came out. >> It does I mean they don't do that weird trick with the shutter speed like they did in Saving Private Ryan but it does remind me of that movie a lot. Yeah. Um, yeah, I think this show is an incredible show about a lot of harrowing men who uh or about a lot of men who had to like take on a harrowing task and it's about the bravery and the selfishness and the sacrifice and like none of that's lost on us, right? >> Yeah. >> Um, we're a little old. If you are new here, guys, we're a little older than we look. Some people think we're in our 20s, but we're we're not. We're approaching our mid-30s. So, um, we definitely have an appreciation for that. But I think other like I said other than the the brotherhood in the show, the thing that really gets me so much is just like the lighting in this show. It's beautiful. Like even when Winters was walking as he was walking and it showed him looking across and seeing all the fighting >> like they even like wet the street so that way the key light would hit the street and like cast a shadow. Like it's just so well done. It's It's beautiful, but >> in such a crazy time to say something's beautiful. >> It's so weird how death and destruction and carnage and just like uh >> you know the war machine turning like it like it's doing in the show. It's it's incredible how you know you can find beauty in it. But just in terms of like film and art, I think it I think that like >> you know you try to capture these moments that happen in real life on camera and it's really hard to do that. Um, but I think the show's doing a really good job of it. And I think that in real life, it was probably so much more dramatic than the show. But I do think the show is giving it a hell of an effort to try to capture that. And I appreciate that. >> I was thinking about it. Just imagine being in a situation where you're hearing gunshots around, but you're not even reacting to them cuz there's just so many. >> Only the only ones that get you are the close proximity explos. just like when you're in a situation where uh a multiple gunshots don't even make you flinch. I think that's just like the ultimate like most terrifying situation you can be in. >> Yeah. Yeah. Life's just funny, man. Life's just funny cuz like, you know, we have our own different lives now. Like, here we are. It's a completely different year. Like, if we would have been born at a certain point in time, this would have been our life, you know? And it's just crazy how life's never tested us this way, >> you You know, I mean, life's going to have its test for sure, but I feel like the tests we go through for the most part are going to be a pretty universal experience for most people in our generation. You know, like we're going to lose our parents eventually. You know, Lord forbid something might happen to one of us or something, but people go through that. But, >> you know, trying to jump off one of these planes with a parachute while getting shot simultaneously while the straps that are holding you are getting hit with gunfire. I mean, you know, people probably fell from the parachutes just because gunfire hit and tore up their parachutes. >> Yeah. What if there was like I'm sorry this is so random but what if there was an AI generated video of like all the war movies like and they came together because when I saw the tanks I was like what if Brad Pitt's uh little crew pulls up and then I was thinking like you know like Unsaving Private Ryan how >> oh like every war movie was just like in its own universe and they all like Avengers collab >> they always pick like one specific part of the war to focus on so it's just like you kind of put them all together Hanks everyone from That's Yeah, I know. >> Yeah, I know. But I don't know. I was just thinking about that >> little green soldiers from Toy Story show up. [laughter] >> Yeah, >> but it's just crazy because, you know, we've seen a bunch of different World War II move movies and this is our first show, but just it would be interesting to see. I guess >> two thoughts I have. The first thought, um, what's his name? Soil. Is it Soel or Soel? >> Yeah. Um, I really missed the character because I thought that the character was portrayed very well in terms of like the actor. Um, but I did kind of have a lot of empathy for him at first because, you know, it was my first time watching the show. So, in my mind, I'm thinking this guy right here really cares about his men, but it's the ultimate tough love. Like, he understands his attention to detail. You know, we understand that this is going to be the difference between life and death. and I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I think in hindsight I realized that this guy was sort of just anal and like he just didn't do a good job relating to his men and I really like Winters. I'm not going to demonize the guy though. I mean, I don't think he's like a piece of [ __ ] person. He shouldn't be in prison or nothing. But looking back, I think Soel's character was phenomenal. I miss him in this episode. I feel like we could have this No, no, no. Actually, this episode was perfect. There's nothing I would change, but I do miss him. I hope we get to see what he's up to. I hope that the character comes back in the show. It's only 10 episodes. >> I think for sure we're going to We have to >> I had one more thought. I just can't remember what it was, but it was really good. It was my favorite thought and I forgot it. >> Oh, even though this was honestly one of the most horrific things that we've ever witnessed in a TV show or on, you know, in in TV or cinema, I didn't come away feeling depressed. I felt >> hopeful and I felt like I was around like >> people I care about and family and optimistic and I felt like it's all going to be okay. cuz I think it's called Banda Brothers and in a way that sounds like a positive thing like >> people banded together. >> They band together literally like it's what holds them together. Yeah. So just a camaraderie >> and Winter's looking off and then saying that statement about you know if I make it out of this that's what I'm going to do. >> Yeah. >> It made it feel hopeful. >> I just like the fact that for the first time I I saw someone really looking forward to the future >> in that scene because >> um >> it'd be easy to think about death in that scene. It would be easy to be like, "Well, here it is. I'm like, >> oh, you're thinking there's a 99.9% chance I'm not making it out of this." >> Yeah. Like, you just got to hope whoever you have overseas is going to be okay. >> And they and they called it I love the way he described it. He called it the day of days. >> Yeah. >> You know, like at the time they obviously didn't have >> they called it D-Day plus one. So, it's like any day after that is just an extra day. >> Yeah. >> That you're here. Back then though, they didn't really have like the hindsight and the perspective to be able to like, you know, make an entity, you know, like when a day is that infamous, it like really develops an identity and becomes its own entity in a way. But like when you're living through it, you don't really see it that way until like, you know, >> um, you know what I'm saying? Kind of like World War II. >> They didn't call World War I World War I, for example, because it was just the first one, you know? >> So, yeah, just an incredible episode, guys. But I don't really have anything else to say at this point because I think I'll just be blabbering. But um hopefully you guys enjoyed the reaction. I cannot express enough how thankful I am that I don't have to do that. Um it is not lost on me, man. I love the life I live. I understand that the life I live has been built off the broken backs of millions of people at this point. >> And 95% of them didn't even make it just in that one like battle. >> Right. I feel like because of things like this, uh I don't have entitlement. That's one thing is we're not entitled people over here. Uh we ask that you guys like our videos and all that stuff and you know continue to support the channel and that means a lot to us but entitlement is just something that we don't relate to in this house and um and it's because of people like this. Like they weren't even entitled to touch the ground before they got killed. So watching stuff like this is just good for you because it really puts stuff into perspective. And it's also when you watch things like this it makes it hard to have a bad day. >> Yeah. >> You know what I'm saying?
