Crazy Field of Agate Seams!

Hello and welcome back to the Rugged Rockhound. We don't have a lot of time, so this is probably going to be a shorter video. We came onto the other side of Burnt Creek, so we were way up in there. And up in that area is where we found the first amethyst seam in Burnt Creek. And then there were a few things down here, not really anything over here. We are now on this side, we've never been on this side. We started to see some white in this hill, so we thought, let's give it a shot. That does look like bird droppings. But this might be something else, so let's go ahead and just take a look and see if there's anything. In case we do find something, here's the GPS coordinates to where we are currently parked. Let's just see. Let's see if this hill's got anything for us. I think it does. I think it's got a few things on it. We're just at the bottom, and already you can see little bits of agate everywhere. Nice, huh? Currently just little bits of clear, that's all I've seen, but we just barely got past the limestone in the valley to the edge here. Do they get good size? I really think those lighter colored things are some of this agate in bigger pieces. Yeah, these Most of these I've seen do seem to have banding. It's very faint, though. It's not a strong banding. But there is a lot of it here, isn't there? A lot of agate. >> [snorts] >> Yeah, most of it's just going to be clear. That's kind of what I was expecting. But if I can get a few that have some cool stuff going on, then that's worth it. Some white there, so we should see some waterline and hopefully some good banding, really strong banding. And they're getting bigger. Now that we're really at the foothills Oh, there's a big one right there. I got this big one right here. Can't tell if there's really anything going on in that. See, I I almost didn't see that one when I went and picked this one up, but that's when I saw this one. I mean, they look like they're clear, but they probably are mostly clear. >> Uh rabbit there? >> Oh. He's just sitting right there. He's not even not like really even scared that we're here. He goes. Yeah, they're getting much bigger now. >> Look at this one. >> Question is, are we getting anything inside of them? >> This is just kind of got a blue tint to it. >> Oh, there you go. But it's big. >> But it's big, yeah. >> Yeah. We're probably going to have to go through a lot of clear before we find the good ones. Lots of clear. It really is all over. I mean, I'm seeing it everywhere. Oh, see, we got a little bit going on there. Maybe some waterline. But I'll leave that cuz they'll probably be bigger ones that got banding or waterline. Like I said, we could see some big white ones up there. Oh, look at that. I think I'll head toward that. Allen's got this side right now, so let's go check that over there. Ooh, what's hiding under there? Let's take a closer look. That's got a quartz pocket in the middle. All right. Well, quartz pocket in the middle, so you might get a good geode at some point. Well, this one has got waterlines definitely, and along the edge a little bit of banding. There we go. I thought we'd get a few good ones. Hopefully bigger. As I'm getting closer, I'm kind of concerned that's not what I was hoping, but there's still plenty of good stuff. Here's this one cut open. I can definitely tell the waterline. And there [clears throat] it goes. Oh, it's very white. Nice waterline. And it is definitely not what I was hoping. Calcite, basically. Okay, well, let's work back this way. I'm not getting as much cassid in here, so we'll head back over this way. And I see what? I don't see another little one there. That's different. And that's mostly calcite. Okay. But plenty of pieces all through here. Plenty. Again, that one's mostly calcite. So, these are just seams that are just all crisscrossing all over the place. So, many like that. It's a bigger one. Anything going on further in? Ooh, maybe. Got some banding. Okay, yeah. That That one's worth taking. So, if we can get more that are like that, where there's a good chance for something nice, that's what we want to see. All right, I see a few more right here. That one, which I can already see band waterline. And then that one. Throw those down there. Oh, yeah. Banding and waterline. That's cool. And you? Ah, it's going to be quartz crystals toward the center. All All Definitely getting better. Here's this one cut open. Looks like it should have some banding. Oh, it sure does. Wow. Okay, tons of banding. And it's got those little specks. They're like little areas of nucleation where it like grew some kind of mineral whether or not it was calcined or something else. Another one with some decent banding. It is just all through here. This is a good spot cuz there's a lot. Ooh, very white right there. We'll have to work our way up to that. But yeah, see they're just all through here. Ooh, that's got good banding. Nice. What about you? Do you have good banding? It's a couple pieces. It does. Oh, that's the center of it right there. That would have been a pocket. Cool. Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Look how much there is. It's really all through here. There. Huh, this rounded thing probably just volcanic. But you know, the round shape makes me want to look closer. Yeah, okay, just volcanic. Okay, yeah, this place is littered with seams. Just tons of them. Tons. It's all about finding the good ones though. Good size piece of right there. Come on, something nice, banding or otherwise. >> [sighs] >> Okay, there's a little pocket there. Just a few bands. Not much. I think I'll leave that one, but that's good size. Do like that. Sure do. A lot of them are still so covered with red and I'm I'm a hard time spotting them. There's just so much. Oh, see some waterline in that. That's probably good. There's the white thing. Bah. Not what we're looking for. Kind of like a whitish opal. Here's this one cut open. Oh, yep. Waterline. That's decent. There's a big one. Let's go take a closer look at that thing. Oh, there's one right there, too. All right. Let's do this one first. All right. What's the quartz in the middle? Oh, that's where calcite used to be. And this bigger one. All right. That looks like it's going to be just mostly clear. Oh, look. Another big one. Just all over. Again, I think that one's just going to be clear. But, it's big. Oh, nope. Don't want to turn the camera off just yet. Something hiding right there. That might be good. Oh, yeah. It's got some waterline and some banding. All right. Yep. Put that with the rest. That's looking good there. Wow, what a nice little spot. I really want to wasn't expecting this to be really good here. This area is so abundant. I might as well just leave the camera on. There's one. Big one. What's it like inside? Can't really tell, but from what I can see, it does look like it's going to be mostly clear. Stuff there. But, that looks like a nice big one to take a closer look at. You know it's going to be quartz toward. Oh, my goodness. I think it's still attached to the rock. That might be a little bit of work to get it off. All right, let me get my hand pick out and I'm going to work at it and see if I can get it off. So, this is going to be a challenge. At first glance, it's like, "Whoa, big nodule." But, it's actually this is all seam. If you look closely at it, all of the pieces that are coming out are seam. So, I've got a large section of it and then I I don't know how big it is further down. So, it's just seams kind of going in and out. So, I think maybe we'll take just a bit of a break. Look around at some of these other ones. They're just big pieces all over. Everywhere. Just everywhere. I'm trying to find ones that have something nice going on inside of them. A little bit of banding. Not sure beyond that. Let's throw it down in the pile. All right. Want to look at some of this stuff right here. It's a whole bunch right here. Whole bunch. Okay. Uh calcite. I'll pass on that. Uh Get some interesting seam here. That is opal. Pretty much just white, unfortunately. But, interesting. There's a bigger piece right there. Ooh. >> [snorts] >> Might have a little bit going on. Toss it back in the pile. Or at least close to it. A little bit on that one. I don't see anything on that one. Yeah, it is everywhere. Just everywhere. Seams everywhere. That That is this spot. It is seams everywhere. Those look pretty good, don't they? We've got this one that looks kind of Yeah, good-looking. That's nice and big. Okay, I think that's going to have at least a quartz pocket toward the center. Yes. Oh, quartz in the middle as well. Yes. A little bit of banding. Not on that side, but on that side. Hmm. Look at all of it, huh? >> [snorts] >> And they're probably just going to keep getting bigger as I go higher. I think I see a really big one there. Tons right there. Bunch all through here. Wow. All right, here we go. We're just going to leave the camera on and we're just going to see all this amazing stuff. Boom. Big. Okay, I like that one. Put that in that pile. Well, well. >> [laughter] >> I know it's there. It's a nice big one. Little stuff everywhere. Everywhere. Okay, that looks mostly clear. That's a better-looking one right there. Yeah, we got some nice stuff going on there. Oh, that's where it's coming off. So, that edge part is actually really nice. All right. These will actually fit in the pocket, so I'll put them in the pocket. That's a big chunk, isn't it? A lot of calcite, though. I'm going to say that's mostly calcite. Don't want that. It's just It's kind of overwhelming cuz there's so much. So, I'm trying to focus on larger and higher quality. It's just a thinner piece. All right. There was that bigger one over here somewhere. Let's wander that way. Yeah, see this is just like this It's like this shattered opal mix blast of Oh, there we go. Mostly calcite, never mind. A little bit of white opal on the edge and then mostly calcite. Yep. I'll pass on that. Okay. Is that going to be agate or is that going to be calcite? Hmm. Oh, that's the thing I saw, huh? That's just volcanic, never mind. This though very big and very much calcite. A little bit of agate here and there. Mostly calcite though. That's a seam I'm happy to leave. Looks like there's more of it right there. Whoa. It's died down a lot, hasn't it? So, we got a lot coming out right through there. But not all of it. There's still more. There's some. There's some. Okay, it's starting to pick back up again. Here's a larger one. Take a look. Well, no. Just thin ones. Lots of calcite again. Uh, too much calcite here. I wish there was a lot less calcite. A lot less. All right, it's dying down as we're going up here. So, definitely out there is where the better stuff has been coming out. But I do want to keep exploring around here. Allen's up there. I'm guessing he's found some good stuff. And maybe we'll venture over that way. Okay, back in the main zone. That's where I threw some of the good ones. The one I'm still working out is down there. But I see a bunch of big ones right in here. Let's see. You. Okay, that might have a little bit going on. All right, here. Mhm, quartz mostly. Okay, not much there. Oh, that's got a little bit of banding there and some calcite. We'll see about that banding. And it looks like we got a much bigger one right here. Yeah, look at that. Yep, quartz toward the middle. Unfortunately, I think that's all it's going to be. So, unless it has a pocket, mhm, feels too heavy to have an empty pocket. Yeah, I don't know. Don't know about that one. But so much of it all through here. Anyway, great. This little zone. So, from where we parked, it's just right [snorts] up. Straight up. Tons of stuff right in here. Here's this little piece of seam. Oh, interesting. There's a few little things going on in there. Here's this thing cut open. See the nice waterline and crystal pockets. Oh. Well, it did not continue through. Oh, well. Just on that end. Here's this look good looking one cut open. It's got a looks to be some banding. Oh, yeah, that's that's definitely some banding in there. Nice. Here's this one cut open. Should have waterline banding. Banding. Cool. Here's this one cut open. And nice waterline. Oh, yeah. And a good crystal pocket at the top. Nice. Here's this one cut open. Look at those waterlines. Okay. Oh. That's still very nice. So, we got water lying on the bottom part and then a large crystal zone. Looks nice though. Hey, we'll take that. Here's this one cut open. Looks like we should have some waterline. Nope. Oh, [snorts] just at the very edge of it. Most of it's just crystal, quartz crystal. Here's this one cut open. Oh, nice banding. Very nice banding. And a little bit of waterline. Here's this one cut open. Hoping it's more than just crystal. Oh, good. Okay, we got some waterline. Sweet. Well, I will take that. Here's this one cut open. I can see some banding, so Yes, the banding continues further in. Not a lot of banding in this one. But decent. And a few other things going on as well. Well, I was breaking it here and it was already cracked, so it came right off. And you can see it's a large seam going down. So, the seam kind of gets thick right here and then thin again. And it's getting really thick right in the middle there. That's really cool. I'm not going to try and get any more of it though. I'm just going to take this piece. That's cool though. At some point if I want to come up here with some better tools cuz that's all I brought. I mean, I'm not far, but we just had a big hike earlier in the day, so that's a lot of work for me right now. We'll just leave that. Maybe somebody else will come out and pull it out, and who knows? It could be really cool. Or maybe I'll come back. I don't know. But we got a bunch of piles through here that I want to go through, get them all piled up, pick the best stuff I like from here, and then I want to explore a little more. Alan's already gone up that way. Yeah. I'm really hoping there's a larger piece that is something like this. See that quartz pocket? Beautiful. Waterline at the bottom. Beautiful. If we could just get something bigger, and hopefully one of those bigger ones has something cool going on, that'll be great. It's just so much. I've had to go really slow. Like these are all ones I'm going to add to the pile. And right here, something big, something smaller, but also potentially good. Not that. Yep, I can see banding. Not a lot, but enough to put in the pile. And it just It just is everywhere. Like there, that's one right there. Yeah, I don't see anything in that one. Yeah, it is just just You really have to go slow. All right, I don't know if it got recorded. Um Alan came back, and he found a a seam. It's mostly white, but it's got a few colors in it. Kind of reminds us of that big agate seam that was over in Antelope Canyon. That was mostly white and other things, but there were a few that were really nice. He grabbed a few pieces. He said it's just right up over this. So, I'm going to just kind of go up there and grab maybe a few pieces, but I'm probably going to keep a lot of this, cuz that's probably going to be some nice stuff. >> [snorts] >> Anyway, I'm going to head up over there and see what it looks like. So, as you come through here, it does keep going. I occasionally get these pieces that are quite nice where they got that faint faded blue. But, we also got some back there. It's just neat to see it keep going. Made it to the seam we talked about. Piece there. Piece [snorts] there. Big piece there. Whole bunch. Yeah, it really looks like that other one. Yeah, look how big they get. Another big seam. Not nearly as the other seams good Huh. Not nearly as good as the other seams. But, it's just neat to have one that's easy access. It's really close. So, for those who can't do long hikes, this is really close to the road. Good amount of reasonably good stuff. There's another piece of it. More pieces of it. Yeah. Very nice. I was just going to come and grab a few pieces that I really liked the look of and then head back. Too tired to at this point in the day to grab much. Oh, there's a big one. Big one. Okay, it looks like it's just coming out in here, not so much over here. Great. Oh, there's a That looks pretty good. Okay, that's That's probably going to be my piece. That's pretty big. We'll take that back. All right, I've changed my mind. So, this is relatively clear, right? Oh, no, that looks good. >> [gasps] >> Okay, so there's these pieces that look like more like this and the ones that look like this. Let's take that one and that one, so we got a little of each and we'll get a a feel for it. Okay, here's this dark looking piece of seam. Oh. It looks similar to other seam we've had. There's a little bit of amethyst in there though. That's nice. Yeah, it is it is very similar to other things we've seen. But it is a nice piece. All right, here's this monster piece. Look at the end. Oh. Ooh, that's some nice amethyst. Well now. Right through the core of that. I really like the color in the amethyst. I like the color better than the previous spot we were at. Just wish it was more but that's still really good. And head back down to the vehicle. Wow, wasn't here very long at all, maybe an hour. And the others are ready to go. I don't blame them. We're We're all pretty tired after a long day of two videos. So, you just park right there. You walk straight at the hill. This zone is where it has the highest concentration but there's stuff all the way through there and then up and over is that seam which I'm not sure how that's going to turn out so you'll have seen it cut already so you'll know whether or not that seam's a good seam. But the stuff in front I'm hoping we'll get some good pieces with waterline banding or maybe a quartz crystal pocket. I'm hoping for at least a few of those.
