Video summary
The video documents the complete DIY transformation of a messy room into a custom-built closet over the course of four months. The creator begins by showing the space as a chaotic construction site filled with piles of clothes and undecorated walls, explaining that he has been living without a proper closet for nine months while prioritizing his office renovation first. He outlines his ambitious goal to finish the project before his birthday, acknowledging the financial benefits of doing the work himself despite the high cost of materials. Throughout the process, he shares updates on installing base cabinets, adding specialized cubbies for shoes and hats, and integrating extensive LED lighting systems that illuminate every nook and cranny, including under-cabinet toe kicks and recessed lights in the upper sections.
A significant portion of the build involves the meticulous craftsmanship required to create custom drawers from scratch, a task the creator admits was initially daunting but became easier as he gained experience. He details the process of wiring complex lighting circuits, organizing cables neatly behind face frames, and building precise wooden structures that fit together like a glove. The project also includes installing crown molding, adding a white marble tile backsplash that extends from floor to ceiling, and applying multiple coats of paint to match the room's walls. The creator emphasizes the importance of finishing touches such as sanding down wood filler, rounding off edges for safety, and masking off areas to ensure a professional-looking result despite the tight working conditions.
The final stages of the project involve mounting sliding doors with frosted plexiglass panels that allow light to pass through while maintaining privacy, installing hanging rods, and placing all hardware including handles and towel hooks. The creator expresses immense satisfaction with the finished product, noting that the bright white cabinetry and tiled walls make the room feel significantly larger and more luxurious than his previous closet. Although the project took longer than anticipated due to real-life interruptions and fatigue, he considers the result worth the effort, especially given the custom features like the integrated lighting and storage solutions. He concludes by officially moving into the new space, thanking his audience for following the journey, and inviting viewers to share their favorite parts of the build in the comments.

What is good, bubble squad, and welcome
to my closet. While we're here, let me
give you a little closet tour. Disregard
all my undies and my socks. We're just
going to step over all of this. We don't
even need to see that. But look at my
nicely hung shirts, my wellplaced shoes.
All right, let's disregard this whole
side of the room. Let me just step over
this giant pile of clothes right here.
No, this is not my closet, but yes, this
is how I'm going to be living throughout
the next month while I'm building my own
personal custom closet. The whole room
looks like a construction site, but this
is super exciting because if you've been
along with our channel, you remember the
closet that I built for my dearest wife,
Mariah. This whole closet is her
customuilt by Mwah. I did this closet
for Mariah like the first project that I
ever did when moving into this house.
But what I'm also not going to lie to
y'all about is I skipped doing my closet
cuz if you didn't see the office
renovation video that I did, I wanted to
get my office done. With that being
said, I've been living off the floor for
the past 9 months. We've been living in
our new house for Oh my gosh, Bob Squad,
where is the time going? It's been 9
months since we moved in. Not going to
lie, y'all are real ones for sticking
through this whole thing because I
appreciate every single one of you being
here. I don't think y'all are ready. 3 2
1
There's nothing done. It's totally
empty. It's an empty room right now.
Welcome to my closet. Let me give y'all
a tour. Here it is. There is literally
nothing in here. Not even the old
original closet shelving that was put in
here when we built the house. And if you
know me, you know I love mapping out my
projects before we start doing them.
Y'all, this is what it's going to look
like. So, without further ado, thank you
all so much for watching. Please watch
this video all the way through. That is
what helps for me to pay for all this
material for this closet cuz it's not
going to be cheap, but I am doing it
myself. So, we're saving money. All
right, so I just installed both bases.
This is going to be like the first step
to building on top of this. This is
going to hold all the weight. And you
can see by all of these cutouts, there's
going to be three drawers. One there,
one here, and then the other one right
here. So, let's go get those drawers
installed. Right now, this is the top.
That's literally going to cover
everything up. And this is actually what
we're going to be able to start building
all of the drawers and basically the
whole closet.
It is currently Cinco de Mayo. So, first
of all, happy Cinco de Mayo. Second of
all, I am trying to finish this project
by my birthday. Like I said, May 27th of
this month, I'm trying to finish this
project and I'm already feeling good.
The fact that we already are this far
and it's I'm only like day three into
the build is like very very motivating.
I will say though, the only thing that
does suck is this space is way smaller
than the office. So, I'm really limited
when I'm trying to build in here.
All right, y'all. It's currently the
next day. I was just outside cutting up
some more wood. We finished the first
part of the cabinet. This is what's
going to be holding up the counter that
I'm putting in here. And I think I'm
going to mimic the counter that I have
for Mariah's closet. Another new thing
is this top piece right here. This was a
lastm minute change. My tape wall was
not like this when I first designed it.
I'm going to add a little 6in cubby and
it's either where I'm going to be able
to store all of my hats or store all of
my shoes. I still can't believe I also
have drawers underneath. Like, how cool
is that? Just boom, kick it open. That
would have been no storage. Comment down
below and let me know what you think and
if I should incorporate this into more
of my projects. If I knew to do this, I
would have done it on Mariah's. As you
can see, this is what mine would have
looked like. It would have just been a
normal no kicking. It's just it's just a
base. The shoe cubby is in. Let's see
how it works. Oh, yeah. Now, there's one
more thing we got to test, which is a
shoe. Are you kidding? But that's it for
today. I will see you tomorrow. Good
morning. This is a 1 week later update.
Are y'all ready to see where the closets
at? And there's something crazy that's
already going in. Remember, I'm trying
to finish this by my birthday, and it's
already Today is May 18th, so we only
have 9 days left. I don't know if I'm
going to finish it, but we're pretty
far. So, last time I showed y'all the
closet, we had the lower built, but
we've recently added on.
Oh my gosh. We have all of the wood in
for the actual shelving or the drawers.
We also have the crown molding that is
mock fitted in. The crown molding is
that little piece of white trim that
goes around the hole up top. And all
that is pretty cool. But if you did not
notice, we are actually in the process
of putting in all the LED lighting as
well. I just started this yesterday. I'm
already done with this whole side. So,
one for down here, the middle up top,
and then I'm going to do some like all
the way down here. For example, in
Mariah's closet, you could see where the
like toe kick is. I don't know what you
would call it, but there's lighting down
there. I'm going to be basically doing
that same lighting as well in here, but
this I'm going 10 times more with the
lighting. Like, I'm putting it all in
all the cubbies and everything. Just
trying to do trying to add something on
that I've never done before. But yo,
this closet is looking insane. Let's get
to work. We have a lot left to do. I
just can't wait to get this like done
and prep for paint. I think the most
annoying part is going to be making all
of these drawers. I have 10 drawers that
I'm have to make from scratch. And I
don't even know like the sizes. I'm
going to have to create that as I go. Up
here is where we have all of the wiring
for like everything. The speaker system,
the LED lights, which I'm putting in
right here. This is the box that I'm
wiring every single LED light to. And
I'm basically going to make this all
look really nice. And it's all going to
be bundled in this little thing. So, I'm
going to tie this all up. Hopefully make
it look nicer than it is right now and
get this thing lit up so we can see what
it looks like at night. All right. So,
it's been a couple hours.
As you can tell by the glow on my face,
I did finish all of the lighting and I
want to show you before I do anything
else. I also just got done cleaning it a
little bit, but it's still really dirty.
So, disregard all the sawdust and stuff.
But, are you guys ready? Let me shut it
off. Let me shut it off so you can see
the before. And then
yo, the next thing I have to do is put
them all in the track, which is super
easy. But this is I wanted to make sure
everything worked before I did that
because I can't take them really back
out. Hey. Hey.
>> What are you doing?
>> We haven't seen you all video.
>> I know
>> Mariah is still here, y'all.
>> Don't worry, I ain't going nowhere.
>> She has been seeing the closet a little
bit here and there.
>> Yeah, it's insane, guys. Like I can't
believe you are doing all that crazy
>> with the LEDs in it.
>> It looks insane. And today is going to
be another huge change. Look at this.
>> Oh my gosh. You could finally see what I
mean by the floor. We have the LED
lights. Look at this. Perfect. Glowing
up the drawers. Are you kidding?
Remember what I said? I went a little
crazy with the LED lights. There's not
one space in here that is not going to
have lighting. Also, remember all of
that rat's nest of wiring that was going
on? Let me show you what it looks like
now. Look at how nice and clean that
looks. So, we are tminus 7 days until my
birthday, aka 7 days until I want to
finish this closet. We have to get on a
rope. Now that I have all the LED wiring
done, I could put these face boards on
and I already have a bunch cut and it's
going to make it look super nice, super
finished, and get it prepped for paint.
Yes, paint is coming soon. It's actually
not too far off. All right, I'm trying
something new. I've seen cabinet
builders pre-build the face of the whole
thing so everything's like square and
nice and straight before they put it on.
So, I built the bottom section. I'm
really hoping it fits. It's the first
time I'm fitting it. No way. It fits
absolutely perfect. It almost looks like
I know what I'm doing. Trust me, I
don't. I have no idea. All right, so we
are outside now. I got more wood to
build the next frame, which is going to
be the frame above what I just put in.
Now, let's go back inside and get this
thing together.
Perfect fit. I'm actually getting good
at this. So, I just spent the last hour
building the final face piece for the
entire right side. Look at how
professional this thing looks.
Yo, it fits like a glove. All right, we
have good news and we have bad news. So,
the last time you saw the closet, we
were putting in the face frames and it
turned out absolutely amazing. The next
thing we had to do were the drawers. And
here's the good news. I started custom
building all of the drawers and I have
all of them done. So, that's the good
news. The bad news, which is not bad,
terrible news. Remember when I said I
wanted to finish this before my birthday
on the 27th? Well, the fact that I'm
standing here in the garage working on
the closet right next to my brand new
jet ski that my wife was so generous to
surprise me with. Shout out to her. She
surprised me with this freaking insane
birthday gift. But that also means that
my birthday is passed. But hey, it's
okay. We are still chugging along. I
want to finish this so we can start
working on the outside. I'm giving
myself one week to finish this closet.
This has been going on for about a month
now, but that's okay because after the
drawers, we're going to wood fill all
the holes and paint this thing. All
right, so we got the two drawers, but I
don't know if you could tell already
behind me are all eight drawers right
here set, screwed, and ready to go. Look
at how much space compared to my hand. I
think I've already mentioned this when I
was building these kick drawers down
here. I've never built drawers before
and I've just been like getting better
and better now that I've done literally
like almost 15.
Oh my gosh, look at that fit. All right,
baseboard is all done. Check out how
cool this is. So, not only does it look
like almost seamless. I was going with
like the hidden design, but look at
this.
Oh my god. This is the stuff that makes
the closet look more and more finished
every single step of the build. I also
went ahead and put a piece of wood all
the way up there to kind of close in
this area. And if you're wondering how
the sliding door turned out,
look at this.
Oh my gosh. Okay, we're in the garage
now and we have all of these boards. You
may be wondering what they are for. This
is actually going to be for the face of
the entire drawers.
So, I still got to put the top on, but I
need the insert, the middle insert that
I still have to cut, but it's basically
going to be a panel that fills in this
area. And then we put the top piece of
the frame on right here. All right. So,
we have every single drawer face built.
And this is what they look like. You saw
me build the frame. Well, I slid a
little piece of wood in the middle and
then put the other piece of frame on.
And I did just install the first one.
Look at this. Oh my gosh, they're going
to look sick. Gonna have to put them all
on these and then on these four right
here. Oh my gosh, this looks absolutely
insane. Look at all the drawers. This
looks like it's almost finished.
All right, you may be wondering why I'm
in a full paint suit. I'm not painting
yet. Let me show you an update really
quick before we do start painting. So,
walking into the closet, you can fully
see all of the wood filler that is
covering the 5,000 nail holes,
especially on all of these cabinets.
Every single spot that you see that is
filled with wood filler, we have to sand
flush. And I'm telling you, there's
probably going to be an inch of dust
just from all of this. And it's not
going to be fun. But luckily for y'all,
I get to show you the before and after.
So, this took like 2 3 4 days of
sanding. I don't even know. There was so
much dust in my eyes. Look at how smooth
everything is. It is completely primed,
ready for paint. And then I also, if you
didn't realize, I cocked all of the
edges. So, all of the edges are finally
done. I don't know if I told you what
color I'm doing yet, but I'm going to do
it the same color as these walls.
Remember, I'm tiling the wall from my
floor to ceiling. So, this color is
going to be on here. So, it's going to
be like white cabinets. I feel like
it'll just make this room super bright.
And then I'm going to do like a white
marble tile, kind of like what I did in
my office on the walls. I already
started prepping a little bit up here
with all the tape. Now, I just have to
put up a bunch of plastic. I have to
mask off the floors. But, let's go get
that done right now. All right. So, we
are back. I have everything masked off
and I just finished putting the first
round of paint on it. Are y'all ready to
see a sneak peek of what this thing
looks like? The moment you paint this,
it just makes it look 10 times better.
And it gets me so excited because at
this point, I've been working on this
project for literally 2 months. I don't
know how it's already been 2 months. I
did not want it to go this long. I
thought this would be like a maybe 1
month project, if that. It's also super
hard to paint because we're in such a
tight area. I have like no room to work
with. But look at this.
Oh my gosh. Yo, it looks professional.
We are going to do one more coat right
now. I'm not going to bring the camera
in here like I didn't before because as
you can see, I literally closed the door
and have plastic up because when you
paint, paint gets everywhere. It's
floating in the air. I have to wear a
respirator, goggles, this whole suit.
Otherwise, my body would just be
covered. Fun fact, I did film a little
bit on my phone for the YouTube short
and Tik Tok that I'm going to post on
this closet as well. So, make sure to
watch that because that's going to be a
whole like different perspective on the
build as well. But I'm so ready to take
all of this stuff down and see what the
room looks like without it being
destroyed. Now, it's time to clean out
this whole closet and get these drawers
installed. Baby,
I still have more tape to take off, but
it's so weird being in here and it not
being all mashed off. Like, this is
legit looking like a finished closet.
So, now for the fun part. We are about
to cut the countertop. The closet's
looking absolutely awesome. And this is
the next step that we have to do in
order to make it even more complete. I
got the mirror in. I got all the handles
in, which I don't think I showed y'all
yet. The mirror and all of the drawer
handles are in and it looks so good. The
paint also looks amazing. But today, my
only goal is to get this countertop
done. Tomorrow is the 4th of July, so we
have a party going on. We have a lot
going on this week. We're chugging
along, y'all. We're getting there little
by little. Well, let's get this thing
done and most importantly not screw it
up because this one piece of wood right
here was $200. These are really
expensive.
All right.
Oh god,
I am absolutely obsessed. And it
actually fit. I did some minor
altercation to the actual wood frame,
but this thing slid in like a glove. Now
that this is done today, I might do one
more thing. I really don't know. I'm
kind of running low on time, but I do
want to either do the lighting up here.
I want to put in all of these five like
little recess lights that are going to
go up top where the blue marks are.
Probably going to do the lights cuz I
don't know why I like doing electric.
All right, so this is probably one of
the biggest updates of the build. We are
getting down to the wire, y'all. We are
almost ready, but I did finish all of
the tile. Are you ready to see this? So,
I'm going to start with I did the tile
in here. We have this as the backsplash.
Looks super nice. I'm getting ready to
knock all of these off and grout it,
like fill in all these gaps. But look
it. We did all these cubbies as well as
the cubby down here. This is the best
part though. Not only did we do this,
but we did the entire wall. This is my
vision that I had the whole time. Look
at this. Oh my gosh. All of the corners.
I did this today. I have to coaul all
the edges. Like I said, grout all these,
but I'm getting ready to knock all these
yellow things off. And I also tiled
above and even below the junction box
for all of our wires. This is insane.
Also, I forget if I showed you all the
lighting, but I did hook up all of the
lighting. How far we came already is
absolutely insane. And I don't even care
if it took me 2 and 1/2 months. Like,
this legit looks crazy. We are on to one
of the last steps. And this is how you
know it's the last step. If you watched
my closet build video that I built for
Mariah is the poles. So, I'm putting up
these rods and I'm about to mount all of
these up right now. We are at like
literally the finish line. I've already
been filling all the drawers with my
clothes. I don't want to fill any of
this with my stuff yet cuz I want like
the finished project to be like fully
empty. But let's go put these rods up.
All right. Today is the day we are at
the final the final day. And I just
filmed the outro of the short that we
filmed on the closet. If you want to go
watch that, make sure to go watch that.
It's insane. You can see 10 times more
fastpaced as well on there.
>> But I already did see it. We are done.
We are here. We are done.
>> So good. Like it looks better than my
closet. Like I'm going to be taking
photos in here in this mirror because
this light in here is elite.
>> I'm filming off the phone right now
because our camera's dead. But this is
absolutely insane. It's everything I've
ever wished for. I don't think I showed
y'all, but I did end up redoing this
door and I put like a nice It's like a
plexiglass, but it's frosted. So, when
the um lights on, can you shut off the
light in here?
>> So, when the lights off, you could still
see through it. See how you can still
see through it? And then the bottom one
is clear. Also, it's like almost mid
August. So, this thing took like 4
months to do. Don't ask me why, but this
was a 4 month long video that I'm just
wrapping up right now.
>> Usually doesn't take that long of
projects, but we've been so busy.
>> I don't know why. Just life got in the
way. Like it's hard because in between
everything, I'm working on this, right?
>> I'm lowkey happy to take a break. I
think it's time to schedule a massage
cuz I say after I do every project, all
the stress, we need a massage. I
literally have a headache right now.
Like I need to go get a massage. But
thank you all so much for watching this
video. I really do appreciate it. I hope
you like it. Comment down below your
favorite part or anything that I should
add that I left out like any hardware.
For example, like I put in this this
thing right here. You can hang your
hangers on. So like when you're getting
ready, did you see that?
>> What?
>> This. So, it's like when you're getting
ready and you want to take your hangers
out and put it on here.
>> Oh, you did kind of show me that.
>> Yeah. And then once you're done, you
just put it away. But I'm going to move
in officially today. I'm going to load
all this up. Thank you all so much for
watching. We will see you in the next
video. But until then, peace. Love you
guys.
