Cody Rhodes Character Is Annoying

What's good y'all? It's your boy Ross back at it again with another video. So, we're check out Cody Rhodess is pissing me off. You're not the only one the great one. He's been pissing me off too. And it's not per se Cody himself. I'm talking about the booking of his character. It's been infuriating. This is probably one of the few times since Cody's been back in WWE where I'm like, you know what? I'm getting to that point where I just don't care anymore, bro. I don't care what they do with him because for every time they take a step forward, they take 10 steps back. It still, for the life of me, does not make sense from a character standpoint to have someone that has sat up there that you trusted belittle you, belittle your family, belittle, you know, the people you care about, even talked about your dog. Rest in peace to your dog. You know, he was, you know, talking about him before he passed. I'm not sure. Maybe he had already passed and that was just part of the storyline. Whatever the case may be, but per storyline, he's he's attacking everything that you care about. He cost you the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. And you get all fired up and you're like, I'm over it. I'm going to snap. I don't have to be a good guy anymore. You have the opportunity to punt him into another dimension. And what do you do? You fall for the No, don't do it. The guy that you supposedly know the most about and how he operates okkey doed you. He got you with the okey do. How am I supposed to believe in a character that falls for the simplest of tricks? No, don't do it. At some point, I'm like, "All right, bro. You You don't know coach. You don't know Randy then. There's no way because you should know this guy will do anything to get ahead. You know that. It's I'm getting upset again. Let me see what the great one has to say. So [ __ ] stupid, bro. >> Cody's character is going through on television is pretty much on the nose. They're teasing a heel. Good boy. Cody trying to follow his beliefs while Orton is trying to break him, whispering stupid, stupid. So Sunday night's main event, we finally got the match. Unfortunately, not featuring Jelly Roll. Jellies used to roll and now they don't anymore. What even is the WWE? Cody made the same mistake again. Cody wrote stopped and didn't punt Randy Orton after everything he's done, after everything he said. >> You're such a good guy. >> You know what the worst part is? Cody just simply never learned. The same situation happened over and over again. You would think that Cody is a bit smarter than that. Maybe the Wrestlemania punic wiped his memory. I don't know. He thought I can change him. We're talking about Randy Orton right here. RKOing women for the love of the game. Women, he roed a granny. >> RANDY ORTON. AWESOME. Oh my god. >> And these are just two examples out of a hundred. Now, I love Randy Orton. He's absolutely my favorite WWE wrestler. Made me fall in love with the WWE right back in 2004. But I wouldn't trust him as your friend. Me and Randy were baking pancakes. Yeah, we're about to eat good we fat. I'm not turning my back on him. To me, it just feels like WWE are teasing a heel turn for the sake of creating fake buzz. Welcome back to the channel, people. How are you guys doing? The I am saint. They've been teasing this heel turn for so long. That's my issue. They've been doing this for a while with no real payoff and it's gotten to that point where we're supposed to still believe in Cody's character. No. At some point, there has to be a payoff and it got to make sense. And right now, at this point, I'm I'm just losing interest in what they're doing with Cody, bro. I've I've I've tried for many years now, and it's just to this point now, it's like, what are we doing, bro? How How am I supposed to He's He's an idiot character-wise. He's a dumb dumb. So why am I supposed to care about someone that clearly doesn't care about themselves? Cuz this is stupid. Orelius III. I'm actually considering changing that legally. Or Vladimir Krupnik. Which sounds better? People in the comments below. I am worried about God's character in the WWE. Let me just say that. I'm a big fan. When he returned to the WWE, you could immediately tell he's going to be the face of the company. He had that spark. I believe and he's talking about professional wrestling. He makes me like professional wrestling when I don't feel like liking professional wrestling anymore. It's the passion. It's the way he treats professional wrestling with love and care. But I'm worried that history is going to repeat itself. I'm worried that Cody Rhodess, Mr. Code Store, is slowly morphing, morphing, morphing, morphing into 2010's John Cena. So, they're trying to show this different side of Cody Rhodess. I don't believe it's the first time it happened. By the way, I feel like this is like the second or third time WWE are experimenting with this. Cody is going to have a brand new character. He's going to be angry, pissed off. He's a cool baby face. The problem is I don't feel like the fans are buying it. I have some very weird examples. It reminds me of the embrace the hate John Cena story line. It reminds me of that story line for a couple of reasons, people. First of all, the meat on the boner is pretty much the same. Randy Orton is trying to kind of convince Cody Rhodess to turn heel. Kane tried to convince John Cena to embrace heel. May 19th, Great One's birthday. I did something to my mother. You get the idea. Each week, Randy Orton is trying to break Cody. I'm using this comparison because I'm not buying it the same way I didn't buy it back in 2012. And Kane was trying to do it because we sure as hell know John Cena ain't turning for [ __ ] And he also did these angry faces. Like this is an iconic shot of John Cena who's angry. And that's as far as we go. We're doing angry faces. Seems familiar to me. It also kind of reminds me of the Nexus story line where you know he has to join the Nexus, but you sure as hell know he ain't turning heels. He's going to turn on the Nexus. And I think he did in like a week or two. And for how long can this actually work? For how long can we get these storylines where WWE are teasing something big, create fake buzz, get people excited, get the tickets, maybe something big is going to happen. I mean, due to recent WWE history, we can expect anything. For how long can it actually work until people just simply give up? Many people already did. Latest report is saying despite how this match against Randy Orton at Sunday night's main event played out. Cody RHS heel turn is not in the cards right now says Russell votes. And this kind of pisses me off. It makes me a bit angry. Yes, it makes me angry people. WWE knowingly tease a heel turn just to create fake buzz and not do [ __ ] about it. I the point, bro, what are we doing? What's the point, dog? What are we doing, bro? You're going to hurt your character? You got to freshen it up, bro. And if it if there was any time to do it, it's with somebody like Randy Orton that has the history. Let's be honest, bro. Nobody's wanting to boo Randy. Even in the match when Randy was busted open, they were cheering for him. They were cheering R. Nobody wants to boo Randy. No one's going to boo Randy. No matter what he does, they're not going to boo him. So why not play into it? Why not play into what you have here? But instead, they don't want to do it. They don't want to do it. Saw this report and I thought about the previous report I saw like I don't know like five months ago. I believe previously it said that if Cody wrote Storms heel the decision is completely up to Cody and WWE are more than fine with it and I bet WWE wants that. I mean the product is so dry right now soulless dare I say it needs that buzz and I'm going to get into that just a little bit later. I look at Cody's history what he said about a potential heel turn in the WWE in 2023. Mr. Cody said, "I don't love the idea of being a heel here." Talking about his WWE return. Ridiculous. Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. The 2024 interview is a lot more interesting. So, he has a lot of interesting quotes about how he feels about being a heel in the WWE, being a heel in professional wrestling in general. His points make sense, but I don't agree with it. Let me explain. So, first he says it is very hard to be a heel today. I guess you can tell where he's going. It's the same thing John Cena talked about how you cannot be likable and that's the reason John Cena never changes attire. His theme song he doesn't want to give it to the fans and people are going to hate it. Well, there's a fine line between a good heel and just people not giving a [ __ ] Cody says a heel's job is to get cancelled. A heel's job is not to be cool and not sell merch. I know a lot of people are making that point and there's some truth to that, I guess, but it's 2026. People know wrestling is not well I hate saying it but I'm going to break a little Matty's heart but wrestling is not real. People are watching wrestling differently. Dare I say a good heel nowadays is exactly what Cody says a heel is not supposed to be supposed to be cool. The merch argument is kind of ridiculous to me because NWO are still selling merch. The reason NWO were the greatest faction, probably some of the greatest heels. It worked out be WWE for a long period of time is because they were cool. There's different types of heels people. We don't need to go back to the '9s. Roman Reigns turned heel. It's not like people hated Roman. Some people participated, booed him for the love of the game, changed the game. One of the most >> Yeah. And that's the thing like this is a different time period. So with that notion, I get what he's saying. Like you want to be despised. A true good heel is someone that's really despised. I get that. But you can be a cool heel and still sell merch and still be popular with the fans because what you're doing is cool. So in a situation like this, going rogue on Randy would work because guess what? People are gonna actually boo you. If you pack up Randy Orton, people are going to boo you because Randy Orton's in this phase of his career where he's beloved. He's legend status. So, nobody really wants to see him get backed up. If anything, people want to see him win title number 15. So, if you're the guy that thwarts that, that stops that, people are going to legit boo you because of it. And it makes sense. It's a gradual progression that works and makes sense. Not turning heel for the sake of turning heel, but turning heel on someone that you know the fans appreciate. It works. It's believable. The story's there. Doesn't matter if you want to sell merch or don't sell merch. Doesn't matter if the people actually start cheering you and and appreciating because it's something different. And then you could really turn it up from there. try to end Randy Orton's career, people would hate that. It works. So, that notion that you can't do it because you gotta sell shirts and and and it's not going to be genuine, it's a different time period now. Roman Reigns operates as a heel. Roman Reigns was a heel at one point uh before he lost at Wrestlemania 40. Guess what? People still cheered him. People still acknowledged him because he was a cool heel. Boring WWE superstars almost of all time. He actually made people care about the WWE. You're not meant to be cool. You're not meant to be the next Rock. You're meant to be a bad guy or a bad girl. But it's like both can exist. >> Yeah, >> I can be an absolute [ __ ] Beat the [ __ ] out of everybody. Cheat, lie, steal, and people are cheering for that. for your opponent, for a baby face, it just tells, "Holy [ __ ] I need to work a lot more harder to get more cheers than the bad guy." From what I can tell, MGF is one of the best heels in professional wrestling, right? But people like him. Also, a lot of it depends on crowd participation. Look at Dominic Mysterio. He used to get shitloads of booze. Not because people didn't like him. The complete opposite. People love Dominic Mysterio. They loved him so much they said, "Why don't we just participate in the action? get this guy over boo him because that's exactly what we're supposed to do. So, you never know whether you're going to get booed or cheered. Maybe fans are just going to appreciate it. Like, wrestling fans are a lot smarter right now and they're going to boo you for the law of the game. And I feel like WWE probably wants it and they need it. I was thinking about it, people. Wrestling is a lot different right now. It changed so much over the past like 5 years, I would say. creating viral moments. As cringe as it is, I know WWE overdid it in a way. It's kind of necessary. It's kind of the reason we got the latest wrestling booms. The Wrestlemania 40 situation. I mean, that's probably the biggest one. Dra comes back. Horrible [ __ ] happening. People are excited. Everybody's talking about non- wrestling fans are talking about it. CM Punk returns. Another viral moment. John Cena turns heel. Obviously, that's not enough. And in some of these cases, WWE didn't follow up. But you get my idea. That's the unfortunate world we're living in. You need to create these big ass moments and hopefully you can follow up. Now, CN Punk calling out TKO was a great idea. And unfortunately, they didn't really follow up on that. They should have. >> Why? What the [ __ ] >> WWE had an amazing opportunity. I'm going to get back into it. Why wouldn't WWE want to create more buzz around the product? I keep telling you this is the biggest thing that could happen in professional wrestling right now. Cody Rhodess finally turning heel in a way. They did a great job talking about how he's never turning heel and if he actually does it's going to be great. But that is the biggest thing WWE could do. And people Cody Rhodess is not John Cena. Shocking. Cody is not Cena. What you talking about? He's not the only man carrying the company. WWE were relying on John Cena back in the 2010s, and turning him heel was very, very, very, very risque. Yes, people, it was risque. Turning Cody Heel is the complete opposite. If the creative geeks know how to follow up on that, it could do wonders for the product. And I keep telling you, man, I look at this guy, I see a potential good bad guy. He's almost made to be a heel. I know the risk of Cody Oats turning heel and now he's getting cheered and everybody else is getting booed. But it could also work in the opposite way. If he's that popular, if he actually creates a lot of buzz, a baby face going up against Cody Rhodess could be >> almost like history repeating itself. Cody is now Roman Reigns. Who's going to beat Cody the same way Cody was chasing Roman? And again, when it comes to merch, all of that, I think it's going to be the opposite. I get it. Maybe you lose some kids buying your merch. That makes complete sense to me. Obviously, the younger fandom likes, you know, baby faces, but you gain a different audience. Do I believe he's ever turning heel? Honestly, yes. I think eventually eventually WWE will have to do it, even if Cody doesn't necessarily want that. What I've also learned by listening to some of his interviews, he never like really said he's never never turning heel. I think he said before, but over the years, he kind of softened up. Yes. Bad news for Brandy, by the way. Good news for us. He softened up. Could it happen in this Randy Orton storyline? I don't think so. I really don't think so. Going back to CM Punk calling out TKO. This could have been the next big thing in the WWE. TKO versus WWE. >> Corporate guys versus guys who are doing it for the love of the game. We love Wrestling. Obviously featuring guys like, I don't know, Kevin Owens, Cody Rhodess. The other side features Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, the guys who we associate with being, you know, company guys. Anyway, it had unbelievable potential and WWE did [ __ ] with it. Cody could have simply eventually switched sides. Cody would be a sellout because Cody has two different sides. On one hand, you have Cody Rhodess who loves professional wrestling. His father is a legendary wrestler. He respects, loves, talks about the history of the WW, of professional wrestling. He does [ __ ] like bringing back old championships for the love of the game. He's a wrestling geek. That's one side of Cody Rhodess. The other side of Cody screams corporate. I mean, look at this guy. He's coming out in suits and ties. Eventually, that side of Cody Rhodess wins over. The potential was absolutely unbelievable. I know storylines like this been done before, but seeing who's switching sides, drama between the entire roster, this could have been great. And I feel like WWE missed a major opportunity. Cody could have literally spent, I don't know, a year being a good guy and eventually just snap, see the light, the darkness maybe. But yes, people, I feel like eventually it needs to happen. And I don't know if it will, especially in this story line. But how do you feel about that? Do you feel like Cody would be a great heel? Do you think? >> Yeah, it would work. You can tell even greater stories because now things have changed. He has shifted. Now you can do different things. And it doesn't even have to be just an immediate turn. Gradually build it up like y'all been doing it and actually pull the trigger. Cuz once again, Randy Orton can do no wrong no more. He's at that level. Doesn't matter who it is. He can never do no wrong no more. So if you really want to get some real heel heat, you want people to boo, have him pack up Randy Orton, people would actually boo him for the right reasons.
