Big swing of the bat there for George
Lombard Jr. in in the third inning just
at the time. How big was that to kind of
open things up for this team?
>> Yeah, open things up. Uh Will just did a
tremendous job and obviously to get a
cushion there makes it easier for
everyone. So big swing and um you know
just uh he's just been doing a really
good job for us. George, well both of
them, but it was just a good swing.
>> Was just talking about Lombard being you
know coming off as older than he
actually is. Do you remember him that
way even as a kid when you were around
the Dodgers?
>> Yeah, you know, I think I mean every the
whole summer for a few years he was
taking ground balls, you know, with
Seager and whoever their shortstop was
for the Dodgers at the time. So
obviously he's uh been around the game
in a different way than you know a lot
of kids and it shows and um you know
he's just got a good head on his
shoulder. He understands what he wants
to do. He understands uh you know how to
handle himself and he's just doing a a
great job. this team is having to rely
on some rookies at the most important
time of the year and Lombard and of
course Spencer Jones as well. Just how
impressed have you been with what you've
seen from them and really how they've
been handling everything?
>> Both really really tremendous. Um you
know mentally, you know, calm, cool, and
collected both of them. Um you know, I
feel like with Jonesy, um you know, I
feel like he's put together a lot of
good at bats. He sees some a lot of
pitches, hits the ball really hard.
Defensively, he's done a really good job
as well. So, um, you know, both of them
have just have done a great job and, um,
you know, that it's just been it's been
fun to watch.
>> Has Will been to this rotation, to this
to this team?
>> Yeah, Will's consistent, man. I mean,
you know, he's just, you know, wherever
you need him, he's ready to rock and get
gets the ball. He's got really good
stuff. It's fun to play defense behind
him and, um, you know, he's just a he's
just done a tremendous job as well. and
um you know he's and today was that was
that was uh that was fun to play behind.
How
>> tough is that for someone like Judge
Hughes? I mean as great as he is, but he
basically has one day of live abs and
he's thrown back in the fire and he's
he's got two hits already and
>> yeah, I mean really it's not easy. Um,
but that's obviously a guy that really
understands what he wants to do um and
how he needs to get ready and um you
know it's it's not easy to do and but
for for him you know he you know he he
knew he knew what he had to do and uh
it's it's been pretty uh tremendous.
>> Go to production
>> uh in the two games since judges been
back. Do you think you or other guys in
the lineup are being pitched
differently?
>> It's always kind of hard to feel that in
the moment. um you know having him in
the lineup in the presence alone um just
is such a huge boo boost for this team
and um so it's kind of hard to see in
the moment but I'm sure in some ways
yeah
>> kind of along the along the same lines
how would you describe what his presence
means to this team being back in there?
Yeah, I mean obviously being out for as
long as he was, he was there, you know,
supporting us on the side, but um you
know, obviously he was ready to to get
back, itching to get back and just glad
that he's healthy. Um and obviously
offensively he's going to help us a ton
defensively just having him, you know,
on the field and um you know, he's best
player player in the game. So he uh he
makes everyone better around him.
>> When you say that's hard to do, is it
not swinging for a couple months and
trying to get the timing back after, you
know, one day of live? you how how can
you get the timing back so quickly? He's
just he's one of those special guys that
>> I think he's I think he's special. I
really do. Um I think he's he's special.
He understands, you know, his swing
probably, you know, better than better
than anyone. And um so yeah, I feel like
the timing and obviously the preparation
is is something he understands what he
needs to do for himself.
