Video summary
The Coastal Bend Day of Giving 2026 is set to take place on Tuesday, November 10th, running from midnight to midnight, with an early giving period extending from November 2nd through the 9th. This year's event features sixty-five participating organizations, including new additions such as the Boys and Girls Club of Beville and the Deaf and Hearing Center, all supported by a total matching fund of $1.7 million provided by twenty-two funders. Each organization can receive a match of up to $27,000, or $13,500 if two organizations share a single cap, while any funds raised beyond these limits are still accepted but will not be matched. To ensure donations count toward the event totals, participants must direct donors exclusively to the official portal at coastalbenddayofgiving.org and use provided QR codes, avoiding custom mail pieces or paid social media posts that might divert traffic away from the central system.
Organizations are required to complete specific registration tasks by October 30th, which include updating user lists and adding media, while also adhering to strict guidelines regarding offline contributions and fee structures. Physical checks are permitted for donors unable to give online but must be made out to "Coastal Bend Community Foundation" with the organization's name and "CBD" in the memo line, faxed or mailed before the day of giving so they can be entered manually by the foundation. The event utilizes a new Mighty Cause portal that offers features like peer-to-peer fundraising pages, real-time donation tracking, and customizable thank-you pages, though certain advanced tools such as live tickers and recurring donations are restricted to maintain a simple donor experience. Additionally, while transaction fees for credit cards stand at 2.8% plus processing charges, donors now have the option to cover these fees themselves to ensure their full contribution is matched.
The webinar also highlights the strategic benefits of peer-to-peer fundraising, where nonprofits leverage existing supporters like board members and volunteers to solicit donations from their personal networks, thereby expanding reach and educating peers about the organization's mission. Supporters can create individual or team pages using pre-filled templates that standardize messaging while allowing for full customization with personal photos and specific goals, all monitored through a dedicated dashboard by administrators. Automated email capabilities are available to send welcome messages to new donors and notifications when peer-to-peer pages are created within forty-eight hours, though organizations must manually activate these features as they are disabled by default; notably, the yearly donation reminder email is optional but discouraged for use. Technical support is provided by Mighty Cause during business hours, and while donor lists from last year cannot currently be retrieved due to a platform migration, individual receipts remain accessible for record-keeping purposes.
Finally, participants must remember that all funds raised are subject to a spending deadline of April 30, 2027, with a grant report due by May 15, 2027, and that organizations participating in this event are ineligible for other annual grants during the same period. During the blackout dates from November 2nd to 11th, organization-specific event pages must be deactivated to ensure all traffic is directed to the main Coastal Bend page, preventing duplicate entries or confusion. The event's recognition as the "Best Annual Fundraiser" by Ben Magazine was celebrated with a special bag provided to organizations, and any media inquiries outside of the designated blackout dates should be directed to the foundation rather than the media partners KI-TV and KUX-KT. As the webinar concludes, further platform walkthroughs led by Emily Malloy from Mighty Cause will be available in the second session to assist organizations in maximizing their impact for this significant community fundraising effort.

here for this year's Costa Ben
>> for this year's Costa Ben Day of Giving.
This year is going to be a little
different because we will have Emily
Malloy joining us and she's with our new
merchant for our Day of Giving portal.
And so after my presentation, she will
then present and give details on the
walkth through the portal, what you see,
what uh features you will have access
to, some features that we ask you not to
touch, and also we'll go over the
peer-to-peer fundraisers.
Um, so you'll have an opportunity to ask
questions after mine and also hers.
First, I wanted to introduce the close
to Ben Day giving staff who are here
today. We have Karen Salem. She's our
president and CEO.
The person taking photos was Crystal
Thomasson and she's our grants and
scholarships director. She's in the
back.
And at our check-in table, we have
Lauren Gala Garza. She's our program
development director. and also Laroo
Espinosa. She's our new office manager.
And we also have Alyssa Monette, but she
was not able to join us today, but she
is our finance director, and she's the
one who does and helps with the
reconciliation of all the uh funds that
you all raise and uh the checks that we
distribute to you all.
So this year's day of giving is going to
be on Tuesday, November 10th from
midnight to midnight. That's a little a
few days over two months that we have
until the big day.
And this year we have 65 of you all of
your organizations
uh who will be participating. I did uh
mention there would be 66 when I first
emailed you all about your participation
but unfortunately one organization
became ineligible. So now there are 65
of you all
and new this year is the Boys and Girls
Club of Beville, the Boys of Girls, Boys
and Girls Club of Afurio and the Deaf
and Heart of Hearing Center.
They're the ones who are in the red
text. Also this year there are going to
be two groups of two organizations that
are going to be splitting a match and
that is the Boys and Girls Club of
Bivville and Rafiio and Choice Living
Center will be splitting a match with
ECF Community Center.
How much is the match this year?
Thanks to 22 matching funders that you
see on the screen,
the total match is $1.7 million.
So
that means each of you except those who
are splitting a match will have the
opportunity to be matched up to $27,000.
and any funds that you raise over that
amount will not be matched, but you
still will receive those funds.
Those who are splitting a match, they
will each be able to be matched up to
$13,500.
And we hope that you all can reach uh
and raise up to the matching. The goal
is always to raise more than the
matching. Last year we did have for the
first time uh the Coastb Food Bank
raised over $200,000.
So it is possible
and we had about eight additional who
raised over $100,000.
And um so with that matching funds uh we
provide you all the tools so that you
can get to that goal and we also will
have a check presentation mid December
and that is when we will uh distribute
the funds that you raised.
Now, some of the items I will talk
about, we will uh talk about them again
in the other presentation with Emily
and so you may hear a few of these
things uh more than once
and we'll have an opportunity to ask
questions.
Now, your organization page, each of you
uh have had someone log in to your page.
You all have uh completed your
registration which included your um your
agreement participation agreement and
there was also a to-do list that you
have to complete before your
organization could appear on the
website. So all of you have registered
there is one organization that still
needs to complete your to-do but other
than that all of you are now appearing.
So when supporters go on to the
coastband dayofgiving.org org site,
they'll be able to um learn more about
your organization.
And uh we do ask that when you log in,
you uh should add or delete users. I
know a lot of you have new staff in your
orgs and some old staff may still be
listed. So, it's a good time for you to
go and clean up your users.
Uh although you have already registered,
you've completed your profile, you can
still go on and review it and make any
edits.
You should still add any media such as
photos or videos if you haven't not
already done so. And uh complete your
edits by October 30th, right before
early giving begins. and Emily will um
go over where you can go in your
organization profile and add those uh
items.
As I mentioned, you all signed a
participation agreement. It is very
important that you follow these
guidelines. If you need to know the day
of the event, early giving, the blackout
dates, those are all in this document.
Uh if you haven't already, please share
a copy with all of your staff who will
be helping uh during the giving day
event so they can also mark all the
important dates. Uh we will be working
with KI again. They will they are our
sole sponsor and I'll talk a little bit
about that. Uh and it's also important
that you all stay in good standing.
If for some reason maybe something comes
up and you're not sure uh if you would
still be eligible, please call us
because we rather you call us directly
than to hear it from the news media that
there is an issue because we will
contact you and we will work with you to
try to fix it.
And these are just pages from the
participation agreement which the
blackout dates are November 2nd through
November 11th
and the uh early giving is November 2nd
through November 9th.
Oh, also I forgot to mention the
presentations will be recorded and will
be available on the portal once it's
uploaded. So you and any other of your
staff who are users can access it
through the portal
if you uh want to review the um
presentations from me or Emily's.
There's a few uh day of giving
reminders.
Uh please, as we have in the past, only
use the URL for the day of giving page,
not your profile uh page URL.
The acceptable one is coastbend
dayofgiving.org.
And again, please use the QR code that
we have provided which directs
supporters to the day of giving website.
The QR code is available in the
marketing toolkit that we have in the
portal for you to access and you'll be
able to access the QR code there so you
can use it for your publicity and social
media um postings.
Please do not create mail pieces such as
the postcards. We do receive many of
those postcards that you make. We don't
want you to spend money from your
budget. We want you just to utilize the
tools that we provide to you. You can
publicize in the newsletters or eblasts
that you already uh send out to your
supporters and that's okay because
that's something you're already sending
out. You're already spending so you can
add your participation in those um
materials.
We also ask that you please don't pay
for any um paid posts, social media post
uh or boosting. We at the foundation we
do some of those um boostings on behalf
of the day of giving. So we are able to
do that on behalf of all of you all.
Uh there is a resource page that you can
access. Once you get back to your
office, you should be able to log into
the portal. And if you go to your
dashboard, you'll see that there's an
announcement. If we click on the
announcement, you'll see the uh resource
page which you can access
the marketing toolkit which has all the
graphics that you'll be able to use uh
for your advertisement as a
participating charity. uh any templates
for newsletters
uh for social media postings
and uh helpful articles from mighty
cause our day of giving merchant. They
also have a helpful um section where you
can search for other uh tips and tricks
that you can use to help your
involvement in the day of giving.
And um we also have a marketing plan
which you can download. It's an Excel
file and it'll help you. So it'll have
days that we
uh note where it helps you on this day
post this uh on your social media along
with a graphic that you can use to go
along with it. So, we've have it from
now up to the day of. So, that'll help
you plan a lot of your social media
posts and so forth. And there's also
graphics where you can edit to add your
logos to the graphics
um as well.
And when you do post on social media, we
ask that you do a call to action about
Costa Day of Giving. Um, you can, you
know, before the blackout date, you can
post something about something you're
doing at your organization
and add that you're participating
charity. And especially during the
blackout dates, we ask that you please
add something pertaining to Costa Bend
Day of Giving. that way you can you know
bind them together and you won't be um
not following the guidelines for day of
giving. We do look at all the post
uh y'all's websites and if we see
something that we think needs to be
corrected I will contact you and it
doesn't mean you're in trouble. We just
want you to stay on track and to do the
best that you can to follow all the
guidelines in the agreement.
And we also ask that you um place a link
for Day of Giving on your website,
especially during early giving and day
of giving because if you receive uh
donations from donors through your
organization website link, those will
not count towards the funds raised for
Day of Giving. So, please turn off your
link and add one for day of giving
linking to the coastbend day
ofgiving.org
uh website.
Please note there are some don'ts which
were included in the packet of the
posters and brochures that you were
given. Please make copies for everyone
of your staff who was helping with your
day of giving. Uh we'll also talk about
these as Emily goes through the process
and the walkthrough of the portal of
which features these pertain to. Uh this
is a new merchant this year. So there
are a lot more features that are
offered. But because our day of giving
is a little more simpler, our donors
know what our giving day looks like. We
don't want to change too much of it the
first year so that you know donors will
have an easy friendly uh website that
they're used to uh giving to. So please
refer to the sheet for the features not
to um touch.
We are going to still accept physical
checks this year.
But please remember these are only for
those donors who don't have access to a
computer, cannot give online. We
understand some give through their IRA.
They through their sale of stock and so
forth. And there's simply some
businesses that like to give, but their
business does not allow their check or a
information to be entered on a website,
only by a physical check. And we will
still take those. Uh you will need to
fax a copy to us and then deliver or if
you're in an outlying county, you can
mail them to us. But as long as we have
that fax, we can use that
um to for our office to enter those that
we can enter online online. But we ask
that you do not enter any of those
yourselves.
And those that cannot be entered online,
we at the foundation will enter those
and those are considered offline
donations.
And you'll still be able to run a report
and see those when you run your donor
list.
Uh the checks will need to be made out
to Coastal Bend Community Foundation and
in the memo line CBD
along with your org name so that we know
whose org that check needs to be applied
to
when we uh process those checks. If the
check is not made out to Costa Bin
Community Foundation when you receive
it, we ask that you endorse the back of
it, pay to the order of Costa Community
Foundation, including your signature.
So, if we aren't able to enter it
online, we the foundation will deposit
it into our bank account and then we
will turn around and add it as an
offline donation in the portal. So,
you'll still be able to see those um
donations.
And we ask that you please bring these
at least a day before a day of giving. I
know some of you still receive checks
the day of and that's okay. Just call us
before you're heading over because we
probably may cut off the time around
2:00 or so before the banks close for
the day. But we can work with you. And
if you have any donors that do want to
give via their IRA or sell of stock or
another means, please have them call us
or you contact us. I do keep a special
spreadsheet where we keep a list of
those donors so that we're aware of the
checks that are coming for those type of
donations.
Um, and we will also work with them. But
we will need those contributions before
the day of giving before uh November
10th.
There are fees associated as there are
when you make any online contribution or
purchase. It is a 2.8%
uh mining cost site vendor fee this
year. It will go up next year but this
year it's 2.8% 8%
and 2.1% plus 30 cents for credit card
transactions
and 4% for AC electronic checks with a
$5 cap.
Uh once again, your friends, family,
board members, they can still create
fundraisers
uh peer-to-peer to help rally for
y'all's organizations and any um funds
through those fundraisers will be
counted towards the funds that are
raised during early giving and a day of
giving. And Emily would talk a little
bit more about those fundraisers.
and uh the transactions
will show I believe the gross amount.
So please subtract about 5% from that
for
um fees
for you to get an estimate of the total
that's been matched and raised. But also
new this year donors will have the
opportunity to
uh cover those fees.
In the past they have not had that
opportunity. So those donors that cover
the fees means you'll get the full
portion of the um donation.
some important information which you may
hear again uh in Emily's presentation.
KITV is our sole sponsor. Again, uh I
will work with them on any scheduling of
any interviews, tape profiles, and so
forth. There may be time where they may
reach out to you. It's okay if it's
during the blackout date, as long as
it's Klei.
um that is okay to give an interview
with them if they do reach out to you.
Um
again pro nonprofit radio kux kt we also
schedule those PSAs and those interviews
with them. Uh we do have those
uh that we schedule
and we ask that you please do not do any
public radio because that is not part of
the contract that we have with Klei. But
you all are really good about uh
following that. But if you ever have any
questions, please just contact us.
And of course, please do not give into
any interviews
uh or anything pertaining to coast band
giving to any other media outlets.
Um they have been good and they know our
rules
but time to time they may reach out
and if you're not certain again call us.
um early giving November 2nd through
9th. Any contributions that are given
during that time will count towards the
day of giving funds November 10th.
Please spend and utilize your funds by
April 30th, 2027.
If you are having a hard time spending
them, you can use the funds to prepay
any bills or insuranceances or buy
supplies that you know you'll be needing
for your programs in the future. But it
does need to be spent by that date.
And we do ask for a grant report which
is due May 15th, 2027.
Please mark your calendar for that grant
report because um we have had some that
do not complete it by the deadline and
uh calls have to be made and we
understand you know but um the date is
here the date is on the participation
agreement so you all should know when it
is due and we appreciate it if you can
submit it by that deadline. time.
If you are participating charity again
this year, you will not be eligible to
apply for one of our annual grants or an
ARM grant or special food pantry grants.
Um you can only be part of Day of Giving
and not
um applying to any of those. if we see
that you're applying to one, we just
won't look at the application.
So, please be mindful of that. So, we
can give other organizations an
opportunity to also uh receive money
from the foundation.
Just a little uh recap review on the
grant reporting.
Um there are two documents that we do
ask right here. The statement of
activities which is your profit and loss
and your balance sheet
uh shows a snapshot of your um financial
health.
Please do not send a copy of your bank
statement. That is not sufficient for
one of these uh documents. And we also
ask for your IRS form 990.
Please be sure that you do provide the
most updated copy and that you do have a
990
uh so that your eligibility your tax
exemption will not be revoked.
Uh your board should be looking at your
990 each year. So there shouldn't be a
reason why you do not have one.
Uh once again, Kalai is working possibly
with the program with Delmare College
and TAMU CC students. It may be possible
that you can have a student who works
along with you to help with the day of
giving publicity. Last year we did have
Delmare students that helped a few of
you all and they went and recorded some
taped profiles and some of that footage
was used in the interviews uh on Domingo
Live. They were used during the newscast
uh features and so it may be a
possibility that we'll do that again.
And I understand some of you may have
signed up last year but did not get uh a
student.
That is um dependent on the number of
students they have and the number of
projects that they're able to work with.
So it's also possible you may sign up,
they may not work with you, but we will
try to have one. Um, and I'll send out
more information on that because it is
being worked on and we don't really have
the logistics if it is going to happen.
But if you would like to participate in
that, I do have two clipboards up here
at the end of the meetings. You can come
up and sign up if you're interested and
I'll provide that to KI and then we'll
reach out.
Uh, as you all may know, Scott Jones,
who worked with us real closely, he
retired. So now, Miranda Lindley is our
new contact with Klei, and she's
wonderful, and she will be working with
us, and she may contact you time to time
for um,
any interviews, profiles, um, tape
profiles, and so forth. but I'll be her
contact too for scheduling all of that.
Um, here's my email.
Uh, if you have any questions, my phone
number, you can al always email me or
call the office and the day of giving
website. Also, our social media handles
for day of giving. Uh if you have not
already, please um like these uh pages
so you can be in the know of day of
giving. We still have the private
Facebook page.
If you can
um or if you would like to join that, we
encourage you because we post uh updates
on there and important information.
And if you um can only see that if
you're part of that group. So send me a
email if you are interested so that I
can send you an invitation to join. And
we do still use the hashtags
CBCF
uh Kosaban Day of Giving 2026.
Uh do y'all have any questions?
No. Well, if you happen to have any, you
can ask again at the end of the
following presentation when Emily does
her presentation. We're really excited
about about this year's Day of Giving.
Last year, over 4.5 million was raised
and we hope that this year we can raise
more.
Now, uh we're going to have Emily join
us.
She again is our project manager with
Mighty Cause and she's going to do the
walk through the portal and um pet
peer-to-peer fundraisers.
All right, thank you. Okay, so hello
everyone. Um as a reminder, I'm Emily.
I'm the giving day program manager with
Mighty Cause and I'll be leading you
through the second portion of our
presentation. Um, and before we get
started, I want to um, welcome you all
to Mighty Cause on behalf of the whole
Mighty Cause team. We're really happy
you all are joining us with lots of
experience in the giving day realm of
things, and we're excited to get you
acclimated to the new platform. So, just
a couple housekeeping reminders. This
webinar will be recorded, so it'll be
posted on the website by the end of this
week. And we will have time for
questions at the end. So, if you have
questions, um, I would recommend just
jotting them down. I'll have about 45
minutes of presentation and then we'll
get to those. But let's get started.
Okay. So, I know we're going to be
covering a lot today in the
presentation. I did try to parse down as
much as possible, you know, everything
that could have been included and just
focus on what's most important. So, know
that again, you can watch this recording
if you don't catch something or need to
rewatch it. But we'll be going over
basics for the giving day. Um, we'll be
going through a platform walkthrough to
get you more familiar with how to
navigate the organization page and
dashboard. Uh, we'll talk about how to
edit your organization page, and we'll
talk about some key features like
peer-to-peer fundraising, automated
emails, um, and a couple others. Then
we'll move on to Q&A, and then, uh, wrap
it up with some friendly reminders.
Okay. So, a couple of these will be
repeats, but it's worth reminding you
again. So, we'll go over some basics.
So, for those of you who have not
participated in a giving day before, a
giving day is an online fundraising
marathon that really aims to bring
people together to support a specific
community, cause or space. And the
giving day in this case is of course
hosted by Coastal Ben Community
Foundation which organizes the event and
rallies the organizations to raise funds
for their causes. And the particip
participating nonprofits utilize the
resources provided by the hosts to reach
out to supporters to solicit donations
and secure fundraisers to help uh
support their mission.
So this annual online giving day is a
really powerful call to action and
Coastal Ben Day of Giving encourages our
neighbors to invest in the local
nonprofits that make its community
thrive. So the Coastal Ben Day of Giving
team believes in sparking and growing
local philanthropy.
By powering Coastal Ben Day of Giving,
the Community Foundation provides a
really vital platform that not only
raises unrestricted funds for hundreds
of organizations, but also builds their
long-term sustainability and encourages
deeper civic engagement across the
region.
Okay, so now that we've established that
the Day of Giving is really, really
important, let's get into some details
for this year.
So, um,
the day of giving will be on November
10th and then early giving will open
November 2nd. And we do ask that you
finish editing your organization page by
October 30th. So, we'll jump into the
platform walkthrough in a little bit to
show what that entails, but just keep
that key date in mind. I also just want
to highlight that um to please make sure
that you're using the correct link. So,
whatever URL that you're sharing should
start should just be the coastal bend
dayofgiving.org.
Okay. So, now let's just cover the
requirements really quickly so you know
um what it entails to be participating
organization of this giving day. So,
first all organizations must be a
verified 501c3 charitable nonprofit and
you must have been invited to
participate. And then you also must be
in good standing with the IRS or
fiscally sponsored by an organization
that is in good standing with the IRS.
And we'll talk in a little bit about um
how you can check your status. Uh we do
have a way to do that in the platform.
But uh like Tracy said earlier, we have
65 wonderful organizations registered
which is really fantastic.
Okay. Um, and then I will switch it over
to Tracy so she can go over some
features that we'll avoid on the
platform.
So the blue sheet that you have with
your packet, uh, these are the features
that we ask you do not use
on the organization page. Uh we ask that
you do not use the dollar raise and
unique donor feature because on the day
of giving date we do not want the donors
to see how much you all have raised
during that day because that could deter
them to stop donating towards your
giving day. And once you meet the match
we don't want them to stop. We want them
to keep giving. So we ask you not to
activate that feature for that purpose.
or the giving activity or custom tab
feature. Uh these are great features,
but at this moment we do not want to
utilize these to make it a more simple
uh giving opportunity for donors. under
the fundraising tools when you're on
your profile page um logged in to your
page and dashboard
uh we ask that you do not touch the
matching grant portion because that
could change the live ticker that will
be happening when donations are coming
in. We the foundation take care of the
matching funding the 1.7 million that we
have uh from the 22 matching funders and
so we will be um
doing that throughout the day and the
matching funds will be part of the total
as well that you will see on the live
ticker. So please do not touch the
matching funds. Do not enter anything in
that uh feature or field. There is an
automated email that can be uh made for
a yearly donation reminder. We ask that
you please do not activate that one or
the text to give. Uh this year we are
not going to do that but we are looking
into possibly in the future since this
is the first year using this uh merchant
portal. Uh we thought maybe having that
weekend next year would be better. And
the opportunities
uh please do not also use that one. The
donations offline donations those are
those checks of donors that will be
coming that you those checks you will be
bringing to us. The foundation will be
entering and taking care of those. So
please do not enter anything or those
checks in the website or in the portal.
There's a checkout donation form which
is the checkout for the donors when they
give. Uh please do not um use the
feature for recurring donations. This
merchant uh day of giving website we
only use it one time a year only during
the giving day. We do not utilize it
throughout the whole year. So, um we
don't have the recurring uh option or
the option to use designated funds or
customized questions to the checkout
process. Please do not uh use that as
well or the customization of the tax
receipt. Uh we are going to be using a
custom receipt for all the
organizations.
So, we ask that you don't you did
customize a thank you and that's okay.
That was part of the to-do list.
And again, as I mentioned before, the
settings uh using your page URL, we ask
that you only use the day of giving
coastal dayofgiving.org
URL
and the Q card QR code that's provided
in the marketing toolkit.
Thank you, Emily.
Yeah, thank you. Okay, so I feel like
that's all really helpful context before
we jump into the platform walkthrough
because I'll be sharing my screen and
you might see some features that um are
off limits I guess for your giving day.
So, let me stop sharing this screen and
switch over.
All right.
There we go.
Too many screens.
All right, there we go. And um can you
see the Black Cat Society?
>> Not quite yet.
>> Not quite yet. Okay, maybe it's loading.
Let's just give it a little nudge.
Okay, so it looks like I got a
notification that you all can see it,
but judging from your screens, it's
still loading for a second. Um, well,
let's give it a minute more.
Uh so basically just as a disclosure for
what we're going to be looking at um
we're going to be looking at a demo site
and any information donor information
etc is all just fake just for um
demonstrative purposes just so you know.
Um
okay let me stop and try again one more
time.
What was that?
Okay. Um,
>> I've never had this issue before. Um,
well, it looks like Tracy, you might
still be sharing.
>> And I think we're gonna get it.
>> Okay.
It looks like you might still be sharing
your screen, Tracy. Let me see if I can
now.
>> Okay, I think we may have it now.
>> Okay.
>> Yes, we do.
It was It was uh our side.
>> Okay.
>> Okay, we got it. Perfect. All right. Um
well,
first we will start on the Coastal Bend
website. So um first I want to talk
about if anyone has not yet logged into
the platform what that looks like just
because the first time that you log in
it's a little bit different from all the
others. And since you've already
registered at least one of your team
members should know how to do this but
just want to make sure that everyone
with administrative access knows how. So
um if you have previously been an admin
for an organization participating in
Coastal Ben Day of Giving, you will need
to select um forgot password after you
click login in the top right. So you'll
just click forgot password and then once
you have access uh you will log in um by
clicking login in the top right. My
information is saved. So that'll just
take a second. And then when you are
logged in your name will be populated up
here in the top right. You'll be able to
click your name and then see all of your
managed causes here. So, the
organization that you manage will show
up here. You'll be able to click on it
and then this will look uh it'll look
very similar to this with administrative
access.
So, as a reminder, this is all just demo
information. Um, but when you first log
in, it will drop you off at the overview
page.
Um, and this includes metrics,
announcements if there are any, which I
know Tracy has been utilizing. So, those
will show up here over on the right. Um,
and then also your registration status.
So, at this point, you should all be
approved for registration. Um, and just
for context to make sure that you're uh
in good standing with the IRS, you can
also see if you are in good standing
with the IRS here. So each month, Mighty
Cause imports the list of the most
update up to-date IRS um approved
organizations.
So um these are organizations that are
in good standing with the IRS, have
501c3 status, all of the above. So if
for whatever reason your organization
fell off of good standing, um you would
have a notification here up at the top
with a little banner image.
So let's go to organization page next.
So your organization page is going to be
the hub of your activity for Coastal Bin
Day of Giving. So we do recommend taking
some time to get to know your
organization dashboard which can be
found over here on the left and um which
is pictured here. So on this
organization page you can find that
to-do list up here at the top which all
of you have completed at this point and
that outlines suggested and required
steps. You can customize your
organization page by toggling on edit
mode up here on the right. You can see
that it's toggled on when it's blue.
Um, and this allows you to go into your
page, um, and make any updates. So, like
Tracy mentioned, uh, you all will not
have progress updates for dollars
raised. Um, so just ignore that. But for
different purposes, you can go down here
and add in pictures and images,
etc.
Okay. And we'll come back to this for
more specifics, but let's do a highle
overview first. Next. Next, let's move
on to fundraising tools. So, here you'll
be able to um review the peer-to-peer
fundraising campaigns that have been
created under campaigns.
Um, and we can also go to reports.
So in this report section, you'll be
able to preview and export different
donation reports. So all donations is
probably the most common one. Here
you'll be able to see um donations that
come in real time and be able to
download more information.
So let's continue with our highle
overview. Moving on to checkout.
Um this includes your thank you page
which all of you have already completed.
Uh which will show for donors once they
complete a gift. You can also go in here
and make updates to your donation form.
I know Tracy has a couple restrictions
for that, so make sure you refer back to
um which features to ignore, but this is
where you would go in and update, for
instance, suggested donation amounts.
Now, lastly, for this highle overview,
we can go into settings. Oops, settings.
There we go.
Um, and this is where you can update uh
admins. So, I know Tracy would like all
of you to go in and update who has
administrative access. This is well, we
like to think this is pretty simple. So,
you can go in see everyone who has admin
access and if anyone has requested to
become an administrator for your uh
organization, you can approve or decline
them up here at the top. And then if you
need to delete anyone um from having
administrative access, you can also
click the three dots to the right of
their name, click edit, um copy email
address or remove, etc.
Okay, so now let's do a deeper dive. So
let's go back to the organization page.
And these are just little suggested
boxes for what to complete, but we'll
ignore those for now. So, um, on here on
the organization page, assuming that you
have edit mode toggled on, you can
change your theme color to match your
logo. You can upload media to your
gallery down here to add some visual
interest on your page. And you can
ensure that your story description is
the centerpiece of your page.
So, let's go through some feature
specifics.
So, this about section of your page is
your chance to really explain what your
organization is all about. And this is
an opportunity to review your page and
think about the message that you want to
share with donors during the event. So,
you'll really want to think about your
goals for this year's Coastal Bend Day
of Giving and see how to clearly convey
that message to supporters.
Um, and I will highlight that there's a
50word um, minimum for this about
section, but because you all have
already registered and completed your
to-do list, you should already have 50
words in there. But if for whatever
reason you wanted to edit it, you do
have that minimum set. So, um, you can
also go in here and just click into the
section to edit, you can start typing
and then just click save up here at the
top.
You can also go in and add images,
uh, videos, and links.
You'll want to jazz things up as much as
possible to make sure that this
organization page reflects the branding
and mission of your organization.
So, um, just a note about adding videos.
You can add videos from YouTube and
Vimeo and they'll get embedded into your
story. so people visiting your profile
can check them out within that section.
And um just a pro tip, these do have to
be public if you want to share them. Uh
and you can also add bulleted or
numbered lists. This bot is really where
you can go in depth about your
organization. Um for example, you can
tell supporters while your organization
needs their support and show the impact
of your work.
So we can scroll through see that that's
what a video would preview like um as
well as the media gallery and any active
matching grants which um Tracy is well
and the the community foundation will be
entering the matching grants but this is
where you can see those.
And I'll also add that when you toggle
edit mode off you can preview what
supporters um just public viewers will
see. So, all of these like pencil icons
where you can edit things will disappear
and um you'll no longer be able to like
type into the text editor.
So, that's a good way to see what
supporters will view your page as.
Okay. So, now let's talk a little bit
more about reports. So, as you can see,
you can access reports on all donations,
um, offline donations, donor retention,
and dispersements. So, we'll really just
focus on all donations because we're not
allowing, um, recurring donations, and,
uh, Tracy will and the community
foundation staff will be entering
offline.
So, for the donations report, this will
be available to you again in real time
and include information like the donor
name, email, donation amount, um, and
you'll also see which page they donated
to. So, please note that the time period
up here in the top left does default to
the last 30 days. So, each time you go
in here to pull a report, you'll
probably want to adjust that time
filter. Um, so you can do that by
picking one of the like suggested time
periods, whether that be last week, last
month, last year, or you can enter a
custom date range. So you can specify
the exact start date and end date that
you want to look at. You can also filter
by donation type, um, campaign type, if
you want to look at fundraisers or
peer-to-peer fundraisers, or by the
giving event, etc.
Okay. Um,
and I'll also note one more thing about
the time period. The time period uh can
only be specified for a maximum of one
year. So in the future, next year, if
you're wanting to look at both 2026 and
2027 data, you will have to pull two
separate reports. But once you have the
report that you want, you can preview it
down here at the bottom. And then you
can download it by clicking this cloud
icon with the arrow going down labeled
download. and that'll download a CSV
file with all of the information
captured from the donation form when a
donor checks out.
So that'll be really helpful to um
assess donor information and in real
time see the donations that are coming
in.
Okay. So um because Coastal Vend
Community Foundation is processing gifts
through Stripe, the gifts made through
mighty cause platform will be dispersed
to your organization by the community
foundation via check. So a couple other
noteworthy points. Um admins will
receive email notifications when a
donation is made. So you can update this
in your account settings over here on
the left settings.
Um, and then let's talk about a couple
important notes for offline donations.
So, the community foundation will be
entering all offline donations, which
are check gifts. So, to enter a check
gift, the community foundation does
require that your organization sends
either a fax of the check via uh or
sends it via physical check with a
letter. Um, but all offline donations
will be included in the overall totals.
Please make sure that the offline gifts
you are wanting to have count towards
the giving day are received within a
reasonable amount of time near the
giving day itself. Um, so Tracy already
went over this a little bit, but just
make sure that you're staying in uh
communication with the community
foundation about any offline gifts so
that they can work with you to make sure
those are countered counted for the
giving day.
Okay. So, the next item that I'll go
into is the checkout donation form.
So, um under checkout and then donation
form, you can see that this is again
where you can customize the donation
flow that all donors will experience
when they make a donation towards your
organization.
So, you can set up custom uh donation
amounts with descriptions to help tie
those amounts to items or services your
organization provides. And as you can
see here, an example might include like
$30. Actually, this has been updated
since the last time I was in here, but
um it could be like $30 pays one month
of vaccines for uh an animal or
something to that effect.
This gives the dollar value a more
tangible effect.
Um, and then within the donation form,
Mighty Cause does automatically collect
email and physical address information.
Um, and for these features, just as a
reminder, will ignore designated funds
and custom questions. You can, however,
update the dedication message though. So
if um
if a donor wants to make a gift for
instance in honor of someone, so in
honor of their daughter for her birthday
or something like that, they can make a
gift in honor of um for instance Emily
and then send an email to that person
notifying that a gift was made in their
honor, which is a really nice feature.
Um so you can have that on so donors can
make that choice.
Now, at the top of this page,
this is where the preview is. As you
might have seen earlier, we'll ignore
the monthly gifts because we're not
offering recurring gifts, but we can go
to the form to preview what that looks
like. So, this is what a donation form
would look like. As you scroll down, um
you can see that donors do have the
option to enter in a custom amount. So,
no matter what the suggested amounts
that you have are, um, a donor can still
put in $13 if they want to donate that,
etc. The dedication will populate here.
So, donors would just have to click that
drop down. And then donors do also have
the option to hide their name and or
donation amount um from public view. So,
you as organization admin will still be
able to see that name and donation
amount, but the public would not be able
to. for instance, if we had a live um
timeline of gifts coming in. So then if
we click on to the next page, donors
would have the option to um pick their
payment method and then enter their
billing address and they have the option
to customize fees. So uh like Tracy
mentioned, this is brand new for this
year, but donors will have the option to
custo uh to cover those fees associated
with making a gift through Mighty Cause.
And this box will be defaulted to off.
So donors will have to like actually go
in and check this to add the fees to
their cart. But they do have the option
to do that. And as you can see, if you
uncheck that um or if a donor goes in
and unchecks it after checking it, just
if they're curious or what have you,
it'll ask them are they sure?
Okay. So from there they would just pay
and then um they would get that thank
you message that you all customized.
Okay. So I will skip over the thank you
page because you all have already
completed it and um the receipt because
we will not be customizing that. The
community foundation will be customizing
it for everyone.
Um
let's see. So, as far as matching grants
go, a reminder that the Coastal Bend
Community Foundation will be entering
and managing all of those matching
grants. So, just disregard that feature
on here. Um,
and the last section that I'll just give
a friendly reminder for um for settings,
there is the option to update this URL,
but the community foundation is asking
that you don't even update that because
you won't be sharing it. you'll just be
sharing the Coastal Bend um direct like
overarching link.
So, um let's quickly go back to
peer-to-peer fundraising. And before we
move on to that, are there any other
questions that you all have? Uh we're
going to be doing a deep dive into
peer-to-peer fundraising. So, if you
have any questions about that, maybe
hold off. But I know we we covered a
lot. So before we move on and lose those
questions,
>> we do have a question.
>> Okay.
Just a quick one. The donate all that
was available previously, how are they
handling that?
>> Um Tracy, I don't believe we talked
about that.
So the donate to all, we do have a
profile that is on the website. It's a
Coastal Bend Community Foundation donate
to all
and this is for donors who want to make
a contribution to all the participation
participating charities.
And instead of adding every
65 charities onto their cart, they can
simply just contribute to that one
profile that is on the site and it'll
automatically be divided equally amongst
the all 65 participating charities.
And we do currently have that profile on
there. Now,
any other questions?
Good question, Tina.
All right. Well, I will carry on.
Okay. So, now let's talk more about
peer-to-peer fundraisers. So,
for anyone unfamiliar,
um peer-to-peer fundraising is a
technique where a nonprofit leverages
existing supporters such as board
members, volunteers, etc. to bring in
new supporters and donors by asking them
to create a fundraiser and share on with
their social networks or share with
their peers asking for donations.
So, let's look at the benefits of
peer-to-peer fundraising. First,
peer-to-peer fundraising can help with
donor acquisition, which I know is a big
goal for nonprofits.
Um, helping to spread the word about the
organization you're helping to fund
raise for can help rally new supporters
for the organization, which is
absolutely amazing. Secondly,
peer-to-peer fundraising gives uh the
peer-to-peer fundraiser a great
opportunity to learn how to advocate for
that organization and better understand
their work so they can help spread the
word.
Another benefit is that peer-to-p peer
fundraising could expand the
organization's reach by finding more
supporters. So, it's not just financial,
but potentially finding new volunteers
as well and just educating the community
about that organization.
So, the last one that I'll mention is
that the organization could raise more
funds with peer-to-peer fundraising. So,
as many of you know, um nonprofits
typically have a very limited bandwidth.
So helping the fundraising team could be
a huge huge lift as long as those
peer-to-peer fundraisers are supported
and um sharing out the correct
information which we'll talk about a
couple strategies on how to help them do
that.
Okay. So, um, peer-to-p peer fundraising
on the Mighty Cause platform, uh, looks
like your supporters creating an
individual or team page to fund raise
for your organization. So, individual
peer-to-peer fundraisers are created by
a supporter to help solicit donations.
And team pages are made up of multiple
individual fundraiser pages. So, for
example, a team page could be made up of
fundraisers for like each member of a
football team or each member of your
board, something like that.
So, supporters can easily create a
peer-to-peer fundraiser by going to your
organization page and clicking the
fundraise button at the top.
Once they click that fundraise button on
your organization's page, the Mighty
Cause fundraiser creation wizard will
take them through setting up and
publishing their fundraiser page. So,
they can opt into using the fundraising
template that your organization has set
up, which we'll talk about on the next
slide. And regardless of if they use the
template, they can customize their
fundraising page to talk more about
their own personal connection to your
organization.
Okay. So, um, setting up the fundraising
template. The fundraising template is,
um, basically a template for all of the
peer-to-p peer fundraisers to use when
creating their own peer-to-peer
fundraiser.
So, this template will pre-fill text and
images onto the fundraiser page. So,
when a supporter goes to create that
peer-to-peer fundraiser page using the
template, they are not starting from a
blank page, which can be really
intimidating. There will already be text
and images um and then they can go from
there and modify it. But by having this
peer-to-peer fundraiser, um really gives
them a jumping off point and it helps
standardize it helps standardize the
language that you want people um talking
about your organization. So, it's a
really great educational tool as well.
So, supporters can still customize their
fundraiser page like I mentioned. So,
they can get creative and if they have a
really great picture from a volunteer
opportunity from your organization, they
can put that as um the main image or
they can just throw it into the about
section, etc. They can also add videos
of them, you know, making a personal ask
to all of their friends and family
saying, "This is why this organization
is so important to me, and I really hope
you consider supporting them as well."
Um, they can also update the goals uh if
they have a personal goal for their
peer-to-peer fundraiser page. So, it
should largely have the same or similar
text uh as your organization's page.
just so it's consistent and has um
consistent branding.
But uh we do also see that there are a
lot of benefits of like a board member
for instance saying this organization is
absolutely amazing. Here's my personal
experience. So, um,
let's go into the page.
And so, as an organization
administrator, you can check the status
of all of the peer-to-peer fundraisers
that have been created by navigating to
fundraising tools and then campaigns,
which we looked at a little bit earlier.
From there, um, if you want to make
updates or just look at any of the
peer-to-p peer pages, you can click on
the three dots on the right side of
those peer-to-peer pages that you'd like
to edit or look at. Um, and then click
uh campaign dashboard.
If a peer-to-peer fundraiser is having
trouble editing their own page, this is
also uh the way that you would go in and
help them edit their page or answer any
questions that they might have. You also
have the ability to toggle
discoverability of the peer-to-p peer
fundraisers on and off. So, this impacts
whether the public will be able to
search the peer-to-peer fundraiser or
not. Um, that's again by clicking the
three dots next to the peer-to-peer
fundraiser and then clicking toggle
discoverability.
Okay. So, next we're going to go into
automated emails. But does anyone have
any questions about peer-to-peer
fundraising?
Okay,
so automated emails.
You all have access to two um really
fantastic automated emails which from
the title you might be able to guess
that these are emails that are
automatically sent from the platform
after you customize them and um like opt
in for them to be sent out. So you can
access this feature. Uh here I'll share
my screen.
So you can access that feature under
fundraising tools and then automated
emails.
So
um just a couple key notes. The ones
that are available to you all are for
peer-to-peer creation. Um, and the
welcome message. So, this first one,
peer-to-peer creation, would be
automatically sent within 48 hours of
someone creating a peer-to-peer page.
So, this could be a welcome message and
um potentially giving them next steps or
key dates that they need to mark on
their calendar as a peer-to-peer
fundraiser.
So you can go in and edit it by clicking
edit content. And then similarly to
editing um the organization page, you
can just click into the text box that
you want to edit um and then use the
inline text editor. You also have the
option to add uh merge variables. So,
for instance, if you want every single
one of these emails to include like the
creator's first name, the peer-to-peer
fundraiser creator's first name or um
the fundraiser name, etc. You can
customize it there. Then at the top, you
can also send a test email.
And going back to that main page, you
can toggle it on by clicking this toggle
and making sure that it's blue. That
means that every single time someone
creates a new peer-to-peer fundraiser,
um, this email will be sent to them. So,
I'll toggle that off for now. Uh, moving
on to this next one, we also have the
welcome message that you all can send.
Uh, so this will welcome new donors
within 48 hours of their first donation.
So, this could be a really fantastic
touch point. Uh the donors will of
course already get the thank you email
or sorry the thank you page and then um
receipt email but within the first 48
hours sending another touch point um
that could have you know a special
message about upcoming events or other
action items that they could take or
just another thank you. Um this could be
a really great tool to do that. So
again, just click into edit and you can
make updates to the sender name, replied
to email, um, and then the email
content.
Okay, so let's navigate back.
Well, any questions about the automated
emails?
We do have a question.
>> Okay.
Are all the automated emails optional?
>> Yes. Yes. So, they're defaulted to
unchecked. So, until you go in and
manually uh toggle them on, they will
not be sent.
>> The only one we ask you not to use is
the yearly donation reminder automated
email,
which is on the blue sheet.
Yes, thank you, Tracy. Um, yeah, that
was the last one at the bottom of those
automated emails. Um, but just ignore
that one.
Okay, any other questions about that?
>> We do have one other.
>> Okay.
Who's the auto reply to if they choose
to reply? Will it be the organization or
will it be Coastal Bend? So you can
actually customize that
um in that edit page here. Let me let me
bring it back.
Yeah. So that's a great question. Um,
once you go into automated emails and
then click edit content up here at the
top under email setup, you can adjust
the sender name that's going to show in
the email as well as the reply to email.
since they'll be creating the uh
fundraisers on behalf of your
organization,
you can put your uh email address there
so they can reply to you and if they
have any questions to you as well.
All right. Um well, I will just move on
to these last couple of slides. So, I
did want to share some support resources
because I know we um threw a lot of
information at you. So, if you have any
questions throughout the registration um
post-registration preparation or giving
day process, just know that you do have
a team of people ready to help. And you
can also find readily available
trainings and marketing materials um in
the Coastal Ben Day of Giving nonprofit
toolkit. But for technical assistance,
you can reach out to support
mightycaus.com via email. Um, they are
available year round, Monday through
Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern.
And for all other inquiries, you can
check out the frequently asked questions
page, which will be posted soon. Um, and
if that still doesn't answer your
question, uh, the Coastal Bend Community
Foundation would also be happy to help.
Um, okay. Well, now I was just going to
move on to questions. So, are there any
other questions about things that we've
covered today? Um, questions either for
Tracy or I.
>> We do have a few.
>> Okay.
>> I'm sorry, I can't speak. Okay.
So, going back, I'm wondering um about
the annual fundraising events. We do
have one called Heroes that we do
yearly.
It happens in October.
We do this uh every year. We do get
donors and they go through our dev
center page
and it goes all the way through
December.
Are we able to refer those people to
through the coastal ben or do we need to
hold on that or how does that actually
work?
>> Well, for your event page and link, you
will have to deactivate that on your
website during the blackout dates
uh which is November 2nd through the
11th.
>> So, we detour the to the donors to go
through your page, right?
>> Yes.
>> Okay, great. Thank you. Sure.
>> Okay. Thank you.
>> Any other questions?
We do have another.
>> Thank you. Using this new platform, will
we be able to access prior years donors
as we did on the previous platform?
Unfortunately, when the migration
happened,
uh we're not able to
do reports from last year's donor's
list.
Um but if a donor does need a receipt, I
am able to pull
the donation information for a donor.
But the organizations cannot pull a
donor list from last year. But once we
complete this first year with Mighty
Cause next year and the years after,
you'll be able to pull those uh lists.
You're welcome.
>> Our prior platform sold this wasn't our
choice. I mean, it's it's working fine,
but I'm just going to tell you, um, you
know, there's a lot of movement in these
organizations, and so this was, um, the
best, uh, situation that we could have,
but it it wasn't it was was put on as
>> Yes. It wasn't our decision to move, but
Neon One was not going to be hosting any
more giving days and so we had to
migrate over to a new merchant and
Mighty Cause was able to do that for us.
>> Yes, for asking, but do you imagine that
next year's fee increase will be
Well, I believe the only fee that should
go up next year is the platform fee.
This year it is 2.8, but I believe next
year will go up to 3%
because of the migration. They were able
to give us a little break this year.
>> Yes. But next year will increase just a
tad bit so that we can also be level
with all the other giving days that they
host.
Any
other questions?
There's one over here.
>> So, when we do our reporting for after
this day of giving and those questions
about the donors from last year versus
this year, we won't have to do those
since we don't have access to that
information.
Um, that's a good question. On the grant
report,
yeah, you'll have access to the new
donor's uh information, but if you
happen to have um exported that donor
list, which you should have because you
had to have used it for this most recent
grant reporting, then you should be able
to uh do that.
>> So, the reporting is going to be the
same. That's
>> Yes. Okay.
Any other questions?
No other questions?
Okay. Well, I can jump into some
friendly reminders.
Okay. So, just a couple big overarching
friendly reminders. Um, so offline gifts
are allowed, check gifts are allowed,
but they will only count towards the
overall totals and the community
foundation must be the one to enter
those. Um, and along with that, you uh
cannot exchange tangible goods or
services for donations. Um, and if we
that is a mighty cause rule, so we'll
just be keeping a lookout for that and
reach out to you if we see anything um
to that effect. And then I'll just
review if you um you all have the one
pager with all of these features to
ignore, but if for whatever reason you
wanted to take a picture of this, etc.
um these are the features to ignore the
first page and then the second page. So,
as you're exploring the platform, I
would just encourage you to continue
referring back to this um and in this
first year because you're getting used
to this new platform. Probably just
focus on uh analyzing the donation
report as donations start to come in.
Um, as well as, uh, looking at
peer-to-peer fundraising, getting that
fundraiser template set up, um, and
encouraging your current supporters to
expand your reach by creating those
pages.
All right. Well, that is all I have. Um,
Tracy, do you want to close us out?
>> Yes. I just wanted to ask if there are
any other questions you may have before
um, we end the meeting. I also meant to
mention earlier that the bag that you
received uh each of you received per
organization.
Uh that was because the close day of
giving was selected and voted as the
best annual fundraiser this year for the
Ben magazines
um
fundraiser. And thank you all to
everyone who voted for the fundraiser
and uh please enjoy your bag and um we
wish you all luck. If you ever have
questions, please call us at the
foundation. We'll be more than happy to
help. And here's to a great 2026 day of
giving.
And
