Video summary

The video documents a dedicated teacher's journey through her final week of preparation before the start of the fourth-grade school year, beginning on August 3rd with pre-service meetings and culminating in the first day of classes. The educator shares personal details about her morning routine, including wearing custom t-shirts from Teachers Gram and preparing specific snacks like sourdough cream cheese, energy drinks, and high-protein items such as smoked oysters for herself and her teammates during lunch breaks. She also highlights practical tools she uses to streamline her workflow, specifically showcasing label makers from Nimbot which she utilizes to organize take-home folders with clear instructions on what students should bring back or leave at home, ensuring a smooth transition between school and housework. As the "Meet the Teacher" night approaches, the teacher focuses heavily on logistical planning and classroom customization, utilizing AI tools like ChatGBT to optimize her seating chart for inclusivity and behavioral management. She explains how she strategically arranges students so that those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are always paired with proficient peers for support while ensuring no single student is left without a partner when others attend special services. Additionally, she addresses new state regulations in Arizona regarding artificial dyes and preservatives in food, preparing informational half-sheets to inform parents about upcoming birthday celebrations that must adhere to these healthy school laws. On the night before the first day, she deliberately avoids sending out her personal "Meet the Teacher" materials early on to prevent confusion or loss of documents among students who may not have attended the initial meeting. The narrative concludes with a reflection on the successful execution of the very first day of school, where the teacher expresses immense satisfaction and relief after observing that every student arrived prepared with their binders, water bottles, and lunches as instructed. Despite having to work late into the evening updating presentation slides from previous years, she feels accomplished and calm knowing her classroom is fully stocked and organized for the students' needs throughout the year. The video ends on a high note of excitement and love for her new class group, with plans to sort remaining supplies before heading home for dinner, setting an optimistic tone for what promises to be a great school year ahead.

[music] Good morning everyone and welcome back to another Apples and Tiara's vlog. Today is Monday, August 3rd. Today is August 3rd and today is day one of pre-ervice meetings. Wednesday is meet the teacher night and Thursday is the first day of school. So I thought I would vlog this week. Um since these first couple days are more meeting me meeting stuff. Um I figured I would just kind of take you guys through the week and then yeah, we're just going to try and squeeze in as much as we can in this vlog. Um, so I'm going to go get ready. I just need to put on a little bit of makeup. I'm going to put my hair up in a ponytail today cuz I just didn't feel like having to get up this morning and wash it. Um, and I'm also wearing another one of my teachers gram t-shirts. So, I'll quickly show you guys. I'm not going to show you the bottom half of this because it has my school name on it. Um, but it looks like this and it's just black and it has our school mascot and then it has our school name on the bottom. Um, and it's a size small just like the other two that I've shown you guys. But again, Teachers Graham is this adorable teacher t-shirt apparel website. Um, they have so many cute customizable t-shirts. Like you can get your mascot, your school name, your name, your grade level, on pretty much anything. Um, they also have really cute like patterned dresses. I'll show you guys because I think I might wear one on the first day of school. We'll see. Um, but I'll show you guys that uh this week. Um, but again, I do have a coupon code for teachers.com. So, if you guys are interested in grabbing some t-shirts or pretty much anything for back to school, then you guys can check out the coupon code that I have linked for you below and it'll get you some money off. All right, let's go get ready. It is 6:00. I have an hour until Nana and Papa get here to watch the boys and then I am off to my first meeting. So, let's go get ready. All right. And we are ready to go. Hair's up in a pony and makeup. Cute. Okay, for breakfast, I am having sourdough cream cheese. I'm also drinking an energy drink. I know you guys. I only bought two. I've been drinking coffee the last couple of weeks, though, so you'd be proud of me. Um, and then Scott's birthday was this last weekend, so I have a whole half of a German chocolate cake that I'm going to be taking to school with me for my teammates and I to enjoy before the school year starts. Also taking along a handful of snack items. I think we'll probably go out for lunch cuz we get like an hour and a half for lunchtime. So, we'll probably end up going out to eat as a team, but I am bringing a protein shake. I'm also bringing one of these new Lunchables from Costco. And then I also have a liquid death in the Dr. Pepper flavor. And then I also have oysters and crackers in there. Um, those are great protein. I don't know if you guys are interested in eating oysters or not, but if you are not afraid of them, they yield like 20 grams of protein per can. Let me show you. I get mine from fries. They're just smoked oysters. I like to eat them with mustard on a like Ritz style cracker. It's really good. Um, and like I said, it gives you a lot of protein. So, I'm going to bring all of that. I'm gonna have to stick it in my fridge, though, because I'm not putting an ice pack in there. Okay, it's 6:40. I think I'm going to go sit outside on the front porch and edit day four of classroom setup because that's currently what I'm working on. Wayne is already awake. He's been awake probably the last half hour. Um, but I'm not going to go get him. I'm going to let him sit in there for a little bit longer because if I get him up and then I try to leave, he will throw a huge tantrum and cry. So, I'm not going to go get him up. Um, I'm just going to let him sit in there. And it's fine because most days he does stay in his room until 7:00 a.m. Um, and that is because I sleep till 7:00. Um, so, but he's quiet. He's content. He's perfectly fine. So, he's just going to sit in there for a little bit longer. Um cuz again, I don't want him to cry when I leave. Okay, I'm going to go put this stuff. I'm going to eat my breakfast, edit the video, and then my mom will be here in just a few minutes. All right, friends. So, we just finished up our first set of meetings. It is only 10:15, which is great. Gives us a lot of time to work in our classrooms. Um, funny though, the fire marshall showed up right in the middle of our meeting and my principal was like, "Hey, if anybody has lights on their ceilings, go rip them down." So, I've ripped them down. Um, I am going to like formally ask the question, if I hang these up with a metal hook and fishing wire, can I hang them? Um, so we'll see. I'm going to like send a direct email um to the fire marshall and my principal to just find out because I don't want to play the guessing game. I don't want to get in trouble. I don't want to put them back up and [music] then back down. So, I'm going to put that on my list of things in addition to all the other [music] things. So, anyway, we are here. We have a few hours. [music] So, I am going to get to that. >> [music] >> I'm [music] [music] we are Heat. Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. [music] Uh-huh. [music] >> [music] >> Hello my friends. So it is Tuesday. It is about 12:45. I wanted to start finally working on a project that needs absolutely to be done by this evening because tomorrow is meet the teacher night and I just want to make sure all of it is finished. So, I am going to be putting together my meet the teacher folders. This is what they're going to look like on the inside. So, as you can see, I have my meet the teacher information on this side. anything that they need to sign and return is going to be on this side. So, what I need to do right now is not only stuff these folders, but also label them. And so, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to use my new label makers from Nimbot. So, in my last classroom setup vlog, I showed you guys my two brand new label makers from Nimbot. The first one I have is the B21 Pro, which is the vintage looking one. And then I also have the Nimbot N1 in white. And these are both label makers that I'm planning on using to label all of these folders. I think this is the perfect opportunity to do that. So, I think I'm going to use the B21 Pro for this project because I do like the idea of using the thermal tape uh to print these. And so, the thermal tape that I'm talking about is this size tape. Um, and so I am planning on using this. I think what I'll do is I'll use the yellow or I guess it's called brown. What's it called? I forget. I forget the color. But I'm going to use this color to label the front of their folders. And then I'm thinking I will probably just use Well, actually, maybe I'll use white because that's what's in there. I'll use white to do the front of the folders. And then I'll use this yellow to do the two sides of the folders because what I plan to do is put leave at home, bring it right back. Left side, leave it. Right side, bring it right back. Um, and then the front of the folder will just say take-home folder, like fourth grade take-home folder. And then this lives inside of the children's binders that they bring in. We ask for a halfinch binder to come in on the supply list. Most of the kids bring those in. Um, and then I do have a handful that are left over from last year that I purchased extra in case someone doesn't bring it. So, I think what I'm going to do right now is just get my Nimbot all set up. I'm going to show you guys how I work the app because it's all used right there on an app and then it directly prints from the app to the printer. Um, and then what I'm going to have to do is just lay out all the folders, label them, [music] and stuff them. So, I'm going to go to the bathroom real fast and then I'm [music] going to get started. >> [music] >> Just drinking with you. What you drinking? What you drinking? [music] Drinking with you. What you drinking? [music] What you drinking? You >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. >> [music] [music] >> What you drinking? [music] What's your life? What you drinking? What you drinking? You >> [music] [music] >> Just drinking with you. What [music] you drinking? What you drinking? >> [music] [music] >> So, if you are interested in checking out the Nimbot label maker, I will have both models linked right there, linked right at the top of the description box, as well as a special coupon code just for you. All right, you guys. So, all of my take-home folders have been labeled thanks to this amazing little label maker. I'm sure that I could probably have done something way more exciting or cute, but really I just needed to focus on getting this done. Um, and so, yay, all of those are labeled. I do have a few more other things in my room that need labeling, but I'm not going to do that right now. This is essential for back to school. So, like the first day of school, I did decide that I'm probably going to wait to send these home until the first day of school because I want them to go inside of their binders that they take to and from school. Um, this lives inside of their binder. Um, so typically the front inside pocket of the binder is where they would put any homework. So whether it's a math page or a spelling packet or something that needs to be completed and returned, that usually goes in the front pocket of their binder, I'll probably make labels for their binders that says homework for the front p pocket. And then in the back is just kind of where I keep extra storage. Um whether it's like something I passed back that I want them to keep or something like that. Like I just use the back of the binder as like just an extra random like, "Hey, throw this in the back pocket of your binder." Um, you know, it could be like a resource they could use at home or like maybe song lyrics I want them to work on. But anyway, so I think I might use this to label their front homework pocket in their binders. But I will have to wait to do that until all of the kiddos are here and they all have their binders. But what I'll do is just have them open their binder and I'll just come by and put their sticker on for them. It'll be a no-brainer. No big deal. So, I have a huge list of things that I need to get through today. Um, including my Vector Solutions trainings. I haven't really started those yet. Um, it is 1:15 right now. And so, I'm just going to go to my to-do list. A lot of it is just like admin stuff like printing binder uh covers, um, making or putting out name tags, like little things like that. So, if I'm not just sitting at my computer working on something on my computer, I will show you guys what I'm up to. But if I'm just sitting at my computer, I don't think you guys really need to see that. So, I will check in with you in just a moment. Hello everyone. Good morning. It is Wednesday and it is meet the teacher day, which means we have a lot of things to get done mostly over here. Okay, so this is the biggest hurdle that I need to attack today. I need to cut these out and hang them. These are just my time cards that go with my daily schedule. So, I need to do those. And then I am going to change my seating chart. And I actually had ChatGBT fix it because now that I have my students on an IEP's schedule, I know when they're going, I know how long they're going for. I know which blocks they're going to miss. I had chat GBT rearrange my seating chart so that there's a sped student at table intertwined with highly proficient and proficient students. But because they're a table of five, when that student is gone for their service minutes, there is still an equal number of partners at each table. But if they are present for an activity, they can work in a team of two proficient students. So they can get that peer guidance and peer interaction during partner work if they are here. Um and it works out perfectly. That way they always have peer support. Um and also when a sped student is not here the table is not like left high and dry with someone missing a partner. Obviously if someone's absent like that changes the game but if everyone is here everyone will always have a partner and our sped students will always be in a team of three. So then Chad also um balanced all of the behavior students, not putting any of them together. Now that we have groups of five, it is much easier to keep the behavior students separate. Um so I had chat GBT do that for me. And so I need to I think what I'm going to do first is do those schedule cards cuz that's kind of like a cutting situation. And then I will just move uh the seating chart. A lot of them aren't moving. It's just like a couple kids that are moving spots. So, I'm going to do that. And then I just need to clear off this table before meet the teacher night. And then instead of sending home my meet the teacher information, I thought maybe I would just do a little half sheet um that just has like first day information on it, like letting them know, hey, their binders and folders will come home tomorrow with all of the back to school documents. Um, make sure tomorrow that your kiddos have their water, their lunch, and they know how they're getting home. Um, and then also, um, there was like another thing I took notes on. Let me see, where's my notebook? Something I wanted to include in that. It's just going to be a little half sheet. And then I'm just going to have my about me up on the TV screen for them to look at. Um, I was going to have transportation stuff. So, like make sure your kid knows how they're getting home. Oh, information about the new Arizona Healthy Schools law where they are not allowed to bring in um foods with any artificial dyes or preservatives. There's like a list of ingredients that we can no longer serve. So, I am going to have to address like birthday celebrations. they are going to have to be like [snorts] without these ingredients or they cannot come to school. It's a new state law. So, don't shoot the messenger [laughter] um kind of situation. Um so, I'll have that on the half sheet, too, cuz I know there's some birthdays coming up in August and September. So, I just want to make sure everybody knows that. So, I'll have that out on their table for them to take in addition to the documents that my office wants me to have them take today. But I'm not going to send anything for me personally home until the first day. That way I can make sure every single kid gets it and they all take it home the same time. Sometimes I find that when you put too much out from Meet the Teacher, it's hard to track who has it and who doesn't, even when you leave it on the top of the desk, like there's a chance that someone takes someone else's and then like by accident. So I'm not going to put anything that I absolutely need them to have out tonight. I'm just going to send them home what they need. Um, and then send all of my personal stuff out tomorrow uh on the first day. So, I'm going to get to work and then I'll check in. We'll check in with you guys in a little bit. Hey you guys. So, I completely did not film anything, but meet the teacher just finished. As you can see, I have a lot of stuff in here from my students bringing things in and all of the big supplies has been sorted. I'm using these laundry baskets to sort like highlighters, markers, um, and glue sticks. Um, but it went really good. I was so excited to see all the kids. Um, but today or tomorrow is the first day of school. So, let me show you guys what is on their desk for when they come in tomorrow. Okay, so on their desk for tomorrow morning is a welcome to fourth grade coloring page and an our class family word search and it's just what they're going to be working on as they come in in the morning. And then I also gave out today Arizona's healthy school act classroom snack guide. Um, it is something that we have to follow now that Arizona has become a healthy state. >> And then I just always put a little half sheet of information on the desk. I don't send home any meet the teacher stuff or any documents I need returned because not everybody comes at meet the teacher and I hate having to track and figure out who was here and who wasn't. So, I will give all of that out tomorrow in their binders when I hand out their take-home folders and all of that. So, I am going to have to take my computer home with me because I don't have very many slides ready for tomorrow. Most of them I can probably copy and paste from last year, but there are a few that I need to update. So, I'm going to be a busy bee this evening when I get home. So, wish me luck. Hello, my friends. It is 4:00 at the end of the day on the first day of school. I'm just sitting here organizing supplies because my kids have everything they need and I am now putting the extras where they're going to go for the rest of the year. And I got to tell you, I had the best day. My kids are so sweet, so good. didn't have a single behavior problem. Like when I tell you, I think I hit the jackpot this year. I think everything I went through last year made me really appreciate a good group. So, let me tell you, I've got the group. I love them. I'm lowkey obsessed with them a little bit. Um, they're all so amazing. I cannot wait for this school year. It's going to be great. Um, but yes, I'm sorting supplies. Oh, those are pencils. Okay, just um I'm just sorting supplies into my supply cabinet. It is overflowing with supplies. So, I don't think anyone ever complained about that. Um, I'm actually borderline running out of space. So, I think I'm literally going to have just enough room in here. Um, I had the intention of filming today and letting you guys know what we were going to be doing, but as you guys probably know, the day got ahead of me. I got everything I needed to get done done. Um, and I feel good. I feel accomplished. I feel calm. I feel at peace. I feel excited. I'm ready for the school year. So, tomorrow, day two, Friday, another day of fluff and community building and all that stuff. And then Monday is when we hit the ground running. So, I have all my supplies sorted here. It's ready for the kids to come and get what they need. And I couldn't be more happy. I just love every single one of them. They're just they're great. They're wonderful. So, I'm gonna get out of here. I'm gonna go home and hang out with my kids. And I think we're going to go out for dinner cuz I do not have the energy to cook or clean up after cooking today. So, I think we're going to just go and pick up some food. I'm feeling a hamburger. Hamburger sounds good. All I had to eat today was some eggs this morning. I had a lunchable, like a healthy lunchable for lunch. And that's it. All I eat [music] today. So, I know I need to go eat that. This is the road and [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hey, hey, hey. [music] >> [music] >> Hey, [music]
