So um we are studying Paul's >> which one? >> Third. Second missionary journey. Right. Okay. So we'll continue with that. We just have a little more left and then we would move on to the third missionary journey. Okay. So before we look at uh Paul's and continue studying Paul's second missionary journey, let's pause for a word of prayer. Can one of you please lead us in prayer please? Anyone heavenly father Jesus Christ, we thank you for giving us this wonderful day. Father Lord we give uh ma'am into your hands letter leader lead us guide us give us the wisdom knowledge to understand what has been taught in the class father Lord we give all the students both online and offline into your hands father bless them with the understanding and also heal them whoever is sick all this we ask in Jesus mighty name. Amen. >> Amen. So Paul's second missionary journey, we saw that he started off from Antioch in Syria. Uh Paul and Silas set out uh and they parted ways with Barnabas. Then Paul and Silas go to Derby and Lististra. Acts chapter 16 uh where po verse one where Paul meets Timothy here at Lististra and takes him along. Then they go to the regions of Galatia and Pygia. Acts chapter 16 verse uh six. Uh yeah >> okay. You can put that map the first and second this one. Okay. Then they go to Tro and Paul receives the Macedonian vision. Not this one. Go to the second or the third one where the map is given. Not this second one. You go. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So he goes to Lististra then comes to the regions of Galatia and Peria. From there they go to Trrowass. You can see that on the map. Okay. Acts 16 8-10. Uh where Paul receives the Macedonian vision and Luke joins the theme here. Okay. Uh and that's where he begins to talk about the V passages where Dr. Luke who writes the book of Acts is also part of Paul's missionary journey. And then they go to Neopololis which is a seapport okay seap port of Philippi. So the uh the place Philippi is on your map which is a landing point in Macedonia. Okay. And at Philippi we see that Paul converts Lydia and Paul and Silas are imprisoned. There's an earthquake and there's a conversion of the Philippian jailer. From there they pass through the cities of Ampia and Apollinia on their way and they come to Thessalonica. So you can see Thessalonica on your map. Acts 17. We read that in Acts chapter 17. You're not able to see Thessalonica. >> Yes ma'am. You can >> Yeah, you can make the map bigger. It's very close to Philippi, Macedonia. Okay. Yeah. >> Uh so Paul there preached in a synagogue and many of them believed and the opposition forced Paul and Silas to leave that place. Okay. Then they come to Berea. Can you see Berea? Very close to um Macedonia. >> Yeah. Just below Macedonia. >> Yes. So we see that when he came to Berea, Acts chapter 17 um uh 10-15, the Berians searched the scriptures daily and Jews from Thessalonica stirred up trouble again for him. Okay. Then Paul comes to Athens. Can you see an come right down? >> Yes ma'am. >> Corner left hand side of the map. Okay. That is Aans. Yes. So Paul preached at the Aropagus over there and then Paul goes from an to Corinth very close by you can see Corinth also there he meets Aquilan Priscilla he works as a tent maker. Yeah you can share the keep that laptop in the center so he can also see and they work as a tent maker. Paul ministered at Corinth for 18 months and he also wrote the book of 1 and 2 Thessalonians or the letter to the church of Thessalonica from here. Then Paul goes to Sinceria Acts 18 1 to uh Acts 18 verse 18 where he goes and Paul has his hair cut there because of a wow. Okay. So that's where we stop right uh last week. Okay. So we'll continue from there. Okay. So we see that in uh the early AD52 Paul and his team travel from Corinth about 12 miles to Sinceria. Okay. And at Sinceria we see that uh Paul travels to this place along with um Aquilla and Priscilla. Okay. Okay. And Paul had his hair cut off because he had taken a wow. We read about this in Acts 18:18. And he was determined to reach Jerusalem in time for the feast. Okay. But before he goes to Jerusalem, there's a brief stop that he makes in Ephesus. So we can go right down to slide 13. Okay. So from Sinia Paul um sailed uh across the Aian Sea and he goes to um Ephesus. We read about this in Acts chapter 18 18- 20. Now the city of Ephesus was a very important city in Asia Minor. It was one of the first and the greatest metropolis in Asia. And it was very famous for the temple of Dina. The the city of Ephesus was known for this temple Dina. Uh it was one of the largest building in existence at that time. It was actually one of the seven wonders of the world. This temple of Dina in Ephesus, it was constructed entirely of marble and all the streets leading to this temple was paved with marble. Okay? And the temple itself took 220 years to build. And it housed it had a statue of a multi- breast goddess Dina who the Ephesians believed came right down from heaven. Okay. Or from the sky. Sorry, not heaven. From the sky. More safer to say from the sky. We read that in Acts chapter 19:35. But Paul when he goes to Ephesus, he preaches in the synagogue at Ephesus. We read about this in Acts chapter 18 verse 19 uh 19. But he did not stay long there because he had a plan to reach where where he was planning to go. Was where was Paul planning to go? Just now I said right where was he planning to go to? Jerusalem. >> So he left Aquilla and Priscilla at Ephesus. We read that about that in Acts 18:E 19. And he moved ahead towards Jerusalem. Okay. So let's uh read Acts chapter 18 24- 28 which records the ministry of Opouls. Can you move on to slide 14 please? >> Shall I read ma'am? >> Yeah. Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord and been fervent in spirit. He spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Akila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. And when he desired to cross to Acha, the brethren wrote, exorting the disciples to receive him. And when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace. For he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the scriptures that Jesus is the Christ. Amen. >> Amen. Thank you. So Aquila and Frisilla meet uh Paul at EP uh uh and also Apollus at Ephesus and they teach Apollos more accurately about the Lord Jesus Christ. Okay. Why do they have to teach Apollos? because he was fervent in the spirit and so that he could teach the things of God accurately because he was an eloquent man and he was mighty in scriptures. Mighty in scriptures means what? Mighty in the Old Testament scriptures. So you know they taught him about the Lord Jesus Christ so that he can accurately speak about the things of the Lord and he also only knew the baptism of John the Baptist. Okay. And um he was speaking very boldly in the synagogue. So when Aquilla and Priscilla saw that he had the zeal and the fervor, they took him aside and they explained the way of Jesus more accurately. Okay. Um so later we see that you know they send him to Corenth with a letter of recommendation and Apollos proved to be a big blessing to the believers at Corenth what we just read in Acts 18:24-28. Now Paul came back to Ephesus later and he accomplished some very important things there. And from Ephesus Paul you know he um journeyied uh or sailed to Ceeria. It was about 30 days covering uh uh some 650 miles. And from Ceeria he traveled 70 miles to Jerusalem. And at Jerusalem he greeted the church there. And this was his fourth visit to Jerus the church of Jerusalem after his conversion. So after his time in Jerusalem, Paul goes back to his home church. Where is his home church? Antioch in >> Syria. Okay, we read that in Acts 18:22. Now Aquil and Priscilla later returned to Rome after spending time both in Corenth and at Ephesus. So this entire period of Paul's second missionary journey lasted about three years and it was longer than his first journey and he traveled around 190 miles and this time he extended his reach covering about 250 miles and going to many more places than before. Okay, you want to go to the next slide? What's the next slide? I'm not uh sure. Yeah. So you see there um you know uh Aquulan Priscilla teaching Apollos slide 16. Yeah. So you can see how Paul travels. Okay. All the way from Ephesus >> to Cesaria and then to Jerusalem and from Jerusalem to his home church in Antioch. Okay. The next slide. So you see Paul's missionary journey there. First missionary journey 1,900 miles. Second missionary journey uh 2,500 miles. Okay. Approximately 3 years. Yeah. The next slide. Okay. So keep it there. Some highlights from his second missionary journey. Paul's ministry in Athens and Corinth. So Aans and Corinth are major cities and both of them are very prominent cities in the Romans the Roman province of Aka. Aens was renowned for its intellectual and philosophical heritage while Corinth was known for its economic prosperity, immorality and pursuing pleasure. Both cities presented significant opportunities and challenges for ministry. Okay. And we see Paul's approach. Um you want to go to the next slide is I no you keep that the previous slide only. Yeah. So Boris Paul's approach despite the challenges Paul ministered with the power and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Okay. He uh very effectively communicated the message of Jesus Christ and his ministry led to the establishment of local church communities in both the cities of anth ministered and how he understood what spiritual warfare is. Next slide. Okay. We see that um Paul recognized that the real challenge in evangelism was spiritual blindness caused by the god of this world. Who is the god of this world? He's referring to Satan who blinds the mind of unbelievers. That's what Paul writes in 2 Corinthians chapter 4:E4. So this highlights the spiritual warfare aspect of ministry. Okay. Also we see that Paul preaches Christ and the cross. Paul consistently focused on preaching Christ and his work on the cross. 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20- 24 we read that he emphasized the centrality of Christ's u sacrifice for salvation and avoided being distracted by all other arguments. So we see that Paul could have got into a lot of arguments but he focuses on the centrality of Christ sacrifice for our salvation. Okay. the power of the spirit. Um yeah, so when Paul engaged with cultural and philosophical ideas, he did not rely on human reasoning alone. Instead, he ministered with the power of the Holy Spirit and he demonstrated signs, miracles, and wonders. How do we know that? Because when he writes back to the church at Corenth, look at what he says in 1 Corinthians chapter 2:es 3 and 4. Can you read that please someone? 1 Corinthians chapter 2 3 and 4. >> I was with you in weakness in fear and in much trembling and my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the spirit and of power. Amen. >> So what is Paul saying? Thank you. When I came to you in Corenth, I came in what? How did he come? Weakness, fear, and much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with >> persuasive words. >> Yeah. Not with words that by my human understanding that would persuade you, but in the demonstration of the spirit and by power. And that is how he confirmed the gospel message to him. We also see that Paul refrained from pointless arguments. Which slide is this? You go to the 20th one. No, we can just keep in the Yeah. Yeah. So, we see that um you know uh Paul refrained from pointless arguments and debates. He believed that such disputes were unproductive but he kept focused on preaching the gospel and demonstrating the truth uh to the powers sp the the power of the spirit. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Let's see. This is the 19th one. What is that? 20 20th one is what? Can you go to the 20th slide, please? Okay, I think we finished this. Okay, the next slide. Yeah. So here we see an very interesting thing after you know uh Paul goes to the city of Antioch Peter also visited the city of Antioch where Paul was during the spring hol season. And Peter's be uh behavior in Antioch became a issue of major importance. Why? Because initially when when Peter came to Antioch, he ate and fellowshipped with the gentile believers. Okay? Which was consistent with the message that they were all preaching and teaching that salvation was for all uh not just for the Jews. Okay? But when some Jewish believers from Jerusalem arrived, Peter withdrew from the Gentiles. He did not associate with the Gentiles. He yielded to the pressure to conform to his Jewish customs which implied the Gentiles were not fully accepted and it was contradicting what the apostles and the and Paul and everybody were teaching and preaching that the gospel is inclusive of both Jews and Gentiles. And so we see that Paul notices this and what does he do? He confronts Peter. That means he asks him okay Peter you know you're a senior apostle and uh he confronts him why are you behaving like this you were eating with the Gentiles now when the Jews from Jerusalem came you're suddenly changing you don't associate with the Gentiles you're only associating with the Jews that is not right so we see that Paul was not afraid to correct Peter because Peter's actions would influence other leaders also very very negatively. Okay. So we see that Paul demonstrated courage in correcting a fellow leader to uphold the truth of the gospel. Okay. Yes, we know that Paul respected Peter as somebody who was an apostle. His respect for him remained but his greater commitment was for the truth that salvation is through Christ alone and not through the law. Okay. So that is very very important. So sometimes when you know we see things that are wrong, we don't attack the person but we confront them what they doing is right or wrong you know and we speak about it. Okay. Uh then we see also uh during his journey um what's the next slide? 22. Okay. uh during his journey, Timothy joined Paul at Lististra and he became one of Paul's uh closest companions and was later entrusted with major responsibilities in the church. We also see the author of Acts Dr. Luke joined the team at Trrowaz. Um, and that is why we read some of the passages in the book of Acts where it talks about we where it's talking about Paul, Silas, Timothy, uh, and Luke and we see that Luke stayed back at Philippi for a time and rejoined uh, you know, Paul later. So their involvement shows grow growing uh team dynamics in Paul's ministry that when Paul was doing ministry he was not doing it all alone but he was doing it as a team. Okay. So by the end of Paul's second missionary journey what is the there are more slides. What is the last one there are? Yeah. Okay. Let this be. Okay. So by the end of Paul's second missionary journey, Paul had established key churches in which are the places he established churches. In the second missionary journey, come on, tell me quickly. >> Philippi, very good. >> Philippi, >> Corinth, Aens, Ephesus, very good. >> Thessalonica, >> Berea. Okay. So we see that it opened a door of the gospel to Europe. Before it was only Asia but now you see how the revival fire spreads even to Europe and he strengthened the existing churches that he went on his first journey as well. He also see that he modeled contextual evangelism. That means wherever there were synagogues he went he minister to the Jews. Wherever there were people like the philosophers, de the debaters, the women who met in the riverside, the marketplace where people were working, he went everywhere. He established himself and he ministered to people. He traveled around 250 miles by land and sea for about 3 years. That is AD 49 to AD 52. So that is Paul's second missionary journey. Okay, any questions? What's the last slide? Any questions? Paul's second missionary journey. No questions. Are you learning some things? Okay. So, we'll move on to Paul's third missionary journey. Okay. Paul's third missionary journey which we read from acts chapter 18 verse 23 onwards. Okay. So unlike u the other unlike Paul's um first and second journeys uh where he ventured into new territories and planted new churches. In his third missionary journey, he primarily focuses on strengthening the existing churches and building up leaders. So he goes back to the places that he had gone in his first and second missionary journey and he strengthens the existing churches and builds up their leaders. Okay, we're able to display it. We just wait for him to display the slide. Yes, you got it. Okay, thank you. So, here's Paul's third missionary journey uh from uh AD 53 to AD 57. We read about this in Acts 18 verse 23 to Acts chapter 21 verse 17. Okay. uh a total of um three years, okay, and two continents that he goes to. Okay. And uh his journey almost lasted uh you know, put the second slide please. Yeah. Uh journey lasted about um four years but out of those four years he spends almost three years in Ephesus. very interesting. In none of his other journeys, he spent so much time in one place. But in his third missionary journey, out of the four years that his third missionary journey lasted, three years were spent only in Ephesus. So interestingly, although Paul did not travel to new regions this time, the distance covered was about the same as the second missionary journey, which is approximately 2,500. miles. Okay. So, let's see Paul's root and ministry that he goes the third one in Galatia and Fiberia. Okay. Third slide. So, we see that Paul begins his missionary journey from Antioch in Syria. Can you see Antioch in Syria? Uh the corner bottommost uh place on the right hand side of the screen. From there he traveled through the regions of Galatia. So, what are the regions of Galatia? Derby, Lististra and Iconium. Can you see Derby Lististra and Iconium? >> Yes. >> Okay. From there he goes to Pacidia in Antioch. Can you see Pidia and Antioch? >> Yes. >> And from there he goes to Pyia >> and he's all these places that he went in his first and second missionary journey and he strengthens all the disciples and the churches along the way. We read about this in Acts 18:23. From there Paul journeyied all the way to Ephesus. Can you see Ephesus? Yes. The corner most on the left hand side of the map. >> Ephesis >> map is >> it's not there. >> Why? >> We are not able to see. >> Huh? >> It's not. >> You're not able to see. Okay. Network is gone. >> Ephesis. network is gone but we have I'm having it all of you can hear me >> yes ma'am >> yes >> oh we can hear ma'am but uh we are not able to see the presentation >> yeah we're not able to see the presentation because there's no network sorry just a minute please ah now it's back >> ah now it's back >> now it's back thank you sir Don't worry. So he goes all the way to Ephesus. Okay. So from there Paul journey to Ephesus a city where he would spend three years the majority of this missionary journey. Okay. Slide four. At this point Apollos was ministering in Corenth. Okay. And before arriving there Apollus had previously ministered in Ephesus. And when Paul arrived in Ephesus, he met a group of disciples who had been influenced by Apollos. You know Apollus, right? Who was Apollus? >> Yes. >> He was ministering at Ephesus. And who ministered to Apollos in Ephesus? >> Aquilla and Priscilla ministered to him. So he had previously ministered in Ephesus. And when Paul appeared uh sorry arrived in Ephesus he met a group of disciples who had been influenced by Paul's teaching but they had not yet received the Holy Spirit. >> So look at Acts chapter 19 verse 6. What does Paul do? Acts chapter 19 verse 6. What does Paul do? >> Paul had laid hands on them. He laid hands on them >> came upon them >> and the Holy Spirit came upon them and what what happened they started >> they spoke with tongues >> they spoke in tones >> and they also >> prophesied so there were about 12 men in this group so this marked the beginning of Paul's work in Ephesus okay now let's read Acts chapter 19 8-22 can u slide five please so let's read Acts chapter 19 verse 8-22. Can somebody read that? We look at what happened. Paul's ministry in Ephesus. >> And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for 3 months. >> One minute. This is Paul's ministry in Ephesus. Okay. Continue. >> And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannos. And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia, heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. Now God worked unusually unusual miracles by the hands of Paul so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. Then some of the itinerarian Jewish exhausters took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "We exorcise you by Jesus whom Paul preaches. Also there were seven sons of a Jewish chief priest who did so." And the evil spirits answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know, but who are you?" Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus and fear fell on them all and the name of L of the Lord Jesus was magnified and many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Amen. >> Amen. >> Up to 18. >> Till verse uh 22 please. >> Till 22 is it? Sorry. >> Yes. Also many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all and they counted up the value of them and it totally it totaled 50,000 pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. When these things were accomplished, Paul proposed in the spirit when he had passed through Macedonia and aa to go to Jerusalem, saying after I have been there, I must also see Rome. So he went, he sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Araus, but he himself stayed in Asia for a time. Amen. >> Amen. Thank you. So here we see Paul's read Paul's ministry in Ephesus slide six. Uh Paul you know uh first went where in Ephesus when he reaches the where does he go and minister >> where does he go and minister first when he goes to Ephesus. Look at verse 8 in Acts 19. Where does he go first? synagogue. Yes. And how many months he's ministering boldly there? >> Three months. >> Three months. Yes. So ministers there three months. And when some rejected the message and became stubborn and publicly maligned the way that means they publicly you know um uh they badmouthed criticized about uh Jesus Christ and the way Paul withdrew with the disciples. Okay. Slide seven. we see that um he then begins teaching in the lecture hall of tinius and he teaches in this lecture hall for almost two years. So he's running a Bible school in uh in in Ephesus and he's teaching them for two years. Go back to slide six. Now through this extended uh teaching ministry all the Jews and Greeks in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord. You know uh we did read that in verse 10. If you look at verse 10 says this went on for two years. So all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus >> right or Jesus. Yes. So it was during this time when he was doing his ministry in Ephesus that seven churches of Asia that is mentioned in revelation chapter 2 and three. >> What are the seven churches? It's there on your screen. >> Ephesis, >> Leodia, >> Philadelphia, >> Sardis, >> Pergamos, >> and Simina were likely established here, not by Paul, but Paul's co-workers. So, everyone were coming, hearing Paul, being trained in that school, Bible school he was running, teaching in the hall of Tyrannius. And what did they do? They started going out and you see how revival is spreading. The seven churches were established in these seven cities in and around Ephesus. So it was likely established through Paul's co-workers and other evangelists who carried the message beyond Ephesus. So you see the powerful work that Paul God was doing through Paul's ministry at Ephesus. Okay. Um, we also read in verses 11 and 12, slide eight, please, that God did extraordinary miracles through Paul. What are the extraordinary miracles? >> They were healed by handkerchiefs and aprons. >> Yes. handkerchiefs and aprons that touched Paul when they were brought and they were put on people who were sick they were healed and the demon spirits those who are demonp possessed the spirits left them. Now many of you ask this question when Jesus says you will do exceedingly uh you know you will do greater things than what I have done the miracles right Jesus says you will do greater things so people ask what are the greater things this is one of the greater things that even handkerchiefs and aprons even pet uh Peter's shadow right when he was walking they would bring the sick even Peter's shadow when it falls upon them >> were healed so this is the greater things that Jesus Jesus was talking about is it only during that time or early church or can it be even today? >> Even today. >> Yes. Only if we desire and believe it. Okay. So these miracles were powerful demonstration of God's authority and they revealed that during this third missionary journey the signs and wonders not only continued but actually increased in intensity. So this shows us an important lesson that during the times of revival we can expect an increase in the miracles and the powerful works of God. Okay. Now there's an interesting story in verses 13- 16 that was read to us. What is the story in in uh 13- 16 about whom? >> Jewish >> 13- 16. Who was the story about? The seven sons ofKea, they were Jewish exhorsists who you know and they tried to use the invoke the name of Jesus and try to cast out you know demons the name of Jesus. So they say in the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches I command you to come out. But what is the evil spirit's reply? >> Jesus we know Paul we know but >> but who are you? >> Who are you? And the evil spirits overpowered them leaving them beaten and they had to run naked and humiliated. And what happened as a result of this? What happened as a result of it? Look at the verses. >> Christ's name was magnified. >> Yes. There was fear in Ephesus among both the Jews and Greeks about the name of Jesus. And the name of Jesus was held in high honor. Next. And many believers, you know, um, uh, confessed their sins. And those who practice sorcery publicly burned their scrolls. All witchcraft, sorcery, you see their scrolls, they burned it up and it the it valued around 50,000 dramas. That is a huge massive sum. But we see that the word of God spread widely and grew in power. like we read in acts 19 what we read verses 17- 20. So through this event we see how God powerfully confronted demonic powers, spiritual strongholds and works of darkness bringing many into the kingdom of God. Okay, next slide. So we see Paul's training and leadership development. Um we see during this extended time in Ephesus, Paul trained many uh young leaders. He also raised up elders or overseers to shepherd the believers at Ephesus. He also met Philemen and Epaphris from Colos which is 100 miles east of Ephesus. And the church at Colos was later established by Epapris. So, Epapris and Phileon came to um Ephesus. They were they were trained and taught under Paul and they go back to Colasse and they established the churches there. We also see that Titus was an active part of uh the ministry at the ministry team at Ephesus. Okay. So, we see Paul's this shows the multiplication strategy of Paul's ministry. What was Paul doing? It was not all about I, me, myself, but wherever he was going, what was he doing? He was preaching the gospel, establishing churches, and >> building up leaders, >> raising up leaders. Okay, so he was training the leaders to carry the gospel beyond his own reach. Next slide. We see Paul's future plans. Acts 19:21 we read that um that after establishing his work at Ephesus Paul planned to travel through Macedonia. So you can see there Macedonia and Aia and from Macedonia to AA he wanted to go all the way down to Jerusalem and then eventually he wanted to go to Rome. Okay. and his purpose was to go to Jerusalem was to deliver the financial uh gift color uh collected from the gentile churches to support the believers there in Jerusalem. We read about this in 1 Corinthians chapter 16 verse 1-4 Corinthians 8:es 1-9 and um verse 15 and also Romans 15 25-32. So after Jerusalem Paul intended to go to Rome. So you can see there phase three Rome and ultimately further into Spain. So you can see there pace four Spain uh which we read about in Romans 15 23- 24. So to prepare for this, Paul sent Titus uh sorry to prepare for this Paul sent Timothy and Aras ahead of him to Macedonia uh to organize the collection. Okay, we read about this in verse 22 of Acts 19. We also read in Acts chapter 24 verse 17. Okay, slide 10. Uh while Paul was at Ephesus, we also see uh that he wrote the epistle to the Galatians, he also wrote first Corinthians uh which is addressing many problems in the Corinthian church that he established in the second missionary journey. And this letter was most likely delivered by Titus or by someone who had come from Corinth and given what is update about what is happening in Corinth. Reports of Corinth struggles come from those of Ch's household. So you can see that in your screen 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 11 who visited Paul in Ephesus and updated him about the situation. Okay. Now uh Let's go to slide 12. Now Paul's ministry was deeply impacted uh uh uh you know deeply impacted the city of Ephesus especially because in connection to the worship of Dina. Okay. But a silver smith named Dimitris who made these shrines you know images of Dina the the the temple and Dina he stirred up a riot because Paul's preaching was turning people away from idol worship so he was losing out on his business right so he was making all of these idols can you you can see the idols there in the center and because Paul was preaching preaching against idol worship. Many people were turning away. Uh we read this in Acts 19:23-41. Okay. Uh so he was very very angry. Um go to the next slide. So there was an uproar uh that happened you know and that was settled when the city clerk dismissed the crowd and soon after this uh incident Paul left Ephesus. Okay. So he had to leave because there was a big uproar and Paul had to leave Ephesus. Go to the next slide. So we see that Paul travels from Ephesus through Macedonia and Greece. Can you see Macedonia and Greece? It's on the >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yeah. Yeah. Macedonia and Greece. Okay. Then he traveled through Macedonia giving words of encouragement. Finally, he arrives in Greece where he stayed for three months. So, let's read what happens there. Uh can somebody read Acts chapter 20 2-3, please? Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greece and stayed three months. And when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. Amen. >> Okay. >> You can read verses four and five and six as well. >> Okay, ma'am. and Sopeta of Berea accompanied him to Asia. Also, Aristo aristocus and seconders of Thessalonians and gas of Derby and Timothy and Tyus and Profus Profimus of Asia. These men going ahead waited for us at Troyas. But we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleven bread and in five days joined them at Troyas where we stayed seven days. >> So you look at the map here we see that Paul you know uh traveled through that area. He he finally arrives in Greece uh from Macedonia he comes to Greece and he stayed there three months and we see that the Jews plotted against him you know and so he set sail to Syria. Can you see from Greece to Syria? It's a sea route. So he sails all the way to Syria. Then he decides to go back to you know uh Macedonia and um he was accompanied by Sopeta son of Supeta from Bir Birya Arisakis um secondus Gas and Timothy and Taikus and Trophamus from the province of Asia. And these men went ahead and waited for us at Tro. That means waited for us means Paul and uh Luke. So you can see Tro there. Okay. And um but we sailed from Philippi. So you can see Philippi there after the festival of the unweven bread, Passover. And 5 days later we joined the others at Trrowass where we stayed for seven days. Okay, I'm going to stop here. We'll continue uh from this point. Now I just wanted to talk about assessment two. Assessment one will be on chapters one and two. So when I finish chapters one and two I'll give you assessment one. Assessment two is going to be presentations. Okay? So all of you are going to present and I will tell you what the presentation is. I will give you um all the presentations. Okay. Okay. 64 to pages 76 in your in your textbook course book revivals visitations and moves of god and I will each one of you will come here in front and will present. So all online students will also have to present. All of you will have to put on your videos. You will also get marks for your presentation, your content. Um you can have your PPTs. If you want your PPTs to be presented, you need to send it ahead of time to me and we will have it presented when you are sharing and each of you will get around 6 to 8 minutes to do your presentation. Okay. um and I will give you the details. I will post it in the Google classroom so you can uh read it and start preparing. Okay, your portions and uh I know some of most of you struggle with English. So please spend time reading getting acquainted with the lines with the words with your content so that when you read it's clear because many of them online and e-learning students are from countries where the English is spoken well and we don't want them to feel irritated or agitated but they must all learn from the hard work that you are putting in and through your presentation. So if your English is not very good, please go to someone, get help, learn the pronunciations, be clear and teach well so that we can it'll all benefit everyone and you're going to get marks on I think it's going to be 25 marks for your presentation.
