And uh just want you to know that that we we we come through really hot on this one. And we honor Chris Brown. Now, we didn't want no smoke, you know, far as uh you know, far as this go. I wouldn't have never took the award back cuz you know I'm focusing on giving awards out myself. We had never had this type of situation. But she went up on that stage and gave that boy an award. And not long after that, Venton Jones took to Don Lemon's show. Listening to >> understand how did this happen? >> Did anyone ever question whether honoring Chris Brown was a good or a bad idea or there might be some fallout from it? >> Yeah. First and foremost, well, thank you for having me on this morning. And first off, I want to offer an apology. And I think that this is a very important conversation around domestic violence. And I want to offer my apology um to black women, to women, and to anyone who has experienced domestic violence. and really expressed that it was not my intention um to be able to to stoke um the traumas that that that goes into that as well as the the background of this situation. We were here um at the at the request, you know, of the venue to to come in um and to be able to honor um the importance of this evening that was going on. So, both Chris Brown and Usher, um, we were brought in to help. >> Stop it right there. OG, this here, it changed quickly on Chris Brown. It backfired on Chris Brown. Chris Brown tried to be cool with with these people. Venton Jones. And next thing you know, now he's Venton Jones apologizing for even dealing with Chris Brown. OG, what the heck just happened? >> First of all, let me say this. Uh it's not not it doesn't need to be an apology because this is apples and oranges. Let me read to you what this award of Vent Jones. Last night I honored I had the honor of of joining Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett on stage at the Usher Chris Brown concert. Together, we recognize Chris Brown for his lasting impact on music. Not beating up females, not domestic violence, for his music, presenting him with an official state of Texas legislative recognition alongside an official congressional record entering to the Congresswoman Crockett. This this should this shout out to Rockstar for all the hard work and coordinating in his efforts. So now you give a man a award for his music ability, what his personal life is. Why do we why do our black entertainers always get attacked on personal issues when it's apples and oranges? White America don't do that. I don't know. OG, I agree with you on this one, man. But then because they honored him, he got some backlash some kind of way. And I believe that's what caused him to reig on this situation. He reiged. He he changed his mind after he came out. He gave and presented the award. The picture looked like they were so happy. It seemed like they were so into doing the right thing by Chris Brown. They said some of the most eloquent words to show love to Chris Brown. And then the next thing you know they out here tripping like, "Man, what we just done?" Let me tell y'all something, man. Uh the constituents over congressional recognition given to Chris Brown. Right now in that now you first of all y'all didn't even pay to come into the council. So you got into the council free. So I need a check to pay for, you know, getting interrupted. Now, in that whole concert, would you say it was 5,000 people? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. I have a great idea. How about y'all leave me the f alone and let me focus on the fans that spent their money and to actually see and support me. You got to understand, OG, there's a lot of times uh when when you see a person come into your city and all them fans about to come into that stadium and you get to I mean you a political whatever or you got a way to get in, man, I'm going to go down there and give him a war. We want to show him the love and respect that he deserve. And you not thinking that they going to come back another way on you when you do it. Do not mess this man's whole run. He's trying to do something in his own right. He's got his own thing he's trying to do. Why would you then go to go on Don Lemon's show and and rebut it and get on a platform like that? This platform is huge. And you know already what that does to him. Are you trying to do something to hurt Chris Brown is what I start to ask. Why would you go on a platform and and and shout out to uh Don Lemon. I don't have a a I'm a big fan of Don Lemon. I'm a big fan of his show. I'm a big fan of what these guys represent. And like I said, I'm not with the other side or whatever they got going. That ain't got nothing to do with me. Uh but at the end of the day, I just don't like when we throw mud and schmut at brothers that look like us. We got to stop doing that. Why would y'all get on this platform and throw and darts at this man and throw stuff this man? Man ain't did nothing to y'all. I don't think that's right. You You got a huge platform for you to do that. It just it it's just crazy to me because at the end of the day, man, the man ain't did nothing. Go and do perform. He ain't hurt. He ain't said nothing to you. He ain't done nothing to you. Now, if he asked if he went through something as a youngster and he done got it right, ask God to forgive him, why y'all can't forgive him? Why y'all can't Why y'all don't have no forgiveness for this man? Why would y'all keep coming back at this man like this and and and bringing this back up? The good books say no man grab hold of plow and look back without running into something. So I don't understand how y'all could come up and start coming for this man and this man trying to put food on his table, provide for his family and y'all doing the same thing, but then y'all want to tear him down because of something that happened when he was a young man, young years ago, man.
