Video summary
Mike the Coder returns to YouTube with a significant strategic shift, moving away from his previous goal of solving one thousand LeetCode problems daily to focus specifically on helping viewers gain admission into high-frequency trading firms. He acknowledges that while competitive programming is excellent for securing spots at top colleges or passing general tech interviews at companies like Google and Facebook, the specific demands of high-frequency trading require a deeper mastery of mathematics and modern C++. Consequently, he explains that his channel's new direction will prioritize these specialized skills, as proficiency in probability and combinatorics are critical components of interview questions for these firms.
To support this new objective, Mike outlines a structured plan featuring three distinct playlists designed to build comprehensive expertise. The first playlist will cover modern C++ techniques, focusing on advanced features that optimize memory allocation and overall performance. This will be followed by a series dedicated to high-performance computing in C++, ensuring viewers understand how to write extremely efficient code beyond just algorithmic efficiency. The third major pillar of the channel will be Linux systems programming, aiming to transform viewers into masters of Linux commands and system interfaces, which are essential tools used daily within high-frequency trading environments.
In addition to these curated playlists, Mike intends to incorporate weekly LeetCode contests and a review of coding interview patterns to maintain practical problem-solving skills alongside theoretical knowledge. He also plans to introduce live streams where he will work through competitive programming problems in real-time, a method he believes will help him stay motivated and consistent with his goals. With his current job schedule allowing for more flexibility, he is committed to uploading content daily and providing a full-depth understanding of the technical stack required to succeed in the competitive world of high-frequency trading.

what's up guys Mike the coder here it's
been a while since I was on YouTube I'm
going to be honest I haven't been
uploading anything at all on YouTube I I
know I said I was going to do a thousand
Le code questions but in the end I um I
couldn't I couldn't actually finish I
couldn't do like three problems a day it
it's just not possible but yeah what I'm
going to do now on YouTube is going to
be a little different um I've been
trying to grow on Instagram and on Tik
Tok and Tik Tok I was able to get very
close to 30k followers on Tik Tok so
that was what I was trying to grow on
Tik Tok a lot and I'm currently trying
to grow on Instagram also but for
YouTube I'm going to try to also grow on
YouTube
it's it's it's pretty hard for me to
motivate myself to upload YouTube videos
if I don't have a
series right so um my goal right now is
to help you guys get into high frequency
trading firms so
what that is is that anything revolving
around um basically competitive
programming is really only helpful in
interviews I I know what people say is
that oh competitive like competitive
programming will help you get into like
it could get you into top colleges if
you do a very well in in high school but
really it's really helps you on
interviews and that's like algorithm
contests right algorithms like lead code
or getting into Google or Facebook or
Fang whatever those are right and that's
what the the reason why I started this
channel was because I wanted to get into
Google Facebook Amazon Netflix whatever
yeah that's the main reason right but
now we have a different goal okay I'm
going to try you to help you guys get
into high frequency trading firms and
those
firms generally require a lot of math
and also a lot of of C++ knowledge so
that's another thing that competitive
programming helps you okay it will help
you on these high frequency trading
firms for their interview questions
because a lot of competitive programming
problems are probability which is which
is basically competitive program like
that will help you a lot in in high
frequency trading interviews like if you
know probability very well it will help
you a lot second one is
combinatorics which will also help you a
lot in high frequency trading firms like
if you know both of these probability
and
combinatorics that will help you succeed
in high frequency trading firms okay so
this channel what is going to do is
we're going to try to help you succeed
in high frequency trading firms and the
two things that also benefit a lot in
high frequency trading firms is C++
knowledge modern C++ knowledge so
understanding modern
C++ very well on how to do like a lot of
their you know the performance wise
memory allocation all the other stuff
right so I'm going to try to go over
modern C++ knowledge with you guys high
performance C++ knowledge with you guys
as well as so anything remov making the
most efficient code possible okay so I
know competitive programming does do
that with the most efficient algorithm
but there's other stuff in C++ to make
it extremely efficient so that's what
I'm I'm going to do so my next playlist
is going to be modern
C++ uh techniques explain modern C++ the
next one is going to be um high
performance C++ where I'm going to go
over high performance
C++ and then the third playlist is I'm
going to go over Linux so you we are
going to have a full depth understanding
of Linux systems programming on Linux
because that is what high frequency
trading firms generally go go over just
a lot of Linux commands a lot of Linux
and not just about anything just you
have we will try to be you will be an
Guru master in Linux after the next the
third playlist that I'm going to go over
so yeah hopefully this is going to
motivate me to also go over these um to
do these things I'm also going to live
stream so I know this is really
difficult for me like say I'm going to
have a bunch of goals and I never fall
follow through I will actually follow
through these goals okay so I'm also
going to live stream on um probably I'm
going to live stream same competitive
programming problems because I want to
go over that as well because at the end
of the day competitive programming will
help you get into high frequency trading
firms like if you are very good at
competitive programming it will help you
a lot so that's what I'm going to go
over on the channel as well so we're
going to have three new playlists one is
going to be modern C+ Plus+ techniques
the second one is going to be high
performance Computing and C++ the third
one is going to be
um Linux it's going to be systems
programming Linux basic everything about
the Linux interface we're going to go
over that okay that's third thing and
we're also going to do um Le code
contests every week and um I'm also
going to go over some more coding
interview patterns so I'm going to
finish the coding interview patterns
playlist We we will get that done but
yeah um right now my job isn't super
like super hectic right now so I have a
lot of time to do that so I could
dedicate time to do that so we're going
to do that as well and yeah I hope this
will get to you guys and I hope um yeah
I'll check you guys later I hope you
guys still stick around but yeah that's
the next next chapter in this channel
we're going to upload every day and we
are going to do well and succeed but
yeah hope this helps peace
