Building skills and creating opportunities - India’s youth gets empowered and how!

In recent years, the Government of India has prioritized preparing its youth for future economic challenges through a series of strategic initiatives. By aligning education and skills with the evolving economy, programs such as the National Education Policy, Skill India Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana have been implemented to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry needs. A significant example of this commitment is the PM SETU scheme, which involves an investment of 60,000 crore rupees to modernize 1,000 government Industrial Training Institutes, ensuring that direct participation from the private sector is integrated into the training process to enhance employability. The potential of India's youth is also vividly demonstrated through the country's thriving startup ecosystem, which has grown to become the third-largest in the world. This growth is no longer confined to major metropolitan areas; instead, nearly half of the recognized startups now operate in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, highlighting the pivotal role played by young people from villages, towns, and smaller urban centers. These entrepreneurs are developing their own ideas and building new companies, a process that not only fosters innovation but also creates fresh employment opportunities for other youths within their communities, thereby driving the development of India's new economy from the ground up. To further accelerate job creation in the private sector, the government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana with a substantial budgetary allocation of about 1 lakh crore rupees. This ambitious scheme aims to bring approximately 2 crore youths into the workforce for the very first time by providing financial incentives to both job seekers and employers. Specifically, young individuals securing their first job can receive an incentive of up to 15,000 rupees, while companies that create new positions are also eligible for government support. Through these comprehensive measures, the state is actively working on every front to boost employment rates and ensure that the nation's youth are empowered to build a prosperous future.
