Video summary
Welcome to Norris Cove, where host Yoshita returns after an extended absence to tackle her July budget reset and catch up with viewers on recent life changes. Acknowledging that she has been busy working without documenting her finances recently, Yoshita decides it is time to film a video to get back on track before the month begins in earnest. She opens her planner to reveal pages for May and June that are largely empty of goals or categories, prompting an immediate decision to start fresh with July. Her primary focus shifts to organizing bill payments by date, moving from April's records to ensure she does not lose track of upcoming due dates like Amazon, Acuity, Apple services, and various subscriptions such as Canva and Netflix.
As Yoshita fills out her budget categories, she shares several significant personal updates regarding her financial priorities and lifestyle adjustments. She reveals that she has successfully discontinued Chat GPT for June and skipped a Cloth & Paper subscription to save money while contemplating whether to reinstate her gym membership after struggling with the heat during outdoor walks. A major shift in her debt repayment strategy involves restarting payments on her Parent Plus student loans, which require monthly contributions of around one thousand dollars—a sum she finds challenging but necessary. Additionally, she notes that her high-yield savings account remains stable and serves as a buffer for unexpected expenses or future investments like an IRA once current debts are managed.
Beyond the numbers, Yoshita reflects on broader life decisions affecting her budget, including potential changes to her side business, Norris Cove. She explains that with her children mostly grown and enjoying time at home alongside her husband, she is considering closing or significantly reducing this part-time venture by year's end to focus more on family projects and rest. This decision will likely result in reduced spending on advertising supplies like paper but allows for a better work-life balance as they tackle home renovation projects outside and inside the house. She also mentions upcoming medical needs, such as orthopedic shots for her thumb and blood work scheduled for late July, which she plans to track with stickers and washi tape in her planner.
The video concludes with Yoshita outlining her plan to handle detailed monthly budgeting offline rather than showing every step on camera, allowing her to maintain flexibility while still sharing the final results with viewers. She expresses a strong desire to get back into the habit of planning and interacting with her audience, noting that she misses the routine despite current struggles with focus due to work demands. While she admits to missing some weeks in filling out schedules for appointments and clients, she is committed to resetting her planner for the third quarter and testing new weekly scheduling methods. She ends by encouraging viewers who enjoyed the update to subscribe and turn on notifications so they can follow along as she continues her journey toward financial stability and a more balanced life.

Everyone, welcome to, or welcome back to
Norris Cove. If you're new here, I'm
Yoshita and here at the Cove, we like to
budget and plan in confidence using a
planner. Today, you guys, I know, it's
been a while and
it I just got off from work and I was
like, I get July is the reset month and
I just need to get my budget together
because like I was like preparing for
the 1st of the month and I'm like, okay,
tomorrow's the 1st. First, what bills do
I have to pay? So, I had to kind of look
in my planner and I was like, you know
what? Let's just film. Let's Let's just
film because
we need to catch up and there's a few
things I said I was going to do
different in my budget and I wanted to
take you along with it, but um I can't
even remember now cuz it's been so long,
but anyhoo, we did This is May.
I don't even
Look, this is This is all I had. June
got nothing. No goals, no nothing. I
cannot believe that we're really halfway
through
um the year, but anyway, I'm going to
get started. This is July.
Let's take these pages out and it's
going to be a minimal decorating here. I
just need to get the bills down. So, I'm
going to switch back to May to
um actually, I may go back to April to
see
what bills are due.
So, that way I don't lose track. I think
I had everything down, but I feel like
this is
a little naked, so I'mma go to April.
And this month, I am pledging to get
back to my budget categories. I have not
been writing down what I'm spending, but
all that change
next tomorrow tomorrow. Okay, so, the
1st Now, I have Amazon to come out on
the
second, but it's been coming out on the
first, so I'm just going to put it here.
And then
the third, we have Acuity.
Let me move this some.
And then we have Apple. And there is a
lot of stuff going on like with my
budget, my bank account. It's time to
start back paying back these Parent Plus
loans. Like
I did get rid of Chat GPT
for the month of June. I did not re-sign
up for Cloth & Paper. I skipped that
month and you know, it just depends. I'm
[snorts]
just skipping right now because I'm in
the fence of whether I should get my gym
membership back, but right now I'm just
walking.
The high-yield savings account is kind
of like at a standstill, but it's still
there. The money is still there. If I
happen to take from it, I just pay
myself back.
I have Canva down for the 7th.
And then 8th, Apple Music.
Oh, oh, and well, I think we've already
discussed this, but I've already caught
up my
car note. Yeah, I think that's the last
thing I talked to y'all about. And then
let's see, the 13th, we have
Navy Federal Credit Union.
And I want to do some cute stickers, but
I have to write everything down first.
Um
let's see.
I have Shopify.
And
I'm just going to skip down here and do
Netflix.
GoDaddy.
Epidemic on the 21st.
But I am highly considering
my um
gym membership again because for one,
it's it's about to be 100° and the
walking outside in the heat, I almost
passed out
last week. Y'all, I really want to tell
y'all that story. So, yeah, I think we
just going to take it on the inside.
Um State Farm is like normally the last
thing
that I pay. I've been paying my cell
phone bill on time. I'm going to put CNP
down here for the 31st cuz I may
change my mind, but I can always cross
it out. Okay.
Now, let's do just a little decorating.
Um I flipped to this page because here
in my sticker book because I have some
to buy, to pay, some due, some stuff
like that, but I I want to put a little,
you know, Oh, on the 25th, I may be
I'm going to put this down as
I'm going to block this off
because I may be going out of town. I
got to just kind of get my client
situation
together. I'm not certain, but I'm just
going to block
these days off.
But I miss planning. I miss like
interacting with you guys. It's just a
lot and I've said this before, but I
cannot walk and chew gum at the same
time and it's it's a struggle. I have to
focus, you know, I just really have to
focus. So, I'm going to put another one
here.
And this is my favorite color, which is
ice milk, and I don't know if this is
the old ice milk or the new.
Okay, so we have that.
Probably take off that Friday, Saturday,
come back on this Sunday.
Um
let's use these.
And bill due, I'll just use these bill
due stickers.
I don't know where my um tweezers are,
but
whatever.
Bill due.
Amazon.
But I really, really, really miss
planning. Like I'm about to kind of
get her together cuz she's just been
going, okay? She's just been on the
She's just been on the go, but she needs
to um
get cleaned out so that she can be of
use again. So, yeah.
Bill due.
Okay, so since we're out of bill due, we
can do due.
We can do the due stickers. I probably
got some more of these. These are some
of my favorites.
Go daddy is due.
I wanted to come out with some new
colors, but
ever since I had to get a new printer,
my biggest fear is that they won't match
again. So,
I'm a little nervous about that, but you
know,
it can happen.
I'm not going to put a do sticker here
CMP because like I said I may
change my mind. I'm going to put this
out toothpaste sticker next to Allen.
And now I need to find something kind of
I think I'm going to do probably florals
like what you always do. But this is all
of the stickers. So let's put this up.
Um I don't have I need to get blood work
done on the 28th. I do note that. So let
me put that down.
And I I think I saw a appointment
sticker here.
I don't necessarily have an appointment
but I'm going to just use these
for that.
And these are by Sweet Kawaii.
Oh, I have that um
those from Planner Aesthetic. Maybe I'll
use those.
So on the 28th
I'm just going to write in blood work.
I'm just going to put a seven.
Okay.
And it matches kind of my ice milk
color.
So I have these here from
Planner Aesthetic. Do I need to use
those?
I'm going to come back to that. Let me
see. I think I'm being drastic and
making
some drastic decisions here. Let me see.
Okay, this is all I have for right now.
I think I am going to use a little bit
of um
washy tape. I have this one. Let me see
what other one. Yeah, this will go good
with that. So,
let's do a little washy tape.
I already have a lot here. Let's put it
here.
And then I think I'm going to look for
the stickers from Plan A Aesthetic. I
really need to use
up my stuff cuz this
I have a lot of them going in here.
So, I'm going to use these. I think I'm
going to use this one here.
I'm
going to use that.
I'll put it there so for when I go to
town. And
that's going to be it for July.
Um I'm trying to think. I think I need
an oil change this month. So, I'm going
to put that down. It may be August.
I'll put blood work.
These are just some little reminders
that I may need, you know,
to remember
as far as financial-wise, but I think
this is going to do it. Um I don't need
to go out of town besides here.
Uh trying to think, I don't have any
other doctor's appointments, but I need
to make some doctor's appointments. Um
that's it. This This is it. This This
This is it.
All right, let's pop her back in.
I will come back. I'll fill out this
myself. Uh I'll do that off camera.
Sometimes I'll come in and do the
monthly um just fill that in. I'm going
to do that, but I'll do that off camera.
I just needed to
get a regular calendar up, if that makes
sense. Like I just needed to see my
bills, see what's going on. I don't have
any new bills, praise the Lord. I don't
have any new bills. I'm going to leave
this behind here because
I haven't done my categories, but we'll
go ahead and fill this in
while I'm thinking about it.
All right, and
I'm going to go ahead and do this.
So, I can get my stuff back together.
This is finally the time. And let me
tell y'all what's kind of
going on. So,
I've been busy, of course, work as
always, but it's been super busy lately
because people aren't um supporting the
Asians, so now everybody wants to kind
of
overwhelm me, but it's okay. I And know,
I can definitely use the money.
So, we got bills,
miscellaneous,
food and grocery. Y'all Y'all would be
so proud of me. Like, I haven't spent
money on like fast food in I don't know
when.
Over
I started this journey about maybe the
end of
May.
And I have eaten out, but I haven't not
I haven't necessarily paid, if that
makes sense. I haven't paid. Like, my
husband, he'll take me and he'll treat
me. So, that's what
That's what I've been doing.
We got salon.
We got that.
>> [snorts]
>> Oh,
I just thought about something I need to
add. I need to call the orthopedic cuz I
got to get another shot in my thumb.
I've tried to hold out, but it's not
working. Um I got one more
resort, which is to um
this tea my client recommended to me,
but
I don't know.
This is expense.
All right, we should have Let's see.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
We're missing one. Oh, family.
Okay.
We have bills. [snorts]
So, I'm holding myself accountable
um
that I will start back tracking what I'm
spending because I am kind of curious on
what how much I'm spending on grocery.
Like I said, it's not necessarily eating
out. I really haven't eaten out, so
um I really want to know. I really want
to know. Um Norris Cole has been down. I
am highly contemplating closing Norris
Cole by the end of the year. So, I'm not
doing a whole lot there. So, that's
going to kind of save some money because
I'm buying things that I don't need to
buy, if that makes sense. Like I just
don't need to buy paper as often, stuff
like that, because I'm not doing any
advertising. Um
I'm Let me explain something. Like I
enjoy
making things, but I have to remove
stuff off my plate. And honestly,
um Norris Cole is just the very last
thing. Like
I don't do it full-time. It's very much
so part-time, but um
it's just one of those things that would
be the first to come off my plate.
And I'm okay with it because
like now, you know, my kids are pretty
much grown. We're not quite empty
nesters, but I enjoy spending time with
my husband. We're getting projects done
around the house. We've done That's
another thing we've done so many
projects around the house, mainly
outside, some inside. Now we're kind of
working our way on the inside. And so
like now, I rush to get home plus just
like spend time in the yard. Um just
sitting enjoying what the fruits of my
labor are, the things that we've done,
you know? So, um
and I I'm not as young as I used to be,
okay? So, I definitely
want to um
What is this wrong?
What is it?
Yeah.
I definitely want to kind of like just
enjoy my home, you know, do my job, and
come home, you know? So, but I do get
orders. I just don't, you know, show
them like I used to. It's just not
Can somebody help me? Like, what
happened to my page?
Um first of all,
y'all saw me out here struggling. I had
to
Y'all saw me struggling.
Okay, so at least this is done. And like
I said, anything else, the um
monthly breakdown, I'll do that myself.
And matter of fact,
I kind of know what we're starting the
month off with.
Let me go ahead over here.
I won't take y'all along for this much.
So, my monthly budget,
this is what I'm going to do offline.
We'll go over it. I may just do a
separate I really don't need to do a
separate one because we just kind of did
it all right there. So,
I'm going to do this offline.
Um
rollover,
um I think we're about
425.
Okay, that's what we have. All right, we
we may have a little bit more, but
that's where we're going to start here.
And then I'll just come in and
I'll do the estimate with y'all. I know
y'all like, "Okay, you keep saying
you're going
Nails,
and I'm going to put
no code.
Okay, so for hair estimate for the
month,
I'm going to put 5,000.
For nails, I'm going to put
1,500. It may be more. Let me look back.
I never finished that. I
I don't think I have.
Yeah, hair and nails came in at 6,000.
So, yeah, that's about right. No, that
was my drill.
Let's see. 2,200.
Yeah, so 1,500 is about right.
No co I'm budgeting 100 for the month.
Okay, that is that. That is my monthly
budget. Like I said, I'll come in. I'm
trying to think um
like kind of what can I catch you all up
on financial wise?
I do want to get
my IRA going, but first I have a couple
of bills that I want to kind of pay off
first. Also, I don't think I talked
about this, but I'll just go over it
real briefly. So, my goal of action to
get back to paying down debt is to first
get caught up. That was my one thing I
wanted to do was kind of get up get
caught up on like my car note. She's
caught up. Um pay my car insurance on
time. I'm doing that. This is like my
second consecutive month even though I
have not been showing you guys my
budget. I've been tackling, you know, a
lot of things offline and I just haven't
come here to share it. So, I've been
doing that consecutively like two two
and a maybe three months. So, those are
the main things and so now we have
student loans entering the chat and I
don't know. I I just don't know. I may
need another job, okay?
They want me to pay a thousand dollars a
month, baby. I can't do it. The lady was
like, "Well, what about 500?" And I'm
like, "No." So, I got a couple of things
that I'm kind of working on. It is not
like a business or anything like that,
but uh some ways that I can make some
money to like at least pay the student
loans down. But, we'll we'll get all
into that, y'all. I am definitely back
budget wise. Um planner wise, I don't
know because I'm not really doing
any planning, but I do know I want to
get her together. Like look at her.
She's just been going from bag to bag.
Um [snorts] so, I want to kind of get
her together so I can start using her.
Now, I have y'all seen I've been using
the meal planner the new meal planner,
so I did do this week, which was the
22nd through the 28th.
Um so, we we got to do a video on this.
And then also, it's time to like fill in
my schedule.
This was this week, y'all. I just You
see what I'm talking about? And then I'm
still adding people. So, I have not put
any deco in here, so y'all are not
missing much, okay? At all. You're not
missing anything. Matter of fact,
Um
this is last week.
I didn't even do this week. But, this
has been the past couple of weeks, so
you know, just in case y'all are up,
this is what's been going on. I think
we might have done We might have done
this together. I don't know. But, yeah,
so but going forward, I think what I'm
going to do, I kind of want to test out
a new weekly. I love my time uh
scheduling, and it's really made me for
appointments and um my clients. But, I
think going forward, I'm just going to
do this part, and I will fill the
schedule offline because it does change,
so that way I don't have to do a whole
bunch of decorating here, and I can
maybe just schedule like
admin, doc's appointments, things like
that. But, as far as my salon schedule,
I think I'm going to just start doing
that offline, but everything else I'll
probably go over with you guys. But,
that is an update on
what I've been up to,
um our budget, and like I said, I even
got to
put it in here, but I always do my
monthly offline here. So, look, we're in
we It's time to catch up. It's time to
add August in here. I just have July.
So, I definitely got to get third
quarter in here, but
finally, that that's all that I have
going on. I miss you guys. Um like I
said, I'll be back, and we'll discuss
planner cuz we got to reset this planner
up for quarter three. And that's it. So,
I will see you guys in my next video.
Thank you for stopping by. If today's
your first time here and you enjoyed
