Video summary
Brooklyn Gives 2026 introduces a year-round philanthropy platform hosted by Brooklyn OR in partnership with Mighty Cause, designed to help local nonprofits raise funds beyond the traditional Giving Tuesday event. Since launching in 2016, this initiative has facilitated over $6 million in donations while providing free tools, training, and technical support to organizations based in New York City that are registered as 501(c)(3) entities with the state's Charities Bureau. The platform aims to streamline operations by leveraging existing donor relationships rather than reinventing them, offering features such as peer-to-peer fundraising capabilities, access to door prizes up to $500 for qualifying efforts, and enhanced visibility through campaigns like "Brooklyn Gives Where You Live." Registration is currently open from mid-June until early November, leading into an Early Giving period in mid-November before the main event begins on December 1st.
To participate, organizations must complete a registration process that involves creating accounts or resetting passwords for existing admins and submitting forms to trigger an approval workflow contingent upon finishing specific profile requirements. This "to-do list" includes uploading logos and banners, writing descriptive content about various sections of their page, setting up Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for disbursements, and configuring thank-you pages. Once approved via email notification, administrators gain full dashboard access to customize organization pages with custom tabs and media galleries, configure donation forms, set fundraising goals, and manage admin permissions. The session also covers practical demonstrations of these features, including how to navigate the overview dashboard, edit page settings like URLs and legal information, and handle requests for additional administrative support or fiscal sponsorship migrations.
The webinar further explores advanced functionalities within the Mighty Cause platform through live demos using a demo site, highlighting tools such as Contacts for managing donor databases and communication logs, Campaigns for overseeing peer-to-peer fundraisers with admin-controlled approval workflows, and Embeddable Forms that allow organizations to integrate donation buttons directly onto their existing websites. Additional resources include capabilities for setting up matching grants, customizing automated emails sent when supporters launch campaigns, utilizing Text-to-Give options for mobile donations at in-person events, and creating lists for volunteer opportunities. The presenters emphasize that all these tools are immediately available during the setup phase without permanent restrictions, encouraging organizations to explore them right away while noting that bilingual site support is also confirmed as a feature.
Looking ahead, Brooklyn OR has scheduled several upcoming resources to assist nonprofits throughout the year, including a training webinar on September 15th focused on fundraising strategies and a grant application clinic on September 10th for those interested in foundation grants. For ongoing assistance, organizations can visit the Support Hub at support.mightycaus.com to explore topics like matching grants or preview upcoming webinars before they launch. The recording of this introductory session will be distributed via email and posted online for future reference, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to information regarding data transfers from previous platforms like GiveGab and clarification on donation fee structures found in the FAQs. By combining these resources with a unified platform approach, Brooklyn Gives continues its mission to empower local charities to reach new donors and improve their storytelling throughout the entire year.

Thank you so much for your patience. We
made it to 3:05 and we're going to go
ahead and get started. Um, I am Sabrina
Hardgrave, vice president of programs at
Brooklyn or as you can maybe hear. I am
a little bit under the weather, so I'm
going to be staying off camera today.
Um, but I am being joined by Claire
Perco, if I say it correctly,
our project manager at Mighty Cause that
oversees the platform. Thank you for
joining us for this first webinar on
Brooklyn Gives 2026.
Um we're going to go ahead and get
started with a little bit of background
information about what Brooklyn Gives is
about, who Brooklyn is, and then we're
going to dive a little bit more into the
platform and see how it might work for
your organization.
Um I may have met some of you on today's
call, but if I have not, welcome. It's
so great to have you here and thank you
for your interest in Brooklyn Gives and
in Brooklyn or uh Brooklyn or is the
plat is the host for the platform this
annual platform that is now going year
round. If you wonder what I look like if
I have not met you I am the person
standing behind the most beautiful boy
in that picture with the the peace sign
that is my son Marquez.
Um [clears throat]
and overall what do I do? I work at
Brooklyn or So, Brooklyn or is a partner
and platform for local philanthropy.
What that means is that we work with
individuals, corporations,
foundations,
and all people interested in supporting
the nonprofit sector here in Brooklyn.
And we work with nonprofits like
yourselves um by dispersing both capital
in the form of grants but also
supporting um your growth and your
journey as nonprofits through our
capacity building work um of which
Brooklyn Gives is one example. Um not
only do we work with institutions but we
also work with individuals to help
support their own philanthropy through
their donor advised funds. Uh, so you
may have heard of our deaf program and
we'll talk a little bit more about how
all of these opportunities intersect for
Brooklyn Gibbs. Um, Claire, I hope I'm
being loud enough. If not, let me know.
I'm doing my I'm shouting from the
diaphragm, so I hope everyone can hear.
Okay, wonderful.
>> Um, so you may have participated in
Brooklyn Gives before. We are brand new
to the mighty cause platform which is
bringing a lot of exciting opportunities
for both the ways that you might use it
for your fundraising and also the just
fabulous level of support that mighty
cause offers. But what is Brooklyn
gives? So it is a free fundraising
platform that we provide at Brooklyn or
to nonprofits. Uh when we started it
many years ago I believe in 2016 there
weren't that many platforms. I know now
that there is a whole variety, but it is
one kind of unified way for people that
want to support Brooklyn to give to
Brooklyn nonprofits. Um, since our
inception, nonprofits have raised over
$6 million on the platform and we
believe that there is the opportunity
for so much more money to be, you know,
flow through the the platform itself,
but into nonprofits by supporting the
awareness of your work. Um, and we hope
to do that by amplifying the platform
via our communications, our media
outreach, we do advertisements. Um, but
also through the work that each of you
will be doing to amplify and how that
brings just awareness to the platform
overall. Um throughout the next few
months, including today, you will have
access to training and resources to help
guide you on different opportunities on
the platform and how you can prepare
yourself for not only Giving Tuesday but
year round uh fundraising. Um next
slide, please.
And so why join Brooklyn Gives I think
is always a fundamental question. Um,
some of your institutions might have
their own fundraising page either on
directly on your website, uh, maybe on
other platforms and so it might feel
redundant or you might asking like why
Brooklyn Gives? Um, and we think that
your organization Brooklyn Gives would
would benefit for benefit you all for a
few different reasons. One, to reach new
donors browsing the site overall. Like I
said, a lot of uh traffic will be um
geared towards and and pulled towards
the platform via our communications, our
networks um and your colleagues on the
platform themselves. Um on Giving
Tuesday, we help incentivize giving and
and some of the work that you'll be
doing via 10 door prizes, which I will
be sharing more about over the next few
weeks as we are finalizing that. So,
organizations may win up to $500 for
their fundraising efforts on the
platform this giving season.
Um, as I mentioned, visibility through
our Burwide Give Where You Live
campaign. We're already talking to our
community of donors, staff holders, and
interesting and interested folks to
really help galvanize Brooklyn Knits to
give here locally to the nonprofits that
are in their backyard. uh not just to
the institutions they may be familiar
with across the bridge. Um I'm going to
say my favorite word a few times, free
training, free fundraising tools and
campaign materials and free technical
support. Uh free is not a word you hear
often, particularly as a nonprofit doing
really incredible and hard work. Um, so
we want to support your work through
this capacity building um, offer and
also we want to not only help support
your journey as nonprofits and
fundraisers, but really mobilize your
board members and your own supporters
through the peer-to-peer fundraising
feature, which is usually the most
successful part of Giving Tuesday
campaigns. Um, and lastly, work
alongside you through tips, resources,
and just that peer network to improve
storytelling on your fundraising page
and maybe give you some new ideas of how
you can bring supporters to your work.
Um, next slide.
And this is where I hand it over to
Claire. You'll hear a little bit from me
at the end, but for now, I'm going to
grab water and rest my voice like Mariah
Carey. Thank you, Claire.
>> Thank you so much, Sabrina. And I just
want to reiterate um what has already
been shared about Brooklyn or Brooklyn
Gibbs. We're so excited to have you all
here joining our first webinar. Um my
name is Claire PCO and I'm the project
manager who is supporting the transition
of this wonderful giving event onto our
platform. We have a lot to talk about
today and we are going to start by
diving into just some very standard
giving day basics. Um, then we will
discuss how are you as a nonprofit going
to be registering for Brooklyn Gives?
How do you get onto our platform? How do
you update your organizations's page?
How do you make sure your org is ready
to raise funds and reach out to donors
for Giving Tuesday this year. I'm going
to go through quite a few slides with
you all, but then I will also do a
platform demo and walkthrough in real
time. um because for some of us hearing
information is wonderful but seeing it
in action is really uh what helps us to
learn most. So hopefully today you feel
um informed on how to get your
organization set up on the platform. I
will be offering another [clears throat]
webinar for you all a little bit later
on where we will dive into the
fundraising tools that are going to help
you have a successful campaign this
year. Um but today is all about just
getting acclimated to the platform. um
experiencing our user interface. Um if
you have any questions along the way, I
encourage you to drop them into our Q&A
feature in this webinar. Sometimes
questions might get lost in the chat and
I see you are all very engaged in the
chat already sharing who you are and
where you are from. So again, if any
questions arise, drop them in the Q&A
and I'll answer them at the end. Also,
please note that this webinar is being
recorded. So, I will provide this
recording over to the Brooklyn Gives
team after a call today and they will
share that out to you all um and we'll
get it up on the site for your
reference. But without further ado,
let's get started.
A lot of this has already been shared at
the top of our call today. So, Brooklyn
Gives is powered by Brooklyn or um and
it's Brooklyn's first and only burrowide
endofear giving campaign. So, we are
excited to help you all mobilize your
supporters and donors this year. It
sounds like you have done incredible
work since 2016, and we are here to help
you continue doing that incredible work
this Giving Tuesday and beyond.
Here are some important dates for you to
mark in your calendars if you have not
already done so. Registering for
Brooklyn Gives is already open. It's
been open since June 15th. And you will
have the opportunity to register and
create a presence on the platform
through November 7th. Um between June
15th and November 7th, that's when I'll
be offering our second webinar, which is
all about those fundraising tools.
That's going to be on September 5th. So
just a little um less than a month from
today. So mark your calendars. You will
be receiving a registration link for
that webinar as well if you have not
already done so. Early uh early giving
will launch November 16th and will run
nove through November 30th beginning uh
from midnight all the way through
midnight and then we are obviously so
excited for Brooklyn Gives to go live on
December first 1st at 12 a.m.
All right, how does it work? How do you
know if you're eligible? Well, it's
pretty straightforward. Are you a 501c3
nonprofit organization headquartered and
or providing services in Brooklyn, New
York? If so, you can participate and you
must also be registered with the New
York Charities Bureau.
September 5th is a Saturday. Thank you
for calling attention to that. We will
take a look at the date I put on the
slide and I will confirm that before we
wrap up today because I'm not sure about
you all, but we maybe are not working on
the Saturday hopefully too much. All
right, Brooklyn Gibbs, let's jump into
the first part of um our conversations
today regarding registration. I know
many of you um were familiar with your
former platform and transitioning to
something new can often feel, you know,
scary or jarring. Um but I hope that
today I can make it super
straightforward for you all in terms of
how to get yourselves registered and set
up. Registration on the Mighty Cause
platform really operates in two parts.
Part one is completing a registration
form and then part two is really
completing your organization page so
that you can go live and solicit
donations from your community of
supporters.
So first you need to log on to the
Brooklyn Gives um site on the mighty
cause platform. So, you first need to
ask yourself, are you a returning admin
for your organization or are you a new
admin for your organization?
[clears throat]
If you have participated in Brooklyn
Gives before and you've managed your
organization's page in the past, you're
a returning admin and your login process
is going to be as follows. You are going
to type your email that you've used
previously into the email line since we
already have an account for you migrated
into the platform. but you will need to
select forgot password. Essentially,
you're resetting your credentials for
the Mighty Cause platform. Um, but once
you're signed in this way, you'll have
access to all of your former um
organization's data. If you're newly
participating as an organization or
perhaps you're a new team member for
your organization, you are simply going
to enter your email on the email line,
type in your password, click login, and
you are ready to rock enroll. So, your
process is also super straightforward.
There's no um verification email that
you'll have to complete or approve
either. So um again, if you're
returning, email, forgot password, reset
your password. And if you're new, you
can just go straight forward with the
email and the password.
Once you are logged into the Brooklyn
Gibbs platform, it should redirect you
right to their landing page to get you
squared away with registration, but if
not, you'll visit bkgs.brooklyn.org
and select sign up.
Once you are on the Brooklyn Gives site
here on the Mighty Cause platform, you
are going to select sign up and it's
going to launch you right into the
registration module. To get started,
you're going to need to know what your
EIN number is or your organization's
name and you're going to search that
directly on the registration form. I
would always recommend searching by EIN
just since it's a little bit more
specific in identifying your
organization. There may be other orgs on
the platform who have similar um names
to yours. So that EIN is a little bit
more of an identifier. If you don't see
your organization or your um you're new,
you're going to select create it now at
the bottom of that uh registration form
and our customer support team will go
ahead and verify your organization page
and make sure you're squared away to get
registered.
Once you submit the registration form,
you are going to receive a confirmation
email. The email is going to simply
confirm that your registration has been
received. Submitting your registration
does not grant automatic approval. That
does have to be done by the Brooklyn
Gives team. And part of that approval
process is you all as the org admins
completing what's called our to-do list.
The to-do list is a checklist of items
we recommend that you complete on your
organization's page to ensure you are
telling a compelling story before your
page is published and available to
donors to see. Um, the to-do list for
Brooklyn Gives this year um is going to
include completing your organization's
page, which is a logo, a banner, an
about section, completing your EFT setup
so that you can be receiving your
dispersements, and then we always
recommend that you complete your thank
you page as soon as you get yourself set
up on the platform. Um, the thank you
page we'll talk a little bit later about
in this demo, but it's really your first
opportunity as the org admin to thank
your donor once a gift is given. And so,
we want that to be something you
complete right away.
As a reminder, the to-do list items
ensure your organization and org page
are ready to go live and accept
donations. Once you begin completing
your to-do list items, the Brooklyn OR
team will have an opportunity to review
your registration form, review your org
page, and then ensure that you are
approved. Once you complete all of the
required items on your to-do list, that
auto approval is going to kick in and
you'll be pushed through to the site.
Once you are approved, you will receive
an email notification that does confirm
your approval and it may provide some
next steps, action items, um other
details that the host from Brooklyn
gives has um included in that
confirmation email.
Um this image here is going to give you
a heads up as to how to access your
to-do list. So once you're logged into
the platform and on your org page,
you're going to see that sticky note
icon on the top left next to your
dashboard. Once you click that to-do
list icon, it's going to expand the
sticky note for you, and you'll see what
still needs to be completed. And the red
dot at the top is really your indicator
of you've still got something you need
to complete before being approved.
You'll also notice this open detailed
to-do list option here. Once you click
um the detailed to-do list option, it's
actually going to expand the entire
to-do list into those individual
elements.
Um, so again, completing your
organization's page includes the logo,
banner, and about section, EFT setup,
and thank you page. As you're navigating
the platform and getting yourselves
acclimated to really the user interface
here, if you click on any particular
element of that to-do list, the platform
is automatically going to route you
directly to where that update needs to
happen. So, if you select EFT setup and
you click it, it's going to bring you to
your dispersement settings to either
upload a check um or link your um bank
account for those dispersements.
Again, we will review this in our
platform walkthrough.
So, that really covers the basics of
registration. Once you're registered,
you're going to have full access to your
organization's dashboard, and there's
going to be a lot for you to learn about
how to navigate your um your dashboard.
The dashboard is essentially your menu
of items that will allow you to manage
your organizations's page both through
this year's giving event and through
your year- round um fundraising
campaigns. Once you're logged in, that
dashboard is going to populate on the
left hand side for you. And today we're
going to be talking about the overview
page where you'll see your registration
status, any announcements, your to-do
list, some highle metrics of your giving
day. You'll be able to we'll also review
your org page, how to customize your
website for your organization,
contacts and fundraising tools.
We will talk about all of that as well
as your reporting in our second webinar.
So, these are really the items that are
going to help you leverage your current
um community of supporters. Today, we'll
talk a little bit about your checkout
options here, which is going to include
your thank you page we discussed, as
well as your donation form, and we'll
also talk about some settings as well.
Here's just an overall view of your
overview page. You'll notice a couple of
different banners here. These are going
to give you insight as to your status as
an organization, both on the platform
and for Brooklyn Gives. So, right now,
um, this organization is not able to
accept donations because their to-do
list is not completed. And I can see
that by that red dot at the top. Um, I
can also see through this yellow banner
here that that to-do list is not
completed. And I can see that
registration is now open. Some of you
that have already registered, this
banner here is probably green and it
says your registration is approved. If
you're approved for reg or approved for
participation, you're also eligible to
receive gifts right now. the platform
has been open for donations um since
they transitioned onto our platform. So,
we encourage you to register right away.
Um get that to-do list completed and
then you can start sharing your org page
for just you know some general
fundraising leading up to Giving
Tuesday.
There also some of these highle metric
tiles that you'll be able to toggle
through as well.
And here is that dashboard on the lefth
hand side.
All right, let's talk about your
organization page. You're going to spend
quite a bit of time getting your org
page set up for um
for your donors. So, you're going to be
able to customize your org page. You'll
need to toggle edit mode on. Once edit
mode is toggled on, these gray icons are
available to you, and that indicates
where you can customize different
features of your org page. Um, this is
what you're going to be sharing to your
supporters. Uh, you can customize the
look and feel for your organization. You
can tell a powerful story about why
donors should give to your organization.
Um, this is really where you are going
to do the bulk of your work in terms of
spreading your mission and your cause to
the community.
You can edit your logo, your banner, and
your theme color. So banner you can
upload here through this icon. Logo
here. This paint palette is where you
can identify some particular colors
you'd like to have branded on your page
as well.
This pencil icon allows you to change
your display name. It doesn't impact
anything in terms of your legal name
that we have in the IRS business master
file, but if there is maybe an acronym
that your um community also knows you
by, you can include that here.
The about section is a required piece of
your to-do list. So, spend some time
telling a powerful story about who you
are, what you do, and what makes your
cause so wonderful in um in the Brooklyn
community. all standard text editing um
features here. You can include videos
and pictures. You can include
hyperlinks, bullet points. Um another
interesting feature you might want to
explore in the about section is this
additional custom tab. Perhaps you want
to include testimonials or you want to
include a list of your staff or any new
projects or initiatives you are
highlighting for this year's um Giving
Tuesday. So, you could add that custom
tab here and include additional
information.
Underneath your about section is a space
for you to include a media gallery.
Again, images tell a powerful story
about who you are, what you do, and how
you support the community around you.
Um, we also encourage you to optimize
your social share settings here as well.
Um, we also have an option for you to
customize your page metrics in giving
activity or set goals for your donors to
see. Um, you can include a progress bar.
So once early giving begins, that
progress bar will grow as your gifts are
received and then donors can see how
close you maybe are to reaching a
particular goal. Goals can be updated
and edited at any time. Actually, your
organization's page is really never
locked down. So, you can continue to
update and um modify your org page
really at any time. Although, we would
recommend, you know, once early giving
starts at your you've got your page in
its uh st in its um final form, I guess
you could say. Um play around with these
different editing tools on your metrics
here. What do you want to be um
displayed? Dollars raised, number of
donors. Um, you have the option to
include those offline gifts as well. Um,
from my perspective though, we are going
to set your metrics to begin calculating
once early giving launches on November
16th.
Uh, you will also have the option to
enable giving activity on your page. So,
if you would like to have a running list
of donors who are giving to your cause
and the dollar amounts they are giving,
that can be visible, that can be turned
on or turned off. Um, please note
however, donors will have the option to
donate anonymously whether hiding their
name or that dollar amount. So, the
giving activity will respect um any
privacy options that donor selects.
All right, some settings you'll need to
be aware of.
On that left hand side of your
dashboard, we've already talked about
overview. We've talked about your org
page. Many of these items we'll revisit,
but your settings here are going to be
important for you all to get yourself
squared away. Um, so under general
settings here, you can update the URL
that your org page um is associated
with. Um, you can include any additional
keywords a donor might search on the
search page that will bring them to your
organization.
Um, or info here. This is really where
you're going to be updating some of that
legal information should you ever need
to do so. And then dispersement
settings. This is where you're going to
manage how you receive your um your
donations following the giving event.
And then admins down here. Um you'll see
your name listed once you're logged in.
Um you'll be able to add additional
admins to access your org page. And
you'll also be able to approve any admin
that requests access to your
organization's page.
All right, I'm going to shift gears for
a little bit. I'm going to stop sharing
my screen and then I'm going to go right
into our uh platform demo. I know I
talked through things quite quickly. Um,
but again, I do feel like it's most
helpful when you can actually see things
in action.
So, let me go ahead and share my screen.
All right.
This is the brook bkgs.brooklyn.org
page. This is what we've been working
with their team on to have available to
you all um as your primary resource
center for not only Giving Tuesday but
again that year round fundraising
once you are here um you know they've
taken a lot of time to provide some
information about Brooklyn Gives why you
might want to participate and it has a
selection option here for your donors to
begin donating. Again, you're not
eligible to receive gifts yet until
you're registered and your to-do list is
complete. Um, FAQ's here,
but really, let's talk about how to log
in today. So, top right hand corner is
log in.
If you are a returning admin,
you'll type in your email address here.
And if the system recognizes your admin
email address as already being
associated with an organization page,
that forgot password option becomes
available to you. Please select this and
reset your password. However, if you are
new to your org, you can just go ahead
and select create password because our
system won't yet see that you are in our
system.
Once you are logged in, it is going to
bring you back to that homepage and give
you the option to sign up.
Once you select sign up, you are then
routed to the registration form page.
You will see the registration module,
some eligibility um questions, and then
again a link to the uh nonprofit FAQ.
enter in your organization name or your
EIN.
Our system does a monthly audit of the
IRS business master file. So, we're
constantly updating verification of
organization EIN's, bringing in new
organizations. Um, anything that are any
organizations that are no longer um
established are also then removed from
this uh picker that drops down. So, you
should be able to select your
organization from here.
And then you can uh click select to move
forward with the registration form. And
if you don't see your org name, you'll
select create it. Now
once you're in, our platform already has
your EIN number here. And then you can
move forward with answering the
questions that the Brooklyn Gives team
has set up for you all. Many of these
questions here are going to help your
organization page be associated with
certain cause areas. So, um, you'll see
that as you go through. If you're not
quite ready to finish your form, you can
click save and finish later. The
Brooklyn Gives team will know that
you've started, but you haven't quite
crossed that finish line yet. Or if
you're ready to submit, you can go ahead
and click submit. Again, once you submit
your form, you receive confirmation that
it's been received, and then it's your
responsibility to then go complete your
to-do list. So, let's talk about your
to-do list.
I'm going to go ahead and switch over to
uh one of our demo organizations. So,
the data and the information you see is
is really just fictitious for the
purpose of our trainings. Um, but if you
wanted to get to your organization page
from the generalbks.brooklyn.org
page, you would click on your um your
drop down here and then you would see
kind of like your managed causes, your
donation history, etc. So feel free to
also explore your user menu here.
But for the purposes of our training
today, this is Blackpat Society. This is
our demo or page.
Um I'm first going to toggle over to the
overview page. A couple of things you'll
notice here. An announcement has been
pushed out by the host. Um you all I
believe recently had an announcement
inviting you to join um the webinar
today but you can always collapse your
announcement by selecting this here. So
keep your eyes peeled for any
announcements that um we push out to
your pages as far as um you know updates
about the platform updates from the
host. Just keep your eyes peeled there
again. And we've got a green banner
because I'm registered for the big
giving day. I've got a yellow banner
here because my to-do list is not
complete. And I can also see that
because I've got a red dot here. Highle
metrics. I can toggle through some
different um periods of time for those
metrics as well. We've got a
year-over-year chart that's not
currently showing. Um but that will be
there for you all to to take a look at
as you know your presence on the
platform becomes more longterm. I'm
wondering if I need to relog in. I think
Oh, no. All right. We should be all set.
To-do list. Uh, clicking the to-do list
again will expand my yellow sticky note.
I can hover over each item and click on
those elements to go to those specific
areas of the platform directly. I can
also open a detailed to-do list.
Um, in this demo, I have not set up EFT
yet. So, if I click on that, the
platform is going to bring me right to
my dispersement settings and I can
manage that here. So, again, the to-do
list completion is what's going to
automatically approve your page for
participation.
And that is your overview. So, please
feel free to begin exploring this. And
then we'll toggle over to organizations
page. I've got edit mode toggled on. If
I wanted to look at something in
particular to update, I could use the
quick edit drop down here.
Um, update banner,
update logo. You can include a white
backdrop or you can, you know, exclude
that depending on the visual you're
looking for. You can set a brand color
here as well. Again, this is going to
change the color of your donate button
or any other um you know clickable
elements on your page. So, feel free to
toggle that around.
Changing the title of your org page
again doesn't impact your legal name.
We'll talk all about donations,
matching, and fundraising during our
next webinar. Here is where you can
manage your um metrics and your goals.
So perhaps you wanted to hide this
section or you wanted to include your
fundraising stats, you would do so here.
Dollars raised, you can toggle that on
or off. Number of donors, you can toggle
that on or off. And again, you can edit
your fundraising goal at any time.
Here's your about section.
And here's that custom tab that you
could add if you wanted to include other
um components of your story separately.
And then you can remove that tab as well
if you just want the simple singular
about section. Images, call to action
buttons, you know, you can do headings,
bullet points,
you can embed a video in your about
section.
We'll talk about featured campaigns um
in the next call, but if anyone creates
a peer-to-p peer fundraiser for you, you
can hide that section or enable it so
that your supporters can see um any
campaign that's been created for your
org.
Here's that giving activity I referred
to earlier. Um it's that running list of
donors who have given to your cause. You
can toggle that on or off.
Media gallery
And then some other items that are going
to populate on your page that we can um
that we'll discuss in our next call.
Organization details as well down here.
So feel free to take a look at what
organization details are available on
your page to update.
You can also toggle edit mode off um to
really see what is that donor experience
going to be like on your page. The link
here at the top is also your URL that
you'll share for your giving day and for
your um supporters.
Contacts on the left hand side,
fundraising tools and reports. We'll
chat next time about that. Let's take a
look at your checkout options here.
Donation form. If you wanted to start
looking at your donation form and its
editable custo or its um customization
capabilities here, you can do that. I'll
dive into this a lot more thoroughly on
the next call as well. Your thank you
page is important though. This is your
first opportunity to thank your donor as
soon as they make their first gift to
your page. So once they submit a gift to
your organization, this page will
populate. It's different from your
receipt. Um it is just an initial thank
you to them. So um take some time to,
you know, thank your supporters. Again,
you can include another call to action.
Perhaps you want to um route them over
to signing up for your newsletter.
Same text editing capabilities here
across the top. Always click save where
you see our blue save feature. Nothing
is worse than spending all that time on
your about section or your thank you
page and not selecting save.
Let's toggle over to settings. General
settings again. You can customize your
URL.
um to align with, you know, your
organization's name. Uh please keep
search engine visibility on. Obviously,
we want you to be able to accept
donations. And then if you have
alternate search names such as a
nickname or an acronym, you can include
those here and our system will capture
those in the search page. So if anyone
types that in, it will route them to
your organization.
Also update your social sharing. So, if
somebody opts to share your organization
on their social media or in an email,
you get to have some control over what
that share looks like. Include your
logo, include a title. Perhaps you want
to link in some of your social media as
well or include specific hashtags. That
can be done here.
Organization info. This is really more
the um the internal piece and the legal
side of things for you all here. Um, if
you need to update any IRS data or
update some information regarding a name
change, that can be put into our
platform here. Our customer support team
then receives it and can update any
verifications.
So that's for your name. This is for
your legal mailing address. And then if
you also are interested in using our
platform as a repository for additional
documentation um long-term year round
you can upload um that documentation
here as well by clicking the plus sign
including some additional credentials a
descriptor and then there are filter
capabilities here as well. So really
familiarize yourself with um the options
here in the event that you're feeling
like the mighty cause platform and BK
gives on the platform is a space where
you want your organization to have a
little bit more of a robust presence.
Dispersement settings again part of your
to-do list. So please complete this
here. How would you like your public
donations to be dispersed to your cause?
Direct deposit through a so you can link
your bank account here or a check by
mail. Um and that is going to be just an
option for you to select here.
Admins as well.
Um your org page has been migrated into
our platform with the full list of
admins it had on its previous platform.
Maybe there are some folks who are no
longer associated with your org and they
don't need to be on this list. You can
select the triple dots, remove them
here. Or if you want to edit anybody's
um information as well, you can do so.
Um, if somebody clicks to the option to
manage your organization, you are going
to get an pending approval request here.
You'll be able to either approve them or
decline them. Anything you see in this
demo that is in purple, that is just
something I have um in my own
permissions. So, you might not see all
of the same features, but um
[clears throat] you know, just paying
special attention to the items I'm
discussing here today.
Let's see what else. I think that really
brings me to the end of the walkthrough.
I feel like I went through that super
quickly. There are a lot of questions
though. So, let me take a look through
the Q&A first and then I think I saw
some things come through the chat. So,
just give me a quick moment.
All right.
Um, Sanctuary Spaces was on the other
platform. We are fiscally sponsored.
Please advise. We'll go ahead and make
that attempt to log in and register. Um,
if you were fiscally sponsored on your
previous platform, that likely has
already been approved within our
platform. Um, if not, we will already
know if you're IRS and verified and if
we need to do anything on our end to
update that fiscal sponsorship. Um, so
again, it shouldn't impact you from
being able to register at this point.
Uh, but we'll make sure you are all
squared away prior um to your page going
live.
Once logged in, can the primary email
contact on an account be changed? I'm
hoping to access previous templates but
update the user information rather than
starting a new account.
Let's see here. Primary email contact on
the account be changed. Yes. So,
underneath settings and admins,
you will have the option to
mark an in a particular um admin as that
lead contact. Um so that would be an
option for you to identify
um you know that primary email.
I was on the page after registering and
despite being a manager I seem to not be
able to make edits as shown
>> resolved two down.
>> Gotcha.
>> All right. Can you provide a link to
register again please? Sure. Let me put
the registration link for you in the
chat.
There you go.
On an org profile, there are one or more
customizable tabs available, just one.
So, you'll have the primary about
section and then additional custom tab.
Is Mighty Cause available year round as
a fundraising platform through this free
BKO partnership? What costs are incurred
if a giving campaign activity continues
after Giving Tuesday? Is there a fee per
donation? Great question. So, our
partnership with Brooklyn Gives is year
round. So, um once you're active on the
platform, you are eligible to receive
gifts and use your organization page for
campaigns beyond just Giving Tuesday.
So, the first couple of webinars that we
offer as far as mighty cause goes is
going to be about Giving Tuesday in
Brooklyn Gibbs. However, postgiving
event and moving into the new year, you
will have access to all of our
fundraising tools throughout the off
season to run your own campaigns.
Whether or not um you know, Brooklyn
Gives is encouraging a new campaign as
the host, you will still have access to
your org page to use. So, for some of
the smaller organizations out there,
this is really that full suite of
fundraising tools that you can leverage
year round. Um, and a lot of that will
kind of come to light during our next
webinar when we discuss fundraising
tools. Um, there are fees per donation
that should be in the FAQ um, on the
Brooklyn Gives site. So, take a look at
that. My org usually presents a
different campaign. Uhhuh. So, these
details will be useful internal decision
whether to maintain two platforms or
center 2006 end of year campaign around
Mighty Cause. If you are spread already
on two platforms and you already know
Mighty Cause is a space for you to use
year round, we encourage you to simplify
your own practices um and just kind of
lean into the Mighty Cause experience.
Um so again after Giving Tuesday, we
will engage in training about what it
means to be a have a year- round
presence on the platform.
As far as any donation fees, take a look
in the FAQ that the Brooklyn Gives team
has put on their website.
Curious about the Brooklyn Gives
campaign homepage and how if donors are
channeled to individual profiles based
on organization
will Okay, let's talk about how does a
donor find find you. Once you're
approved,
um you know, a donor can come to the
search page here and if they know who
they're looking for, they can type that
in. Otherwise, they can select browse
all causes. Any organization that has
been approved and registered at this
point, they are live and ready to be
searched.
On the left hand side, supporters can
search by the standard org page, any
peer-to-peer fundraisers, events, or
teams. They can also search by
particular cause areas. Again, you're
selecting that cause area, by the way,
in that registration form. um they can
search by locality,
issue area, operating budget, whether or
not you have um matches available or
volunteer opportunities. So, lots of
ways for your donors to to find
organizations that align with missions
they're interested in. Also, on the
homepage, we will have options to
continue expanding that to include um
additional causes on the homepage. So
the team and I will be working together
to ensure that you know what they would
like on that homepage is um promoting
organizations that are involved with um
Brooklyn Gibbs.
Um homepage highlights information
profiles by service provided workforce.
That's a great question. Um I'll
continue to confer and partner with the
Brooklyn Gibbs team about what their
intention is there.
Are alternative search names case
sensitives? They are not. So, if you
have an acronym, if it's capital or
lowercase, no worries at all. Our system
will route a search um a donor to your
site.
How does this
how does this platform differ from
GoFundMe? Well, it's going to provide
you not only with a space to have an
organization page, we'll provide the
dispersements for you. Um, we have a
full suite of fundraising tools that
you'll be able to use year round. So, we
have a built-in CRM and contacts
database. Any donor that has engaged
with your organization before is already
migrated into our system and we've got a
full um CRM tool for you all to utilize.
We'll talk about that on the next call.
We have a matching grants tool. We have
peer-to-peer fundraising, text to give
opportunities.
Um lots of ways for you to be fully
immersed and engaged in the platform to
do all of your fundraising and
campaigning again for Giving Tuesday and
beyond.
Let's see here again regarding fees. All
of that is available for you in the FAQ
and year round.
Does BK Gives Mighty Cause help push
Giving Tuesday on behalf of the
organizations? Yes, we do. So, um feel
free to explore the Mighty Cause site
beyond just the Brooklyn Gives platform
and take a look at how we are promoting
our Giving Tuesday organizations.
What is the process for organization
approval? Your registration for Brooklyn
Gives is pending. It's pending probably
because it's still waiting for you to
complete those to-do list items. So,
take a look at that sticky note we
discussed um and see if you have any
outstanding to-do list items. If you're
feeling like you've completed those
to-do list items and it still says
pending, stick around um and we can chat
after the call to make sure you're
squared away.
You all have so many wonderful
questions. Let's see. Fees. I've seen
three different explanations that were
inconsistent. I want to know what we
will be asking donors to pay. All right.
Let me work with the BK gives team to
make sure things are consistent for you.
Thanks, Leah.
Beyond general info, we usually have an
annual campaigns with different
messages. I realize campaigns mean
something different here, but can an org
have different fundraising pages beyond
the general or description? Yeah, so
anyone can create a campaign for any
particular reason. So that peer-to-peer
campaign is one way to um set that up
and you can create that for your or own
org page and then um promote it as a
featured cause on your org page. Um
definitely diving in a little bit beyond
just the registration signing up piece
and getting started. But we will look
into this a lot more on our next webinar
and then some of the webinars we do
about that year-round presence.
Great question about supporting um
bilingual site visitors. U Mandy, I'd
love to get back to you um and provide
some more details about that for you.
All right, let's see here. I think we've
got one more in the Q&A and then I'm
going to shift my attention to the chat.
Where is the information on the next
webinar? Great question. So I maybe I
had the wrong date um initially. So, let
me confirm that and provide you some
information about
>> I'll drop it into the into the chat
shortly. It's on September 15th and I'll
share the link in a second.
>> 15th, not September 5th. Got it. Thank
you.
All right. I'm going to just quickly
scroll through the chat. Thank you all
for being so engaged in our learning
today. Let me stop sharing for now so I
can see this chat. All right.
Um, yes, we love free. So all of the
tools you have access to year round free
of charge. Um let's see here.
Platform is available for fiscally
sponsored organizations. Yep.
Yep. We have all of your data from
GiveGab.
Okay. Yes. And when Claire's done, we
also have another slide or two of
additional resources and some upcoming
dates that includes the upcoming
webinar.
>> I will share that now and Sabrina, I'll
let you carry on with the remainder of
the details you have.
>> Thank you so much, Claire. Thank you all
for your questions. If you have any
additional, please reach out to
Givesrooklyn.org.
Um, like we shared at the top of the
call, we will be um
sending this via email. We will be
posting this to our website, posting it
to the Brooklyn Gives platform. So, this
recording will be in a few different
places. Um, and to add to some of the
responses that Claire gave, yes, um,
Brooklyn or as an organization is
working to amplify Brooklyn gives as a
as a resource to donors um, and to
community members throughout this giving
season. We've already told our community
members um, to save the date to let them
know about the platform and and have
started sharing there. Um, and please
also note that we created this year's
to-do list, so it might seem a little
bit longer than in past years because we
heard feedback from donors that they
were going to pages and it felt really
incomplete. So, we wanted a little bit
of a minimum presence um in order to
have that um and Brooklyn does not
receive any of the fees on on the
platform. It's all just to be able to
maintain the website and of course to
cover any credit card fees associated
with processing the donations as far as
I understand it. Um, I will also be
reviewing some of the the
very basic questions you all answered uh
you all asked and cleared answered and
add that to our FAQ. So, thank you for
bringing some along. Um, and Claire and
I will catch up on it. So, um, in
addition, like we mentioned, there's an
upcoming training on September 15th on
fundraising tools and strategies for
this year's Brooklyn Gives. It is very
confusing. We know that Brooklyn Gives
is a year urine campaign and Brooklyn
Gives is a platform. Um you may have um
been connected to our Brooklyn Gives
campaign previously and or our nonprofit
connection. Our transfer to Mighty Cause
was really intentional. So we have one
platform for yearround giving um and and
to streamline that. And then we were
really intentional about selecting a
platform and doing the work. and the
mighty cost team was incredible at
transferring data, right? There's so
many things that you all have already
built. We don't have to reinvent every
single thing ever. Um, so in addition to
the training in a few weeks, uh, I have
listed a few resources that we will be
sharing in our followup including some
readily and free available resources
throughout other platforms. folks such
as Giving Tuesday has a wonderful
toolkit for nonprofits that helps give
ideas and walk through what the year-end
giving campaign season might look like
for your organization. Um, Canva has
wonderful templates to help create some
of the collateral and the social media
work, etc. If you're not very savvy on
all of the graphics, I am not. Um,
thankfully we have a wonderful comm's
team, but we all can't be so lucky. So
Canva has some things that is ready to
go for you. Um and in addition, Donor
Perfect has a lot of additional
trainings and um videos and resources
that we will also be amplifying to give
you some ideas on the streams that we've
been talking about about peerto-pe
peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, etc.
Um you might also be aware or may not be
aware that Brooklyn or is Brooklyn's
local community foundation. We also
support nonprofits through our grants.
Uh for information on that, uh please
sign up and join our next application
clinic on September 10th. Um if you're
curious for that, um information. I
think that might be all, but is there
any other
any other information I was planning on
covering? Let's see here. Um I want to
redirect you all to this slide as well
about Mighty Cause support. So, if you
do have questions about some of the
things we have not yet covered and you
want to kind of dive into what's to
come, feel free to explore the mighty
cause support hub as well, um, you can
go to support.mightycaus.com.
If you have a question about matching
grants, we haven't talked about them
yet, but you want to explore them. You
can type in matching grants in the
support hub and take a look at the
articles there. Um, we also have a
really fabulous customer support team
who are available by email, support.com.
Um, so reach out if you have questions.
That's all I've got. Um, I'm gonna stick
around just a little bit. So if if
Sabrina, you are also feeling like
you've covered all the things, you're
welcome to kind of wrap us up, but I'll
I'll stay online for a little bit.
>> Thank you. I also shared that um, you
know, folks can poke around to get a
preview of September 15th's webinar and
also reach out to support if they want
to start working on things before that
September 15th date. Um, thank you so
much, Claire. You are all very welcome.
Yes, this is recorded and um the BK
gives team will get that out to you
shortly after our call today. I'm going
to very quickly walk through um some of
the fundraising tools, a little teaser
for the next webinar. Uh I'm probably
not going to answer too many questions
about them because I think we could be
here forever talking about fundraising
tools because that's the bread and
butter of the work we do. Um but it
might be helpful to visualize um and to
see the tools in advance. So, um, again,
I'm going to head over. Am I sharing my
screen? Yeah. Okay. I'm going to head
over to my demo site, Black Hat Society.
Um, and the tools are once you're reg
once you're in the tools are available
for you to explore as well. So, let's
look at contacts first. This is our CRM
database. Any donor who has given to you
before is already built in and imported.
You can take a list of donors that you
have externally and import them as well.
Um, you can do bulk messaging to your
supporters through this tool here. If
you click on any particular donor,
you're going to get a full breakdown of
how they've supported your cause in the
past. So, let's see if there's one
that's giving us some some good data to
look at. These are all um, you know,
fictitious anyways, but you can see how
much a particular donor has given, how
often to what fundraisers. You can track
any communication with them.
You know, I spelled that wrong.
And then you can keep track of
communication amongst the different
folks on your team, general donor
demographics. Here you can see all of
their transactions, which campaigns
they've given to, if they've set up any
peer-to-peer fundraisers for you all.
Lots of options within our CRM tool
here. And you can filter them by
different tags. So you can create tags
for each donor as well. So maybe you
have a list of like uh superstar donors
who maybe give gifts of $5,000 or more.
Maybe you want to do targeted
communication to those folks. So you can
group donors through our contacts tool
as well. Um if I open up our general or
our primary fundraising tools drop down
here, you'll see campaigns for
peer-to-peer c uh fundraisers embeddible
forms. So, if you have an existing
website, but you want the Mighty Cause
donation form to be embedded on that,
you can do that all right here. So, that
way the dispersements are all coming
through the Mighty Cause Charitable
Foundation, through our platform, and no
longer through an additional third-party
um you know, donation form. We've got
our matching grants tool. We've got auto
automated emails built in here, text to
give, opportunities, and fundraiser
templates. So, I'm going to quickly go
into campaigns.
These are all of the peer-to-peer
campaigns that have been created for our
demo site. You have the option to um you
know, set up an approval process if you
want a little bit more control over
which campaigns are going live. So, you
can see that this one still needs to be
approved. Um if I click on the link, it
brings me right to that peer-to-peer
campaign. So, this is what it looks like
when it's created.
Um, you've got, you know, the name,
title of the campaign, which
organization it's supporting, an image,
a goal for that campaign. If your
organization has a live matching grant,
that's also going to be reflected on the
peer-to-peer campaign. It pretty much
mimics the organization page. Um,
so you'll you'll see that here. You'll
have the option as the organization
admin to actually create a peer-to-peer
campaign template. So, some donors,
they're techsavvy, they can set up their
own peer-to-peer campaign, which with an
image and an about section. But if you
want to take the fear out of fundraising
and kind of do the work for your um
supporters,
you can go into this template section, a
fundraiser template, and you can
actually fill out what do you want the
title of that peerto-peer campaign to
be? uh what do you want the goal to be?
You can predefine the image and the
story about in that peer-to-p peer
campaign. So really all your supporter
has to do is click fundraise, select the
template, and share it out to their
supporters. Um how do they do that?
Well, on your org page, instead of
clicking donate, hopefully they click
donate first, but then they can also
select fundra. And then it's going to
prompt them to create a fundraiser.
Here's where they can opt to use your
template that you've created. and it's
just going to take them through this
creation tool here. Um, in the demo,
it's I indicating to the peer-to-peer
campaign supporter that you're going to
have to approve it first. Um, so this
just lets them know that it has to be
approved before it's published. And they
can still come in and edit, you know,
different things, but at least you've
already done, you know, most of the
framework for them.
Um, let's see here. I'm just going to go
through these pretty quickly.
Um, you can also see underneath
campaigns how much you know each
campaign has raised, who created it,
when was it created. You can edit the
peer-to-peer campaigns as the admin. You
can delete them if they don't align
with, you know, your branding or your
messaging.
Um, so lots of flexibility here. Um,
embeddible forms.
You can create an embedible form here.
So maybe you just want the donation
button, a mini form, or the full
donation form on your site. You can
create that embed link here.
I'm not going to dive into matching
grants right now. It's it's a very
robust tool, and that's what our second
webinar is for. Um, but this is where
you can manage and uh set up upcoming
grants as well. Plus sign here allows
you to um enter in those details. And
again, these tools are already available
for you. So um get in there, play
around. Nothing is permanent. You can
delete everything. We've got a couple of
automated emails you can use. So, if
someone creates a peer-to-peer campaign,
you can toggle this on and a message
will be sent to them saying, "Thanks for
creating peerto-peer campaign." You can
edit what that message says as well.
Um, if you like to have in-person
opportunities for fundraising, sometimes
text to give is a little bit more of a
straightforward process. You can have a,
you know, a poster or, you know, little
cards in your at your Inerson event with
a keyword that says, you know, Black Cat
Society 2026. That's the keyword. And
they would text to this number and they
can donate on their mobile device that
way.
And then opportunities is where you can
create a list of like inerson events,
volunteer opportunities. Um, again, this
can be all about Giving Tuesday or it
can be for your year- round fundraising
campaigns.
But that is like the quick and dirty of
our fundraising tools.
