Brennan Johnson Set For Medical Ahead Of Dwight McNeil Swap! | Everton News Daily
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Everton is poised to complete a direct player swap with Crystal Palace, involving Dwight McNeil moving to Selhurst Park and Brennan Johnson joining Goodison Park without any cash changing hands. The deal addresses immediate financial pressures at the Eagles, who are eager to offload McNeil due to his high wages following his January arrival from Tottenham for over £30 million. While McNeil's contract situation was previously a point of contention with an initial transfer falling through earlier in the year when he asked for around £20 million, this mutual exchange is viewed as excellent business that provides both clubs with much-needed fresh starts and simplifies their squad planning ahead of their upcoming season opener at Hillsborough.
In related news regarding Everton's recent activities, the team faced Stuttgart in a friendly match where they suffered a 3-1 defeat despite showing promise during specific periods in the first half. The loss highlighted ongoing issues with finishing chances for players like Beto and Gylfi Sigurdsson, though it was not considered a disastrous performance given the nature of pre-season friendlies. Several squad members made notable appearances or adjustments; Harrison Armstrong delivered his best display since signing twelve months ago, while captain Jarrad Branthwaite led the side effectively. However, Isaac Onyango's start at center-back ended prematurely when he had to move to right back after Séamus Coleman was forced off with an injury, adding a layer of uncertainty regarding Colemen's condition before their next fixture against Newcastle United in Scotland on Wednesday.
Beyond team news and match reports, the video covered various transfer rumors and club announcements that keep fans engaged throughout the summer window. There is significant interest surrounding right-back Héctor Fort, who was officially announced as joining Everton from Barcelona for a reported €10 million after spending last season on loan at Elche; his move has drawn attention due to competition from Fulham and potential links with other clubs given their new Spanish coaching staff. Additionally, former midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye confirmed his departure to Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq via social media, thanking Everton supporters for their time together, while Tom Davies returned to Finch Farm to train with the under-21s after being released by Sheffield United due to persistent injury problems that hindered his progress.
The episode concluded with lighter news items and community events designed to entertain fans before the new season begins. Viewers were informed about a potential sensational move for Séamus Coleman, who has been spotted training with Gaelic football teams in Ireland, reigniting old memories of him playing the sport during his teenage years before becoming a professional footballer, though no official confirmation exists yet regarding this possibility. Finally, Everton announced details for an upcoming "Doc-toberfest" event scheduled to take place on October 3rd at Hillsborough Stadium, offering fans an all-day experience involving food and drink as part of the club's traditional Oktober celebrations. These updates collectively provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of affairs at Goodison Park, blending serious transfer business with community engagement and personal stories from key figures within the squad.

Welcome to Toffee TV. It is the Everton
news daily. Dwight McNeil and Brennan
Johnson are set to swap
clubs with Dwight McNeil heading to
Crystal Palace and Brennan Johnson
joining the Toffees. This is a straight
swap.
We are informed, no cash involved. It's
one of them where
Palace are desperate
for the player to to leave um
due to his wages um and you know, the
way they just It hasn't worked. He's
been there since
January. They paid over 30 million for
him in January from Spurs.
And they just want to draw the line
under it. Uh and they see a straight
swap with with Evan for Dwight McNeil as
as the best way to do it. Dwight McNeil
uh
not got too long left on his contract,
obviously. He was set to join Crystal
Palace in January as well on on transfer
deadline day.
>> [snorts]
>> It fell through.
They just couldn't get the deal done in
time.
Uh
they were look Evan were looking for 20
million at the time.
I think this this this represents
good business
for both clubs. Um it mightn't seem like
that, but both players
are in need of a fresh start. Even
though Brennan Johnson hasn't been at
at Palace that long, but both players
are in the need of a fresh start. And
for me,
I just see it as getting a free player
without worrying too much about it um
because Dwight McNeil is surplus to
requirements at Everton.
It's as simple as that.
He needs a fresh challenge um and we're
not going to use him. So, for me, it's
just get like getting a free a free
player. Yes,
if we'd hung on, maybe someone would
have come on come come in for Dwight.
But would that have been enough money to
go and get another player?
This to me is just the simplest solution
to both to both issues. Um Palace have
got a lower
the
um
wage bill I think as well with
playing in Europe.
That's uh you know, it's it's it's
slightly they have slightly less when it
comes to less money to play when it when
it comes to Europe. So,
hopefully this gets done in the next 24
hours or so. Both players I believe to
be having medicals today. So, I'm sure
both clubs want this wrapped up quickly.
As they both teams
obviously face each other
um in just under 2 weeks time, the first
game of the season at Hill Dickinson
Stadium. So,
hopefully this one will be done uh by
tomorrow tomorrow, yeah.
Um Everton obviously played at the
weekend. They were beaten at Stuttgart.
Tyreek wasn't an unused sub in that
game. Uh beaten 3-1. Um
That doesn't tell the full story.
Everton had some really good uh periods
in the game certainly in the first half.
There was a
20-25 minute period where Everton could
have genuinely have scored four or five
goals.
I suppose that highlights one of the
issues that Everton have got is is
scoring goals. Um Beto and Gylfi are
missing
a few chances.
Um and we just couldn't put it in and
they got the first and got they got an
early second. We did get one back
obviously through Body from the penalty
spot.
After winning the penalty and they
scored the late third um when the game
was a little bit all over the place
after the subs, which generally does
happen in friendlies.
It wasn't a bad one. Now, I am not
putting too much stock in these
friendlies whether we win or whether we
lose.
I think we know what we need
and it's up to us to go and get it
really.
It's as simple as that. So,
we'll have to wait and see whether
whether we can get those deals, but
the likes of Harrison Armstrong and and
Tyler Onyango,
um probably his best performance in an
Everton shirt since he signed 12 months
ago.
Uh albeit being a friendly, but he
looked like the player we signed.
So,
yeah, good run out good run out for the
likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, who
obviously captained the side.
Um
disappointing for the likes of Isaac
Onyango, he started the game at center
back and then had to move
to right back
with Séamus Coleman going off with an
injury. Not sure what that injury yet or
how severe it is, but he went off with
an injury, so it was a good run out and
obviously
we're on to
Wednesday now, where we go back to
Scotland to play Newcastle United
on Wednesday 5:15
kickoff. Having a happy birthday to the
right back today, Héctor Fort, the
Barcelona right back, 20-year-old, was
on loan at Elche last season.
Uh played 17 games.
The deal, apparently, 10 million euros.
Uh Fulham also interested, and obviously
they've got a new Spanish coach, so
you can understand why, but
uh yeah, we've been we will be continued
to be linked with right backs left,
right, and center till we actually sign
a right back. Uh familiar face back at
Finch Farm today, Tom Davies,
back training with the under-21s. Tom is
without a club after being released by
Sheffield United at the end of the
season.
Uh had some
injury problems at Sheffield United.
Done well, according to the Sheffield
United fans, and that's obviously always
a good way of gauging it, the fan base,
but his injuries just
um wouldn't settle down. When he got on
a little run, he'd be back out again,
but he's staying with the under-21s, and
nice to see him back.
Uh he's looking for a new club,
obviously. That new club, I don't think
will be Everton, but he's looking for a
new club and he's trying to get that
fitness in preseason to get himself a
help get him help him get a club uh and
hopefully he will do that.
And Idrissa Gana Gueye was officially
announced
yesterday with Saudi side Al Ettifaq. It
was announced yesterday. He'd obviously
put a message out to the Everton fans as
well
on social media
thanking them
for his time at Everton, which was a
really nice gesture. It'd be lovely to
see him back at some point um
at the club whether that be
you know, be nice to see some kind of
testimonial
but like Seamus and he's involved and
um but we've officially got the
confirmation
that he would uh
he would
be signing for the Saudi side. And just
on
Seamus Coleman
he has been linked with a sensational
move
back
to playing
Gaelic football in Ireland.
Uh he's apparently been training
with a Gaelic football side and this led
to people believing that he might take
up the sport again. He played
the sport in his teens basically all the
way up to becoming
uh a
a footballer essentially. And there
there was reports and I don't know if he
he he he
he could do that. Don't think there's
any official word on that.
But uh it could it could happen. And
finally, Everton have announced details
of a October
Octoberfest event at Hill Dickinson
Stadium called Doc-toberfest. It is
happening
on the 3rd of October
at the stadium. It's an all-day event
uh all day on the Saturday.
Um so
if that's something
that you'd like to get involved in,
something that you'd like to go and see,
it's happening at Hill Dickinson
Stadium. All the details are on
Everton's website if you'd like to get
down to the stadium and then participate
in basically a day of drinking and
eating.
Which sounds just sounds That just
sounds amazing, doesn't it? So,
um
get over to Evan's website and and find
out all the details. There you go,
that's all the news from today. Give
