BREAKING : Wife of Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya Appeals to Government for Access
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
Mrs. Moto Cafire, the wife of Hon. Mutotwe Kafwaya, has issued a desperate appeal to the government regarding the mysterious disappearance and alleged death of her husband following a military raid on his residence. She recounts that she last saw him early Friday morning before he left for work, and after failing to reach him by midday, she began calling his phone around 17:00 hours only to find it ringing unanswered. The situation escalated when the state confirmed that friends of Mr. Kafwaya were apprehended at his home during a raid, yet his name was notably absent from the official list of those taken into custody. Despite this confirmation, a witness named Mr. Brian Midia stated that he saw Mr. Kafwaya being shot twice, leaving Mrs. Cafire and her children in a state of profound uncertainty about whether her husband is alive or dead.
The emotional toll on the family has been severe, with Mrs. Cafire describing the agonizing wait since Friday night as abnormal and distressing for everyone involved. Her youngest child constantly asks where their father is and how long he will be away, while other children in school are struggling to concentrate on their upcoming exams due to the trauma of losing a parent without closure. The family is currently in a legal and logistical dilemma because they cannot hold a funeral or make proper arrangements without first accessing the body, yet the government has not provided clear information on his location or status. Mrs. Cafire emphasizes that the state's responsibility lies with them since they confirmed the raid occurred at her husband's house and that he was shot there, leaving the family to wonder how safe he is in custody.
In her plea for assistance, Mrs. Cafire highlights the critical impact of this uncertainty on her physical and mental health, warning that she fears she may suffer fatal consequences if the situation remains unresolved. She notes that while families of the apprehended friends have been released to visit their loved ones, her family has been denied access to Mr. Kafwaya, creating an unfair disparity in how the state is handling the case. The transcript concludes with her urgent request for the government to intervene immediately to clarify his whereabouts and condition, as the continued silence and lack of information are causing immense suffering to the entire family unit who are left waiting in fear and confusion.

I'm Mrs.
Moto Cafire.
Um,
I last saw my husband on
Friday as he left home early mid early
early morning.
Um, I spoke to him I think um,
midday.
I I can't really remember the
conversation.
Um, that was the last time I saw him.
Um,
around 17 hours I started calling his
phone. The phone went unanswered.
Um
up to now the phone is still going
unanswered
but it rings.
So
yesterday the state made a statement to
say there was a raiding as at Mr.
Amili's residence
and
uh the friends were apprehended
and uh they in state custody
and my husband's name is not there but
Mr. Mule
Mr. Brian Midia has confirmed that my
husband was amongst the friends and he
witnessed him being shot
twice.
This is very disturbing
to me and the children.
I think that the time the time he
stopped answering his phone I think
that's the time that's the time he was
shot from Friday around 17 18 hours I
haven't heard from my husband up to now
so now as a state confirmed that uh they
apprehended his friends and he's not
amongst the list me as a wife I'm
appealing to the state
to look into our plight
because we are in a dilemma.
We don't know where he is.
We reported the case to the police and
they are saying they haven't found him.
But since the government yesterday
confirmed that the friends were
apprehended and their families are now
free to go and visit the friends and my
husband's name is not there.
So I don't know where to go.
That's why I'm appealing to the state to
come in because the children are
affected. I am affected. Family members
are affected. The friends are affected.
We don't know what to do. We don't know
where to start from.
We don't know where to hold a We don't
know whether to hold a funeral or not
because we can't hold a funeral without
accessing him.
We need to access him.
It's just abnormal to stay from Friday
night
up to now. We don't know where our
family member is.
I don't know where my husband is. The
children they don't know where the
father is.
The youngest keeps on tell asking me
where is dad? What time is he coming?
when he check you check his phone he
calls his father more than 10 times in a
day and when he hears me crying
he tell me mom it's okay dad will come
let me go and pray in my room Imagine
how that feels
my I've got children who are in school
he is also in school all of them they're
in school
they are missing out right now how are
the children going to concentrate.
They are supposed to write exams. They
are supposed to pass. They supposed to
progress. Their father is not here. We
keep on waiting.
So me as an ordinary person, I want
assistance. I want to know where my
husband is whether dead or alive because
I won't keep on like this. People are
coming, people are calling.
We can't hold a funeral without
accessing him. Please, as a government,
I'm appealing to you. As a state, I'm
appealing to you. As a wife,
you are affecting my health.
You are affecting my health. I'll also
die at the end because it's not this is
not easy. This is not normal. Please
help us as a government.
help us because you already confirmed
that
you are
there was a raiding by military
personnel at Mr. Mundu's house and Mr.
Mundu confirmed my husband
being amongst those people.
So please I don't know how safe my
husband is. It's very cold.
the state is responsible over my husband
because you confirmed that you raided
that house and my husband was shot at in
in that very house.
I think I end there. Thank you very
much.
